My favourite fics are some of my popular ones and I talk about them all the time, so I am going to showcase the little known ones I have soft spots for.

Ariadne - Cho/Harry, canon compliant. Set in OOTP.

When I was rereading OOTP, I was utterly fascinated by the mess that is Cho/Harry. (The messier a relationship, the more I am interested in it). Grief propels this teenage relationship, and there is a certain morbid quality to Cho's attraction to Harry in OOTP. It's her need to be as close to, or have closure to her feelings about Cedric that she processes via her attraction to Harry. And that eroticisation of grief is incredibly - true to life and deserves exploration. This was my attempt to explore that using the myth of Ariadne and the Minotaur to add a surreal quality to Cho's inner life.

Purple Haze - Ron/Hermione, canon compliant.

This bi4bi Romione was written for @thethreebroomsticksficfest Pride fest! The envy/attraction paradigm is a pretty common experience for queer kids - do I want to be them or do I want them? and I wanted to take some really pivotal Romione moments in canon and offer a different interpretation for the potent jealousy both characters display at different points in the series. I actually remember struggling with the Fleur/Hermione scene in the beginning, and I remember hashing it out with @artemisia-black who was such a lovely sounding board for it!

Also, I was pretty daunted at writing Ron - a character I think I understand well, but cannot, for the life of me, write his voice. I still feel the choices I made for his POV is a style I am comfortable writing rather than something that actually suits him, but I'll get better I suppose.

Breathe the Air of Elsewhere Places - Asexual Charlie.

Also written for the @thethreebroomsticksficfest ❤️ As a 31-year-old queer woman who keeps getting asked when I plan to marry etc, I wanted to push back against privately, in my fanfiction world, to heteronormative ideas of happiness. Charlie of this fic is very comfortable with who he is, but is also looking for a home - however that might look like. I have also had a queerplatonic dynamic in the past, and wanted to pay a little tribute to thr relationship which has profoundly changed me (as it would change Charlie). I directly lifted - "I believe in serendipity when I'm with you" from there. Anyway, found family tropes for life.

October - Gen.

Three drabbles written for the Halloween celebrations at TTB. One focuses on Barty Crouch Jnr, one focuses on Ginny and one on Snape. I am particularly proud of "Disappointing Fathers" which was my attempt to get into BCJ's head.

Death, a Thief, an Old Friend - Harry & Hermione.

Using oppositional sides of thematic narrative which Harry and Hermione occupy with regard to faith/death to explore their friendship. Inspired by @bluethepineapple who said this: "Hermione serves as Harry's antithesis on the Death theme dripping through the books. When it comes to symbols of Death, it is Harry and Hermione who are in conversation with each other, and this conversation is series wide. The Grim (Harry responds to this with humour, avoidance) while Hermione fights the idea that it is an omen. She represents the fight for life, and fear of unknown that comes with Death. The story repeats this symbol with the Veil in OOTP, and then again, the grave and Resurrection Stone in DH."

Of Protein Powders and PTAs co-written with my love @tracingpatternswrites . Writing with Mal felt seamless and exciting and honestly one of the best fandom experiences I've had. I love our Wolfstar story and the world we created without being able to speak.

Stitched into My Skin a Wolfstar canon divergent WIP. I think the premise is really interesting but then... I came up with it! ; What if Dumbledore had known Peter was the secret keeper? What if the spell Peter cast was not one of destruction, but one designed to achieve something else? What if Harry hadn't been with the Dursleys?

I'll Send a Portkey only my second Drarry oneshot written but definitely one of my favourites. When Draco is asked to interview Harry on behalf of Rita Skeeter, he doesn't expect to be the one spilling the beans.

The Infallible Strength of Darkness another Drarry: Harry loves the dark but not everyone feels that way. Stumbling across Draco in the common room, Harry tries to provide comfort to an anxious Draco.

Harry Potter; Miss Drew's Class; Y4 this one doesn't get a lot of traffic (maybe because it has no ship?) But I LOVE this little snapshot of what Harry's primary schooling might have been like: We all go into teaching wanting to be Miss Honey. But none of us want to meet our Matilda. Harry Potter is my Matilda.

Hi ya'll long time no see. Since ya'll seemed to like my first post like this and I am still getting reblogs on it today, I decided to create another one. Maybe there will be another one in the future we will see.

