Been having Thoughts about August again.
So, you know how, in the Pilot episode, Emma comes to Storybrooke and, once she makes the decision to stay in Storybrooke for Henry, the clock tower starts working again and time becomes unfrozen ect?
Well, I'm just thinking about August and his reunion with Geppetto in The Stranger. And the parallel between that and between Emma causing the clock to work again.
Because, the clock that Geppetto and Pinocchio were working on in Fairy Tale Land is now broken in Storybrooke and sitting in Rumple's pawn shop. And, it's not until August makes the conscious decision to try and make amends with his father that he's able to help Marco to fix the clock and get it working again.
And, of course, it's a metaphor for the pair of them making amends and fixing their estranged relationship and for August trying to do the right thing for once in his life ect.
But also? I feel like it represents some of the same things that Emma(/Henry) 'fixing' the clocktower does, just on a smaller scale. Because, even though Marco still doesn't have his memories back and doesn't know that August is his son...He's still able to act as a mentor type figure, and August might not be filling the role of 'son', but he IS filling in a gap that Marco has been feeling throughout the 28 years of the curse in some small way. And the fixing of the clock has set things in motion for the pair and their future (even if August doesn't think he has much of a future left).
It's about change!!! It's about setting things in motion! it's about repairing the damage that has been done by both Regina and by Marco and August themselves!

Can you give us family headcanons for the Pokemon villains?
Sure! Hopefully I won’t get anything too wrong here.
Giovanni: the mob has always defined Giovanni’s family life, from the time he was young to present. His father was killed when he was a preteen, defeated by an enemy Team boss who was stronger than him. This fueled Giovanni’s desire to be as strong and dominant as he could be in every way he could be, and to make Team Rocket into the most powerful evil team in the world. This desire was only strengthened after Silver was born. He had another child, too, a year younger than Silver, but she ran away at the same time Silver did. Unlike Silver, she never came back and couldn’t be found. This haunts Giovanni to this day and his greatest fear is losing Silver permanently.
Silver: Giovanni always emphasized the importance of strength to Silver growing up. While Giovanni never forced Team Rocket on him, Silver looked up to him and wanted to follow in his footsteps, and that made Giovanni very happy. That all changed after Giovanni’s disappearance, of course. After his Pokémon journey, Silver understands the bonds between Pokémon and people and doesn’t want to break those bonds by stealing Pokémon, so he no longer wants to join Team Rocket, let alone lead it. Giovanni knows and accepts this. While Silver’s relationship with him is a little awkward now that he’s grown a conscience, they’ll stay in close contact for the rest of Giovanni’s days. Silver knows that anything else would cause his father a lot of anxiety.
Archie: he and Maxie had a long-term relationship back when they were in Team Rocket together. Since, Archie has had numerous of flings with various members of Team Aqua. He’s found it enjoyable but it doesn’t quite fill the void. Team Aqua is like a family to Archie.
Maxie: after Archie, Maxie had a few longer-term relationships during periods when his work was lighter. Nothing ever quite filled the void Archie left, though. Maxie prefers not to mix family and business. Most people in his personal life are sympathetic to Team Magma’s cause but aren’t a part of the team.
Cyrus: Cyrus cut ties with his family basically the second he left home. He also changed his name, which is why neither his grandfather nor the people of Sunyshore use his name while talking about him, and why he’s on their mind- they’re praying that the omnicidal monster they’ve seen on the news isn’t who they think it is. The commanders (except for Charon) are basically eachothers’ family, and though Cyrus wouldn’t call them family or even friends, they could be his family, too, if he opened himself up to the possibility.
N: in N’s earliest years, Pokémon of various species that wouldn’t normally even interact came together to make sure he was cared for. A darmanitan kept him warm and safe, a zoroark and woobat kept him fed, and the zoroark’s pups were his playmates. After N was captured by Ghetsis, he was surrounded by abused Pokémon, most of which were too scared of humans to give him much parenting. They nonetheless formed a strong bond with N as he grew and learned to care for them, and N would consider them family. His only human contacts were his sisters, Ghetsis, and, over the years, a few tutors who helped him with various subjects. Ghetsis was kind to N to manipulate him, and had more contact with him than anyone else, so N was attached to him before the events of the game.
Ghetsis: he was raised to be a great religious leader. While this was a somewhat unconventional upbringing, he wasn’t abused in the slightest and didn’t find this particularly unpleasant. All the corrupt elements of the religious institution that most would pass off as “it has problems to be fixed, but nothing’s perfect” fascinated Ghetsis. They were The Point to him. Targeting members of a certain religion wasn’t enough for Ghetsis, however: he wanted to be able to manipulate anyone. This is why he broke away from religion and founded Team Plasma, which uses a rhetoric that appeals to basic empathy instead.
Lysandre: his whole family and a good portion of his social circle are, with a few exceptions, such elitist, classist jerks that it’s surprising that Lysandre was a man of the people for any length of time. And of course, they were all too eager to comfort him when his philanthropic efforts weren’t going so well, letting him know that it wasn’t his fault that the lower classes didn’t know how to use his gifts.
Guzma: Guzma would consider Team Skull to be his family. After Team Skull disbanded, Guzma was forced to return to his parents briefly because he had nowhere else to go. After a while, though, Hala took him in and made him his mentee so that he wouldn’t have to live with his abuser. Many former members of Team Skull also remained close friends after the team disbanded. This includes Guzma and Plumeria.
Lusamine: Gladion took the brunt of her abuse before he ran away, both because he was the rebellious one and because he tried to keep her attention off of Lillie. Things got much worse for Lillie once he left. After Lusamine was cured of the nihilego poison, she went on to be a decent mother and her children will keep a relationship with her into their adulthood.
Rose: Rose has long wanted a family, but can’t quite hold onto a partner. The combination of Rose’s fame meaning that no one who dates him keeps their privacy, Rose’s very high expectations, and the fact that he’s pretty unlikeable once you get to know him keeps anyone from sticking around despite his wealth, handsomeness and superficial charm. It doesn’t help that he tends to treat people as tools for his image, either. If he hadn’t gone to prison, he’d probably adopt another child after Bede and try to mold them into a champion trainer.
Piers: Piers’ parents have been largely absent ever since Piers became a gym leader. By their logic, since he’d be in town all the time and was in his mid-teens by then, he was old enough to look after his little sister and so they could go off and do whatever they wanted. So Piers has had Marnie’s wellbeing as well as Spikemuth’s on his shoulders from a young age. Between that and the work he puts into his music, he doesn’t even have the energy for resentment. He absolutely adores Marnie, though.

for @bughead-bones and @stonerbughead who asked about my s5 murder mystery au: i plotted like 90% of this story out a year or two ago. who knows if i'll ever actually write it all, but if i do, it's going to switch POVs between betty, jughead & veronica. i've never written veronica's pov before, so that's been a little challenging. here's a snippet from jug's pov!
“Jess, have you seen my tie?”
“Nope.”
Jughead emerges from the bathroom to find her sprawled out across the motel room bed, tapping away at her phone. He presses two fingers to his temple, willing away the headache just barely beginning to throb. “Okay, well could you help me look for it? We’re going to be late.”
“I don’t think you have to wear a tie at a funeral.” Jessica slinks off of the bed anyway, leaning halfway over the chipped tv stand to peer behind it. He resists the urge to redirect her towards a more plausible spot, like the pile of clothes she’s left pooled by the foot of the bed.
“I want to,” he replies tightly. He lifts her leather jacket off the seat of the desk chair — bingo. “Help me tie this?”
She complies, kissing his cheek as she loops the tie around his neck. “You seem really antsy about this.” She tightens the knot at the base of his throat and then tugs on the end a little, teasing, as she steps back.
“I’m about to give a eulogy for my best childhood friend.”
“Yeah, your best friend who stole your girlfriend.” Jessica raises one eyebrow before laying back on the bed again, toying idly with the end of her long, black braid.
Sometimes he wishes he’d never told her about that. If Betty’s at the funeral today, and Jessica figures out who she is, god only knows what she’ll say.
God only knows what he’ll say. It’s been a little over a year since they — he? she? does it matter? — ended whatever you’d call the semi-regular communication they’d carried on with ever since the breakup. For six years they’d texted back and forth: book recommendations, professional accomplishments, the occasional meme that made them think of one another.
None of it came close to scratching the surface of their former relationship. But he misses it. He still finds himself reaching for his phone when he reads an article or a line in a novel that he thinks she’d like. Every time, he forces himself to set it aside. Her silence spoke for her, loud and clear: she doesn’t want to hear from him.
Jughead turns back towards the bathroom mirror, pretending to fiddle with his hair. “That was seven years ago.”
And I’m over it. And I’ve forgiven him. All the words Jughead knows he should say — the words that he thinks, most days, are true — congeal like putty in his mouth, unable to emerge fully formed.
“And now he’s dead,” he adds, unnecessarily.
It still feels unreal, conceptually speaking: Archie is dead. Sure, he may have had some brushes with death — Jughead’s had more than a few of his own — but Archie Andrews wasn’t the kind of person who would just die. He half expects that when he walks into the church this afternoon, Archie will be standing right there, gathered with all their old friends and acquaintances, laughing at what a gullible sucker Jughead’s become in his not-yet-old age.
But the article is still there loaded on his phone, same as it was one week ago when JB had texted him the link: LOCAL ACTIVIST FOUND DEAD. Friends of Archie Andrews, 25, say they have questions.
The piece went on to quote names Jughead used to encounter on a daily basis: Local businesswoman Toni Topaz. Riverdale Sheriff Tom Keller. Town coroner Dr. Curdle Jr. It read almost like something he himself had penned as a macabre writing exercise, filling in the blanks of a murder mystery plot with the people who had once formed the landscape of his own life.

#i do wonder what quinn's team childhood ranking looks like #'cuz like none of them had great childhoods #i guess nate had a dad who loved his son a lot even if he couldn't quite understand him #(and as jimmy ford said that's the more important part)#and sophie's obviously a mystery [via @trivalentlinks, from HERE]
the unofficial quinn Leverage Team Childhood ranking:
1 - ms devereaux (based on extremely mysterious and vague but seemingly honest comments during their chats over tea. had a normal real school experience, allegedly left her life/family on her own terms to Become Something Bigger, 9/10. subject to change if she answers a single question directly)
2 - nate (nate might be conflicted about his Crime Dad but this is Not About Him. quinn thinks it's cool. don't be such a square. a cool crime parent who raised you and actively tried to teach you crime? five stars 10/10. every cool crime dude in boston knows he's jimmy ford's kid, which is also cool. #community. lower than sophie due to confirmed death of a parent and tragic lack of cool siblings/cousins/etc.)
3 - eliot and quinn swap places based on whether or not quinn is willing to admit today, at 2pm, during this specific conversation, that having a parent go "actually i never want to see you again" is A Bad Childhood Experience. (in my own personal eliot headcanon, he has at least one sister and his mom died when he was in high school, so +1 for siblings -2 for parental death)
4 - quinn if he admits to a single trauma. eliot if otherwise
5 - his friend alec (you open the quinn mind dossier. you see the words "foster care" outlined 8 times in red. you close the quinn mind dossier) (quinn only had to switch houses ONCE when people didn't want him around anymore. # of household changes is = to # of traumas, obviously, because quinn's 1 household change gave him 1 alleged trauma. hardison had more House Kids around, but he WASN'T the baby, so he had to like. help take care of them. less cool. also they couldn't have pets bc of? cost? allergies? devastating.)
6 - parker (you open the quinn mind dossier—) (parker was taught some vital crime skills Eventually, but then archie DIDN'T absorb her gracefully and effortlessly into his existing family which is fucking unforgivable actually. no one taught her crimes well enough because she got Caught at crimes, and also she was ALONE which is terrifying. additional -2 for witnessing a non-hitter sibling death)

