FUNGUARY IS HAPPENING AGAIN!!! February is right around the corner, which means it’s soon time for Funguary 2024! the drawing event where we draw a bunch of mushroom based characters during the month of feb. This will be our third year of Funguary, and this time it’s a leap year!

Here’s how it works: Each week of the month will have a theme with seven different prompts, draw a mushroom character within that theme in order to join. The themes are Celestial, Demonic, Edible and Cryptic. Each week of February is a new theme. You don’t have to complete all the prompts, just one mushroom per theme/week is plenty!

If you’re hardcore you can definitely try and finish all the prompts though ;). The challenge intensity is adjustable to what suits you. This is a chill event where the goal is to just have fun and vibe, and honor the fungi kingdom with some really cool art🍄

I invite you all to come draw mushrooms with me! Use the hashtag #Funguary and #funguary2024 when posting your creations. I’ll be posting some of the creations here, and I’ll also be hanging out in the hashtag and comment sections! (My OC from a 1920-inspired Fantasy Setting!)

Born to a prostitute and a nobleman, Viktor Kessler entered the world as a child of contradiction, a living embodiment of two vastly different worlds. However, fate had something unexpected in store for him. The Kessler family, known for their influence in law and politics, saw an opportunity to shape Viktor's destiny to their liking. A deal was struck, and young Viktor was adopted into the Kessler household. Life within the Kessler mansion was far from the idyllic family setting one might imagine. His adoptive mother, a woman plagued by the shadows of manic depression, struggled to find solace in her new role as a mother. Constantly grappling with inner demons, she sought refuge in pills and potions, leaving her emotionally distant from Viktor. The walls of the mansion echoed with the hushed whispers of servants who discussed the lady's strange behavior. Viktor's adoptive father, a prominent lawyer, was a man of cold calculation. He viewed Viktor as a pawn to further his own ambitions, a tool to uphold the family's reputation. Love and affection were alien concepts to him, replaced instead by lessons in discipline and control. Viktor learned early on that his worth was measured in his ability to conform and excel in the eyes of his father. The defining tragedy of Viktor's life occurred when he was just 17 years old. His adoptive mother succumbed to the darkness that had consumed her for years, taking her own life. The mansion, once filled with the echoes of her laughter, became a silent testament to her struggles. Viktor, torn between grief and anger, placed blame upon his adoptive father for his emotional detachment, believing that his father's coldness had driven her to despair. In search of his own path and identity, Viktor turned to the study of law, an arena where he saw the potential to wield power and control. He pursued his studies with a relentless determination, honing his intellect and strategic thinking. Upon completing his education, he was drawn to the role of a prison warden, a position that promised dominion over the lives of others. Here, he could exercise the authority he never had as a child. Within the cold stone walls of the prison, Viktor found a canvas for his need for control and dominance. He relished the fear and respect he instilled in the inmates and his subordinates alike. The power he held over their lives became a twisted manifestation of the control he sought over his own emotions. The lines between right and wrong blurred as his sadistic tendencies took root, nurtured by the scars of his past.
