Being born blind certainly came with it’s challenges. It was something that made life difficult, for sure, but it also had it’s set of advantages.
Ominis had grown more than used to the dark world he navigated through daily, his other senses had seemed to adapt as well, almost overcompensating for the one he lacked. He considered himself to be a very perceptive person, especially due to the fact he lacked eyesight.
He’d been the first person to pick up on your change in attitude. His ears recognized your sudden dreary tone, he could almost feel your deamnor shift into one of resignation and weariness. It was so different from the Y/N he was used to, he wondered how no one else had noticed.
It bothered him, the way things had changed between you two, and while you tried to act like nothing was wrong, he knew better. You weren’t being rude when you turned him away, you were simply exhausted. He could tell you needed time to yourself – he had his own ways of knowing. You didn’t want to bother anyone if you could help it.
But it had been months of this and Ominis’ concern was growing by the day. The way you had become so distant with everyone, even the people who meant the most to you, was worrisome. And it just wasn’t you.
He’d spent countless days trying to approach you to talk, but the last thing he wanted was to make matters worse, so each time he found the courage to do so only to find the conversation falling flat at his hands.
When he finally managed to ask what was bothering you so much, you brushed him off, doing your best to assure him everything was normal. But Ominis saw straight through it all, despite how good at lying you thought you were.
But he dropped it. If you weren’t ready to talk, he wasn’t going to force you. At least, not yet.
—————————
“Have you noticed anything strange about Y/N lately?” Sebastian asked, pulling Ominis’ attention away from the parchment sprawled out in front of him.
“I can’t believe you’ve only just noticed,” the blonde remarked, turning his gaze towards the other boy with a sigh. “Of course I have.”
Sebastian frowned, tilting his head questioningly. “What do you mean? When did you notice?”
“I don’t know… maybe a couple months ago? I’ve tired to ask her about it, but she told me she was fine. Obviously, I don’t believe that for a second, but I can’t force her to tell me.” Ominis scratched absentmindedly at his arm, trying hard to keep his frustration to himself.
“I’m worried, Ominis. Poppy told me Y/N’s been having nightmares. They’ve gotten bad enough that she woke up screaming in the middle of the night.” That caught Ominis’ attention quickly, the blonde sitting up straighter in his seat.
“Y/N wouldn’t tell Poppy what they were about, but she seemed pretty concerned.”
Ominis could feel the frustration growing in his body. He was well aware it wasn’t fair to be upset with the girl, she was clearly dealing with something, but he just wish she’d confide in him. He hated that Y/N continued to suffer in silence when she was surrounded by friends who only wanted to help.
Ominis abruptly stood, leaving his things spread out on the common room table, making large steps towards the exit.
“Where are you going?” Sebastian called after him, looking bewildered.
“I’m going to find Y/N.”
He left without another word, walking briskly towards the Astronomy tower. He remembered Y/N telling him she liked to star gaze when she couldn’t sleep, maybe that was where he’d find her.
The walk there only took a few minutes at his quick pace, but he couldn’t help the unease that had crept into his body. As he approached the tower, he felt his heart rate begin to pick up its pace.
His thoughts were racing when he finally reached the top of the steps, taking them two at a time in search for her.
“Ominis?” Her voice was soft but surprised, and he stopped dead at the sound of it. “What are you doing up here?”
He approached you cautiously, unsure of what to say next, “I was looking for you.” He heard the small sigh that fell from your lips, the rustle of your clothes as you stood.
“Whatever it is, it’s probably best we wait until tomorrow. It’s late, Ominis. You should get some rest,” you spoke softly, causing the boy to frown. He should’ve expected you to dismiss his concern yet again.
“No,” he spoke firmly, completely aware that his body was blocking your way through. This had gone on too long, he would not let this continue.
“No?”
“No, Y/N. I can’t watch you suffer anymore and I won’t let you push the help I’m offering you to the side yet again.” He spoke with such conviction that it was almost a little intimidating, especially coming from someone as kind as Ominis usually was.
You weren’t going to crack that easily though. You gently placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to push him back enough you could squeeze through. “I’m serious, Ominis. I’ll be fine, just go back to the common room.”
His hand quickly wrapped around your wrist, keeping you exactly where you were. “If you can’t trust me to help you in your time of need then why should I trust you when you say you’re fine?”
Ominis hadn’t meant to sound so angry, but he could help the hurt slowly growing in the pit of his stomach. He considered Y/N one of his closest friends, (he sometimes thought of her as more than that), she was one of the few people he undoubtedly trusted. Did she not share that sentiment with him?
“Let go of me,” you said quietly. There was a slight tremor to your voice, betraying your emotions. He used his taller frame to walk you back to the railing behind you, his arms moving to trap you against the metal. Your eyes widened, unable to fight him off.
“Please, Y/N….just tell me what’s wrong,” his tone was softer than it had been before, his words full of desperation and genuine care. You could see the worry on his features and you could feel the walls you’d put up slowly cracking.
It was silent for a few moments, you debating on whether or not to confide in him, and Ominis desperately wanting to know what was plaguing you. The tension in the air was heavy and thick, it was getting harder and harder to breathe under the pressure.
Eventually, you sighed, giving in.
“No one asked how I was doing during our fifth-year. They put a wand in my hand and suddenly it was my duty to save Hogwarts. They gave me a role to play, a responsibility to uphold.” You paused, furiously trying to blink back the wetness steadily growing in your eyes. Ominis stayed quiet, allowing you to finish before giving his input.
“No one cared that I was a child dealing with the weight of the world. No one noticed or cared about how I was feeling, no one noticed how much it was hurting me. And every single person that should’ve known didn’t care.”
Ominis slowly moved his body back, a sense of shame washing over him. He hadn’t realized how much it all had taken out of you, and now he was forcing you to relive it for some selfish need of his.
“You all just looked at me and saw my magic, not the teenager who needed help.”
The sadness in your voice nearly broke Ominis’ heart, he nearly collapsed when the first sob reached his ears.
Without hesitation, he pulled you into his arms, wrapping his arms tightly around you, holding onto you with both arms as if his life depended on it. His face pressed against the crown of your head, letting you cry onto his shoulder while he held you close.
For a moment, you forgot all about the tears that were streaming down your cheeks. All your pain melted away the longer you buried yourself against him, feeling his heartbeat calm down your own heartache. His warmth radiated from him, warming you up in a way nothing else could.
After a few minutes, you calmed down entirely, feeling more relaxed than you had in weeks. You pulled back slightly from the embrace, looking directly at the blonde, wiping the tears from your eyes.
“I’m sorry you went through everything by yourself. If I’d known, I would’ve done more to support you,” he whispered, cupping your cheek in his palm. “And I’m sorry I didn’t notice how much pain you’ve been carrying until now.” His thumb caressed the corner of your eye, wiping the remnants of stray tears.
“I didn’t tell you all of that for an apology, I’m not angry, Ominis,” you assured, leaning into his touch. “It wasn’t your fault. I don’t blame you.”
“It still hurts to think I failed to notice all your struggles.”
“You and Sebastian were dealing with struggles of your own, it’s okay.”
