WHY ARE WE HERE?
A mother camel and her baby are talking one day and the baby camel asks, “Mom why have we got these huge three-toed feet?” The mother replies, “To enable us trek across the soft sand of the desert without sinking.” “And why have we got these long, heavy eyelashes?” “To keep the sand out of our eyes on the trips through the desert” replies the mother camel. “And Mom, why have we got these big…

JUST ONE STEP
“I can’t see a way through,” said the boy. “Can you see your next step?” “Yes.” “Just take that,” said the horse. Source: Charlie MackesyThe Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse(HarperOne, 2019) CONSIDER THIS It is easy to become overwhelmed and frustrated by happenings and non-happenings in your life and lose track of the path. It’s easy to fall into a routine and lose heart when faced with…

ABANDONING THE NETS THAT TANGLE US
The disciples abandoned their nets and followed the Way, the Truth and the Life.
What “nets” exactly is God asking us to abandon—perhaps unhealthy habits, disordinate attachments, excessive worry, or other stresses that aren’t good for us and don’t bring peace or joy.
Abandoning the nets is perhaps the invitation to die to ourselves and our personal agendas, allowing Jesus to live in and through us a little more each day.
What is one small way that we can do that today?

SING YOUR SONG
The song that I came to sing remains unsung to this day.
I have spent my days in stringing and in unstringing my instrument.
The time has not come true, the words have not been rightly set; only there is the agony of wishing in my heart.
The blossom has not opened; only the wind is sighing by.
I have not seen his face, nor have I listened to his voice; only I have heard his gentle footsteps from the road before my house.
The livelong day has passed in spreading his seat on the floor; but the lamp has not been lit and I cannot ask him into my house.
I live in the hope of meeting with him, but this meeting is not yet.
Gitanjali 13
From Gitanjali (Macmillan and Company, 1916) by Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941)
TWO QUESTIONS TO WALK WITH
Are you still stringing and unstringing your instrument?
What is holding you back from singing your song, unique and precious?

WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be. –Matthew 6:19-21
Or as "The Message" renders it:
“Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.”  –Matthew 6:19-21

AN IRISH BLESSING (J.E.Moore) | Mixed Choir Juventus
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

WHAT IS HOPE?
“Hope is what sits by a window and waits for one more dawn, despite the fact that there is not one ounce of proof in tonight's black, black sky that it can possibly come.” – Joan Chittister, Scarred by Struggle, Transformed by Hope
How would you describe, define hope?

THE GOLDEN HIVE
Nature, and the things we live with and use, precede us and come after us. But they are, so long as we are here, our possession and our friendship. They know with us our needs and our pleasures, as they did those of our ancestors, whose trusted companions they were.
So it follows that all that is here is not to be despised and put down, but, precisely because it did precede us, to be taken by us with the innermost understanding that these appearances and things must be seen and transformed.
Transformed? Yes. For our task is to take this earth so deeply and wholly into ourselves that it will resurrect within our being. We are bees of the invisible. Passionately we plunder the honey of the visible in order to gather it in the great golden hive of the invisible.
— Rilke, Letter to Witold Hulewicz November 13, 1925

OPTI OVER PESSI
A pessimist read his horoscope. It said, “Make new friends and see what happens.” He made three new friends and nothing happened. Now he complains that he is stuck with three new friends. CONSIDER THIS That’s the problem with having a negative attitude. No matter how good something is, negative thinkers will always find something to complain about.

BATHE IN THE SOUND
You can just experiment with this piece of music. Enter it as if plunging yourself into a hot tub, relaxed, with eyes closed.  Let the sound caress your whole being, inner and outer.  Stay with the feeling.

I happened upon this piece of music early this morning and it caught my attention, and in some ways, it captured my soul or rather, my soul felt released by the sound of it.  Listen. Listen. Listen differently. Listen deep. Feel how this haunting sound of human hums resonates, if at all, with the sound of whatever is happening in the dark, cave of your pregnant heart.

CARRYING THE BEAMS OF LOVE
And we are put on earth a little space, That we may learn to bear the beams of love, And these black bodies and this sunburnt face Is but a cloud, and like a shady grove.
