So I just saw the post with the wrath of the creator on Azar and I had an idea.

I am very emotional and I bailed my eyes out when I did the chasm quest with xiao and he nearly died AND I got a sad cutscene of the adepti after so my traveler was just stuck in the dialog with Xiao while I was crying a whole waterfall and sniffing really loudly and the only other quest where I had that was when we were in the chasm with dain and he tells us that the hillichurls are cursed people from Khanri'ah. I stood in front of the corpses and cried heart out.

So I wanted to ask the characters reactions to that. Especially Xiao, the archons we know (because khanri'ah and its destruction is a big thing here) and dainsleif.

I'm sorry this got so long. If you want to change something or want to add someone or take a character out it's okay, this is just my 5 am thought I just had.

Creator Having A Meltdown During Perilous Quest

(Warning: Might Be OOC & Spoilers to the Perilous Archon Quest!)

Yelan

She wasn't going to lie, she wasn't expecting you to cry your heart out so freely. Raw emotion was hard to come by when people grow. They tend to be more...seclusive, with their emotions.

You, on the other hand, were free-balling it. You did NOT care if people were gonna look at you weird, you are gonna cry because you are sad! And honestly, Yelan's glad that the Almighty Creator is expressive and sentient. It proves just how much you care for the characters.

"It seems the Almighty Creator is far more connected than anyone thought..." She wonders what she can do with this information, but at the same time, keep it under wraps. Letting this information slip into the wrong hands was always dangerous.

She wouldn't gamble your safety. Never. Safe to say Yelan's got you covered.

Itto

Woah, woah! He did not expect you, the Almighty Creator, to be crying their eyes out the moment he wakes up from passing out and all that—what he miss? What happened while he was sleeping?

Wait, they're not in the Chasm anymore? Oh Archons, someone just tell him what happened! Why the heck is the Creator balling his eyes out?

"Huh—? What's going on? We're out of the chasm?" Poor guy is so oblivious, and no one's bothering to fill him in—at least, at the moment.

He'll pester Shinobu about this later. Just, someone, stop the Creator from crying! Those are sad tunes, not something you want to hear when you should be celebrating about leaving that gloomy place!

Yanfei

She was NOT expecting you to be this emotional! Yanfei feels a little guilty not being able to do anything about it, to be honest...

She has to resist the urge to shake Xiao out of his stupor, because a) that was unprofessional, b) she's more relieved than anything, and c) Yanfei wasn't sure if you, the Creator, would think she was okay if she started acting out like that.

So, instead, she tries to ground herself, and do her best to make sure that the situation is fine, and that everything will be okay. That's the least she can do to reassure you, and everyone else, right?

"Hopefully, Their Grace will stop those tears...Hearing them sad makes me feel sad..." As a lawyer, Yanfei knows how to sympathize with her clients. This, however, felt like she could really understand what you were going through—there was a bond between you and everyone.

She doesn't want to make you sad. That's one thing for sure. Yanfei wouldn't be able to sleep out of guilt otherwise.

Shinobu

She wasn't expecting you to be crying your heart out, but she loves how sentient you are. It shows just how you truly care about Xiao, and about everyone.

She really appreciates you. She can see how you connect with every character—how you cheer with everyone, cherish the moment with everyone, rejoice, and mourn. This was visible proof of it all.

"Hm...How should we comfort Their Grace..." Shinobu wants to do something—for the sake of the gang's gratitude for their Almighty Creator. And everyone here as well.

You contributed much of yourself for them. For that, she's grateful.

She'll have to explain to Boss later...but that's besides the point right now.

Xiao

He feels guilty for making you cry. He heard you call out his name several many times. He hears how you ball your eyes out, thinking you were gonna lose him, only for Rex Lapis to save him just in time.

He doesn't know if the Lord of Geo heard your divine prayers, or if he went on his own accord, but he feels guilty. He placed a heavy burden on you. He didn't mean to.