“Struggles that you helped carry. You went out of your way to help so many people, the least we could’ve done was notice how much you were cracking under the pressure.”
Without much thought, you placed your hand on top of his, pulling your lips up into a small smile. “Don’t do that to yourself, Ominis. Stop blaming yourself. You’ve always been a source of light for me, I promise.”
His eyebrows rose in surprise, “Really?”
“Really. I’m grateful to have met you.” Your words made Ominis blush deeply, making your heart skip a beat. His own smile grew wider once he recovered and he brushed the tip of his finger across the edge of your mouth lightly. A shiver ran down your spine, your heart pounding in your chest.
“I wish to always be that light for you, Y/N. If you’ll have me.” His expression seemed pleading, begging for your answer.
As if on instinct, you leaned in to press a quick kiss to his soft bottom lip. A soft gasp escaped you as soon as he responded by placing his fingers on either side of your face, deepening the kiss.
His lips were warm against yours, his tongue slipping between them and exploring every inch of your mouth. You couldn’t contain the sigh that left your lips, relaxing into him as he continued the kiss.
This was what you wanted, you told yourself. To be loved like this. To be desired. And you found it, in the arms of another human being, you found happiness.

You felt almost…numb. Your feet touched the familiar stone of the undercroft, your mind racing to try and rationalize what has just happened. Flashes of Solomon’s lifeless body kept running past your eyes, how could you have let it get this far?
Sebastian was pacing in the far left of the room, muttering to himself quietly. Ominis’ footsteps stopped behind you, his hand coming up to rest on your shoulder.
You turned to face the boy, his solemn expression mirroring yours. “We should talk first, give Sebastian a chance to sort out his mind,” Ominis suggested. “There’s something we should discuss, anyway.”
You didn’t respond, following him to the opposite side of the room, far enough away Sebastian wouldn’t be able to hear.
“Anne reached out to me before I had time to talk to the headmaster, she told me what happened in the catacombs. When I arrived in Feldcroft, she was beside herself with grief. She’s torn, Y/N. The last thing she wants right now is to lose Sebastian, but a part of her wants to turn him in. He’s gone too far, maybe too far to go back.”
You suddenly noticed the full ache in your head, everything that had happened with Sebastian until this point was finally taking it’s toll. You were tired, physically and emotionally drained.
“Can’t we talk to him first? Surely now he can see what he’s done. If only he’d listened to us before it got to this point,” you replied, leaning against the wall, feeling your strength slowly leaving your body. “Maybe if I talk to him first…maybe this time, he’ll listen.”
You could tell Ominis was hesitant, not wanting to put either of you in Sebastian’s line of fire, but the need for closure outweighed the danger. “If it comes down to it and he won’t listen, then we go to the headmaster. But give me a chance, Ominis.”
Ominis nodded reluctantly, though clearly still doubtful about you being able to change his friend’s mind. “I’m not leaving the undercroft though.”
Your sore feet carried you closer to Ominis, wrapping him a gentle hug. Everything had taken a toll on you, but you could only imagine what Ominis was feeling. Sebastian was his oldest friend, he clearly cared about Anne a great deal as well.
“Whatever happens, we’ll figure it out,” you whispered, giving Ominis a soft squeeze. You could tell he wanted to believe you, but his fear was evident in the tension of his body.
You broke apart from the embrace after a few moments, letting go of him. He gave you a weak smile, but you turned, slowly walking over to where Sebastian was still pacing.
“Sebastian? We need to talk about Solomon,” you said softly, trying your best not to startle him out of whatever thoughts he was currently having. His head turned towards you, feet finally stilling. His expression was hard to read, you’d hoped for guilt, maybe fear, but whatever he was feeling, it left an unsettling pit in your stomach.
“You saw what happened back there. Solomon had it coming, Y/N. I did what I had to do for Anne.”
You shook your head. “Sebastian, at this point, you have to know that isn’t true! Anne wants to turn you in! You saw her in the catacombs, she’s scared, Sebastian. All that you’ve done is pushed her away!”
Sebastian took a deep breath, running his fingers through his short hair in frustration. “She can’t turn me in! I didn’t have a choice! You have to understand, I don’t know how else to help her! Dark magic has to be the key! I plan to do everything in my power to save her, Solomon was in the way.”
His words scared you, but you did your best to hide it. This is far from how you hoped this conversation would go. You were hoping for some compassion, a confession of guilt on his part. Not this cold, calculated logic.
“Sebastian, you’re not listening to me! I’ve had enough of this! If you don’t stop meddling in the dark arts, we will have you turned in. This isn’t worth it anymore!” You yelled at him, tears pricking the corners of your eyes. He didn’t reply. Instead, he just stared straight ahead, looking completely detached. It hurt you deeply to see him like this, you weren’t sure who you truly wanted to reach out to more; Anne or Sebastian. Maybe even both.
When he finally responded, his voice was quieter, an eerie calm to his tone. “My sister’s life is in danger. Everyday, she’s slowly withering away more and more. I’ll do whatever I have to to stop it.” His eyes stared dead into yours, completely unfaltering. “Do you understand me?”
You stared back at him for a moment, anger growing as he held your gaze. You wanted to scream again, to lash out at him and ask him why he was doing this. He was hurting others, himself included, because he believed the darkness inside him was the answer.
You stood up straighter, and, with your wand clutched tightly in your first, you pointed it at him.
“Either stop, or I’ll stop you myself. We’ve dueled before, Sebastian. I think we both know which one of us is stronger. I understand you want to help her, but this isn’t the way to go about it. You’ve gone too far.” You spoke in low, deliberate tones, keeping your hands steady, and your gaze unwavering. You were ready for the inevitable backlash. You’d be lying if you said you weren’t scared, now that you knew he thought himself to cast the killing curse, your life could end in an instant.
But you needed to do this. You’d been trying to talk him out of this since the minute he started, and yet you let him get to this point. It was your responsibility to talk him down, to force him to realize the reality of the situation. There was no other option.
Sebastian’s demeanor remained unchanged, seemingly unaffected by the wand pointed in his direction. “You can’t stop me. You want me to stop that bad? Then prove it. If you think you’re strong enough to stop me, then do it!”
He took a few steps closer to you, your wand inches away from his skin. The look in his eyes just further proved his point, he wasn’t scared. He seemed so sure of himself, so determined. You tried not to show the anxiety building inside you, your heart starting to pound loudly.
“Sebastian, please! I don’t want to hurt you, I just need you to listen to me! For once, please!” Your voice cracked slightly, your grip tightening around your wand. This was your last chance, if he didn’t stop now, you wouldn’t have a choice.
You could feel Ominis’ body standing behind yours, ready to help if Sebastian didn’t back down. You gently put your arm in front of him, keeping him behind you while you waited for Sebastian’s response.
The brunette’s eyes never left yours, his expression angry, but a glint of sorrow flashed across his orbs. His fists were clenched tightly at his sides, and suddenly, he looked as if he was about to cry. He closed his eyes tightly and took a deep breath.
“I’ll stop.”
Sebastian replied after a few seconds, lowering his head slightly. A pang of relief filled your chest, but you couldn’t let yourself relax.
