Funny thing about rereading this one more time to make notes that I now see deeper details, that I didn't notice in my rush of the first time. Like Eddie trying to distract girls. He isn't idiot, the guy is smart, his boisterous personality does cover it a lot… which in hindsight, if he times it right can be a great distraction … it already does in some manner

The moment near fire pit it gives difficult combination of emotions. From melancholy, exhaustion to weirdly enough comfort and coziness. Her giving him the bottle without a question and then sharing her turmoil with him. His asking if he can do anything. Heh, even Drakken's quip about staying there or following her. I guess cus it was said in such sense of normality.

Complexity of this all. Even that complicated anger and sadness from Drakken.

I think... This specific character is one of my personal favorites. Especially the absurdity Xd but I guess after one maddening night of fighting for their lives and almost getting caught … they all need chill time.

A map for the region my bathhouse storyline takes place in, basically like an imaginary prefecture of Japan.....although technically the land is not really supposed to present IRL Japan, its just that this story is mainly inspired by Japanese culture and mythology lol (my other two stories/oc sets have wider range of inspirations)

UPDATE: I realized I forgot one important place from this "story" which is that beachside town where Yume's birth family - or well, the staff - live. I also decided to add some different symbols for villages vs bigger towns vs special spots like the Witch Guild.

Coupla notes below/image texts if you struggle to read them:

Only the bathhouse isle has the name in Japanese, because the translator I use isn't working for me rn; I might change the names to Japanese once things start working again. OTL

The "Ghost town" obviously wasn't called the ghost town before, but ever since people vanished, locals are too superstitious to call it by its name anymore.

Yume (the witch living in the witch-guild with her fam) is originally from the beachside city. It is called Odayaka, which translates to "calm/gentle/quiet" which is in reference to how people often go there to relax and enjoy the beach and the bathhouses located on the hillside.

The "demon" from butterfly village wasn't really banished, but more "adopted" by Yume's family to try and help him ease his curse.

Kureshima bathhouse owners are, of course, Murasaki family members, namely the son and daughter of the current family heads + their cousin. (This family is sort of the protagonist group of the story, though the protagonist protagonist is probs the adopted kid Yago lol)

The woman imaged in the Demon Hunter info box is the mother of the Chiba family, Kaede Chiba.

"Tosen" does in fact, live on that isle, and his real name is Gouken Shura. He is a special type of magic spirit known as Vigour Spirit, who represent different aspects of life. In Shura's case, he's also known as the "Fighting spirit."

The bridge leading to the Kureshima isle is not always open for visitors, and is more used by the residents to get to and from the isle, as the water route is typically clogged by visitor boats. It does open for guests as well, if the season is exceptionally busy.

The Sunset isle/Kureshima has a village of its own, mainly populated by staff who live there permanently + some special guests seeking refuge.

Eight Isles is naturally the biggest city in the region by a long shot. Jade Town and Butterfly valley are second biggest.

There are more, smaller settlement villages dotted about, but the map only shows the most notable farming ones/ones big enough to qualify as towns.

People don't know this, but Hanma is in fact the same "eldest son" who was spared by the assailant during the Murasaki mansion Massacre. (he was the culprit, he mainly turned against his family for their bigotry and arrogance, and to save his baby sister and then not-yet-wife Rikka, who was his sister's close friend/supportive older sister figure/bodyguard)

Healing Water temple:

Led by a head priestess Erena Mizuka, it is a place for weary travellers to rest and for sick and injured to seek help for their ailments. Rumor has it she is not quite human, but a being fulfilling a long-made promise to protect the temple.

Kureshima bathhouse/Jade lake & Jade town:

Jade town with its entertainment districts is a popular traveller destination, a great place for visitors to go to anytime of the year. Those unfortunate who are in need of help may also find their way to the bathhouse in the middle of the lake. The isle and it’s owners are shrouded in mystery, and there are a lot of rumors surrounding them. As long as you aren’t a bad person and behave yourself though, your visit should be wonderful.

Region Capital/Murasaki mansion:

Eight Isles, the Capital and biggest city in the area, it is where the mysterious and influential Murasaki family has lived for generations. The family was mostly massacred by an unknown assailant decades ago, sparing only the eldest son and youngest daughter. The current family head, Hanma, is quite the recluse, and let’s his swordsman wife Rikka handle most of the public appearance work. Rikka is rumored to be a kitsune.

Riverbank Town:

The birthplace of moth-spirit Yaguro/Asahi. A small town known for its illegal activities from underground fighting rings to smuggled goods, wealthier visitors may secretly go there to get their hands on rarer artifacts.