"How should I make it up to Their Grace..." He listens to how you scream and cry (out of joy now) that he was alive. You, the Almighty Creator, already connected yourself to someone like him. Your bond was too severe, and he tried to cut it off.

But the way the Traveler is smiling at them with a reassuring smile, Xiao wonders if he will be forgiven. Perhaps far quicker than he imagined.

Ghost Rebel Side Notes: This honestly feels too OOC—I don't really know Yelan's personality all that well, and honestly I don't think I caught the full potential of Yanfei, Itto, and Shinobu. I do hope you enjoyed this, but I'm also sorry if this came out disappointing.

Perilous Trails, Sacrifice

Warnings: implied character death/temporary death. Traveler sacrifices themself for their companions. Some parts may be suggestive/have smut themes. Angst, hurt to comfort, fluff.

SPOILERS!!! this collaboration contains spoilers from the latest event and archon quest Perilous Trails. If you have not finishes the quest please do so before reading this collaboration or read at your own risk knowing this collaboration contains spoilers. It is easier to understand the story if you have already completed the archon quest in its entirety.

“Stars align, bestow your light,

“Evil purged by thunder’s might,

“Spirit curbed, pneuma surge,

“By dictum divine, heed these words,

“Do as I command!”

The sound of Yelan’s enchantment echoes around the walls of the space everyone is trapped in. Blue light illuminates the cavern as the fantastic compass lights up after being fed a steady stream of energy from Yelan and Xiao.

“Aha, the fantastic compass is an amplifier. Maintain this energy level and we may stand a chance,” Yanfei orders as her eyes dart around, observing the phenomenon caused by the device she was tasked to find.

“I will maintain the energy flow,” Xiao’s voice is smooth and calm as it rings around the space. Yelan gives him a nod and steps back, cutting off her own energy flow into the fantastic compass.

“Undestood.”

“Everyone, stand back,” Xiao commands as he strengthens his energy flow into the device.

In the next moments, a transparent, glowing, blue platform is summoned beneath everyone’s feet and you all begin rocketing upwards.

Paimon clings to your arm as you all ascend thanks to the fantastic compass now lending to your escape. Everything seems to be going well, and you allow yourself to hope that you will be able to escape the domain that had trapped you in the depths of the chasm.

Yet, something is off. It becomes clear to you that one of your companions might be lost on this trip up towards the surface.

So traveler, who will you save?

the future of yantao // 2.7 event spoilers

firstly, i’d like to open this with the fact that i am a yanfei main. beyond any means of meta gaming, i love yanfei as a character, and each time she has any content whatsoever i crawl for it, she was my first friendship lvl 10.

that being said, one thing i’ve said about yanfei and i’ll say again, she was a character made for the sake of making a character. she wasn’t made to be a vital knight of favonius, and god forbid she be recognized as an adeptus, hell, not even a half adeptus!!

so when i found the yantao ship, i predominately was happy for yanfei content, which would probably be seen as a sin in some shipping communities.

awhile ago in a video i heard a ship dynamic described as “one character people love, and a self insert or convenient character pairing to cope.”

this is how i believe yantao often works. i can’t say this for everything, because i have not seen everything, i am not everything, so i can’t speak for everything.

hu tao is a beloved character, hands down. she’s meta loved, 5 star, fun personality, happy to discuss mortality, friends with some beloved characters, and not afraid to throw down with some stubborn ghosts or fatui. it’s only logical that she deserve attention, and what has better attention than shipping?

well, first steps first, we need to find someone who’s preferably gay, from liyue, not already in an infamous relationship, and of age.

we get one option (at that time), yanfei.

it works- both pyro, probably gay, with dark and redish color palettes, and both with relations of rex lapis and the realms of mortality. but it also doesn’t.

they’ve never interacted, the voice lines are one sided, and driven on business, not interpersonally relationships. it’s like a dating app, you could do this couple, it’s a possibility, but there’s nothing saying that they have to work. but it’s already a thing, and it’s already gotten popular, so, might as well conform with the trends and disregard the characters anyways.

