Also the fact that Alastor was immediatly so pissed when Luci just steped into hotel is really strange. Maybe something happened between them that we dont know so far? Cuz purposely making Luci mad literally 5 secs after u met each other is really weird.

Also when Lilith took little Charlie away from Luci, it was sad, but it actually made me think, what if Lilith will be an antogonist? What if she will be the bad person? Maybe the main vilian even. I think if that will actually happen everyone will go CRAZY. But thats just my lil thought.

and Charlies reaction to that was actually really heartbreaking
And everything ended up with Adam winning. I really hope that justice will overtake in this whole situation and Charlies plan will work. And im really interested to see Charlie n Vaggies relationships after that reveal. I honestly think that Charlie will forgive her, but its still really interesting.

I love morning lobby, dumbdog who is a long time streamer and been around the block (he's actually my favorite to watch) but he's had to acknowledge/apologize multiple times when he took things way too far. He's not the only one, though. Many people in that lobby have had to in the past and some will still get a little to into it sometimes but you know theyre friends and I love it coz it's nice they're still so passionate!!!
They've done a really good job of continuously working on balancing things and making sure everyone is having a good time. It's not always perfect but you can tell they really try and that makes such a difference!

Yeah exactly! Everyone gets tilted or toxic at some point in their life, it's normal, and it's to be expected on some level. But there's a difference between 'maybe got too heated or frustrated and then realized you fucked up later', vs "every goddamn second of every day is screaming and yelling and fighting".
You can get competitive and get too into it, but quite clearly that is not what Dasnerth got banned for. Like, the message is very clear that this is an ongoing issue with him, and he got banned well over 5 months ago. They even offered to unblacklist him if he behaved, and clearly he couldn't do that.
Like, 5up has also had moments where he gets toxic or frustrated. Hafu's got her moments, DK gets tilted and throws. It happens to everyone at some point. But they work past it, they move on, and it's mistakes, not how they are constantly. They're friends and care about each other (5up being asked how many people he'd let die for people he cared about and his questioning being about "would the person know" and if they wouldn't know he said pretty seriously he'd be okay letting 1000 people die to save Hafu sticks with me a lot when thinking about their friendship).
Also literally none of them would get banned from an event and then 5 months later still be trying to get back in after being banned and then bitch on twitter when it doesn't work. Like, they can take no for an answer, and listen when told basic boundaries, and that's a very basic ground floor for being competitive rather than toxic.

The show definitely isn't going with the Loustat route. With the way things are going there's no way anyone would want to root for them, and I think that's probably the point.
yeah tbh like, I think part of why this experience has been so discordant for me is that I sat here like a fuckin tool just inhaling every bit of news for a year and it's like, how many times they said it was a romance, how many times RJ said the characters were important to him, how many times they said the changes they made were small things that wouldn't matter, etc. It's hard to consume the show with a blank slate when you've been given that message for a year. Even the trailers strategically used tons of giffable shippy moments that, when they finally showed up on screen, turned out to not be romantic at all LOL.
So I feel like I'd have a different perception of the show maybe if I hadn't known all that. Then again, sometimes when I watch the episode and make the creative decisions make sense, RJ comes on afterwards and ruins it by undoing the grace I was willing to give him LOL.
I could see it being a grand creative challenge to see how much they can make you hate Lestat and still have you root for them in the end but idk. If that's the show some people want to watch, I hope that's fun. LOL. Like, that's kinda how it is in the books? Lestat is awful and misbehaved and selfish and abusive and we root for him anyway. If it ain't broke don't fix it, idk man. The source was already right there.
There's two things I keep coming back to, though:
Jacob & Sam said in an interview at one point (I wanna say it was SDCC weekend but I can't recall) that even when things were hard between the characters they were informed by the idea of the reunion and it helped to be awful to each other. So I worry that everyone on the production is using that as a horizon line to work towards.
It was just continuously promoted as a romance. AND LIKE THIS IS KINDA ??? idk like was it deliberately misleading marketing? Or is it a show full of like, lazy cishet tropes that doesn't realize how toxic it's coming off? (I am still pointing towards the confrontation from Daniel's soulmates comment where it's like HOW IS THAT THE IMPRESSION YOURE GETTING FROM THIS STORY LOL) ((And not to nitpick RJ harder than deserved, but in Ep6's thing afterwards he kinda brushed it off like it was normal relationship bad decision making and not like, horrifically depraved abuse LMAO.))
This is another point that isn't exactly about what we're talking about right now but SINCE I GOTCHA HERE I also wanna say there's been this really obnoxious trend that I'm seeing in some of the newer & casual fans and I even saw in some reviews, and it's the bad habit of writing off all evildoing as ~ThEY'Re VamMPIreS~~ as a blanket excuse to ignore all bad behavior and pretend that every bad thing they do is simply them "being vampires." And a lot of "WHAT DO YOU EXPECT, IT'S A HORROR/VAMPIRE SHOW" and like !!!!!!! I gotta say those are absolutely ice cold takes.
The entire reason this book was groundbreaking was because it humanized the vampires. And a huge core of the books is analyzing good and evil and the meaning of their lives. The entire idea is "I want to be a good person even though I have to kill humans to survive" and each book has that conversation.
"THEY'RE VAMPIRES" completely misses the point, and some of the drama & violence on this show is so heavy-handed that I wonder if the team takes the THEYRE VAMPIRE approach where it's just carte blanche to act like a fucking asshole lol. And just, idk. I'm not sure it's fair to accuse the team of "missing the point" bc I'm sure they're all educated and understand the books, but it's very obvious to me that this was a way to cash in on a bunch of tacky vampire tropes for the money lol.
The entire point of the books, the reason they were groundbreaking, the reason we love them is that the vampires are still so human. They're capable of hurting others and being hurt. Their interpersonal relationships in the face of eternal loneliness are just as full of compassion and emotion as any other relationship. MAYBE EVEN MORESO BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL BIG VAMPIRE-BRAINED AND EXTRA EMOTIONAL. And I think this theme is REALLY strong with Lestat; obviously we spend the most time with his interiority but he struggles with his relationships and wanting to be loved and wanting to be good, even when he fucks up. And those fuckups are more human than they are vampire.
So idk I find the show very tonally imprecise; I worry that the extreme violence they used was perhaps a ~they're vampires~ decision and they're trying to tell us that to vampires maybe it's not such a big deal? (Hate that lol.) But at the same time, it feels really, idk, gross and uncomfortable to leave horror conventions to use such real world domestic violence tableaus to tell a vampire story. If it's supposed to be fantastical vampire drama we could've done with slightly fewer of the too-real bits, idk. MAYBE I'M SENSITIVE HAHA. But yeah it's just.
I'm sure I'd have a different opinion if I came in cold (and I've been trying to watch like YouTube reactions from new fans to see their impression! It's really interesting!) but it's difficult not to come in with expectations between all the marketing and even just having a foundation of the books.