Harvest Bay:

A rural farm village with the famous Chiba-family apple orchard. Home of the said family and their adoptive telepathic twins.

Butterfly valley/Lake:

A region known from their butterfly themed craftsmanship, as well as a legend of a terrifying demon haunting their grounds, attacking anyone who dares to venture out at night wearing their crafts. At least, up until an unknown witch rumoredly banished the demon with the help of the Murasaki family.

Ferryman's Isle:

A place the always engimatic local ferryman, Tosen is said to live in with his wife. It is all just a rumor, though.

Ghost village:

Once a buzzling town, the place was suddenly abandoned some years back. Nobody knows what happened, but there were rumors of a witchboy causing the disappearance of the locals.

Left: Moth-spirit Yoruga’s birth village. Very small, fairly superstitious place due to the proximity to the rumored Witch Guild.

Bottom: Rumored location of a now destroyed Chimera-village. Original home of the adoptive son of the Murasaki family, Yago, and his surviving family.

{You can't really tell because I forgot to color it, but there's a bow on her head. This is my very first time using these ink brush pens and I struggled hard to get the ink moving in the red and green pens, so when I went to use the black pen I assumed I'd have the same problem. I did not. It went everywhere.}

{But! She's done! TWEWY Aku in her Shibuya Street Party Halloween costume! It's actually a lot of wa lolita that she picked up a long time ago paired with some cat accessories! She made the ears and tail herself, but the rest of it is all about the coord. She's sure there are some hardcore lolitas out there cursing her name right now...}

{Some things that exist but I just didn't feel like I had the scale/ability to draw are: cat eye contacts. They make her pupils the slit shape, but she made sure the color matched her natural eyes. I cannot express how "murder doctor bird kills people" is just scratching the surface of what goes down in that game lol. I hope you enjoy it! :D The manga has Moa drawing the birds as birds but with more varied expressions; you might like to see that once you've played the game.

And I'm never sure who knows about Moa (I assumed most people who did were aware of her for Hatoful) but yeah I totally forgot she liked Enoch Drebber. Can't blame her he's got such a cool design, an amazing theme, and interesting story. I hope Black Holmes is going to be a thing; she's also working on the third Hatoful game called Mirror, but there haven't been many updates lately. She's been scriptwriting an entire VR game called Sushi Ben (of which she, of course, included a pigeon character) and I know that's been taking up a lot of her time. I don't think she's the type to drop a project with no warning though, and I do know she tends to overwork herself and get sick as a result (if I'm correct, I think she was very ill for a time) so I've just decided to wait. I'm sure the games will come out eventually. :)

Ahhhh once I ever get around to playing it (which... I unfortunately don't know when that will be OTL, BSD is my main hyperfixation right now and I tend to stick with my current ones for a long time so I can write the fics I want to :'), I hope I can tell you my thoughts...! I've seen some more spoilers in the art you've reblogged for HB, but I don't remember any of the names attached to them or have any context, so it's okay lol; I'm very intrigued to see how it all plays out in the game itself. And probably have my heart broken under crushing angst cause that seems to be the vibe as always lol. 🥲

Catnip Cookie is my dotter i love and care her; she’s a Parfaedia professor’s aide (forgot the name for that role lol) and really into growing plants for fun and potions. majored in Slightly Forbidden & Highly Regulated Substances as a student. can usually be found in any nearby green space studying the plants there. her thumbs are green and she’s really good at getting ‘difficult’ plants to grow and thrive.

ranged + middle + rare; she does that anime girl thing where she picks her skirts up for a curtsy and a whole bunch of assorted sharp gardening tools fall out, then she uses magic to pick them up and launch them at you lmfao

design-wise this is just her first pass, i will probably change her outfit at a later point! Parfaedia doesn’t seem to have an enforced dress code for any staff that’s not a student (correct me if i’m wrong lol) so rn she’s just Vibing. the flowers in her hair and on her hat are catnip flowers!!!!! i already know some of the things i want to change- her braids will be more obviously different lengths (hard to tell rn but her right braid is a LOT shorter than the left one), the hat brim will have an actual leaf shape to it, her outfit will be cleaned up, and i will try to draw more accurate flowers OTL

Did you see the new fatui trailer??? What do you think? Because when I saw Dottore😭

I just did after this Ask actually hahaha I'm usually not very diligent in keeping up with new content releases due to time and I honestly missed more videos etc from Genshin than I would like to admit, but considering how much noise was being made abt the latest trailer (and of course to respond to this), I motivated myself to watch it proper...