that’s where 2.7 comes in. yanfei is suddenly on a spotlight. oh wait, she’s part adeptus? and she’s a competent character, even in disaster? and she’s one of the smartest of a group of beloved and up-incoming characters? that’s crazy!!

even more so, the one night stand energy she and yelan radiate, or the law related wholesome energy that she and shinobou share. suddenly, there’s two very possible and likely love interests, that check all the same boxes that yantao couldn’t fill past fanon.

so the four star, the filler, the afterthought is now getting attention, reaching very lowkey homoerotic and wholesome places with new, never before seen characters. honestly? pretty deserved for her second (?) interaction in game.

though this means that yantao is likely on a decline, as someone who was a self proclaimed yantao shipper, i’m happy. i’m happy that one of my favorite characters of the game is finally getting a spotlight, getting a part to play. it’s not wrong to ship what you ship, honestly, i’d be surprised if she stopped being shipped with hu tao, but that’s what it is. shipping. fun between fans. it doesn’t matter if you like yanfei with hu tao, yelan, shinobu, heck, even eula, that’s your choice of what paring you like.

— aether holds you close, rubbing his cheek against yours in efforts of slowing your anxiety-ridden breaths down — he won't lie, he's pretty anxious for you as well; but he knows he has to keep his composure so as to not freak you out even more — whispers sweet, calming words into your ears and will tell you that everything is going to be okay

[albedo]

— given that he's not an actual human, albedo does a pretty good job of calming you down — brings you your favourite hot drink (with the right amount of milk/sugar that you love) plus a blanket so that you can curl up in his lap while he calms you down :3 — stays by your side the entire time while you cry :")

[arlecchino]

— slightly rough but when she sees you upset it is on SIGHT with the person who made you cry — will go batshit crazy. just for you — gives a very opinionated speech about how she would report this person who made you upset to the department head yadda yadda and it makes you smile

[ayaka]

— definitely freaks out a little bit but remembers what thoma does for her whenever she feels anxious — holds your hand and squeezes it gently to assure you that she's there for you — she listens a lot and doesn't talk. will let you spill out everything while she sits there and rubs the back of your hand

[ayato]

— keeps his composure and is somewhat like a steady rock — will make you your favourite hot drink!! he remembers the little things about you so the right amount of sugar and milk and water etc — brings tissues and a soft cloth to wipe the tears away from your face while he sits there and holds your hand

[beidou]

— she gets a bit more quiet because she hates seeing you upset like this — slightly murderous look in her eyes because she will obliterate the person who made you this upset — holds you in her arms the entire time she tries to calm you down — wipes away your tears with her thumb

[capitano]

— doesn't speak a lot, he's more of a listener — enjoys holding you in his arms :( the quiet comforter is good at that and his presence is generally very calming — also he knows the exact way you like your fav drink — will be out to murder the person who made you sad

[childe]

— hums a soft melody, the same way he used to calm down his siblings when they got upset. also kisses you a lot throughout — (except that you get a lot more cuddles than them. lol) — cooks you your comfort dish while putting it on your favourite plate with your favourite set of cutlery (the fork and spoon with the cute little whales on them)

[diluc]

— asks adelinde to make you a pot of tea <3 — plays a soothing melody on the piano in efforts to calm you down. he makes you straddle him facing away from the piano and lean against his shoulder — presses kisses to your forehead while you spill about everything that made you upset

[dottore]

— bit of an eccentric comforter but thats okay! — he enjoys telling you stories about his past research and it makes you smile a lot (the safer versions, i'm gna pretend he doesn't do anything sketchy just in case ppl @ me) — i honestly can see dottore as a cuddler i'm sorry to those who disagree. this one's for @cxlrosii #1 dottore lover

[eula]

— she's.. not used to comforting you / other people so she's a little awkward — but she tries! she tends to just sit and listen while giving an extremely violent opinion about the other party to make you laugh — it works :) will bring a soft cloth to wipe away your tears as you sit on her lap

