ushijima’s knowledge of ghosts is based on hollywood movies and tendou has exorcised places just by vibing
ushijima: *brings out a pottery wheel* if there are any ghosts in here, you know what to do
he’s actually never watched Ghost he just knows That One Scene
tendou: *naruto-running through the goatman bridge with a go-pro strapped to his head* IT’S MY BRIDGE GOATMAN, IT’S MY BRIDGE!!!
the Goatman Himself: i’ve never felt so fucking scared in my entire fucking life
ushijima believes that chanting in latin will Summon the Ghosts and tendou takes full advantage of that
tendou: *handing ushijima a slip of paper* here, apparently this will summon a full-bodied apparition
ushijima: thanks *begins chanting*
producer, interviewing tendou to the side: okay, what did you make him read this time?
tendou: i typed out ‘let me eat your ass’ in latin on google translate and went from there
cameraman: *zooms in on ushijima chanting*
the ghost haunting the castle: *is confused in French*
in the end neither of them get evidence on ghosts
ushijima: well, we'll have better luck next time
tendou: maybe even revisit this place ?
the ghosts: i know i'm dead but this is the first time i've been scared for my life

The Redemption of Judee Sill
Halsey Hazzard, fall 2018
for a writing class on pop culture criticism “So much sensationalist bullshit has been written about Judee Sill (by people who never knew her) focusing on her days as a hooker and a junkie.” So begins Pat Thomas’s interview with Tommy Peltier, a longtime friend and collaborator of Sill’s, in the liner notes to the recently and lovingly compiled “Songs of Rapture and Redemption: Rarities & Live.” He’s not wrong; in nearly all of the writing on Sill, her music, an inimitable blend of gospel, folk and country at once bluesy and baroque, plays second fiddle to the stranger- and sadder-than-fiction story of her all-too-brief life. Her eponymous 1971 debut and 1973’s Heart Food were met with praise from critics and her fellow songwriters alike; in 1973 Steve Holden called Judee a “most gifted artist, one who continues to promise almost more than I dare hope for.” Unfortunately — for Sill and for those who loved her, and for those of us who love her music — much of that promise never came to pass. She died in obscurity in 1979, leaving behind an unfinished third record and quietly ascending to the pantheon of young, brilliant musicians who died too soon.
It’s hard to write about Sill without relying on sensationalist bullshit. I suppose in writing this at all I’m contributing to the problem, but like so many others, I have joined the ranks of Sill’s devoted disciples, compelled to tell and retell her story to rectify fate’s perceived cruel disservice to a great talent. What emerges is not always a faithful portrait of the complicated artist Sill was, but rather a shifting and sometimes contradictory fable that cements Sill’s status as a legend — not, as she might have hoped, as “an extremely famous or notorious person,” but rather as the subject of a “story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated.”
The story goes something like this: Judee Sill was born Judith Lynne Sill to an average, unhappy middle class household in Los Angeles in 1944. She fell in with a rough crowd, got married, committed a series of crimes, got addicted to various drugs, went to jail, got married again. Eventually she cleaned up her act, put the gospel licks she’d learned in reform school to good use, and became the first act signed to David Geffen’s Asylum label. She put out two albums of intricate songs that married earthly desire and longing for heavenly salvation, populated with lonely cowboy types and vigilantes that sometimes seemed strikingly similar to Jesus. For a few shining years it seemed like Sill had made it. It soon became clear (the story goes) that fame was not what fate had in store for her. Until 2003, when Rhino issued Judee Sill and Heart Food on CDs for the first time as part of its Handmade series, Sill was “[u]nlamented and all but forgotten.” These are the words of Barney Hoskyns, who in a 2004 Guardian profile declared “[t]he tragic Judee Sill is well overdue for (re)discovery.” Since then, interest in Sill’s life and music has steadily increased thanks to a series of posthumous reissues and releases: 2005’s “Dreams Come True,” a two-disk set of unreleased recordings mixed by Jim O’Rourke (Sonic Youth, Wilco); Live in London: The BBC Recordings 1972-1973, released in 2007; and “Chariot of Astral Light,” an intimate collaboration with aforementioned Tommy Peltier recorded in the ‘70s and finally released in 2004.
In a review of the 2004 Intervention reissue of Judee Sill titled “The Judee Sill Cult Continues, This Time at 45RPM,” Michael Fremer of Analogplanet writes, “sometimes "legends" are created and nurtured simply by tragic circumstances. In Judee Sill's case add wasted talent and unfulfilled great promise that add up to a movie worthy story.” Sill’s life has yet to inspire a movie (although a seemingly-deserted IMDB page indicates at least one attempt at a documentary), but songwriter Laura Veirs’ “Song for Judee,” renders the Judee Sill legend in sparse yet cinematic detail. In it, Veirs’ voice echoes on top of warm, jangling guitars, the apparently upbeat melody betrayed by the sadness of the story it tells:
“You wrote “The Kiss” and it is beautiful
I can listen again and again
You never really got a break
From the car wrecks and the pain”
The crux of the Judee Sill legend is captured in these lines, which immediately identify Sill’s work with the tragic events of her life. Sill’s music is mentioned in Veir’s lyric but once, and only glancingly; it’s not even clear “The Kiss” is a song, or “Judee” a songwriter. Veirs’ appreciation for her music is given is as pretext for why the listener should care about Sill’s life, but it’s clear the main attraction here is tragedy. The rest of this atypical ode is not praise, but a retelling, addressed to Sill herself, of key moments in the legend of her life. What emerges is a tellingly concise fable that identifies Sill with the lonely phantom cowboys who populate her lyrical landscape.
Veirs appears to have lifted her narrative and several phrases from the BBC documentary. She mines in particular the commentary from Peltier, who says Sill was his best friend and shares the insights that would come to compose Veirs’ chorus: “You loved the Sons of the Pioneers and the Hollywood cowboy stars/you were just trying to put a hand to where we are.” She also borrows, nearly word-for-word, an introduction Judee gave during one of her London radio performances in 1972, describing her time “living in a ‘55 Cadillac, five people sleeping in shifts.” This almost creates an intimacy with Sill, whom Veirs had never met; however, there remains an insurmountable distance. Sill had been dead 35 years — as long as she was alive — by the time this ode was composed. While Veirs hints at Sill’s troubles in the first verse, only in the last verse does she make explicit what happened: “They found you with a needle in your arm, beloved books strewn ‘round at your feet”. The revelation gives the chorus retroactive prophetic relevance. The past tense, once wistful, is now crushing.
Her death, like her life, became part of the legend. There are general points of agreement: she had been in several car accidents, was using heroin again, and died of an overdose just after Thanksgiving 1979. Everything else is less clear. Though her death certificate reports she was found dead in her house in North Hollywood, a persistent rumor suggested she had disappeared to Mexico to live out her final days. Her death was reported as a suicide, but family members and friends maintain that the note found near her, a characteristic musing on death and redemption, was an idea for a song.
The title of a 2014 BBC Radio documentary by Ruth Barnes says it all: “The Lost Genius of Judee Sill.” Sill’s genius is preceded by its lostness. Sill herself comes last. Her music is mentioned too, of course. They quote Sill’s self-description of her work as “country-cult-baroque” and her professed influences, Bach and Pythagoras. (In some versions of the quote, Ray Charles is thrown in.) Yet every time, it seems, someone brings up that she wrote “Jesus Was a Crossmaker,” about JD Souther, that Graham Nash produced it. She was the inaugural artist on David Geffen’s Asylum, we’re told, .She opened for Crosby Stills and Nash, and Cat Stevens, and Gordon Lightfoot — and so on. These revelations are usually accompanied by astonishment at the fact that she failed to find the commercial success of her peers, despite her comparable — perhaps superior — talents.
Many have offered explanations about how this happened. There is a general consensus that her falling-out with Geffen played a role. It’s not exactly clear what happened. The word “faggot” was involved, but whether it was said live or on the radio, in reference to Geffen himself or a pair of his pink shoes, is up for debate. Whatever she said severed their relationship. Some contend that she may have been in love with him, and was hurt when he spurned her advances. Others point out that she was growing frustrated with what she saw as his lack of promotion for her music. By this point, she was already making no secret of her disdain for the “snotty rock bands” she had to open for, and I doubt this did her any favors.
The contradictions in people’s stories exacerbate the larger-than-life quality of her life and times, as do the many cliches used to tell her story. Headlines variously declare her “a star that fame forgot,” “L.A.’s doomed lady of the canyon who lost her genius to drugs,” a “mystic” who “walked among us.” The human Judee Sill is lost somewhere beneath this sensationalism. It is no wonder why her friends and family members, Tommy Peltier chief among them, feel so compelled to set the record straight by providing their version of events. In his remarks in “Songs of Rapture and Redemption,” Peltier is quick to discourage speculation about her drug use and past prostitution, declaring instead “She was just the most beautiful person.”
“Beautiful,” you may recall, was the only word Laura Veirs could come up with to describe “The Kiss.” When I first heard “The Kiss,” I was immediately struck by how inadequate the word was to describe what I was hearing. The song showcases the best of her efforts to induce mathematically precise intervals into intricate melodies that aren’t so much heard as felt. Her lyrics, confusing the sacred and profane, ride the thin ridge between love and logic, devotion and desperation. Over shifting and plaintive piano Sill sings a eulogy to stars bursting in the sky and begs a lover — god? — to come and hold her “while you show me how to fly.” I first heard “The Kiss” in a YouTube video, one of few that survives of her performing, whose introduction insists that she herself was determined to be a successful musician. Ironically, the video shows precisely why perhaps she couldn’t be: severe and guileless, Sill hunches over the piano as if it were all that exists, engrossed in the song’s intense and uncommercial emotional intensity.
Sill’s idiosyncrasies are on full display in “Songs of Rapture and Redemption”, a compilation whose greatest strength is its commitment to capturing the artist and all her contradictions in her own words. The sleeve features a candid photograph of a smiling Sill, alongside several of her paintings and drawings. The tracks included are a combination of live recordings, demos, and studio outtakes that lay bare the deceptive complexity of her compositions. In the Boston Music Hall performance that opens the record, Sill, armed only with an acoustic guitar, tells the audience “I’m going to sing you a few little songs before David [Crosby] and Graham [Nash] get here. I’d like to sing you this song called “The Vigilante”. It’s new, I hope I remember the words.” The self-effacing introduction notwithstanding, what follows is nothing short of revelatory.
An early highlight is “Enchanted Sky Machines,” a bluesy number about waiting for the end of the world where she trades her distinctive fingerpicking for pentecostal piano licks she picked up in reform school. There is an aching earnestness to the way she sings of swallowing her yearning, and it carries over into “The Archetypal Man,” which begins with Sill singing the song’s opening harpsichord solo. Before “Crayon Angels,” she describes how she would call up friends as she was writing the album and sing them instrumental solos, joking that it must have been hard for them to like her in those days. The crowd is in on it, and her self-deprecating humor belies a clear confidence in her talents and her musical vision that is justified by the virtuosic grace of her playing. Sill was a perfectionist who demanded and deserved creative control, a notoriously laborious songwriter who could be a tyrant in the studio, and these tendencies are on full display even in this humble solo set. When she introduces her second last song, “The Lamb Ran Away With the Crown,” she enunciates every word, then repeats it again — ”with. the. crown.” — determined to ensure the the audience walks away knowing exactly what she was saying.
The set ends with Judee’s signature song, “Jesus Was a Crossmaker,” which had only just been released to radio two days prior. She calmly reveals the song’s inspiration, an unhappy relationship with a “bandit and a heartbreaker,” and describes waking up one day with the conviction “that even that wretched bastard was not beyond redemption.” Her diction is clear, her tone less so. The audience, nonetheless moved, cheers and laughs. She goes on: “It’s true, I swear. It saved me, this song. It was writing this song or suicide. It’s called “Jesus is a Crossmaker” and I hope you like it.” Her voice seems monotonous for such an emotional confession, but that stops mattering as soon as the song begins.
Instantly her singing voice, freed from the perfectionism of her studio recordings, reveals itself as strikingly human. Precise, unadorned, free of vibrato, it is flat in places, sharp in others, yet cuts to the rhythmic core of each note. She struggles with a few of the intervals she has given herself to sing, but this only enhances the song, giving human voice to the mathematical precision of her compositions, linking the downtrodden with the divine. With her unpretentious voice and deceptively simple language, she strives to speak redemption into being. Her longing for it is audible.
Such longing is a key theme in much of sill’s work, and nowhere is it more pronounced than in “Crayon Angels”:
Crayon Angel songs are slightly out of tune
But I'm sure I'm not to blame
Nothing's happened, but I think it will soon
So I sit here waiting for God and a train to the Astral plane
Later in the song, she confesses “Guess reality is not as it seems so I sit here hoping for truth, and a ride to the other side”. Sill knows the truth she longs for is unattainable, at least in this lifetime — but she remains unflagging in her belief in something. It is this belief that motivates her music. To characterize Sill as a god-given genius laid low by fate undercuts her formidable musical ambition, and the sincerity with which she approached her craft. The work she created was not purely inspired by the divine, but instead strove for it, confronting the inevitable impossibility of reaching perfection with the all-too-human drive for beauty in the face of death. Still, one gets the sense that Sill herself, enthralled as she was with cowboy stories and cosmic secrets, might appreciate the mythic proportions her life story has taken. I like to think that she’s made it to the Astral plane, and that wherever she is, she’s smiling.