The trailer was really nice, I always enjoy Mihoyo's videos and the way they put pieces together without fully animating the scenes; gives it a very storytelling kind of vibe but also, I had so many random thoughts and comments about things in the trailer fshjdbfjh

1- the entire thing gave me Kingdom Hearts vibes, especially with the chessboard commentary/scenes. Very KH3. Also the Harbingers here has the same energy as the Nobody's from KH3, only less cloaked and less chaotic (for now)

2- The lady(?) laying on the coffin reminds me of that one dood from Twisted Wonderland. Forgot his name.

3- a worker of Gringott's at 1:00 XD;

4- Baizhu in glasses...is that you Aizen Sousuke?

5- HNGGG I THOUGHT NEW WHITE HAIRED HUSBANDO (I dont have a type I swear) BUT THEN SHE SPOKE. But I would let her step on me still.

6- Childe, that cloak and scarf combo does not complement your torso at all. He looked like a minecraft block at first. Im sorry but just spitting facts.

7- Okay so, I dont read the Genshin manga but I have seen images of Dottore from it before and I didn't think anything of him/his design didn't appeal to me. But I can get behind the Dottore in this trailer.

8- Old dood looks like an older Vergil from DMC.

9- I love the castle turning to ice but also, Elsa fskdhbf

10- Love that the coffin is where they are gathered though. It'd be funny if they used it as a coffin table ahahaha

11- The burning tree reminds me of the scene from Warcraft when the World Tree burned and now I can't stop crying cause that broke my heart years ago. I am ready to be hurt again.

All in all, I am excited for the story to progress further and see what the Fatui are up to! I also really just want to play Scaramouche and then there is that Kagamine Len look alike from one of the very first game trailers OTL I honestly thought he/the twins(?) would be in this trailer at first cause I legit thought they were part of the Fatui LOL idk why

OH! FRIEND! I totally forgot to tell you (and I’m posting it so I don’t have to bombard you with messages):

So I was figuring that Sora heard about the war/darkness/evil reign from all the townsfolk as he tried to learn about the world, and started sticking around for a while. I sort of mentally moved his convo with Sheik to guards and random folk when you decided not to have him as a muse because I figured the story came out eventually LOL. Or at least part of it. The only thing he doesn’t know obviously is how Zelda managed to hide for seven years or her direct involvement with Ganondorf getting access to the triforce. (Or EXACTLY how Link was involved because all he heard about were the exploits of when he was an adult.)

So, in short: he knows the townsfolk are rebuilding from a state of ruin, and that Zelda lost her family, and why she’s the reigning princess. Also that she’s, you know, “sealing” the demon king away and is apparently part goddess, but he’s too scared to ask to figure out what they mean HAHAHAHA.

I basically just did it so we wouldn’t have to waste time going over exposition or backstory, but then I realized…. Um… SORA’S home was lost to a state of ruin… and he lost HIS family so... obviously he’s going to empathize with her :’).

In this AU he was directly involved with the relief effort and rebuilding for a while, he actually has a good idea of what the damage probably looked like even though he didn’t see it directly (even if it’s just castle town). And also, because he and Kairi are best friends he knows the mayor personally, and even calls her by her last name, instead of just “Ms. Mayor.” He saw the stress and pain she was under as she tried to manage everything and help with the rebuilding efforts- ON TOP of her daughter being in a critical situation. So while he doesn’t know HOW everything works, he knows it’s very, very stressful.

So all that to say: Sora has a very personal understanding of what Zelda and the townsfolk went through, and while he was just crushing on her at first because she was pretty and really nice, he really started to feel for her and feel sorry for her, because he knew that pain personally.

So all in all, he’s EXTREMELY impressed that she’s running a whole kingdom, AND rebuilding from a horrible event that lasted seven years AT THE AGE OF 17-19 (seriously he's just like "how tf???"). The only thing he’s glad about is that it was a couple years ago and that they’re clearly making headway in the recovery efforts, so at least everything is in a much better state now.

… so I tell you all this to say that this may or may not have turned into a semi-parasocial relationship on his end. OTL IM SORRY IT WASN’T MY INTENTION.

He doesn’t realize it fully yet but he’s already started to feel very protective of her feelings- he knows she’s strong, but he knows everyone feels pain, so that’s why he was so mad about that merchant, moreso than the other princes. Because the dude was openly stating he didn’t actually care about Zelda so Sora is just like “ExCUSE she has gone through SO MUCH the LEAST you can do is be NICE to her! >:(((“ He’s already in this mindset of “she deserves to be happy after everything she’s gone through”, so… yeah he’ll snap if anyone is rude or cruel to her. Even if she CAN take care of herself XD.