1. The Smallest Slytherin by amandadbose88

Is a really good fic. I have not read it in a bit, but it was good of what I did read. I have read most chapters, but I can't remember if I am up to date with it or not. The fic is not complete yet and currently has 39 chapters in it.

Author's Summary: "Everything the wizarding world believed about The-Boy-Who-Lived was all lies. Harry’s life has been hell, ever since Dumbledore dumped him on the Dursleys doorstep. The wizarding world thought they could trust Dumbledore; they were wrong. Harry is careful of whom he will trust; but one thing is for certain; Dumbledore will never be one he trusts. What will happen when truths are revealed, and the so-called light is more dark than anyone had imagined? What will happen when Harry has people who care about and protect him from Dumbledore’s manipulations?"

A sweet and interesting Severitus fic. It is completed and has 25 chapters.

Author's Summary: "Harry and Dudley are attacked one evening, and Snape is called to fix it. A child sized Harry, who looks much more like Lily than James at this age, was not what he was expecting."

3. How the Potions Master Got His Happy Ending by banana567

I cannot remember the full premisis of this fic, but it was a sweet and fluffy fic, that is completed and is in my bookmarked folder so here you guys go. It is 15 chapters total.

Author's Summary: Just your normal everyday run of the mill Snape rescues smol Harry from the Dursley’s and cuteness ensues. Hopefully with a lot of feels because I love baby Harry.

4. Weeping Willow by MellarkandArt

This is a sweet and fluffy one-shot of Severus and Harry (and a bit of ron in the background) interacting after the flying car incident in their 2nd year. Some secrets are discovered about Harry by Severus, I wonder what? Lol

Author's Summary: "When Harry and Ron crash Mr. Weasley's flying Ford Anglia into the Whomping Willow, Ron broke more than just his wand. As he and Harry argue whether Ron should go to the hospital wing, a certain potion's professor makes the decision for them. This is a one-shot where Harry and Severus come to and understanding in the potions classroom. It is not as fluffy as some of the other fics on this list, but it is still good. I am giving this fic its own TW because even though it is only rated teen, there is some discussion of self harm in it.

Author's Summary: "Snape rolled his eyes. "You're not scared of blood, Potter. For one, you're a Gryffindor. For another, you seem to face down the Dark Lord with alarming regularity. If you were afraid of blood, you wouldn't have made it past your first year in this castle."

Top 10 Drarry Fic Recs

When I say the Drarry-ship saved me, I don’t kid. I stumbled upon this pairing (which is now my OTP) as I was going through a particularly anxious phase of my life. These fics made me laugh, cry and generally succeeded in distracting me from falling down a terrible anxiety spiral. 

I thought it’s only fair that I make a top 10 list in the hope that it may help others like me. I will forever be grateful to @capiturecs @justdrarryme @o0o-chibaken-o0o @sleepydrarry @drarryspecificrecs @dictacontrion @dragontamerdrarry and several others for their wonderful wonderful fic recs.

Soup-pocalypse and The Great Curry Cataclysm by SquadOfCats @norelationtoatticus (104k, E) 

Eleven years after the war, Draco Malfoy leads a quiet, boring, and perfectly respectable life, thanks very much. Or, at least he does, until a sudden and very unexpected veela awakening causes him to throw soup all over Harry Potter in the middle of the Ministry cafeteria.

This fic was just 104k words of utter perfection. The hilarious and emotional moments are so well balanced that you can’t help laugh and cry alternately at 3AM. Parent!Harry to insecure wonderful Teddy is just lovely to read. Draco’s cooking shenanigans and his relationship with his house-elves had me in fits. I highly recommend this. 

Mental by Sara Holmes (186k, M)

Harry has had quite enough of sharing his mind with someone else, thankyouverymuch. A miscast Legilimecy spell says otherwise.

What can I say about this fic that hasn’t already been said? This was the fic that took me down the Drarry rabbit hole and boy, am I glad that I took the ride. Harry and Draco’s evolving relationship is so well executed in this one. It’s the perfect enemies-to-lovers transition. Plus, legilimency SMUT and super supportive friends! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS. I would recommend everything by this author; especially Number Seven. 