[ganyu]

— gets a little panicked but has to calm herself down before she can calm you down — brings tissues and small pieces of candy for you for eat bc she believes that its a better medicine ;) — also brings qingxins for you for some reason. 10/10 comforter tbh

[gorou]

— wraps you in this huge hug with his tail wagging and all!!!! super cute sight — he hates seeing you sad. will cuddle you on the spot even if other people are around — he lets you pet his ears longer than usual bc he knows it makes you happy :(

[heizou]

— i can't get the image of him straddling you while kissing you to make a smile appear on your face — wipes your tears away gently while telling you stories about the arataki gang getting into trouble — he might have thrown itto under the bus.. but oh well. heizou gives good cuddles okay

[itto]

— 10/10 BEST COMFORTER. will beatbox your troubles away — also likes to throw you up into the air for some reason??? like you could be crying on the floor and be up in the air the next — he's very careful though and he's super sweet about it. brings you to eat your favourite food afterward <333 lets you win onikabuto fights

[jean]

— sweet and comforting, just like her sister — you get a little worried bc you can see the stress etched on her face and you're def worried that you're burdening her but she very quickly catches on — you were not and never will be a burden to jean :( she loves you very very much

— comforter SUPREME. 10/10. i want to cry so he will hold me in his arms and tell me that everything is alright — sings your favourite song & also loves to cook you your favourite food while you cry about everything to him. lets you taste test — he does this little nodding thing each time you say something its very cute

— literally the definition of your pillar of strength — she's calm, collected, and analyses the situation pretty well so she can calm you down in the way you need it the most — loves to run her fingers through your hair to help you calm down plus give her a smile (it works)

— she does this little quiet exhale when she sees you being a mess. then tells you "come here, darling" — then gathers you in her arms while you sob everything out of you — makes you your favourite tea + grabs your favourite book so she can read softly to you — also cuddles you very well??? hello???????

— super sweet about everything — assures you that you are not a burden and the only burden is the person who made you upset — she hates seeing you sad like this :( will cuddle you all night to make you happy

— being cheered up by mona usually consists of her swearing out the person who made you sad, as dignified mona can be — also makes you tea (its cheaper than going out to angels share + she believes that her tea is better than anything else. you agree) — lets you play with her experiments bc pretty colours make you happy :3

— lady boss will buy you anything you want. — a new bed? it's coming tomorrow. express delivery. inazuman sweets? you can bet that ningguang placed a hefty sum for a commission and now beidou is rowing as fast as she can. — also you like to hear her just talk about anything bc her voice is so calming <3

Imagine clambering onto Diluc's lap at a dark corner of Angel's Share, noise playing in the background and drunkards swaying to the songs of bards. You've been trading teases and hints all night, more from you than from the redhead, hoping he'd get the hint that you want a little more than what his friendship has to give. His eyes widen a little, looking at yours with uncertainty as his one hand steadies your waist while the other hesitantly pushes you back.

"You're drunk," he mutters as if to warn you but you shake your head no, taking a sip from the wine glass you balanced between your fingers.

"I'm not." You lean closer, wondering if there's even any effort in the hand that's pushing you back.

"That's what all the drunks say."

A smile graces your lips as you slip the wine glass between your faces, tilting it to his lips and – despite his aversion for alcohol – he drinks from your cup, eyes never leaving yours. Droplets of dark red drips from his lips to his chin from your hold of the glass.

"How's the wine, master Diluc?"

"It's. . . grape juice."

"Exactly." You place the wine glass on the table next to you, feeling the way his arms snake around your waist to pull you closer. Who said you needed liquid courage to help you get a love life anyway?

K A E Y A

"So-" He pulls away but you're relentless: lips following his for another kiss. Kaeya indulges you –only for a second– before trying to escape the onslaught of a make out session that's been ongoing for the past 10 minutes or so.

"What does–"

Kiss.