Lily of Sincerity - Digimon AU
One of Myotismon’s Digimon was terrorizing the city.
Belle and Archie dashed around town on Greymon, Archie’s Digimon. Patamon, Belle’s Digimon got hurt from a fight with a Bakemon. Belle held her Digimon in her arms.
If only they could find the other guys so they could come up with a plan and fight together. Jay always had the best ideas. They all put their faith in the right person to lead them.
Neil was on the other side of the bridge on the top of his apartment building.
How Belle and Archie knew that Neil was around was easy.
“Help…!”
If only Neil could finally grow up for once in his life.
DarkTyrannomon was causing major destruction to the buildings.
“It’s gonna be okay, Neil…!” His Digimon, Palmon reassured him. “I’m here.”
“Neil…!” Archie and Belle waved.
“Bout time you got here, I can’t fight this… thing all on my own!” His hands were on his face.
As the black dinosaur Digimon raised an arm to attack, the three teenagers winced.
“Neil…!”
A bright glow came from Neil’s Digivice and Palmon, and the plantlike Digimon started to grow.
“Palmon, digivolve to…. Togemon!”
Palmon changed into a cactus like Digimon and began to fight the enemy Digimon.
“Archie, you and Belle stay here.” Greymon placed the two teenagers onto the sidewalk. “Be safe.”
Archie nodded to his Digimon, may Greymon be careful. They both went to the building up on the roof for safety. Belle looked down to Patamon. She wanted to do more to help Archie and Neil, but Patamon didn’t look well enough to fight.
Her Digimon began to fly out of her arms. “I must help my friends…!”
“No, Patamon…!” Belle’s eyes widen. “You’re still injured from when you fought the Bakemon.”
“But Togemon and Greymon need my help…!”
All of a sudden, DarkTyrannomon bolted from his fight from the other two Digimon and ran to the building where Archie and Belle were.
Neil’s eyes widen, his arm reached out. “Guys…!”
DarkTyrannomon made an attack with his arm against the roof. Archie tried to hold on to Belle, who almost fell off the debris.
“Belle, hold on…!” He winced.
She couldn’t let go of Patamon to give Archie her other hand. Patamon was still too weak to Digivolve into Pegasusmon to fly.
She was going to fall.
“No, Belle…!” cried Neil.
She was starting to loose grip. “Archie…!” As she started to fall.
“Belle…!” Tears were in Neil’s face.
Everyone around him told him he was selfish and stuck up, but being with the team and a Digidestined showed him there was so much more to life. He didn’t mean to hurt everyone around him.
He was a Digidestined, and proud of it!
“BELLE!”
The crest on his chest began to glow. A tear drop like symbol, the Crest of Sincerity formed, and so did Togemon.
“Togemon, digivolve to…! Lilymon!”
A flower like fairy Digimon appeared in front of them and grabbed Belle and Patamon from their fall.
“Wow, Lilymon…” He thought Palmon could use a little work, Togemon was prickly, but his Digimon in her Ultimate form was fantastic. “You’re beautiful!”
“Thanks, Neil, you are, too!”

Not an ask: I am enjoying your Jules headcanons
i'm glad!! if you have anything you're curious about my perspective on feel free to ask!! he's a very good dad and i love him very much. here's some more! it got a little long lol
it's canon that jules was the first roboticized person, but in archie it was chuck who did it as an attempt to help. in my thing there's no involvement from chuck, so it's all eggman. jules got shot in a vital area while running from the invading swat bots trying to steal their children and got captured. he would've died if he weren't roboticized, so they can't really change him back, plus he's had too many repairs and part replacements over the years for it to leave him in a functional state
while foreign metal in the (de)roboticizer won't make it explode, it won't be turned back into organic material since it didn't have an organic counterpart to begin with. maybe it could guess with smaller bits like bolts or wiring, but it would probably be a bad idea to do that to someone who's likely had a good amount of his robo-guts replaced. the machine can only do so much
before he was a robot, jules (and his family by extension) were generally unremarkable. yeah he was athletic and surprisingly strong, but he didn't have powers. all the magic stuff his kids have came from aleena! her family is very involved with magic and it sort of became part of her, passing on to her children. sonic got his speed, sonia's got enhanced strength, and manic...
well... manic takes after his father
he really is the runt of the litter, but that's okay! he's got his own skills, and with his hoverboard they would make a perfectly balanced sonic heroes team
jules' full first name is julius. it stems from julianus, having latin roots meaning "father" and "young at heart", so i think it's pretty appropriate for him!
jules really has a lot of fatherly qualities, and he wants to do the best he can for his children, or any kids for that matter. he doesn't really know what he's doing, but at the very least he tries to not only be supportive but actively enthusiastic about everything his kids do, and he will readily adopt whatever friends they bring over into his little family unit. it doesn't matter how old they are, they're getting adopted. he treats shadow and scourge like part of the family as much as he does tails. family reunions kinda chaotic
jules is the youngest of four, and chuck is the oldest, so chuck pretty much raised him. there's a 13 year age gap there, so by the time chuck was ready to forge his own path, jules was like... 7. unfortunately mom died kinda early and dad was too broken from manual labor to do much on his own, paulie was pretty much running the farm, and bernie was kind of a wild child who took care of herself, so... yeah. off jules went with chuck. though not the best situation, they turned out okay (even if a younger jules annoyed the hell out of a younger chuck)

Fangs Fogarty- Riot Night pt3
After seeing Jug and Fangs the next week goes quickly and before we knew it Jughead was back at school. We're sat in the classroom we used to hold our meetings at
"So this is how is ends huh? not with a whimper but a memo from Weatherbee" Jug shakes his head
"Riverdale high is now suddenly overcrowded" Toni sighs
"Starting next week all former Southside High students will be busted to Seaside High, which is 2 hours away" I say
"Meaning he blames us for trashing the school during riot night"
"I mean Pea you kinda did" I shrug as Sweet Pea folds his arms then sighs
"Whats our play? do we even have one?"
"I dunno anymore guys. Can't keep fighting for a gang that doesn't exist"
"I'm sorry what?" I say shocked
"Well what about us? or any of the other Serpents at the Wyrm?" Toni says annoyed
"What Serpents at the Wyrm?"
"How do you not know?" I ask.
We arrive at the Wyrm and Jughead is mad
"I don't understand"
"You saw what the Ghoulies did to most of sunnyside" Toni starts
"A lot of Serpents couldn't afford to leave Riverdale so we came here" Pea finishes
"YN has been working her butt off trying to nurse sick and injured back to health" Toni says
"Does my dad know about this?"
"Yes" I sigh
"Why did he keep this from me?"
"Because he knew you would want to fight for us” I shrug with a sad smile
"I'll fix this" Toni’s phone begins to ring. She walks away answering it
“How are you YN?” Jug asks
“Morning sickness is dreadful, but thankfully I’ve got Toni, Cheryl and Pea here to help me”
"Guys" Toni hangs up her phone walking back to us "that was Cheryl she said Sheriff Minetta is raiding the Wyrm. Start packing"
"Are you being serious?"
"I'm afraid so. Cheryls on her way”
"Take only what you absolutely need and can carry with you. We gotta pack light. Move quickly and quietly. Sheriff Minettas forces are all over looking for our blood. If we want our skulls to remain uncracked we have to go undetected"
"Go where Jughead theres nowhere safe" Sweet Pea says
"Weve been offered asylum on the Northside by Archie and his dad" I look at Pea then the rest of the Serpents. I pack lightly and Sweet Pea helps me to carry my bag. We reach the bridge that divides the Southside from the Northside I turn around with tears in my eye
"Come on don't look back" Pea says putting his arm over my shoulder and giving me a hug.
Fred and Archie hand out food for the Serpents as I sit down eating a sausage sandwich
"Bacon anyone" Fred says holding a pan
"What's going on here? You do all this"
"With an assistance from Archie. Toledo's gonna have to wait" Jug replies to his father
"Bulldogs helping Serpents, Fred Andrews opening up his house to a bunch of snakes. There goes the rest of your Northside vote buddy" FP slaps Fred on the back
"We're all neighbours here"
"How are you feeling YN?"
"Tired but I'm ok"
"Good. You taking care of her for Fangs?” FP points to Sweet Pea
"Of course, she’s one of my best friends”
"Hey Jug how many Serpent jackets you think we can borrow?"
“Not sure why?"
"You think enough for the whole school?"
"What are you thinking Andrews?" I raise an eyebrow
"I can't believe it. You even managed to get Reggie to wear one" I say shocked seeing all students wearing a Serpent jacket. Reggie walks over to us wearing the jacket. I give him a smile and we wait for the principle to come out of his office
After a few minutes he walks out
"What's the meaning of this?" he asks
"It's a show of support sir for the Southsiders who are being wrongly transferred out of our school. Everyone's ready to walk out" Archie says
"Any student who walks out better keep walking because they'll be expelled" I sigh feeling like weve been defeated
"Your a good man Principle Weatherbee your not the kind of person who discriminates and if you are. Then expel me because I don't wanna be a apart of that" there's a long pause
"Everyone get to class" I look up to Pea who's already looking at me smiling
"You think that means we're staying?" he asks
"Not sure but I think we have more of a chance. Plus look at this, this support for the Serpents, maybe things will start to get better for us"
"I hope so" Pea says. We go back to the student lounge to wait to hear what the results of the voting is
"Attention riverdale high students. The result of your student council election are in" this grabs everyone's attention "your new student body president is.... Archie Andrews" everyone starts cheering "In unrelated news for the foreseeable future all former Southside High students will remain at Riverdale High that is all" this causes everyone to cheer with happiness.
Once school is out the Serpents all head to Sweetwater river. I arrive with Fangs on crutches
"Fangs how you doing man?” Pea gives him a hug
"Listen up now. Alright listen up. Some 60 years ago the very first Serpent meeting took place on these same river banks. It's makes sense this is where we gather where I...." FP pauses "where I say my goodbye. Jughead, will you come here a minute"
"I'm retiring from the Serpents for good this time"
"What?" I say shocked
"Jughead has never stopped fighting for this crew. Hell he almost died for it. That's why I'm giving you the mantle” FP says to Jug. We starts cheering and clapping as FP hands a red jacket to Jughead
"I think you know what to do with this”
"I love you dad. And the Serpents will not die out. Not on my watch" Jug says he then slips the jacket on to Cheryl
"Welcome to the Serpents Cheryl" I shout
“We also need to say a welcome back to Fangs” Jughead claps. Sweet Pea pats his back making him wince in pain.
After the speeches, I help Fangs sit down, Pea gives him a drink
“You need to sit down YN”
“I’m fine babe, don’t worry” I lean down and give Fangs a kiss “also I have a scan tomorrow, wanna come and see your baby?”
“Hell yeah” Fangs kisses me again “oh and Sweet Pea. Thank you for taking care of YN while I was in hospital”
“Of course. We’re family”

A Helping Hand
Summary: After an accident leaves Regina Mills with several broken bones, her friend Mary Margaret argues that Regina needs some help at home while she recovers. Regina, naturally, doesn't like the idea. She believes her injuries make her look weak - and she hates looking weak. When Regina chases off aide after aide, the agency turns to Robin Locksley. Though he has left the field for personal reasons, he has a special knack for difficult patients and Tuck hopes he will be the one aide Regina can't chase off. Robin reluctantly agrees to work the assignment. Will Regina chase Robin off too? Or will he prove to be just as stubborn as her? And if so, will Robin finally teach Regina that it's okay to accept help when needed? And will Regina provide the healing Robin himself needs?
Chapter 1: FFN | AO3 | Wattpad
Chapter 6: A Turning Point
FFN | AO3 | Wattpad
Excerpt:
"I don't know if I can do this much longer," Robin admitted, sinking down on his couch with a beer in one and his phone in the other. "She may be the one difficult patient who actually bests me, Tuck."
His boss sighed. "Are you sure that's not the fatigue talking?"
"Maybe," Robin said, taking a sip. "But she actually tricked me and made me think she was reading a book when she was doing work. She even advanced the pages to make it look realistic!"
Tuck let out a low whistle. "I wonder what she was like as a teenager then. Her parents probably had their hands full."
Remembering the image of Regina tensing up and insisting that she was going to be good when he needed to subdue her during her nightmare, he felt the strange desire to defend her. "I don't think she was allowed to be rebellious, based on some things she let slip about her mother," he said.
"Oh," Tuck said, sobering up. "Have you talked with Archie then?"
"Yes, and he said that he would get back to me with some strategies," Robin replied. "But I don't know if they will work."
Tuck hummed. "I'm sure if anyone can make them work, it's you. And I know that you're just doing me a favor and you can walk away at any time…"
"I'm not," Robin assured him. "I am tempted to but I wouldn't leave you in the lurch like that. Nor do I want Regina Mills to think she has won."
"I appreciate this, Robin," Tuck said. "I know this hasn't been easy for you for many reasons and I will forever be in your debt."
Robin chuckled. "I'll be sure to collect."
"I'll let you go get some rest," Tuck replied. "And you can always call me if you need to vent. Alright?"
"Alright," Robin said, gratitude filling him. "Thanks, Tuck. Goodnight."
He hung up the phone and let it fall onto the couch next to him. Robin took a long sip of his beer before leaning his head back and resting it against the back of the couch. Closing his eyes, he groaned. "I really need your advice, Marian," he said. "What should I do?"
Only silence answered him.
"I miss you," he confessed to the air. "So, so much. It's not fair that you're gone. You should be here with us."
He sighed as he sat up straighter. "Please give me some patience to deal with Regina Mills. I'm in short supply with this client, Marian, and I really need some of yours. It always seemed so endless, especially when it came to me.
"I love you, sweetheart," he finished. He raised his beer bottle before finishing the drink, deciding to get ready for bed in hopes of getting enough rest to deal with Regina the next day and to possibly see Marian in his dreams.
That would boost him the most.