U don't have to answer this if u don't want to but how do u know that the boys shunned the ex member? Like I know chan vaguely mentioned something about someone disappointing u but were they vocal about their distaste towards the ex member
Again u don't have to answer this if u don't want to I know it's a sensitive topic for a lot of people
So there’s the chan stuff that was pretty outright but the rest of it kind of requires more knowledge on skz history and branding to fully pick up on it but i’ll do my best to explain it as briefly as possible.
-Basically chan talked about people disappointing you but there were a few other things he touched on like if you make mistakes that affect the people around you then you'll have to face consequences. That you cant only think about yourself - you have to think about others too and the commitments/promises you made to them. And that not thinking about others around you is selfish and a betrayal.
-Since the survival show in 2017 when felix and minho were eliminated their entire brand was “nine or none.” They had song lyrics and song titles revolving around the number nine and simply put it was a key part of the skz brand. There were nine of them and they would stay like that until the end. They spoke about it in interviews and how it wasn't skz unless it was all the members. So when w* left, the immediate reaction by the fans was that they were still nine members even if one left, it was still nine or none. But the members on the other hand were all of a sudden posting things like “8 ❤️ You” and how stray kids is eight. That probably doesn't sound like much but that was a big deal to fans because it sent a message loud and clear.
-How the company reacted. So it’s important to understand WHEN he left. The new album had already been completed and the music videos for Levanter and Astronaut were filmed and due to be released. In most cases when a member leaves on decent terms (and even bad terms) the company will continue with the release of any content that member was already in because it’s a huge investment to make an album and film mvs and remaking content would be a major money loss. But Stray Kids put the comeback on hold and immediately rerecorded the entire album, re-shot the photobook, and re-filmed both mvs. Like I said before that’s not a typical reaction to a member leaving whatsoever and even if other groups want to do that, they cant because the company cant afford it. The turn around time was so fast too like the new Astronaut mv was released exactly a month after w* left. So they re-reorded and produced the song, shot and edited the mv all in four weeks which is... incredibly fast. Also I want to say that since the boys are self produced, 3racha (chan jisung changbin) had to personally redo all the music themselves and if that doesn’t say spite I don’t know what does. Levanter and Double Knot (eng ver) were also released a few months after that but its safe to say the company was okay with remaking everything so I would say thats a pretty public shunning. They also removed him from all mv thumbnails and I believe also deleted his solo content off of vlive and youtube. I’ve seen a lot of members leave groups and no other company has ever gone to this extent before where they have actively removed an ex-member from as much content as possible.

@madam-metaphor asked: 69. Ventriloquist
So Eddie was still out of a job. Not an ideal state to be in, by any means, though he’d excused the situation on being busy with other, more pertinent things—diverting an alien invasion, for starters.
But it’d been 2 months since anything urgent had come up and here was Eddie during a Wednesday afternoon, on the couch with a microwave dinner in his lap. TV shows had gotten worse nowadays, he was thinking, no respect for plot anymore, just pure drama.
His bills were piling up—the stack of envelopes was becoming painfully apparent on the island in the kitchen, giant red notices bleeding onto the paper—but it wasn’t like Eddie hadn’t tried. He had tried—at the grocery store, the pet shop, even the fucking video rental place—yet none of the leads had amounted to any promising offer. He was just unlucky, that was all, he thought and took another bite.
You’re very lucky, Eddie. I decided to live in your body. Venom regarded itself quite highly.
He was flipping through channels now, irritated with his lack of options, Venom’s head perched on his shoulder. A streaming subscription, that’s what he needed. Another bill added to the mound, but it was necessary, because, “I mean look at this shit,” he gestured towards the TV with his remote, mouth full, “You cannot expect me to want to watch this kind of crap.” It’d been some ventriloquist—third fucking episode in a row—and Eddie jammed his finger into the skip in frustration.
Wait.
Venom pressed a tendril to the back button and slithered closer to the screen, head cocked in interest.
How did he get that little human onto his arm?
Eddie gave Vee a crooked smile. He would admit, providing Venom explanations of silly human behaviors was one of his favorite aspects of this cohabitation. “It’s not a tiny human. It’s a puppet—not alive. You stick your arm up the hole in its ass and make it do things.” He laughed, amused at his own explanation.
Venom’s eyes glimmered. Don’t we do the same thing?
The laughing stopped. “No, no we do not do the same thing—it’s different. It’s very fucking different. You’re supposed to make jokes, create a show, have people watch you.”
The glimmer intensified. Let’s do that.
“Do what? Become a career ventriloquist?” a slow nod was Eddie’s only answer.
Venom’s proposal was unsurpring, actually. It had grown increasingly frustrated recently—angry that Eddie could walk the streets now without anyone suspecting anything out of the ordinary, providing no indication they knew Venom was living inside. But the issue was that Venom wanted to be seen—wanted everyone to know that Eddie was taken, that this was Venom’s Eddie. It didn’t want anyone looking at him. Considering him.
Venom had thrown a fit once or twice in public already, accidentally shoved someone out through the glass doors of a bus because they’d brushed up against Eddie a little too often. And that had been an accident—the person was fine aside from a few scratches on the nose—but Venom had been sternly warned that day to never try anything like it again.
“I’ll rip you out of me, Vee. I promise I will.” Obviously it was an exaggeration, but the image it produced was painful enough for Venom to agree.
So this was its roundabout way of being present in public. They could star in a show together—much like the one on TV—and Venom would have an excuse to stay on the outside, make itself known. It was a perfect idea.
I would make a great puppet, Eddie.
Eddie just laughed and brushed the crumbs off the front of his shirt. He used to be an esteemed journalist. He was not going to become a fucking ventriloquist for the afternoon broadcast. It was stupid. It was ridiculous. It was not an option. It was—
+
They were standing in front of the bathroom mirror, Venom’s head bobbing out from Eddie’s right hand, while another piece wrapped around his arm before cutting off entirely before the elbow.
A puppet. A gooey, terrifying, alien puppet.
Venom had succeeded in getting Eddie to try the idea out—there was no harm in just trying, it’d argued. And yes, fucking had been a factor in the convincing process, but there was no need to focus on silly details.
They’d been glued to the same spot for nearly an hour now, Eddie trying to mold Venom’s mass into something a bit less menacing. He’d tried giving it pointed ears, a nose, some makeshift hair strands that were supposed to cover a part of Venom’s eyes, but they resembled creepy noodles, if anything else. The attempts were useless, so with a sigh Eddie gave in and moved onto the next issue. “We’ll just be really funny, to distract from the unconventional look.” Unconventional was his way of describing it, because there was no reason to hurt Vee’s feelings.
Mouth movements proved to be a problem too. “You have to move it based on the shape of the words I’m saying. What you’re doing is not convincing at all.” Venom was just opening and closing its maw haphazardly, disregarding any authenticity.
I’m meant to be a puppet. They lack the same facial mechanics.
“Yeah, but—” Eddie cut himself off, because there was a point to be made here, he just wasn’t sure what it was. He set that aside for later.
The tongue—the tongue had to go.
“It’s just a bit unsettling, is all, when you flick it all the way out like that, you know? Some might find it suggestive, others might think it's insulting.” So Venom curled it back into its maw, with some difficulty, but it’d managed.
Then they encountered an issue with the flow of the conversation. Eddie should have expected Venom to hit a few bumps in the road when it came to witty comebacks, but it really killed the vibe when it kept answering with things like Eddie, do you really think I look like a nasty talking tar ball?
Eddie even tried feeding Venom dialogue through his thoughts, but on the fourth failed attempt he decided they were done. “We tried, we basically failed. I’ve got more important things to do.”
Staring into your empty fridge so you can ignore your real problems isn’t very important. Eddie did not entertain Venom with a response.
+
Yes, he should have been looking for a job still, but Eddie chose to write a script instead.
They had stopped after that fourth try, but returned to the mirror an hour later. Eddie was going to get it right—he was going to squeeze at least one original, funny thing out of Venom.
On the seventh try he decided the only way out of this was writing a script.
Recording the video, with his phone resting on the dresser and the script hiding beside it, was also, just a one-off thing. A quick hyperfixation, nothing more.
He worked on their conversation for 2 days, smoothed out all the kinks in their performance during the 10 rounds of practice recordings. Venom could now shape its mouth around the words, kept its tongue inside, and even spoke at a higher pitch to make it more convincing. The pair was ready.
+
Uploading the video to Youtube had also been Eddie’s idea. He had not given up on the project, and neither had he given up on being in denial towards the fact that he was absorbed by said project.
“It’s just—I refuse to have wasted 5 fucking hours on this and keep it private, you know?” It was a weak argument, and he suspected Venom would have raised its eyebrows in doubt if it had any, but it stayed silent.
He’d done some minimal editing. Nothing too fancy—just an intro and an outro, simple things he’d learned during his journalism days. “It’s not gonna get any views.” he was talking to himself at this point, mouse hovering over the Publish.
“It wasn’t even that funny.” The video had successfully appeared on the recent uploads page—Eddie had checked to make sure, but he didn’t necessarily care.
“I’ll probably delete it in a day or two, anyway, mind you.” Venom continued to hide away.
+
Venom was only ever quiet for two reasons: it was tired, or it had won a battle with Eddie and had nothing more to say. This case slotted under the latter category.
Because Eddie had not deleted the video after a day or two—it was still floating around on the Internet and Eddie’s finger was beginning to cramp up from refreshing. And refreshing. And refreshing.
The result wasn’t anything major. It was only 100,000 hits in 5 days and the title was pure bait—kinda hard to pass up a video called “Famous Ex-Journalist Stuffs Hand Up Puppet’s Bumhole, Calls It Coping” (That’s a misleading title, Venom had noted. “I know, just trust me.”)
“It’s not even that funny of a video.” Eddie said again on the 6th day, but there was a smile tugging at his lips—nearing 200,000 now.
Cooksucker3000 said your puppet is fucking dope, Eddie. Venom hummed along Eddie’s arms in satisfaction. The comments were its favorite part, for quite obvious reasons, and Eddie was too preoccupied with his own shower of compliments to correct Venom’s reading mistakes.
this is so hilarious!!
i love the idea!
good to see ur doing well - i remember u from tv!
u r really fucking hot xx
Delete that. It has nothing to do with the contents of the video. So not all of the comments were Venom’s favorite.
+
When they hit 300,000 Eddie said, “Fine—I’ll write one more script. But after that, we’re done.” Venom did not put up a fight this time either.
Because fine, Eddie could say whatever he wanted, but they shared a fucking body at the end of the day—as if Venom wouldn’t have noticed him finishing up the 4th script of a series last night.

