may the force be with you. and you. (also on ao3)
None of them knew how they had ended up in that situation. Between one game of Sabacc and a shot of Merenzane Gold - courtesy of the Galactic Baron himself -, the three of them took the enthusiastic chat directly to Wilson’s ship - the red Falcon - and, while they were sitting in the cockpit, the pilot looked confused. Why in the name of the stars was he, a respectable Republic pilot, giving a ride to a convicted space gangster and his pet psychopath? Oh, right, because said gangster and pet were his best friends. And he had decided to visit them after a very angry holocall from his old flying partner. Bucky Barnes came first into his life as an acquaintance. Since he was Steve Rogers’ childhood friend - both of them grew in the streets of Coruscant -, the two of them got along pretty quickly and it didn’t take much from Sam to empathize with the older man’s sad backstory. When Steve was gone, Sam and Bucky had a hard time dealing with grief and rebuilding their friendship seemed like a plan for the future. However, the Rebellion needed them to regroup and go back to their missions together as soon as possible - there wasn’t much time to deal with their personal feelings about the passing of their best friend. One mission later, they were already back on tracks, more close than ever. Zemo joining them was… a little bit weirder. Baron Helmut Zemo was famous for his money and contacts - he wasn’t an ally or an enemy, but someone willing to help as long as he got what he wanted in the end. They could use someone with money and somewhere safe to land and take care of the Falcon. In some desperate time, they asked for his help and Helmut obliged - but not without a price. He wanted to seek revenge against the Empire for that fall of his home planet, Alderaan. They wanted to destroy the Empire. It seemed like a logic alliance to be made at the time. Sure, things got weird when Bucky and Zemo started developing feelings for each other and Barnes left the rebellion to join Zemo, but who was Sam to judge? He wanted to see his friend happy and if it was with some widowed space gangster, so be it. Of course he would keep an eye on the baron just to make sure that he wasn’t hurting Bucky but… they were somewhat solid with each other. He tried to keep contact as much as he could but it wasn’t easy since he never knew where Zemo’s ship would be next, but they tried their best. “O32-N1K got us more drinks…”, Zemo’s voice appeared behind them, while the old-fashioned Droid followed him, holding a tray with three cups filled with the golden liquor. “I shouldn’t be drinking that much, I am the designated driver, after all…”, started Sam, receiving glares from Zemo and Bucky at the same time. Shit, they really were one at this point. “What is the rush, my dear Wilson? Let’s enjoy the night, rest and leave in the morning”, said Zemo, with a small chuckle. He didn’t wanted Sam to leave so early. He knew that Bucky missed his best friend and it was good for his husband to chill a bit. Even though they were together for a few years already, he knew that Bucky missed the battlefield action. Barnes was a soldier, he was a royalty. Nothing would change that - not even war, his extinct planet or their marriage. “Also, you promised me that you would try to talk to Karli about the Republic Army. They won’t forgive me if I let you leave without talking to them about it”, said Bucky. It still felt weird talking about the teenager with so much care - in the past, the gingerhead gave them trouble, now, they were his adoptive kid (another courtesy from Zemo who had only two passions in his life: his growing new family and his shady business across the galaxy). The pilot heavily sighed. Yes. He had promised Morgenthau that he would talk to them about their future. The kid wanted to be a pilot since they were a child and he clearly didn’t help taking them to fly with him every time he visited Bucky and Zemo. “Fine, I’ll stay for the night. But only for Karli. And if I hear both of you being weird and moaning, I’ll leave and take the kid and the droid with me”, said Sam, getting laughs from both of his friends.
“We promise we will be quiet, sladkiy”, murmured the Alderaanian, with a soft smile.

Rating Every Song on Fearless Based on How Gay it is
Hello friends! I still have a few song analyses in the pipeline (and one on Lover the album) but today in honor of Fearless (Taylor’s Edition) being announced and Love Story being released in a few hours I thought I’d do something fun to celebrate!
And you know what? Fuck my usual disclaimer, I am the word of god here. Try and change my mind about any of these. I dare you. (I kid I kid this isn’t that serious and you’re free to disagree <3)
1. Fearless 15/10
Everything about this song is so fucking gay oh my god. This isn’t a fruit, this is a whole ass edible arrangement. As a small rural town Gay (my hometown has a population of less that 4,000 and where I’m living now has a population of 2,500) this uh. Hits.
“And I don't know how it gets better than this/You take my hand and drag me head first, fearless”
Y’ALL
The idea of falling in love with someone who makes you less afraid of your homophobic small town…….it’s getting to me.
“My hands shake, I'm not usually this way but/You pull me in and I'm a little more brave/It's the first kiss, it's flawless, really something/It's fearless”
This is making me emotional, I'll be honest. I see so much of my friends and my experience in high school in this song.
This quote I found on genius is from when the album was released on BMR’s website.
“When I wrote ‘Fearless,’ I wasn’t dating anyone. I wasn’t even in the beginning stages of dating anybody. I really was all by myself out on tour and I got this idea for a song about the best first date. I think sometimes when you’re writing love songs, you don’t write them about what you’re going through at the moment, you write about what you wish you had. So, this song is about the best first date I haven’t had yet.”
This just screams baby Tay writing gay folklore to me, about the gay stories she wish she had. Notice how there are no pronouns in this song??? Fruity I’m telling you.
All that to say. I’m crying because the linear note says “I loved you before I met you” and I want to go listen to Long Story Short and cry now.
2. Fifteen 1/10
Objectively pretty straight as she’s singing about her and Abigail’s dating boys in HS. And Taylor got with a senior guy. Good for her I suppose.
Unless he was one of the shitty ones in which case.
“This is life before you know who you're gonna be”
This however, is a cute line and the whole song makes me warm and nostalgic. You can also hear her crying after the line “and Abigail gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind” which makes me emo and I’m sure will take on new depth after Abigail’s divorce and hurt me even more.
Other highlights that make me sob include.
“When all you wanted was to be wanted/Wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now/Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday/But I realized some bigger dreams of mine”
Bigger dreams of hers indeed :’)
(Also how can you say she’s a gold star lesbian when this song exists. She was obviously dating boys in high school and even if you think she’s a lesbian. Comp het is a hell of a drug kids.)
3. Love Story 8/10
Tried to change the ending indeed.
This is THE Taylor Swift song, and maybe it’s the nostalgia talking but damn I still love it. Written because she wanted to change the ending of Romeo and Juliet (how anyone likes RandJ enough to want to rewrite I have no clue.) and/or because her parents didn’t approve of a guy she was seeing. (according to genius, it would’ve been too early for Joe J so it could possibly be Boys Like Girls frontman, his image did clash with hers and they did release some cute songs together. However if you want my take it’s probably folklore about Emily, take for what you will)
This song has very oft gay vibes with the ‘They don’t approve of our love angle!’ but uses male pronouns so points redacted for that. HOWEVER this is a very early use of ~the male perspective~ in Taylor’s songs and for that it deserves all the love.
“ So I sneak out to the garden to see you/We keep quiet, 'cause we're dead if they knew/So close your eyes/Escape this town for a little while”
More rural town angst!!!
