Mythological stories from Elvenwick (just a few)

Creation (of the world)-

It is believed that for millions of years there was nothing. No stars no gods no heavens and no earth. In the midst of nothingness the Void became divided into two, the Earth (Gritsyn) and Space (Adhara). Space created three other properties. A Sun (Risus) and Moon (Tokia) to be one another’s companion, and a Sky (Ymjir) to be the companion of Gritsyn.

The relationship between the sun and the moon-

Risus and Tokia had been partners practically since their existence, and the both of them travelled the skys together. Ymjir who was losing passion with his wife who had already produced Ygen Oris and Femoine, turned his attention to the goddess of the sun to be his new consort. She refused, quite bluntly which caused the wrath of Ymjir, the new ruler of all of the gods. He split himself into 2 separating the 2 lovers Tokia and Risus, separating the day from the night. In retaliation The sun seemed to shine harder on the land as the moon didn’t see to shine at all. As a compromise their mother set up a negotiation to help Risus and Tokia see each other once every two months. The lovers agreed to this and every two months they met and produced 6 daughters in each 2 months out of the period of 12 months.

Eventually Ymjir found out and was displeased and became stricter on the separation of the sun and the moon. He several cycles passed before he agreed to reunite the moon and sun temporary in the form of eclipses provided that Risus sires him an son. He also wished for the 6 daughters of the Sun and Moon to be placed in the sky only one visible to the Earth in a 2 month period as the main constellations. Both of these terms were agreed upon. Now every 7 months the sun and moon meet in the sky for one day.

The war between Life and Death over love-

Creation (of humans)-

Vatia had been the oldest child from Ygen and Femoine and she had been gifted in so many fields. She was so gifted that there was no domain that suited her, so she stayed domainless for many years. Her siblings embodied the spirits of the Sea and of the Mountains and of Metal, but she embodied nothing. As she developed more her curiosity expanded and it cultivated the day her wife Utia (wisdom) suggest that instead of trying to find a domain she makes one. Vatia who was excited with this prospect began to spend years in her office creating all of the animals of the world, until one day she made her best creation, man. Utia who also say the potential in this blessed man with the gift of wisdom and insisted Utia made a companion for man woman. Pleased with this Vatia brought these creations to her father who made his new wife and her new siblings give them blessing such as Life, Prosperty, Pleasure, and a feeling of home. Eventually Vatia created more and more humans but Astaseul family claimed to be the descendants of the first pair.

The Golden Stag

In Elvish mythology the story of the golden stag is an important one. Two twins both descendents of the first man and woman were hunting for food one day in the forests of Elvenwick as they uncovered a small cave with a baby deer on the inside. However this deer did not seem like any other, it’s hide was golden. The two brothers were shocked about this sight as they planned on what to do. The older of the twins Einar wanted to steal the deer and bring it back to town and sell them for a great profit. But the younger of the twins Birger, always known for his kindness opted to leave it alone. Einar as the older and stronger brother picked up the now howling calf and made the way back to the town. They spent the night nearby waiting to return in the morning, but Birger felt pity for the creature and took it back to its cave. When Einar realized he was entranced in a fury where he killed his brother upon his returning. The madness persisted and when he returned he was shunned about his family and community. He lost his position as king and was exiled to live a life forever alone. The community mourned for their dear Birger, whom they made shrines to, even making way for his son Aldrich I to be a great king. Although Birger died, his most favorite thing, his son was rewarded with an endless supply of good luck and fortune, being blessed with a long life, a beautiful and kind wife, and many many sons who would carry on the legacy of the Astaseul family.

Jesus Christ Blizzard What The Fuck

Alright, I just want to get my thoughts down on this because acknowledging it is mandatory and the more I think about it the more I have to think about it and holy shit. Jesus Christ Blizzard what the fuck.

Before the cut, the most important thing to say is that down here as physical people on the ground, our individual mental health matters more than making a gesture that might not mean anything. If thinking about the shit that happened hurts you, do yourself a favor and don’t think about it. Don’t worry: plenty of other people are being emotionally consumed by it at every hour of the day!