"This make–"

Kiss.

"Us?"

Kiss. This one lasts a little longer. You try to register his words in your dazed mind. What does this make you two? You've been in love with him for so long now, dropping relentless hints to the point that you've dropped the biggest "hint" of all and pulled him into the Favonius library for a quick snog.

You pull away but your eyes settle on his lips, a blush filtering your face. Could you really handle facing his pretty little lavender eye right now? "I don't know, captain. What do you think this makes us?"

He shakily inhales, fingers reaching up to hold your chin, bringing your lips closer to his, "I'm not sure. We might need. . . a few more minutes of this to figure it out."

Z H O N G L I

"Friends don't do things like this," You breathe out against his ear as his lips pepper kisses to the side of your neck. You really didn't need to remind him. He knows all the formalities there is to a friendship, therefore you should know how he knows that this isn't something you do to a friend.

Yet, can you blame him for his actions of worship when you've been suggesting wanting more of him? How could he deny your "I wouldn't mind kissing someone like mister Zhongli" or "The funeral consultant is my ideal type" kind of comments? He's bound to pull his dear friend in by the waist one of these nights.

"Would you like to stop?" He pauses, lips a fraction away from the underside of your ear. He peeks at you from the corner of his eye and you shake your head no.

"Archons, no. Keep going." It's breathy and shaky, and if you paid a little more attention, you'd feel the smirk on his lips and he presses against your skin.

"Hypothetically, if a friend were to kiss you, would you kiss them back?"

He gives you a look mixed between disgust and confusion. What kind of question is that? Sure, he's not familiar with human customs but kissing is done between lovers and not friends, right? His mind filters through the people he somehow considers a "friend". . . There's Ganyu, Traveler, Chongyun, Yelan, Shinobu, Yanfei, Itto–

"No." He answers and you pout.

"Did you consider Itto when I said a friend?"

You giggle at his silence, eyes glancing at his as he stares away.

xiao fanfic idea (based on the 2.7 chasm quest)

REQUESTING FOR ANY BORED GENSHIN WRITERS TO WRITE THIS!!!

hello i dont have any energy to rewrite all my fanfiction ideas for this quest bc i made this long ass post abt it in detail but it didnt save and now i feel so hollow and numb. im going through every stage of grief right now, currently at stage 4, depressed.

all i ask is for xiao chasm content. please. i beg. SOMEONE, LITERALLY ANYONE PLEASE MAKE XIAO FOUND FAMILY CONTENT

and then put him through an indescribable amount of pain and turmoil as he fails to accept his yaksha friends are dead and faces the slow realization he has no family, other than zhongli, left.

please help me relieve some of this pain by reblogging or tagging your favorite writers in the comments and writing down your xiao x reader chasm ideas (also in the comments) for their inspiration ...ill join too once im done crying over all of my work disappearing

for now i'll just share a few of my daydreams at its most basic level and hope to god somewhere in the world a genshin writer will take this idea and bring it to life

(2.7 spoilers utc)

yaksha found family + reader witnessing all of it, being an outsider as another weaker yaksha.

where you, unaware of the suffering and pain that comes with the responsibility of being one of the five yakshas, hope to get an ounce of understanding for them like they do with one another, hoping to be part of what seems like a "family."

yearning to gain even a bit of that familial warmth, you glance over to observe them on the sidelines and smile at the sounds of their contagious laughter directed at xiao's now fully-painted face.

as years pass by, you watch in horror as each yaksha slowly succumbs to the darkness of their karma one by one, never returning to that bright family dynamic they forgot about.

finally, when xiao, the youngest of all of them, the only one remaining, tries to recover from the loss of valiant warriors he considered his siblings, you console him, experiencing a pain similar to his. both of you support one another awaiting the day you can reunite with the rest of the yakshas again.