Now I want more briarwood!reader and Percy, maybe they meet back up in Whitestone or see them at the ball? I just want more of the lovely dynamic that was in the previous briarwood ask.
Since this one is turning out slightly longer your request came in right in time! Here's a little reunion scene with our angsty boi. I already have a Briarwood!reader meeting back up with Percy in the workings but for now this will have to suffice. 😘
It’s not easy sneaking through a city in shambles, under the watch of the enemy, undead giants and no way of discerning friend from foe. Vox Machina stands alone… until help finds them, hides them and requests their aid. Keeper Yennen, an old friend and ally to the de Rolo’s and therefor Percy informs them of the resistance, and in their underground hideout they’re introduced. When they enter the hide out, Keeper Yennen is speaking with a hooded figure in whisper tones. It appears this cloaked individual noticed them approach and took care to be surrounded by more shadows adding onto they mysteriousness and immediate suspicion from some of the newcomers. What they missed was this person freezing up for just a second when Percy spoke, made himself known and revealed his identity in no uncertain terms. It’s with that this figure excused themself leaving the group to question should they run off and inform the Briarwoods of their location. Yennen insisted this informant wishes to remain anonymous for their own safety, your own safety…
And so you’re hit by a whirlwind of emotions. He came back. Percy came back to Whitestone but he did not come for you, nor to free the people. He came here for revenge. Everything else is just a happy side effect. He’s changed so much from the boy you knew and aided to the man that stood in the same room as you, brown hair now white, grown tall but never lost that edge only a noble could possess. Despite his warped priorities, Percy seems empathetic to the cause and the people’s own rage and frustrations. It’s not his place. He wasn’t raised to lead. That’s what he says. You want to tell him ‘screw that’ but you can’t. Not yet. You can’t risk it now when you’re vulnerable. It hurts, seeing the person you held hope for, the one who could be the salvation of the many and has the tools to do so, abandon that so easily. You wonder if he knew it was you under that hood if he’d think differently. You dare not hope, especially not now, but you can wonder, wonder if you’d be enough to spark that flame.
If you’ve learned anything from the past years it’s that it doesn’t matter what you’re meant to be. It doesn’t matter where you belong. The only thing that matters are your choices, what you do when the shittiest of situations arise and how you work through them. You’ve put yourself in the line of fire, literally and figuratively and have done so, aware of the consequences or not, but always prepared to face them one way or another. We do what needs to be done. Those words even sound like Percy’s in your head when you think them. If you did what needed to be done, to keep yourself safe over half of Whitestone would be dead, the remaining ones enslaved by your so-called family. This family of yours, you don’t even dare use that name anymore. You’re not a Briarwood, no matter how much they might call you one. You go against everything they do and stand for, with or without their knowledge. If you did not undermine left and right, fuel the flames that would hinder them, you gather the name Briarwood would be one heard across Tal’Dorei in fear, or admiration for their conquering.
This little get-together with Vox Machina would not be the last time you lay eyes upon them. Archi needed to be saved. You’d be their inside ‘help’. You’d been a silent observer during those meetings, the terrible planning session that made you wonder if maybe, just maybe you’d be better off without this unpredictable bunch of idiots that left you pinch the bridge of your nose more often than not while you bit your tongue. After the meeting they left along with the other rebels leaving you alone with Yennen. Once the last one is out of the door and the light of the hallway quenches you take off your hood with a big sigh.
“This is ridiculous, Yennen. We can’t depend on these people to save Whitestone. We can’t count on him to lead.” You express your frustration, perhaps a little too fuelled by personal grievances.
“It’s not up to us to say what is and isn’t. They are capable. I have faith.” You begin pacing back and forth. You want to believe so bad but there’s too many variables. Despite aligning interests, there’s not trust. Yennen won’t help until they’ve proven themselves but why send them to get one of the leaders of the rebellion back when messing that up could seriously impact everyone. Does Yennen not see the risks?
“I used to have faith and look at me now. No matter what you and the others tried, I still ended up chained like a dog. The only difference is, they granted me a long leash.” You hold up your hands, showing the heavy tight bracelets around each wrist. “If their suspicions are confirmed it won’t be just my head on the chopping block… You know what will happen if they make me talk.” Yennen breathes in deeply at the mental image of what happened to those before you for far lesser offences, and the thought of exactly how many of those you keep safe with your secrets and how ruthless the Briarwoods would be when they got exposed. Your conversation gets interrupted by the creaking of the door. Instantly you turn towards it, pull it open knife already in one hand.
There you find a half-elf dressed in black, dark hair and eyes stepping back as you point the blade at his throat, until he hits the wall of the hallway and has nowhere else to go. Once the surprise fades he manages to smile hold his hand between the two of you but it does little to stop the steel gazing the skin of his neck, still he brushes off that last fact.
“I’m only going to ask you this once. What are you doing here?” You threaten.
“Oh-uh, I seem to have misplaced one of my daggers. You don’t happen to have seen it, have you? I think I might have dropped it in the room. I was just coming to g-“ The half-elf makes the smart call and quits digging himself a deeper grave.
“I was only going to ask once but I’ll give you another chance to answer truthfully before I’ll let you borrow my knife. Though, I’ll be the one deciding if it joins the one on your belts or finds itself through your heart.” The moment Percy heard the commotion he rushed back and then he saw you, blade at Vax’ throat. You really haven’t lost that uncanny ability to bluff your way through something with sheer guts, have you? He didn’t expect to see you here, or ever again. He had always assumed you’d met an untimely end, just like his sister, especially after you helped them escape. You still must hold some value to the Briarwoods if they kept you alive after that, though he does not want to know what torture they might have put you through. Some brief inkling of guilt within him stops his next train of thoughts in its tracks; how to use you against his enemies and what kind of advantages you might offer, dead or alive. He will not go there. He refuses. No matter how much that darkness within him might call for it; you won’t be the key to his revenge. Not when there’s many other and better ways. That sates the darkness within it seems.
“That’s enough.” Percy demands. Your eyes dart to him, grip on your knife faltering and in that brief moment of distraction Vax, gets out of the spot you drove him in, disarms you and gets into a defensive stance. You care little, it seems as pain fills your eyes.
“Percival. Welcome back.” You breathe with a tad more sarcasm than intended. At this point Yennen has stopped in the doorway, watching this encounter go down. “I’ll play my part. If you will all excuse me, I have a cage to return to, before they notice me missing.” Fly home little songbird. Isn’t it ironic? Your predicament will ever remain the same; always forced to return to your keepers. You manage to offer Vax an apologetic look as you go to move past Percy. He grasps your arm before you can.
“A moment of your time?” Percy asks, though his features are all but begging for you to agree. He wants to know. No matter how much it might hurt him, or drive him to feel guilty. He needs to know what happened, if only to further fuel his own rage. Payback is sweet, but sweeter so when the involvement of others makes it justice. He will deny any and all claims that there might be more reasons for his desire to speak to you in private… for there are many…
“No.” Disappointment. You feel like a child wishing for nothing but approval. “At least, not now. Later.” You hate yourself for compromising. You hate yourself for giving in. Why did you agree after all? Because knowing what might come, you don’t know if you could live with yourself with that being your last memory of Percy. And maybe, just maybe you’ve missed him and would like nothing more than company that you need to watch your every twitch around. Maybe things can be like back in the day, with less torture preferably.
Percy nods and lets you go. It’s as good as it will get. He still can’t fully believe that you’re here but he’s also not foolish enough to deny the hint of growing resentment that have blossomed ever since you’ve been reunited. Before it was nothing more than a hooded figure, nameless, faceless and without any connections to him so he couldn’t care less what some stranger thought of him or his friends but now he knows it’s you, he wants to do nothing more than change it. Some part of him still wishes for your approval because who is he when he’s lost it all? Who is he when the last thing he has, has abandoned him because of his own actions, because of who he became? His friends might tell him one thing, they might agree or disagree because of their personal opinions of views. They are but outsiders looking in. You were there. You know these people. You know this history. You lived through this just as he has. He need someone who will understand and the only one that just might is you… he hopes.
—————
Careful of your every step, sticking to the shadows you’ve grown so accustomed to, so much so they feel like an embrace, a comfort in a place that knows no sunlight, knows only clouds and rain and darkness. The once beautiful palace now cast in shadows make it an eery sight, but that does not bother you. It’s not within the structure true darkness rests. It’s formed from what the inhabitants cast upon it with their presence. Your family are such inhabitants, calling a place not theirs home, disgracing the memories that once graced these halls. If all goes accordingly, it might be traitor’s blood that tells their stories next. Or maybe the last drop will finally spill and the blood staining the stones will be yours and that of those you’ve allied with. Maybe it will be Percy’s blood next, should he fail. You hope not. To whatever gods might be watching, whatever graces still kind and good in this world, may they favour you all because you fear you might have lost yours.
“You’ve been out and about, haven’t you? I hope it has not interfered with your duties.” Her voice rattles through your bones, nevertheless you put on an indifferent smile, pulling the bag from beneath your cloak and placing it on the table your mother is seated at.
“Just a stroll to clear my head, mother. I would not dare to disappoint.” Your voice stays light as you open the bag setting out the contents for her to inspect. “Your requested components. The vertebrae of a youngling were particularly difficult to acquire.” You cringe at the memory of having to dig through what little bones remained in the graveyard after the necromancer’s tendencies to raise the dead whenever suitable.
“Thank you, my dear. I can always count on you to know exactly what I need when asked for.” She inspects the bones as well as the other things you brought before closing up the bag. She walks over to you, bringing her hands to your cheeks and holding your face, looking at you closely, with adoration, though it’s always seemed more akin to that of an owner to their pet. Delilah Briarwood has shown plenty of times she truly loves you as a child, but her love is a sick and twisted kind. You have a certain image and standard to live up to, and you need to be corrected every time you fail to do so in a way that assures you will never make such a mistake again. Only the strong survive. You can only count on family. All else is worthless. Perhaps had things gone differently, you’d have believed that and been so blindly loyal. Where would that have gotten you? A caged bird without an ounce of self-awareness, manipulated to think what you wants is always what they want for you. You’ll keep striving for your own freedom, your own choices and your own life.
“Finish up your studies. Don’t be late for dinner. Your father and I have been considering lifting your punishment and take these-“ She twists one of the bracelets on your arms. “-off every so often. It’s such a shame to have all that talent be wasted and with what is to come, we could use your help. It’s not gone unnoticed a nuisance has entered Whitestone.” She purrs before she steps back and moves to the door. She bids you farewell and leaves you alone in the chamber… Take them off… You’d get access to your magic once more. You’d not be useless, with nothing but a dagger and your wits to keep you alive… You could be free… but at what cost? And so you sit down and think; deliberate an impossible choice.