Nothing gets me more than rural town angst.
“Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel/This love is difficult, but it's real”
Originally the lyric was “this love is different”. Granted I do not remember the source, i’s just lore implanted into my brain, but make of that what you will.
“"Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone/I love you, and that's all I really know/I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress/It's a love story, baby, just say "Yes"”
Marry me Juliet from the male perspective :)
Also worth noting. This is Karlie’s (and Kim K’s lmao) favorite Taylor song which. While basic as hell. Makes this cover sad as hell to this former Kaylor. (thanks @swiftgron-get-married for the tears <3)
Also not to make this about a man AGAIN but the secret message is “Some day I’ll find this” AND SHE DID IM CRYING.
4. Hey Stephen 1/10
The one thing Camilla Cabello and I have in common is loving this song, so I have to live with that for the rest of my life.
This song is very painfully straight.
How can you think this woman is a gold star lesbian.
The only noteworthy thing is that this is one of the few songs she confirms who it’s about. The secret message is “Love and Theft” which is the name of a country music duo who went on to open her Fearless tour. Which, does make me side eye this song a little bit.
Still a cute song.
“Hey Stephen, boy, you might have me believing/I don't always have to be alone”
5. White Horse 1/10
Oh look. It’s track five.
You know maybe this is just me being a bitch but in my ranking of track fives this is. Pretty low. Maybe on the bottom.
Like I don’t have a lot to say about it.
She’s going through it over a guy. He was a cheating dickweazel.
“'Cause I'm not your princess, this ain't a fairytale/I'm gonna find someone someday/Who might actually treat me well”
“Try and catch me now, oh/It's too late/To catch me now”
These lines hit though!!
And she found Joe!! Who treats her well!!!! And she isn’t the princess, she’s the prince who dropped her sword and knocked on her door!!! But this time if they come for them she’s ready!!!
Yes I will make every song about Long Story Short <3
6. You Belong With Me 5/10
Ah yes. The other THE Taylor Swift song.
You know. If I went to a high school with a cheerleading squad. And I had a crush on a cheerleader. I would blast this song. So for that it gets a 5/10. Otherwise. Fairly straight and fairly iconic.
7. Breathe 8/10
Well. We know this one is about a woman. (Emily Poe for those not in the know. Ha. A rhyme!) That alone has an 8/10. And it’s the first time she has a featured artist so bonus points for that!
It was nominated for a Grammy and it fucking lost to Jason Mraz. When’s the last time you thought about Jason Mraz.
I will not have Kaylor feels on a fucking Fearless song but damn is it VERY easy.
“Never a clean break, no one here to save me/You're the only thing I know like the back of my hand”
“It's 2 A.M, feeling like I just lost a friend/Hope you know it's not easy, easy for me”
Also this bridge? Goes off. HIGHLY underrated.
8. Tell Me Why 3/10
You know. Maybe this album isn’t as gay as I once thought.
This song does bop though, not as good as her other angry songs on this album. But I can vibe with this you know. Why are you being an asshole mysterious man.
“You could write a book on how to ruin someone's perfect day”
This has to be one of baby Tay’s best burns. Damn.
“Why do you have to make me feel small/So you can feel whole inside?/Why do you have to put down my dreams/So you're the only thing on my mind?”
Men ain’t shit kids. However, bonus points for the shade.
9. You’re not Sorry 1/10
Ok, ok. Maybe this was a foolish endeavor.
Because yet again we have a very straight song. A good song. That was on Taylor’s episode of CSI. But oh dear. Very straight. Gets a measly one point. We started this post off so very very gay but damn. We seem to be nearing the end on a very straight note.
10. The Way I Loved You 20/10
Hey Remember what I said about this album being very straight.
WELL THAT WAS A LIE.
Is this a comphet album or am I projecting.
This is one of my favorite baby gay Taylor songs. Her masterful use of pronouns (he is sensible! And so incredible! And all my single friends are jealous! But I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain, when it was two am and I was cursing your name!) makes the other person she’s singing about completely vague, while we know she isn’t happy with whichever guy she’s dating.
Mayhaps an early reaction to PRomances?
Either way this song is so good, truly an underrated gay gem I mean. Look at it.
“Breaking down and coming undone/It's a roller coaster kind of rush/And I never knew I could feel that much/And that's the way I loved you”
AND THE BRIDGE. Do all of her gay songs just have kickass bridges?
“He can't see the smile I'm faking/And my heart's not breaking/'Cause I'm not feeling anything at all/And you were wild and crazy/Just so frustrating/Intoxicating, complicated/Got away by some mistake and now…”
Damn. I’m imaging this with 2020 vocals and fucking ascending.
Also please watch the live performance of it from the Fearless tour. It’s such a damn shame this got cut from the movie and some woman in the front row is wearing a cowboy hat. Everyone is holding up those cameras everyone had to have before smartphones. Taylor is being endearing. It’s a good time.
11. Forever and Always 6/10
Bonus points for the ~drama~ of it all. Added last minute to the album? The iconic throwing of the chair in live performances?? All of it very dramatique and for that we stan.
Still pretty straight.
Also Joe Jonas responded to the song and why do I find his response so damn funny. “It’s part of being a musician, I guess. You write songs about each other.”
This is another song where the idea of Taylor’s grown up vocals on this is………..whew
12. The Best Day 0/10
This gets zero points because it’s about her literal mom.
Still makes me cry.
God bless Andrea Swift indeed
13. Change 13/10
We start the official tracklist with a gay song. We end it with a gay song.
We will ignore that it was originally written for Scott and BMR and instead induct it into the hall of gay pride anthems, as it should be.
“We're getting stronger now, finding things they never found/They might be bigger but we're faster and never scared/You can walk away, say we don't need this/But there's something in your eyes says we can beat this”
“This revolution, the time will come/For us to finally win/And we'll sing hallelujah, we'll sing hallelujah”
The music video is cringe though lol
14. Jump then Fall 10/10
This song is gay because I choose it to be. <3
Like. Picture baby Taylor writing this song and playing it on her guitar to a girl she has a crush on telling her that she’ll protect her and they’ll be safe and in love and happy together. Gah, maybe I’m ~projecting~ but this sweet ass song always gets me and is EASILY in my top five Taylor songs. Super underrated and hecking cute.
“We're on the phone and without a warning/I realize your laugh is the best sound/I have ever heard”
Like. Look at this shit.
“I watch you talk, you didn't notice/I hear the words but all I can think is/We should be together”
Tell me this is about the first time you get a crush on a girl and she’s your best friend and she’s amazing and beautiful and you realize you kinda want to kiss her and you hope she wants to kiss you too.
“I had time to think it oh, over/And all I can say is come closer/Take a deep breath and jump then fall into me”
And she’s the Romeo who's going to protect her!!!!! She’s the knight in shining armor in this song and I love that for her??
“The bottom's gonna drop out from under our feet/I'll catch you, I'll catch you/When people say things that bring you to your knees/I'll catch you/The time is gonna come when you're so mad you could cry/But I'll hold you through the night until you smile”
I won’t divulge into full on analysis here because. This is what this post is about but PLEASE listen to this song more. It’s such a gay little gem.