Hi!! I hope you’re doing alright, and I found your blog via your channel, and it’s quite entertaining! I wanted to ask as a fellow AMV editor, and as you’ve actually commented on my videos a few times I felt I could muster up some courage- but I originally started my channel to one, enjoy making videos, but also to see if I could make a living out of it for the future. So here’s my question: Do you make a living out of yours? And did you ever imagine it that way? I hope you’re doing well! :)
Aw, thanks for stopping by! I’m really not that scary, come talk to me anytime :D My response below the cut:
I don’t make ANY money off my videos, and frankly, don’t really want to! Obviously, because I’m using copyrighted content, I can’t monetize on YouTube, but I haven’t really thought of making a Ko-Fi or Patreon or anything like that. Frankly, I don’t even know if I have fans invested enough in my content to want to pay me for it. More importantly, though, here’s the two basic reasons:
For one, I don’t really need the money, so I’d feel as though whatever my fans try to give me would be put to better use in the hands of others artists who ARE trying to make a living. I’m fortunate (and privileged) enough to not rely on the kindness of strangers online, but others must, and I don’t want to distract from that.
Secondly, I think fan sponsorship would actually DECREASE the quality of my content output. Sometimes, I sacrifice frequency of uploads to work particularly hard on a video; other times, I want to release three videos at once and can’t contain my excitement by pacing it out. Being held accountable by the pockets of my fans would apply a pressure simply not worth the reward; I don’t want your dollar a month, and you don’t particularly care if I don’t follow a very close uploading schedule. Not to mention, whatever other rewards I would be promising that I doubt I currently have the capacity to produce. It’s just not an incentivized transaction, and would probably burn out my enthusiasm in the long run.
That being said, you’re not me! If you want to make a living out of your channel, I encourage you to strive towards that goal. I can’t make any recommendations, as I know nothing about that process, but I do know that it’s a very tedious lifestyle that takes skill, commitment, and a whole lot of work to pursue, so if you’re serious about it, I sincerely hope you do your research on forging your path to success.
Good luck! Thanks for the ask ^u^

Life in Music
Music has always been a major part of my life, so naturally my life can be defined by what music I was listening to at the time. I will listen to my music on shuffle and say “Oh, I remember listening to this in [insert random moment in time here]”. Thus a definitive list of my life in music is born!
Fall 2018
Shawn Mendes album (I listened to this on repeat while suffering through my online algebra assignments)
Youngblood - 5SOS album (I listened to this for the first time packing for winter break!)
Oye Como Va - Tito Puente (this was discovered during my World Music class and my roommate and I would listen to it over and over again)
Duck Tails theme song (again, my roommate and I have weird taste in music I guess)
Killer Queen - 5SOS
Polaroid - Jonas Blue, Liam Payne & Lennon Stella
Fine - Spencer Sutherland (I would listen to this song on repeat at least 15 times in a row)
Shotgun - George Ezra (My dad got me into this song)
Still New York - MAX and Joey Bada$$
8 Letters (album) - Why Don’t We (the beginning of a lovely obsession)
Happier - Marshmello (DO NOT watch this music video, whatever you do)
Have It All - Jason Mraz (This is a super specific memory but I was listening to this walking to Centennial Hall and it put me in such a good mood which algebra class ruined immediately)
LANY (album) - LANY
Spring 2019
Dan and Shay - all albums (but I like the Obsessed album the best I think)
Unbelievable - Why Don’t We (the best WDW song to date, I will fight people on this)
Don’t Change - Why Don’t We
Phases - PRETTYMUCH (I remember many cold mornings at 7 am walking to Chemistry and listening to this on repeat)
If I Can’t Have You - Shawn Mendes (I remember driving to surprise our best friend at his college graduation and blasting this song with the windows down, such a fun day!)
Look What God Gave Her - Thomas Rhett (I have a specific memory of driving to Walmart with my roommate and choosing this song to listen to)
Someone to You - BANNERS (this song was used in After and I saw that with my roommate and another friend during Block Party weekend)
NIKES - Jake Miller
Here With Me - Marshmello feat. CHVRCHES (I listened to this one so much that my roommate actually banned me from listening to it around her because she was so sick of it)
Love Me Less - MAX & Quinn XCII
Who Do You Love - The Chainsmokers & 5SOS
I Don’t Belong In This Club - Why Don’t We & Macklemore (pretty sure there’s a video of me singing this song very poorly 😂)
comethru - Jeremy Zucker (feat. Bea Miller)
Cody Simpson - all new albums (this obsession started after I saw him in Anastasia on a trip to New York and I’m now in love, he has such a summer vibe in all of his newer music)
Fall 2019 (aka worst semester everrr)
Kill My Mind - Louis Tomlinson (anxiously waiting for Walls to release!!)
Yellow Hearts - Ant Saunders (courtesy of TikTok)
Fine Line (album) - Harry Styles (my roommate became obsessed with Watermelon Suger so I thought she would become obsessed like me - thought wrong; the video for Adore You dropped and I watched it while getting ready one morning to which my roommate said “What the heck are you watching?”)
Ophelia - The Lumineers (TikTok again, I might be obsessed)
5SOS - Sounds Good Feels Good album and Teeth (this semester made me feel angsty and SGFG definitely helps with that)
Colors (EP) - Jacob Whitesides (I may have cried out of pride listening to this the first time which was as soon as it was released)
What Am I - Why Don’t We (changed my mind, this is the best WDW song)
Next to Normal soundtrack (watched a bootleg of this on YouTube and cried)
Flicker (album) - Niall Horan (I’m a bad fan but I just now listened to this album...oops. It was on repeat studying in the library for finals with my roommate)
Put a Little Love on Me - Niall Horan
Nice to Meet Ya - Niall Horan (this song excited me because he speaks French and the only class I enjoyed this semester was French so)
Suburban Girl - Lostboycrow (I jam hard to this song, I was listening to a chill playlist while doing laundry and that’s how I discovered this song)
10,000 Hours - Dan and Shay (I also listened to this one on repeat as soon as it came out, along with Kill My Mind)
Mother - Charlie Puth (I saw this king in concert and he will forever be one of my favs)
Things That We Drink To - Morgan Wallen (I discovered him on a band bus ride back from Shippensburg University and I fell in love with this Australian country singer)
Aaand during winter break I have been listening to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series which I was ready to hate but I’m actually in love with!
Spring 2020 - aka Corona Virus University
Goldfish Crackers - Good Revere (best TikTok dance everrrr, my roommate and I are obsessed with it and we do it together a lot, even if it is just over FaceTime)
Heartbreak Weather (album) - Niall Horan (so so amazing, I could listen to it over and over for the rest of my life which may or not be happening)
CALM (album) - 5 Seconds of Summer (again, great album and have it on repeat)
Common Sense - Joshua Basset (cute, cute song from a cute, cute boy)
IDK You Yet - Alexander 23 (another really cute song)
Starry - (this is a musical based on the life of Vincent Van Gogh, sounds a little bizarre but I promise it’s incredible! Dillon Klena is part of the team now although he didn’t sing on the actual recording)
Whistler - Kathryn Gallagher (she’s part of the Jagged Little Pill company on Broadway and she’s so good!)
Jasper Avenue - CaRter (vibeeees)
Little Women Soundtrack - (all instrumental and I’ve written many an English paper/Genetics paper to it)
Intentions - Justin Bieber feat. Quavo (I only know a few words but that doesn’t stop me from vibing as hard as I possibly can!)
Sunday Best - Surfaces (another TikTok song but it is so so good and gets stuck in my head. Bonus is that I can do the dance!)
Winter Hurts (EP) - Jacob Whitesides (another banging album from my dude! Go check it out if you haven’t already!)
Beautiful Soul - Jesse McCartney (this has always been my favorite song but it now has so much more meaning to me because it was Corey La Barrie’s favorite too. Rest in Paradise bud<3)
Hedwig and the Angry Inch album (specifically the Riverdale cast album, some may say it’s cringey but I loved it! - “Here’s to Ronnie...”)
Fall 2020
Fallin’ - Why Don’t We (such an amazing group of guys that are finally producing music that is 100% them! I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of their album because if it is anything like this then it is about to break the charts)
Julie and the Phantoms Cast Album (OH MY GOSH I need to make a post with all of my JATP thoughts because this show has so many layers that make it absolutely incredible. There are no skips on the album AT ALL)
Hold Me Down - Jacob Whitesides (This is his best song by far and I streamed it for about 24 hours straight so my boy could rack up his streams on Spotify 😌)
mama’s boy - LANY (another amazing album by them! My favorite differs from day to day but currently it is (what i wish just one person would say to me))
Lotus Inn - Why Don’t We (This is such a feel-good song and honestly I’ve listened to it so many times and am still not tired of it at all. The music video is incredible and it was another of Corey’s favorite songs <3)