MERLIN’S APPRENTICE & MERLIN’S CHAMPION || trollhunters
warnings: swearing
a/n: if rott gave me anything it gave me this idea
Tumblr media
I KNOW I SAID “JUICY” BUT REALLY THAT WAS JUST THE ANGST POTENTIAL,, THAT IM NOT INDULGING IN THIS POST IM SORRY LMAO
OKAY WHAT IM REALLY TALKING BOUT HERE IS A GOOD MERLIN/ARTHUR BUT IT ACTUALLY WORKS
no sorry i haven’t seen bbc merlin don’t come for me i’m ignorant
OKAY SO
we know douxie kept an eye on the human trollhunter and co
but douxie’s really having a hard time convincing himself he’s just doing his job
he’s actually enjoying this a little too much despite how boring staying in the shadows is
and he’s kinda worried?
so he’s got this bright idea: you know what would better help him keeps tabs? if he befriends this person
and so he does
fuck merlin’s shadows
sod the rules
ofc he’s very up front about knowing they’re the trollhunter and that he’s merlin’s apprentice
we wouldn’t want that to become a huge festering secret that eats douxie from the inside out until the inevitable reveal when merlin calls them both to help with the arcane order and they realize they’ve both been lying to each other’s faces for months/years and neither of them know if they could ever trust the other again, right? — phew *catches breath*
but before you know it, mr. casperan and mx. trollhunter are best friends
he’s basically the toby to your jim
and you’re very happy to have a best friend like douxie
he understands that monster hunting hustle
he’s the only person you can vent to and actually talk about what’s going on without sounding like a loon
and douxie likes being able to tell someone all his frustrations with merlin, since you’re also in that boat with him
you spar sometimes. it’s fun, but you’re very careful not to accidentally hurt your friend (he’s extremely careful not to hurt you or wound your ego by effortlessly wiping you out)
ofc, there’s the occasional, brushing of hands, faces a little too close together, accidentally winding up on top of one another, purposefully winding up on top of one another 👀 you know how sparring be
you and douxie are a duo. a duo who have become trollmarket’s resident troublemakers, to vendel’s exasperation
you guys tease each other a lot
you do a lot of stupid shit, cause hey, now you have magic armor and a magic sword and a magic best friend, did you think you wouldn’t get up to some shenanigans?
douxie is your impulse control and he’s not a very good one, as he’s just as bad
truthfully archie has the brain cell
and pranks? gods the pranks. you two are always either pranking each other or you’re teaming up to prank some other troll who said smth mean to you in the pub. vendel had to personally put a stop to it (read: chew you out)
doux thinks the world of you tho, you’re such a noble knight, and likes to tell people about how you’re a cinnamon roll, so innocent, so pure
and then they meet you and you directly contradict those statements
trollhunter: i’ve never done anything wrong in my life, ever
douxie: i know this and i love you
(spoiler: you’ve done lots and lots of wrong)
doux spends an awful lot of time slinking around trollmarket now, and he’s in the know for everything that’s happening
(no more being kept in the dark for this wizard apprentice)
and doux knows merlin won’t completely approve of this, but hey, it’s not like he’s helping and thus directly disobeying
really, he’s not helping you at all, it’s really fucking annoying
okay so mayyybe the occasional healing spell. you’ve got those puppy dog eyes he can’t say no to
but you understand his sense of duty, or whatever it is that drives a follower, technically being a follower of merlin yourself
you respect the old geezer (as you have not been turned into a half-troll yet) as a wise mythical figure, and as your best friend’s father
and what a perfect match you are for each other, champion and apprentice, mutually being screwed over by a guy you both think has all the answers
you and douxie help each other grow in your self-worths, that you two are more than the chances merlin has given to you
unfortunately, mortifyingly, you have caught feelings.
douxie has also caught feelings, and is saying nothing yep you have enough on your plate without him putting this on you so he’ll just quietly pine and suffer don’t mind him choking to death in the corner when you take off your helmet and throw back your hair
y’all’s problem really starts manifesting itself as protectiveness. you are really protective of your wizard and he is really protective of his knight
lots of things said that are Not What Friends Say but neither of you really want to be the one to point that out
lots and lots of i love yous that slowly get more and more serious until it’s not exactly platonic anymore
and it’s just really nice to have someone to get coffee (or your favored hot drink) with at four in the morning after a tussle with a troll
and that’s basically how you and douxie spend the bulk of trollhunters, just vibing
as much as you can vibe, with all the changelings and shit trying to murder you all the time
then merlin wakes up and shakes up your world
you are aware of your impending doom
you’re aware of it
merlin keeps looking you up and down like he’s mentally making up the measurements of your coffin
and tbh the idea of fighting gunmar freaks you tf out
and you’re supposed to win that fight?
gods
you’re preparing for your nightmares coming true soon
truthfully you knew your fucking job had a 100% mortality rate
you don’t want to die with regrets
so
you spill
you spill all the things you’d wanted to tell him and how much he means to you and that you couldn’t bear it if you were a goner before he knew
miraculously, douxie feels the same and tells you all the things he’d been holding back and and what you mean to him and how much he wants to protect you, that you’re gonna make it, if he had anything to say about it
and everything is perfect for one night
now you have a real reason to win
not that saving humanity isn’t a big responsibility on your shoulders and definitely A Reason
but knowing douxie’s waiting for you, for the life youll build together after this, the peace you’ll both have, it’s absolutely a big motivation to give your all and come out victorious and survive
hahaha loser you don’t know about the arcane order
and then merlin uses your microwave to cook a weird potion
you and merlin are alone in the house, but there’s no real mind games necessary. you may have grown past thinking he was a god, but in the end, you’re still a follower of merlin, and if merlin thinks this could give you an edge, well, who are you to question his methods
doesn’t mean you aren’t nervous as your master hands you the bottle
yet you don’t even hesitate to drown yourself in the black abyss of the tub
whatever it takes amirite?
and now you’re a half-troll
a sexy half-troll, if you do say so yourself
yeah, no ‘i’m a monster’ angst here, you’re loving the power-up
you’ve got to treat it like a cool new power-up or you will cry actually tbh i lied about the no-angst thing a new body is disorienting
your only real concern is douxie
not concerned for long tho, he sees you and the first thing out of his mouth is “nuclear!”
and he senses your concern, so he does go out of his way to assure you that boy, girl, enby, or half-troll, he loves you for your soul, darling
also again half-troll! you is hot as hell so he’s not really losing anything here 👀
he makes sure you know that too, not to let any insecurities fester
him raking his eyes up and down you gives the opposite effect of the dread merlin sent down your spine doing it
anyways,,,
doux helps out a lot more in the eternal night
like helps merlin re-defeat and re-seal morgana
he’ll do it again in few weeks but with a bigger role you know, this is practice
thank merlin for that edge YOU ARE THE LAST TROLLHUNTER YOU ARE VICTORIOUS YOUVE GOT GUNMARS HEAD IN YOUR HANDS HAHAHA
but now you’ve got to go to new jersey
douxie’s been instructed to stay in arcadia tho 🥺
it’s okay, you’ll see each other again soon
sooner than you realize
and until then you talk each other to sleep every night over the phone <3
merlins glad, actually. he’s glad hisirdoux found some solace. even if it is with the lamb he was raising for the slaughter. maybe things will go okay for them. the time map suggests it might be so
hisirdoux may have done things in a way he didn’t quite approve of, but that’s because he’s becoming his own wizard, and merlin is proud

My Thoughts on Trollhunters : Rise of the Titans
WARNING : ALL THE SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW
.
.
.
Mmmmm. Okay. So I just finished the movie. I’m fatigued as always so this’ll be a bit of a mess lol. Gotta spew the thoughts while they’re still fresh, y’all know how it is.
Right out the gate, I definitely want to talk about the things I loved.
The animation was, of course, phenomenal and gorgeous!
Voice acting was incredible as always
MUSIC SLAPPED
Douxie. I just loved seeing Douxie again and honestly kept my eyes trained on him for most the of movie lol
OK DOUXIE AND NARI SWITCHING?? BODIES??? Definitely didn’t see that coming and I legit started screaming lol
Nari in Douxie’s body is the most precious, chaotic, and wholesome thing like holy cow that was so adorable LOOKIT DOUXIE CROUCHING AND CRAWLING AROUND ON ALL FOURS WITH THOSE NOODLE LIMBS OF HIS I CAN’T --
We called Nari’s mind control and Douxie trying to reason with her!
In the very few scenes they were together, Douxie’s love and affection for Nari really came through. You could really feel how much he cared about her. ALSO THAT TENDER HUG AND NARI’S LITTLE HAPPY SQUEAK MY HEART NO--
Loved Barbara. Always love Barbara.
Walter and Barbara getting engaged
Nomura back in action
Claire being the powerful sorceress she’s become
Loved seeing Aja, Krel, and Varvatos all together again.
NARI VS SKRAEL WAS ALL SORTS OF EPIC AND CRUSHING EMOTIONS.
The way Douxie yelled Nari’s name and ran to her after she died and the remnants of her magic falling all around him, like she was saying goodbye, just *UGLY CRYING*
It was so cool to see Charlie out of his den and flying about like the mighty dragon he is
Loved the Guardians of Arcadia pulling Excaliber out together.
All the gang all going after Bellroc together
YES JIM MY BOOOOOOY
BLINKY DIDN’T DIE
Aarrgh I love you so much
Stuart, what a bro!
We saw a hint of mercy in Bellroc towards the end.
Toby’s death... That was a huge curveball. Jim might as well have cut my heart out with Excaliber as he sobbed over his best friend.
Uh.....um....and.....Er...what else........ .___.
..........Alright so.......It’s about to get a bit brutal from here on out as I talk about the things I didn’t like at all. And the really sad thing is, at least to me, the cons far outweigh the pros in this movie. Because I’m actually having difficulty picking out things I enjoyed, they were so few and far between...which really sucks.
So here we go.
Gosh, where to begin... I guess I’ll go ahead and say this : I’m really disappointed.
Like as I’m here typing this, I’m just thinking, “...That was it? That was the movie?? The big finale???”
So much of this movie just felt....unnecessary. I hate to say almost like filler. The entire intro re-caping the series really wasn’t needed. And then Toby went and restated it all again when he was being interrogated. The pacing, oh my gosh...Guys, the pacing in this movie was not good. The action started and it never seemed to stop. There wasn’t a single moment of rest, of levity, of our characters just being themselves, getting to know each other, being friends outside of the battle. No Reckless Club Segment. No fun, just... I mean Claire and Aja didn’t speak to each other at all. Douxie and Toby hardly interacted. Steve was turned into a gross male pregnancy joke. Jim and Krel barely spoke. Douxie and Aja had nothing to say to each other. Even Aja and Krel didn’t have any moments together. The list goes on. The whole movie was just go, go, go. And it’s so frustrating because there was time for it but it was poorly executed.
Like was the whole break-in to the Chinese Trollmarket really necessary?? Guys, I really found myself not caring. I didn’t care to see this random side quest involving an insignificant new troll character and a Trollmarket that had little to no bearing on the plot. Did I love seeing Charlie, Archie, Blinky, and Claire? Of course! But these scenes were so pointless. So needless. They could’ve written other ways for all our heroes to go after the chronosphere (Maybe we could’ve had Zoe for crying out loud). But instead this vital artifact was the hands of a character we don’t know and don’t care about in a place that turned out to have basically nothing to do with anything.
Deaths. The deaths in this movie. Because of the pacing in this movie, there wasn’t nearly enough time for the emotional impacts to sink in. Nomura? Gone and the only ones mourning her are Aaarrgh and Douxie, who barely knew her. Walter’s death was handled better since we got to see Jim and Barbara actually having a moment to mourn him. The weight of Nari’s death was singlehandedly carried by Douxie, but even that was over before it started. The immense gravity of Toby’s death, which really got to me, was also short-lived to make way for an ending that...I don’t know.
ALSO DOUXIE JUST??? BEING OKAY WITH HIS FAMILIAR, THE ONE WHO RAISED HIM AND WENT THROUGH SO MUCH WITH HIM FOR CENTURIES, LEAVING HIM FOREVER TO BE TRAPPED IN THAT DUMB TROLLMARKET WITH CHARLIE LIKE???
“I hope he’s happy.”
WHAT. THE. EVERLASTING. FRICK.
Douxie’s reaction objectively doesn’t make a shred of sense. Geez, it’s almost like Douxie was expecting Archie to up and leave him someday to be with Charlegmane. Just...what???
What also frustrates me so much is how this movie undid so much characterization and development that happened in Wizards. Or more like all that development didn’t even matter.
What was the point of Steve’s arc in Wizards if he was just going to be reduced to...this?
I was so excited to see Douxie really being a Master Wizard. To see him lead the Guardians of Arcadia alongside Jim. To see him in action as Successor to Merlin and Protector of this Realm.
But no.
Douxie, who had such an incredible arc in Wizards and a character who’s come to mean so much to me in my life, was nerfed and sidelined.
And then time restarts and I can’t help but wonder why any of this mattered at all. What the heck was the freaking point of the suffering, the loss, the pain, the growth, enduring and overcoming so much, the friendships and family spanning across three shows... All gone. Starting all over. Undoing everything, except what Jim went through. As much as I love Jim, I didn’t think he’d be the only character I’d be getting closure for at the grand finale of this entire franchise. But that’s what happened and I really hate it.
Just...all in all, this movie wasn’t satisfying. Not to me. It had its good moments. But not nearly enough. The comedy was misplaced and fell flat. The climax was sorely anticlimactic and didn’t hold a candle to Eternal Knight. The writing, the direction, characterization...For some reason it was all lost and confused and none of it felt right and so much didn’t make sense.
I’m not at all upset with the writers, though, because they still pulled through and did what they could. When the movie did something right, it was beautiful. The things I loved about it I truly adored. No, I’m not upset in the least bit with any of the creative team.
I’m upset with Netflix. I’m upset that Wizards was robbed of the seasons it should’ve had. I’m upset with big cooperations stifling creators. I’m upset that this’ll be it. This is the ending we got and nothing can be done about it.
Aaron did say there’s every possibility for the franchise to continue in some capacity, and I’m hoping for that someday. Because so much, too much, has been left unanswered. So much left to be explored that couldn’t. But until then....I guess this is it. This is what we get.
Now, I want to remind everyone that this is my own personal experience with the movie. These are all my opinions. If you enjoyed every second the movie, that’s wonderful! And who knows how my thoughts will change upon another viewing. But in the meantime, Rise of the Titans really missed the mark for me. I wanted found family badassery and fluff. But nope. Just fighting and heaviness and no payoff. It’s such a letdown...a real shame.
But yeah...Thanks to any and everyone who read to the end of this haha
I still love Tales of Arcadia. It’s a series that has blessed and inspired me so much as an artist, writer, and as a person in general. I do want to keep making ToA content for a while. Cause this movie isn’t the end. Not my ending, at least.
I’ll continue to hope for more Tales of Arcadia in the future (a Douxie spin-off series please Lord pleaaase). We shall see. Until then, fics and fanart fixing this mess galore haha
Until next time everyone! God bless!

