azul -> jamil: think pre-book 4 incident where azul's had an eye on jamil for a very long time. if anything he has the big ginormous stalker crush. but honestly its not full on crush territory (yet) because jamil refuses to talk to him and he hasn't interacted extensively with the other. however does think there is something going on with jamil avoiding him and relentlessly pursues him in response

scarab -> léopard: scarab just instinctively works better with léopard by his side. there's sort of an implicit trust between the both of them that the other is fully capable of whatever they set out to do which is. really nice. and they rely on each other in the heat of battle which is strange because scarab's ego means he often takes a lot of shit on himself under the idea that he's the only one who can do it. but also léopard is just an enigma to him because they'll work so well in battle but out of battle léopard's constant flirting gives scarab a headache... but it's also kind of flattering. in a way. because léopard is constantly Looking for him and shows a lot of interest in who he is as a person which doesn't happen a lot for scarab in his civilian form

léopard -> scarab: léopard is a mercenary which means that he's not partners with scarab. he just happens to "run into" the other "by coincidence" (not coincidence) and you know. he's so benevolent. why not help scarab out with the akuma. he is charmed by how much scarab is NOT like a hero. scarab thinks like a villain and is unafraid to use and manipulate others in order to accomplish his goals. but the end result is perceived as heroic of him. léopard wants him so bad for this it is fucking CRAZY he thinks scarab's capabilities and range are so attractive and will constantly make passes at him whenever they cross paths

jamil -> léopard: from jamil's experiences with léopard as scarab, jamil finds that léopard may actually be tolerable when he's not flirting constantly. jamil's still not keen on letting this guy save him from akumas (because jamil is scarab and by god if léopard ever finds out he saved scarab in civilian form he's going to be so full of himself) but he trusts léopard and is willing to let his snarkier side show, more than he usually does when he's jamil

léopard -> jamil: léopard is ecstatic at the fact that jamil is actually talking to him. yes it might take a whole other secret identity and a leather bodysuit to do so but. you know. a win is a win. uses his position as léopard to pry for more info from jamil, but it's always a push/pull back and forth where jamil seems to tolerate and even occasionally be amused by hus presence but will shut him down once he gets too close. his infatuation with the other in civilian form is fed by these small interactions he has with the other that shows there's more to jamil that meets the eye

azul -> scarab: azul is scarab's biggest supporter. naturally. praises the superhero's diligence and duty to the city loudly and vocally to anybody who will listen, and wants to get scarab involved in his future business ventures. may intentionally put himself in situations where the other will come save him so he can entrap the other into talking with him in civilian form to see if he can get any more clues into scarab's identity. also desperately tries to impress scarab when unable to transform with the skills he learned from being léopard.

scarab -> azul: scarab, drawing off his experiences as jamil, finds azul's persistence a little daunting and definitely a danger to his secret identity. however it's also odd to see a second side to azul pop out when he's trying to impress scarab. almost cute. if he didn't fail so much at it. gets scarab reconsidering his civilian form's thoughts on azul because azul somehow seems Less fake or. worse at being fake whenever jamil is scarab.

Okay time to get sappy a week after the finale LMAOO

As always, The Tag is my favorite part of the season and if we get good feeds along with it? A feast. And a majority of this season was like that, and I shall highlight some of my favorite memories from throughout the season and the tag that I will always be thinking about in years to come

- This is the funniest one for me, but us being locked out of the tag during reilly’s eviction and how we discovered that just minutes before the episode started, but that didn’t stop us from live blogging anyway LMAOO.

- And then they had the AUDACITY to announce the pressure cooker was finally coming back the following week and we couldn’t even properly celebrate together so we were all just screaming into the void😭 (or the nether region lol)

- That random vegan person who dropped the season bc Felicia asked for real butter lmao??

- Omg that chipmunk account we all thought was ohthecleverness and y’all called it the squeakuel and i think this person vanished from the tag

- GOING BACK TO THE PRESSURE COOKER, THE FEEDS THAT NIGHT??? Immaculate.

This has been the most active I’ve been in the tag thus far and with a season this all over place, it was a trip. But, truthfully, I’d do it again. YOURE FINE DW I LOVE TALKING ABT THEM!!!! i think that, like i've mentioned, adam is probably one of jonah's only friends and the only person that can 'tolerate' him. i feel like jonah probably wants more friendships but he's kind of scared to initiate them. every time he tried to be friends with someone in the past he was either forced into it, they weren't who they seemed, they lost contact, or something happened and he just couldn't bear to be around them anymore. at first he kept adam at arm's length until he realized 'ooh this guy is just as fucked up as i am' and decided hes gonna attach himself to adam like a barnacle until he tells him to fuck off. like adam just straight up told him everything so he knows what to expect, if this friendship crashes and burns, he feels no responsibility for letting it happen. but it doesn't happen, and for 2 whole years he has the most stable friendship hes had since elementary school or some shit. which he thinks is pretty pathetic but hey. he'll take what he can get at this point.

and on adam's side, he wants a solid friendship but he just seems to hurt anyone he gets close to and although he won't admit it, he feels REALLY guilty about it. he genuinely believes he is irredeemable, so he just stops trying at some point. i think that he feels like an empty husk most of the time and he is desperate to have a meaningful relationship with someone, but he also doesn't want to allow himself to have one. so he hides it. and then jonah just tears down all his walls and refuses to leave. and at first adam is kind of furious. he's trying so hard not to make the same mistakes and jonah is ruining his plan and he lashes out and. jonah doesn't even blink. because no matter what terrible shit adam could tell him, jonah already knows all of it. he knows he's pathetic and lazy and irresponsible and a million other things because the inside of his head is like. a constant 24/7 loop of self-loathing. and, like adam, hes just kind of accepted that maybe he is a shitty person, but doesn't mean he cant have fun with it. so adam finally lets himself have a friend. even if he's not even really sure if that's something he can really do, he's willing to at least humor jonah.

and its fantastic. they shoplift and run from the police and climb fences and fall off of fences and go to the er for broken bones. they eat stolen pizza out of the trunks of stolen cars. they fight over which radio station theyre going to play to the point that they have to pull over to avoid getting into a car crash. they scrape together what little money they have to get high on the worst strains of weed that are probably laced with something bc adam's face is melting and jonah is overcome with a primal, heart pounding terror but its pretty funny. and they both feel alive. jonah feels like he isn't running from himself anymore, and adam doesn't feel like he's walking on eggshells waiting to make a mistake that sends everything crashing down. and even though adam never says it, jonah knows he's having fun, and that's all that really matters at the end of the day. and, yeah, they have a LOT of issues but. i think if they were given the chance they would have been able to work through them.

basically. they are like edgy dollar store team rocket but they don't even have a meowth. or maybe its more accurate to say like. team dark from sonic but i don't really know enough abt sonic to say that. like the snapcube sonic dubs version of team dark. u get what im saying. not romantic, not platonic, not found family, but a secret 4th thing (wanted by the FBI).