Uncertain Hunting
Avatar (James Cameron)
Tsu’tey x dream walker! female reader
Warnings: 1 cuss word, hunting
Specifics: hunting, comedy, fluff, romance, man vs nature, na’vi language, training, race neutral reader, dream walker reader
People: Tsu’tey te Rongloa Ateyitan, you, Jake Sully (mentioned), Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at’ite (mentioned), Grace Augustine (mentioned),  Norm Spellman (mentioned), two other trainees from the movie (mentioned)
Words: 1,533
Summary: As a dreamwalker learning the ways of the Na’vi people you must learn how to hunt. Of course your teacher is the stern Tsu’tey. He must teach you all that you need to know.
Authors Note: where do i begin...*sigh* THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST MOVIES EVER MADE!!!!! i fell in luv with it when i first saw it in 2009, i have always wanted to write about it but my writing wasnt really that good back then and i was still self conscious about my writing. but now i am going to try to rebuild this fandom, i am going to try to make it luved again. it will take time but oh well. also my sis luvs tsu’tey, like that is her husband. i am so excited to show this to you guys, and to kinda write something i want to write (not that it means i dont like writing what u guys request cuz trust me i totally do). get ready to see more of avatar and request if u want to about this fandom, trust me it will make my day. i hope u guys like this as much as i do and feedback is always appreciated! no this was not requested.
Tumblr media
You were taught many things in your life. Taught how to care for yourself, how to be your own person.
You also studied the Na’vi people for 5 years. Recently, you had gotten your avatar body. It was such an experience, to feel more alive.
All the hard work paid off in the end.
You and others such as your friend Jake Sully, Grace Augustine, and Norm Spellman came to Pandora to research the land and take some samples.
That is until Jake had to start making a ruckus and you and Jake got lost. But maybe Jake didn’t do such a dimwitted act after all.
You both then found, well Neytiri found you both, and took you and Jake into her clan.
This, you felt was what you trained for all your life. To learn and try to become one of them, and to earn their trust.
“Agh this stupid horse...thing!” You shouted at the ground, stomping at how frustrated you were.
Trying to climb this...horse, or excuse me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yeah, direhorse, or what Tsu’tey taught you, pa’li, was like trying to climb a mountain.
“You are not trying hard enough. Again,” Tsu’tey instructed you.
You peered over to see your poor friend, Jake, also failing, making you laugh.
“Over here,” Tsu’tey grabbed your chin to get your attention to what you were doing.
“Okay, okay, okay.” You huffed, walking backwards a good enough distance, and then with all your speed you sprinted forward, ending it with a jump.
As you looked under you, you saw you were indeed riding a direhorse.
“Look Tsu’tey I did it!”
Just then the direhorse, sped away at the contact. You desperately holding on for your dear life.
“Tsaheylu y/n! Mend the bond,” Tsu’tey shouted, while running after you.
All you could do was erupt a helpless scream, “I SHOULD HAVE NEVER DONE THIS!”
As you look up ahead you spot a cliff, “oh no.”
If you don’t form the bond now, you were going to be flung off the cliff.
“Tsaheylu, tsaheylu, tsaheylu,” you whispered to yourself. With some struggles, you grasped your braid and put the queue in its place, to make the bond with the animal.
“Y/n,” Tsu’tey yelled with a worried tone.
“Stop!” You yell before you almost, with a just a little more, fall off the cliff. The direhorse’s breathing softens and you are one with the animal.
“What was that?”
You peer at Tsu’tey, then you burst out into laughter. I mean you almost died but the look on Tsu’tey’s face was priceless.
You gave an evil grin, “wow. You actually were scared for me. You actually worried about me. I’m shocked, I am s h o o k e d all the way to my bones.”
Tsu’tey looked away, bashfully, giving you a tsk and a scowl, “ skxawng.” (idiot, moron)
“You know you love me, I can see it in your menari.” (eyes)
Tsu’tey gave you a look of suprisement, his yellow cat like eyes widening.
“Whats next... karyu?” (teacher) You straightened up.
“Are you serious,” you opened your mouth wide.
After your fiasco with the direhorse, your next lesson was to learn how to hunt.
“You do realize this is life or death? Like I could die!”
Tsu’tey nodded, “well if you should die y/n, at least you still would have your other form, your other body.”
Rolling your eyes you puffed out your cheeks, “thanks for the reassurement.”
Out of the bushes came the other two students of Tsu’tey’s. They communicated in the Na’vi language making you feel left out. You were nervous and a bit embarrassed with having to learn these things with the other two students. They knew so much and they were younger than you. It made you feel self-conscious.
Shaking your head you pushed those thought out. You regained your posture and interrupted the conversation, since the group was laughing, probably making fun of you.
You spent 5 years learning about these people, you dam* right you were gonna learn how to hunt.
“Are we ready to begin?”
Tsu’tey gave you a glare and then nodded. He explained to you how you and another group, which included Neytiri and Jake were also going to hunt.
You breathed in and out, scared to what the outcome might be. You felt a large hand on your shoulder. You look to see that it is Tsu’tey, “you will be alright, I am here.”
You smiled at his comment and placed your hand on his shoulder.
This next part will be inspired by this scene:
Avatar DELETED Scenes 3 look up on youtube these words
On a direhorse you try to catch a sturmbeest or how the Na’vi call it a talioang. Carrying your bow n arrow, your direhorse runs by the creatures. A stampede, their legs booming with such power. They sprint as a herd, trying to get away from the hunting.
You spot one that is close to you and try to shoot it with an arrow. The arrow hits its hardened skin at the top, and the arrow breaks.
“Crap,” you mutter under your breath.
The sound of banshees, or ikran’s makes you look up to see Neytiri and Jake (jake aint that high up in social standards yet he still is training) and a group of others.
Your attention was to them that you almost forgot that you had to watch out that you didn’t interfere with a sturmbeest. Thankfully you looked just in time, you were about to knock into one.
“Nari si (watch out, be careful),” yells Tsu’tey, keeping an eye out for you.
“Sorry,” you shout. Focusing again on hunting.
You feel a smile creep on your face seeing out of the corner of your eye Tsu’tey watching you. Making sure you are okay. He gives mini glances to the other students but with you, he keeps on the watch.
You stand up on your direhorse and erupt a war chant, earning a grin from Tsu’tey. As you stand you try to get a good angle at the operculum.
Tumblr media
“C’mon y/n, you got this,” you tell yourself, closing one eye to get a better look at your target.
Suddenly, a sturmbeest came by your direhorse and knocked it down making you also fall down. But you jumped in time to land on a sturmbeest.
“Y/n!” Tsu’tey called out to you. Worried laced in his voice. He rode next to you.
You screamed in fear, holding on for dear life. Other sturmbeests smashing against you, making you almost slip off. That couldn’t happen because then you would be trampled by other sturmbeests.
You tried to shoot the creature under you, to gain your first kill. Struggling to get the arrow into its operculum, you try but then slip almost falling off.
“Y/n, you need to jump,” yelled Tsu’tey as he rode next to you.
“Why?!?”
“Look up,” Tsu’tey exclaimed looking up.
You move your head to see what laid in front of you.
“Are you serious?!?” You were just not having good luck today. A huge, thick tree was ahead in your path. Sooner or later you would be knocking into the tree.
“Y/n, listen to me you need to jump,” Tsu’tey ordered you.
“Wait, I need to kill this thing first.”
“No, we don’t have time. Y/n listen to me.”
“Trust me!” With that you quickly looked behind you to make sure no other sturmbeest or animal was coming next to you on your left. In one swift movement, you jumped to the side of the sturmbeest, you holding on to the side of its neck. You grab your arrow and forcefully, with a cry, stab the animal in its operculum, making it stumble and fall.
“Tsu’tey,” you quickly make a great, huge jump from the sturmbeest you were riding on to Tsu’tey’s direhorse.
Tsu’tey caught you in his arms, and then placed you behind him on his direhorse.
Tsu’tey rides away from the commotion. You taking long breaths and sweat producing on your forehead.
It is quiet for a couple of minutes and then Tsu’tey starts, “what was that woman? Do you know what you just did?”
You get off the direhorse and land on the grass. “I just did my first kill, I did it!”
Tsu’tey also got off the direhorse, “Y/n, you almost killed yourself! You also almost got others killed!”
“You see the key word is almost, I didn’t-”
“Do you see this as a joke? You could of gotten very hurt today, and I promised to myself and Eywa that I would protect you. You frightened me today y/n.”
“Ngaytxoa (I’m sorry). I just wanted you to be proud of me like how you are with your other students. I want you to see that I am willing to give my all to become a part of your people. To earn your guys trust. I needed to prove to you and, to myself.”
Tsu’tey walked closer to you, a angry scowl on his face. He placed his hands on your shoulders, “Skxawng (moron, idiot) be careful next time.” His face softened into a loving smile.
He placed his hands on your cheeks, giving them a small caress.
“And y/n, I am always proud of you.”

nuance, nazis, intentions, and other words.
(are you interested in a badly written unpopular opinion?? you came to the right place!)
i have a point to make about an issue i’ve been mad about for a pretty long time now. i’ll try to explain it as best as i can.
to start off, i want to make an analogy. this is about politics, i promise. just bear with me.
so somewhat recently i became vegan. through research i’ve come to a few conclusions, which include that meat/egg/dairy industries are some of the shittiest things in the world. i cannot justify using animal products anymore so i stopped.
now, there’s a few important points i’d like to stress: firstly, i could never say anyone who uses animal products is a bad person. i think they are contributing to a problem, but usually they’re not even fully aware of it. doing a bad thing does not make them a bad person. secondly, there is a huge difference between a person buying meat and the company that produced it. they are not on the same level, even though they are both part of the problem. thirdly, a company that produces meat/dairy/eggs is interested in keeping certain information away from its customers; it also actively promotes its products. that is a part of what makes it a shitty company.
now to application.
there are nazis in today’s world. actual people who advocate cruelty, discrimination, and genocide. they want to advertise their way of thinking, are fully aware of doing so, and at the same time, they want to make it seem as if they’re not doing any of it and pretend they’re not nazis (= witholding information) - in short, they are the companies in this analogy.
then there are people who come into contact with nazis and don’t recognize them as such. the nazis’ advertising techniques are as refined as the meat industry companies’. people don’t realize they’re laughing at a racist joke because the racist part is often not obvious, just as they enjoy a roasted chicken because the chicken’s suffering is not the stuff the companies put in their advertisements.
even if someone doesn’t want to support these companies, sometimes they might not even realize that’s exactly what they’re doing. they buy a product without noticing there’s eggs in it. they watch a youtube video without noticing a small nod to white supremacists. these things happen, it’s not easy to always be aware of them. we are human and humans make mistakes.
some of you might already know where i’m going with this.
when pewdiepie accidentally promotes a channel with hidden nazi propaganda, that is a mistake. this does not make him equal to a nazi, just as not noticing eggs in a product and eating it even though you’re vegan does not make you equal to the company that exploited the chicken which laid that egg.
when pewdiepie says a super racist word, that does not make him equal to a nazi, just as buying meat does not make you equal to the company that raised and killed that animal.
the first one is a mistake, the second one is someone doing a shitty thing (which still doesn’t make them a bad person).
equating mistakes and small shitty things to intentional propaganda is damaging. a black-and-white worldview serves the nazis. it feeds into their rhetoric. over-using a word makes it worthless; if everyone’s a nazi, no one really is.
don’t get me wrong - it is extremely important to hold an influential person up to a standard and make them aware of their mistakes. on the other hand it’s useless to simply proclaim how horrible they are and say they’re the same as an actual horrible person.
from time to time i scroll through an otherwise great blog and suddenly a text post starts shrieking at me omg pewdiepie is the biggest nazi ever i’m so glad i’m not dumb like Some People who like him and hate his guts instead.
i don’t want to make a post defending any of the problematic things he’s done. hell, i probably don’t know the details of half of the issues some have with him. i’m aware of the biggest ones and of the way he dealt with them, i like about half of his videos. i don’t think he’s a bad person, just as i don’t think he’s a flawless one. he is not a nazi though.
we are dealing with a purity culture. the moment someone fucks up, they’re thrown in the same category as literal nazis (who have been doing horrible things intentionally for years). let’s stop that nonsense and start actually judging shit in a nuanced way.
thank u for coming to my ted talk, i’m super tired, bye.