...Granted this is also extremely personal for him since he, ya know… also lost his home and family laksjdkalsjdakldj like in a weird way he feels like he already "knows" her, and forgot she didnt tell him all this herself hahaha.

The last thing is I need to clarify the dance scene: it wasn’t that he was actually falling in love with her from the dance, those were just endorphins XD It’s a real phenomenon that can come from doing exciting activities with another person, or having close contact. For whatever reason dancing can sometimes trigger this, and since Sora was already crushing on her and gets ridiculously happy being near her, well, it was kind of a given it would happen lol. But Sora doesn’t know much about science or how the human body works, just the basics of his own, so he wouldn’t realize this. I tried my best to write out that it was just circumstances, but unless you actually know this phenomenon it can still be confusing. Hence why I figured I should tell you XD

ALL THIS TO SAY: I really hope you don’t feel like I’m trying to rush a ship or anything, or that I’m trying to make Sora come on too strong. I really did intend for it to be a slowburn romance, but then when I started remembering backstory and everything… yeah XD I figure Zelda is probably used to “strangers” clamoring for her attention and whatnot, and people feeling strongly about her even when she doesn’t know them personally, but if Sora ever says or does something that seems strange or out of place or too strong, she’s perfectly welcome to call him out or ask about it. Since I imagined their first two convos were actually fairly casual and didn't mention history, and Sora wouldn’t have told her about his past yet, so she wouldn’t know why he’s so emotional so “quickly”.

….though now that I think about it I guess it IS still weird from her point of view because he’s a foreigner so he wouldn’t feel personally invested in her and this country HAHAHAHA.

Anyway, yeah, now I hope we’re on the same page since I forgot to mention it before :’D

9: How would you describe your writing style?

Ahhh, this is pretty hard! I guess it's become more focused on dialogue lately. I've also been developing a weird habit where I just write without explaining anything XD. Maybe it's sort of like writing in media res, but it's also mostly just confusing because I keep deciding the plot as I go. I really hope to write some kind of mystery fic because I feel like it'd work well with my style. :)

11: Which character do you have the most in common with?

I guess if I was to pick someone from Ao no Exorcist, I'd probably resonate the most with Shiemi from the earlier chapters. ^^ I really like how she started out really sheltered but grew to find her own place and ambitions, so she's like my role model haha.

12: Which character do you have the least in common with?

Haha, maybe Amaimon? I thought about writing him for two seconds the other day, and I had no idea what to do XD. His motives are very mysterious to me.

18: What's easier, dialogue or description?

I think description is probably easier for me, although both are really fun to write! Still, I have a really hard time with dialogue in my fics because I'm picky about spacing out all the talking. Other than that, I also struggle so much with describing clothes in detail T^ T. I've been trying to remind myself to practice more with my newest WIP, but most of the time, my limit is one article of clothing for one character.

20: Post a brief excerpt.

Ahh, I couldn't decide where to cut it off, so it's kind of long. This is from the same WIP as above. It's currently 28k, and I still have a lot to write before it's finished OTL.

The cell door is warped. A deep dent runs along where the lock is. They should replace it soon, but he doubts anyone will. Dr. Eminescu left with Dr. Egyn for an international conference two days ago, and Gedouin has been overseeing their labs since.

Yukio clears his throat as he steps forward.

A smile spreads across the demon’s face, tired but unmistakably delighted. “Hey,” he whispers as his tail sweeps up behind him gradually from side to side. “You came back.”

He’s been dressed in the gown all of the other specimens wear, and his pale hair is matted with dried blood.

Rin. He said his name is Rin.

“I brought provisions,” Yukio says, because no one else was willing to. He clasps his hands behind his back, standing rigidly still even when Rin wraps his hands around the bars of the cell window. “One of my superiors requested to collect a sample of your blood. I suggest you cooperate.”

Rin’s lips press in a worried line, but he smiles the next moment. “Okay,” he agrees. “I’d never hurt you. You know that, right?”

Yukio doesn’t let himself sneer. “You injured five of our guards. One might never wake again.”

Rin’s grip on the bars slackens, and for a moment, something almost pained flickers across his eyes.

“Sorry—”

“I didn’t ask you to apologize.” Yukio tastes metal in the back of his throat when he swallows. “What’s clear is you can cause harm even if you don’t intend to.”

“I’m sorry,” Rin repeats, and this time the pain in his eyes is unmistakable.

It hurts like bewitchment, in a way Yukio doesn’t understand. No other demon has affected him in this way before.