“Really?” You asked tentatively, still holding your wand close to him.
Another deep sigh escaped his lips. He his reopened his eyes, they were wet, tears threatening to spill down his cheeks. He was breathing heavily, his body almost trembling.
You felt another wave of sadness wash over you. Sebastian really was suffering, you hadn’t known how badly until now, and you wanted nothing more than to help him.
You slowly lowered your wand, still keeping your distance from the boy, but letting your body relax a little. Sebastian looked back up at you, eyes filled with sadness, guilt, and pain.
“I’m sorry. I let my emotions cloud my judgment. I can’t bear the thought of losing my sister, I just wanted to help her. I’m sorry I let think go this far, I wish I could go back, but what’s done is done. I can’t undo the harm I’ve caused. I’m sorry, Y/N.”
He sounded tired, defeated. It was clear that he regretted what he’d done. You had expected him to try to justify himself, to explain himself. You were shocked to hear his admittance. He had a lot weighing on his shoulders, but you couldn’t bring yourself to yell or shout anymore.
You finally took a few steps closer to him, your eyes focused on his face, searching for any signs of deceit. You knew what he’d done was wrong, but you also knew that he did it for a reason. He was desperate, and the idea of seeing Anne die terrified him.
And yet, despite all his flaws, he was still human, and he cared deeply about you. Even if he was acting irrationally at times, he cared for you. You had to believe that he still had good intentions.
“Promise me, all of this is over. No more dark magic, no more unforgivable curses.” Your tone was softer, tired of yelling at the boy. Your heart ached for him, for Anne.
“I promise, no more. I’m done with the dark arts. It’s over, I swear.” He looked ashamed, but you knew that he meant every word he said.
You nodded slowly. He was sincere. He was going to give it all up. It felt good to have the burden off of you, but there was still more you had to say.
“Sebastian…there’s something else. I think it’s best if you give Anne her space for now. Let things calm down some before you reach out to her.” You watched his face carefully, expecting any sign of resistance. You saw none.
His face grew even sadder, if that was even possible. “Are you telling me she doesn’t want to see me?” He asked quietly, his eyes full of disappointment.
“She’s hurt. She deserves some time to sort through her feelings, to come to terms with everything. Please try to respect that.”
Sebastian nodded solemnly, accepting your words. You felt your hand reach out and grasp his, giving it a gentle squeeze.
“I’ll leave her alone. I’ve already don’t enough damage.” His eyes drifted upwards to meet yours, a single tear falling down his cheek.
You couldn’t stand it any longer. Before you could stop yourself, you moved forwards, wrapping him in a tight hug. You squeezed your eyes shut and buried your face in his shoulder, taking a shuddering gasp.
“It’ll be okay, Sebastian. Just give it time.” You breathed against his neck, hugging him tighter. “We’ll all work together to figure this out. We’ll find a solution.”
Sebastian slowly wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him, pressing his head into your hair. He sighed shakily.
“What about us? Can you forgive me?”
You hesitated, taking a few moments to consider your reply. When you finally answered, your voice was quiet.
“I’m not sure I fully trust you, but I won’t push you away. As long as you keep your promise,” You looked up at him, smiling weakly, “then we’ll make it past this.”
He nodded a bit. “You have my word, I’ll do whatever it takes to clean up the mess I made.” His grip tightened ever so slightly around you, you could feel a hint of warmth radiating from where his hands pressed into your skin.

I loved you so much || O.G.

"Remember Professor Sharp?"
Ominis' head turns in the direction of your voice, eyebrows raised in surprise at the sudden question. "Yes, of course, but it has been a while since either of us has seen him, hasn't it?"
"It has. Doesn't it all feel like forever ago?"
"Why are you thinking of Hogwarts? Missing classes?" He lightly teases, shifting his body closer to yours on the mattress, instinctively raising his arm to drape around your shoulders as you move to rest your head on his chest. 'We fit so well together', Ominis thought. His arm seemed to be sculpted just for this purpose. He wondered if you felt the same way.
"Definitely not. I'm just thinking," Y/N hums, smiling softly. "You never think about school?" You look up at Ominis, curious blue eyes studying his features.
"I suppose I do. It would be hard not to after our fifth year," he admits, running his fingers through your hair, brushing away some stray strands before tucking them behind your ear. You let out a small sigh. "We met in our fifth year," you mention quietly. The memories were still vivid in both of your minds. "Feeling nostalgic, darling?" Ominis' smile is crooked when he asks. You nod and nuzzle yourself closer into him, pressing soft kisses along his shoulder. It's a little chilly tonight, but Ominis can't find it in himself to mind much, not when he's got you tucking into his side.
"We've grown a lot since then," he adds thoughtfully, stroking your back tenderly with one hand.
"I loved you so much," you speak, the statement coming out quietly. "Obviously, I still do, I seem to love you more and more everyday, but I can't believe how much I loved you back then." Your breath tickles against Ominis' skin. His heart clenches when he hears that.
"I feel the same." Thinking back on it, Ominis couldn't remember a single moment he hadn't been completely enraptured by you. He'd never known he had this much room in his heart for one person until he met you, this is.
"Really?"
"What do you mean 'really'?"
"You've loved me since we were teenagers?"
He chuckles. "Of course I have. Does that come as a surprise to you?" Your fingers reach out to intertwine with his, your shoulders lifting in a small shrug. "I suppose it does a little bit. I thought it was more recent for you. I hadn't realized we felt the same at that time." You give Ominis a gentle squeeze.
He smiled gently, resting his head atop yours.
You two had definitely taken your time in realizing your feelings were reciprocated, but with all the events that had happened in your fifth-year, that was to be expected. Ominis didn't mind much, he had you now, which made everything worth it in the end. He almost thought it was better that it'd taken so long, things were easier now. Ominis had left his family for good, there was no imminent threat for you to face, life was finally simple.
"We got there in the end, didn't we?" An easy smile was resting on his lips and you returned the sentiment. You could agree wholeheartedly with that sentiment. After what you and Ominis went through, how happy the two of you had become, how close the two of you were... it made perfect sense for everything to work out the way it had.
"I just feel like we lost so much time. So much time we could've spent exactly as we are now." You rolled onto your stomach, hands gently moving to cup the blonde boy's face. "I plan on spending the rest of my life making up for lost time," you declared.
Ominis' breath caught in his throat. The suggestion that this was going to last the rest of your lives caught him off guard. His heart began pounding a little harder, his hands moving to rest on your hips. "I should hope so," he finally responded, his warm breath fanning over your cheeks. "There's nothing I could ever want more."
"I don't know that I'll ever understand how I got so lucky." There was fondness laced throughout your words, as if you knew how rare and precious it was to have someone as special as Ominis. "You're not as lucky as I am, my love." He opened his mouth once more to whisper those three little words, but you cut him off, pressing your lips to his gingerly. Ominis quickly swallowed his words and responded to your affection, kissing you back with equal passion.
When you parted a minute later, your faces remain close to one another's, your hands still holding his face. "I love you, Ominis."
It's as if Ominis feels the words as they leave your mouth. It's in his pulse, those words are the reason he has a pulse.
"I love you too, Y/N."