When the joke AU gets out of hand and now its like, a whole thing
SO uhm here is the post about the fake marriage on Pasio au! Where the whole fake marriage thing ended up becoming more of a B plot more then anything, oops. The premise kind of got lost on me as I went along.
First things first, here’s the information I gathered from the Hoenn timeline in Pokemas itself so yall know what im working with (and as a side note, if you have no idea about the basic story of Pokemon Masters, the rest of this entire post might be a little confusing);
-Brendan is Normans son, and May the daughter of professor Birch. Brendan has at least defeated Normans gym, and neither of them have met Aqua or Magma, nor Archie or Maxie.
-Magma and Aqua don’t seem to be publicly known as bad in any way.
-The meteor with Zinnia has already happened, and someone else took that destiny from her. (I’ll be honest- I never end up really explaining this here. I had no idea how to even begin making sense of this considering this is post game stuff and Brendan never even seems to have made it to the Elite Four as far as we know)
And with that ! Here’s the actual story I managed to make out of that.
-The backstories for Archie and Maxie are the same as they’d normally be. Things only get different once the ORAS plots would normally start.
Magma and Aqua both don’t commit crimes (such as orb or submarine stealing) with their uniforms on and under their team names. As such, they’re still seen as regular, legit environment organisations trying to better the region.
May and Brendan never get involved with them either. Between no meddling kids and their crimes not being tied back to them, things end up going pretty fast on their end.
-Their crimes aren’t connected nor is anyone looking into them as something bigger- right up until the orbs get stolen. Those are considered important enough artifacts to raise some attention, and so, Steven and Wallace brought on the case to investigate as the Hoenn champions.
-It’s a lot easier said then done, and while they start to suspect Aqua and Magma have something to do with it, they have no concrete proof. Still, they do their best to figure out if it’s them and what their intentions with it would be.
-Regrettably for them they are too slow. Maxie and Archie both make it to the sea cavern , and both raise their respective legendaries. Kyogre is there, Groudon is there, as a result even Rayquaza shows up. There’s a lot going on— and then, within a couple of minutes, there isn’t. All legendaries vanish into thin air, so fast that the population of Hoenn never even realised what was happening out on sea. Except for some unfortunate swimmers who never end up being believed.
Maxie and Archie feel devestated, and the Hoenn League who did notice what happened is very alarmed. Keeping the incident quiet as to not incite a panic, Steven and Wallace are pushed onto this case instead now- to locate the missing legendaries, and ensure they won’t cause any harm- and maybe figure out what caused them to awaken in the first place.
Wallace and Steven immediately link that to the orbs, and as such, Aqua and Magma. Still, they have no actual proof- no one outside their teams saw Archie or Maxie doing anything.
-The reason behind the sudden disappearances turns out to be Hoopa! Who brought all of them to Pasio. The legendaries immediately went from fighting mode into very confused mode. They don’t know where they are or what happened. Groudon ends up hiding in the volcano on the island, while Kyogre keeps to the bottom of the water surrounding the island. -Rayquaza however doesn’t hide itself- and instead, floats around on a mountain top on the island. Rumors start floating around about it, and before long Zinnia shows up and becomes a sync pair with it.
-Steven and Wallace hear Rayquaza is over in Pasio, and figure the other two might be as well- so they go over to investigate. They also talk some with Zinnia about Rayquaza, but since it appears to be fine and calm and Zinnia is not planning on giving it up, she ends up keeping it and they leave her be to search for Groudon and Kyogre instead.
-Magma and Aqua also catch wind of Rayquaza being over there, and even hear about some sightings of what appear to be Kyogre and Groudon around the island. Now the plan is to get over there and get them…. but the problem is that Steven and Wallace are both there, and they’re well aware those two suspect them- and that suddenly showing up for no reason would probably only worsen those suspicions. While the both of them have complete faith in their power as a team, they’d rather not pick a fight with two champions if they can avoid it- especially when they’re on an island full of other champions and elite four members who would probably back them up if asked.
-Going with their entire team would definitely be too suspicious. That’s out. Going with their admins might still be risky- Plus, they can’t exactly leave their teams unattended back in Hoenn. So, Maxie and Archie end up figuring that the best course of action would be for them to go alone, at least for the time being. Scout out if they can locate the legendaries and a way to get to them- and then call backup if needed.
…But if they both go alone at the same time and end up fighting each other while they’re there… it wouldn’t help their case.
-And so, after some thinking things over, Maxie ends up deciding it’d be best if they went together under a temporary truce. So off to Aqua to talk it over with Archie he goes! There, they come up with their plan; faking a marriage, and going to Pasio under the excuse of being on honeymoon. Steven and Wallace wouldn’t be expecting it, so maybe it’d throw them off track! And for the rest of the trainers on Pasio- well, who isn’t happy for a couple living their best life? With a little luck it’d immediately make people trust them a bit more.
-So to Pasio they go! Maxie takes Camerupt as his sync partner, Archie partners with his Sharpedo. They rent a little vacation home- for obvious reasons, they’ll have to live together for a while, but with a little luck they can just avoid each other most of the time. Besides, at least the ad specified there being two beds.
-They misread the ad. There’s one single two person bed. Archie is promptly demoted to sleeping on the couch.
In general, while they do well enough at faking being very affectionate and loving in front of people, the moment they’re back in their house it’s a lot of fighting.
-Steven and Wallace are not stupid, and are immediately wary when Maxie and Archie suddenly show up no matter how well they’re putting on an act. Still, there’s not a lot they can do except keep an eye on them and ensure they stay away from the areas Kyogre and Groudon are spotted.
-The rest of the island however thinks they’re nice! Look at the cute couple having fun. Good for them.
-Overall, while things are going decently okay for Archie and Maxie, Steven and Wallace constantly blocking off areas where they could gather intel and trailing their every move is really hindering their ability to be able to do much of anything. And so the four of them enter an awkward stand still, where neither can really get the other off the island.
-For a while, Maxie and Archie just try to put on the act as best as they can, to hopefully get Steven and Wallace to lower their guard. They go on ‚dates‘ together, hang out with the other people around the island, attend events together, etc. Steven and Wallace still don’t trust them for shit however, and end up pushing May and Brendan towards them in the hopes that they might be able to spot something off.
-Brendan and May have no idea what anyone is trying to do here, and actually really like Archie and Maxie. They help show them all there is on Pasio and introduce them to new people time and time again.
-Eventually, Maxie and Archie realise that this is going to take a lot longer then they were hoping for- between Steven and Wallace not budging, and the trainers on Pasio constantly keeping them busy- they’re going to need an excuse to keep staying here. And they don’t actually need to wait long! -While being a lot less aggressive and in people’s face about it, Archie still talks about the environmental impact the island has on the ocean around it a good bit to some of the other trainers there- he is leader of an environmental group focused on the sea back at home, after all! People actually start agreeing with him, to a point it even reaches Lear. Conceding something should be done, Sawyer starts working on putting a team together that would help undo the damage they’ve caused by making the oceans around the island more habitable for the Pokemon that were made homeless because of them. Archie is one of the first people to get asked to join the team- and having a job there makes a great excuse to stay a while longer. Besides, it’s still working towards his goal to some extent, so he’s down! -A bit after that Maxie ends up joining the team that made the island and is currently in charge of keeping it thriving. Same for him- the job still aligns with his ideals, so he doesn’t mind doing it.
-This was also the time Archie started having serious back pain from sleeping on the couch each night, so he took the bed as well. Maxie threatened to kick him out, Archie wished him luck with that and… well, they both just keep to their side of the bed now.
-Back at home, Magma and Aqua are being good legit environmental groups working within the law. It’s been gaining them a great reputation, and being fully legitimate and not having to fear getting charged for crimes is also very nice for the teens working as grunts there.
-And so back in Pasio, Maxie and Archie forcefully have to take a step back from their plans… to live relatively normal lives instead. Surprise surprise, it’s not actually that bad! They enjoy their jobs, they actually start making some friends, half the kids on the island seem to have adopted them as cool new uncles… and they even start fighting less in private! They can actually get along sometimes.
Eventually the realisation hits that they’re living out the lives they wanted- before they ever joined Rocket and everything went so terribly wrong. Except their marriage being ‚fake‘, this was more or less the future they envisioned… and it’s very weird to think about.
-For Maxie, he does get sad reminiscing, and reminisce he does- but as long as Archie keeps going , he’d never give up his plans. While originally raising Groudon was truly out of his ideals, over time (and when their original breakup happened) it became less about that- and more about ‚winning‘ - winning out over Archie, and proving to both himself and the other he’d been right all along. Even when the evidence started pointing towards that not being the case and Tabitha only agreeing this was a bad idea, he was so caught up in not being able to lose now he never backed down- and just reassured himself the science had to be wrong.
As long as Archie is going, so is he.
-Archie however…. Archie’s plans of flooding the world to reset it- undo the damage humanity caused by ending it entirely- were born out of feeling like there truly was no other option, truly was no other good left. Being focused on that goal every day, it wasn’t hard to stay in that mindset. But now, having to forcibly take a step back- suddenly getting to live a normal life again, with a way to help that doesn’t require death and a support system outside of Aqua… Suddenly the hope returns that maybe there is more out there- maybe there is another way to go about this.
And so, after a lot of thinking, and a lot of doubting every answer he came up with- finally he rang up Shelly and Matt to talk things over, and talk about leaving Kyogre be. Shelly was thrilled- at the end she didn’t trust his plans with Kyogre anymore anways and seeing Archie finally with agree with her on that was a big relief to her. Matt didn’t entirely understand, but Archie seemed happier with this idea, and Shelly definitely seemed happier with this idea- so he certainly didn’t mind.
Afterwards, Shelly ends up privately talking to Archie some more, where he confided a lot in her about stuff he never told her before. It was a lot to take in, and she definitely wasn’t happy about his plans having always been to more or less commit genocide on humanity without ever having told them- but at the end of the day, he’s still her friend, no damage has actually been done, and he’s finally talking to her about it so they can work it out. As such, with some help from her, Archie ends up going to therapy on the regular to help keep him in a better headset.
-After all of this, Archie pulls Maxie aside to let him know he’s giving up on Kyogre, and Maxie… just doesn’t know how to feel about it at all- doesn’t even know if he can trust him. He certainly wasn’t expecting this either way. For a while, Archie just goes about his day on Pasio, while Maxie went very very quiet, just watching him from a distance.
They both spend so much time on this- suddenly given up was something he never thought would be an option, and it’s a lot to process. Besides, Archie could be lying. ….But truthfully, he’s known the other way too long to believe that. Archie is serious about this, and it’s not particularly hard to tell.
So, after a lot of hemming and hawing, he too finally rings up Courtney and Tabitha and calls of their mission with Groudon.
Magma and Aqua are both just legit regular environmental organisations now.
-Now with that decision made, they end up talking a lot over between each other themselves. About their past, about their teams, and about what they want to do now. This is where they finally decide to actually give their relationship another chance as well. Not necessarily as a romantic relationship- thought not strictly as just friends either. They decide to just take it slow, see what they’re comfortable with, and see where it takes them from there.
(A lot of trainers in Pasio actually worry this is when they got into a fight- since they stop acting overly affectionate to put on an act, and instead get to have awkward conversations trying to rekindle their relationship. Everyone is so worried about what happened. Sorry guys, they’ll be okay)
-Though they fully intent on going back to Hoenn and their teams, they’re not in a hurry to leave and stick out their job contract which only were for about half a year total anyways. During this, even Steven and Wallace start noticing a change in them and finally lower their guard a bit. They never do end up attempting to get to the legendaries- they’re just enjoying their time here now.
-When they do finally get back to Hoenn, they merge the teams and help the land and the sea together now. Archie also ends up convincing Maxie to join him for therapy sometimes- even without them almost ending the world, they do still both have their things to work trough.
-Groudon and Kyogre just vibe on Pasio now. They let kids battle them for fun sometimes. They’re doing alright.
-Brendan and May end up visiting Archie and Maxie a lot! That’s their cool gay uncles now.
-Somewhere along the way, as time passes, they actually end up legitimising the marriage documents they faked at the very start. And they still return to Pasio from time to time to meet up with the friends they made there. :]
Apologies if any of this was messy or unclear! it was a lot to try and condense down into a single post and I did my best, but ykno. if there did appear to be smth missing feel free to shoot me a message or an ask orz also this is my second time writing this post- first time i made the stupid mistake of typing it up in browser. And after over an hour of typing this all up…. tumblr refreshed for no reason, and deleted all of it. so writing this all a second time has been even harder then the first. ;; it hurt so bad.
Also, I do have a lot of thoughts n ideas abt the actual relationships they end up having w other characters on the island, but I’m saving that for another post! With the premise of Pasio there’s just so much potential to stuff all these diff characters from diff games into a place togehter and i want to make the most of that- so its prolly gonna b another long post lmao. i wont make this one even longer then it already is, so diff post it is
just know that they did in fact once see Giovanni on the island, and they almost ended up throwing hands.
(bonus; the link to the page where I keep all my oras HC posts and comics sorted)