He breathes in and back out. Twice.

“Step away from the window,” he orders.

Ayakashi Koi Meguri/Ayakashi Romance Reborn production behind the scenes (part 8 & 9)

Part 8

Artist’s commentary on the “Ten Night of Dreams” event to match the writer’s remarks in the previous one. The character art includes items that are relevant to the stories they’re based on.

Aki’s key item is the dagger, Toto’s is the goldfish, and Aoi’s is the hat (a “Panama hat”)

Koga’s card has white lilies. It’s inspired by the “first night” story of the Natsume Souseki collection mentioned in the previous one. In the story, the narrator was asked by a dying woman to wait for her by her grave. 100 years pass, and a white lily grew on her grave.

The kanji for lily is 百合, which is shortened from a Chinese phrase meaning “100 years of harmony” (lilies are native to China). 合 in Japanese sounds similar to 会, which means "to meet". So the artist drew this with the image of “waiting to reunite for 100 years”.

(I have not read the card stories so I cannot confirm what the stories are like)

Part 9: Koga and Kuya behind the scenes.

Koga

The Ayakoi staff’s goal is to create characters who are cool, but also “human” (relatable) , with realistic weaknesses and struggles. Koga’s design was a reliable leader who is fearless, but also considers himself not worthy to be a “hero”. This characterization makes him someone who embodies the “theme” of the game very vividly. Perhaps it was why they chose him to be the “poster boy” of the game?

The writer feels a bit complicated with how they didn’t write Koga declare his love more than once. Still, they felt it was more in-character for him to be that way.

They said they got player feedback saying there’s not enough uwu in the route, but according to them it’s because they want to convey love in different ways than just direct “I love you”s or kisses. The “route” is actually more of a “budding romance”, so the uwu stuff will be more in the events or cards.

In one of the events there is a scene where Koga and MC looks at the sunrise. This midway between light and darkness was something that ties to Koga’s character. He looks forward to the hope like a dawn after the darkest night, full of positivity, but also knowing the inevitable darkness. It’s a particularly poignant scene.

(event was released in Eng around January 2021, forgot the Eng name of the event OTL) The writer commented that the text design had Koga’s horns and a feather, and that was a neat detail.

Teaser: Koga’s father will be important to the plot somewhere in the future (!!!!)

Kuya

When they were making Kuya the prompts they use was “Trouble child from the mountains” and “really lazy”.

The image they had was this type of character from shonen manga (why always shonen LOL) that is super lazy, doesn’t look strong, but actually can do a lot of things and is super strong ONCE he stops being lazy. The dynamic with MC is like a “nosey class rep and a lazy troublemaker”

Ayakoi’s cast have a number of people with mature, big brotherly characteristics, but Kuya has a more “smart younger brother” vibes. He’s a bit careless, but not obnoxiously so, and that’s what makes him cute.

He shines in the first Ayakoi event, the autumn one, where he encouraged the girl who’s looking for a script. He is a kind person after all. In the Dawn routes, Aoi and Kuya also butt heads over differing approach, but they can still understand where the other is coming from because they can understand the good heart behind it.

Kuya really likes ice cream and Ouji’s omelette rice. Writer is like “hehe did I overdo it with the food?”

(I really hope this gets translated someday BTW... these Behind the Scenes are almost like personal blog posts by the writer and artist, so it’s really better to see a direct translation of how excited and adorable the staff are being)

hi ok i literally JUST saw ur reply bc i forgot tumblr is. weird ab how sideblog replies work BUT do you have any thoughts on specific Ayleid magic that may've gotten lost to time? I know there's a lorebook mentioning that the wells/varla stones/welkynd stones are kinda all that's left and there's an implication that they were privy to other stuff that didn't end up preserved.

Also do you have any hcs ab their interactions with/relationship to Meridia? I mean there's. Kinda already a good deal of canon stuff ab that but theology/religious society hcs slap All The Time

gosh ok so like... the ayleids had this entire deal of preserving the dawn magics- or in perpetuating their use, in contrast to the aldmer who thought to lock these things away before they became something lesser in mundus. there's SOMETHING about cyrodiil imo that made this especially easy for them, and in addition to that their language ayleidoon is derived more closely from ehlnofex (the language of the first mortals or possibly the et'ada) than aldmeris or the other elven languages