Adn also theres the evil toxic version of them (affectionate). theres not as much to say abt their vampworld versions bc we only had them for like 25 minutes but i do love them,. absolutely incredible. they’re trying to kill each other except they’re actually actively avoiding killing each other because they’re kind of in gay love except one of them did pull th other one’s eye out with her teeth and they presumably died together in mutually assured destruction and it was beautiful. g…. good for them???????? i guess???? you go you weird girls with extremely fucked up lives

but clearly those two are just too madly obsessed with one another to be considering anyone else joining the "whatever the fuck they have going on".
Especially with the focus on Cupitan especially being unable to reproduce what she had with Tristette with her friends being the focus of her summer Fe and this event. She can't even consider people a viable romantic option unless they roleplay as Tristette. you don't want to be part of a throuple where you have to pretend to be one of your partner for the other partner to pay attention to you.
And as for Tristette she seems to be hating everyone ever, and her love for Cupitan is what made her completely heratic to start with, pushing her away and everything. I mean damn, let's consider the fact that because of the way Tristette pushed Cupitan away, they've been having a slow burn for the past ten years or so. Imagine tkaing 10 years to try to convince her you're not going to steal Cupitan away from her, and to also try to convince her you're good to be at her side.
and on top of that you'd have to deal with them repeating that they are fine dying with one another and that they refuse to die alone, like. you join that throuple, you're part of their toxic lover suicide pact.
Like. Listen. They make it work with one another so like, alright. But you don't need to put yourself through it please have a little self love.
so that's why maybe we should let Cupitan and Tristette do their things in their corner. Love that for them though!!

What do you think about Touga and Saionji and do you think Touga ever really cared about Saionji? - Space Anon
HMM well i'm gonna assume when you ask about "touga and saionji" you mean together? because separately i do think theyre interesting and important characters to the narrative, even if i dont like them as people (though saionji is arguably easier to sympathize with especially as he becomes more genre aware).
i personally do NOT like shipping the two as i feel it goes against the entire point of their dynamic in the series, where touga is clearly the one pulling the strings and manipulating saionji. now, do i think they have Feelings for each other, even if i dislike pairing them…? personally i read it as a one-sided relationship but a really fucked up one. saionji very much reads as a repressed gay guy covering up his sexuality with forceful acts of asserting his masculinity, and its supposed to contrast the way touga's "chivalry" seems to come so naturally. i think the way touga toys with utena and briefly has her conform to femininity as a response to him playing prince early on in the series is a good example to compare with saionji; saionji's expression of masculinity is a crude imitation of touga's, and while touga can actively use his to manipulate others, all saionji can do is tout his over anthy, which is essentially futile because its incapable to manipulate anthy (though we as viewers dont know that yet when we first see saionji which makes the irony of it a looot more interesting on a rewatch).
ANYWAYS ANYWAYS. the inherent power imbalance with touga and saionji's relationship has me believe that while saionji has feelings for touga, touga doesn't reciprocate, BUT he is also well aware of said feelings and uses them to his advantage when manipulating saionji. NOW WHETHER TOUGA EVER CARED ABOUT SAIONJI…really interesting question to think about. i think the most concise way to get my thoughts on that across though, is that: i think he did. but the very structure of relationships at ohtori makes it impossible to ever have a genuine friendship that doesn't rely on exploiting the others fears and weaknesses. even with utena and anthy, the only reason they were able to escape the cycle and acknowledge their relationship as genuine was by admitting they had used and hurt the other. i guess, in a way, touga and saionji are the opposite, and thats why i think the framing of the line "whoever believes in true friendship is a fool" WITH touga and saionji is so important.
theyre a horribly messy, toxic excuse for a friendship but thats kind of the point. they bring out the worst of how ohtori dooms any friendships and genuine relationships you can form within its walls. i think thats what makes it interesting to think about even if they both suck. yeah <3

