If you speak to me often, you will perceive everything in lion-form. For neither does the curved mass of heaven appear then nor do the stars shine. The light of the moon is hidden, and the earth is not firmly secured, but everything is seen by flashes of lightning.

If you often invoke me all things will appear to you to be a lion. For neither will the convex bulk of heaven then be visible; the stars will not shine; the light of the moon will be concealed; the earth will not stand firm; but all things will be seen in thunder.

"the light of the moon is hidden" reference to Cancer.

Summer tropic is in Cancer, and the winter tropic in Capricorn. And since Cancer is nearest to us, it is very properly attributed to the Moon, which is the nearest of all the heavenly bodies to the earth. But as the southern pole, by its great distance, is invisible to us, hence Capricorn is attributed to Kronos (Saturn)

in On the Cave of the Nymphs by Porphyry:

Homer was not satisfied with saying that it had two gates, but adds that one of the gates was turned towards the north, but the other which was more divine, to the south. He also says that the northern gate was pervious to descent, but does not indicate whether this was also the case with the southern gate. For of this, he only says, "It is inaccessible to men, but it is the path of the immortals

You can kinda see the similar gnosis/insight people have to associate Helios with Hecate in that sense if you attribute this oracle line to Hecate like Psellus did.

Porphyry clearly states that the signs from Cancer to Capricorn, which constitute the descent of a soul into a body, are situated in the following order: and the first of these is Leo, which is the house of Helios (the Sun); afterwards Virgo, which is the house of Hermes (Mercury); Libra, the house of Aphrodite (Venus); Scorpius, of Ares (Mars); Sagittarius, of Zeus (Jupiter); and Capricornus, of Kronos (Saturn). “But from Capricorn,” he adds, the ascent is naturally “in an inverse order.” That is, in an inverse order on the opposing curve of the wheel of the zodiac. Aquarius is attributed to Kronos; Pisces, to Zeus; Aries, to Ares; Taurus, to Aphrodite; Gemini, to Hermes; and in the last place Cancer to the Selene (the Moon), only upon the soul’s descent into a body is the sun’s sign (Leo) encountered. This is basically the whole dichotomy of Metatron and Sandalphon, because you get that similar connection between Malkuth/Kether and Enoch/Elijah, what I see personally is this hinting toward merkavah and Hekhalot literature where you descened to the chariot/merkavah. In a way I can definitely say the hints are astrologically coded but the practice itself isn't astrological strictly.

the whole descent into mysteries is in that verse, the curved mass of heaven nor do star shine IS THE LITERAL HEAVEN if you scry them or work through the gates of merkavah. The light of the moon is hidden and earth is not secured because you're reaching a place that's not "here" in the objective sense of the world, everything is seen by flashes of lighting is very apt way to describe how you actually see stuff there! almost very reminiscent of dreamy visions where everything is remembered haphazardly !

In summary the astrological hints are just symbolic not practically invalid but not restrictive into it, since the sun/lion-form is the first thing that come after Saturn in descent and last thing before Moon then you can see the hint THERE. It's not lion, but the sun which when it shine so brightly it will hide the rays of the moon, you can see that the sun is both what we can fall into and we can rise through.

I definitely felt very excited to share my hot take about this oracle line, because it is rather very related to some other blogs that I did work with. Now...dare I say that these lion forms is what Daniel saw in the pit when he got thrown? notice how Daniel immediately start having visions after the lion pits from Daniel 6 to 7, it is an immediate jump.

Definitely a wonderful post, the dirt is what make the seed in the land push forth and sprout. Very authentic and down to earth, you can feel the reality of Saturn not just being there magically as this distant planet but also as the force giving us form by giving us constraints.

Elemental-astrological talismans, a cost-effective talisman work with stones.

Before we get into the astrological unwell weather full of eclipses, mercury retrograde, and mars-saturn conjunction I want to take this period to propose the topic I have been thinking about personally in my head. Mainly that (1) I am not very good at engraving figures on precious metals for talismanic magic and (2) finding the proper method of consecration.