@ankhitsu has made me a believer in "ayleids had airships they used to collect starlight" which is based on lore from shadowkey- pre ayleid and the words are never used but yknow. game theory. stars are super important bc that's magic directly from aetherius and something about cyrodiil must have made it the best place to construct these things and collect them as much as that "cyrodiil is the center of the universe" thing is propaganda and kinda :/ from a meta standpoint it IS interesting to think that there's some kind of confluence of dawn era magical construction that just meets in the middle there... like the wiring or tubing so to speak. this environment helped the ayleids preserve and/or rediscover dawn era stuff, which could work potentially reality shifting magics via the use of ehlnofex. recently learning some project tamriel ayleid lore that lays an importance on words and names for people and places and the ability to manipulate them by knowing them and i like that... words and language are so important

as for meridia she DEFINITELY seems like one of the most popular daedra to the ayleids. i think mostly ESO lore cemented it with the addition of like, 3 notable city-states devoted to meridia, but umaril the unfeathered being champion of both her and the ayleids against the alessian revolt implies that they lay a lot of importance on her. maybe due to her connection with the magna-ge, and therefore the purest forms of magic? there's meridia Deep Lore that connects her vaguely with lorkhan, admiring his work and choosing to remain with it instead of fleeing with the rest of her siblings of the magna-ge, and interestingly sews the seeds of her rivalry with molag bal via her working to create mehrunes dagon as a successor to lorkhan and destroyer/liberator of lyg, bal's own little world of creation it's mostly just one guy but molag bal seems like the second most mentioned daedra irt ayleids, and it makes me think the interplay between bal and meridia and their rivalry colored ayleid society in a lot of ways... ofc i feel like throughout the diverse city-states you could find all assortments of daedra and aedra, even brushing shoulders in pantheons and traditions, but meridia and her champions being the last restort daedras certainly imply some interesting things

I like this one because it’s a nice multilayered metaphor for Steven’s conflict in that scene and Future in general (I’m a sucker for metaphors lol) that came out really nice and feels like it puts across the exact sort of feeling I was trying to convey.

15: Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)?

Usually titles, cause I’m kinda picky about my titles. Sometimes they come easier, but in general they’re the hardest. Summaries I don’t have too much trouble with since I usually go for something that I think would entice me to look into a fic with the premise I’m using. I also might use a relevant snippet of my writing so people know what it looks like and to give a small glimpse of what’s going on and what the tone is. The only trouble I have with tags is trying to keep the number of them reasonable while still being informative so they aren’t overshadowing the summary.

22: Do you reread your old works? How do you feel about them?

All the time lol, though there are some I might not read as much because I don’t feel they aged as well as I’d like and I am only human. I’m obviously more partial to my newer work, but I’m still quite fond of some of my older stuff, and I feel like plenty are still good and/or at least fun to read, even when they’re dated, or have lots of mistakes. I remember a very short story I wrote based on a prompt in a Gaia Online writing contest forum from 16 years ago that I still occasionally look back on fondly for no other reason than because I find it cute and funny. And it won me the contest so bonus! The prompt was just something simple based on a character named Chairman, who was “a member of the elite Chairforce, which fought the evils of the world from the chairs all over the world”. Here’s the snippet for anyone who’s curious :

"Oh no!" cried Chairman "the world is being over run by evil monkeys!"

"Nonscense" chided his wife "why would evil monkeys want to rule the world?" she continued her knitting, oblivious to the howler monkey tapping on their window.

"Haven't you ever seen "planet of the apes?"" Chairman asked her angrily.

"Yes of course dear, but those were apes, not monkeys"

"I see no difference!!"

"Of course not dear"

Chairman wheeled himself over to the closet and pulled out a 50 caliber assault riffle. He loaded it and headed towards the door.

It was time to shoot some monkeys.

I didn’t mention anything about the Chairforce, and I never actually clarified that Chairman is supposed to be in a wheelchair, but I give myself bonus points for at least hinting at it, since it was a creative and inclusive take on the chair theme (for a 2006 Gaia online writing contest at least lol). I also still really like the goofy tone of it. Somehow the mistakes, like misspelling rifle as “riffle”, only add to its charm for me lmao.

I used to be really embarrassed by my old writing, and sometimes I still can be, but the older my old stuff gets the more I appreciate it for what it is, cause sometimes I surprise myself with how much better I did than I remember, even if it’s not as good as I am now. And I like seeing how my work changes and evolves over time, it’s a nice showcase of how I’ve improved over the years. Something that stuck with me was when I deleted a fic once, because it was old and I thought it was cringy, plus it hadn’t gotten much attention anyway. But not long after I deleted it someone actually messaged me asking where it went. It was just a random oneshot, but someone still liked it enough to notice that it was gone, and they even brought it up to me directly and told me that they’d enjoyed it and wanted to read it again. Because of that I’d planned on editing it a bit and then posting it again instead of removing it permanently, but tragically I ended up losing the original document before I could. Now it’s gone forever, and I really regret deleting it in the first place because I’d still rather have the original version than nothing, for that one person who wanted to re-read it if nothing else. I’ve never deleted any of my old works completely off the internet since then, just kept the oldest ones mainly on FFN cause I like having the older stuff just on the older account where they originated, like a digital museum (though I have backups and if needed will probably archive them on a separate AO3 account/pseudonym if FFN ever goes under).