Either Sorreltail x Brambleclaw hypokits or Squirrelflight x Rainwhisker?

Those are some interesting choices for ships..I've actually seen the bramble sorrel ship before funnily enough via a rewrite fanfic on deviant art I found ages ago. Rain x squirrel is completely new to me though.

Also fun fact for those of you who didn't know..bramblestar and Sorreltail are actually based on cherith baldrys real kitties Bramble and Sorrel..which was always super precious to me.

I think Brambs and Squilf never ended up dating in this universe. They still care for each other and the whole conflict with hawkfrost still happens but just plays out like watching your friend falling in with a bad crowd instead of what happened in the text.

Brambleclaw eventually forms a relationship with Sorreltail, having bonded briefly while they were both still apprentices and eventually reconnect upon arriving at the lake territories. He ends up training in the dark forest but only stays to try and look out for hawkfrost (which...doesn't work) and for the sake of time most things in canon stay the same aside from minor differences and motivation.

Their kits names are Stormkit(white tom) Wildkit(golden tiger striped she-cat) and Tawnykit(dark brown tom with light undertones)

Rainwhisker and Squirrelflight is a bit more tricky since..I don't know a whole lot about Rainwhisker tbh, his sister was always more of an interesting character to me. Its kinda fun to speculate however.

Squilf and Rain get together when Squirrelflight breaks up with Ashfur. At first they're just fake dating since Rainwhisker saw how creepy Ashfur was being and pretended to be her boyfriend so she would be more comfortable. Eventually though feelings blossom and soon enough Squilf has Rain padding after her like a lost puppy dog.

For awhile they raise the three together (Squirrelflight still has to lie to Rainwhisker about their parentage bc star clan sucks) and while the three are apprentices Squirrelflight becomes pregnant with Rainwhisker's kits and while she's excited she's also feeling conflicted because well..she was supposed to be barren. Yellowfang has to come down to awkwardly apologize to her for that like in canon, just a lot sooner than usual.

They only have one fluffy she-kit named Willowkit, but the couple couldn't be happier with her (besides, it would be a nice break than when they were raising three rambunctious kittens) You can't see her eyes here but I imagine she has some bright blue peepers under all that fluff. Since the story stuff is getting too long already, I'll move on to the kits personalities and warrior names:

Stormkit was a rather sickly kitten, and was confined to the nursery most of the time. His growth was a bit stunted due to his illness so he never got to be as big as his siblings. It took a long time for him to actually leave the nursery once his apprentice ceremony came since he was scared of everyone and everything. His mentor is Thornclaw, and while training with him he slowly becomes more confident and brash. He uses his relatively light frame to his advantage in battle, taking many cats off guard with his ferocity. His warrior name will be Stormstrike.

Wildkit was the biggest kitten and remained the largest throughout her entire life. She was a big daddies girl growing up. Alhough she also loved her mother, it was easier to get Brambleclaw agree to her whims. A bit spoiled from this, she was a bit of bully as an apprentice before her mentor Sandstorm made it clear she wouldn't tolerate that attitude anymore. She becomes humble and more reserved as she grows older, but never truly lost her competitive streak and constantly pushed herself to be better. Her warrior name will be Wildheart.

Tawnykit wasn't as big as Wildkit, but that didn't stop him from sparring with her. The two siblings always had a rivalry with each other even at a young age, often frightening poor Stormkit with their scuffles. He never seemed to be able to beat his sister in anything though, which frustrated the young tom. It wasn't until his mentor, Brackenfur, introduced him to different ways of fighting and new skills that could benefit the clan without the need for claws. Having found a new passion, Tawnypaw stopped comparing himself so much and appreciated his own talents that he brought to Thunderclan. His warrior name will be Tawnybrush.

Willowkit is a quiet, reflective kitten, and that didn't change very much as she grew up. She'll often stop and pause to appreciate the little details in life, which annoys her clanmates. Her mentor, Brightheart, was able to get Willowpaw to open up more and became someone Willowpaw could bounce ideas off of. In return for listening to Willowpaw, Brightheart would ask Willowpaw to perform a task for her, which she happily did without complaint. On the outside it may seem like not much has changed at all, but once you get Willowpaw talking its like she turns into a completely different cat. Her warrior name will be Willowsong.

Why I'm quitting my job that I'm now 8 months into.

For about a week now, I've been having some self revelations. Or rather I should say some self re-discoveries (I'll go more into that later). For now, I'll describe all the straws singularly being plucked one by one, aka small things that drive me crazy.

Just to get right into it: my coworkers are extremely ignorant. The first day I was getting trained, the person training me already made racist jokes, calling black people "basketball Americans" and how "he's sick of them. they're so loud, and they smell like weed". That genuinely bothered me to my core.

Another thing, a lot of them are sexist. The men there complain about their wives. Genuinely grosses me out.

The manager and one of the female coworkers (who has a boyfriend btw) very obviously have a thing going on. All of my other coworkers mention how its weird, yet nobody is reporting it? In fact, the female coworkers sister is protecting the manager. A customer is aware of this situation (granted hes a piece of shit too. this customer harassed me, however I wish he actually called HR and reported it) and he made the joke that he'd all HR. Thats when my manager was warned about that by the sister. Im just sick of this. To make matters worse, that coworker called her boyfriend stupid for not picking up on what's happening. She would tell him about the gifts that her manager would give her, and he'd say how he's happy for her because that has to mean something positive about her work ethic, or how much the manager respects her, etc. she legit was like "bro you're so stupid lmfao" EVEN WORSE. Women would come up to her and ask her if she's single because they want to introduce her to someone they know. Her answer? "Well.. I'm not married... We can talk about it later!"

Today, I was ringing up these two customers. A dude, and what I can only assume to be a trans woman, either that or a masculine person dressing femininely (I'm describing that specifically bc its a relevant detail) and my male coworker legitimately asked "........is that a man. Is that a man in a skirt." First of all, we legit have a trans coworker so he's not actually stupid, he's being willingly ignorant. And secondly, asking me that as if this is some crazy thing to see like this is the wild or something is actually, well, wild.

Now, I'll be revisiting what I meant by "self re-discovery".

I noticed I've been growing tolerant towards certain things that, in actuality, I cannot stand. They drain me.

People like my co-workers, and people like the customers there, are the exact opposite of me. I miss community. I miss the times when I could walk into a building, a place and talk to people who I agree with, who I can talk about my hobbies with, who I can talk about my passions with. At work, I cant do that. My coworkers are- for a lack of the better phrase- too normal. Like... overwhelmingly normal. A lot of them don't have time for themselves, so their lives are filled with complaining about their car, or their kid, or about their day job. Constantly talking about sports. Constantly talking about becoming a pilot when they're older, or wanting to work at a golf course......... like, what? I cannot relate in the SLIGHEST to that.