"Y/N, is Steve really just a friend?" Your stomach dropped, a sick feeling filling up your body as the words reached your ears. You wished you could tell him no, but you knew if there was any time to tell him, it was now. "No." You voice was barely a whisper and if Eddie hadn't been standing so close, you were sure he wouldn't have heard it.
He did hear it though, his eyes fell away from your face, a dejected look taking over his features as he took a few steps away from you. You weren't sure what to do, you had truly never intended on doing this to him, he deserved so much better, but there wasn't much you could do about that now.
After a moment of silence, he looked back up at you, anguish written across his features as you watched in horror at the tears running down his cheeks. "What is he then?" He asked softly.
You hesitated before answering him, unsure as to how to even begin explaining that. The last thing you wanted was to cause the boy more hurt, but you had to tell him the truth, there was no way around it. "A-at first he was just a friend, but before you and I met, I started falling for him-" you paused, your heart pounding loudly against your chest as the words escaped your lips. "-but he was with Nancy, and then I met you and I fell for you. But when the demobats attacked him the Upside Down-" you paused again, the words stuck on your tongue like glue, unable to form a coherent sentence.
You swallowed and tried again, forcing yourself to keep talking despite the pain you knew it would cause Eddie.
"-he kissed me. And I kissed him back.” Tears filled your eyes as you struggled to force out the words. You didn't dare look up at Eddie, you didn't want to see the expression he was likely wearing while hearing you say these things, you felt bad enough already.
Eddie stayed quiet, and when he spoke after a long pause, his voice was strained. "So you’ve been lying to me for months?” When you finally met his eyes, his face seemed pained.
He looked as if he was about to break, tears streaming down his face just a bit faster than before, hands clenched at his sides.
“I-I wanted to help. After everything happened, you’ve been struggling and it’s not that I don’t love you, I-I do, I just-“ He cut you off.
“It obviously didn’t matter if you loved me or not, Y/N,” he said quietly, shaking his head, his eyes locked with yours, his voice growing stronger, more forceful with each word. “It didn’t matter to you when you kissed Harrington.” His eyes narrowed at the mention of his so-called friend’s name.
“Do you want to be with him?” He asked, plunging the room back into silence afterwards. The question hit you like a truck, it sent a sharp pain into your heart and made you feel cold as ice.
“Yes,” you whispered, nodding slowly. It wasn’t an answer. It was a simple statement, true, but not one that you thought you were ready to give. The realization left you feeling weak and vulnerable, your chest rising and falling quickly. It only added to the guilt coursing through you.
“Then why are you still here?” He asked, his tone bitter now, anger flaring once again behind the tears clouding his beautiful eyes.
You opened your mouth but you couldn’t speak, you were at loss as to how to respond. “Because I don’t want to hurt you, Eddie. Please believe me, you deserved better.” You pleaded silently as tears began spilling over.
You hated to see him like this. Hated that you had done this to him, the one person who meant the world to you. If you had never fallen for Steve, this wouldn’t have ever come to pass.
“I think you should go, Y/N,” he told you, his voice barely above a whisper. “Please leave,” he quietly begged, his eyes searching yours, his brow creased with grief and sadness. You almost wanted to reach out to him, take his hand and hold onto him tightly to stop him from crying like this, but you held yourself back.
“Okay,” you replied shakily, your own voice shaky as you nodded. With slow movements, you turned towards the door. As you walked away, you could feel his gaze burning holes in your back, watching until you closed the door behind you.
——————————-
Steve was in bed when he heard the knock on his door, he almost didn’t hear it, his thoughts too wrapped around you as the memories of your kiss played on repeat through his head.
When the knocking repeated itself he forced himself up out of bed, stumbling slightly as he crossed the room, trying not to run into anything.
Finally he opened the door only to find you standing there with bloodshot eyes and blotchy cheeks. He immediately let you inside the house, eyes scanning your face as you entered and shutting the door softly behind you.
“Hey, what happened?” He asked, hands moving automatically to pull you closer, enveloping you in his arms. “I told him.” Your voice was quiet, muffled into his bare chest, your arms wrapping around his waist, clinging to him as tight as you could possibly manage.
Steve squeezed you tighter, trying to comfort you without saying another word, letting his actions speak for themselves as he rubbed circles along your shoulder blades soothingly.
Eventually, you pulled away, wiping your cheeks free of tears with the sleeve of your hoodie. When you pulled back, Steve could see the dried trails still on your cheeks, leaving red marks where they had been.
“Guess he didn’t take it very well,” Steve commented, reaching up to brush away some of the tears that continued trailing down your cheek. It didn’t work entirely, a few remained, glistening on the tip of your nose and your upper lip as he cupped the side of your face.
He swiped them away, his thumb grazing lightly over your lower lip and eliciting a soft sigh from you. “Yeah.”
“I’m sorry,” Steve murmured, kissing your forehead gently before pulling away. “You okay?” He looked you over carefully, searching your face for answers.
You nodded hesitantly. “I just need a couple of minutes,” you said quietly, allowing him to lead you up to his bedroom.
Once seated next to each other on the edge of the mattress, Steve reached out to squeeze your knee gently. You returned the gesture by intertwining your fingers with his, squeezing his hand.
Neither of you spoke for a while. You sat in silence, the sounds of cars and birds singing outside his window filling the space between them. Eventually, Steve broke the silence.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, looking away from you, staring at the floor in front of him. “For what?” You questioned, looking at him curiously. Steve didn’t turn his head, kept his eyes trained firmly in front of him as he replied.
“I shouldn’t have kissed you, you were happy with Eddie before I ruined it,” he confessed in a quiet voice. You shook your head lightly, smiling sadly.
“Don’t apologize,” you whispered. “I kissed you back, remember? This isn’t on you, I think a part of me always had feelings for you, even after meeting Eddie. All you did was force me to deal with them.”
Steve nodded. “I can’t help but feel guilty about this whole thing.” He frowned, shaking his head and looking back up at you, eyes full of sorrow and remorse.
“Don’t, please,” you whispered, giving his hand a gentle tug. “I forgive you.” Your voice sounded firm as you spoke, your eyes shining with honesty and sincerity.
Steve smiled, pulling you closer to him, pressing another kiss to your forehead. “So what happens now?” he whispered, resting his chin on top of your head, his breath caressing your hair.
“Guess we just figure it out as we go,” you sighed, smiling slightly at the thought. He chuckled and pulled away just a bit, eyes looking down to meet yours. “Wanna start by laying down?” He nodded toward the bed, motioning towards the space next to him.
You obliged and shuffled your body so that you lay on your back, pulling the covers over yourself. He mirrored your movements, curling up on his side against the wall as you watched him closely, noticing how tired he really looked. His eyes drifted shut for a moment, before opening again.
He turned his head to look at you, smiling slightly as he brushed the stray strands of hair away from your face. “Go to sleep,” he mumbled quietly, a small smirk tugging at his lips. You hummed lightly in agreement, smiling softly at the sight of his peaceful face and sleepy smile.
You leaned forward, kissing him softly. After a short period of time you pulled away, leaning back into his embrace. “Goodnight, Steve” you spoke as your eyes fluttered close. He pressed a kiss to your temple and responded. “G'night, Y/N.”