Ahhhhhhh!!!! My first ask!!! 😵😂

Oh dear, somehow I have not prepared for this moment. 🙈 I'm not the most active reader anymore, and there are so many recs I've still yet to read, so some of my faves aren't going to be very current. Plus, I'm just bad at ranking faves! I also don't even really re-read, it's more like, whatever still stuck with me is a fave, haha.

Let me see...

1.) One of the first NaruHina fics I ever read may have been deleted and I forgot the title of it. :( But Naruto had been sent to the Land of Iron for an extended mission. He fell for the Inn Girl (an OC), returned to Konoha and began a romance with Hinata. There was a huge mystery going on with his black outs, I think he went in a coma after their marriage ceremony... I forget what happened after that, but at one point he was on another mission, blacked out and woke up to the dead bodies of enemy shinobi. The reveal was that the Inn Girl was murdered because the enemy was trying to get to him. Naruto repressed his trauma, particularly how he slaughtered the nin in revenge, and his guilt was quietly eating him up from inside. He gets all his memories back and last thing I remember, pregnant Hinata is doing the laundry when Naruto finds the photo of the Inn Girl included in their family album or maybe it was a picture frame, and Hinata in all her eternal kindness understood that girl had been his first love and yadda yadda yadda. Wish I remembered the title and author's name. 😅 This was a 2006 fic.

2.) Beyond The Mirror's Edge by Imaginarivalued (2012-2013). Road To Ninja hadn't come out yet and all we had to go on was the poster showing the personality flips and it was a glorious time to imagine What-Ifs.💖 This fic hit all my sweet spots when it comes to AUs, I mean, I just always dug the whole 'If there was no pain and everything was peaceful, what would their lives be like?'. It was my impression that RTN was going to be friendship-centric while poising interesting questions. I still need to see RTN, but I've spoiled myself on its contents and I guess there's a lot of quality family fluff but not much else?

3.) The Way Of The Geisha by Chancewriter (2011). I feel like this was the last fic I read before my fandom hiatus, and it's just really, really good. It also is responsible for my acquired liking of SasuHina. My only complaint was that the one smut chapter was kind of 'not enough'. I personally would've wanted a hint of Naruto's restraint during that scene, instead it came off less romantic and more like doing a favor? I hope that's not just me, eheh.

4.) Komorebi by Dizzydodo. One of the new ones to capture my attention! It's a Feudal/Soulmates AU where Hinata is to be married off to the Aburame clan, but instead gets spirited away by a fox spirit (Naruto), and it heavily focuses on the Red String of Fate. Beautiful, detailed prose, interesting world building, and eventual smut! I guess eventual, cuz the first time was sorta brief?

5.) Okay, I really can't choose among the new fics I've read this past year. 👉👈 "(common side effects)", "Medicated" are the last fics I've ever binged in years, with CSE I just kept wanting to know more, and the angst was beautiful✨ and the way Medicated deepens Hinata's side makes it essential reading. Both are so impressive. "Catskin" is the only fic of @dayseternal-blog's that I binged so far, next to "Last Chance", and it's so pretty. Last Chance is her Time Loop AU, and I dig it so much. I get "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" feels. Tbh, I'm intimidated by DAYS8's writing quality, so I've been shying away from reading the rest of her stuff. 👉👈 Same with Utsus and Matchaball. And vegebulsoup and yeah, it's kinda snowballing. OTL I think my fave list might look like a lot of other's if I got around to reading the same popular stuff. XD Lastly, @sunshinefamily has really good fics that I love, too! Sorry for crowding the final spot like this! 😂

Recorded Moons Ranking

Before we get the Kaguya-hime no Koibito musical later this year, I’m going to be doing 2 Moon rankings! One of our recorded Moons, and one of the ones that haven’t been officially recorded (so it’ll all be down to fan-taken clips for that OTL) With that being said, here’s my ranking of the recorded Moon Actresses! DISCLAIMER this is all my personal opinion and I love ALL the Moon actresses! Photos from official sources or Sera Myu Antics!

