Oh my, why were we obsessed with Furiadoro in a suit and tie in 2011? She doesn't like wearing a jacket and tie, she would like to go around naked (or at most in a tracksuit). But oh well, it seemed to us that she was fine and so... here she is, with all her possible forms (at least the feral one doesn't have a tie!). Aside from the evolution of Furia's design, we can't help but notice how the illustration style at the time was influenced by certain manga styles.

Che dire, Danny Phantom ci ha inghiottiti e il risultato è che abbiamo iniziato questa raccolta di ficlet/capitoli (non esattamente capitoli, ma non esattamente ficlet, rimaniamo liberi e sciolti) di Danny Phantom, incentrati sul tema della complessità delle relazioni, dei punti di vista e (soprattutto) sull'inesplorata e fraterna amicizia fra Skulker e Vlad Masters/Plasmius.

Nel primo "capitolo", una scena canonica (presa dall'episodio Bitter Reunions) dal punto di vista di Skulker. Oh boy, ci sarà da divertirsi :)

E poi, per la prima volta, i Cactus di Fuoco si cimentano anche con la versione inglese!

hey @furiarossa could you give me a quick summary about the types of werewolves in you're. I know a bit about the golden wolfen. But not much else about the other breeds.

Hi anon, thank you for your question! We like to talk about our species :)

Our "werewolves", or in general sentient (and sometimes humanoid) wolf-beast species, are divided in two categories:

Werewolves (genus Lupus) and Lycanthropes (genus Homolupus).

They're quite different from each other! In our version, werewolves can't (at least not naturally) transform into humans, while lycans are shapeshifters.

One of our werewolves, Mark McWoodland:

For reasons that we will talk about at length later, there are no very in-depth studies regarding the origins of this fascinating species, but it is believed that the most probable ancestor is the Xenocyon lycaonoides, a large canid that lived in the Pleistocene, between 1.8 million years and 30,000 years ago. Interestingly, werewolves share this (probable) common ancestor with aurolupus werewolves. According to some, repeated crossings with werewolves have over time modified the rough appearance of werewolves to bring them to the "version" known to us today, although they are not capable of changing shape, but this is only a theory that is not supported by many scholars.

At first glance, the werewolf resembles a werewolf in its "full moon form" in several ways: it is a large canid with long arms, with big and vaguely anthropomorphic hands, capable of walking upright on its hind legs although it prefers to move on all fours. the limbs, with a gait similar to that of gorillas. In reality it differs consistently from a werewolf: it is not capable of transforming, it has longer and more robust arms, a long bushy tail (werewolves often have vestigial or even absent tails), shorter and more bowed legs, dark and proportionately large nails, but the first difference perceived by eye is the size.

If werewolves during the full moon often have a size slightly larger than that of their human form, werewolves instead exhibit a shocking size, with a height always higher than two meters, long muscular arms and very large hands with strong curved claws that can be used to dig, climb trees or buildings, and grab prey. Although this size is renowned and the danger of these beasts is exalted in stories, when you find yourself in front of one of them, often seeing it come out of its lair from which it does not go far, you cannot help but be surprised by their large and strong bodies, albeit with a slender bone structure.

Small African werewolf or cefusa (Lupus hominarium africanus)

Curiously, the common name by which the genus is known has a similar meaning, but comes from the Greek λύκος lýkos, "wolf" and ἄνθρωπος ánthropos, "man".

The aurolupus (also known as goldenwolfen) are a species of canine/primate shapeshifter very often confused with true lycanthropes (Homolupus homolupus) or werewolves (Lupus hominarium), but capable of hybridizing with both. They are extremely rare and dangerous. Often they sport sable/yellow/ochre fur color, and that's from where their name comes from (aurus is the latin name for gold).

The White Terror (extinct)

White terrors are an extinct species of lycans belonging to the homolupus genus, particularly known for their unpredictable and aggressive temperament, as well as for their often white or light gray fur, which allows them to disappear completely in the snow.