The whole story started around 2019 when I was walking with my friend on the side of the road and he told me "hey this magic stuff is fantastic but show me if it really works", I held a random stone on the side of the road, willed solar energy to go into it for 5 or 10 minutes and gave it to my friend who kept it at his store for 3 months and with each passing month his profit kept going down, what in the end? he threw it at a palm tree and it died in less than a month or so.

That lesson of the story is that don't enchant or consecrate stuff randomly, but there's more to it when I used to use this anecdote as funny story to tell my friends. If a random stone laying around can be consecrated that easily then it is possible with proper spirits overseeing the operation AND timing it is possible to make something similar to the astrological talismans with less "heavy-lifting" on the right sunthemata and planet.

A bit the current post is low on the practical aspect of it, but I think I gave enough food for thoughts for people to work it out with, no? I will hopefully report my finding if it is a viable or a non-viable option by end of April or May.

Starting from now until end of April I will be out and unavailable, so sadly I won't be able to tell or speak here. Take care until then :)

I was wondering if it was my posts, @volchi :) I think I had a somewhat similar situation with you being a gay magician/occultist in the middle east, I was feeling initially this "oh I am not welcome in this tradition because I am gay" or it feels very constrictive and suffocating in a sense. I am somewhat saddened but you feeling rejected or this sense of "if they knew what I was before I did." it remind me of this meme:

Of course am not trying to make it any less serious in me sharing your experience and knowing how it feels, how valid it is. I can't personally force you to think otherwise, but that Devil-like presence is in all the abrahmic Spirits, Ancestors, Angels, and Presence of Ruach Al Qodos. Similar to that enfolding/folding on itself, "We suffer more often in imagination than in reality" as Seneca said. I felt annoyed and bothered by abrasive and crass people in mosques and I also felt dejected and got very sharp judgmental looks in churches but even knowing all of that I visit mosques in odd hours or visits churches outside of Masses. Even if I said "My Ancestors", I can't really put to words "my ancestors said so" and all I can say is that your ancestors are not someone who would reject you or abandon you. Once you see that aspect, your ancestors, your spiritual guides, your spiritual ancestors from time far far away, you really start to feel them feeling you. The Church isn't Jesus nor is the Mosque a representation of Allah, there's no separation and Allah isn't locked inside the mosque or the prayer nor is Jesus accepting only the people who ate the BREAD in the mass. That's the heart of it really, most of my pictures are of nature and of the world, because that's where the real place of worship is. Where the devil is the sun. The World is blessed, the rancid and filthy become the toil of the subterranean workers(gnomes) of the earth. It's that sense that I have respect for all witches, witch-doctors, folk magicians, and practitioner of Craft.

That image-making skill is both the thing that haunts human and elevates human, we both can make images that terrorize us and images that uplift and enlighten us. If anything it is the Love for the whole world that really makes the whole thing wonderful, the passionate zest, and child-like wonder of pushing yourself into this world not knowing where and how things go and having that faith, hope, and throwing yourself into it in a sense.

In conclusion I rambled too much! I really liked reading your posts @volchi and just felt the urge to ramble us and talk about stuff randomly haha! :) if I would say anything of value it is this: The Spirits around you, of gods, angels, daimons, deities, ancestral, or elemental are there beside you because they're uplifted with you. Praying with them transform you and them, and the depth of each spirit can be a million times deeper than we think we know them. If anything, our ancestral spirits, our religions, and so on are more deeper and more complex then they seem on the surface and if one of them is bigoted in this world then you might people who are infinitely more deeper, mysterious, and complex in the otherworld! Don't lose hope, yes but more importantly don't lose your love for the craft :)

Reading on that persons posts is incredibly beautiful because they are very wise and you get to see someone who takes their faith very seriously and reflects deeply on abrahamic religions. But it does break my heart because I have always felt a sense of rejection from abrahamic spirits and the religion of my ancestors, like just this paranoid sense of judgement as if they knew what I was before I did. I truly did want to be a good orthodox christian but the transsexuality had me fear for my living family rejecting me and then the consequent witchcraft had me fear for my ancestors rejecting me. My own anxiety made these threats seem more real than they were and long after they stopped being real threats. but regardless this chased me and my desires drew me in kind of a gross ass push-pull threesome towards the devil, which felt like a terrifying bonus rite of passage almost like learning to walk or have sex.