I think you’re adorable || E.M.

Eddie’s eyes were full of adoration as he peered in on your sleeping form. You’d gotten to his trailer before he was able to and you hadn’t hesitated to make yourself comfortable, adorning one of his shirts as you snoozed on his bed.
He sighed contentedly, moving to lay down beside you, trying his best not to wake you up in the process. He wanted more than anything to just lie there in peaceful slumber with you, but unfortunately your eyes began to flutter open, revealing your half lidded gaze
“Hey, pretty girl,” he mumbled, opening his arms as in invitation to cuddle. You gladly crawled into them, resting your head gently on his shoulder as his arms wrapped securely around your waist.
“How long were you asleep?” He asked softly, kissing the top of your head. Your fingers traced soothing patterns over his chest and he swore if he had the time, he would have spent every moment of his day in this position, but alas, he didn’t.
You hummed sleepily, “Not too long. Only got here like an hour ago.” You yawned, shifting to curl against him more comfortably. Eddie couldn’t help himself from pressing another kiss to the top of your head, savoring the feeling of holding you close.
From the position he was in, he almost didn’t catch the way you tilted your head up, tired eyes studying his face for a few seconds before you opened your mouth to speak.
“You’re cute,” you murmured drowsily, your lips curling upward. Eddie grinned back at you as he leaned in, brushing his nose across yours to give you a gentle peck.
“I’m not cute,” he replied, voice soft as he pressed a lingering kiss onto your cheek. You giggled quietly, nuzzling closer to him as you rested your head on his chest.
“Yeah, you are. You’re adorable.” You said firmly, giving him a look that dared him to disagree. He chuckled, turning onto his side so that your front faced each other. A hand slid up to cup your cheek tenderly.
“I’m taller than you, I’m just a pretty grown-up looking man overall, I haven’t been called cute since I was really little, I’m not cute.” He insisted. His thumb brushed over your cheekbone.
“Well, am I cute?” You teased with an amused smile. Eddie smirked back, raising an eyebrow at you.
“Yeah. The cutest person ever,” he said matter of factly, causing a blush to creep onto your cheeks. “How so?” you questioned, curiousity sparking your interest. Eddie smiled.
“Because you’re so loveable and endearing towards me, and you make me so happy. I just want to take care of you and make you feel as happy as you make me. I love looking at your face because it’s the cutest face I’ve ever seen,” Eddie explained sincerely.
A light flush graced your cheeks as you gazed dreamily into his eyes, letting the sweet moment last for a bit before speaking again. “Well you may be tall, but I could say the same to you.” Eddie scoffed, rolling his eyes good naturedly.
“You think I’m endearing?” he asked incredulously. You snorted softly, sitting up slightly to look at him better.
“I think you’re adorable,” you smiled, leaning forward to press a chaste kiss against his lips. He barked out a laugh, wrapping both arms around you tightly and pulling you flush against him.
“Okay, fine, you win. Only you’re allowed to call me cute though,” he relented, smiling goofily when your grin grew even larger.
“Okay, cutie,” you replied, grinning right back. He let out a light sigh, shaking his head in fond exasperation and planting yet another kiss atop your head.

Your heart had begun beating out of your chest, you could barely hear the conversation between Reiner and Bertholdt but the topic was clear. They were titans, they'd broken through the walls. They'd caused the battle of Trost, where you'd almost lost Jean. The battle where most of your comrades had died.
Your mind raced, balancing the options in your head. What were you supposed to do? You had no idea what they'd do to you if you spoke up, you decided to bite your tongue, you'd need help. There was no way you could take on both on your own.
"Y/N?" Your blood ran cold, slowly moving your head to look over your shoulder. They both held dark looks in their eyes, Reiner's a lot scarier than Bertholdt's. "What're you doing?" Reiner questioned, his footsteps steadily growing closer. "I-I was just looking for scouts, we're meeting on the wall," you lied, using all your strength to hide the tremor in your voice. The look on Reiner's face was unreadable, you had no idea if he'd bought in to your lie or not, but you couldn't stay here any longer.
"Let's go." You took off, wind whipping past you as you sped away from them as fast as you could manage. You didn't make it very far, pain exploding across your body as you slammed into a nearby roof, a scream ripping past your lips before you were silenced, Reiner's large hand moving to cover your mouth.
"Reiner. what are you doing?" Bertholdt sounded shaken as he landed next to the blonde. "They heard us. They have to die."
"B-but what about the rest of the squad? What about Jean?"
"They won't find out."
You held back the tears threatening to roll down your cheeks, eyes catching a third pair of boots landing in front of you. Annie's features were confused, her eyes refusing to meet yours as you struggled under Reiner's grasp.
"What's going on?"
“They heard us talking, help me,” Reiner ordered, pulling you up by your arm, Bertholdt promptly grabbing the other to keep you in place.
"W-wait, guys, please wait! Talk to me, please, you don't have to do this!" You pleaded as Annie's shaking hands began taking off your ODM gear. You couldn't hold back the tears anymore, pleas still tumbling past your lips as she finished getting rid of your gear. You grew more frantic as a large titan rounded the corner, your voice growing in volume as Reiner pushed you to the ground, the three quickly walking away from your helpless form.
"Guys, please! Don't do this!" You screamed in desperation, the titan not hesitating to grab you, using its large hand to squeeze the life out of you. "Jean!" You screamed as loud as you could, you nearly screamed at the painful pressure put against your belly, but just as soon as the pain had started, it stopped.
-------------
4 years later, Reiner's eyes stayed staring into the campfire in front of him, surrounded by his former comrades. Jean's eyes were blazing, mind going back to the restless nights he'd spent mourning you, to the moment he'd realized you were gone.
He couldn't stop himself from rushing at the blonde, repeatedly sending his fists flying into Reiner's face. Angry tears made their way down his cheeks, beating him as hard as he possibly could. His hands trembled as he grabbed onto Reiner, the other boy not even attempting to stop him.
"Why did it have to be them?" He whispered as he gripped tighter, tears streaming down his face, hot anger fueling his every movement Reiner stared silently back at him, a sad look in his eyes, an understanding that was beyond Jean's comprehension.
Jean all but threw Reiner back to the ground, ignoring the calls of his name as he stalked off, sliding down the side of a tree as he held back the loud sobs that scratched at the back of his throat.

Please Don’t Cry || A.I.

Your eyes stayed trained on the steering wheel in front of you, your car parked in front of your destination, but you stayed put. You were glad no one was around to witness the sad look in your eyes, to witness the tears that slowly began to make their way down your cheeks.
It’d been a rough day, a rough couple of weeks, but you kept going, doing your best to keep it together until right now. You were finally cracking, not having enough strength to hide it anymore as you let all the emotions go.
You were tired and sore, your whole body ached and you just felt drained. You couldn’t stop the waves of tears now pooling out of your eyes at an alarming rate, a loud sob forcing it’s way past your lips.
You tried wiping them away with shaky fingers, but you only succeeded in making more appear. It didn’t take long for the sobs to get louder, until they seemed like they would drown out everything around you.
