This was a piece woven in late 2018 for a friend. It was a very cathartic experience because my parents-in-law were having to sell their house which had become our family home and at the same time my mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer. Weaving this and focusing on the interplay of colour and weave helped me find some sense of calm in the chaos that I had become embroiled in.

While there are several species of this desert rain frog, most of them live in tiny territories in South Africa (both the country and region) in the thin strips of land between the sand dune deserts and the sea. They are nocturnal creatures, sucking up the moisture from the fog that rolls in at night. Then, they use their weird little feet to bury themselves during the hot, dry day.

New metal clothes patch! I dont think I'd say this is finished but I just needed to get something concrete down to shake out some tension 😅 . . Made a new punch for this next round of embossing with this, more patches, and the jacket projects. Got a few more I want to make to smooth the process out a bit and neaten my lines up without spending hours chasing time details. Will show some of that process with some video I think 🤘🏻 . . These patches and stuff I like to hold on with little bolts. I personally like them for ease of use (esp. when prototyping) and the look of them on finished pieces. 2mm hex nuts are so tiny and cute I stg I nearly cry looking at them sometimes 😅 (I'm absolutely fine and emotionally stable, don't worry about it 🥲) . .