this can really extend as much as it wants to starting off w wholesome shenanigans and then angst to possible hurt comfort or just you and xiao wailing in pain together. i love a good slow burn so thats my personal request, like each paragraph written above can be extended to a whole post and split up into a whole series, but really its up to whoever wants to take up my challenge to make it however they want.

xiao and reader dynamic:

in this case i feel like xiao bonds with reader where they feel this mutual emptiness but in different kinds of ways.

you feel alone in the world, you feel excluded from the rest of the yakshas, you long for something you don't have and haven't had in a long time, for that bond that effortlessly ties the five yakshas together. despite being surrounded by so many people you constantly feel like not one of them understands.

you want to be with anyone as long as it's someone. but you have no one. there are so many thoughts, feelings and emotions but there's no one to share them with no one who cares enough to listen. you wish for what the yaksha's have, the family they built on their mutual suffering and joys, where they all understand each others pain because they all share the same experiences.

you feel like no matter how kind or nice or strong and heroic you are or can train to be nobody thinks to call or ask anything of you, its this numbing feeling that prods in your chest at the loneliest and quietest of days, it's not like they're outwardly avoiding you, quite the opposite. they tell you to join, but however close you are to them you still feel distant, and when you part for your more meagre duties compared to their wider scale dangerous tasks, the rift between you and the family increases.

you don't feel upset, nor do you feel hurt, if anything you feel acceptance. it's normal. at times you feel gratitude; a warm feeling bubbling inside whenever they come to talk to you. happiness; whenever you see their doting towards one another, their dumb pranks and stupid jokes.

as an outsider, a weaker yaksha, you watch the adepti you've looked up to for so long from a distance and internally relish in the joy of their shared happiness.

whereas xiao is longing for something he's had before but can't do anything to get back, its this feeling of hopelessness and this agonizing need to go back to how things were, how he was before. he's distraught with the frustration and regret of not being able to get back what was lost and never being able to experience anything similar to it again. its sporadic. sudden. when the yaksha's slowly disappear, after years of investing in them from afar you end up feeling this way too, this same hole in your chest, this unshakable itch at the back of your mind that won't go away. the bond that you hoped to join, the joy you've observed for so long and the happiness you secretly chewed off of no longer exists.

now that you and xiao are the last yaksha left, perhaps you can form a new bond over your losses together.

THIS IS JUST FOR INSPO ON HOW TO WRITE THEM BTW!! do it literally however u want i just thought this would be really cool and emotional to write cuz like theres readers loneliness built up over the years and then theres xiaos mourning and that sudden period of grief and then the awkward sort of mutual sadness they feel in the end

family dynamic inspo:

xiao being the temperamental, more self centered youngest and bosacius acting as the more protective self-sacrificing eldest brother. followed by indarius (pyro yaksha) the second oldest almost mom-like, bubbly and loud friend, the walmart zhongli as the mediator, calm middle child and bonanus (hydro yaksha) as the second youngest, possessing a more timid, polite and shy aura.

and when xiao is left alone, he tries to remember all his happiest memories with each of his friends. he longs for them, he longs for the past so much that it hurts. he wants to be his old self, to get rid of this aching loneliness but as each happy memory flashes by, he spirals into a deeper pit of sadness and activates this haunting feeling in his heart that feels like something is missing. recounting the memories of his loved ones, he swears that this will never happen to anyone close to him again. even at the cost of his own life. in the midst of his vulnerability, he unknowingly engrains that very same savior complex his leader, no, his brother bosacius once had.

Announcing my Genshin Impact: Perilous Trails collab!

Myself and @hopelesshawks are doing a genshin fic collab and if any other writers want to join in they are more than welcome to!

So, if you are interested in taking part of the Perilous Trails collab please dm me! I have details about this project if anyone is interested in joining. Basic things to know are listed below.

Overall, the different characters parts are to be written in an X Gender Neutral Traveler! reader format. I would like to be able to have all parts of the collab posted before the quest officially ends in Genshin Impact. In order to write for this series you have to have played or watched a play through of the quest in its entirety so that details can be somewhat consistent.