Inseparable
Pairing: Reggie Mantle x reader
Synopsis: Reader and Reggie have been best friends since they were toddlers, nothing tearing them apart until Veronica their Junior year. This follows the rise and downfall of their friendship. Can they mend their friendship and be back to what they once were, will they be too hurt to fix their broken hearts, or will they finally admit their feelings for one another?
Word count: 2.6K+ (my hand slipped)
Warnings: Mr. Honey; he’s the worst villain to ever enter Riverdale, you can’t change my mind. Mentions of child abuse, nothing graphic past the mention of a black eye. Some angst. Spoilers for s4e4 technically, I still can’t believe what Mr. Honey did.
A/N: I have like 11 requests I still have to get to, yikes. I swear I’ll do them soon, but inspiration hit and I ended up writing this. there isn’t enough Reggie love on Tumblr, plus I have a tiny crush on Charles Melton, so writing this was a win win. let me know what you think, and if I should write more for Riverdale. Veggie is better than Varchie (don’t come for me), but I still think Reggie deserves better than Ronnie.
Tumblr media
Growing up in a small town like Riverdale there weren’t too many kids to become friends with, but when you met Reggie Mantle on your first day of preschool you knew he would be your best friend for life. Archie was showing off on the playground by walking up the slide when the teacher wasn’t looking. The problem then being that Archie's foot slipped right as you were walking passed the bottom of the slide, and he slid down and ended up knocking you on the ground. You started to cry because he scraped your arm bad enough that it started to bleed. Reggie, whom you shared a table with in class, watched from the sidelines as your teacher helped you up and took you to the nurse, he got his revenge during arts and crafts later that day- ‘accidentally’ spilling red paint all over the front of Archie’s khaki pants. When Reggie made it to the table you quietly thanked him and shared your paint with him since the teacher said he couldn’t have new paint as a lesson to be more careful next time.
As the years went on, yours and Reggie’s friendship only grew until you were inseparable; you two went on family vacations together, you went to every single one of his junior bulldog football games from the ages of eight to twelve, he went to your ballet recitals when you took classes in grade school even bringing you roses. Reggie was your rock at your grandmother’s funeral, you helped him pass his geometry class Sophomore year so he could stay on the football team, and you were the only person that he opened up to about his father’s abuse- having witnessed it with your own eyes a handful of times.
Your mom was convinced you and Reggie would fall in love and get married one day, and your father was convinced your friendship would crumble and ultimately go down in a blazing fire. Going into your senior year you hate to admit that your father was right, his words bouncing around in your skull every time your brain shut off for longer than two seconds. Veronica Lodge moved to town Sophomore year, enticing every boy within a fifty mile radius with her upper East side charm. Reggie didn’t fall for Veronica right away, he fell for her junior year when he was helping her with La Bonne Nuit. And as cliche as it is, that’s when you realized you were in love with him, you had been for a while. The small nagging voice in the back of your head told you that it had been since that day in preschool.
But you would grin and bear the pain, the soul crushing pain, if it meant that Reggie would still be in your life. And you did, for a while at least; until Reggie stopped calling and texting you back, until he stopped begging you to come to his games, until he stopped sneaking into your room every friday night after a game to go over the play footage where you would help him come up with new plays and tweaks to the old ones, until he started ignoring you in the halls in favor of making out with Veronica. You never hated the girl, she had been nothing but nice to you anytime you would interact, but God, you just wished she would disappear and give you your Reggie back.
You resented Veronica, leading your interactions with the girl to be more tense and your answers clipped, and that was what led to the blazing fire your father talked about. Reggie offered you a ride home one day after school, and of course you jumped at the opportunity to spend time with him again. Instead of going to pops and talking like you thought you would, the two of you got into your biggest, and last, fight ever.
It started with Reggie asking why you hated Veronica, where you defended yourself and swore that you didn’t. But he wouldn’t believe a word that came out of your mouth, continuing to press you as you two kept driving. The closer you got to the edge of town the worse the fighting got, your voice raising along with his. You accuse him of abandoning his friends, abandoning you, to be with Veronica all the time. He gets mad that you don’t understand why he’s with her all the time, claiming that you couldn’t understand not when you’ve never had a boyfriend. Something that he’s the reason for, since he scared all of the guys even remotely interested in you away with just one piercing glare or one lowly growled threat.
The comment picking on your relationship status, or lack thereof, is the straw that broke the camel's back. You let loose just as you pass the sign thanking you for visiting Riverdale, the town with pep. Pep your ass, the small town is full of death and endless heartache wherever you look. You rip into Reggie, letting the hurt take over as you scream and scream at him-calling him a terrible friend. He finally screams back, claiming that you’re worse because you hate his girlfriend. He has to pull his precious car over, the car you helped him pick out when he turned sixteen, because he started swerving when you two got into a screaming match.
The interaction ends with you getting out of the car on the side of the road leading into Greendale, slamming the car door behind you, knowing that he’ll get mad with how aggressive you’re being with his baby, his Bella. He does a sharp U-turn driving beside you, trying to coax you into getting back in the car with him. But you can’t do that, you can’t face him right now. So as you watch the taillights of the gun metal grey Chevelle disappear around the curve in the road you finally let the tears fall down your face, they stream harder and faster the closer you get to reentering the town with pep.
Reggie had dropped your backpack off at your house when he got back into town, so it was sitting there waiting for you in your living room alongside your worried mother. You cried into her arms that night for hours, until you were all cried out, not caring that you look like a big baby. You had just lost Reggie, you had just lost your everything. You hadn’t talked to him since that day in the middle of your junior year, even after him and Veronica broke up and she went back to Archie like always. The days of your senior year seemed to fly by, October coming in what felt like mere days as opposed to months, and your last Halloween in Riverdale is today.
You and Reggie would always wear matching costumes to trick or treat, and school just for fun as you got older, this always prompted your classmates to wonder if you two were finally dating. But that wouldn’t be happening this year, for the first time ever. You had even dressed up and sat on his porch in costume when you were six, handing out candy to the other kids so you could talk to Reggie, who was in costume too, through the window because he was sick with a 102.2 degree fever. You were dressed as Kim and Ron that year, his mom had even crocheted him a little Rufus to stick in his pocket. You couldn’t wait to get out of this town, away from Reggie, away from the places where you would see ghosts of your younger selves everywhere you went.
Kevin calls you freaking out after he and Reggie got caught tp’ing Mr. Honey’s office. Kevin caved after Mr. Honey threatened to make sure he wouldn’t get into NYU if he didn’t. Kevin felt guilty for his actions, and even though you hadn’t talked to Reggie in close to a year you were worried about him. Worried what his dad might do to him when he hears he got in trouble at school again, and worried what the unhinged Mr. Honey might do to him himself.
You don’t hear anything from Reggie the next day, not that you really expect to. You more-so hope he’ll call you, but you know what they say about hope- it breeds eternal misery. The day goes by at a snail's pace as you stare at your phone throughout the entirety of said day. You finally curl in on yourself and go to sleep after midnight, however sleep doesn’t stay for long. You’re awoken around two in the morning from your phone’s incessant ringing, in your dazed stupor you don’t realize it’s Reggie’s special ringtone- the bulldog cheer from Kim Possible.
“Hello?” you ask hoarsely, making sure to stay quiet so your parents won’t hear.
“(Y/N/N), can you talk?” your startled to hear Reggie’s voice on the other line. It sounds scratchy, like he was recently in a screaming match with someone. You open your eyes for the first time, finally accepting that you won’t be able to just roll over and slip back into your dreams. You glance at the alarm clock on your bedside table and your eyes widen at the time.
“It’s like two in the morning Reg,” you sigh, hoping he’ll wait till morning.
“Can I come over?” Reggie’s pleading now.
“Later, we can go to Pop’s for lunch or something,” you yawn loudly into the phone in protest.
“I’m already here,” before you can respond the line goes dead.
You can hear quiet, almost not there, footsteps outside your window as Reggie expertly navigates his way through the flowers and bushes outside your window. He taps on the window three times in quick succession, your old signal for when he would sneak over letting you know it was him at your window. You reluctantly get out of your warm cozy bed, stumbling to the window to open it for your former best friend.
Your plans for just slipping back into bed anf hopefully nodding off while he talks go out the window as you come face to face with Reggie’s swollen face. He has a split lip and a black eye, you’re sure he has belt marks on his back too. You don't care that Reggie is climbing through the window a little too loudly, your sole focus now on fixing him up. Once he’s in the room you sneak to the kitchen and quietly grab an ice pack, stopping in the bathroom to grab rubbing alcohol, cotton balls, and ibuprofen.
You hand him the pain reliever and your bottle of water, it’s not the first time you’ve shared, as soon as you shut your bedroom door behind you. He swallows the pills down with ease, and you both settle on your bed, a sad depressing routine. You don’t say anything as you clean his split lip, he winces slightly when the alcohol drenched cotton ball makes contact with his open wound.
“Mr. Honey caught Kevin and I last night,” Reggie admits quietly.
“I heard, Kevin told me,” you murmur unsure of where this conversation is headed, so you continue to dab at his lip.
“Mr Honey, he said that no one takes me seriously, no one since you. He said that he heard around school that I made my ‘persona’ bigger, became more of a prankster, after I lost you. He-he knew about my dad, (Y/N),” Reggie’s voice cracks, you can’t imagine what he must be feeling right now. “Said people at school are laughing at me, worst of all, you’re laughing at me.”
“Oh sweetie, no!” you're quick to jump in and defend. “I would never laugh at you, you know that. Never. No one else is either, he was just saying that to get a rise out of you.” Your arm moves without your permission, you push a strand of black hair out of his eyes before caressing his cheek softly.
“He tp’d my car, that I get. That was actually funny,” Reggie hisses, you aren’t sure if it’s because you’re lightly pressing the ice pack to his shiner or because of what he’s about to say next. “But he broke Bella’s windshield, shattered her passenger side window, and busted her left headlight.”
“I’ll kill him!” you jump up from your spot on your bed, no longer caring if you wake your parents. Reggie holds the ice pack to his eye with his right hand, cautiously reaching for your hands with his left. You calm down when his fingers intertwine with yours, sinking back down next to him.
“I avoided going home all day, but when I did and my dad saw the car,” Reggie takes in a shaky breath, and you rub the back of his hand with your thumb. “He did, well he did this.” He uses your joined hands to gesture towards his face.
You don’t say anything, instead just pulling him in for a hug. Reggie tenses at first before melting into your warm embrace. You pull him down onto the bed with you so you're laying side by side, he rests his head on your chest as you tuck the two of you in.
“I know we haven’t talked in a while,” you let out dissatisfied hum as you card your fingers soothingly through his hair. “But you're the only person I wanted to see, the only person I ever want to see. It’s been torture without you (Y/N).”
“It doesn’t seem like it,” you say under your breath, but he hears you clearly with his ear pressed to your chest.
“I was an idiot, I let my ego keep me from you,” he moves his head to look up at you, his brown eyes shine with sincerity.
“Don’t do this right now Reggie,: your eyes fill with tears, “Don’t do or say anything you don’t mean just to make me feel better.”
Reggie moves his right arm from around your waist to brush away a stray tear that slipped out of your eye. He moves his thumb down your cheek to your lips, tracing them with the pad of his thumb. Reggie lightly tugs down on your lower lip causing you to uncage it from your teeth, when did you even bite it in the first place?
“I love you (Y/N), I always have,” he looks away from your mouth so he can stare into your eyes. “And I think you have too.”
“I have, I love you so much Reggie,” he pulls your face down to meet him. The kiss is searing, and a little wet due to the tears leaking out of both of your eyes, but it’s perfect. You pull back when you get the slightly tangy taste of blood on your tongue. You immediately fuss over Reggie’s lip, said lip splitting again during the makeout. Reggie pulls you back down onto the bed and into his arms after you’ve dabbed at his lip with the cotton ball again.
“How can I make it up to you?” his eyes shine with unshed tears as he stares lovingly at your face, almost like he’s mesmerized by you. “Not just tonight, but leaving you for Ronnie so I could try to get over you, and for every other night you’ve taken care of me.”
“Just never leave me again,” you whimper, which is cut off when he kisses you again.
“Never,” Reggie’s never been more serious about anything in his life.
You cuddle up to Reggie’s chest, his warmth and scent quickly lulling you into  a deep comforting sleep. You don’t care that he should sneak out the window and go home, or that your mom will find you two cuddled up in your twisted sheets when she comes to check on you at ten. All you care about is Reggie being safe, in your arms, and finally having him back in your life-but with one vast improvement to your relationship.