15. Untouchable 9/10
How does she make a cover sound gay.
It sounds so gay.
“You got to come on, come on, say that we'll be together/Come on, come on, little taste of heaven”
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
16. Forever and Always Piano Version 1/10
This song gets 1/10 because I don’t like it. There. I said it.
17. Come in With the Rain 3/10
I can see why this is a bonus track. It doesn’t hit me as much as the other songs on the album.
But damn if I don’t want to scream sing this one driving down a high way.
18. Superstar 7/10
You can’t tell me this song is about a man. I simply won’t entertain the idea.
You cannot prove to me that this song is about a man. There is not a male pronoun in sight.
>:)
19. The Other Side of the Door 6/10
Is this song about having a fight about being in the closet? Probably not. Will my gay little brain make it about that? Yep!
And that, funky little queer pals, is my gay rating of every Fearless song. Like and subscribe, #t3atmidnight

Queer Analysis - I Think He Knows
Hi everybody and happy LOVER release weekend!! 😁😁🍾🥂💖
I hope you’re all enjoying the album and have managed to get your first impressions sorted in your minds! 🤔😊
This song isn’t actually next on my analyses list (obviously, since it just came out) and no one asked me to take a look at it per say, but it immediately stood out to me as one of the few songs heavy on pronoun…
At first it seems like a generic hetero bop about being in love with and/or sexually attracted to the dude you’re dating which, yay, good for you! But as I am inclined to do in these situations I decided to look a little deeper and reached a conclusion on the themes and events chronicled in I Think He Knows.
In addition to being incredibly catchy this is a curious song and I’ve seen very little talk on the themes and motifs of it in the Gaylor/Kaylor community. Thus I was excited to analyze it and so I decided to do it immediately to celebrate the release of the album! 💖
What caught my interest on this track is that I don’t think it’s a case where the male pronoun is meant to be switched out to female ones in order to create a queer love song. Instead I think this is meant to be (at least partly) sung to a male, two to be exact. Who are they then, these people that are cast as “He” in the song?
They’re (unsurprisingly) Joe and (perhaps slightly more surprising) Josh.
Karlie is also present here of course, playing the role of “You” while Taylor is “I”
I’ll explain my somewhat unusual reading of the song in a second, but first I want to get the usual disclaimers out of the way.
This is my own reading of this song and I understand that it might seem like a giant reach to some, if it does to you you’re free to disagree with me and to read other things into the song as you please. I love discussing the various ways in which Taylor’s very layered music can be read and interpreted. 😊
The lyrics used in this analysis are taken from AZlyrics and I am forever thankful to them for making my job a whole lot easier!  😊😊
Now, here we go!
--
I think he knows
His footprints on the sidewalk
Lead to where I can't stop
Go there every night
--
Okay, so who is “he” and what does “he” know, exactly? Honestly these first few lines bewildered me for a bit, until I realized, “he” in this first verse is Josh, Karlie’s beard.
So what is Taylor saying? She’s talking about a sidewalk where she can’t stop, meaning she can’t go there or at least not hang around on this public sidewalk. Yet she says she goes there every night.
Interestingly there’s a kind of infamous sidewalk in New York City dedicated to Karlie and Josh’s “relationship.”
Do y’all remember that sidewalk with their initials on it? The one that used to have Taylor and Karlie’s initials on it with a heart between them but now has “J ❤️ KK” written in place of “T ❤️KK”
Karlie would use it it rather frequently to stunt a while back.
Taylor says that “Josh’s footprints on the sidewalk leads somewhere she can’t stop.”
This is likely not literal, but rather she means that her name is no longer there next to Karlie’s in a public display of affection, in fact she can’t be seen in public with Karlie so she cannot go to a place (literal or metaphorical) where their love is displayed in public. If she was seen standing by the initials or interacting with them in any way (like Karlie does) that would obviously raise questions, just like it would if she was seen interacting with or even standing next to Karlie. That public link has been (literally in the case of the sidewalk initials) replaced with Josh, who can in fact be seen with Karlie in public and is continuously referenced by Karlie through her posting of that sidewalk picture.
Taylor is sure to point out however that despite not being able to have her public displays of affection for or with Karlie seen she “goes there” every night. Meaning she gives Karlie affection every night behind closed doors.
She, not Josh is the one Karlie comes home to every night despite the public sidewalk initials leading people to believe otherwise.
She goes on to claim that Josh is well aware of this fact. He might be the one allowed to hold Karlie’s hand in public and it might be his name next to her on that pavement, but he also knows that he’s not actually the one to go home with Karlie every night when she’s done being on the aforementioned sidewalk (or in public.)
--
I think he knows
His hands around a cold glass
Make me wanna know that
Body like it's mine
--
These couple of lines are interesting, because on the surface they can be read as: the way Taylor’s lover is doing something casual (like holding onto a glass) drives her wild and makes her think dirty thoughts about how she wishes she was the glass 😂 or makes her want to touch and “get to know” the ins and outs of her lover’s body in a sexual situation as well as she knows her own. As for the lover in question, they are by Taylor’s estimation most likely aware that these small things they do sends Taylor’s mind into the gutter. Makes sense, right? What if I told you she was still talking about Josh?
Now, don’t get alarmed it’s not what you think 😂😂
What Taylor is saying is: “I think he knows that the way he’s publicly holding my girl’s hand make me wish I were him.” As in “I wish I could do that too…”
“Theo, did you just imply that Karlie is a glass?” No…I mean yes, I mean no…Sorta? Stick with me!
So a common term often used when discussing closeted celebrities is “glass closeting” and that’s what I think is at play here, Josh’s hands are blocking our view into Kaylor’s glass closet. By having her “marry” him and constantly having her stunt for him he’s preventing Taylor and Karlie from glass closeting.
His continued presence is blocking the public from fully seeing through the glass into the closet and fully witnessing Taylor and Karlie’s gayness. It’s like when you’re holding onto a glass and it’s blocking everyone else from seeing the liquid inside. Taylor is saying she wishes Josh wasn’t needed anymore and that they could go back to glass closeting. She could go back to doing what Josh is now doing and hold Karlie’s hand in public again. Instead of having him do it and block the view into the glass closet she could do it and open up the glass closet again, like back in 2014.
Basically she’s saying she wants to take over Josh’s place in Karlie’s life by saying she wishes she were him because that’s an easy metaphor to work with.
Is it crack? Is that what I smoke? Very likely. 😂 😂 😂
…But in all seriousness, thought this was an interesting reading of the lines you may disagree if you’d like.
--
He got that boyish look that I like in a man
--
So what about this then? I think she’s implying that Josh and Joe are, well, gay… 🌈🌈🌈🌈
We’re treading into stereotypical territory here, but I think what is meant by this is that they aren’t seen as “traditionally manly” (whatever that means? 🙄) As far as straight standards go these men are inclined to be described as “boyish” rather than “manly.”