You nearly jumped out of your skin as the your car door opened, Ashton’s face barely being recognizable through your blurry eyes. You quickly tried to clean yourself up, to hide the overflowing emotions, but his hands gently grabbed yours, pulling them away from your face where you tried to wipe away the moisture.
“Baby, what’s going on?” He asked quietly, trying not to startle you further. You couldn’t even reply, your words stuck in your throat. He continued, “Please don’t cry…”
Ashton looked so sad seeing you like this, and it made you feel guilty. You all but fell into his chest, gripping his t-shirt as tight as you could. Your shoulders shook as more sobs escaped your mouth, leaving you breathless.
Ashton held you there for a few seconds before pulling away, holding your chin between his two index fingers. His thumb wiped away at your tears as he stared into your eyes intensely.
“Let’s get you inside, yeah?” His voice was soft, almost a whisper, and you nodded, allowing him to wrap an arm around your waist and shut the door behind you, leading you into the house.
You walked into the living room, Ashton’s arm still wrapped tightly around you, and sat on the couch, Ashton immediately joining you. You leaned against his chest once again, tears still soaking his shirt, his hands rubbing small circles against your back.
He didn’t say anything, just listened to the sound of your sobs filling the air, letting you have your moment. As much as Ashton wished he could do more than just sit there, comfort you, this was the least he could do, be there for you if you needed it.
After a few minutes, your breathing had calmed down, though your cheeks were flushed pink and blotchy. You hadn’t realized how hard you were crying until you felt your face relax slightly as you let the tension leave your muscles, your eyes finally opening.
They met Ashton’s gaze and he offered you a small smile, thumb coming up to wipe under your eyes gently. “Do you want to talk about it?” You shook your head, closing your eyes and resting it against Ashton’s shoulder. You felt his arms tighten around you as he pulled you closer, lips coming down to place a kiss on the top of your head.
“Do you need water or something to drink? Can I do anything?” Ashton wished there was more he could do for you, something to ease the pain at least just a little, he’d do whatever you asked of him in this moment, anything to make you feel better.
“Just want you to hold me,” you mumbled after another while, and Ashton nodded. Even if he wasn’t sure exactly what was wrong, he knew you needed his help, wanted his attention. And he’d be damned if he wasn’t gonna give you the full version.
He moved and laid back, allowing you to lay on his chest, head tucked into his neck. He felt you snuggle deeper into his side, and you sighed contently, his hand moving from your back to the hair at the nape of your neck, massaging softly.
You closed your eyes again, and Ashton watched as your breathing began to slow as you slowly fell into slumber. “Love you, Ash.”
It was barely audible, a whisper, but Ashton heard it nonetheless, smiling fondly as his heart warmed. “I love you too. Sleep well, baby,” he whispered, kissing your forehead lightly. He was happy to stay where he was with you, safe and sound, for however long you needed him to.

You hated the Hard Deck sometimes. Most of the time you were fine, but everything just felt like too much tonight.
The pilots were being loud per usual, the tall blonde you knew way too much about was making his presence very known. He’d replied the same song five times in a row and you truly thought you were going to go insane if you had to sit through it again.
The crowd felt too loud, the building packed from wall to wall, effectively blocking all other sounds out. You felt like you could barely move, barely even hear yourself think with everything going on around you.
As much as you wanted to leave, your eyes were trained on your friend, doing her best to flirt with the brunette pilot next to her. You didn’t want to leave her hanging, so you choked down your annoyance, occasionally sipping on the drink you loosely clutched in front of you.
Your eyes kept moving around the room, studying different groups of people, looking for anything that was remotely interesting. You were drawn back to the group of pilots surrounding the pool table, your eyes locking onto his green ones.
He seemed to be studying you as well, your deep feeling of vacancy vanishing at the expression he was aiming at you. Of course you knew who Jake Seresin was, it was impossible not to, you’d made a point to steer clear of him, but the look he was giving you made it hard to ignore him.
You watched him lean over to one of his friends, whispering and gesturing over to where you sat, the boy shrugging before going back to his game of pool.
He started moving, oh god, was he moving towards you? You quickly looked away, chewing nervously on your bottom lip, watching his silhouette grow closer from the corner of your eyes.
“Have we met?” He asked, leaning against the bar you currently sat at. “No, I don’t think we have,” you responded, hoping it sounded natural.
“Yeah, you’re probably right. I think I’d remember meeting someone like you, gorgeous.” A smirk grew across his lips as he took the seat next to yours.
“No, wait, I do recognize you. You’re the idiot who keeps playing Slow Ride, right?” You shot back, giving the pilot a smirk of your own. He laughed, shaking his head.
“What can I say? I love that song.”
The conversation flew between the two of you, your cheeks were starting to hurt from smiling and laughing so much. There was something about Jake that you couldn’t put your finger on, something incredibly intriguing. You hadn’t noticed how close the two of you had gotten, too engrossed in the words falling off his tongue to sense the close proximity.
“Y/N, are you ready to go?” The voice snapped you out of it, begrudgingly turning to face your friend. “Uh, yeah sure,” you mumbled, standing up from the stool.
“It was nice meeting you, Jake.” He smiled at you, nodding his head slightly.
“Likewise, beautiful.”
You blushed, trying to hide the small smile that spread across your lips. You opened your mouth once more, but you didn’t have to chance to speak as your friend grabbed your hand, pulling you with her out of the bar.
“C’mon, let’s get outta here.” She said, tugging on your arm lightly. You nodded hesitantly, your eyes meeting Jake’s one last time before the door shut behind you.
Despite the abrupt ending, you felt utterly wonderstruck. Your friend was blabbing on about Jake Seresin, berating the man for his womanizing tendencies, but you didn’t stop blushing the entire ride home.
Crawling into bed that night, you kept replaying the interaction, feeling almost stupid for being so smitten with a men you’d just met.
That didn’t stop you from thinking about him though.
It’d been about a week since that night and you still hadn’t forgotten about Jake, wondering if he was having similar conversations with other women at the bar, leaving a pit in your stomach. You hoped he wasn’t, wishing more than anything that the small interaction meant just as much to him as it did you.
You knew it was ridiculous, getting this worked up over a man you’d only spoken to once, but you could help it. You prayed he wasn’t in love with someone else, that he didn’t have anyone waiting on him until you couldn’t anymore. You had to know.
You felt stupid pulling up to the Hard Deck, this time alone, one conversation shouldn’t have lead to such intense feelings, but there wasn’t anything you could do to make them go away.
You stepped into the building, the familiar chords of Slow Ride bouncing off the walls caused your heart to leap into your throat.
You figuered one of two things would happen. Either he’d notice you and walk over to talk some more or he’d ignore you entirely, giving you the chance to get him out of your head.
Your eyes fell on the familiar man, he stood at the bar, talking to another pilot who you assumed to be his friend. As you approached the counter, he turned around and caught sight of you.
A large grin broke out on his face, his eyes shining bright as they focused on yours. “Hey, beautiful,” he greeted, unknowingly easing your nerves immensely.
“Hello,” you breathed, unable to tear your eyes away from his. His eyes scanned your features, lingering a little longer than necessary on your lips.