When I walk into that building, I feel the loneliest. At first, it was fine, I could laugh with them at a distance, but then I re-discovered that I'm the type of person to be extremely bothered with stuff over time. I re-discovered that Im simply an intolerant person towards, well, intolerant people. Why be a shit human? My goal in life is to surround myself with people who are good for me. My goal is to surround myself with others who I wont constantly look for red flags in.

To close this out, I want to say that I most likely will be quitting in the span of 3 months. I'll be writing my 2 weeks notice soon.

And, if anyone needed to hear it, I just want you to know that ANY reason is a good reason to leave your job. Your employer is owed NOTHING. Leaving and not giving them your time is your right. I don't care if they end up under staffed, and you shouldn't either. That is not my responsibility, and it isn't yours!

i see hyth’s two sides of wanting to enjoy all life has to offer (his own words) and his amaurotine values of wanting to put service to the star above one’s self to some extent clashing when he dates azem muses because while he’s very soft and incredibly clingy, he doesn’t want to express the pain he feels pining for them and missing them while they’re busy/away. he feels he has to be a manic pixie dream girl i guess as well as the perfect friend, he can’t burden them (especially since they’re already dealing with a lot of shit bc of their duties!) with his own feelings because he has put it upon himself to be their confidant and their source of comfort. he feels it is his place to give and give endlessly, without ever taking anything in return. his feelings of “haha pls dont let go of my hand, ever” are something he also feels immense guilt about because its fundamentally selfish and whimsical and he feels he should know better. also, despite being fairly naive and inexperienced romantically, he also realizes that he’s been right to fear/avoid getting romantically involved with anybody because yes, just as he’s feared and suspected, real romance and love is a hell of a lot messier and more painful than his novels could ever possibly convey. and i think this applies to emet too to some extent.

in the past, he ‘took’ from macarenses and that drove her away from him, causing her to grow tired of this and lash out. she kind of has more of an edge (and this to say that hyth lacks an edge, because he absolutely has one, it’s just that his is a hell of a lot more insidious and subtle, manifesting through cunning and artful manipulation,) whereas macarenses’s edge is of a different sort; the kind that involves lashing out, which is almost inevitably something she does to either azem or emet (depending on the verse and whether or not we’re shipping) since she, more than anybody else, is privy to hyth’s feelings and his pain, regardless of how well he hides it. she’s the only person who can read hyth perfectly 100% of the time. and she would VERY much resent azem and emet for dating him when she knows her little brother is clingy, needy, and how his needs are (in her eyes) compatible with individuals who have government jobs that require them to be away or busy most of the time. as lauded and celebrated as they are, being members of the convocation, she would expect them to be responsible enough not to engage in romance with him in order to spare him this pain. subjecting hyth to pain is an unforgivable crime in her eyes, especially if you are one of his 'betters’ so to speak. she’d do her utmost to tolerate this up to a point, which would eventually boil over and result in her attacking either azem or emet, explaining to them at the other end of her axe in heated tones how they got here. i do think she is apprehended by pashtarot and his words, and essentially restrained/put in something that serves as a loose equivalent of prison before being rehabilitated and joining the words of pashtarot, since her lashing out would be understood to be a product of her not having an outlet as chief of the bureau of the secretary and her inherently protective nature and strong, almost blind sense of justice. (this also plays back into the twins’ weird codepency on each other. hyth cannot stay out of macarenses’s business as much as she cannot stay out of his. and at the end of the day, whether or not he wants the weather the pain and longing of missing his preoccupied partner(s) is HIS CHOICE to make, and not hers. so basically, it ends up being a reverse of what happened when hyth was too clingy in his youth which led to maca leaving his ass for many years and refusing to speak to him.

For the nonnie that was curious about why I don’t like Bernadetta (Marianne will be in another post because this one is pretty long):

I actually suffer from the exact same condition she does and have been diagnosed for agoraphobia. Unfortunately it turns out IS does in fact not know how to write people who are afraid to leave their rooms/houses and makes it seem like we just can't so much as have a conversation with people in person or have to do so from behind a door. People like me can leave our rooms and go out and shit - it's just extremely anxiety ridden.

My biggest issue with Bernadetta is that she's played explicitly for laughs and there's little to no actual tackling of her issues. She screams and runs off because lol funnies, but she also never listens to what anyone says to her and immediately starts insulting herself while ignoring the entire conversation. The thing is, if she were real, I wouldn't even be able to tell her she's wrong about herself because no, she's the most annoying thing on the planet and I found myself agreeing with EdeIgard in their C and B supports when EdeIgard was basically like ffs woman just stfu and actually listen to the conversation instead of making up what's happening.

The whole screaming and running away constantly would need to be removed completely for me to even consider the rest of her character (which is also pretty bland, but when she actually learns how to hold a conversation she's somewhat tolerable). No amount of "oh no Bernie now everyone hates you" is gonna make me like her. In fact, it's true I do hate her because she constantly puts herself down in that specific way, and well... when people do that irl, it's literal manipulation. People want you to say the opposite of the bad things. If that were me, I'd immediately just say yeah, you know what, everyone does hate you because you say shit like that constantly and can't hold a single conversation because uwu your dad was mean to you.

I didn't have the best relationship with my own dad some years ago, and sometimes it was really bad. Neither of us could even hold a conversation because whenever he said anything to me it was some jab at me, and that was during severe mental illness for me. He's learning how mental illness works now, but my relationship with him and somewhat my mom, like Bernadetta, wasn't really good. We were extremely dysfunctional. That didn't make me hide away from every single conversation from all other people though, and her entire character is excessive and beyond unrealistic. Part of it is also the whole "oh no me and my dad had a bad relationship, now I'm going to scream and run away from everyone ever except the avatar character so people can self insert their love for me". zzzzz i sleep

In my opinion too, as someone who suffers from the exact same mental illness, it's actually pretty insulting. The only conversation I have any memory of being able to even remotely tolerate was her and Dorothea's B support. The thing is, she has a story... but it's completely overshadowed by idiocy and the writers being like "lol this must be what agoraphobia is like amirite".

She needs better development and a better delivery of what her story actually is. All her interactions, every single one, are exactly the same. Every. Single. One. Screams, runs away. Does so until the last support with the respective characters and has miniscule growth. Does not have any varied conversations and every single one takes the same outline and hurls back up the same exact thing that happened in the other support. Let me tell you, Fates was infamous for that and my feelings on its supports stand. Bernadetta was like super bad Fates writing on crack, and that's... uh... that's a new low for FE writing lol. Fates had bad writing to begin with.