far left is an old oc some ppl may recognize, her name is hope loomis! Shes a (lvl 70) witchdoctor, blind, and captain of a pirate crew. shes no longer my main oc but i still love her and her crew :P
Since hes relevant to her ill go out of order and say him now: the one in the middle is lawrence nightingale, part of hope's crew, her best friend, a musketeer. (Hes my main pirate for playing, hes lvl 70) He has a bit of a sour disposition and he and hope argue a lot but they care for each other a lot. I also ship him with kane hehehe
Ok middle left is catalina, like i mentioned earlier. Actually ive posted him before, hes a catalan shapeshifter who likes to pretend to be a human amongst people to troll them mostly teehee :P hes a (lvl 46) witchdoctor in game but in his lore he just knows some magic.
Next to catalina is the aforementioned Mina mitchell, shes a (lvl 65) swashbuckler and an emo girl. I dont have much lore for her to be honest but shes just so cute and awesome. She has spiky short twin pigtails. I think ive posted a drawing of her on this blog before under her tag mina
Middle right (orange) is Maeve, shes part of my new main crew! (The other 2 arent in game) shes a (lvl 7, bc i KEEP REMAKING MY BUCKS) buccaneer. Shes also part fox and from marleybone! shes really cool and awesome and sweet and shes best friends with shannon (leader of her crew).
Right is Stormy Edwards, hes kinda new and also his character looks nothing like his actual design lol other than that hes green. Hes a privateer (lvl 7, again i keep remaking themmmm) and hes EVIL!<3 he also has a toxic gay thing going on with vito (witchdoctor with maeve and shannon) and hes just kinda fucked up :P
34: what are the hardest and easiest parts of the game for you?
OK SOOOOO I love the strategy of it all TBH. It was really hard at first but ive picked it up pretty well i think. The hardest part was figuring out how to do gear correctly and what stats to prioritize, which im probably still not perfect at but i think ive gotten it down now. I also hate ship fighting 😭 But yeah easiest is probably just combat i love it i love the battle system. And to be MORE specific ranged combat is easiest for me.

hot take, but dsmp lore was much more interactive and had more potential when the ccs were allowed to just fuck around and mess with each other.
i think that because of how every cc are afraid of getting cancelled just cz they messed around with characters/or the present lore is the reason why dsmp lore is dying right now
its like every little thing they do, its always being scrutinized and controlled by fans/chat. its annoying because at this point, they cant do what they want and have fun cz they keep being judged by the viewers.
especially the lore fanatics- and i mean the ones that get angryand toxic over a building blowing up, or certain mobs getting killed in chaotic, non lore ways
like, dont you know that lore was created just cz some ccs just wanted to fuck around? and honestly, its the biggest reason on how other content creators could join in on fun lore: through messy, chaotic, random bullshit
like case and point: when people were bitching over michael the pig; yeah sapnap and george were messing around but did you know because of that so many other ccs got involved in that spontanious lore??
you had Sam, Hannah, Eret, Niki, and so much more who had joined in!
and look at Eret, they used the lore oportunity to further her characters lore! if gnf and sapnap havent messed around, then Eret wouldnt have taken michael to safety and had a big impact on them saving michael thing with Tubbo, Techno and Sam!
and it was literally just from gnf and sapnap messing around and having fun! and ccs were able to make lore out of it!
but then, people still got pissed at gnf and sapnap and even threatened to force them out of the dsmp; like they arent the founding fathers of the damn server?? the fuck??
im so annoyed cz yeah loreheads r cool and fun, and i was one of them before too; but if you get obsessive and some of you are projecting too much on the story and actually trying to control it, its getting really annoying and frustrating to even see things happen in the dsmp
why do you think ccs are so relunctant to do lore now? or even go on? yeah, maybe they have other plans but maybe cz in the past, the og(older) ccs just get blasted with scrutinization and keep getting judged and cancelled fr their actions whenever theyre on or just messing around
look at the dteam, they literally made the server and they cant even do anything in it cz everyone/chat is just being douchebags 24/7 when they on it (especially when they damage or kill certain mobs or buildings on the server, even though its literallt pixels and can be replaced/rebuilt)
and another thing was the blatant pick and choose attitude of some lore people do, like that one time people called Ponks lore 'fake/not canon lore' when they literally stated it was legit.
or how many times other creators have been very into lore and did their own thing bt people deemed it 'not good enough' for the story just cz its less professional than other ccs or that its more random
and i cant state enough how Bads egg lore was one of the best, most creepiest lore that helped a lot of ccs join in and mess around, and instead on twitter people shat on it saying it wasnt 'canon' or wasnt 'good enough' cz it felt rushed (it wasnt rushed, some of you just didint give Bad and his friends lore a chance or even tried to understand it) and now Bad doesnt even really feel like finishing it now
and another thing is how some of these ccs who have been morally grey in their characters and have done things in lore that some people dont like, suddenly they get harrased in twitter and in their irl lives, people are acting as if their character is them but newsflash, they are literally acting!
like when the ccs Quackity and Schlatt, Eret, Dream and Sam as well in their own lore. do you know just how many people went to their dms to harrass them and send hate and negativity over something their character did in minecraft?
not in game; but in their in real life interactions on twitter and social media were blasted with harrasment and hate over a fictional character that they made up. over a roleplay.
they are literally just actors in the dsmp, it is not them. and yet some of you have not seen the line that seperates fake to reality and have deemed them as bad as their characters??? what kind of bullshit is that.
some of the experiences they had were horrible, messages like doxxing, hate and kys were literally sent to them just because of a block game. what the fuck. like how can some of you not differentiate the content creators over their characters?
and some of you are also forcing this idea of 'the lore should be better made or fixed' when these ccs were literally doing it fr fun, they had no degree on acting, they arent english majors, not all of them have experience in making detailed and well-rounded storyies, they arent a tv shows with a steady plot. they are literally just friends messing around on a server. cut them some slack. not everything has to be so planned/well made.
so obviously some people do want to do lore, and have, or had the drive before, but because every little thing they do, like just having fun or messing around the smp, or doing their own thing (which was the whole purpose of it btw, just fr friends to hangout) and when they interact with the 'precious builds/characters/mobs' of the server, they get shat on and cancelled on twitter like theyre fucking monsters
its a block game for fucks sake, and some of you are acting like they killed people in real life. its ridiculous and unhealthy.
and now some of you ask why the older ccs dont play on the server anymore
maybe ask yourself again that after rewatching the bullshit, negativity and hate some of these ccs have encountered just from twitter or obsessive lore heads when some of you would deem them 'horrible people or villains' just cz they messed with pixels on the smp and then try to cancel them over a block game
theyve lost their drive because of all the pressure some of you put unto the lore, making it not fun for them anymore.
idk. at this point i personally may have been so into it, but now i just dont give a fuck about the dsmp lore anymore. i care about the ccs and if they are having fun in what they do, and if they dont, then i dont care about it.