“Come on,” he motioned his head towards the empty seat next to him. A smile broke out on your lips as you took the few steps closer, placing yourself comfortably on the seat.
“I was almost afraid I’d never see you again,” he spoke, causing your insides to jump out of their skin. Your brain immediately went blank, you just sat there like a dumbass.
Why couldn’t you think of anything to say? Hiw did that one sentence cause your brain to completely shut down?
He chuckled at your silence, resting his elbows on the bar top and taking a swig of his beer.
“What? Was I not supposed to say that?” He joked, an underlying nervousness to his tone. Your cheeks flamed red and you shook your head slightly, a small chuckle bubbling up inside of you.
“No, oh my god, it was fine, I guess I just wasn’t sure what to expect,” you admitted. He hummed, looking at you with interest.
“Well, now you’ve heard me say it, how would you feel if I told you that I was interested in you?” He winked before taking another drink.
“Would it be creepy of me to kiss you right now?” You blurted out, the strong urge to hide behind the bar creeping up your spine as he nearly choked on his drink.
“I’m sorry, I just haven’t been able to get you out of my head for the last week and I had almost convinced myself that I was being crazy but now you’re saying you’re interested in me and now I’m ramb-“ He cut you off, chuckling as he leaned forward, pressing a soft peck to your lips.
You were taken aback by his actions, but you quickly melted into the sensation, wrapping your arms around his neck as he rested a hand on your waist. His lips moved gently against yours, sending tingles down your spine. When he pulled away, he grinned wide at the sight of you in awe.
“I am utterly enchanted by you, Jake.” Your voice was quiet, barely audible above the music coming through speakers. His smile seemed to grow even wider as he studied your face.
“Good, then you won’t turn me down when I ask you out to dinner.” He stated confidently, earning himself a laugh from you.
“Definitely, as long as you buy me drinks for the rest of the night,” you teased, making the taller boy chuckle.
“Deal.”

Life was always easier when Bradley was home from deployment.
You’d gotten used to it after years of being with him, but you much preferred having him safe in your home. You knew he never wanted to worry about whether he’d be coming home to you or not, but the fear was always there.
You were currently sitting on the kitchen counter, eyes trained on Bradley’s broad shoulders as he cooked you two breakfast. He’d just gotten back home the night before, leading you to take a few days off work to spend with him.
You could still feel the slight ache between your legs from the attention he’d given you last night, but somehow that wasn’t enough for you. After being away from him for the past few months, you needed as much as he was willing to give you.
He caught your gaze as he turned around, raising an eyebrow. “Are you staring at me or the food?” You laughed lightly and shook your head before jutting your arms out, silently asking him to get closer.
He obliged, situating himself between your legs and giving you a small peck. His hand found its way to your thigh as he spoke quietly into your ear, voice low. “I missed you.” He’d said those words so many times yesterday, but Bradley felt he couldn’t say it enough to get across just how much he hated being away from you.
“I missed you too,” you replied, pressing another kiss to his lips. “You have no idea how boring it gets without you here. It’s like the world stopped when you left.” Your hands moved to circle around his neck, pulling him into another kiss.
Bradley hummed against your lips, pulling back momentarily to look down at you. “Then we better make up for lost time, hmm?” He ran his thumb over the skin under your chin before leaning down once again and kissing you deeper this time.
His tongue swiped against yours as your hips began to grind against him, causing him to chuckle against your mouth. He pulled away and looked down at you, seeing how flushed you’d become.
“So desperate, baby,” he commented, his thumb rubbing against your cheek. “Can’t wait until I finish breakfast, can you sweetheart?” As much as you wanted to deny it, tease him back somehow, you were desperate.
“Bradley…please.”
His name fell off your lips like a prayer, and the brunette couldn’t help but smile. His hands dropped to your thighs, sliding up underneath your shirt and squeezing gently.
“Please what, princess?” he teased. You swallowed thickly and closed your eyes, trying to gain any sort of control you could. “I want you, please, Bradley.”
The smirk on Bradley’s face only grew larger as he brushed his finger against your panties. “How can I refuse such a beautiful lady?” You let out a shaky breath at his words, his hand tugging on the waistband of your panties.
You raised your hips slightly, allowing him to pull them down your legs, landing somewhere on the floor beneath you. You let out a groan as he dropped to his knees in front of you, hands roughly pulling you to the edge of the countertop.
“You’re so wet for me, princess,” he purred, letting one of his large hands glide along your folds. You bucked your hips into the feeling, hands gripping his locks, trying to tug him closer to your core.
“So impatient,” he spoke, eyes glazed over slightly as he stared up at you. His head finally dropped down, tongue flicking against your clit a few times before he wrapped his lips around you. You moaned loudly, hips grinding harder onto his mouth with every touch.
When his teeth finally grazed across your sensitive flesh, you released a sharp cry, arching your body further and digging your nails into his scalp. The pleasure was overwhelming, none of your other senses seemed to be working. All you could focus on was Bradley’s mouth against your most sensitive area, pushing you closer and closer to your release.
Bradley enjoyed all the noises he was forcing out of your mouth, relishing in hearing your pleas for more. He slid two fingers into your pussy, groaning at the loud moan that left your parted lips at the sensation.
“Fuck, Bradley!” you gasped through your heavy breaths, throwing your head back on the surface behind you. He could feel you clenching around his digits, your movements becoming more frantic as you began to come undone. A wave of warmth spread throughout your body, your breathing ragged and your vision beginning to blur.
It felt amazing, being able to hear you moaning his name so desperately. His free hand gripped your thigh tightly, thrusting his fingers into you over and over while his tongue kept lapping at your leaking cunt, working you through your orgasm.
After a few seconds passed, his lips left your inner thigh and he pulled his fingers out of your warm depths, standing up slowly. You continued panting, head thrown back as you tried to catch your breath. He leaned forward, pressing a quick kiss against your lips before grabbing the hem of his sweatpants, pulling them, as well as his boxers, down quickly.
“Ready for me, baby?” He asked, smirking as you nodded, reach your arms out to bring his body closer to yours. He pressed another kiss to your lips as he positioned himself at your entrance, your legs immediately wrapping around his hips to keep him there.
A deep grunt sounded from Bradley as he pushed inside of you, filling you completely. Your head fell away from his lips, head falling against his shoulder as you moaned at the intrusion. Bradley’s hands were gripping your hips so tight you were sure there'd be bruises, only egging you on more.
He began to thrust deeply within you, both of your moans turning up in volume as his pace picked up even faster. “Fuck, you’re still so tight, sweetheart.” You bit down on your lip at his comment, his thrusts speeding up even more.
You nearly screamed as he hit that spot that always drives you nuts, thrusting into it over and over again. His fingers quickly found your center again, moving in quick circles. You could feel yourself tightening around him again, the intensity of his movements causing you to feel like you were about to fall apart.
“Come on, baby. Cum for me,” he spoke into your ear, your body shaking in pleasure as you came with a loud cry. Your head was thrown back against the cabinets, his name leaving your lips in an equally loud tone as you convulsed against him.