I feel like even with all the associations with just rancidness and filth and evil being true to some extent I was also very surprised by how beautiful the devil can be and how uninherently neutral he was. Like he was just capable of pure power and harnessing the pulse, the king of the amoral cruel woods and the earth which mothered all these awful things that need to devour each other to survive. He teaches us things that are applicable to the third dimension, our gravity and the way we posess a divinity but still love to play like animals. He teaches liberation, kinetic rhythm, momentum, impact vibration, gravity and how to use it. He taught Eve how to have sex. He teaches us new perspectives, skills, how to make music, dance, fight well, how to move on the beat with our heartbeat as a drum as well as how to cut the throat of anything that fixes to prevent that. I know more about sacrifice and faith from him than I ever did in any church, and I know the moment I see somebody preaching I am going to pay a terrible price.

Love is such an essential thing to keep us going, both in magic, and many other occult and spiritual endeavor. Without love the whole process of what we are doing will be a chore, there won't be a push nor enjoyment in our work. Even when we do have faith and hope, Love rules over and is the greatest of virtue in this work, if it is meditation, cultivation, magic, mediumship, divination, spirit work, and so on once you put the love into and cultivate the love within you for it then it starts opening up for you.

Of course something also important is discipline and the Saturnian focus, but that's not what I am trying to bring on the table here at this moment. The love or the crush that you have to someone isn't something that really can be cultivated or artificially generated. Love, which will unite Man through a fraternal link, is a consequence of Plato's theory on universal love as a Law of Nature. Socrates said: "Love is neither a god nor a mortal, but a great devil," that is, a great Spirit which presides over universal love. That's the same way we can see the cards of tarot: lovers, the wheel, the devil, the chariot, and other like moon, sun, and judgement. These all are an expression of love, of working with love, of directing, being directed, and being ruled over by love. Maybe in that sense what I am saying that is think of it even practically can you FORCE yourself to love sitting down to meditate? no, you can't. Love is the outpouring of the heart from the experience of life. This is the practical teaching and open secret to making big progress, to love your work, to love your spirits, to love your divination, to love your rituals, and love your altar, to love gods, humans, friends, and enemies in this joyful heartwarming pouring out of your center/self. in Conclusion and simplicity, let the Love be the virtue that opens all other virtue, be the key and the door, that's why Love can bring guidance if you truly love and yearn for the teaching and guidance, Amen.

Restitutionism: Praying For and with the Spirits.

Nature persuadeth us that there are pure Dæmons, and that evil germs of Matter may alike become useful and good. Chaldean Oracle

That's the message, baptism of infernal into celestial and manifesting the celestial into the terrestrial. It's humanizing your interaction with spirits and not making the interaction with spirits to be some kind of thoughtform play nor an algorithmized talking. The spirit change and act differently, and they do have different culture from us, that's true. I am starting with the basic idea that there's more depth to earth, forest, fire, elemental, nature, mountains, sea, demons, angels, saints, heros, etc. Really that's the essence of it, the depth not the breadth of the whole interaction with them, but the deeper you go with them then the better you will get out interacting with them.