ASMR RESEARCH FOR GROUP PROJECT
Now You’ve Got the Shiveries: Affect, Intimacy, and the ASMR Whisper Community by Joceline Andersen 11/11/14
https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/1527476414556184
ASMR - intention, affect
-          This paper “examine[s] how ASMR videos create pleasure through a distant intimacy that relies on the heteronormative gender roles of care and the aural impression of the whisper for its implementation and how their shared space on YouTube further defines that intimacy as public and communal”
-          The ASMR community creates and exchanges videos designed to trigger tingles through screens, denying its nonnormative intimate nature and “the transgressiveness of their digital pleasure”
-          Relaxing head tingles helps with stress and insomnia, inducing comfort and bliss
-          “In the case of ASMR, affect and emotion exist hand in hand, tethered by intentionality, memory, and nostalgia. In this paper, I will explore the connotations of intimacy and care that create the affective ASMR experience to examine the ASMR community on YouTube as sharing in a public and therefore nonnormative experience of distant intimacy that reflects, if reluctantly, the potential of digital communities to make us feel”
-          Aural triggers eg whispering, rustling paper, tapping are physiologically charged - an affective experience (Massumi)
-          “the intention of care has a role in the way that these experiences manifest an affective experience with a content of pleasure.” Some videos role-play everyday tasks, including sounds we may find annoying in our day-to-day lives, but the intention the viewer brings in (to relax) and the assumed intention of the creator (to help others relax) changes the experience to that of care
-          Founder of ASMR research called it “a more polite term for ‘orgasm’. Tenuous links between sensation and science – it is claimed to be an autonomous response, but is ultimately fringe science similar to binaural beat listeners, which brings us back to the point about intentionality. Perhaps it is more of a placebo, and more about the community formed?
Community and Youtube
-          ASMR is a public phenomemon, as it spread across all social media and not just niche sites: “The ASMR community is aligned not only by their quest for affective experience but by their desire to share it through online media…”
-          Youtube is a big part of the community’s formation -  “youtube is the most public home of asmr”, “an archive and a site of creative exchange”
The voice
-          Usually delivered by female creators. Role-played performance rather than cold instructions.
-          Voice is important – videos often only show certain body parts (hands, mouth). Focus directed to actions and gesures. Close-ups jar familiar conventions of how a person is framed on a screen. Meditative attention on body parts, sometimes to the point of abstraction.
-          Sound over video: binaural recording is getting more popular;  “increasingly sophisticated audioscapes while the video quality remains poor. The video component is secondary to the experience and exists primarily because of the affordances of YouTube”
-          Whisper as powerful in a hypersonic world. The whisper requires a closeness between speaker and listener for communication. Connotations to intimate relationships like mother and child (or conversations you have at sleepovers with friends). “The whisper recreates intimacy without the need for physical presence”
-          Whisper demands more attention, so the listener is more intent on sounds, and considering most people use headphones, the effect of whispers in one’s ear are more intense. Private and intimate exchange despite it being public.
-          Quality of voice as carrier of meaning, rather than the words themselves.
-          The whisperer is ‘hyper-present’, creating an intimacy, a presence made possible thru binaural mics and immersive headphone sound. Affect involves impressions, impression implies contact. Movement creates emotional content. 2 bodies are connected, are able to impress upon another.
Impression and non-normative intimacy
-          Impression created thru affect at a distance is crucially aural. Body casts its impression thru voice. Voice implies flesh body. Listening as act of touch (sound waves). Thus impressions are created through the voice and video (though video is not as affective as we’ve discussed above)
-          Affective impression at a distance – distant intimacy. Close personal attention is a trigger that suggests physical proximity, but is remotely evoked through video. And distant not only spacially but temporally too – you can watch a video a year later after it was released.
Distant intimacy can be useful for people who maybe experience social anxiety or cannot physically experience intimacy. Maybe it’s good cause it’s controlled (you choose when to watch, can pause if needed). And from the other side, you make one video and can touch many. Like an artwork, an encounter, a ‘disruptive’ force in a way.
Also interesting considering the emphasis placed on romantic, sexual relationships as the main, most valid source of intimacy and care. What about friendships and other platonic relationships? And what about a collective sense of care i.e. you don’t need to know someone personally to care about them
-          Distant intimacy – experienced as a group in absence of normal definitions of physical proximity make it “nonstandard intimacy”
-          Intimate experiences in heteronormative culture are limited to couples in private. So you can’t experience pleasure with strangers, especially sexual pleasure. ASMR falls into a zone  where “the spillage of eroticism into everyday social life seems transgressive in a way that provokes normal aversion”
-          ASMR pleasure ranges from relaxation to eroticism. A lot of creators claim it is non-sexual. The affective charge of ASMR emerges w/o standard ‘closeness’ (not in romantic couple context, not physically close in proximity) – so it is reluctantly placed in nonstandard intimacy.
-          Even though it is non-normative, creators still rely on normative scenarios of intimacy to provide emotional content behind the affective charge. Intimate care is provided by females. There is often a child-mother relationship being built between viewer and creator. Even when men make these videos, they participate in tasks gendered as female.
But female creators are choosing to do this – some empowerment? Do they get paid?
Summary: digital and physical
-          Tho enabled thru tech, ASMR still relies on attention to the body and its sensations. Exists thru video streaming platforms, low tech, is sensual thru reclaiming care paradigms of personal attention, touch and meditation thru distant intimacy. In sci-fi, digital pleasure enabled thru computers – films that imagine pleasure as a drug that hooks the brain to a computer, “a cyborg high”. Asmr stands between – addiction is not only pleasure but intimacy, relationship is not only distant but anonymous.
-          Ideal cyborg – uses computer to reinstate the body in shared experiences, rather than leaving out the body purely for mental digital experience. ASMR follows this dictum to the letter, uniting a group of people who use the archive provided by the Internet to focus intensely on a sensation triggered by the impression of a body transmitted through the ear in a nonnormative public experience of pleasure and distant intimacy.
-          Asmr relies on the intimacy and care. Relaxation carried through emotional content, not just the sounds. Asmr uses tech to create new access to pleasure. “the ASMR community allows us to examine what intimacy will look like as we are increasingly linked to each other through the Internet rather than in person.”
-          Distant intimacy breaks with heteronormative culture, releasing a digital-enabled intimacy that is a queer intimacy. While ASMR videos as shared on YouTube draw on real-world paradigms of care, the attachments that ASMRers have to videos beyond their sensory power helps us as media scholars to envision a future where these queer experiences of computer-enabled intimacy are as emotionally compelling as those of maternal care, personal touch, or sex. Whatever the affect created, it is clear that distant intimacy carries emotional value, and that these sensations can be released, by strangers and acquaintances, remotely through digital networks.
There are more noteworthy things to discuss, but I’ll end the notes here as there is already more than enough to digest.
Ideas
Create art that lies between ASMR, oddly satisfying videos (another topic I researched that felt close to ASMR), trance/visionary art aesthetic, music video, and modern witchcraft – providing vids that can be of service, as a form of queer care (nonstandard intimacy). Because for me, behind art, is a desire to relieve suffering through providing pleasure, a desire to care for the world and its creatures, to disrupt the status quo.
Maybe create a device or a platform/software to share the videos in their own context?