Your hands were wrapped around his arms so tight you were sure there would be little crescent shaped marks left behind, but it didn’t matter because you were in absolute bliss. You were barely aware of the faltering thrusts Bradley was still performing, his mouth spewing out words you could hardly understand.
He came with a moan, emptying his load inside of you as he jolted forward, head tucked inside the crook of your neck as he panted. You stayed curled up against his frame, arms wrapped around his shoulders.
You took a moment to recover, wincing as he slowly pulled out of you before relaxing back against him and sighing contentedly. “Fuck, I love you so much,” he choked out, placing a few pecks on your neck. “Gonna marry you someday.”
Those words brought you back to reality instantly, hands cupping his face and pulling him up to meet your gaze, ignoring his groan of protest. “What did you say?” You asked softly, eyebrows furrowed.
He chuckled lowly and shook his head, a playful smile plastered on his features. “Said I’m gonna marry you someday, gorgeous. Wanna make you my wife.” He smiled widely as he spoke, his voice filled with confidence.
Your heart pounded against your chest, mind trying so hard to comprehend what he was saying. “Wait...really?”
“Why not?” Bradley asked defensively. “Is that a problem?”
“No, no. Definitely not,” you rushed to assure him. “Just caught me off guard, is all.” He moved forward to catch your lips in a sweet kiss, wrapping his arms tightly around your waist once again.
“Good, cause it’d be super awkward if you didn’t feel the same,” he spoke as he pulled back, a smile on his lips.
You laughed, your arms coming up to wrap around his neck, pressing another long kiss against his lips. “Of course I do, you idiot. Why wouldn’t I?” You giggled lightly. “I’d like nothing more than to be Mrs. Bradshaw.”
You’d swear you’ve never seen him smile nearly as big as he did then, eyes gleaming as he stared at you.
“Sounds perfect, gorgeous.”

Jake Seresin was a complete pain in your ass. He was over confident, smug, and pretty much your least favorite person on the planet. At least that's what you told yourself. You refused to admit just how much attraction you felt towards the blonde, just how much you enjoyed the shameless flirting and attention he aimed at you. You would rather die than allow anyone to realize that.
You were deeply lost in thought, zoned out entirely as a few members of your team huddled around the pool table in front of you. It took Jake a few tries before he finally snapped you out of it, your head turning to face him.
"Are you even paying attention over there, sweetheart?" Jake asked, his infamous smirk pulling at the corner of his lips. "To you? Almost never," you shot back without missing a beat, bringing the beer you cradled up to your lips. Jake chuckled, handing his pool stick off to Coyote before taking the seat next to yours. You nearly rolled your eyes as his arm landed on the back of your chair; body turned to face you as he got comfortable.
"We both know that's not true, don't we?" He prodded, cocking an eyebrow as he watched you drink slowly, trying desperatly to keep your mind in check. "I'm sure there's plenty of people here that would be more than willing to give me attention," you replied, shrugging your shoulders casually before looking at him, raising an eyebrow of your own when you noticed the flash of jealousy on his features, the look disappearing just as fast as it had appeared.
"Sure, you do, but it feels so much better when it comes from me," Jake said with a wink, earning a chuckle from you. "Then how about instead of just flirting with me, you actually make a move?" The words fell quickly from your mouth, making you choke down your regret once you realized what you said. You let yourself relax a little as Jake laughed, resting a hand on your thigh and lightly squeezing the skin there. The touch sent warmth through your entire body, making your cheeks flush slightly.
"Got quite a mouth on you, don't you, sugar?" Jake asked, letting his smile grow wider. His other hand came up to caress your cheek, fingers gently tracing your jawline. Your breath hitched slightly, the sensation of his fingertips on your skin causing goosebumps to form. You felt him lean closer until he was mere centimeters away from your face, your heart hammering inside of your chest as he whispered into your ear.
"What if I did want to make a move?"
Your brain seemed to stop working. You wanted nothing more than to shoot back some remark to Jake, but you were blanking, his soft touch almost being too much for you to handle. If this wasn't torture, then what could possibly be?
He must have sensed how nervous you'd become, because he leaned back just enough so he could meet your gaze properly. You didn't think you'd ever hated someone as much as you hated Jake Seresin right now.
"It was just a joke, darlin," he whispered, his voice low and deep yet smooth. You felt like you should be offended by the way it sounded, or at least taken aback by how close the man sitting next to you was. But all you could feel was anger. Angry at him for making you question your actions, angry at yourself for letting your true feelings come to light. Angry at fate for sending you this asshole to torment you.
With one quick motion, you pushed Jake's hand off of your thigh and stood, trying your best to keep your frustration out of your voice. "You're right, it was just a joke," you said, keeping your tone steady. "I'm gonna head out." You ignored Jake's confused expression as you walked away from the game, the noise of laughter coming from the men behind you only barely registering as you tried to get your heartbeat under control.
Once outside, you took several deep breaths, trying desperately to calm down. What the hell had gotten into you? You were usually composed, logical, and level headed. But when Jake came near you, everything seemed to go haywire. You hated that you let Jake have so much affect over you. How could you act so stupid when every fiber of your being knew that it all meant absolutely nothing?
You almost didn't hear the calling of your name as you neared your car, completely oblivious to the man chasing after you. "Hey!" You heard him yell, reaching out for your wrist. You tried wrenching your arm out of his grip only for him to pull harder. You turned towards him, seeing that he had a determined set to his jaw. You looked him straight in the eye, feeling the anger bubbling inside of you again.
"Leave me alone, Jake." You said, attempting to pull your arm free once more. "Come on, sweetheart. At least explain to me what the hell just happened," he insisted, not budging on his pursuit to get you to talk. You knew there wasn't a way out of this conversation, Jake was nothing if not persistant. He wouldn't leave until he was satisfied.
"Is it all really just some dumb joke to you?" You asked, unable to hide the bite in your voice. He looked taken aback, nearly doing a double take as he reigstered your question. You eventually grew tired of the silence surrounding you two and attempted to pull your arm out of his grasp, letting out a small gasp when he pulled you back with enough force that you fell against his body.
"What are you doing?!" You shouted against his chest, pushing against his chest in attempt to get away from him. Unfortunately for you, he was much stronger than you were, his arms easily keeping you trapped against his chest.
"I didn't know it wasn't that for you," he finally spoke, his voice quiet and you stilled against him. You didn't fight his actions this time as he hooked a finger under your chin, pulling your head up to meet his intense gaze. "It was at first, I-I don't know what happened," you whispered, finally coming to terms with how strong your feelings for the man had grown. No matter how much you denied it, the truth was undeniable.
He kissed you, and you couldn't help but melt into his embrace. There was no hesitation as he deepened the kiss, his hands running up along your back as he held you tight against him. You melted into the warmth emanating from his skin and your mind started whirling with thoughts. All you could think about was his lips against yours and the prospect of him harboring the same feelings you had been.
He finally pulled away breathing heavy as he stared down at you, his hands coming up to cup your cheeks. "Is this enough of a move for you?" He spoke, a teasing lilt to his tone which caused a small giggle to slip from your lips. "I don't know, you might need to come home with me and try again." You teased back and he chuckled lightly in response, leaning down to capture your lips again.