Sometime spirits mean business and will only come on a work related basis, but not all spirits are like that. Have some fun, chill with the spirit, set a campfire, chill around, and chat with them. If you come to people happy, encouraging, and having fun with them then they will help you in a better way. Think about the whole world or whole of the spiritual path as a marathon not as a sprint race, you're gonna exhaust yourself before you even start if your whole approach is so...hard headed and stiff. The road will break you but the road will not break, in simple term HAVE FUN. You can gossip with spirits, oh what do you think of spirits from this grimoire? or what do you think of spirits from this land or from that spot? spirits have fun talking about their life, about their friends, about what they like and don't like and that's a fun conversation starter :) Of all Souls, those certainly are superlatively blessed, which are poured forth from Heaven to Earth; and they are happy, and have ineffable stamina, as many as proceed from Thy Splendid Self, O King, or from Jove Himself, under the strong necessity of Mithus Chaldean Oracle 86

Another point I want to open for people to try is look into the working with spirits with a bit more depth. If you can invoke and grow as a person when you work with angel or prayers then....can't you do the same with other spirits. Can't you call the elementals and pray with them a novena? or ask if a saint can help you with invoking an angel into blessing a rock's spirit? There's so much in the world to do and you can pray with spirits, you don't always need to praying for or toward the spirit. Lastly, we are transformed by all this work. Some spirits offer to us their work upfront, other request something in return, some don't want to work with us. In the end, may the heavenly realms come down to redeem us and may those around us be redeemed, may we help those who need our help and raise them with us, Amen. The world is such a beautiful world bursting with love kindness and happiness and child-like wonder, amen amen amen.

I definitely agree haha, I would be mistaken if when I was at first I was all about "oh people are clutching pearls and hiding the truth from people", but the more I practice the more the truth of this fact appear to me. Lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you I guess I am surprised at myself! seeing the turn from 11 years ago where I was intent on "jailbreaking" technique and finding shortcuts but it turned out that I was the fool for trying that! lol

Importance of Silence in Ritual Magick

Every time I return to Agrippa, I am amazed by what I have forgotten and the knowledge which he provides in the Three Books of Occult Philosophy.

Having grown up with a Christocentric worldview from which I make sense of the mundane and magickal world, the idea of silence has always been prevalent. Note Matthew 7:6 specifically, which says: “Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you." The word occult comes from the Latin verb celara meaning "to hide" or the adjective occultus meaning "hidden, concealed, or secret." In antiquity, the secrets provided to practitioners of the occult were considered valuable so much so that they were often disguised, shrouded in ways that only those holding a metaphorical key could understand the original meaning. To prevent the casting of this sacred spiritual knowledge before swine.

Agrippa expands on this idea in Ch. II of Book III where he notes five reasons for silence or circumspection.

Sharing holy matters with profane minds pollutes them. We see this even today when trying to share sacred, but secret truths granted to us by spirits with those who don't understand. Sayings like "mundane over magical" or a push for critical thought are used to lessen its influence or impact on our understanding. When we share these experiences, sometimes it can be to the detriment of the work the spirits are calling us to do. The shine of pearls is sullied by their environment.

Profane minds cannot grasp holy doctrine. Understanding is a gift to give a deeper insight and penetration of divine truths held by faith, not as a transitory enlightenment but as a permanent intuition. In Catholic dogma, this gift of understanding is granted by the Holy Spirit during Confirmation and assists in penetrating revealed truths, but also natural truths in so far as they related to a supernatural end. As St. Thomas Aquinas said, "In this very life, when the eye of the spirit is purified by the gift of understanding, one can ina a certain way see God." (Summa theologicae II-II, q. 69 a.2, ad.3).

The importance of understanding is further echoed in the Stobaei Hermetica: "But avoid converse with the many. Not that I wish you to grudge a benefit to others; my reason for this warning is rather that the many will think you one to be laughed at if you speak to them as I have spoken to you. Like welcomes like; but men that are unlike are never friends..."

3. It allows the divine enlightenment of the doctrine to occur. Everybody has experiences whereby slowing down and listening we are given directions, instructions, or encouragement from the spirits. But by keeping silent about our work, we ensure our motivations are pure and that the intention is to commune with the divine. Too often I think we miss critical personal truths in favor of using magic for public success. As noted in the Corpus Hermeticum 13.8a, "And now, my son, speak not, but keep a solemn silence; so will the mercy come down on us from God."