—the aburame family is very tight knit, very supportive, and generally very good at reading each others moods and intentions. they're not a very talkative family but they all pay a lot of attention to each other, and most things are left unsaid or in implications. growing up in this environment, shino's an incredibly indirect kind of person. as he's gotten older he's gotten more and more blunt, because the effort of going to indirect effforts to commuunicate with people who do not seem to know how to pick up his signals, is fucking exhausting. he just says shit now.

—ah...i don't know if i have any unpopular opinions about him. i think a friendship between him and kankuro would be hilarious. is that unpopular? both of them are relatively lonely and quiet, but also okay being alone. i feel like they would each think theyre doing the other person a favor by hanging out with a known freak like them.
kankuro might especially be like "this guys scary and his bugs are awful but you know what they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer!" and so he starts hanging around shino to get info on the bugs and how to deal with them. and he pretends to be interested in shino and his bugs and makes overt gestures of friendship, and shino, who is often forgotten, is flattered by the intention. and is like "well. i suppose i should introduce you to my family. and also to my team"
and kiba is like "fuck yeah lmfao this dude is sooo easy to trick" but as shino and him talk more hes like "wuh oh this dudes lonliness is a harsh mirror to my own! girl help, i'm empathizing with the bug guy!!!!"

lmao i just... think that they r soulmates.... not even in a romantic way (but YES in a romantic way bc im gay and love lesbians) but just seriously dude i feel like their connection is so unique and it makes me start having feelings when i think of how attached some of the characters are to each other in this game but like,, they maybe never wouldve rlly met or become close under any other circumstances rather than this one yknow ?? so in a way the beautiful relationships that came from this situation were such a blessing BUT ALSO FUCKIN HEARTBREAKING BC THEYRE ALL GONNA DIE YOU FEEL
so ,,, first im gonna talk about why its so epic that sakura was able to find this friendship right... shes this big scary buff woman and i remember her saying that its been hard for her to find friends in the past bc everyone fears her and her main goal has been fighting and getting stronger her whole life which has been especially hard since shes a woman and feels like she has to prove herself to men (this is also similar to how taka bent over backwards with his studies but in doing so sacrificed friends and social life). im assuming most of her close relationships have been born from rivalries and fights n shit or any relationship she has at home, even with her family and bf, revolves around her wanting to become better than these people by defeating them,,, i think thats also how she shows affection to ppl now sometimes by fighting them. bUT,, then she meets hina who is super bubbly and friendly and ditzy who immediately trusts her right away and asks her to stay with her during the night or smthn like that and sakura is like “homie... shes not scared of me at all... and she gets what its like to be competitive... and to yknow keep working hard every day of ur life to keep getting stronger...” and i think that was a super important moment here bc they seem so different but hina was so open and willing to start a bond with sakura that she prolly hadnt experienced before and so therefore sakura is like HOLY SHIT I GOTTA PROTECT THIS WOMAN WITH MY LIFE but like,, not in a way that she thinks hina is weak,,, but in a way that shows she respects the hell out of her and will always stand by her side to fight with her.
OKAY AND NOW FOR HINA OKAY. it pisses me off that everyone always picks on hina for being so driven to work out and all that bc like,, while yeah i could NEVER live like her bc sports arent my cup of tea (lmao clearly since i spend all my time watching anime and playing this game) and the thought of waking up before 10:00 on my free days makes me wanna cry,,, HINA IS SO FUCKING DEDICATED TO WHAT SHE DOES AND SHE SPENDS ALL HER ENERGY ON WHAT SHE LOVES AND WHAT MAKES HER FEEL GOOD AND SHES DAMN GOOD AT IT !! in conclusion: sakura and hina are fucking soulmates and i rlly like to think they wouldve met in a non-despair world bc i think having each other as partners/being by each others sides is such an amazing thing for both of them since they see each other for who they really are and they can both fully understand what it means to be so passionate and driven for the things they love.

out of all my atla ships i think these two have the most to overcome in order to be together. Zuko, who although only did these things because he was a misguided and abused kid who didnt know anything other than than the propoganda he was taught, was an imperialist and literally burned down at least one village. he upheld fire nation views all throughout book one and his actions did a lot of harm to the world. so out of all the issues jetko has working against him, fixing his past actions and unlearning propoganda is def at the top of the list. the fire nation hurt jet big time, and thats a HUGE obstacle for them to over come. Jet on the other hand has to work on channelling his outrage towards the fire nation and dealing with his own trauma in a way that doesnt involve... ‘harming’ civillians for lack of a better word. he was traumatized and was forced to be an adult and look after a boatload of children way too young. he didnt know any better so its understandable why he did what he did. theyre both teenagers. they are both children. neither of them really knew any better and they both need to learn and overcome these obstacles. and it kind of seems impossible to some people because many people believe that jet was hurt too much by the fire nation to ever forgive zuko and (my least favorite take) jet is racist towards fire nation citizens (FUCK OFF. LITERALLY FUCK OFF ppl who call jet racist piss me off so much. he was oppressed by the fire nation and fought for justice against them. the fire nation were literally oppressing p much everyone in the entire world. racist jet is the DUMBEST take right alongside homophobic katara. i will tolerate none of this jet slander in my blog. i love him alright?)