Turn by Sara’s Girl (306k, E)

One good turn always deserves another. Apparently.

This one is long and will hit you right in the feels. I’m a sucker for ‘being-sucked-into-an-alternate-reality’ fics and this one is right at the top of that list. Artist!Harry, Journalist!Draco and their sassy pet snake are to die for. And little Maura is just adorable goodness. This was also the fic that made me ship Ginny/Blaise. It’s so well written and beautifully executed. Go read it!

Their best isn’t perfect.

I tend to avoid WIPs but this one is truly worth the wait. If not for the adorable Drarry, read this one for the wonderful magical theory. Alchemy, necromancy, astral projections and charms theories sent my nerdy soul into a tizzy. I love a clever (bordering on genius) Draco, and this book delivers. It also has a wonderful Sirius/Remus relationship and their attempts at parenting Harry are so so cute! Nagini, Abigail and Theophania lived up to all my parseltongue dreams. Also I’m Indian, so a desi Harry sent my heart fluttering. (I know I’m gushing now but SIAT is just THAT good.)

Over the six years Draco Malfoy has been an Auror, four of his partners have turned up dead. Harry Potter is assigned as his newest partner to investigate just what is going on.

This fic is the answer to all the AurorPartners!Drarry requests. It’s so well written and the growing sexual tension is palpable.  Their fights and banter are spot on and you end up rooting for those two so hard. I recommend everything by @firethesound. I have read at least 6 of their fics and loved each and every one.

We Are Young (I’ll Carry You Home Tonight) by @femmequixotic​ (68K, E)

Harry and Draco have been falling into bed on and off again since the last election five years ago, much to the amusement–and financial gain–of their circle of friends. But when Harry agrees to work with Draco to put Kingsley Shacklebolt into the Minister’s office, they can’t work side-by-side again every day and sleep together; that would be courting disaster. Wouldn’t it?

Friends-with-benefits, housemates and oblivious Drarry! Need I say more? Also, I LOVED all the politics in this, including a crazy screaming Blaise. Again, I recommend everything by @femmequixotic​. The writing just makes me feel so many feels!

Ahh, I don’t even know where to start with this one. Their enmity, careful hesitation, sacrifice and love had me in tears. I was so scared for them throughout their treacherous journey across the forest. This fic is super long and perfect for angst lovers. I was unable to put it down, EVEN TO SLEEP. The blood magic and clever Draco had me falling for it hard and I’m sincerely hoping there will be a sequel at some point. (Though it is old, so it’s not probable)

Harry sits his kids down and tells them a story. A very long story.

If you’re a HIMYM fan and are looking for a light Drarry fic, this one’s for you. The similarities to HIMYM were well done without being over the top while maintaining a ton of originality. The anticipation leading up to Harry and Draco’s first meeting was so good. Oh, and the ending was perfect, unlike HIMYM’s.

Men Who Love Dragons Too Much by fencer_x, IDoodleForNoodles (479K, E)

[Extensive re-telling of Deathly Hallows] ‘Kill Albus Dumbledore’ is less a challenging task and more a suicide mission, so when Draco Malfoy is presented with the option to either dispatch his Headmaster or suffer an excruciating and most ignominious death of his own, along with his parents, he reaches deep into his black little Slytherin heart and manages to scrape together enough courage to go with option C instead: Spend Sixth Year secretly studying Animagecraft in the hopes he’ll turn into something sufficiently imposing even the Dark Lord himself won’t be able to keep Draco under his thumb. But just his luck, his Animagus form turns out to be a dragon, and a rather randy juvenile at that, intent on finding its mate: one Harry James Potter.

Okay, I had to include at least one Horcruxes hunt fic. AND THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST ONE. How could it not be? Dragon Animagus Draco and his mate Harry? Recipe for perfection. It’s long and it’s an amazing read. NOW GO READ IT!

Once there was a potions accident… Ha! Harry turns five, much to the distress of the I don’t want to be a Death Eater brigade.

I love adorable de-aging fics and this one is just too cute. The storyline is a little ridiculous but read it for the relationships and the cuteness. Harry’s love for his snakes is just heart melting and Draco is at his adorablest-best. Hermione’s pet name for Harry had me crying and laughing. Hands down, the sweetest de-aging fic I’ve read and I think I could read it again and again.