9. Mizuki Yamashita

I’ve grown to like Mizuki more now that the NogiMyu fandom wars have died down. That being said, she’s still my least-favorite. She doesn’t feel as in-character as I’d like. However, I will say I’ve found nuances in her performance that I do appreciate! And she definitely is an adorable Usagi!

8. Marina Kuroki

Same with Marina. While she’s still low for me, I love her very much! There were parts of her performance (namely her over-acting) that grinded my gears, but she’s a stellar performer! From her amazing singing voice to her stable dancing, she’s still amazing!

7. ANZA

I know some of y’all are looking at me like “ANZA?? THIS LOW??” And let me preface this by saying I ADORE ANZA. She did an AMAZING job. She’s an AMAZING singer and she’s absolutely iconic as Sailor Moon! That being said, she’s also... Not really who I see when I think of Sailor Moon? Like she’s iconic for sure, and a super talented performer. But like... IDK, like you can definitely tell she over-acted a lot. But it was the 90′s, it was the style at the time. I still love her!

6. Hotaru Nomoto

Hotaruuuuu. I have a really soft spot for Hotaru. Ever since I saw Le Mouvement Final in cinema, I’ve really loved Hotaru. My biggest flaw with her is how she sounded amazing in Amour Eternal and then just kinda... slowly forgot more and more how to sing by Le Mouvement Final? Sure, she had more emotion in her voice which is good. But like... I’ve talked about this here before. It just bugs me. xD But she’s SO cute and fun, I love her happy Usagi and she holds a special place in my heart. <3

5. Fumina Hara

I remember when I first got into Myu, Fumina was SOOO hated online. For no reason, mind you. When it turns out she’s actually an incredible Moon! Sure, she’s not your typical over-excitable Usagi, but there’s something about her performance that just genuinely warms my heart. I love her voice. It’s unique, soft, and elegant. Her portrayal of Usagi was unique and not trying to be like the others. That’s why I love her so much. She just stands out in a good way. <3

4. Shiori Kubo

Now, I know I talk about over-acting as a negative trait. But for Shiori, in my personal opinion, it really worked for her! She was SUCH an adorable Usagi. I mean, I didn’t know she’d be that precious. She really gave me anime Usagi vibes and I love that! I also love her deeper voice. Most people didn’t like it and thought it was too deep for the character, but that made her stand out to me and I loved it about her! I’ve noticed with Shiori it’s definitely you either love her or hate her. I adore her and I hope if NogiMyu ever comes back they bring her back as Moon! I think she’d do great on another run!

3. Sayuri Inoue

Y’all already know how much I adore Sayuri. From the morning I saw NogiMyu for the first time, I truly loved her. The way she portrayed Usagi was everything to me. From her funny quips, the serious moments, and everything in between! ALSO HER CHEMISTRY WITH MIKAKO A+ TIER THANK YOU KINDLY. Can we also talk about her lovely singing voice? I love gushing about Sayuri, she’s just such a fun actress. Now that she’s no longer with Nogi, I’m sure we could cast her in a mainline Myu? Please? xD

2. Satomi Okubo

QUEEN SATOMI I LOVE HER SO MUCH OMG. Literally just a ball of fun, Satomi never ceased to make me laugh from all 3 of her musicals. Satomi brought out the spirit of Usagi in a way not many have been able to. She truly brought out Usagi’s crackhead-ness and it’s so beautiful to see. Plus the strong warrior that Sailor Moon is! I think she would be perfect for PGSM (which is why she’s on the PGSM bootleg DVD’s these days LOL). Her only flaw is that her singing voice definitely left a lot to be desired. HOWEVER, in Le Mouvement Final as Sailor Cosmos? SHE REALLY LEVELED UP AND TOLD EVERYONE SHUT UP SATOMI OKUBO IS HERE TO SLAY. And that she did, I am a proud fanboy. <3

1. Miyuki Kanbe

Are any of y’all surprised? You shouldn’t be, we are talking about the LITERAL EMBODIMENT OF SAILOR MOON AS A WHOLE. She played her role... Well no, she was Usagi. Full stop. Like truly she was Usagi. I cannot say it enough. Crackhead Usagi, CRACKHEAD SAILOR MOON. She literally tried to kill Dracula with milk, it was fantastic. She was so funny and had so much energy, she lit up the stage every time she was on! I also love her high, nasally voice. I know it grinds some people’s gears, but she made it hers and it WORKED. There will never be another Miyuki Kanbe, and for good reason. May she rest in peace. We miss you, love. <3 Thank you all for reading, I will now be working on my un-recorded Moon ranking! x3