White Terrors are instantly recognizable when compared to other werewolves due to their long snout that resembles that of a borzoi and their dense, wavy fur. Usually the ears, being sensitive to the cold, are kept folded and carefully hidden in the thick mane.

Hybridization

The genetic "flexibility" of werewolves is admirably shown in the ability to interbreed with other species, sometimes even belonging to different families, producing fertile offspring. Hybridization generally occurs with individuals belonging to one of the two species with which werewolves have cohabited in vast areas for millennia, namely humans and werewolves.

This is one scene from ¨Torrent of Terror¨ that stands out to me for some reason. I think it is the way that Danny is in a battle stance but when Vlad approaches him and doesn't try attacking him, Danny changes his posture to a relaxed one and listens to what Vlad has to say. In response Vlad's angry face changes into something different (surprised? confused?) and then asks Danny for his help.

Maybe because it shows that if Vlad isn't doing anything bad nor Danny is looking to fight him... they wouldn't just normally attack each other? They would continue doing whatever they were doing and ignore each other. Maybe they would just throw insult but not much else.

I don't know. I just found interesting.

Except that Danny attacks first and ruthlessly in (not a complete list, because I watched the series practically just once and I need to rewatch it. I may add others later):

Bitter Reunions, literally the first time they met, Danny starts it, attacking a non-threatening ghost who is literally in his own house (there's always that gif of him going around, were Danny is like "oh no, I don't want to fight!", but he actually attacked Vlad two times before noticing that Vlad is too strong for him, and only then begs him to stop, probably because he's rightfully scared. Then Vlad proceeds to beat him senseless).

Masters of All Time (he first refuses to help Vlad who is literally sick and going to die and then, when he's very weak at the end of the episodes, he beats him up and throws him away. Danny beats up a weak guy who still is recovering)

Reign Storm, where even the episode here underlines how Danny attacks first. "Sneak attack, very good, Daniel". Vlad was resting against a car and Danny broke a streetlight to literally attack him in the dark (so that Valerie can't see him doing it).

An Eye for an Eye (in which the attack is not personally against the physical person of Vlad, but he sents to his home the GIW, who destroy it. What if they found out he was a ghost? WHAT IF, DANNY? And also, stupid senseless pranks).

A Glitch in Time (where Vlad is just begging for help, on his knees, damaged and beaten after the encounters with Clockwork and Dark Danny, and all the kids start beating him, electrocuting him and stuff. Vlad doesn't throw a single punch back).

Special notes:

In the Ultimate Enemy, is the ghost of Danny Phantom (not Danny Fenton itself, tho) who splits Vlad in half, extracting the ghost from him, and then assimilating Plasmius to become Dark Danny. Definitely an unprovoked attack... and despite what Vlad says about danny adsorbing his "evil ghost", we see Danny Phantom overshadowing a not-moving, probably unconscius Plasmius (we checked, he doesn't make a single movement and his eyes are closed), and then overriding him completely.

My theory is that Danny attacks Vlad both for defending himself or when he thinks that he's weak (a bit of a cowardly behavior, must add). He's scared by the idea of confronting him when he's in full power, that's why in Torrent of Terror he doesn't fight back: he knows he would be defeated in 0.2 seconds. Every single time that Vlad is serious about the fight, for him is pretty easy to defeat Danny. But yeah, usually he isn't, he's like those big tigers that fake being scared by cubs to teach them how to ambush preys and to boost their self-esteem.

Their relationship is complicated and they can't stop beating each other, apparently, but Danny is definitely no saint and he often does totally not-heroic stuff. And that's right! He's just fourteen, he's learning, he's traumatized and in need of help (and mentorship) and I like my characters like this: nuanced.

Anyway, this is just my point of view! Your interpretation is totally valid, if you want to see it like this, I just wanted to add some context to it (and some of my personal thoughts).
