i gotta write another fic on this at some point bc i have the vague plotline done but yeah we need to do more with the fact that fukunaga became a comedian
their audience loves their ‘my partner’s a professional volleyball player…’ segments just because how does this person manage to sound so in love and in despair at the same time?
yamamoto lives in constant fear that something he does is going to turn into a skit for an upcoming show (not really fear, though, he gives the green light for all of them. fukunaga gets him to watch their practices bc they value tora’s opinions and also he’s the ultimate hype man)
fukunaga’s fanbase adores his cats, he puts them in jokes and in nearly all his social media posts (which are very rare. it’s cat pictures or one liners posted at 2am. take your pick.)
oh and jokes about their job in the restaurant? this man is exasperated at customers and it shows and it’s hilarious. they’re kinda ‘the guy who just wants to cook but keeps getting bothered’ in a lot of the skits. (oh yeah the social media also has recipes and cooking tips. they’re all pretty good? but occasionally there’s weird food combinations that make people want to unfollow him.)

HQ Pride Headcannons Pt.2! Nekoma Edition!
I cant draw for shit but like designing clothes/outfits so ill do my best to describe them. I also ended up including random hcs and relationships.
Kuroo:
He’s a bi boy
In a surprising contrast to Bokuto he really doesn’t do too much. He’s honestly kinda awkward with the huge crowd of Tokyo pride. He says he just doesnt want to bring too much attention to kenma, but neither of them really want to draw too many eyes.
He wears black joggers but he has a single little ruffle that ombres from pink to purple to blue that wraps around his right leg. (Akaashi customized it for him)
I have this stupid idea that his shirt says ‘It’s a vBIe’ as a weird take on ‘It’s a vibe’ and everyone laughed when they saw it, but Bokuto was like??? What’s funny about this??? Because he totally didnt realize it was spelled wrong.
Kenma:
Aro/ace
He foolishly let yamamoto persuade him into temporarily dying his hair light green.
He’s wearing grey joggers and a black shirt that just says NO. The N is in the colors of the aro pride flag and the O is in the colors of the ace pride flag.
Fukunaga:
Nonbinary and still unsure how to define their sexuality.
Fukunaga just wears lightwash jeans (cuffed of course) and a black shirt that says THEY/THEM on it. I also think they wear a cute rainbow cat hair clip. Yamamoto definitely was the one who bought it for them.
Akane might have done a little makeup for them 👀
Fukunaga has to turn off their hearing aids sometimes because it gets too loud and they get overwhelmed, so in that case Yamamoto and Kenma translate their JSL. The rest of Nekoma knows basic signs, and are working on getting better, but Kenma and Yamamoto are the only ones who are almost completely fluent for them.
Slightly off topic but kenma and fukunaga as queerplatonic partners is peak content
Yamamoto:
Realized he liked Fukunaga two months ago because Kenma got tired of waiting for him to figure it out. They are now happily together, but Yamamoto is trying to decide if he identifies more as bi or pan.
That being said he has never half-assed anything before in his life and temporarily dyed his mohawk rainbow. He’s honestly such a softy so his shirt says Love is Love.
It is less of an issue when fukunaga is wearing a shirt with their pronouns on it, but Yamamoto is there and ready to correct anyone who messes up their pronouns and throw hands if it is necessary.
Yaku:
Trans and gay
‘Trans rights are human rights’ shirt. He’s got blue shorts and they have watermelon slices on them.
Because it is a lot of walking, Komi will give Yaku piggyback rides whenever his binder starts making it hard to breathe.
Yaku and Komi are 100% the ones who kiss in front of anti-pride protesters. They thrive on their cries.
Kai:
He’s straight and plays a similar role to Konoha where he just makes sure everyone is staying safe. He’s glad that he can do something to support his friends even if it is just stopping Shibayama from getting absorbed by the crowd and keeping Lev from running off.
Lev:
Gay
Did not realize he was supposed to dress up for pride. Showed up at Kuroo’s (where they all met to go together) in a Nekoma Boys Volleyball shirt and fucking cargo shorts or something. Yaku kicked him, but then proceeded to tie-dye that shirt real fast. Shibayama painted a rainbow on his cheek, so it ended okay... if you ignore the cargo shorts.
Shibayama kept getting lost in the crowd because he’s so short, and now Lev will not let go of him. He carried him on his shoulders for a bit, but it tired him out pretty quickly, so most of the time they just hold hands, or Lev will wrap an oversized arm around him.
Shibayama:
Pan
His shirt says ‘pan-tastic’ and no one can convince me otherwise, and no one on Nekoma had the heart to make fun of it so it just stayed. He has three hair clips, one blue, one yellow, and one pink that he wears. Yellow shorts. He’s got cat socks, but that is unrelated.
Inuoka:
Bi
Tie-dyed shirt in blue, pink, and purple. Black shorts. He also tie-dyed a pair of white converse and they look very cool.