Power of the Internet 3
Summary: We moved in together - Chloe Beale
You can find the first one here and the second one here.
Hope you guys enjoy it :D
Suppressing a yawn, Beca stopped in front of the door and glanced down at her wrist watch, inhaling sharply. Waking up at 7 am on a Saturday to spent the day packing all of Chloe’s stuff into the truck and then unpack into their new house was going to be brutal. Sliding the sunglasses over her eyes, Beca rang the doorbell and instantly heard the now grown Bella scraping her claws on the surface.
Not long after, Chloe pulled the door open and rushed her inside. She was in her white bathrobe, make-up halfway done and her hair in a loose bun. Beca gaped at her.
“You’re not ready?” She asked in disbelief, crossing her arms over her chest to show she was annoyed.
Chloe rolled her eyes and quickly pecked her lips, wobbling back inside her bedroom. “Babe, it’s 7:30 am. I just woke up. What do you want from me?”
As Beca walked to the bedroom, she noted the bare walls and several carton boxes on the ground. Chloe packed up her whole apartment nicely but Beca groaned at the thought of the heavy labor. Beca collapsed onto the mattress and stared at the ceiling.
“Exactly. It’s way too early for us to be up. Tell me again why do we have to move in the morning?” Beca whined tiredly and pushed the glasses off her head, rubbing her eyes with her fist.
She grabbed her mascara and continued doing her light make-up. “Because I have a lot of stuff and it’s gonna take us more than one day anyway so we might as well start early. The U-Haul is going to be here in 30 minutes and I still have to start my vlog.”
Beca snapped her head up, looking at the back of Chloe’s head with her eyes wide open. “No, Chlo we have too many stuff to do today. You can’t possible think about putting this mess on video.” She motioned at her face.
“It’s a special day in our relationship. I have to film it.” Chloe argued, focused on nailing her eyeliner. “I already mentioned it last week that we’re moving so they are expecting a video. I can’t let them down.”
Beca puffed but didn’t protest and laid back down, Bella quickly joining her beside her head. “Fine but please don’t put me in it.”
Chloe rolled her eyes. Tired Beca sometimes bordered on annoying but Chloe more times then not found her adorable. “Okay, baby. You can take a twenty minute nap if you want to but I’m waking you up as soon as the truck is here. We have a long day ahead of us.”
As soon as the clock hit 7:30, Chloe climbed on her bed carefully to avoid stepping on Bella who was draped across Beca’s stomach and crawled over her girlfriend. Leaning down slowly, she began to prep her face with little kisses starting at her forehead then proceeding down to her nose then finally kissing her lips.
Beca stirred as Chloe’s lips pressed down onto hers and quickly returning the kiss, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. Bella whined at the added weight before slipping out between the couple and angrily laying down on the floor. Finally without a barrier, Chloe melted into the embrace and pulled away from the kiss.
“Good morning.” She whispered, wanting to maintain their bubble as long as possible because she knew their day’s about to be a little hectic. She pecked her lips a couple of times playfully while Beca toyed with her hair.
“Can’t we just stay here all day?” Her tone so soft and child-like Chloe hated denying her anything but she didn’t have a choice.
“I’d love nothing more than to stay here. You know how much I need cuddle time with you but think about it. When we moved into our home, we got to be like this all the time. No more driving back and forth and bouncing from one place to another. We’ll have a home. Together.”
“I know and I love the sound of that but the actual moving part...Chlo, we have to lift your whole apartment.” Beca exaggerated, making Chloe snort into her shoulder.
“I wasn’t the one who said no to hiring movers so don’t blame me. You brought this on yourself.” Chloe said and quickly pushed herself off Beca by her arms and get out of the bed. If she didn’t move, she knew Beca would hold her there all day long.
“Argh, I didn’t know you had so many stuff.” Beca whined before sitting up. “Besides they were too expensive. I could move three houses myself using the money they wanted.”
Chloe smoothed down her hair and chuckled. “I think we could’ve afford them, babe. We’re not exactly shortage on money at the moment.”
With Beca’s working on her debut album after producing three before and Chloe’s ever growing following on YouTube, money wasn’t a problem for the time being. Beca was always careful with their spending and it payed off when they bought their very first house right outside the city with a beautiful garden in the back yard.
Beca opened her mouth to argue when loud honking interrupted their conversation. Bella barked alarmingly and Chloe bounced on her toes in excitement.
“The truck’s here!”
Beca jumped up into the truck and grabbed the last box from the back. After successfully loading up the truck with Chloe’s belongings and Bella in the seat between them up front, Beca drove away while Chloe smiled emotionally at her first home. Beca squeezed her knuckles comfortingly and let her shed a couple of tears before she returned back to her Chloe.
Pulling up in front of the house, Beca felt her breath caught into her throat at the sight. Although, they were here a week ago to finalize paperwork, this time it felt different. She knew she was coming home.
They spent the whole morning and well into the afternoon, maneuvering around each other and moving back and forth between the front yard and inside the spacious living room. Chloe had the idea that for the time being, they should only put the boxes just inside the house and later on they could sort them out little by little.
And that’s how they worked until Beca had the pleasure of carrying the last box inside. Carefully jumping off the platform, Beca made her way to the sidewalk before two high pitched squeal sounded behind her. Cautiously turning around, Beca saw two teenage girls with their hands over their mouths and literally jumping up and down.
Beca’s eyes widen in fear.
“Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!” One of them screamed and Beca wanted to run back inside the house.
She loved her fans, knowing she would be nowhere without them but meeting face to face was scary for the brunette. Their fans were so passionate about their relationship that sometimes it bordered on creepy and Beca didn’t know how she felt about meeting them in front of their house. One word on Twitter and the next day, hundreds of girls and boys would be screaming in their front yard.
“Beca Mitchell! Oh my God. We’re such huge fans!” The two girls inched closer and unconsciously Beca took a step back. She needed to handle this carefully.
“H-Hey guys. How are you?” She asked, putting down the box by the gate and turning towards them. She prayed Chloe stays inside.
“No way!” The blonde girl gasped as her eyes flickered between the U-Haul and the box, connecting the dotes inside her head. “There’s no way Chloe Beale and Beca Mitchell are moving in my street! Alice, pinch me. This can’t be real.” She ordered dramatically holding her arm out for her girlfriend and when she still stood in front of her idol, she let out a squeal. “It is real!”
“Beca, can we get an autograph? Please?” The brunette - Alice - asked Beca seemingly calmer but the twitching hand gave away her facade.
“And a picture!” It came out more of an order than a question but Beca nodded.
“Let me go inside to grab a pen and a piece of paper, okay? I’ll be right back.” She said carefully and lifted the box again, walking away from the girls and safely inside her home. She could hear Chloe upstairs talking loudly, probably vlogging her house tour video she promised her fans while Bella slept on the couch. Beca quickly fished out a notebook and a pen from her purse and ran outside the yard.
The girls were still there, waiting as patiently as they could as Beca signed the papers and took two selfies with both of them individually. She was on the urge of bidding them goodbye when the front door opened and the three figures snapped their attention to the redhead watching back her footage on the camera.
“Baby, do you know where we put the tripod? I can’t find it anywhere and I kinda need - “ At the loud screaming, Chloe whipped her head up.
“Chloe! Oh my GOD!”
Beca deadpanned when Chloe yelped as well and ran to the girls, quickly wrapping both of her arms around them. To say Chloe treated her fans like family would be an understatement. The redhead always took the time to interact with her followers properly, giving them lots of hugs and kisses, signing everything they handed to her and doing an almost proper photoshoot to make sure they had the best experience.
The three girls chatted away a mile a minute as Beca stood frozen on the outside. At one point, Chloe even turned on her camera and introduced the girls, making them almost cry of joy.
Beca had to subtly pull her away and inside their home, but not before asking the girls politely not to say anything about their address online or any others and while Chloe wholeheartedly believed them when they promised, Beca wasn’t so sure but she couldn’t do anything about it at the moment, so she let it go.
As the sun set and the moon appeared, the young couple retreated back into their bedroom for the first time. They unpacked necessities like mugs and toothbrushes but were too tired to really start the process, opting to leave it for tomorrow.
Beca laid down on the mattress, stretching out limbs and taking up all the space on the queen size bed while Chloe showered and got ready for bed. A small smile blossomed on her face at the domestic feeling of it all.
Soon, Chloe came out of the en-suite bathroom and crawled on all four until she reached Beca’s lips, kissing her tenderly.
“I’m exhausted.” She whispered between nips, then collapsed on top of her wrapping her whole body around Beca.
The brunette ran her fingers lightly over Chloe’s spine, smoothing the redhead. “Did you shoot your video? You didn’t let down your fans?” She joked softly, her finger wounding up in Chloe’s hair, messaging her scalp lovingly.
Chloe smiled into her shoulders, chest heaving up and down in small laughter.
“No, I didn’t let them down. I upload the video next week.” At gentle rise and fell of Beca’s breathing started to lure her into sleep as they both remained silent.
Chloe was at the edge of slumber when Beca’s soft tone reached her ears.
“Welcome home, baby.”

INTERVIEW: Keeping English Dubbing Alive In The Wake Of COVID-19
Tumblr media
With the state of emergency affecting the rate of production in Japan, the anime industry has taken steps to become operational once again, but under new safety guidelines. Part of those safety guidelines includes changing the setup for voice recordings. In Japan, voice actors will typically work in groups where they will all record an episode in the studio together, but that's not really an option right now in a COVID-19 world. Instead, Japanese voice actors have had to downsize when it comes to voice recordings, and are now recording multiple episodes one actor at a time. While this is a big change for the dubbing industry in Japan that will require some time to adjust to, this method of recording is actually the standard in the States. So, if Japanese voice actors are adjusting to the way English voice actors record anime, then how are English voice actors recording during the COVID-19 pandemic? The answer is ... remotely.
  Adapting To Remote Recordings
At the time this article is written, other countries have slowly begun to open back up, however, some businesses and industries in the U.S. remain closed. Businesses like the dubbing industry have had to adapt to different methods in order to continue to operate. When it came time to conduct remote voiceover sessions, some voice actors found themselves ready — or at least somewhat ready. Like voice actress Faye Mata (Konosuba, The Rising of the Shield Hero). "I wasn't super prepared, but I had looked into recording remotely before we were all forced into that hikikomori (shut-in) life so I had a general idea of what I'd need. I guess it gave me a reason to finally take the leap."
Other voice actors, on the other hand, weren't as prepared for work-from-home life, as was the case for voice actress Laura Stahl (Welcome To Demon School Irumi-Kun, The Promised Neverland). "Oh, I was soooo not prepared!" says Stahl. "At the time I was working off of an 'all-in-one' monitor/computer, auditioning with a very basic USB mic. I had never had a remote record session before. Not to mention I didn't have the chance to go home and work on changing that situation for over a month into lockdown. I was staying with a friend for a little while. The whole thing was anxiety-inducing."
Having to quickly adapt to the new workflow didn't just mean recording from home. It also meant voice actors having to create an environment in their living space that is optimal for voice overwork. Voice actor Chris Hackney, (Tower of God, Fire Emblem: Three Houses) explains, "When we had to stop going into studios, it was a mad dash to try and get a decent enough acoustic setup in my home so that I could hopefully be up to an acceptable standard to the studios."
Voice actors have the tough challenge of creating a space that could produce audio equivalent to that of audio produced in a sound studio. Depending on space and funds, for some actors that meant building/investing in a recording booth, for others, it meant soundproofing a space in their homes, such as closets! Voice actor Robbie Daymond, (Sailor Moon, The God of High School) took to Twitter to show fans a handcrafted recording booth complete with custom framework and ventilation system.

Mata explains, "I went through a breakup just before lockdown and went into full work mode, buying and upgrading my home studio and a streaming setup because I was determined to stay positive and be successful rather than stew in sad panda mode." In a YouTube video, Mata takes fans on a virtual tour of Porygon-Q, a prebuilt Studiobricks One Plus booth. "I used to record in my closet," says Mata. "But realizing how long we'd be out of studios, I didn't want to gamble anymore on neighbors taking random showers at like 4 PM (those SHHHHH water sounds are brutal). Also, I don't want them to think I'm murdering people all the time. My roommate has received texts from the neighbors asking if everything's alright because they heard screeching and yelling." Porygon-Q is equipped with various microphones for animation, video games, and commercials, "[Thick] squishy pads people stand on while washing dishes that genius moms probably invented so I don't get tired standing during long sessions, and a scented unlit candle so it always smells nice," explains Mata.
youtube
As previously mentioned, due to each actor's unique circumstance, every setup is different. "My recording space is in my bedroom," says Stahl. "I have a solid-state mini gaming pc mounted to the wall behind my desk, two monitors for ease of dubbing, carpets on the floor and foam on the ceiling to dampen noise — and I suppose the most unique thing about my space is that I ran a track in a U shape on my ceiling around my desk and hung sound blankets from them." This home studio sounds pretty original, and Stahl had a lot to think of when creating her space. "I considered using my closet, but it's not very large and would've been cramped and uncomfortable, which is a distraction for acting. I didn't want to use the common areas for ease of living for my housemates, and I didn't have an [exorbitant] amount of money or time to spend on something like a true booth. This seemed the most [efficient], and cost-effective solution."
Creating a home space conducive for voice recordings was the first part of the remote recording process for actors. The next step would be working with studios on what is needed to conduct smooth recording sessions. Dubbing studios like Funimation gave fans a sneak peek into how they conduct their remote recordings with the release of My Hero Academia Episode 84. In a Twitter post, ADR director Colleen Clinkenbeard describes Funimation's remote process where special dub kits were sent to the cast. She also shows fans an iPad with the software to be used for the session which Clinkenbeard describes as a "mini little Pro Tools." When it comes time to actually record from home, "It gets easier the more you work with each production house," says Stahl. "They [studios] do each have their own particular way they want to do things — and the first session with a client since lockdown began is always a little nerve-wracking. Then you start to get into the groove of how you need to prepare for each session depending on who you're working with that day."
  — Funimation (@FUNimation) April 10, 2020
SDI Media, the studio who dubbed DEVILMAN Crybaby, discusses workflow and tips for voice actors when setting up their recording space in a recently published article. With each studio taking a different approach, Chris Hackney finds that "Most studios are using some combination of Zoom/Skype/Etc to talk to me while I record and then there's various professional methods to stream the high-quality audio back to the studio. A bad Internet connection means you could also blow a perfect take, so it's a lot to think of. The other weird thing is sort of doing my own engineering, where I'll have to think 'Oh, this line is going to get kind of loud,' so I may have to manually control that so we don't blow a take. It's a brave new world for us all, but I'm happy to make it work." We can only imagine the extra level of difficulty added to each recording session now that voice actors need to become more cognizant of not only their performance but the technical results. While this must be difficult for the VAs, it does make sense seeing as everyone involved in the production of dubbing has to go the extra mile to continue to operate — including the audio engineers. "Bless the engineers right now," Hackney says. "Because they have the Herculean task of making all of us sound like we recorded in the same space."
  The Challenges Of Remote Recordings
Maybe you used to think recording anime voice-overs from your home seemed like a dream. But now we know it doesn't come without its challenges. Studios are specifically designed for conducting smooth and efficient recordings blocking out any and all noise from the outside, but every actor's remote space presents its own obstacles that need to be worked through. Dangers to a solid recording session can be cars passing by, aircrafts traveling overhead, unexpected maintenance work, or lawnmowers, just to name a few. For Chris Hackney, it's "Trash day and my kids! Myself — and I know many others — just don't have the kind of money or space to build something top-of-the-line like at a studio, so we're at the mercy of whatever the world has to throw at us. Trash day? Gotta wait for them to leave or schedule around it. My kids play a little too loud? Blown take. Everyone's doing their best to make this work, and I'm thankful for the patience."
Tumblr media
Remote recordings definitely present their fair share of challenges, but does working from home mean more work overall? "100 percent," says Mata. "As far as working in LA goes, eliminating the wait in traffic for two hours every session gave me more time in my day! ... to be even more of [a] workaholic." For others, the answer is a little more complicated because once again, every voice actor's situation is different. "Actually I try to limit how many sessions I put into a day, or at least space them out well because I share this living space," says Stahl. "I can't ask my roommates not to leave the house between the hours of 9-4 PM just because I live over the garage. Nor can I ask my roommate who works in the office by my room to whisper in all of his Zoom meetings and phone calls. And I don't want to leave my air conditioning off for 6-8 hours in August. I try to be [courteous] to my housemates."
Is the Future of English Dubbing Remote?
With the prolonged closures, no one really knows when English dubbing will become fully operational at studios again. Because of the uncertainty surrounding the virus, and with actors and studios adjusting to this new way of dubbing, it begs the question if the dubbing industry will adopt remote recordings permanently. For Chris Hackney, the answer is, "Not at all. The current environment is a fine substitute for the time being, but having a studio full of talent and the creative team can't be beat."
But this doesn't mean all talent are anxious to get back in the studio. "I see a healthy mixture of both," says Mata. "Some people have been recording remotely for a long time. When the US gets its ship together and it's safe to record in the same studio again, that is honestly best for audio consistency as far as space + equipment goes ... but even then, it's possible to adapt." And Stahl? "I think it's going to be a mixture. I do think many projects will go back to in-person recording. But at the same time, the fact that many actors have improved their home setups for this situation widens the talent pool. If a show that's produced in LA really wants an actor who's living in Atlanta now — it's more feasible. Or perhaps, if there are some actors that wouldn't consider a supporting role because it may not be worth the commute from say the OC to Burbank to them — now maybe they can negotiate. Only time will tell."
The COVID-19 virus has caused worry and disruption on a global scale. Many are unsure when things will return to normal, and even when they do, will businesses continue to operate under the safety guidelines implemented during the pandemic, or will they try to return to the same workflow as once before? As Stahl said, "Only time will tell." But until then, great job to all the voice actors, studio staff, and recording engineers who are working hard to keep bringing anime to the fans!