People in this fandom constantly point out how flamboyant and “feminine” both these guys are. (x) (x)
Taylor is basically calling them twinks, okay?! 🏳️‍🌈
She goes on to point out that these are the kind of men she likes to be associated with. Not in the sense of being attracted to them, but if she’s going to beard she prefers her beard to be gay. She wants any man she’s going to be romantically linked to in the public narrative to be gay, because as I suspect she (like many women, queer and otherwise) finds that gay men just feel safer to be around + if you’re going to beard with someone I imagine it’s easier if they are also gay so that they understand the necessity of bearding and how it works.
--
I am an architect, I'm drawing up the plans
It's like I'm 17, nobody understands
No one understands
--
These days Taylor is known for being in control of her bearding narratives and decisions, she’s the architect in the sense that she decides (along with Tree) where the plan should go next, but that has not always been the case. When she was younger and had a different publicist I strongly suspect that she had less control over her bearding situation and would frequently find herself helpless and swept along in the narrative her team made for her. (x) This likely led to regrettable situations arising in relationships she had back then. (x)
When it comes to Josh she in many ways feels as if she’s back there. Since Josh doesn’t beard for her she has no control over his bearding plan and therefore no control over her girlfriend’s, possibly leading her to feeling helpless like back when she was younger (17 for example.)
Only being able to control her own situation and not Karlie’s must be frustrating at times since I assume they’d prefer to come out simultaneously and for that their bearding plans would need to line up better. It wouldn’t surprise me if this all brings back memories of Taylor’s early days of trying to date while forcibly closeted and feeling misunderstood in the music industry.
--
 He got my heartbeat
Skipping down 16th Avenue
--
16th Avenue in Nashville is known as Music Row and it’s a bit of a haven for country music as it happens to be the location for several famous record labels and similar music-oriented businesses. What I think is to be implied in this reference is that Taylor’s beard (and also Karlie’s) has got her writing music from a safe space. The existence of “Him” has got her heart skipping down Music Row. Skipping implies happiness and a lightness to her step as she wanders through music, Hidden behind a beard (and male pronouns) she is (mostly) creatively free to be inspired to write music about herself and Karlie to her heart’s content.
It’s interesting however that she would refer to Nashville specifically as that is the home of country music, the genre where Taylor got her start.
Country music is quite conservative and heteronormative which is why she was as we’ve previously discussed very stuck in the closet during her country years. This was most likely why she chose to break away from country music, pop is noticeably less conservative after all, but she says, as long as she (or her girlfriend) continues to beard she will never be completely free of her Nashville (hetero) roots and will only ever be able to write heteronormative music.
So for now even though she doesn’t associate herself with the heteronormative music community in Nashville anymore she has to keep writing music that flies there. As long as she keeps using male pronoun and bearding she’s metaphorically stuck on 16th Avenue and can’t leave those years of aggressive no-homo:ing firmly in her past.
However it’s not all bad, after all her brand is going strong and her music does very well with her earliest country-based fans, so stuck as she might be she’s still skipping. She’s found a comfortable niche writing about guys and she’s not complaining per say. She’d just like to be able to put 16th Avenue and the hetero parts of her songwriting (like male pronouns and conservative Nashville values) behind her to a full extent because that’s a persona crafted for her when she was much younger, it’s not who she really is and she’s tired of hiding her authentic self.
--
Got that, oh, I mean
Wanna see what's under that attitude like
I want you, bless my soul
--
This can obviously be read as Taylor’s lover having a cool, sexy attitude and her wanting to get to know them well enough that she gets to know what they’re like when they’re not trying to act cool or tough, when they’re just being themselves. It can even be read as a cheeky way to say “I wanna get you naked” (either as in “emotionally naked” as I just described, or  as in “I wanna see what’s under your clothes/get under that cocky attitude that has you acting like you don’t want me even though you clearly do!”)
But I think what she actually means is that Josh has a fucking attitude, he acts like he’s entitled to Karlie’s time and loyalty just because he pays her. He acts like she’s his to boss around (see: wedding stunts and contractual obligations) but Taylor says that despite him standing in the way with his attitude she still wants Karlie. (or “You)
I think the fact that she switches from “he” to “you” for the first time here is significant, she’s no longer talking about the men in their lives she’s talking directly to Karlie saying she wants her despite the complications and she’s willing to take on Josh Kushner and his attitude and shadiness  to get to her.
As for the “bless my soul” I interpret that as a sort of “god help me” she’s saying she’s about to get tangled up in something real messy (aka the Kushners) for Karlie’s sake and despite that being unwise she can’t help herself because Karlie’s worth it and she still wants her.
God help her, she’s gonna try to get her girl out of this mess by getting underneath the beard’s skin and figuring out what it takes to get him to let Karlie go.  She might not actually do it as I imagine Karlie shot Taylor’s attempts at (perhaps financially) helping Karlie out of the messy contract, but the point of the song is she’s saying she’s prepared to do it for Karlie.
God help them, this is bad, but there’s no turning back now.
--
And I ain't gotta tell him, I think he knows
I think he knows
--
Finally Taylor says no one has to tell any of the men in her life that she doesn’t actually want them, she wants Karlie. This is a sarcastic little nod to the general public who when they figure out that Taylor is gay might go: “What about Joe?” She’s jokingly saying, “guys, I don’t think I have to tell him I like girls, or specifically (in Josh’s case) his beard, I think he’s very aware, we have a deal!” Aka “guys, I think he knows we’re not actually dating” she’s cheekily saying he (both Joe and Josh) is in on it being a stunt.
--
I think he knows
When we get all alone
I'll make myself at home
And he'll want me to stay
--
The second verse is for Joe I think, so for now we’re done with Josh.
Here Taylor is not talking about her and Joe though, the “we” here is rather her and Karlie. Remember, Karlie is “You” so “We” is “Me and You” not “Me and Him”
She’s saying that when her and Karlie are all alone and in private Taylor feels most comfortable and at home and Joe, who is well aware of the fact that Taylor’s “safe place” isn’t actually with him, but rather with Karlie will want Taylor to stay and hang out with her girl rather than with him.
He doesn’t actually want to spend his private (or “alone”) time with Taylor, he leaves that pleasure for Karlie who’s you know, is dating Taylor.
Joe only wants to be seen in public with Taylor when it can get him publicity; he doesn’t wanna hang out with her for fun when they’re alone/not in public. Then he presumably has his own boyfriend to hang out with so Taylor can stay at Karlie’s until he needs her again.
--
I think he knows
He better lock it down
Or I won't stick around
'Cause good ones never wait (Ha)
--
This part sounds like an impatient Taylor trying to get a lover who can’t take a hint to propose already, but I think it’s actually about when she first turned up in Joe’s life and offered to beard with him. She’s saying he should count himself lucky to have her in his life because without her he’s a total nobody. “Hollywood’s Next Leading Man™” knows he better hold onto Taylor and take her up on the offer immediately because someone as famous as her with so much free (potentially career-starting) publicity to offer might not ever come his way again and if she doesn’t want her she has tons of other bearding options to choose from.