FukuTora + 20: jawline kiss
Final free rein kiss prompt from Winny, and a real pleasure - Fukunaga in particular makes me laugh, he’s so cute and quirky, and I will never be over “Take it easy, Dostoevsky!”
Shouhei’s in the stairwell, watching the sunlit dust motes and eating his lunch, when, for the fifth time this month, the scene plays out like this: Tora clatters down the stairs with fists clenched at his sides, gets to within five feet of him, blushes bright red, and storms off. Shouhei guesses he’s going to the weights room or to go for a run. And he stares after Tora’s hunched, retreating back with a hmph.
See: Tora has a crush on Shouhei. Tora knows this; Shouhei knows this. He’s also almost prepared to bet that Tora knows that Shouhei knows that Tora’s got a crush on Shouhei. Tora’s dense but he’s not that dense.
It’s always been like this, though: Tora acts on his gut, so much so that when his head starts to take over, it tends to end in disaster (or chickening out), and Shouhei has to be the one to set him straight. But a bucket of water won’t do it this time, more’s the pity, so Shouhei goes for the next best option.
Tora always waits a few days between confession-cum-embarrassed-running-away moments, so he’s fully chilled out the next day when Shouhei makes his steps deliberately louder as he jogs towards the gym before practice. Tora half turns his head, lets out a “Oh, hey, Fukunaga—”
And right on cue, Shouhei stops dead in his tracks, leans up, and kisses his jaw.
“I like you too,” he says.
As he jogs off towards the gym, there’s a loud sound behind him. It might be Tora yelling in shock. It might be his jaw hitting the ground. Shouhei’s smiling to himself, and obviously he can’t let Tora see that, his mind would probably combust, so he doesn’t let himself turn around to witness the fallout.
More’s the pity. The fallout is always the best part of Necessary Interventions; and the fallout this time, Shouhei’s sure, is going to be particularly great.

The reason I didn’t make Kenma Chishiya is because I literally could not find another character to fit Arisu and I also really wanted Kuroo as Usagi because mountain climber kuroo?? yes??
This is half based on the manga, half based on the show. why? Because I was planning on making an AU before Netflix was like “hey! let’s make a show and meSS UP BEAN’S ENTIRE OUTLINE AND ALSO LET’S MAKE CHISHIYA A CARBON COPY OF KENMA IN THE SHOW”
It’s also a combination because some of the games in the manga are confusing, and some of the games in the show are confusing, so I took the non-confusing ones that I could easily explain without visuals and plopped them into my outline.
There are also a few details that did not make an appearance in either piece of media and those are basically just the loose ends that I had to stitch up somehow

I won’t be writing past the events in the 1st season to avoid spoilers to those who have only seen the show, so you’re gonna have to wait for the second season before I start writing the second part.

In the training camp bedroom during downtime, Shouhei hears Tora muttering loudly under his breath that whoa, Fukunaga reads novels in Russian, is that even possible—but it's quite simple, really. All Shouhei did was order a Russian copy of Crime and Punishment online, cut off the cover and glue it on top of his Japanese translation of the novel, and all he has to do now is read and wait—by the end of training camp, Tora’s overbearing curiosity will win over, and Shouhei’s prepared to bet that he and Tora are definitely going to be friends.