RIGHT. ppl who dont like jetko sometimes think that these afformentioned issue would hold them bsck from ever being a good couple and to that i say: haha no.
these two are two of the most stubborn characters in atla. they are the most determined characters and most proactive when it comes to getting what they want. they never give up. and when it comes to eachother? if they wanna be with each other than goddammit they will make it work. i hc them as having a rocky start. maybe being on again off again for a lil bit while theyre still growing and sorting themselves out and finding themselves as people. and yeah zuko being fire nation and jet being hurt by the fire nation is gonna be an issue, but i truly believe that they can overcome it solely based on how passionate and determined they both as as characters.
theyre very similar in the sense that they seek justice and fairness in the world. theyve both been traumatized by the fire nation (granted in very very very different ways) but i think they can grow and heal together.
and i think they can also just be themselves with one another too. when they first met jet bonded with zuko immediately because he could tell he was an outcast and they worked together so fucking well they knew what each other was thinking. they see eachother. and they understand each other.
i think they have such good potential and when written in a well thought out way they are one of the most amazing dynamics.
however. one of the WORST THINGS about the way jetko is written sometimes is the toxic ex jet trope (hello zukka nation i am talking primarily to you because this is where i see it the most because zukka is my top ship but lordy lordy do it got some issues. i love zukka but omg is toxic ex jet a problem here)
jet is not fucking abusive. lets get that straight. just because he fought zuko in ba sing se for (CORRECTLY) assuming he was a firebender (yeah he probs shouldnt have attacked him with swords in a public setting but also: he was traumatized and lied to and hes an impulsive teenage boy. that doesnt excuse the fact that yes jet also did some shitty things but like,,, it explains it. remember kids its good to critique your fav characters and you dont have to agree with me with anything i say this is all just my opinion) jet is not abusive, and using him to write toxic jetko fics or toxic past jetko is not only incredibly insulting to jet and the ship as a whole, but it often is used to reduce zuko to a little uwu-protect-me-im-soft-and-weak-and-cant-fight-for-myself boy. zuko is not that. not at all. ive said it once and i will say it again: the infantilization of zuko as an asian man is a racist take and we need to address it.
if you wanna make jet and zuko have a messy breakup for your fic GO FOR IT. i have no issue with that. but if the only way you can create the messy break up is by making jet an abusive asshole (sometimes even a rapist which WHAT THE FUCK??? why. just. why. what about jet would make you think ‘oh this guys a rapist’ literally goodbye. ppl r weird for that) than maybe you shouldnt be writing past jetko.

i believe that while they would probs have issues as teenagers, i think once they were older and reconnected and like, fully know who they are. they would be GREAT. their communication as seen on the boat was top tier and this would translate so fuckin well into a relationship.

ok considering my icon i know this is sacreligious. but if i knew what kinning was i would have put dipper on my kinlist in 2012/2013. hes just so. hes so. hes just. i find the way gravity falls writes adolescence pretty fascinating - it's deeply flawed in some ways and yet somehow still gets right at the pulse of what makes being a preteen /teenager so hard. i think dipper and mabel's writing exemplifies this the best, and i despite being Mabel Biased, dipper's sheer determination and sweaty nerdisms make him fun to imagine in miscellaneous scenarios. he's great. besides, mabel fits in another category much better...

MABEL PINES. i FUCKING love mabel pines, you people know this, shes my icon and shes right there smiling at you. she's unashamedly herself and she's very loudly weird and creative and CUTE. her sense of identity is very strong, but she's so sure of herself in so many situations that sometimes she can make some serious missteps. the important thing is that she learns from those missteps and grows. she just has a very specific worldview and i love her for it. me and my mom still say "I SUCCESSFULLY BEZAZZLED MY FACE. BLINK" at each other. shes just a ball of delight and contradictions and, under it all, a fear of growing up and becoming someone else, someone boring, perhaps even someone estranged from her family. i love her and her creativity and sweaters and general cuteness.

so first-off i know i already have one WIP AU (Auckland) on ao3 so i wont talk about That one cause like. spoilers. i actualyl have it like 80% created so its likely gonna truly get finished for once and i dont wanna ruin shit
the other one ive posted about is something me and ben (catgirlrepublic) have worked on together its not at all close to done or anything but it's. a fun little crossover. Between jdate and my fuckinuhm. Original characters story “Untitled Villains Project”. the sketches of the comic version ive started is actually my pinned post 👉👈 its like the first chunk of the story, i think half of part 1? yea.
Tldr john fucking Somehow is able t oget into contact with a certain curious scientist from another reality who’d just love to study the Soy Sauce, most certainly not for her own nefarious purposes
John and Dave meet up with the scientist, her name is Boss, and her lab assistant, Toxic, and after a bit of a preliminary Vibe Check where john determines her trustworthy (which Dave doesnt agree with,) the two agree to be taken to the world UVP is set in. from there they stay in Boss’s lab (big old fucking abandoned military lab). John and Toxic are fast friends due to mutual love-of-chaos. John n Dave get to fuckin, camp out on an air mattress.
The day after they arrive, the two get split up, not exactly intentionally; big plot points of UVP are liek. Fueled by Boss sending Toxic to go fetch her “research materials,” which are usually important artifacts
Fuckin side note i guess i have to explain my dumb bullshit: Boss’s, uh, field of expertise so to speak is actually fckin, basically the scientific study of magic and superpowers n shit like that. This shit’s all real in that world. Toxic’s got fuckin superpowers, so do 4 other main characters, whatever. It’s got a bit to do with spirituality, iss Boss’s hypothesis. So she has Toxic fetch important artifacts that might have “energies” to them. The thing is actually way more fuckin complictated than that, this is just Boss’s initial hypothesis.
Motherfucking anyways. So Boss gives Toxic a job to do, and John get excited about how Cool that sounds, and ends up going with Toxic, leaving Boss and Dave alone. Neither is thrilled about this. But Dave and Boss get to have a bit of conversation (while Toxic and John are off bonding and having a good time) and come to a… mutual grudging understanding of some kind. They still dont like each other though lmao
Theres gonna be deeper shit going on but we havent sorted it out yet/tbh havent like Written For It in a while but i still like thinking about it a lot lol
Also pretty sure our endgame is john and dave steal toxic and bring them back with em lmao boss is kind of not nice and toxic would most certainly be better off in Undisclosed. Actually theyd fucking love it. Theyd become a local cryptid im sure. Undisclosed’s mothman is a teleporting spike baby.