--
(Chorus)
--
He's so obsessed with me and, boy, I understand
Boy, I understand
--
The chorus is mostly the same as before save for this one line above. While she has no control over the situation with Josh and therefore is left feeling helpless like back when she was 17 and all bearding-decisions were made for rather than by her the situation with Joe is different. Here she has the control and she dangles that control almost teasingly in front of Joe here. This line might sound borderline narcissistic from a hetero perspective like, *straight-girl-voice*: “my boyfriend is like, so obsessed with me and like, I can’t say I blame him, ‘cause like, have you seen me? Lol”
Though I think that this means that Joe is obsessed with her as a concept and the boost her star power gives to his career and therefore wants her around him all the time in public because he’s only relevant when she’s around him. She’s like “I get that Joe, but I don’t have time for you right now” rather than feeling helpless she holds the cards here and he is the helpless one and she understands what it’s like to depend on a bearding-partner for publicity and hetero-passing because she has been there too. Boy, she understands your struggle…
--
Lyrical smile, indigo eyes, hand on my thigh
We can follow the sparks, I'll drive
Lyrical smile, indigo eyes, hand on my thigh
We can follow the sparks, I'll drive
"So where we gonna go?"
I whisper in the dark
"Where we gonna go?"
I think he knows
--
Like I said though she doesn’t always have time for Joe because sometimes she’s alone with Karlie. Sometimes they go to Big Sur or somewhere else to get away from the chaos of bearding for a while and while they are away only Karlie and that smile of hers that is so easy to write songs about and those eyes that are green but almost look indigo in some lights exists. Only Karlie exists for Taylor most of the time, not the beards, only Karlie.
Taylor drives (”she’s a really good driver”) them away and out of this town and Karlie’s hand rests on Taylor’s thigh in a familiar yet sexy reassurance, at least for now it’s only the two of them and they are FREE to go wherever they want.
At the end of the day their beards know that Taylor and Karlie belong to each other and not to the men they have in their lives only out of (a sad, frustrating) necessity.
--
(Chorus)
--
Hope you liked my somewhat “out-there” take on this song and that it made some amount of sense to you  😂😂
Feel free to request other songs for me to analyze or to send me questions or fanfic prompts, anything goes and my askbox is always open! 😊
The next song I’m gonna tackle for Queer analysis is Jump Then Fall and I’m working on it so it should be up in the near future!  ❤️🌈🌈

There are some kaylors harassing sessioners, which is awful. :( Especially picking on anyone who says she talked about Joe or 'her boyfriend'. I don't know what they think they are going to achieve by doing this, it's not like the sessioners are going to say, "Oh you're right, we are lying about her talking about how happy she is with Joe, and yes Karlie was there the whole time and they were making out". Shade never made anybody less sure that Taylor has a boyfriend she loves. 1/2
2/2 I can see why kaylors are bummed out b/c Taylor apparently didn't come out in a song on this album or use she/her pronouns in a love song, or mention Karlie at all, and it's obvious that she's still talking about Joe and so she hasn't 'shaved the beard'. Must be really disappointing to people who really thought the Lover era was the one where Taylor would be 'free to be her true self'(which she is, but they don't like her true self). Still, don't harass sessioners! That goes for everybody.
—————————
How about don’t harass anybody? That goes for anyone.
Are they really going out of their way to say things to sessioners? Or just complaining about them on their own blogs?

Happy Holidays, Karli! We are thrilled to “invite” Lavender Brown (fc Alisha Boe) back to Hogsmeade for a little forced Winter Cheer. We adored how past, directly post war, and current all worked so well in your app--from family dynamics to current werewolf (or not) infection.
Please pack your bags and send in your tumblr. Additional information can be found here!
OOC DETAILS:
NICKNAME: Karli
AGE: 27
PRONOUNS: She/Her
ACTIVITY  ESTIMATE: Around 6-7 probably. I generally am on every single day through mobile, but I can’t post every day. T/W are usually a no for me as far as posting goes, but I’m on in the weekends fairly regularly.
CHARACTER DETAILS:
FULL NAME & NICKNAMES: Lavender Claudia Brown
BIRTHDATE: November 3rd (”That’s a Scorpio, a water sign. Professor Trelawney always said that we are called that because we can be as mysterious as the ocean itself. Don’t you find me mysterious?”)
BLOOD-STATUS: Half-blood
GENDER IDENTITY: Cis-Female
GENDER PRESENTATION/PRONOUNS: Female, She/Her
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Pansexual. Lavender likely doesn’t think much about her sexuality and perhaps doesn’t even know this word (it is the early 2000s, after all, and sexuality wasn’t as understood), but she does understand that she likes pretty things and people. If someone catches her attention, she’s on it. It doesn’t matter if it’s a boy, girl, or something else entirely. Well, perhaps not everything else… she’d like to them to be human. Like, Professor Lupin was good-looking and all, but…
CHARACTER SITUATION:
OCCUPATION: what do they do for a living?
Lavender owns a very small shop in Diagon Alley, just on the border between Diagon and Knockturn. Not actually Knockturn, but no one wanted the little place with the boarded up windows so close to all the dark happenings (you think there would be less without a war, but apparently not!) so rent is cheap and it adds to the appeal. Her shop is supposed to be mysterious, you see!
It’s called Azure Moon (as in “Welcome to Azure Moon, are you ready to awaken your aura?”) and it’s a mystical shop. She sells various items for the art of Divination, such as tarot cards, tea leaves, and crystal balls. There is also a line of homemade hand creams, scents, and other products that are geared towards enriching the experience. In the back, Lavender will provide a tarot or palm reading for an additional fee. No, she will not blow you for a bit extra coin, thank you very much!
Her scars ended up choosing the name for her. Many people actually assume she’s a werewolf since her attack. There are so many rumors around the species that people often believe they can “catch” lycanthropy from a simple touch. What wix don’t realize is that actual werewolves wouldn’t have scratch marks like Lavender’s cursed wounds. She lets the rumors go, though - it adds to the appeal of the shop. She often gets business simply because teenagers dare one another to enter or adults just have to see and no one leaves without a purchase after her wolf eyes catch them staring.
HOUSING:
Lavender lives in the flat above her shop by herself. It’s even tinier than Azure Moon - with a little bathroom with the sliding wood door, while everything else fit into the one room. Her bed is off to the side with bulbs of light hanging around it from the ceiling. Scented candles or incense burn at the table in the corner. She has a purple couch with a teal rug, wood floors. Shawls and blankets in varying places. Not quite Trelawney because Lavender is much more fashionable, but there’s an aura about the place anyway. In her bathroom, she has an entire closest dedicated to hair products, scrunchies, nail polish, and make up. Her vanity is her sanctuary… even if it barely fits next to the toilet!
SOCIAL STANDING:
She’s nothing. Well, not nothing to herself or her friends or whatever - but to the Wizarding World… nothing. She had joined the D.A., yes. She fought the Carrows, yes. She nearly gave her life to the Battle of Hogwarts, yes. But she’s no war hero. She hadn’t even taken down a Death Eater before her fall! The world does not remember her name, even though it was in the papers once as one of the injured. Ginny and Neville and Luna - they led the rebellion. Harry and Ron and Hermione - they took down Voldemort. Lavender is nothing.