Chapter One - Losing Game
Another Love Series Masterlist
Pairing: Regulus Black x Fem!Reader, Young!Remus Lupin x Fem!Reader
Song: Arcade - Duncan Laurence
Warnings: Tons of Angst, Major Character Deaths, Pregnancy(?), and I definitely altered the timeline!
Word Count: 1.76k
Masterlist
Author’s Note: This is pretty angsty and was based on this song (which has always given me massive Reggie vibes), and I HIGHLY recommend listening to it when reading this!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perhaps your love was doomed from the start. Maybe you were just another Shakesperian tale of forbidden romance destined to conclude in nothing but suffering. He was your light despite the darkness that had encompassed him his entire life and although the war was over, the pain still remained.
You had begged Regulus not to leave that night, tears blurring your vision as he explained that he had to be the one to destroy the horcrux. “There is no other way,” he had said, his voice shaky with the knowledge that this would likely be his end. You were young, too young, to be fighting this war. A battle that neither of you had any business being involved in the first place. Yet there you were, children who had grown up too quickly.
When he hadn’t returned the next morning, it hadn’t come as any surprise. You mourned the loss of your husband the minute he’d walked out that door. You weren’t vapid and neither was he, you were both well aware of what would happen in that cave. Whether or not Regulus succeeded, however, still remained to be seen.
The isolation following the death of Regulus Black was something you brought upon yourself. You couldn’t stand seeing muggles continuing to lead their lives as if nothing had happened. Your world crumbled out from beneath you as the universe became a much darker place, so why haven’t they stopped? A person - your person - had died, how could people continue to lead their normal lives?  We were still at war, how could they not sense that something was horribly wrong?
The loneliness made you ill after a month, so sick that you were constantly emptying the contents of your stomach into your toilet as you lay on the cool tile. What prompted you to eventually seek out another were the two little lines on the plastic test. Before long you had apparated to Godric’s hollow, the crisp snow of December crunching under your feet as you made your way up the steps of a quaint looking house. It felt much more homey than the Grimmauld flat you’d been residing in, a slight comfort that what laid behind the door you knocked on may be just as welcoming.
The face that answered the door was kind, warm eyes and a welcoming smile framed by ginger locks. You never spoke to her during your years at Hogwarts due to the two years she had on you, but you knew the girl to be Lily Evans. Judging by the slight furrowing of her brows she had recognized you as well, probably unsure as to why Regulus Black’s wife had shown up on her doorstep seemingly out of nowhere.
“Uhm, is Sirius Black here by any chance?” You asked quietly, your gloved hands rubbing your arms as you fought off the evening’s chill. She need not answer as a pair of brown orbs peered at you from behind her.
“What are you doing here, (Y/N)?” Sirius questioned, bitterness lacing his words as he took in your frail appearance. The elder Black did not think highly of his little brother - the Death Eater, or so he thought. Yet Regulus had relayed numerous stories from their childhood that revealed that in earlier years of their lives, the duo had been inseparable. You were just hoping that some of that affection still remained.
“Can we please talk? It’s about your brother.” You said, voice wavering as you shivered in the cold. Lily seemingly took notice of this and ushered you into the warmth of their home, closing the door behind you and leaving the in-laws to speak in the front entryway.
“If Regulus has something to say to me than the little shit can come tell me himself-”
“Sirius, what are you talking about?” You asked incredulously. “Regulus died two months ago.”
Sirius had not been speechless many times in his life, yet there he stood with his head reeling, heart broken, and tears slowly welling in his eyes. At the end of the day, Regulus would always be his baby brother. And in that silence he sat and listened, taking in all of what had happened the past year. From Regulus deciding to turn on Voldemort to the fateful night destroying his horcrux, Sirius felt both pride and guilt building underneath the grief. Regulus had been a good person who gave his life doing the right thing, all in belief of the same values that had gotten himself disowned.
When you mentioned the pregnancy, Sirius once again found himself dumbstruck. But that shock was quickly replaced with a sense of duty, it was as if he had the opportunity to make up for his brother’s broken relationship. He would help you raise this baby, and he would make damn sure that they did not have the same broken childhood he had suffered.
Within the week, Sirius had moved back into 12 Grimmauld Place with you. The baby he was dedicating himself to had quickly become babies after finding out that not one, but two baby Blacks were on the way. He was at your side through every step of the pregnancy, and slowly but surely his friends made their way into your life as well. James was always there to put a smile on your face and Lily gave great advice as to dealing with the pregnancy as she had delivered Harry only weeks before you showed up. Remus was always there to offer chocolate and a good book while Peter always had a hot cup of tea ready for you.
Before long, Arcturus and Cassiopeia Black were welcomed into the world and the light in your life had been restored. They were both the spitting image of their father, seeming to have barely inherited any (Y/L/N) genes and only reminded you of their father with every coming day. Little Harry was thrilled to have playmates, and you had finally found your family. Although far from perfect, it was everything to you. But all good things must come to an end, and this state of grace was no different.
Halloween came and went. James, Lily, and Peter were gone, no, murdered. Sirius could not have done it, not to his family! The man you read about in the papers was not the same gentle soul who would sing the twins to sleep almost every evening. But regardless of what you thought of the man he was guilty in the eyes of the Ministry, and thus he was sent to Azkaban to suffer a fate worse than death. This loss rocked you once more, but this time you had the twins to look after, and you weren’t alone.
Remus had stepped right up to fill the shoes that Sirius had been filling for Regulus without hesitation. He was grieving the same losses as you and found solace in caring for little Archie and Cassie. You mourned together and healed together, and before long Remus became your other half.
That friendship didn’t last long, however, as it eventually blossomed into something bigger, a love that you fought tooth and nail. Guilt consumed you as you felt yourself falling for the werewolf, not being able to shake the feeling that you were betraying Regulus as you fell deeper and deeper in love.
Right around the second anniversary of his death was when you heard the first words pass through either of the twins’ lips. Archie squealed a high-pitched “dada” to Remus who had been helping you prepare breakfast, and your eyes met his equally glassy. While the man stuttered out a mix of apologies in fear of overstepping, you just embraced him and allowed him to hold you in the way nobody had for a long time. The toddlers had accepted him as their father, and you had denied the desire to love him for too long.
Six months later the two of you had married in a small ceremony of only Order members gathering to celebrate your love. You did, however, keep the last name ‘Black’ as an homage both to Regulus and Sirius’ roles in both of your lives. At that same celebration you also announced that a baby Lupin would be making their way into the world six months later. And alas, Theodore Lupin was born shortly after, and your little family was complete.
When it was finally time for Archie and Cassie to begin their future at Hogwarts, you couldn’t help but weep as they waved out the window of the Hogwarts Express, the siblings excited to start the next stage in their lives. Your husband wrapped an arm around you as he fought tears himself, meanwhile Teddy tugged onto your hand and questioned when he would get the chance to attend the school as well, already missing his big brother and sister.
Remus and you had debated what house the twins would be sorted into, him adamant that they showed Gryffindor courage while you were certain that they would follow in your footsteps and be sorted into (Y/H). Your questions were answered the next morning as you received letters from two very excited Slytherins, taking after their father just as they had done in appearance and personality. You and Remus were proud nonetheless, but your husband was always saddened that they had never grown close to Harry. The divide between houses had seemingly grown even stronger since you two had attended and a friendship between the former friends hadn’t formed.
Two years later, the twins were approaching their third year as Teddy prepared to begin his magical schooling, and you began to ponder what your life would look like following their departure. You and your husband didn’t have the finances to travel and feared a life without the light of your children, and your questions were answered following a letter from Dumbledore himself. He offered the two of you teaching positions at Hogwarts, Defence Against the Dark Arts for Remus and Astronomy for yourself.
The two of you were ecstatic to spend the year with your children teaching, and walking side by side with the castle in view made you feel like a young girl again. A broken heart was all that was left, but Remus had been there to pick up your broken pieces and carry you home. But the wreckage of your life would not stay in ruins forever, as old friends and old loves remained closer than you had ever known and were about to rejoin your losing game.

