Osamu realizes he’s in love with you when you back his car into… something.

Years later, he can’t even begin to remember what you hit- the trash? Mailbox? Maybe the curb? Honestly it could’ve been a kid, he genuinely doesn’t know. Whatever it was, it caused a deep gash into the rear passenger side and popped the tire, the crunch of metal standing no chance against whatever was in your way.

And he could never be too mad at you. Never. This was no exception, it was just a car and a simple thing that he could fix himself, or pay someone to, but before he can convince you of this, his jaw slacks and his face pales slightly when you let out a bark, an absolute shock of a word so freely past your pretty lips:

“GOD-FUCKING-DAMNIT!”

It slipped out with zero hesitation, at the time, no shame either, and you just looked so mad about something he honestly couldn’t care less about, so long as you were okay. But clearly, you cared, and the moment you realized what your said?

God you looked so cute.

Your face got a sheen of sweat, your hand immediately coming up to cover your mouth, and with the most wide eyes, you whipped your head over to look at him. Your eyes lock with his, and he just. He starts cackling. He’s laughing at your poor, precious expense, and you’re whining in his now damaged car for him to stop, head thunking against the steering wheel in embarrassment.

And he realizes, once you finally are able to park the car and get out to swat at his chest, that he wants to be there for everything.

Every ‘god damn it,’ every scratch on the car that you may or may not cause every time you say something in front of him that you shouldn’t, he wants to be a part of the memory you now harbor. Every time you burn dinner, or you two get lost driving and at least are holding hands, everything.

You’re everything to him. And he realizes it for the first time when you back his brand new car into…. Whatever you backed into.

i know this has been said tons of times already in different ways but,

i just love the way Miguel and the Spider Society forcing everyone to follow the “canon” and telling Miles that he is not allowed to change the predestined story because “everyone else had to go through it” is an excellent metaphor for older generations re-enforcing to younger generations the ideology that the suffering they have to go through of whatever kind is normal and expected.

it’s like that saying “if i had to grow through hell, so do you.” but the thing is, Spiderman is the hero who is typically the one saying, “i’ll make sure you never go through hell like i did.” it’s such a cool way to show the conflict and disconnect between the two ideologies that Miles struggles with in the film

just….like the fact that Miguel and Jessica sort of symbolize the kind of parents who worked their asses off to make sure the world you live in will be better than theirs then feel upset and betrayed when their child who has the privilege to live a life they might have desired in the kid’s age. definitely didn’t find any relatability to that aha

I just love that it’s the fact that Spiderman’s story of losing Uncle Ben, losing the police chief, losing Gwen, are things Miles is told he cannot fight (the whole parallel between being told life = suffering and desiring a happier outcome won’t work). BUT THEN, Miles says fuck that! he says “no, why should i have to put up with that when i know i can change it!” and just 🫠

Ace/aro books coming out this year that I’m looking forward to!

Is Love the Answer by Uta Isaki - stand-alone manga about a college girl who discovers she is aroace. The same mangaka also did ‘Mine-kun is Asexual’ a couple of years ago which I liked, though it was much shorter, so I’m happy to see a full length release from them. This came out just last week, so I’m super excited to read it when it gets here!

I want to be a wall (Vol.2) by Honami Shirono - manga series - releasing 17th Jan. I already posted about how much I enjoyed Vol 1 of this series, but for recap it’s about an aroace woman and her lavender marriage to a gay man who is unrequitedly in love with his best friend. I’m really excited to see how their non-conventional relationship plays out :) it’s very slice of life and cozy!

I am Ace by Cody Daigle-Orians aka Ace Dad Advice - releasing 21 Feb 2023. I’m glad to see a book about a sexuality actually written for an ace audience, because I feel like a lot of aspec books/articles are aimed at raising awareness with allos. I’m excited to see how this one goes!

Sounds Fake But Okay: An Asexual and Aromantic Perspective on Love, Relationships, Sex, and Pretty Much Anything Else - by Kayla Kaszyca and Sarah Costello - releasing 21 Feb 2023. I’ve listened to their podcast a bit over the years and I’m curious to see what they come up with in this book!

Why do you think mike is bi?

I personally think that Mike did have a thing for El in s1, 2, and parts of s3, but started to realise that they weren’t really compatible as romantic partners once he started dating her (especially with her spying on him and dumping him publicly). I think Mike has a lot of issues with his current relationship with El but I don’t really think her being a girl is one of them.

Also, Mike being bi doesn’t take away from byler or add anything extra to mileven, so i don’t see why not? If the show proves me wrong and tells me Mike is indisputably gay, then obviously that is canon, because that is a possibility too. As of now, Mike doesn’t have a canon sexuality and I have a feeling that they won’t really go into it in s5