But she’ll be damned if she’s not remembered for something before she goes!

CHARACTER HISTORY: (It says “short” paragraph but I got a bit carried away on some of them!)
FAMILY BACKGROUND
When Felicity Brown got pregnant right out of Hogwarts, her family was appalled. They were purebloods, after all! Maybe not Sacred 28 or anything of that caliber, but still… purebloods had standards! And with a stranger, no less! Felicity claimed the man had also been a pureblood wizard, but she didn’t even know his last name, so what was the truth, really? Her family kept it up, though. It was easier to explain to the neighbors and friends that a mistake with the potion had happened (each retelling had it less and less on Felicity’s shoulders) while keeping up appearances of little Lavender’s bloodline.
For the first two years of her life, she’d lived with her mom and grandparents in a nice home in a magical community. Such a beautiful baby, Felicity put her daughter in bows and dresses and teeny tiny golden robes. So precious! people gushed and Felicity smiled because that’s what was expected. She began to notice, however, that the way her parents treated her daughter was different than the other grandchildren. Well, she was married out of wedlock, after all! And it had been obvious that even the claim of a pure bloodline wasn’t enough to keep her parents happy.
She left without a word, dragging her crying toddler into the stormy wind, apparating to a new home in the countryside. And wasn’t it such a coincidence the muggle owners suddenly wanted to move out and leave the deeds to a young, single mother? Felicity had assumed muggle life would be easy. After all, she had magic on her side! Finding a job had been simple once she learned the trick of enchanting a parchment to say exactly what an employer wanted to see. But acting the part. That had been a bit tougher. Still, if she became fairly good at those memory charms, no one from the ministry had come knocking!
As Lavender grew up, she learned of the Wizarding World, but only the basics. Hogwarts, wands, robes, magic. Nothing about the details. She loved her mother but, once, she wished she could visit her grandparents again. Felicity, however, liked to keep her daughter close. They’d grown up together, after all. A child having a child.
She poured over magazines - both magical and muggle alike - and didn’t even realize that it wasn’t normal for a parent to prefer to spend most days inside the house. That it wasn’t normal for boxes to be stacked in the house, filled with trinkets and trash and those cut outs from 1984. (”Oh, honey, we can’t throw them out! We may need them some day!” her mom had said more than once).
All Lavender knew was that she was ready to get out of the clutter. She was ready for Hogwarts, where she could style her hair for people to actually see it.
LIFE DURING THE WAR
The castle was beautiful and, oh, look at the floating candles! There are elves here! And ghosts! Hogwarts had been spectacular. Even with deaths and tournaments and ever-changing teachers and heartbreak and Harry Bloody Potter messing things up for everyone! Even with the war looming, Hogwarts was spectacular. And maybe that’s why the death of Albus Dumbledore had been so shocking. She’d thought they were untouchable.
But Voldemort had taken over, The Chosen Jerk had fled with her dolt of an ex-boyfriend, and Lavender had realized that beautiful things could be dangerous. Hogwarts turned dark. The Carrows and Severus Snape took over, tormenting the students, and leading the students’ lives down a place that only ended in bloodshed. Lavender realized, for the very first time it seemed, how much a blood status mattered. She’d always been half-blood… safe. But she knew so little about the Wizarding World and, whenever quizzed, she’d failed. The curse of a parent who did not want anything to do with the wixen any longer.
She continued with the D.A. - but only after asked. She snuck out of the common room - but only with a group. She wasn’t the leader here! And, even if she tried to be, no one would ever follow her. People have been underestimating Lavender her entire life, why would they stop just because a war was going on? She tried to resist as much as she could whenever the Carrows told her to torture someone, but sometimes she felt like she just had to. After all, if she didn’t do it – didn’t Crabbe and Goyle just get called in? And they were so much worse than her! It wasn’t an everyday thing, but she did do it and knew that sometimes that meant people judged her. But whatever – she was still fighting the damn war, wasn’t she?
She stayed for the Battle of Hogwarts. Of course she stayed! But it wasn’t even halfway through when Greyback attacked. The world had exploded and she’d been thrown over the edge and he’d bitten into her body. Her skin had been eaten. She couldn’t remember much after that. Not the stirring or the hexes or people finding her body. She was alive – but was she?
LAST THREE YEARS
The first four months after the war had been spent in St. Mungo’s. Not just for the cursed wounds – though there was a gnarly scar on her neck from the place Greyback’s teeth had sunk into her, as well as others on her face, a few on her stomach – but also just… the rest of it. She’d been left to die for hours in that unsteady Hogwarts corridor. She’d been hit with stray curses, pieces of debris had partly covered her body. There were bones to fix and regrow, wounds to heal, hexes to trace, antidotes to drink. She didn’t have to learn to walk or write or anything again, but her memory stayed hazy and there were things she forgot. Had she taken her meds yet? Did the healers visit yet? That is mostly better now, but Lavender still struggles with short-term stuff every now and again.
The shop came later – much later. After being released from the hospital, she went back to her mum’s house. Felicity, who had given up the Wizarding World for good (other than using her wand for simple things), had tried to use Lavender’s injuries as proof that it was dangerous. She tried keeping her daughter away from everything magical and, for the first year, it almost worked. Lavender was still recovering, she couldn’t live on her own. At first, she didn’t realize her mother was isolating her but, when letters from Parvati were never given or her friend never received Lavender’s, she realized.
She left just before the one year anniversary, leased the shop, and didn’t look back. She still writes to her mother sometimes – she does love her, after all – but she also needs space and doesn’t visit often. This is her life and she gets to choose how to live it! Which is maybe why she’s been getting so annoyed with Parvati lately. All she ever did was talk about Lavender’s scars – her symptoms. Lavender was more than constant shaving and cursed wounds and growling in anger and if her friend was devoting her entire life to fixing her, did she really love Lavender for who she was? Sure, maybe Lavender gets a little squeamish around actual werewolves – but she’s not one, so why does it matter? All she knows is that if Parvati doesn’t just give it up soon, Lavender may explode.
HOLIDAY DETAILS:
Her mother is not religious - it’s something she says with pride, smirking at whatever expression the other person gives - and so Lavender was not raised with any sort of real religious tradition. However, they do celebrate Christmas because Felicity believes it’s a time to give gifts, get drunk, and stuff their faces.
Being just the two of them, they spent Lavender’s breaks from school with hot cocoa (lots of marshmallows!), crappy romantic Christmas films on television, cuddled up in blankets on the couch. Lavender loves her mum - even now! But it’s also hard losing some of that easy connection. Her decision to fight in the war hadn’t just screwed her up - it messed with a lot of her relationships, too.
Something else Lavender did with her mum growing up was look at all the lights. They would go out every year - Lavender holding the side of the car for dear life, as Felicity had never actually been trained in driving and had charmed her papers to get her license - and argued over who had the best house. It was fun and something Lavender missed last year when she decided not to spend the holiday with her mother.