I know it's also the fact that they took social anxiety and tried it to make it lol funnies bc lol ppl can relate, but like... people who genuinely have that very real issue do not behave like that and to me, it's not funny. It's not cute and "uwu I just want to protect her." It's just extremely annoying and irritating and in fact, I just want to slap her square in the face and tell her to never open her mouth again because HOOEE. There's a big difference between having a mental illness and being outright annoying to everyone you speak to, and having a mental illness doesn't excuse particular socially damaging (to others) behaviors.

Like... I hate her with a fiery hot burning passion when I actually think about the way they handled her in Houses. She's pretty barely above Edelgard in that sense.

As far as more on why I don’t like her, I did mention a lot of it in these posts which explained why the topic itself is so problematic in how it was written.

Hopes:

Regarding Hopes, they actually did remove some of that nonsense as far as the main story. She was quieter and could handle being out in the war (at least while having Ferdinand at her side which yes, that can be realistic! Having a friend with you when you have to go out and you're anxious to go out can really help). Her supports are still absolute trash and should be in the dumpster instead of all the useful things you can find dumpster diving in business' dumpsters, but the main story severely toned down the bullshit.

Her supports are still infuriating (besides with Marianne), but luckily she doesn't have as many in Hopes since supports were less of a feature in the game overall. They were better... somewhat... but not great. Her support with Marianne is essentially the character we should have gotten as her whole character when she associates with anyone at all, because just because she had a rocky relationship with her dad doesn't mean she should look at every single human being ever and fear the things she feared from her dad. What happened with her and her dad doesn't mean everyone is her dad and she should realistically know that. Even if she has a hard time coming out of her shell, she should still do that, slowly learning about people but quickly realizing, based on the amount of people she can meet in GM, that nobody is like her dad.

Ironically the C and B supports she had with EdeIgard were pretty much me letting my emotions out somewhat through EdeIgard lol.

Like you said, the writers handle Bernadetta like a joke character and tbh, I'm frankly disgusted by her popularity as someone who now has to acknowledge that the fandom at large treats my mental illness and anxiety as a lol funny joke. It's crippling and it's why I can barely function outside of my house, and it's certainly not something to laugh about when it causes struggles getting a job because most jobs are, and have been entirely until recently, jobs that you had to leave home to get to. Even online/office jobs were in a location outside of one's home. The fact that the fandom completely feeds into this joke writing means they enjoy it and have only proved the writers correct that anxiety is a joke worth laughing at if you struggle to leave your house.

The representation part of it:

In other words, when anxiety gets that bad, it can be played for laughs and people will enjoy it in media. The problem with that is exactly the same as older media concerns, like showing deeply autistic characters (ex. ones who have warped facial features due to their autism) and shaming them for "being ugly" or otherwise facially abnormal. Another example, media's habit of fat shaming and making fat characters to have them be a fat joke. Berandetta is exactly those things, just with another skin of socially abnormal and neurodivergent behavior being laughed at because it's not "socially normal or acceptable irl".

A perfect example would be unfortunately the Naruto series, that I grew up loving but recently looked back on and saw that a good chunk of it was nothing but cringe. There are literally fat jokes that are so bad in the sequel series, Boruto, that an overweight character literally insults herself with the fat jokes and it’s written to be humor. It's... bad. Bernadetta is literally that, possibly even in a more extreme way.

There’s also the fact that, like I mentioned in one of the linked posts, they give her the very strange interest of “weird plants”, as if to imply they believe shut ins are and do strange things that most people would gawk at, when no, we actually do normal things everyone else does.

I’ve been struggling with this anxiety in a severe way for over five straight years. It’s not funny and we don’t do unusual, abnormal things or have “weird” interests. We also don’t scream and run away from people trying to have a simple, friendly conversation with us. Her self depricating is also ridiculous and we don’t do that out in the open. People like myself tend to only speak to individuals we really trust about those insecurities. While we do have a hard time having any confidence, we don’t just blurt it out and scream it in front of someone mid-conversation. Like I said, people who do that irl are doing it for attention and to get compliments. Having her do that is a very bad look on people who actually have this illness.

Like, I know it seems like I’m making a Big Deal about it, but to me this is no different than people seeing fat jokes played for laughs, or having the token black character who is often the butt of jokes or even just there for the creator(s) to say “there’s a black character so you can’t say we didn’t do it”. It feels like it was just forced in because “it was the new trend online”.

The problem is that people actually ate it up and were happy with “representation”, even if that representation was actually insulting and extremely left field from what the representation is supposed to be like. When creators see incorrect interpretation being lauded as awesome and great, they won’t care if it was well done or not because it sold well and people expressed love for it. Those people not caring about how accurate the representation is is exactly the group of people who are hurting those of us who are trying to get others, and media, to understand that we don’t want that and yes, we want representation, but not for it to be so off par that it’s not even representing at all at that point.

Basically they made both a horribly annoying character and a total failure of a soecial anxiety representation. Like, I don’t even hate Micaiah to this extent and she used to be my most hated FE character until uwugard and Bernadetta happened.

Sorry for the wall of text in your inbox but your last DE post got me thinking and like. We don’t get an absolute ton of info about what Kim was like before the events of the game but it feels to me that by the start of it he’s tried to mask any and all of his actual opinions and feelings behind a veneer of indifference/objectivity. (How successful he is is up for debate) and I definitely think that at the start of the game the only reason he tolerates Harry is because he’s expected to work with him. He brushes off your self-deprecation and ignores your faults because he wants to get the case done. If you’re doing a run where you’re an asshole he’ll still begrudgingly stick by you until the very end unless he’s physically taken out of the picture because he feels like that’s his job. However if you take the time to befriend him I think it does change. He starts to open up a bit more, it becomes less of “I have your back because this case and wider cop culture obligate me to” and more “I’ll stick by your side because I want to, because I care about you.” and for both of them it can become the most genuine connection to another person they’ve felt in a long time. Like don’t get me wrong I think you’re absolutely correct that the only reason this could happen in the first place, the reason you’re given that chance at all, is because at the start Kim feels like he has to tolerate you. But I do think (or at least like to think) that if you do go the route of having Harry start trying to be a better person, the city and its community impart itself and it’s love on both of them. There’s something there about how the friendship they foster is founded on and expanded through the genuine humanity they see in Martinaise over the course of the game. That the only reason they are able to have a genuine connection (that’s not just a sense of obligation) is because Martinaise is a city that’s been all but abandoned by the police state and doesn’t adhere to the status-quo they’re familiar with. It’s true that the post-game outcome is most likely tragic. That despite this being the case, they’re never able to recognize it and never break free of being cops. But I also think it’s interesting to explore other, more hopeful routes. I think this game can be extremely pessimistic, but there’s a fragile optimism it has woven in it’s core. And I like the idea that this relationship, only started out of a sense of obligation and adherence to the status quo, is also the very thing that drags them out of it. (I apologize if this reads as word salad I have a lot of thoughts and don’t know how accurately I’ve conveyed them here)