I promise this is just because i think blue and dave should get to team up to beat up some monsters
Quick briefing on my fuckinuh. Original character story, this one doesnt have a name (yet? Idk lol my work never actually goes anywhere sso who gives a shit). It centers around two grim reapers, Red (26, bi woman) and Blue (22, aroace agender asshole). In this reality or whatever, grim reapers function kind of like low-level office workers. They get told who’s going to die + when by some middle-management types, and upper management only involve themselves when punishment needs to be doled out. These Higher-Ups can be seen as analogous to Korrok; they’re decidedly not human, never were, and fucking terrifyingly powerful. Additionally, grim reapers are sort of .. designed to be “background noise” people. In reality theyre supernatural beings and, uh, look Real Fuckin Weird (the whole deal has a neon aesthetic im terrible at drawing uwu) but most humans just perceive them like extras in a movie. A body’s there but the camera’s not focused on it.
To the narrative: the shit starts when Red n Blue get relocated to Undisclosed. Relocation is something that just happens every now and then to reapers; they usually work in teams, but they get split up into different cities to avoid any strong bonds forming (a counter-union strategy from the Higher-Ups).
Red, Blue, John and Dave end up running into each other for the first time in a McDonalds where John n Dave are getting some 4am “hey, we just survived another horrific monster fight” celebration burgers. John and Dave are the only two people who can see how… strange Red and Blue are. Nobody else notices.
John unintentionally pisses Blue off, leading to Blue whacking him upside the head with a dildo bat. They all four get kicked out of McDonald’s. Dave and Red both are less than thrilled
Blue and John end up resolving their differences, somehow. Red and Dave briefly bond over their dumbass best friends being, well, dumbasses. They all part ways amicably.
somehow-or-other (idk yet) they end up running into each other a few more times, and eventually john invites them over to his place, and the four (plus Amy now!) get to know each other a little better
while there, Blue gets a text about some guy who's gonna die and John offers to drive them to where that's gonna go down. they take him up on the offer and get to have a bit of one-on-one conversation
after that ordeal though Blue has had Enough of people and bails, leaving John to head home alone
theres a sort of mirror-development going on with the five of em. Red, John, and Amy would all like everyone to get along, though theyre a bit tentative about it (John moreso than the other two, actually, jsut cause. well Red n Blue could still be Sauce Monsters). Ive actually workshopped this one both with ben (catgirlrepublic) and ghost (ghost-wannabe) lmao its a fun lil concept ive had from the get-go cause i mean. What’s an internet tran gonna do other than hit all their favourite media with the Everyone’s Trans beam
Dave transitioned post-high school and faked his death for it. People go missing in Undisclosed all the damned time, after all. He moved to the next city over, transitioned fully, then came back as a completely new man. Yes i know this doesnt exactly fit with the “everyone knows David from high school” thing alright, hush.
Anytime anyone brings up John’s old best friend (pre-transition Dave) John throws an entire fit like an overdramatic grieving widow. Full-on sobbing “why would you bring her up?! I miss her so much—” to the point that people just stop bringing up because Jesus Christ That Sure Is Uncomfortable KJHGFDS.
This is a scheme he and Dave came up with prior to Dave leaving, though Dave hadnt exactly anticipated John putting on this much of a performance about it— but it’s stopped Dave from ever having tto hear his deadname again, so hey.
Amy transitioned sometime in middle school/early high school. Her family was super supportive and loved her a ton and most people just know her as Amy. she was super shy her whole life really so. Yeah. people just dont think to bring it up lmao also i Feel Like big jim would absolutely wallop anyone who gave her trouble of any kind
John’s nonbinary (genderfluid specifically) and not exactly Interested in transitioning ? like hes fine with how he is. mostly.
he came out to Dave in high school but hes not out to anyone else exactly. Maybe his bandmates. Probably any other trans person in Undisclosed knows, too, cause theyre safe to tell lmao. Johns mostly a “he/him out of convenience” kinda nb who’s cool with any pronouns but does prefer they/them most. Dave and Amy use they/them when the trio are alone
Also this is a totally self-indulgent caveat that i think would be great, Dave’s actually agender but because he's transmasc and transitioned when he thought there were really only two options, and being Boy at least felt less weird than being Girl, he just kind of assumed he was a dude. It’s only through a lot of (like fucking years and years hes probably in his 30s/40s when he puts 2 and 2 together on this one) talks about gender with John that he realizes he actually feels like No Gender. Masc aesthetic with none gender.

Also Amy came out to Dave about being trans early on in them seeing each other and his response was to get very nervous before blurting out “me too” and then just being too embarrassed to talk about it for the rest of the day. Hes got a lot of hangups on talking about it actually it takes years for him to get comfortable in that
by contrast when Amy comes out to John about it his response is to yell “EYYY ME TOO” and give her a big ol hug lmao