She hasn’t told her mum she won’t be heading home this year either and, given there is no Daily Prophet for Felicity Brown, Lavender will eventually have to find her Gryffindor courage. She’s not exactly angry for the celebration. It’ll be weird going back to school, but she’s happy to see her old friends, show off her new robes or muggle dresses, and hear all the gossip. She’s also planning on setting up a table to sell a bit from her shop. So, if it’ll get her a bit of extra coins, then why not? It’s life after war… might as well get a bit drunk and have some fun!
OOC SUPPLEMENT:
SHIPS: Nope! This would be my first time playing Lavender, if accepted, and I have literally no preference. My biggest thing is… I definitely need chemistry and build up! I’m the slow-burn queen and can’t just jump into something without any build.
CHANGES: Nope, I think we’re good!
FACECLAIM: Alisha Boe or Vajèn van den Bosch

Dress ━ a Kaylor analysis & explanation.
I still can’t believe I’m actually doing this
The point is that I litteraly can’t stop listening Dress & Dancing With Our Hands Tide and overthinking about Kaylor, so I decided to share my most accurate analysis with you, you’re welcome.
FIRST OF ALL, the TITLE.  Now, “Dress” is not a bad title and neither a brilliant one, but it fits perfectly to a SUPER MODEL, doesn’t it?
OUR SECRET MOMENTS in a crowded room  ] ↝ so they can’t show their love if there were people around.
They’ve got no idea about me and YOU ]  ↝ not only Taylor choose to speak directly to the person she is singing about, avoiding the use of pronouns ( good call, babe ), but here and everywhere in the song ( and in DWOHT too ) there are some references to “I know places” ( another gaylor song that is probably about Karlie ).
There is an INDENTATION in the shape of you  ] ↝ here she’s koding with Klossy, but I’m not taking credits for this: so clik here if you want read the original theory.
Made your mark on me a GOLDEN TATTOO  ] ↝ are you talking about this golden tattoos, tay tay? That’s from Drake’s birthday party, she had three golden tattoos ( one on her back, one on her decoltè, one around the arm ), and guess who was with her that night…
( let’s skip the first part of the chorus, we’ll talk about it later. )
Say my name and everything just stops
I don’t want you like a BEST FRIEND  ] ↝  Taylor has so many friend… but her bestie is Karlie, case closed.
Only bought this dress so you could take it off  ] ↝ if she’s talking about Karlie, this quote have a double meaning: 1) I bought this dress so you can undress me // 2 ) I bought this dress FOR YOU, and I want to undress you later.
Carve your name into my BEDPOST  ] ↝  you guys remember when Taylor declare she had a bed just for Karlie in her houses, don’t you?
Cause I don’t want you like a best friend  ] ↝ and that’s the reason why Karlie’s name is not on your junior jewels t-shirt, Tay?
Inescapable, I’m not even going to try  ] ↝ double meaning, again: they can’t escape from the world they live in, a world that will judge them // or she can’t escape from Karlie, she can’t help but falling in love with her.
And if I get burned, at least we were electrified
I’m spilling wine in the bathtub, you KISS my face and we’re both drunk ] ↝ are we talking abut the kissgate?
Everyone thinks that they know us, but they know nothing about…  ] ↝  this line is GORGEOUS. She is saying that everyone thinks to know them and the relationship that they share, but they know nothing about:
All of this silence and patience, pining and anticipation My hands are shaking from holding back from you (ah, ah, ah) All of this silence and patience, pining and desperately waiting My hands are shaking from all this (ah, ha, ha, ha) ] ↝  more like “they think they know us, but they know nothing about the way that I love you ( or the way that I want you)”.
Flash back when you met me  ] ↝  Victoria Secret Fashion Show, 2013 Your buzzcut and my hair bleached  ] ↝  Taylor had hair bleach in 2016, “buzzcut” can be an hairstyle or a dress, they both can fit on Karlie.  Even in my worst times, you could see the best of me  Flash back to my mistakes, my rebounds, my earthquakes  ] ↝ so this is a long relationship, they have been through a lot of ups and downs, from the 2013 to the 2016 ( / 17 ) maybe?  Even in my worst lies, you saw the truth in me  ] ↝  you can also read this as “even if I was pretending I was 100% straight, like the perfect America’s Sweetheart, you undestood I was actually bisexual”.  And I woke up just in time, now I wake up by your side  ] ↝  did I have to remind you that Taylor had a fucking bed for Karlie in her houses, and that they had been seen more than once leaving her appartament together in the morning?  My one and only, my lifeline My hands are shaking, can’t explain this ] ↝  she is basically saying that she couldn’t explain to herself ( or to Karlie ) why her hands were shaking and what she was feeling when she still thought that they were just friends.
There is an indentation in the shape of you  ] ↝  in the end, she remark to important things related to Karlie: 1) the code - language  ( Only bought this dress so you could take it off ) You made your mark on me, golden tattoo  ] ↝ 2) the golden tattoo.  ( Only bought this dress so you could take it off )
and I’ll leave you here some EXTRA kaylor facts about this song:
The handwritten lyrics of this song are in the Deluxe Edition, vol 2 ( which is the gayest ). In the same magazine, we can also find two pics of Taylor wearing her rainbow dress and the handwritten lyrics of DWOHT;
She NEVER said this song was about Joe ( unlike for Gorgeous or Call it what you want );
But she said that she’s been working on this song for long time, trying to choose which quotes were the better ones. That not only cut Joe out of the game, but is also totally understandable: she wanted to write a song about her girlfriend without either hiding it or saying it out loud, I bet it was hard ;
Some people keep saying that there is a connection between Wildest Dreams and Getaway Car because they are both the 9th song in their album. Interesting. Do you remember what was the 12th song on 1989? Exactly, it was “I know places”, a gaylor song ;
Now, let’s talk about the end of Look What You Made Me Do, with the 15 Taylor who represent the 15 songs. As you can notice, the 13th Taylor is the Snake Queen, and it totally fit with the 13th song, “This is why we can’t have nice things”, while the 9th Taylor is the one with the boy who were wearing the i-love-ts t-shirt, and the 9th song "Getaway Car”, which is about Tom Hiddleston. Now, Dress is the 12th song, and the 12th Taylor is the ballerina from Shake it Off. The ONE & ONLY REASON behind this choice must be the fact that Karlie was a ballerina ( & Tayor spent a whole interview talking about it ) ;
Ruby Rose said on instagram that this song remind her of her girlfriend. Now, here you need to know about something that has been said about the people in Taylor’s squad. According to this articol that I found time ago, everything that they wrote about Taylor must be approved from her before it goes online on socials. If that’s true, this can be an important hint, don’t you think?
At last, this is a very sexy song, and they met in a very sexy event, the VSFS. Can this be a little clue?
So, my job here is done, let me know what you think about it and feel free to add more, I’ll be happy to read it. And, yes, I’ll do a “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” analysis too, wait for it

Reputation is Very Easily Interpreted as Gay and Here’s How...
Hey. So as a gay person, Reputation is sooo easily interpreted as gay af and I’m gonna tell you how, song by song.