UR GOOD SJSHDJDH when it comes to DE all I have is word salad… but yeah, I agree w all this, that’s kind of what I was getting at abt how their friendship would never happen if Harry wasn’t a cop bc Kim wouldn’t be able to turn a blind eye to some of his… antics… whereas within the force it’s customary to do so, esp for someone like Harry who’s considered a “good cop.” If he weren’t a cop, he’d be considered as much of a public nuisance as Leslie and Burke, if not even worse than them 💀 And then there’s that moment of Kim admitting to Harry genuinely that he’s considering doing speed to improve his job performance like… jdxgsjcb man. Idk. Cops. 😔

I do think it’s good to explore hopeful routes for them to change, ig for me the thought that interests me more is less whether it’s possible and more what would it take for them to get there. The fact that the player doesn’t have an option to quit being a cop does not bode well (neither does the fact that one of the endings involves recruiting Cuno… eugh) but who knows, as someone else pointed out it’s implied that there’s massive upheaval just on the horizon and they’re not gonna be able to sit on the fence anymore for long.

The thing I keep thinking about is the quote from the mural, “TRUE LOVE IS POSSIBLE ONLY IN THE NEXT WORLD — FOR NEW PEOPLE, IT’S TOO LATE FOR US.” There is no true love in a police state bc all of our interactions with each other are warped by the need to cling to what little individual power we have to survive. (I think that’s exactly what Kim, for instance, is doing by being a police officer. He openly admits to being disenchanted by moralism and that it’s pure sentimentality to think that the RCM serves the people of Revachol and not the coalition, but still chooses to “believe in the RCM” because it’s all he’s got. It gives him a sense of power and control in a world that increasingly feels doomed and pointless to live in.) And that doesn’t change no matter who’s doing the policing.

Kim’s love for Harry/the player is still warped in a way by the fact that they’re both cops, and that that’s the only reason he was able to look past your drug habits and neurotype and genuinely connect with you as a person. The fact that his takeaway from being a juvie cop for 15 years was that kids like Cuno aren’t worth trying to deal with is just… damn. Doesn’t bode well. But I think that if Kim lets his experiences w Harry and the people of Martinaise expand his worldview and start to be able to conceptualize a “new world,” he could also choose to be a “new person,” same as how you can reinvent Harry and his politics (to an extent). The question ig is whether they would be able to accept that it truly is, to an extent, too late for them, and that they’re going to have to be okay with laying the groundwork for change that they probably won’t live to see. Kim has that line that’s like “The moralintern is a fact. I try not to have opinions on facts. Unless they change. But… I don’t think they will in our lifetime.” If he wants to be able to be a new person and experience the true love he glimpsed in Martinaise, he’s gonna have to stop resigning himself to the “facts” of life. I don’t think it’s impossible, esp with what’s implied to be right on the horizon, but I do think that the fact that the game tells you that the week in Martinaise wasn’t enough by itself is just… sadly real. 20 years, 6 kills, and a dead(?) partner is a whole lot of sunken cost.

But that’s kind of what I like about DE’s particular brand of fragile optimism tbh. The fact that it openly is saying “we are destroying the world and the ending feels like it’s right on the horizon, and that we’re never going to make it to the new world in our lifetime, if we ever make it at all. But we’ve still got something to fuel our infernal engines and push us to try anyway. Even when it’s too late, it’s never really too late. The new world starts in our imaginations, and imagination starts as hope, and hope starts as love.”

Some misc smaller headcanons bc he’s loud tonight

  - Izana is the kind of person that if you wake him up, he’s probably not going to go back to sleep. Even if he’s exhausted, once he’s up, he’s up. If he isn’t entirely awake then there’s a chance he might doze back off. But if he is wide awake, he’s up from then on (till he goes to bed or falls asleep, whichever happens first. )

  - He possesses a high alcohol tolerance. When it does start to get to him, he’s pretty good at keeping his composure to the point that mostly only those who know him are able to tell that he’s started to reach that point. 

  - Izana is not personally one for gambling. He has no interest in it and knows the odds. But he will observe others play now and again and he has no opposition to others. He just likely isn’t going to participate. He’s done it here and there over the years but its very rare.

  - He dislikes total silence. Quiet is fine, he doesn’t mind that. But there needs to be some sort of faint noise, even if its just the tank bubbling or a fan on or music or something.

  - Cooking is not his strongest forte. He can cook a few things but he’s never particularly interested in learning more and he doesn’t tend to eat all that much anyways.  Baking however he’s bad at and makes no attempts. (That said he will swipe some of the batter or cookie dough if its left unattended. )

Short story but I used to be suuuuper YGO Vrains favoring from 2020 into early 2022, but I found myself drifting from it because one can only tolerate so much subtweeting and catty behavior over personal preferences, and I’d never really finished Zexal before, just has a half baked idea how it ends, like I watched a chunk of it when it first aired but never finished and proceeded to forgot most of it, so I picked it back up after deciding to pick up Kaito to write in an RP server with some friends because I remembered liking him and… well I didn’t stand a chance when I got back to him fjdhdhd

I deeply relate to the theme of self-inflicted loneliness because it’s easier to be by yourself, just getting walked out on, left in the dark, or even being shafted for reasons out of my own control, I really get that

Also taking on too much if it means the people you love will be ok even if the ending result is you’re not ok, where he is after his Duel with Yuma at the end of Zexal I and getting to repair all of those relationships he was damaged by is where I want to get to in life

Bonus fact that’s minor spoilers for another spin off, but I’m… not a huge fan of his portrayal in Arc V, I like that he’s there and acknowledge that it’s a different Kaito and I love all Kaito Tenjos as they exist, including the Structures Cosplayer, but… yeah, not a fan, I’m a big fan of showing vs telling and Arc V to me feels like it’s ALL telling for all of its supporting cast most of the time

Yuma coming in and finishing it up is symbolic in its own right because of the importance of bonds, but to me that was and always should have been Kaito’s moment, let Yuma and Astral show up literally any other time and I’m fine with it

The Nice And Valid Criticisms of Dyson Bradley (bitch)

General warning for Good Omens Season 2 spoilers

Please heed this warning before reading further, thank you.

I just binged the entirety of Good Omens 2 (which I will refer to as GO2 for simplicity from now on) and I had a few thoughts about it.

First of all I want to preface this by saying I loved it. I'm not writing a long hate speech bc I enjoyed every moment of it, there are just some thinky thoughts I need to throw into the void. For example, the writing was superb. Gabriel's "Jim" character was my absolute favourite. I'm a sucker for 'scarecrow' type characters and he was my silly little guy. I wanted to pinch his cheeks. I loved how Aziraphale and Crowley inadvertently adopted him for a solid minute.

