this is so interesting to think about! i'm very impulsive as a part of my FASD, and i often find myself getting excited in conversations and then interrupting because I think of something to say and don't think about waiting to say it. and then usually i apologize, and they say it's fine, i can finish what i was saying, and the whole flow of the convo is dead. (i wish when i said "sorry, continue" people did actually continue, but usually they full stop bc they think i'm not listening but really i'm very listening and getting excited about it.) i'm also pretty horrendous at telling when someone's sentence is done vs not done.

linguistics is so cool!! i've definitely thought before about the differences between neurotypical and neurodivergent conversation styles, but some of this other stuff is stuff i've never thought of before so thanks!

I have thoughts about the whole feminist anti-interrupting thing. Like I agree, men do talk over people and it is disrespectful, but I also think there are cultures, specifically Jews, where talking over each other is actually a sign of being engaged in the conversation. It’s something I really struggle with in the south, because up in New York, even non-Jews participated in this cooperative conversation style, but down here, whenever I do it by accident, the whole convo stops and it gets called out and it’s a whole thing. Idk idk I feel like there’s different types of interruptive like there’s constructive interrupting where you add on to whatever is being said - helpful interrupting, and then there’s like interrupting where you just start saying something unrelated because you were done listening. I have ADHD so I’ve def done the latter too by accident, but I’m talking about being more accepting of the former.

what if, at the beginning of A Tale of Two Stans, Dipper had remembered the memory gun off the bat? The gov is defeated, the family goes upstairs, and the younger twins know nearly nothing, except that grunkle stan is actually stanley, and apparently has a twin bro named stanford. who wrote the journals.

but why did stan take his brother's name? what is the portal and how did ford get stuck in it? why do they hate each other? dipper and mabel don't know. but they didn't do all this sleuthing all summer long to give up now. even if grunkle ford won't leave the basement.

now, dipper and mabel have to dig up history from two grumpy old men who don't care to share, and potentially other places and people around town. can the mystery twins find out what happened, and, just maybe, get their two grunkles talking to one another again?

sapphic interactions can be so fun like. once matched with a girl on tinder who had "wanna sword fight with baguettes?" in her bio. i wanted to sword fight with baguettes, so i reached out and we picked a place and time. the place was a 40 minute walk from my apartment (i had/have no car), and i got a baguette at a grocery store on the way.

met up with the girl at a park that had hiking trails. we hiked out to a prairie system, went to the top of a small hill, got on top of a picnic table, and sword fought with our baguettes. mine was harder than hers was so we traded halfway through. that shit hurt! my hands were bleeding and i was glad i had a first aid kit on me.

afterwards, she gave me a ride home and we never spoke again. i remember vaguely what she looked like but i can't remember her name or any other info.

Idk if this is weird to hop in ur ask box and say but I genuinely loved your mp100 comic so much rly enjoyed the ‘day in the life’ feel it had like you managed to capture the tone of the original manga so perfectly

i'm still very surprised multiple people like my comic tbh. i'll read comments saying "i like your art style" and think "what art style? i just can't draw". pure luck it kinda looks like the manga. my only real goal with the art of it is to make it so that people know what's going on in each panel (but also i'm not too confident in my ability to do that, so image descriptions!)

i'm also reasonably certain a lot of the people who see one part of the comic don't see the other parts. not really sure if there's something i can do to help that or if that's just how social media works???

the comic isn't finished either! i do actually have kind of a goal for it???? (disclaimer, i don't think i've ever started writing a multichapter fanfic and then also finished writing it)

so the premise is that everything is the same as canon, mob has his same powers as canon, but teruki is just a little bit stronger. so when they fight, and teru knocks mob into ???%, he's also able to contain the explosion.

this basically leaves mob, who's been terrified of his emotions/powers for years now, with someone he knows for a fact can contain them. and teru, who has been fighting off a child-esper kidnapping organization on his own, with another child esper who's weaker than him. teru, who's been holding on to this idea that he's the strongest ever because that's what makes him feel safer, with further evidence that he is in fact the strongest ever.

it's an interesting premise! (slightly inspired by this fic, in which mob ends up at teru's school and teru's his glorious unredeemed self towards him.) (side note, teru has such an interesting redemption arc! usually we see a character do bad things, then we get the rationalization why they do them, then they realize they're wrong, then they start doing better. we don't start to piece together why teru does what he does until quite a while after he realizes he's wrong and starts to change!)

anyway. i think the hardest part of writing this comic is that i have an end goal (teru gets friends and family and isn't quite so scared and relaxes a bit), but i'm not really sure how to get there. i think a lot of it will just end up being slice-of-life teru and shigeo becoming friends while in this strange dynamic.

i also really think that having shigeo (and also reigen) be weaker than teru gives a very unique opportunity to show teru that people who love you don't have to be stronger than you to want to and try to and maybe succeed in protecting you.

my point is that almost no one in car-dependent countries gets to choose between cars and transit. no one gets a choice. you can either afford a car or you can't. there's transit that will get you where you need/want to go in a timely manner or there isn't. very very few people in car dependent countries both can and do have a car and also have good quality public transit. it's not about comfort. it's about necessity. for most of us at least.

the issue with "people should be able to do whatever is more comfortable" is that cars and transit are in direct competition. for funding, for space, for how we design cities. cities that have room for every business to have its own parking lot are too spread out for public transit to be effective. places that need to constantly repair roads that are being worn down have less money to give to transit. it's not "people should be able to have either". they're in direct competition.

the difference between transit and cars is that making cities more transit friendly/walkable reduces pollution, makes cities more accessible for young, old, poor, and disabled people, and saves money, and makes cities more beautiful by not needing to pave over so much area for parking lots. making cities more car-friendly gets us the exact opposite of all these goals.

edit: again, not judging people for driving cars. as i've said, most people don't have a choice in how they commute. i understand. but let's not frame it as a preference issue between two equally valid choices, because it isn't. it's a non-choice of necessity between something that does work but is terrible and something that would be amazing if it actually worked well.

People who have never taken public transit before seem to be under the impression that everyone on a bus is ready to stab you meanwhile I have never had that problem and I get to read while I’m stuck in traffic and they don’t.

Also I don’t get stuck in traffic much anyways because the drivers keep going on the freeway even though it gets clogged up with traffic and it’s literally faster to drive on the surface streets where the busses go but whatever I don’t need to pay for a gym membership because I walk to the bus and meanwhile what are you spending your money on? Oil changes so you can keep getting stuck in traffic?

It’s so weird to me seeing people equate being a “fandom old” to being an adult with a full time job. (1) I’m an adult with a full time job and I’m def not a fandom old. I’m 22. My first fandoms had fics written years before i ever started reading fics. (2) i don’t get why you’re pretending kids just sit around writing fanfic all day? Like?? They have school??? And a lot of them also have jobs or extracurriculars too?? Like let’s not diminish minors by suggesting they do nothing with their lives besides fanfic.

Pros of being a Fandom Old: - never have to worry about my mom finding out about my porn fic - have seen it all before and give few if any fucks

Cons of being a Fandom Old: - forced to work at actual job instead of writing fic all day - have seen it all before and get regular “ugh not again” moments

Tried to redesign the riders to be a little more believable? … as in convincing but not historically accurate? Tried taking the ac:Valhalla approach, I think they look kinda cool (pls ignore hiccup he was my test & I can’t get him to look any better but this is more abt design than polish I guess)

The helmets were kind of a nightmare and irl Viking’s defo wouldn’t wear any of those designs but I wanted it to still feel like their helmets. Snotlout esp needed his horns they’re too cute I’m sorry.