Additionally, if you want or need to be playing Heroes of the Storm - or whatever other games Blizzard made, if any - for your own mental, social, or emotional well-being, you aren’t morally obligated to stop. Do what you gotta do to make it day to day, okay? Obviously if you can stop giving them money, that would be great - some proportion of that money will indirectly go towards paying the lawyers who will be trying to dodge facing consequences for these actions. But please secure your own orcs-ygen mask before assisting others.

The second most important thing to say is that I wholeheartedly condemn the actions described in the DFEH investigation. The vast majority of those behaviors are monstrous and unforgivable, and the only thing worse is the implication - true or not - that Blizzard’s management and HR department either participated or was complicit in them.

With those matters said, I’ll put the rest under the cut to spare you all the dash space.

In case it needs to be said again: I am not Alan Dabiri. This blog is not affiliated in any capacity with Blizzard. I’m just some guy copying something cool I saw a lesbian do.

For the sake of everyone’s mental health, I’m not going to go into details about the report. If you want details, they’re all over the internet, but be warned that they range from frustrating to enraging to nauseating. Just searching for “Blizzard Scandal” isn’t specific enough, so I will say - for future generations who might be scrolling back and reading this in 2022, after “Blizzard Scandal” brings up a whole new thing - that this is in reference to the California DFEH discrimination lawsuit, wherein a 2-year investigation led to a laundry list of crimes committed by Blizzard and Blizzard employees against the women who worked there. Some of these are labor crimes, some of these are just dick moves, and some of them are seriously dark shit that’s going to haunt me every time a Blizzard game’s story decides that the only thing they can do with a woman is have her go crazy and get killed. What immediately followed was an outpouring of more horrifying stories across social media from others who worked for Blizzard, whose experiences were not included in the report.

Blizzard’s statements in response to the suit are a mixed bag. For one thing, they outright deny all the charges, insisting that many of the claims are distorted, out of context, factually incorrect, or - the most irrelevant kind of accusation - old. They hide behind an updated Code of Conduct and new training standards rather than do anything to acknowledge any of the wrongdoing. (Because no one would ever know that [redacted] was a morally disgusting crime unless an HR video told them!) Their statement instead points fingers at the state and their “unaccountable bureaucrats” driving businesses out of California. It’s the most childish response imaginable, and makes the whole thing look even worse than it already did. When you are accused of ignoring mistreatment of a specific group of employees, perhaps the correct response isn’t to ignore the accusations altogether and whine that you’re being bullied by law enforcement.

That said, the Blizzard response does have a grain of truth to it. The DFEH’s filing is outside of normal protocol. After the investigation, the DFEH’s normal procedure is to work with the company, resolving claims and concerns with them directly before moving to litigation, if necessary. Further speculation online has been that the state of California may be trying to make an example out of Blizzard. The games industry has long been full of this exact kind of discrimination and harassment. Coming down on Blizzard for this shows the industry that even their titans can and will be held accountable, even if it means going to court when it may not have been by the book to do so.

Maybe it’s not fair to Blizzard that they have been denied the opportunity to address these complaints in private with their own evidence and information. Maybe some of these complaints are indeed factually incorrect. Maybe some of these perpetrators faced serious consequences that the victims were not aware of. Maybe they did everything right to cut the problems in their internal culture out over the last few years, but the DFEH had already decided that Blizzard needed to be their scapegoat for the whole industry.

But Blizzard’s response being a tantrum cry of “nah-uh ur a bunch of fudging meaners” makes it look to me like they want to be that scapegoat. And if this is the only way the industry starts holding their supervisors and HR departments accountable for how they treat women and minorities in their employ, it would be a hard sell to convince me that the DFEH is making a bad call to take Blizzard to task for these offenses. Even if Blizzard puts to rest each and every claim with clear evidence of proper behavior on the part of the company in a court of law, I also find it hard to argue against having Blizzard submit to the public record a roadmap on how a large corporation in an especially abusive industry can eliminate a culture of harassment and sexism.

I, uh, don’t expect that to be the result. But boy, wouldn’t that be great? All the victims got their justice, Blizzard is exonerated, and every HR department in the nation is handed a toolkit to fix even the worst work environment? You want to talk about a fantasy setting, there you go.