Whoops, I slipped into a follow up of this prompt.
--
“How’s the wrist?”
Such an innocuous question. It rings flat in the sharp crags that line the chasm between them, echoing hollowly between them. But it’s still more than he’d said Saturday night. More than he thought he’d say.
Betty, never one to let any pain shine through, smiles at him. Her face morphs into that perfect Cooper mask, no crack or wrinkle to suggest anything was out of the ordinary. It pierces his soul to realize that he doesn’t know how to read her anymore.
To him, she looks just as happy and carefree as the first day they’d met in third grade.
“Still sore, but no lasting damage,” she says, rolling her wrist as proof. Even her voice is peppy and varnished to perfection. “How’s your head?”
His hand moves without thought to his forehead, his fingertips grazing the ugly red mess. Jughead jerks his head to the right, a move practiced in the mirror this morning to ensure his hair covered the welt.
“Nothing an aspirin can’t take care of,” he mutters.
He raises his coffee cup to his lips to keep from mentioning the whisky and rye he’d fallen headfirst into, a palliative cure after she’d disappeared up the stairs, leaving nothing but confusion and nadir in her wake. The lingering hangover was still a symphony of banging pots and pans along his temples, a never-ending reminder of his regret (relief?) of doing nothing.
They sip their coffee in silence, waiting for the meeting to begin. The artificial bridge he’d thrown across the chasm between them frays, its tethers loosening. In less than a minute, it’s fallen into the yawning black hole that now lies between them.
Betty's words… no. Not that. It was his inaction. His confusion. His uncertainty that created this false rift between them. The gravity of it tugging and pulling at every second between them, every atom, every conceivable future between them, each a warped, stretched snapshot of a future never to be.
It was enough to make him want to crawl back into the bottle and never come out again. His hand shakes, an aftereffect of the late night drinking, and he shoves it deep into his pocket. Betty’s eyebrows draw too close together, too close to concern for his tastes.
Toni claps her hands together, and Betty shoots him one last curious look. He refuses to look at her, turning to refill his mug. When he turns back around, Betty is in her usual seat next to Archie, a plastic smile on her face. Jughead slouches against the counter, too lost in his own morbid thoughts to pay much attention to the upcoming game to notice the increasingly concerned glances Betty sends his way.
Jughead watches as his students shuffle in, the twins he affectionately calls Bill and Ted the only two showing any trace of life. The bell rings, a clanging, offensive noise that makes everyone wince. It’s doubtful he’s the only one nursing a hangover.
“How many of you did the reading?” he asks when they settle in.
A collective groan ripples throughout the room. He can’t blame them; he’d never been able to finish The Odyssey in high school either.
“Pop quiz time,” he says.
Another groan, this time with a rousing argument against it, echoes through his already pounding head. Jughead holds his hands up in a conciliatory gesture.
“I want you to write about betrayal.”
The class quiets, some exchanging glances. It’s a sharp turn, a quick 180 that throws all off them off balance. Jughead has been ruthless so far, both in his grading and in his push to get them to learn critical thinking skills. Even he’s surprised at this course of action.
“Any kind of betrayal you can think of. You can talk about personal betrayal, family betrayal. Maybe one of your friends kissed your girlfriend, or maybe your mother chose your sister’s side over yours. Or maybe you write about a fictional betrayal. Hamlet and Ophelia, Brutus and Julius Caesar, Edward Pensieve and the Turkish delight.”
Wynnie’s hand shoots up, and Jughead inwardly winces. She’s always been the one to push back against any assignment, the one who questions everything he expects from them and makes class ten times longer.
“Can we write about a made up betrayal? With characters on, like, TV or something?”
Breathing a sigh of relief, he nods. “Anything is fair game, as long as you write it in a way that someone not familiar with the show, or book, or whatever, can understand what’s going on.”
“What about poetry?” another student asks.
“So long as you put the effort in, poetry is fine. Text threads, short stories, poems, letters, anything written.”
“Can we work together?” one of the twins asks.
“Sure, as long as you don’t bother the other students,” Jughead says with a shrug.
Bill and Ted high five before dragging their desks together.
Jughead is surprised at how well they’re taking this assignment. Every last thing has been a fight with them, from getting their attention to taking a test. Betrayal, though, seems to be something everyone can relate to.
As the class begins to write, Jughead sits down at his own desk. For a moment, he watches his students, kids in the same position he was once in, and wonders why he’s even here. Riverdale offered him little more than characters he could mold into his own, a setting for the decline of small town America.
Today, though, his mind wanders along words and phrases, glimpses into a different sort of reality. One ravaged by decay and rot, left to perish alone. And yet, he can’t help but see the small, green shoots of the future poke out of the ashes, tiny hints of hope for what’s to come. Perhaps nothing is ever static and unchanging. Perhaps things can turn around.
Jughead reaches into his bag for his own blank notebook.
He’s sitting on the porch that afternoon, struggling with the illegibly written translation. It’s a shame the state requires them to teach only the recommended books; Jughead would love to see how the story unfolds when thrown onto a fire.
“Hey.”
Jughead starts. When he sees it’s only Betty (only?), he stands abruptly, his entire body on fire, his legs jittery and ready to run.
“Hey,” he repeats. “Archie’s not here, but –“
Betty shakes her head and shoves her hands into the pockets of her jacket. “Can we talk?”
He swallows. Stupid of him to think he’d get away from this conversation. Jughead waves to the chair next to him. As Betty passes, her perfume tickles his nose. Long gone is the strawberry body spray she used in high school, a sweet, cloying smell. Now it’s a perfume, one that tickles his nose and clogs his sinuses.
They sit there quietly, neither willing to speak first. He’s lost for words, unable to start.
She sits patiently, calmly. Betty seems as if she hasn’t a care in the world, as if they were there to talk about the weather. Part of her training, he realizes. She’s no longer as impulsive as she once was, reaching and grasping and desperate for an immediate answer. This Betty Cooper is a reminder of the past, but only that.
“I’m sorry,” he manages, starting with the simplest of things.
Next to him, Betty shifts. He thinks he hears her sniffle (crying? allergies? derision at his lame start?), and he has to quash his immediately reaction. All he wants to do is reach out to her, to comfort her, to promise her the world to keep her from suffering.
But he’d done that before, long ago, in a completely different world. And he’d been trod upon, brushed aside in favor of her own cruel form of betrayal. Nothing he could have done after would have fixed the wound she’d carved in his soul. Even now, seven years distanced from the teenage woes, it lay between them, still raw and sore and bleeding from the continued betrayals of his life.
He wonders how he would have responded to her if he hadn’t known. If he hadn’t come home one night early to hear her and Archie upstairs. If he hadn’t turned to the Wyrm and listened to Sweet Peas acidic sniping just to get lost among the agave pinas and the juniper berries.
“It’s not,” he stutters, trying to find his footing, unsure of what he wants to say. “I couldn’t stop loving the Betty Cooper I knew. But I also never stopped hating what she did to me.”
The admission is the first emotionally honest thing he’s said in years. It’s painful to realize how deep it lay inside him, how long it took to finally cut out this festering, putrid thing that burrowed into him. Like a tumor, it could only grow, fed by hate and anger and depression. Hate and anger for both of them. It hadn’t turned out like it was supposed to.
Now that it lay out in the open between them, he felt different. Heavier, in some ways. But there was also a release. The pressure that had been building for so long was slowly lowering, as if he’d finally found the valve that would bring things back to normal.
“And I don’t know you,” he said, the words pouring out now. “Seven years, and only a handful of texts, a few voicemails. You’re not the person I remember. Hell, everyone is different from who they were, who I thought they were.”
He pauses to run a hand through his hair. He can feel Betty’s bright eyes staring at him, pleading with him for something, anything, that will make this better.
“We’re both different now, and there’s no way you can still love me. You don’t know me, you know who I was. We can’t just pick up where we left off, even if we wanted to. There’s too much between… Even if we were stupid enough to try,” he trails off, his words meandering as they try to find footing in the rocky space between them.
“We didn’t leave things in a good place,” Betty murmurs in agreement.
She shifts, and he looks at her for the first time since they sat down. Her legs are tucked up against her body, arms wrapped around them. It’s a protective stance. Against him, perhaps, or against the bare truth that he’s put in the open. He can’t blame her, not since he’s protected himself against most of his own life in other, less healthy ways.
Jughead sighs, empty of anything else to say. He stares at the fading light glowing through the leaves. It’s the perfect, picturesque scene of two high school sweethearts reuniting. At least, it was supposed to be. He didn’t know if he ever could do that to himself again.
Archie’s old truck chugs up the street, and Jughead stands. He scrapes the palms of his free hand along his pants, the other hand gripping his book. Archie waves through the windshield with a bright grin, and Jughead gives a half-hearted wave back before going inside.
He’s exhausted; after being mad for so long, it’s strange to be so empty of feeling. He’d give the world to be able to retreat back to Alphabet City and it’s various loan sharks. There, at least, he’d know the pain was no one’s fault but his own.
Jughead closes the bedroom door behind him, shutting out the rest of the world. It wasn’t his business what Betty did despite her attempts to bring him back into her life. He didn’t know if he was ready for that, or if he’d ever be. Ever since he’d been back, her presence gnaws at him, chipping away at the walls he’d built up over the years against her presence, and it frightens him that she’s stepped back into his thoughts so quickly and easily.
Thoughts and ideas collide and churn violently in his head. He throws himself down on his bed, determined to fall asleep despite the chaos.
But this time, sleep doesn’t come as easily as it always has. Words and feelings and phrases splatter against the back of his eyelids, graffiti tattooing images of a world never known. He pushes back against the cacophony until he can stand it no longer. Desperate to empty his thoughts, Jughead turns on the bedside lamp, pulls his laptop out from under the bed, and begins to write more than he’s been able to for years.

please tell us about your riverdale ocs if you feel comfortable doing so, i have the sense that they'll be fun
okay so for context here are the relationships at play. jughead/archie/tabitha/veronica are in a fourple (ik the word is polycule shut up). reggie and sweet pea are divorced because sweet pea decided to run off with josie. him and reggie are on good terms though. betty is in a committed relationship with murder. cheryl is in a committed relationship with witchcraft. toni and fangs are happily married. and kevin.
all of the ocs and their brief backstories/personality descriptions will be listed below the cut. I share these ocs with @greatkateweathermachine btw :)
Tina - biologically she's the varchie kid, although all four members of jabronchie raised her. she's the oldest of the group aside from baby anthony, and honestly she's relatively normal. she's a quiet girl with a big heart and she's a little nerdy. she leaves riverdale once she goes to college and even though she does visit, she has no plans of moving back.
Riley - riley is biologically the jabitha kid (again raised by all of jabronchie), and she's about eight years younger than tina. she's essentially the worst parts of all her parents combined. she's reckless and absolutely off the shits and has a taste for arson. her hair is permanently dyed kool-aid blue and she's a lesbian. she's dating jessica and her two best friends are cameron and april.
Greg - he's the first of sweet pea's and reggie's and while he's a little bit of a dumb jock stereotype he's pretty nice. he's a year older than riley and he's exes with jessica, which riley loves to make fun of him for.
Cameron - he's the second of reggie's and sweet pea's kids, and he's a year younger than greg (the same age as riley). he's best friends with riley, jessica, and april, and chronically unable to say no to any of their insane ideas. he helped riley light off fireworks in the girl's bathroom one time.
April - april just kind of showed up on betty's doorstep one day. she's similar to charles in the sense that she appears normal at first glance but in reality she has a taste for blood. she's also a little unsettling because she speaks in a very monotone way. she's about a year younger than cameron and riley.
Fangs Jr. - he's toni's and fangs's second kid, and about three years younger than baby anthony. he doesn't have too much going on. he's essentially exactly like fangs but yk. younger.
Gonzo - he's toni's and fangs's third kid. his real name is ethan, but in true serpent fashion he decided to change it to the stupidest nickname you've ever heard. he's very nice and a little weird, but mostly nice. he's the same age as riley and cameron.
Chrysanthemum (Chryssy) and Petunia - these are cheryl's nightmare children. they're about a year younger than tina and baby anthony, and they're the creepiest pair of twins you've ever seen. cheryl spent forever looking for a set of redheaded girls and chryssy and petunia are like the perfect match for her. they're practically inseparable and they fit cheryl's brand of bitchy white girl to a t. just. much creepier.
Jessica - (she was named before jughead's ex was introduced don't yell at me). she's not a kid of any of the main rvd characters. instead, she has normal parents, she's just weird as hell anyway. she's pretty reckless and a little unhinged, although significantly more subdued than riley is (low bar). jughead kind of hates her based on the name alone, but she and riley are endgame so he'll have to learn to cope.
Those are all the ocs we have so far!! I'd love to talk more about them if anybody is interested, and I have a short fic written about riley and jughead already. tysm for the ask!! I'm so glad I finally got to introduce these characters here