4. The futility of attempting to express the inexpressible. Sometimes words are incapable of describing our supernatural experiences with spirits and when we do it comes out much less life-changing than it was. There is a reason occultists gather together in communities - just as any common worldview is the base of a religion, so to do our experiences bring us together and set us apart. Only those who have worked with the spirits can fully understand your own experiences.

5. Silence involves a proscription against translation of the doctrines into other languages because the words themselves are holy and embody power. Although this may be my least favorite reason as a grimoire magician eager to find translations of French and German transcripts, I think it holds true. This idea is noted in the Corpus Hermeticum 16.1b-2 as well: "Translation will greatly distort the sense of the writings, and cause much obscurity. Expressed in our native language, the teaching conveys its meaning clearly; for the very quality of sounds...; and when the Egyptian words are spoken, the force of the things signified works in them."

Furthermore, in academic publications such as Invoking Angels by Penn State University Press, there are entire discussions around how the illiterate laity copying down instructions from holy books led to mistakes in translations, a problem noted by translators such as Joseph Peterson, David Rankine, and Stephen Skinner in their meticulous grimoire translations. Exasperated by the enhanced access to manuscripts in the 16th and 17th centuries, you see books such as the Grimoire of Arthur Gauntlet or Book of Oberon with Greek, Latin, and Hebrew translation corrections along with corrections in figures of circles or talismans.

Outside of magick, even, biblical scholars note the loss of Scriptural understanding when reading the Bible in English compared to Greek or even Hebrew, noting minute differences that entirely change the meaning of a text or provide additional context.

Taken together, I think Agrippa makes a solid argument for why keeping silent is important. Do you agree?

Have you received your recompense?

...what my spirit guide always tells me.

One of the thing I am always reminded of is that my blog is turning more on the rambling and less on the practical and as this year reach an end, is that I was doing a lot of practical stuff but every time I would want to write something about it...the question will come that "have you received your recompense" from my spirits. Am I doing this work to gain something or to show it off in my blog? of course not, but sometime I want to share stuff and I am not able or out of consideration for that I don't mention it.

That's the theme I am wrapping up this year about, the recompense of sacrifice. Did I receive the results I got from the offering or did I get something in return? That's something I am haunted by, and it is the idea of this charitable and actions without reviving anything back. It's not a bad thing! That's the hanged man, the lamed's the shepherd's staff that protects one's herd and guide them also. It's also a symbol of going from High to Low, the Action of Heaven on Earth, the fulcrum of action is from Above and the action is on earth. A lot can be seen here outside of Charity and Sacrifice. I ask myself am I really practicing or am I really doing something worthy to be hidden? I don't know! but I get the injunction or instructions to hide it because sometime we are not ready to say everything or talk about everything that we do! The Cross itself with the shin in the middle is an explanation of the sacrifice of Jesus/Charity/Sun unto us and through us. In the end I offer this last post of the year as a sacrifice for the year to come and I hope that the next we have a more fruitful and prosperous year, safe from harm, and from unfortunate mishaps, Amen. Let us offer our thoughts, lights, sacrifice, and prayers to those who are in need of it the most.

This is a ritual manual for a group ritual I did with my friends to initiate us into the Enchiridion of Pope Leo III mysteries, and it is quite a potent book for what it is. I would say that the ritual done here is heavily theurgic and Christian in nature, but the results of it and the ramifications of it reach both mundane and mystical aspects. The only thing you need to really get much from this ritual is this sense of "group work" even if you're doing it alone, you will get a lot out of it if you approach it knowing that many people will come and do this ritual in the future and will join you there in the ritual space. I recommend this read as inspiration for the group work(Eight Temple Meditation Project by Rawn Clark)

May you, your guardian angel, your spirits, and all your ancestor be given faith, hope, charity, and love. I ask that you be sanctified by Ruach HaKadosh and you may never regress from the spiritual station and attainments you received.
