when you left I hated you
not because you broke my heart
but because you took my favorite things with you
the music because I find you in every lyric
the sun because you were my light
the laugh that only you could pull from me
the mannerisms you pointed out to me
the smell of hair dye.
when you left I hated you
not because you broke my heart
but because you took my life with you.

Naked truth:
Ryle Kincaid is probably one of my favorite characters that I've ever read about.
His actions are inexcusable but his character is so in depth and messy and captivating that I find myself trying to dig into his brain to try and understand how it works.
Ryle Kincaid is just a guy, a guy who did some bad things.
I'd love to talk to you guys about what you think about him and "It ends with us" as a whole. We can exchange thoughts and maybe the both of us will walk away with more knowledge.

hot take from it ends with us by Colleen Hoover:
Ryle doesn't want to be the bad guy. He realizes he is and hates himself for it, he cannot imagine how he could ever hurt the woman he loves so much; the woman he wanted to change for and spend the rest of his life with. "There is no such thing as 'bad people.' We are all just people that sometimes do bad things." Ryle is not a bad person. He owns up to his mistakes and is willing to learn and try and move on from them. He loves Lily enough to know that despite how much he loves her, that he isn't good for her. He lets her go despite it being the last thing he wants to do, because he understands. I love Ryle, and I want to give him a hug so bad.

When he was wiping that cow shit on me, it was quite possibly the most turned-on I have ever been.

My branches sway
above love-sick mortals
blinded by Cupid.
I hear the ba-dum of their hearts
full of ignorance
unknowing.
Their love pretends,
I want to yell.
Watching not you, but another
like a lion watching their prey.

I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.

staring out to the star-lit sky
longing gazes towards them,
the astral gasses millions of years old.
so complex yet so loved.
why can't I be like them?

breaths slow, eyes close.
lights dim, consciousness fades
as I am transported to a place so familiar
that I welcome with open arms,
and a breath of relief.