La yGen  americana, pare che abbia scoperto il concetto di classismo.  vedi i mille twitter sui MAGA e trump e #BLM, per non parlare del resto. Sembra spaventata ma anche capace reagire. Niente rende umane le persone - penso tra me - più di una crisi economica e di valori,  devastante, come quella in atto (là , ma anche qua ). Mi riferisco all’insorgere del Trumpismo che cerca appunto di propinare una eguaglianza di facciata tra billionari e poverissimi, mentre Trump decolla su un elicottero antinucleare,  per entrare in un appartamento da 20  milioni di dollari. Mentre chi vive nel lusso dice I love you a gente che non ha capito che MAGA (Make America Great Again) è solo Trump che li truffa. Trump truffa per primi i suoi sostenitori.

E’ un mondo dove si schiera la guardia nazionale per menare queli di #BLM (Black Lives Matter),  perchè sono afroamericani. Ma i bianchi privilegiati possono entrare, con le corna in testa, al congresso e uccidere a colpi di estintore un poliziotto e uscirne impunìti.

E il problema non è solo americano.

La yGen americana, poveri e meno poveri, non ha gli strumenti cuturali per capire che sono stati turlupinati dal sistema,  parlo del sistema che ti dice guarda netflix e vivi sui social, chatta ma non farti domande, soprattutto non interagire con i tuoi prossimi, accetta il ruolo, prendi le briciole e taci. Ti dice abbi paura del fuori, vivi chiuso in casa. E non scocciare il sistema con le tue patetiche e inutili idee di crescita personale e umana.

Ma la yGen Italiana, quella, e tutta, li ha gli strumenti per capire Certo il contrappasso c’è,  quello di smettere di vivere principalmente sui telefoni e cominciare a rimboccarsi le maniche per uscire nel reale; capire che ... la vita richiede anche di alzare la testa e farsi sentire, a volte. E di mettere magari i piedi fuori di casa per parlare   per vivere, per conoscersi... e per votare. Per cambiare le teste... Anche le teste, delle teste di legno che.... vedete bene ....ci sono anche qua: li avete visti in azione nei gg scorsi anche nella ns politica.

Servono pù persone come Greta e meno tronisti chattisti facebookari...meno Tv meno social e più aperitivi, più vita universitaria, più scambi di idee, e più idee che si fanno realtà.

Occorre  scocciare il sistema con le nostre patetiche inutili idee di crescita personale e umana. Perchè non sono nè patetiche nè inutili. Il dramma americano messo in atto da Trump per 4 terribili anni è il dramma esemplare di tutta la modernità.

Da un lato c’è chi mente, sempre e per mandato, per sottomettere tutti al proprio volere, alla propria volontà distrubata e al proprio profitto cancerogeno. A volte un profitto anche solo narcisistico. Quindi anche vano e inano. Dall’altro c’è chi lotta invece per creare una vita  nuova, chiara, respirabile, per una società che dia giustizia e uguaglianza per tutti.

Occorre uscire dalle case e anche dalle proprie paure, e capire che questa cosa dei vivi sui social e tutto ti viene servito a casa, è il lacciuolo fatale della politica economica americana che arriva fino a noi, per ragioni  tecnologiche. Ma noi non siamo americani. Non votiamo lì. Noi dobbiamo agire qua e essere Europei. Vivere da Europei. Fuori dalle case, dentro le nostre scarpe. Noi dobbiamo costruire la ns vita, la nostra politica, la nostra realtà. La nostra Europe. Dentro i nostri vestìti.

okay I was pretty sure it was going to be in episode 11 but now I don’t think it is??? it’s kind of hard to tell but I don’t think he has a cast on in the scene + the suit he’s wearing isn’t any of the three suits we know he wears in 11. so now I’m guessing 14, which explains why in 13 he tells malcolm “I’m back” since the phone call would be their first time talking (ofc it’s malcolm’s luck that the first time his dad calls after he found out he planned to kill him is while he’s holding a live land mine.)