DIsclaimer: Even if I reference Taylor/her ship couples, etc. it is all in fun and because I like interpreting things as queer, not trynna say Taylor herself is actually queer or saying anything about her actual life or sexuality, I’m really just talking about the music here ect. Also, some of these are weak but some are SO queer it’s like, not even funny.
Ready for it: “Knew he was a killer...no one has to know” the verses feel like satire, and though we already knew that and can chalk it up to media perception of her, this is also the only time in the song where she uses prounouns--when she is being satirical. Also she refers to the dude as a “jailer” which, like, gay. The chorus names no pronouns and feels much more real than the verses. The music get’s very dreamy and “old taylor” here. This is what the public doesn’t see. Also, if you wanna go Kaylor here, there’s that whole “Burton to my Taylor” thing that had to do with some place they went.
End Game: All “you” pronouns. No references by Taylor to a dude. “Your eyes are like liquor and body is gold” I’m sorry, but like, (and yes I did see this somewhere else but I agree) who’d actually say that about a dude? “I know what they all say [media about her being boy crazy] but I ain’t trying to play [about relationship with girl]”
I Did Something Bad: She’s playin all the dudes in this one. The something bad is liking a girl cause of how the world views being gay. Or playing all the dudes is bad but she keeps doing it anyway. Either way, heterosexual love is not happening here, my dudes. Also no pronouns referring to new love, only about her exes.
Don’t Blame Me: Gayyy. Again, references to all the dudes she’s been playin. “And toyin with them older guys, just a plaything for me to use.” Also, “And I would fall from grace, just to touch your face...For you I would cross the line...” Cross the gay line (haha) also, “fall from grace” fall from her super perfect het pedestal, become talk of the media and everything that would come from being gay. This song just gives off heavy gay vibes, especially with how she tried to make it sound religious while combining lyrics “I would fall from grace” is a very queer type of deal here, it kinda gives off a vibe of doing something wrong that can come with queerness, etc. And this song reminds me of “Take me to Church” by Hozier, and the gays love Hozier. Also, I have zero evidence for this one, but the “once was poison ivy but now I’m your daisy” line reminds me of the character Poison Ivy who is not straight and the song Daisy by Zedd ft. Julia Micheals which I have interpreted as gay af and is one of my go-to crush songs.
Delicate: Gay. “Is it cool that I said all that? Is it chill that you’re in my head? Cause I know that it’s delicate. Isn’t it?” Fits the very queer theme of uncertainty in telling the girl you like that you like her because “ohmygod what if she decides she doesn’t like me, or doesn’t want to date girls or ohmygod what if I come off predatory” ect. Also, parts of this song are so wistful sounding- especially the “Sometimes I wonder when you sleep, are you ever dreaming of me? Sometimes when I look into your eyes I pretend you're mine, all the damn time 'Cause I like you” lines which can fit with the uncertainty of queer relationships
Also, side note here, that line coupled with “my reputation’s never been worse so you must like me for me”  like, yes, I get this is a beginning of a relationship song, but it feels a lot like the person she’s with really is just here for her reputations and she just really wishes they aren’t and is trying to convice herself of that---this would be a straight reading of it and also no comment on tay’s actual meaning or life, just thought that was an interesting way to look at it
Look What You Made Me Do: This song hurts my soul too much to analyze it it’s so effing extra and I don’t really like it... buttt she did sample from “Too Sexy For My Shirt” which is a gay anthem and she did give them writing credits for the song so miss me with that “Taylor is stealing” shit
So It Goes: Once again, no pronouns. It’s a very queer-themed “hiding our secret bad relationship” song again. Also the “lipstick on your face” can be interpreted as Tay’s lipstick or the other girl’s lipstick already on her lips. There’s also something I’ve read about the “Scratches down your back” possibly being inverse cause of how short tay keeps her nails for playing guitar (or gay reasons if you wanna read it like that--jk i don’t have an opinion on tay’s sexuality)
Gorgeous: Gayyy. A personal favorite, this is my go to crush song. Firstly, gorgeous is not a word one would generally use to describe some dude you’re attracted to. This is a feminine word and while she refers to her “Boyfriend in the club doing I don’t know what,” she doesn’t reference the gender of the person she is talking about. Also, she doesn’t sound too fond of her boyfriend? Also this is my go to “I have a crush song” so I say it’s gay sorry.
Getaway Car: “I wanted to leave him, I needed a reason” she wants to get away from this dude, you know, cause she’s gay. Doesn’t mention the gender of the person she’s with. This is a gay one night stand my dudes
King Of My Heart: Only refers to love interest as “King of My Heart” but no actual pronouns. I’m feelin the gay vibes by this point, though, so I’ll look past it. Also, “up on the roof with a school girl crush, drinking beer out of plastic cups” like you can interpret this as they bout have school girl crushes. Also, all the Kaylor’s think this is about Karlie Kloss, so there’s that.
Dancing With Our Hands Tied: Queer themes af. G.A.Y. So this song and Dress are the Gayest straight songs I have ever heard. We are back to forbidden love here, folks. “I loved you in secret” gay. “Invisible locket” cause she can’t have their love on display cause it’s gay and forbidden, “Secret oasis...dancing with our hands tied” gay cause they can’t show the world and potentially hurt their careers “deep fears that the world would divide us” cause they’re gay and in the spotlight, “I’d kiss you as...If I could dance with you again” forbidden, wistful love is a gay theme guys this song is just so gay. Also, Kaylor’s also think this is about Karlie cause of the whole kissgate thing that happened whenever that shit was--but like, understandable, so there’s that.
Dress: GAy Gay gay gayest straight song ever in my gay opinion. “our secret moments in a crowded room: “silence and patience pining and anticipation” both gay. We back to that secretive shit. That’s really gay. Why would a straight couple be having to hide like this? Cause this isn’t a hiding from the media song, this is a hiding fro, everyone song. “Carve your name into my bedpost, cause I don’t want you like a best friend, only bought this dress so you could take it off” THIS IS LITERALLY ONE OF THE BIGGEST LESBIAN TROPES EVER. Falling for your best friend and sure, girls fall for and have guy friends, but the phrasing “I don’t want you like a best friend” is such a gay statement. Using “don’t want you like a best friend” instantly queers it up cause she could have structured this as a “I want you as more than a friend” but there is an implied “supposed to” when she phrases it like that like “I don’t want you like a best friend [is supposed to]” because she want’s the girl in a sexual way and not just as her best friend I’m sorry I’m rambling but like... realizing you’re gay for a best friend is such a gay trope I can’t even explain to you oh my god.
This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things: After dress, this isn’t super gay, but she kinda has to tone the gay down after that. “And here’s to my baby, he aint reading what they call me lately” feels kinda comp het after dress though. But this is also supposed to be a shade-y fun song so it’s fine
Call It What You Want: She does refer to her dude,  but as I’ve seen people mention before, she then uses the phrase “call it what you want” about the relationship. This feels kinda comp het after dress and Dancing With Our Hands Tied too but like, it’s fine
New Years Day: Cute af, no pronouns, het boys could never lmao jk there’s not much to this one
