NGL seeing this thing in a nightmare proper shit me up. It stared me directly in the face. I threw a chopstick at it. Missed. And then it disappeared. It could also fly. The black silhouette is how it looked in the sky. It flapped its arms like a bird and used the big cobweb hands at the end as wings. This was one of those weird dreams where it was in like ultra HD and felt very real. Not a cute fluffy cuddly dream, no. I get to see the demon monsters, helicopter crashes and cities exploding in HD. Thanks Brain.

I believe in lobsters... apparently.

Woke up one morning with this in my notes app:

"2022/04/23

Sock is long me. Sock is whispering. “I’ve always believed. I believe in lobsters” I have absolutely no memory of this dream whatsoever. But as far as I know nothing is a typo here. I do vaguely remember " I believe in lobsters." but, context? Absolutely zero.

Most common recurring themes in the my dreams: Sea Serpents:

I'm often trying to film or photograph them but things always go wrong i.e my camera dies, the buttons don't work, my phone just disappears etc. But often they turn out to be Animatronics:

Almost exclusively found in the water and LONG before fnaf came around. Not possessed or haunted creepy pasta stuff but occasionally abandoned or not working. Not limited to (but often) sea serpents, sometimes hippos, penguins and even cavemen. Roadside Dinosaurs:

They show up frequently in weird places. Probably cause when I was little I obsessed with a local tourist attraction that included an exhibit of roadside dinosaurs. Waterslides:

I'm not usually riding them, they're just kind of around. Quite often high up near a ceiling. Being attacked by a snake/big cats:

I should clarify I dont have a fear of either of these animals but for some reason it came up in dreams a lot. When I was younger it was always dreams of accidentally running into an angry snake in the forest or having to hold very still while on a boat as snakes hung from the branches above. Later it turned into dreams where a big cat had escaped a zoo and was attacking people and i had to get to safety before it found me.

Tidal Waves:

This one was A LOT more common when I was younger. I'd see a tidal wave coming in the distance and would be terrified, but somehow it was never as bad as I thought and often did no damage at all.

Holding open the jaws of the beast

One of the longest recurring elements of my dreams that I've had at least since I was a teenager is having to hold open/closed the mouth of an animal that is attacking me. Its been all sorts of animals from tigers and dogs to horses and snakes. I'm sure there's some deep metaphorical meaning to it but mostly I'm just tired of it haha. ALL I WANT IS SNUGGLES AND ALL I GET ARE STRUGGLES.

Turns out nothings scary once you call it shitty fanfiction.

So I have PTSD and some part of that is nightmares (not related to my trauma just general nightmares and panic caused by them). The other night I had a nightmare that involved being chased into the woods by some people wielding and an axe and it sucked and was scary. I woke up and eventually when I went back to sleep it was a low stakes dream of me walking around part of my home town (albeit slightly altered in the dream. But I was thinking about the previous dream and how it was scary and bad and what if this dream became that way too. Then my dream self came up with an ingenius idea on how to dismiss nightmares. I said "That dream wasn't canon. It was someone edgy AU fanfiction and canonically we're all fine and happy." So Im now adopting this as my coping mechanism for PTSD nightmares!

I had a dream where these 200ft tall tree monsters walked across the world once every 1600 years. Every few hundred years, smaller, slightly faster 100ft cactus-like creatures would do the same walk.