Johns an absolute troublemaker, Of Course. Hes wanted in several towns for absolutely stupid shit. Hes a loner who shows up, causes chaos, gets drunk, does some drugs, runs away if people get too mad at him
He definitely had the same kind of deal with the soy sauce as in canon— he was at some kind of party, somebody offered it, he took it cause why the fuck wouldnt he, now he can see monsters and shit
Hes kind of a mooch also. Like. dont let him stay in your barn man he’ll never fucking leave and drink all your booze.
He runs into Dave when they happen to just, cross paths in the same town. the bullshit John stirs up ends up involving Dave in a way that makes it seem like it's his fault too, and they both get run out of town
after that he just tags along after Dave. hes decided this guy's Cool he wants to stick around. Dave is pissed at first, but not enough to shoot him or anything, and eventually, John grows on him
Dave
Dave also is a loner but unlike John hes simply so fucking awkward and bad with people. He doesnt feel like he belongs anywhere so he just travels
He’s the stereotypical Lone Ranger tbh. He wanders from town to town, solving their problems, though hed deny its out of any moral obligation (it kinda is, a little bit, tbh. He does like feeling useful). He shows up, fixes things, leaves. He's kind of a legend but most people think he's hiding something dark. other people jsut know him as that guy who farted real loud in the middle of the saloon and promptly skipped town out of sheer embarrassment. you know how it goes with Dave
He ends up involved with the Soy Sauce when a snake (not Actually a snake,) bites him. The snake’s more like the wig-monsters, really. Anyway, it injects him with the soy sauce, he fucking trips balls in the middle of the desert, he can see monsters now
He runs into John and shit goes tits-up, as said, but they become traveling buddies after that. he'd never say so, but he's glad for the company, actually. it's nice. hes not used to companionship but he feels a strange kind of easiness hanging out with John....
not sure how the Monster Dave concept will like fit in to this reality but like. trust me i want it in here. I'll Figure It Out.
Amy
Amy’s been living in a town John and Dave end up passing through and she is very curious about these two new Handsome Strangers who claim to fight monsters and just kinda. Persistently tags along til they let her join for real
Her family’s all dead, unfortunately, just like in canon, and she’s been living alone for a few years before meeting John n Dave. she had nothing left in that town to stay for, she'd been fantasizing about escaping on wild adventures for a long time and this felt a little like a dream come true. (Dave still gives her a spiel about how Difficult it is, but really, her fantasies were pretty grounded-in-reality already. i jsut think thats how she is, yknow?)
Shes the first person to react to the whole “we see monsters” shit with a kind of “oh, okay. neat” kind of response lmao
John and Dave fix whatever the fuck is up with her town (maybe that’s where the Korrok shit can fit, who knows) and Amy ends up being integral to that. After, she insists they take her with them because “they need her now” and Dave just cant really say no. John too is very much "the more the merrier!" and hes actually glad to have another person along he loves people lmao
At the start she has long hair but after she joins them she chops it short with a knife for convenience
also she still is an amputee. justt. idk. it was a wagon/stagecoach accident rather than a car accident lmao. just to clarify since i hadnt mentioned it, i wouldnt rob her of her ghost hand or yknow. all of the significance to her character that Missing A Hand has. although also now im going to have to research what was used as painkillers way-back-when, but im betting shes still got, like, her pain pills, they probably had those, maybe i wouldnt have to try too hard there. old timey medicine could be WACK though,

He keeps his face covered 24/7. actually he covers a Majority of his self for reasons. kinda want him to be a slightly more horrifying Worm Entity rather than human idk,

so i watched cobra kai all in two days and i have so many -
this show has so many cool and smart angles to it, but the same time.... its so stupid oh my god everyone is so dumb literally mr miyagi held all of the braincells in this whole universe
like i am but at the same time i am not surprised it was made like this, bc in hindsight of course there were hordes of ppl simping over johnny lawrence .... but it still amuses me that this is like... an Actual Official Thing

how much fun this cast has is super visible and i love it
i rly enjoy how the world was expanded ! i did grow up watching the karate kid movies, so watching how they progressed the world of the movies so organically was pretty cool. it rly feels like its the same universe
i fucking LOVE stories that are largely about a Thing. dancing ,skating, sports its just so thrilling to experience this all consuming relationship people can have with this type of activity? and martial arts are just that much more intense, so yeah, grown ass men kicking each other around at the lightest provocation and a war veteran caring so much abt teen karate is Ridiculous.... but i love it all because thats the intensity i find so thrilling
was kinda surprised with how much im missing mr. miyagi. first because, like everyone is so unhinged jesus christo, it just really throws into relief how much his character grounded the narrative of the movies. but also hes just a really great character
and on that note it rly Gets Me that the show itself aknowledges that and plays that into daniels angst and all the little ways they sorta weave myiagisms into the whole show........ im not getting emotional over this dumb karate dads show OK