i’ve been feelin real conflicted recently and I’m not sure what to do so i’m just gunna do a big brain sneeze n then we can move on and be happy ok? (also if you have advice plz help)
1. i’m thinkin bout moving again. I’ve only just moved out n become a lodger but it’s not really working super great? I’m a vegan living with someone who loves meat and cheese and a dog that has raw meat (stinky meat) in the kitchen constantly and it’s neither of their fault but it’s rlly difficult to be around? I miss living on my own. There’s a bunch of other factors I don’t really feel like sharing but yano.. HOWEVER, I’m saving so much money and I could continue saving so much more if I stick it out until my first year runs out. So my options are - move out, struggle financially, but be in a nice place, feel comfortable, be walking distance to work and uni, have flexibility with filming etc. Or stay a lodger, not feel as comfortable, save around £1000 to move in the summer, and just struggle a lil emotionally. What’s more important tho like financial security or subtle emotional discomfort? I dunno!!!
2. i’m havin a creativity crisis. I started this blog recently and I loved it and I’ve got articles ready, but I cant bring myself to publish them because I’m putting so much pressure on the photographs I’m taking to have alongside. I feel like the things i’m producing aren’t good enough and so I can’t publish anything. Really I just need to go out and take as many pictures as possible to just compile a file as backup.
3. youtube There most likely won’t be a video this week as I’m staying at paul’s for a bit of a break. I may change my mind at some point but I’m not promising anything. Next week it should be back to normal though.
thats the main things. if anyone wants to give any advice for anything then i’ll gladly have a listen. soz if this was a lil sad to read. lov u <3

They give rise to kids to take to other dudes to father yet with them u see them in big cars minus those kids, just wanna burden people to via their movies say if their kids near ya u became like them not knowing they are finished in oil and artificial cooking oil as pawpaw grows in diverse nations used to make gadgets.
Britain can sink down as with all the explanation of 2 in 1 4 coil generator, kinda, u feel a huge thing like dinosaurs trampling on the ground and uk picture cames to ya mind they have refused to listen. They will meet their ends together, the jew family and Britain with their dirty ways of trade and lack of understanding
Some friends are making gadgets even in their sitting room like carlirecords studio yet the kikuyu still says they are made, they need collection from Kenyans all-over the world then get to that hall with people and make this gadgets when seeing or put in a camera to stop all. They are still in jealousy bro.
The below link shows how to counteract dubious business that promotes class and hooliganism among those people who can make artificial oil and sell among the original 1, don’t buy oil in supermarkets cause u promote the above, buy sunflower, groundnuts or simsim from the firm not artificial 1 and make ya own

Bottles they now make like plastic water bottles or kbl liquor ones or soda ones, take the daily inventory of how much are always collected then hinder the people who supply them by reducing price and take them there to gain in a 100% basis as they don’t locate dem but make them thus refuting that they are made 4 people not to know and promote their dubious culture. Barcodes should be place in the above bottle so that the people who take them got the barcode scanner to identify if they were from store or made to stop the down behavior and the people who take them be given certificate to identify them and how much can be taken per day not just taking any amount. They ones which were not in store cant be sold but crushed to be mixed with cement 4 building or filling up query or making other gadget like welding plates under spit on the container method in the dark dude
If u like sweet food or just food it tells you love something very much which people wanna know and have not know or known, but to ya its a hurdle, that’s the investigation bro.
Making it a routine in discussing people past character even if bad make u not go nowhere, blocks ya way and most luos and many tribe champion themselves in this but they know not and that’s why they never go far, u let it go free dude
Up 2 10 a/c in following this a/c I opened in 1 computer in town but whenever I got back to them I just change the password not to get back to it, like I still got like 7 a/c which I will use later including this 1, so which computer did I open them in to switch a/c bro? Think twice dude, time is of the essence!!!

This are the web browsers i got in my flash-disk, so to shift a/c u got 2 know which 1 i used or-else is a waste of time bro
With an arab if u want to identify her, that blood, when u look at her belly or teeth even in pictures, kinda, u feel like u wanna vomit.
A timer that is automatic that sense a drop of voltage at 9 v from 12 v to start charging the battery for 6 hrs then stops no-matter the voltage being at 11-12 v depending on the newness of the wet cell but with a 24 v battery but on a solar charger controller it sense the drop at maybe 12 then switches of automatically to do the above
With making food with cut pieces or chop parts of that maybe fruit, u hit the cut fruit from far with a long rod or stick then dismount and boom ya food formed.
I can use bolt browser but i lie i used mozilar to make u employ all the tactics to shift dat a/c which will never happen, kinda, wasting ya time rather accept
Dont start giving kebi names when defeated, shift a/.c boss or accept he is above ya, nothing u know compared to him under the sun as in ecclesiastics
If 1 say u r kikuyu it means they wanna cut ya and makes 1 wild, have u seen 1 u no wild? MAYBE IS THIS BRO!!!!

My Diamond Edge Experience
, alright im just gonna list off everything that happened
so we got there at like 3
and the concert didnt start until 7
so we were waiting for quite awhile
there were a lot of people selling merch but i didnt want to spend too much money because i wanted to buy official merch
which they didnt sell btw just a warning
i was pissed
but anyway, everyone was super sweet
and there were so many people wearing rose quartz and serenity
i was wearing black lmao
but people were handing out free bracelets and stuff
and this girl saw that i was wearing my vernon shirt and she gave me vernons 17 Carat black ver. postcard and a Going Seventeen photocard and then she took a selfie w me and my friend
she was just so sweet
whoever you are, i love you.
and i ended up getting some pretty vernon fanart, a seungcheol photocard, and a Hoshi fan pack (which I did pay $10 for)
i ended up meeting the producer from Form of Therapy which is a v good Youtube channel
my voice cracked so much tho lmao
and he filmed me for a youtube video and i was sO AWKWARD I WANT TO DIE OH MY GOD
i will actually be surprised if he uses the footage
anyway, after several hours we finally got into the venue
i actually saw god when that air conditioner hit me
we went to our seats after realizing there wasnt gonna be merch
and while we were waiting for it to start they were playing the mvs for Very Nice, Check In, Healing, Adore U, Love Letter, Mansae, BoomBoom, and Pretty U all on a loop
and the crowd was so hyped during the MVs alone man
and it finally hot 7:00 and suddenly they played Love Letter again
but it was out of order
so we knew something was going on
and the after Love Letter they played Dont Wanna Cry and everyone freaked the fuck out because it was the first time they played it
and so we all stood up and after the music video the lights went out
and i swear to i god i was so shooketh
seventeen came out on stage after a dramatic opening and began Pretty U
and it was so loud
i couldnt even hear myself speak
and i tried to wave my lightstick but it had no batteries because im dumb
and they performed a few more songs before pausing to introduce themselves
hoshi was so cute oh my god
he kept yelling “HOSHI’S BACK”
throughout the entire concert
it was sssoooooo cute
joshua and vernon obviously spoke in english the whole time but the rest of the members spoke in korean and had a translator which was rlly cool
they taught us a fanchant where they would yell “SEVENTEEN CARAT”
and we would clap twice and put our hands to the side and say “EDGE”
it was great
performance unit performed OMG, Highlight, and Swimming fool
and nobody knew the rlly fast highlight fan chant but me and this one girl
and we made eye contact 2 rows apart whilst screaming seventeens names at the top of our lungs
it was magical
hip hop unit performed If I, Check In, and Vol. 14 from the mixtape
ive said it many times but seungcheol had me so shook
he went fucking IN during Check In
like
damn b
vocal unit performed Habits, a spooky version of Dont Listen in Secret, and We Gonna Make it Shine
Dont Listen in Secret is one of my all time favorite songs
and the spooky version made it so much better
its so underrated
they all performed great bops
like Crazy in Love and Chuck and stuff
and then they stopped to talk again and they were like “yo we’re gonna leave after this song but we love you”
AND I WAS DEVASTATED
because the main songs they hadn’t performed were Don’t Wanna Cry and Healing
and I knew they were gonna perform Don’t Wanna Cry
but i was looking forward to healing so much because its my favorite
so anyway
they performed Don’t Wanna Cry
and then left stage
and a video of them all talking about what Carats mean to them started playing w smile flower playing the the bg
everyone was crying
mingyu was like “you guys are my oxygen”
and it was hella cheesy but i cried anyway
and then the video ended
anD THEY CAME BACK ON STAGE AND WE WERE SHOOK
AND THEY WERE LIKE “IT’S NOT REALLY OVER BITCHES”
and they performed Shining Diamond
i swear to god ive never screamed “I know I’m only seventeen I only got a few dollars” so loud
and then they performed Healing and i was emo bc its my favorite
and seungcheol got on dino’s back and i was living
and then they all did speeches and stuff
and it was so cute i was hella emo
“HOSHI’S BACK”
hoshi did aegyo
we all wanted to die but oh my god i saw hoshi doing aegyo live
so the concert ended fr
and they left stage
and us hi touch people stayed in our seats while everyone left
it took like 30-45 minutes for hi touch to actually start
but it was probably so seventeen could rest
when it finally started the line moved quick
security were a bunch of assholes
we were ushered through there, man
Joshua was the first in line and he asked me how i was and we all know how soft and pretty his voice is but oh my god let me just say his voice is so soft and pRETTY I WAS SPEAKING TO AN ANGEL
seungcheols hair was wet and when i touched his hand i squeeled and he gave me a look of concern
my friend was in front of me and she said “layla calm down” in front of vernon
and vernon looked so confused
but then he got to me and he was like “ah yes, that makes sense”
it was so embarrasing i hate myself
at the very end minghao was thanking everyone and i got to hold his hand and tell him i love him and asdfghjkl hes so perfect
i blanked out for most of the hi touch and i dont remember most of it because of how shitty security was
they were yelling and pushing us through so fast
uughhhh i wish i couldve filmed
overall i did enjoy it a lot
it just wasnt super memorable because of how fast we were going
like i literally dont remember interacting with most of the members
im really mad
but anyway as soon as we got out there was a girl on the floor sobbing
which i wouldve done too if i wasn’t so disappointed with my hi touch tbh
but afterwards this girl went up to my friend and was like “did you do the hi touch?”
and my friend was like “yeah”
and the girl was like “cAN I TOUCH YOUR HAND?”
and my friend was like “yeah”
and the girl screamed
and it sounds really weird but i promise it was adorable
and from there the night ended and ive never wanted to die more because of post concert depression
a summary: mmt sucks, carats are the sweetest fandom ever, HOSHI’S BACK, seventeen will literally fuck you up live, its def worth it, my love for hansol was reinforced, seungcheol needs to chill, and hi touch was enjoyable but it also sucked and now i wanna die