The diversity of the show in its entirety was refreshing to see (as a personal complaint, though, I wish we could've seen at least one trans man). Especially the disabled angel. There were only two slight rough spots about the disabled representation that I felt.

1. I did not like how the disabled character kept being forgotten and meant so little to the season that if you removed them nothing would change.

2. I did not like that, despite all of the representation of queer people, people of colour, we only got one visibly disabled character. It felt sort of tokenized, like "hey look at me there's a wheelchair user! Okay onto more of the other minorities that we care more about."

I liked to see the reality that is the fact that queer people can have toxic relationships or be toxic in a relationship. It's not all sunshine and rainbows. Nina having a genuinely difficult relationship with Lindsay was good for the fact that it was very real and kicked all the lesbian fetishism a bit by saying "these are people in a relationship, not sex appeal." Which was fucking amazing. So tired of seeing lesbian relationships be perfect all the time. I also absolutely loved the fact that they didn't end up together and did the mature thing. They communicated and decided it wasn't a good idea to date right after Nina got dumped.

Gabriel was a joy to watch and I loved the mystery of what happened to him. Somehow, despite how sudden it was, the relationship formed between Beelzebub and Gabriel didn't feel sudden or forced. It was actually really sweet and I was happy they got to be together. I didn't like how Gabriel's memories came back in a fly, I wish Beelzebub had taken the time to slowly remind him of who he was and ultimately make him a more optimistic and better person from the transition of Jim's experiences to Gabriel's. Though I understand it was a subplot and limited to 6 episodes of already hectic storylines. You can only do so much, especially with the strikes.

Shax was a pretty flat character, which is fine. She made a good antagonist, I just wish there was more of a sense of danger like in the first season. It felt a lot calmer and more love focused, I'd love to see aro representation here too.

Which brings me to my final criticism.

Aziraphale.

Now I have no degree in literature, I am literally [REDACTED] years old and fresh outta highschool. This is mainly just my opinion. As the rest of it has been.

But it was my interpretation that the entirety of GO season one was to represent Aziraphale finally accepting the fact that he is not on the Angels' side nor the Demons' side, but on Crowley's side. I had thought it was quite clear that he and Crowley officially made their own little corner of nice living outside of the binary.

However, this seems completely erased in GO2. It's not clear until the last episode, but Aziraphale still wants to be on the Angels' side after everything. It's like GO1 never happened. It felt like a soft reset of his personality in its entirety. Same with Crowley and the whole "nice" thing. I had thought that he was accepting his niceness enough to tolerate being called it every once in a while.

But neither of them changed. In fact they got worse. They didn't communicate with eachother about their relationship (which, I understand), and then the show ended on a cliffhanger after Aziraphale seemingly completely reverts back to when he first met Crowley. Maybe I'm not understanding something, but it just didn't feel right. I'm not Neil Gaiman at all but it wasn't in Aziraphale's character in my opinion.

That all being said, if you haven't watched it and for some reason you read this anyway knowing there would be spoilers, please go watch it if you have access to it and if you enjoyed the first season. The characters are still so very well written and they feel like real people with real experiences which you don't see often in queer media. It's good representation of real people. I can't wait to see what happens next ♡

unpopular opinion- rossi gets more hate than jj and jj deserves it way more than rossi

hmm i tentatively agree with this. rossi has a lot of problems of his own: he’s played by a horrible actor, his mob/military background is boring as shit, he’s a misogynist (he’s gotten better but im p sure thats just him getting milder in his old age) and oh yeah he’s fucking racist aljdlajd so its hard for me to straight up say he doesnt deserve the hate he gets

that being said i feel like people arent necessarily mad at him for the right reasons? like i barely hear anyone talk ab any of the above, mostly its that he’s just mean to reid. which… i mean he’s not not mean to reid. but if we’re comparing apples to apples, i think he’s not nearly as bad as jj in that sense. it may just be a matter of personal opinion: i happen to think his jokes land better and overall his humor seems to come from a better place. it feels like he jokes around for the sake of the joke bc he sees an opportunity to be funny, as opposed to jj who seems to be making fun of reid as a way to seek validation from others that she’s better than him

this may just be me finding a snarky old man less threatening than a blonde haired blue eyed mean girl, but idk there just seems to be a difference between “we found him on the steps of the fbi” and the annoyed faces jj makes every time reid speaks. one is clearly a joke, obviously an exaggeration, and spoken with a bemused fondness. the other plays into reid’s insecurities, is only meant to be funny to others, and comes from genuine annoyance. this is just the energy i get from them, but idk how my many years of anti jj bias plays into the interpretation of their actions

i guess its bc, as much as rossi makes fun of reid, they’re backhanded compliments more than anything and unlike jj he’ll actually give reid credit (showing him off to his friend w the crossword puzzles). he acknowledges reid’s strengths even as he puts him down, while jj seems to tolerate him. i think rossi plays the grumpy grandpa role well, and it works bc he doesnt take himself to seriously either. he can take a joke when jj would just get defensive

but that confidence is also part of whats frustrating about him. he’s frequently wrong and stuck in the old ways, but still feels justified and a sense of pride. jj rejects her roots (she doesnt do it well, but at least she’s vocal ab her disappointment w her childhood) but rossi frequently reminisces ab “the good ol days” whether its back in his early bau days w gideon, back in his days w the military, back in his days w his mob buddies, or back when he was growing up in general. jj doesnt like to admit she’s wrong bc she’s defensive and has an inferiority complex. rossi doesnt like to admit he’s wrong bc, more often than not, he still thinks he’s right

personally i agree w u bc i find jj way more annoying. ive also grown weary of the fandom pretending she’s an angel when i have yet to hear anyone point out any redeeming qualities she may have (spoiler alert: there are none). meanwhile i dont really hear anyone talk positively ab rossi… not that he deserves it at all aldhakhd its just makes it more obvious that people like jj for no reason. ultimately it is just a matter of opinion, i just dont think many people bother defending rossi so its less irritating when he clearly does something wrong. pointing out jj’s flaws feels like an uphill battle against people plugging their ears, digging their heels, and pretending she’s perfect.

ultimately rossi is just a goofy old man set in his ways, and its hard to blame him for that. hate to use such an overused word, but he’s just a boomer aldhskhc and on the boomer scale he’s not that bad akdhkshd. but jj is young. part of being young is learning to grow from your mistakes. she’s not even willing to admit she makes any. i think thats why its harder for me to forgive her akdhskh which may not be fair: rossi gets the “he doesnt know any better” excuse from the “cant teach an old dog new tricks” cliche (as problematic as it is). jj is far more stubborn and abrasive, which is less forgivable when she’s still supposed to be growing as a person. she’s stunting her own growth and idk if she could ever admit it

you already know about michaels journey to smiths grove, lets talk about caseys.

