Best Siblings Round 1: Akk & Im & Egg (Enchante) vs Koichi & Younger Siblings (Eternal Yesterday)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Submitted Reasons Under Cut]
Akk & Im & Egg: "They seem to live alone together, meaning Akk and Im are raising Egg. Akk and Egg help Im out a ton with her business, and Akk stands up for Im against misogynistic online comments in literally the first episode. Egg and Im are shown to be some of Akk’s biggest supporters as he navigates his relationship with Theo (with the exception of one bad take Im has, but it all works out). Their sibling shenanigans make some of the funniest scenes in the show, especially Egg’s. I don’t think any character wanted Akk and Theo to get together more than she did."
Koichi & Younger Siblings: "Koichi’s preschool-age siblings aren’t a huge part of the story, but Koichi’s loving, caring relationship with them grounds him, and is part of what makes Mitsuru falls in love with him. And the scene in the hospital where Koichi is the first person to hold his newborn sibling… I’m starting to cry just thinking about it. It’s tender and heartbreaking and somehow joyful all at the same time."

So, eien no kino (Eternal Yesterday) finale....
I'm trying to deal with it....Too much feelings (why I am like this?😭).
Find me listen to this music theme of the series and trying to not feel a fucking thing anymore.
youtube
Yeah this is one more villain origin story for me... New level of sadness accomplished.

About that "fish" kiss from ep.3 .... forgive them, they're young and inexperienced(?)...... it was their first time [together] and to the same gender to be exact 😚

okay so yes i understand everybody dunking on the dead fish kiss in eternal yesterday ep3 bc really would it have killed them to move their mouths even just a little??? but i personally think it shouldn’t have happened any other way and here’s why:
koichi is so clearly following mitsuru’s lead. you can see him ask by leaning in a little, then watching carefully for the response
and then mitsuru says yes by closing his eyes and tipping his head back and koichi closes the distance
Tumblr media
first: they’re both in high school. literal babies
second: earlier in the episode, mitsuru mentions that before koichi he thought he just wasn’t sexually attracted to anyone, which to me suggests that he’s somewhere demisexual-adjacent on the ace spectrum
which would mean that even desiring someone physically, let alone acting on it, is something he doesn’t have a lot of experience with
which would mean that of course he doesn’t know how to kiss!
and koichi, being his wonderful whipped self, is letting mitsuru take the lead every step of the way, bc the last thing he wants to do is hurt his mit-chan by rushing into anything
so they end up just standing there with their lips barely touching for ten seconds. twice.
which is awkward af but also kind of adorable and heartwrenching because you can see it taking their breath away anyway. the emotional chemistry is sooo palpable in this scene
i think they’re both afraid that if they swap even a drop of spit they will instantly go up in smoke from sheer overwhelming shock and honestly i believe it
this represents so many firsts for them. it makes sense that they look like beginners at it.
did i just spend way more time justifying a dead fish lip press than i ever thought i would? yeah. am i biased? i mean yeah, in my eyes this show can already do no wrong. will i have to eat every word i just wrote if the physical intimacy in the next episode hasn’t gotten any more.... intimate? yeah but i’ll take that risk

Whew, wow, I was going to dismiss this movie away... until the last few minutes changed my mind. A great example of how an ending makes or breaks a story. Not a Must Watch. But still a watch for the curious.
Godzilla Minus One is a 2023 Japanese epic kaiju film directed, written, and with visual effects by Takashi Yamazaki. Produced by Toho Studios and Robot Communications and distributed by Toho, starring Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando and Kuranosuke Sasaki.

Just a comparison of the line delivery in both Arcadia of My Youth and Endless Orbit SSX. Seeing as the former is a feature length movie, ig it kinda required a somewhat more realistic line delivery while the series has more of the usual anime over-the-topness to it.
And as an added bonus, a comparison of Kei Tomiyama's take on Tochiro's voice and Keaton Yamada's take in Space Pirate Captain Harlock. Both voices have a certain softspoken element but with slightly different vibes (though I can't put my finger on what those vibes really are).

UPDATE: A clip of Koichi Yamadera's take from the Queen Emeraldas OVA! Not bad tbh. ^_^
UPDATE 2: To show off a bit more of Yamadera-san's take on the character, I added a clip of him from the Harlock Saga ova. Kinda shows off Tochiro's intimidating side.
Honestly, Kei Tomiyama's Tochiro will always be my favorite, but Koichi Yamadera's take is a pretty close second imo.