The 15 Best Albums of 2019 (So Far)
Tumblr media
We are just over halfway through 2019, and the amount of amazing music that we have been blessed with thus far is nearly enough to help us forget about everything less than amazing going on in the world around us...nearly. So, with an ever-growing list of albums, mini-albums, projects, mixtapes, and the like filling up our Spotify queue, we wanted to take a moment to recognize some of the best projects that have graced our eardrums this year. In no particular order, these are 15 of the best albums of 2019 (so far).
Billie Eilish – WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?
youtube
Favorite track: “bury a friend”
2019 was undoubtedly Billie Eilish’s breakout year. From delivering a momentous Coachella debut to delivering one of the most anticipated albums of the decade, Eilish did not just leave her mark, she took a blazing hot iron rod and engraved her name. WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? arrived as a thrilling, hypnotic, and brilliantly ominous vision from one of pop’s new stars. Doing more than simply delivering on all the hype that had come to encompass the pop star in the matter of less than year, Eilish broke free of any expectations to present an album that took the world by storm.
Aries – Welcome Home
youtube
Favorite track: “BAD NEWS”
Aries is arguably one of the most underrated figures in the music scene today. Originally rising to cult-like fame with a series of YouTube videos that spanned the range from production deconstruction videos to re-imagining Migos as a Mariachi band, the producer and artist’s debut mini album WELCOME HOME proved him to be so much more than just an enigmatic viral force. With an infectious blend of emo, hip-hop, and alternative rock aesthetics, Aries brought to a life a world brimming with soaring highs and crushing lows.
Lizzo – CUZ I LOVE YOU
youtube
Favorite track: “Juice”
Self-love feels like Lizzo sounds. Combining her upbringing in Houston rap, gospel soul, and classical flute (yes, the queen kills it on the flute), Lizzo’s major label debut Cuz I Love You cemented her place in the modern hip-hop vernacular. Abounding with humor, charisma, and an overflowing wealth of sexual and body positivity, the 14-track offering is a deft illustration of the power of simply loving yourself and singing your praises delivered in a remarkable package of hip-hop and R&B.
Kevin Abstract – ARIZONA BABY
youtube
Favorite track: “Peach” (feat. bearface, JOBA, Dominic Fike)
Few artists can maintain the level of visceral excitement that BROCKHAMPTON leader Kevin Abstract keeps up throughout ARIZONA BABY’s 11-track run. Produced by Jack Antonoff and featuring Ryan Beatty, Dominic Fike, and fellow BROCKHAMPTON members JOBA and bearface, the solo project cemented Abstract as an undeniable hip-hop auteur.  With the way Abstract waxes poetry on his past demons, dreams of rap stardom in the context of first seeing Tyler, the Creator live, and the lived gay experience, ARIZONA BABY is essential listening for 2019 and beyond.
Tyler, the Creator – IGOR
youtube
Favorite track: “EARFQUAKE” (feat. Playboi Carti, Charlie Wilson, Jessy Wilson)
Any “best albums of 2019” compilation list that does not feature Tyler, the Creator’s IGOR is sorely missing the mark. Tyler, the Creator has long existed as one of rap’s most polarizing figures, but, with the release of Flower Boy in 2017, he released what felt like a landmark album… and then came IGOR. With bold experimental production, a host of spectacular features, and a sound quite unlike anything else out there at the moment, this is Tyler, the Creator’s magnum opus. Well, at least until he drops his next album.
Lewis Capaldi – DIVINELY UNINSPIRED TO A HELLISH EXTENT
youtube
Favorite track: “Grace”
In the span of less than two years, Lewis Capaldi has witnessed a meteoric rise to fame. The Scottish singer-songwriter went from amazing crowds in pubs in his native Whitburn to selling out arenas across the world, all thanks to the power of his voice and moving songwriting. It is an innate gift that Scottish singer channels in his long-awaited album DIVINELY UNINSPIRED TO A HELLISH EXTENT, which arrives as a heart-rending portrait of an artist on the rise to worldwide stardom. Plus, it doesn’t hurt he’s a hilarious guy with a stellar Tinder bio to boot.
slowthai – Nothing Great About Britain
youtube
Favorite track: “Gorgeous”
Nothing Great About Britain is an obvious social commentary on a post-Brexit Britain, but it is more than just a reaction to a singular political event. The debut album from critically-acclaimed UK rapper slowthai, Nothing Great About Britain is an unflinching glimpse into everything from his upbringing in the council estates of North Hampton to a country increasingly mired in toxic nationality. Sonically, slowthai’s debut is as complex as the social and political issue the UK rapper deftly tackles.
Stella Donnelly – Beware of the Dogs
youtube
Favorite track: “Old Man”
A proudly self-proclaimed shit-stirrer, it comes as no surprise that Stella Donnelly first introduced her debut album with a lead single that doubled as a biting single of a generation of men whose time is up. The aforementioned single “Old Man” is not the only moment on Beware of the Dogs that the Australian singer-songwriter leverages her knack for infusing cutting socio-political commentary into an infectious brand of jangly indie rock. From “Boys Will Be Boys” to the titular track “Beware of the Dogs,” Donnelly’s debut carries with it a salient message told through stirring song.
Maggie Rogers – Heard It In a Past Life
youtube
Favorite track: “Give a Little”
Maggie Rogers’ musical résumé holds two impressive distinctions. She is one of the few musicians to make Pharrell Williams visibly shed tears, and she released an album earlier this year that you absolutely need to be listening to. Heard It In A Past Life, the lauded debut album from Rogers, combined folk, dance, pop and R&B to unprecedented effect and established her as different sort of star. With a musical vision that stays wholly true to herself, while still finding the space to explore newfound territory, this is an album you need in your life.
Carly Rae Jepsen – Dedicated
youtube
Favorite track: “Too Much”
There are no two ways about it; Carly Rae Jepsen is a pop icon. More than just a one-hit wonder (with that being said, “Call Me Maybe” has most definitely stood the test of time), the long-awaited follow-up to Emotion arrived this year to widespread acclaim. Dedicated channels all the joy pop and disco has brought with them over the years to present a collection of songs that relishes in the emotional rush of being both lovesick and heartbroken. This is pop done right.
Flume – Hi This Is Flume (Mixtape)
youtube
Favorite track: “How To Build A Relationship” (feat. JPEGMAFIA)
After what felt like an eon of radio silence, electronic auteur Flume returned in brilliant and unconventional fashion. Returning not with an album but a mixtape, Hi This Is Flume saw the Australian producer and artist shying away from the pop-minded inclinations of Skin to deliver a wildly experimental electronic spectacle. Enlisting some of music’s most avant-garde figures, from slowthai, SOPHIE, to JPEGMAFIA, Hi This Is Flume is a glimpse into an artist who forever changed the landscape of electronic music.
Wallows – Nothing Happens
youtube
Favorite track: “Are You Bored Yet?” (feat. Clairo)
In many ways, Wallows’ debut album has been a decade in the making. Operating as a band since they were eleven, Braeden Lemasters, Dylan Minnette, and Cole Preston first whisked up a palpable fervor for their full-length project in 2017 with the release of their debut single “Pleaser.” Wallows channeled the excitement surrounding any hint of their highly-anticipated debut album into a collection of exhilarating, emotional-driven indie rock and anti pop perfection. Nothing Happens is a sonic embodiment of a shared childhood dream placed alongside the realities of growing up.
Steve Lacy – Apollo XXI
youtube
Favorite Track: “Like me” (feat. DAISY)
Steve Lacy, who you may know as the bassist, guitarist, and producer for The Internet, invokes the mystical air of a decades-long R&B, funk, and soul tradition in his debut album Apollo XXI. There is a novel yet nostalgic quality to the whole affair, as if you were to suddenly awake in the ‘70s with the sun peeking through your blinds on a warm summer day. The timeless nature of Lacy’s debut makes it feel like that this is not only one of 2019’s best album, but perhaps one of this generation’s best.
Nilüfer Yanya – Miss Universe
youtube
Favorite Track: “In Your Head”
Black Mirror and breathtaking indie rock build the crux for Nilüfer Yanya’s spellbinding debut album Miss Universe. The West London native’s portrait of reality blurs the lines between dystopic technological vision and haunting picture of reality itself through a collection of songs that nears the sacred, terrifying space of a fully-realized concept album. Whether you take it as a concept album or not, there is a resounding sense of urgency to be found in the exhilarating body of work Yanya has put together.
Ariana Grande – thank u, next
youtube
Favorite Track: “thank u, next”
From Arichella to surprise dropping quite possibly the breakup track that will define a generation, 2019 belonged to Ariana Grande. thank u, next illustrated Grande’s consistently jaw-dropping range, her gift for transforming sweet nothings to lovelorn anthems, and most of all, the promise of a lasting pop star. The veritable pop star certainly has come a long way from her humble beginnings as a child star.