they really went down the down and out johnny lawrence route huh. like i was always kinda bummed we see kreese choking him and then we never see him again in the movies, and while i love dumpster fire problematic trash himbo ck johnny, its like......................... actually really sad that his life turned out like this fjngn
everytime i hear ‘babes’ and ‘pussy’ i die a little inside. i know thats the point but i am a v cringe easy person, have mercy (ehe)
loved the way they are constantly drawing parallels between johnny and mr. myiagi of all people. hes the handy man of his building that has a bullied kid asking for help and eventually steps up to teach them karate, beats up a bunch of bullies for him, creates a friendship with said kid, estranged from family, drinks his sorrows away, surprisingly one of the least quick to anger characters (which says more about everyone else really but.... Well.), no schemes or ulterior motives hes just tryna vibe here.... oh and ofc magically heals miguel of is asthma apparently. the true disciple.. meanwhile daniel is his usual messy petty self even tho he wants to be mr myiagi so bad
also interesting about that is how miguels character is a parallel of both johnny and daniel at the same time
overall the parallels in ck are done really well, drawing comparisons and also subverting them constantly. theyre well thought out
THE PARALELOGRAMS
fr tho, the angle being explicitly the cycle of trauma and its effects and how trumatized adults in turn traumatize kids, maliciously or not, is so interesting
but! on the flip side of that, it feels like the writers are getting in their own way @ letting the characters grow. especially this last season. theres only so many times you can do "johnny and daniel are getting along but 5mins later they are (literally) fighting over some dumbass random issue" or "johnny puts in 20% of effort with robby and then gives up" before it gets on your nerves yknow?
i see daniel no longer talks like macchio ingested 15 shots of espresso before every take and idk how to feel about that tbh
interesting tension in daniel, as in, in tkk mr miyagi was there and daniel was frankly, kind of a lil shit, this messy petty spitfire hot tempered sassy kid,(johnny lawrence voice: just... stop being so annoying) but now hes the adult, and he wants to be mr. miyagi... but hes just not, and never will be to his very core and it shakes him and in a way hes trying to find who he is now that he sees himself in a position to be a not! cobra kai figure. i kinda really like that
plus how that relates to his cobra kai trauma. idk if the writers thought abt it Like That, i think so, but in any case, its interesting bc it seems like daniel has told everyone whod listen about johnny lawrence his Pretty Boy Karate Rival and high school and 84 cobra kai... But. no one seems to know what went on in 85 (or 86? idk) which was just so much worse
like ye og cobras were shitheads, but tkk iii is just two hours of daniel being emotionally and physically tortured.
like, the third movie is.............chaotic, to put it nicely, and many people ignore it, but the writers clearly didnt. daniels actions are, in a way, responding so much more to the events of tkk iii than to the first movie ie. johnny himself, AND. daniel doesnt rly seem to have dealt with that trauma? he never told sam? doesnt feel like hes ever told amanda? he doesnt even say terrys name out loud? freaks Out over kreese ? the way he reacts to robbys deceit? his FACE when he walks past the new "fear does not exist in this dojo" paint or kreeses photo? hmMm i sense Pain
his fashion tho........... disappointing. where are the flower shirts daniel huh we had one (1) shirt what a tragedy STOP WEARING SUITS ALL THE TIME . also the band ts/grunge bi are a look for johnny but part of me longs for the preppy lovable 80s bully chic johnny lawrence getups
weird that they never used that last moment of karate kid where johnny kinda... snaps out of his anger and hands daniel the trophy almost in tears. like “youre alright larusso, good match” “thanks a lot” that being their last direct interection seems like itd be perfect fruit for cobra kai but... they just dont. weird.
especially when, the FIRST SCENE they see each other, suposedly in 30+ years, the first thing to come out of daniels mouth is QUOTE "u still got those golden locks huh?" WHO SAYS SHIT LIKE THAT DANIEL FUCKING SAN
also amandas immediate reaction "your pretty boy rival?" like. can we talk about the fact that daniel had to have imparted to his wife the very important information that his high school bully/karate rival was like Really Cute and Fucking Hot Actually
the writers Knew exactly what they were doing and honestly.............. power to them

also I was thinking that daniel sounded strangely fond in that first scene, and i wonder if he developed a weird affection for johnny on the grounds that of all of his Karate Rivals johnny was actually the only one who didn’t actively tried to literally kill him
i was actually delightedly surprised with how great the chemistry between them is, like from the get go i am Invested. their rl friendship totally bleeds through and its fantastic

johnny lawrence: i am down in the dumps, i fucked up my whole life and my sons probably, largely in light of the trauma that the father figure sensei and the philosophy of my karate inflicted on me and all my friends. u know what i should do, as a traumatized, unreliable mess of an adult? teach that same philosophy to some other kids! what could go wrong!
but really i enjoy the setup of it. i kinda like that i watched it late because, season 1 was johnny setting himself up for failure in a way and it was exciting to watch it all go to shit sjfn
Like. his heart might be in the right place, but theres just.... not a way to teach something like ‘strike hard, no mercy’ and not have it fuck up a kid
case and point: aisha, miguel and hawk become annoying as all hell over that bullshit in the end of s1, even before shit gets truly fucked up
billys subtle panicked eyes when he sees hawk and miguel fighting dirty in the all valley was SO GOOD especially in parallel with the panic that is so visible in his face in the movie when kreese tells bobby to injure daniel and in the sweep the leg scene
seen people question wether kreese should have returned and i absolutely think he needed to. johnny needed to realize that cobra kais fundamentals are flawed, at the root, beyond kreese himself being a toxic piece of shit
also who are we kidding? we are here to see the tkk characters play on new playgrounds!
i get what they're doing abt kreeses backstory, ( also. cobra kai. pq eles caem nas cobras djjs sorry) but did it need to take up that much time? feels like they couldve done it in half the run time and developed some other stories better

aisha was cool and im kinda mad she wasnt in s3, especially bc a storyline with her tory and sam was like RIGHT THERE , but also... cant say i was super super fond of her... doesnt feel like we ever spent enough time on her

the tory/sam miguel/robby Thing. enjoy how theyre Narrative Foils and i like how their stories were so dramatically entangled but oh god give me a break with the teenage love square for the love of god. if u gonna put us through that at least have the decency to not make it so straight
and honestly some sam/tory miguel/robby romantic tension would even make more sense. just saying!
also im not sure how i feel abt the cobra kai: red miyagi do: blue theyre going with since some of daniels most iconic looks in tkk are also red. like it was a color they (johnny and him) sorta shared. i get it, opposite but complementary but idk... a little too fire nation and water tribe for me .
and like the cobra kai kids are so funny abt it bc their outifts grow progressively more ridiculously coordinated. its like do they group chat every morning before leaving their houses?
robby still sticks out like that tho. he went thru an athleisure/daniel san tsleeves phase and now hes back in the bandts grunge, but his color scheme doesnt fully blend with the other cobra kais. hmmmm.

when kumiko reads mr miyagis letters........ oh my god, my eyes FILLED with tears, it was so heart wrenching :(( tamlyns delivery was so emotional and lovely and its so obvious everyone involved in ck has so much love and respect for pat morita and mr miyagi as character, and i adore that it exists like this electric current through the show