casey belonged to a family of very, very heavily religious catholics; she was brought up in the bible belt. she was born with gilberts syndrome, it went undiagnosed as her family was very prominent on staying away from medical care in any way shape or form and attempting to use prayer as long as they could. caseys syndrome mainly effected her eyes, giving her a jaundiced yellow tint since she was young. her family not knowing any better immediately resulted to prayer and covered her in gods word and water. it was harmless at first until they reached the conclusion that their precious daughter had been cursed by the devil from their past deeds; so they took to more extreme mesures. they believed caseys harmless syndrome was a plague sent by satan and they were terrified that it was coming for them next, effectively locking young casey away for as long as they possibly could. the abuse started right away, going as far as to waterboard her with holy water to ‘ release the evil ‘ that supposedly lived within her. from ages 5 to 13 she had little to no access to education, hygiene or other basic human needs unless she was so graciously granted them by her concerned family. her only source of learning material was a worn out bible and a few quotes strung on the wall of her damp, molded basement. casey didn’t know any better, she thought it was normal and she herself believed that her sickness was bestowed upon her by the devil himself to punish her. as she grew older more rage and sorrow started to build up, she started coming to her senses and all she could feel was hatred towards the people who were supposed to love and nuture her; only they didnt do that, her only contact was them coming to tighten her clasps to the old mattress or grant her a good meal once in a great while at this point in her life.

every year, casey was invited to one dinner with her family. she waited and plotted for that day, searching for anything that could help her execute her plan. she ended up coming across her fathers old hunting dagger, the blade dull but useable. her sister finally came to collect her for her yearly treat, and as the family sat down to say grace; casey struck. she made sure all six of them succumbed to death in the most excruciating way possible. killing them wasn’t enough, something within her needed more. so, she gutted them, indulging in her gluttony. casey tore holes into them and ate every last bit of flesh she could possibly get from her family; only leaving behind mangled, headless corpses.

she was on the run for quite awhile, keeping up her murderous rampage all the way through memphis before she was caught. casey was quick to be declared criminally insane and was deported all the way to illinois; where she resided at smiths grove until she was around 19. as you expected, casey was cell neighbors with michael. she was absolutely infatuated with him and his mysterious aura, every time she got a glimpse of him her heart pounded. her obsession only grew as time passed before the incident with the bus; all the time she spent talking to him through the barred windows of the doors locking them in their cells. michael couldn’t stand her, but he also tolerated her rambling. she treated him like a person, talking to him as if he were an old friend. she happened to be on the bus with him, excitedly blabbering about how she gets to spend more time with her ‘ angel ‘.

when the bus crashed casey was quick to follow michael, taking in his beauty and figure for as long as she could before he snapped at her. he didn’t know how to react when she didn’t perceive him as the evil threat that he was; she just seemed content while holding onto his wrist while nearing death. he loosened his grip and she could finally speak, offering herself up to michael. whether it be help with hunting, self care or even if he wished to eliminate her she was more than happy to help. he figured he could use it to his advantage and allowed her to tag along to haddonfield with him; he figured once he was finished with her he could end her as she had wanted. boy did that change lmfao.

casey and michael didnt stay together, he knew where she had been hiding and came to collect her when he needed her. over a long time a bond formed and michael reciprocated her obsession. he didn’t want it to be obvious, he didn’t want to seem weak; so he resorted to stalking. while she was out or asleep, michael practically lived with her. he watched her every move, he kept her window unlocked just so he could sneak in. he would lay in her bed just to breathe in her scent or steal her favorite clothing just to keep a piece of her with him. everytime she had made a new ‘ friend ‘ that had gotten too close to her they would be taken out in an instant. casey never really killed unless michael directed her to, she tried to live normally as she never had the opportunity before. michael would bring her things that she didn’t notice, leave traces of himself around her and her home knowing she wouldn’t pay it any mind. but of course eventually they got together,,, slowly,,,

michael didn’t know what to do or how to treat her, his feelings about her were cofusing. he wanted to see her blood run through his fingers but he had the burning urge to hold her too. he fr had two wolves inside him

casey eased him into it, he was so unfamiliar with touch or emotion that it frightened him more than upset him. but soon enough he started to crave it more than anything. if she wasnt holding him or touching him at the very least, he was holding her. they’re melted together at this point; michael has his long days full of slaughter and enjoys coming home to someone whos going to patch him up and care for him, very rarely he even tries the same for her.

They were, not friends, but they were usually put together to do stuff, and they were in school together. Chishiya didn’t hate the guy, he just didn’t like him. No hard feelings. He was probably the only person there Shuntaro could tolerate. Dont get him started on this girl who he hated. She was so annoying, how she even got into med school, let alone become a doctor, was beyond his understanding.  Later that week, he met with Niragi to have some coffee. “So, hows work?” Chishiya asked. “I mean, its, ok?” Niragi replied. “You?” Niragi asked. “Its been fine, besides this one girl-” Chishiya started. “You talk about her all the time, i get it. Shes useless, dumb, and annoying.” Niragi finished for him. Chishiya just looked at him, impressed, followed by a nod. “Do you, like her, or something?” Niragi asked, raising one eyebrow, or attempting, atleast. “What the heck? No? Ive told you, like 5,965 times already i dont want a relationship, and even if i did, you can bet it wouldnt be her.” Chishiya snapped back, almost offended. Niragi couldnt help but let out a chuckle. Not loud, but audible.

They went to niragis house, since it was late and his house was closer. “Wanna race?” Niragi offered. “Why would i do that.” Chishiya asked, raising his eybrow, but successfully, unlike someone. “Because, you will?” Niragi said, in a tone that said ‘duh’. “Fine, you know what? I will.” Chishiya said, smirking. “Ok, well then,” Niragi said, smiling in victory. “3, 2, 1-” Niragi started, but that little a**hole started without him. Chishiya wasnt very athletic, or wasnt interested in sports, but boy was he fast. “Thats not fair!” Niragi shouted, chasing after him, they were on his front lawn. Niragi ran as fast as he could, and when he got next to Chishiya, pulled him back, it didnt hurt him, no, just to stop him. Well, it kinda backfired on Niragi bc he fell too, but it was 100 percent worth it. Niragi attempted to tickle him, but unluckily for him, chishiya wasnt ticklish. Niragi was disappointed, but he still felt like he won. “Are you serious?!” Chishiya said, annoyed. “Im wearing white.”He added. “Well maybe, Mr. Im better than you should think before he acts-!” Niragi said, laughing at the end. “Well, may-be!” Chishiya pouted, admitting to defeat. “Jerk.” He whispered, jokingly, a smile spreading across his face.  “You can sleep on the floor.” Niragi decided. “Oh come on, niragi, that was 4 years ago! Let it go!” Chishiya whined. “No!” Niragi said. Smiling. Chishiya rolled his eyes and said nothing.  When niragi woke up, he saw that chishiya wasnt there, he must’ve walked back. Well, i couldve given him a ride back. Niragi thought to himself. In the corner of his eye, he saw a note. It read:

talking abt the animated high school show with the cloned historical figures but absolutely not tagging it bc I don’t need any randos to come argue with me abt it, so

putting it under the cut bc it’s long, rambly, and has several significant spoilers for s2 and s3. it is mostly about Topher bc they did him so dirty LOL. I just gotta get it off my chest bc it’s all eating me alive to the point where it feels like grief😵‍💫

tonight I ended up yelling myself into hysteria about how devastated I am that they’re literally writing Topher out of the whole show (literally 6 minutes of screen time this entire season. like actually literally.) and how easily they could’ve incorporated him more but they refuse to respect him as a character. like they can’t even do the bare minimum of continuing ANY of his story from s2 at all & its honestly a disservice, like they’d rather force his whole character to being defined by a group of other strange losers who all feel the same way as he does and acts the same way as he does, rather than keep him as an individual and UTILIZE HIM. he was a total loner in s2 bc he literally did not fit in with anyone and that made him stand out. but now there are several other weird randos (one of which being the laziest clone I’ve ever seen in my life—like Jack the Ripper was not a sassy black lady, what are we even talking about anymore it doesn’t make any sense, even as a joke) who are ALSO total loners who don’t fit in with anyone.

they didn’t even try to do anything at all with him. the most basic example is that he literally said he had a crush on Joan in the prev season—to the degree that he would convince Abe to get molested and then blackmail him abt it to keep him from stealing Joan from him—& then nothing happened with that at all when there was SUCH A CLEAR IN for that storyline. another insane example: he spent the entire previous season only talking to Abe and said like one word directly to him directly the entire season and there was never any mention of them ever having any relationship. no conflict btwn him and Abe for the INSANITY that Topher put him thru, which is actually nuts. they just…don’t talk.

my honest theory atp is just that he was a character that was too funny of a concept not to include, and didn’t have much else in mind. they just kept giving him jokes that were silly and didn’t take a moment to realize that there was potential for a very interesting ongoing antagonist. his blackmailing storyline was the most interesting thing in s2 for me bc there were so many questions about his actual motivations (bc he surely did not seem to care abt Joan when she was in trouble in s2ep10). & also bc like that’s a character who’s genuinely interesting and dangerous. he’s a total ticking time bomb with no friends and a history of psychiatric hospitalizations that’s constantly overcompensating for who he inherently is as the clone of a genocidal colonizer yet still being disliked because he’s overcompensating so much, who is willing to actively victimize and traumatize the only person who tolerates him over a crush (whether it be him having a genuine interest in Joan or him not wanting to lose his only friend).

but now they have him like “man I hate the popular kids, ooh Joan go change a letter out from the cheerleaders signs lol it’ll make them look stupid” are you fr. “we’re gonna release venomous snakes to poison everyone” don’t even look at me. so shallow, nothing there. why did he give up on trying to seem like a good person? doesn’t matter apparently. I could easily make up a reason but it’s not worth it to talk abt in the show ig so whatever.

it’s just so insulting and kinda icky to see that these writers/showrunners/whatever actively dislike one of their characters this much that they completely ignore both his established character traits AND his mere presence. He isn’t even in the background in half these episodes. He’s just gone.

I would’ve rather the writers just be like “sorry he’s in the asylum forever goodbye” and keep him out of this season entirely bc to see him reduced into generic nothing was a personal tragedy.

I was screaming about this for at least 40 minutes like banging on my desk and trying not to angry cry lol.

ik it’s dramatic but honestly I’m kinda grieving the show as a whole ngl. like I’ve come to the conclusion that it just doesn’t have a place in this decade & in retrospect it shouldn’t have been brought back in the first place. it’s so different from what it started as and I just…I dunno man. this season didn’t have any original music, no musical episode, no celebrity guests as far as I remember, and its just like guys what are we DOIN. it’s just such a deviation from the core elements of the show and it makes how serious we’re meant to take the show even more obvious and strange imo.

AND ANOTHER THING‼️ on that same note of having to take the show and characters pretty seriously, it’s even more obvious that they’re writing Topher out bc he’s the only “main character” in the opening credits that doesn’t get PROFUSE amounts of in-depth exploration—he literally gets zero. whatever nonsense he said in that last episode abt enjoying that he’s a villain doesn’t hold a candle to what everyone else got and honestly means nothing to me bc like…how am I supposed to be even kind of impacted by that reveal when he hadn’t spent a SECOND of this season trying to get anyone to like him. all he did in s2 was try to seem like a good woke guy with his awful activism and he did NONE of that the entire season, so it’s like 1. ok why not like why didn’t he do that if it was his MAIN BIT (A: bc the writers do not care about him clearly) and also 2. so why am I supposed to care abt him embracing his lineage in the last ep? it drives me NUTS bc that could’ve been such an interesting development (ala “aren’t you tired of being nice? Don’t you wanna just go ape shit?”) if they fucking set it up at all but god forbid i guess.

they so easily could’ve just cut out the bleachur creachurs and forced Joan to ally herself with Topher alone bc now everyone knows he’s kind of a misogynist and Abe fuckin hates him for the obvious reasons, and we get to the same place. let him and Joan be seen together. that would absolutely add tension to Joan’s relationship with the rest of her friends, especially since all of the boys KNOW that Topher likes her. There we go, easy peasy set up; it keeps him in his role as an antagonistic force and allows him easier access to the rest of the fucking cast. there are endless fucking possibilities and I could draft up like five different ways they could’ve easily incorporated him in. it makes me so mad.

won’t even get into how they threw candide off to the side too. fucking crazy man.

this sounds so awful but if it doesn’t get renewed, I don’t think I’m gonna be too upset. & that honestly makes me want to cry my eyes out bc this has been my favorite show since I was 16 :(

im rewatching s3 now with my partner and im hoping ill change my mind and inhale some copium and force myself to like it, but at this moment this is how i feel and its exhausting. just bad. (honestly I have several other standout issues that i just don’t like with the season—e.g. fucking Mary is the stupidest character arc they could’ve used like this is so lame. we spent three episodes hyping her up so abe can get his dick wet and she just ended up being Bloody Mary trying to fuck him to death. we have time for this but not topher huh? no time for candide either huh? booo…hisss….stupid fuckin plot line and dumber reveal. some character issues with scuddy boy too…hrng)
