AU, where wwx has had relationships in the past and isn't as much of a virgin, has lwj first thought he was, which does upset him a little bit because he thought wwx never had anyone before him and why didn't wwx told him?

This comes from wwx jokingly mentioning something about a past relationship casually, but it didn't really hit has only a joke this time.

He thought wwx had the same spark as him when they were younger.

They argue as they fight on a night hunt, lwj saying he simply doesn't believe him. lack of attention leaves space for the demon to curse them, when they cannot physically touch each other until lwj has met with everyone wwx has slept with in the past.

lwj has 5 marks on his arms that won't leave and is told that until the five people told him that they did in fact have been with wwx before the mark won't leave and they won't be able to touch again.

Cue going all over the place to meet the people concerned, a bit awkward as lwj seems to still not want to believe wwx has experience (why does it matter anyway).

They first meet nhs, as wwx felt it was a safe first person to see (and on of the closest too). They had a little something going on in high school, fooling around behind everyone's back and just having fun really. nhs is clearly amused at the situation but admits rather easily that they indeed has something.

before they part nhs wishes good luck to wwx (especially because he knows that some of wwx past relationships might not be as easy).

next is someone they actually stumble upon has they are heading more towards lanling. They meet up with lsz, ljy and wn who were heading to lanling too for a night hunt with the jin. wwx manages to pull wn to the side with lwj, leaving the two teens to eat their lunch, clearly sensing this was something the adult needed to deal with (and ljy having the feeling he does /not/ want to know what this is all about).

wn gets red in the face at the memory of what they did when wwx asks him to confirm they indeed had that kind of relationship at some point.

They were in college and wwx wasn't in the best place at the time, needed someone and wn kindly helped him. wn also promise lwj that he doesn't want this kind of relationship with wwx anymore, that he doesn't need to worry about it.

a second mark is gone, three more to go. and this is where wwx starts to become a little bit nervous about it, three more left to go and two of which he is nervous about.

he asks if they can take a little break once they get in lanling, since it has already been two days. that night they talk for real, wwx a bit sick of the silent treatment lwj is giving him now. Why does it matter if he has slept with people before? Why can't lwj glance over that the same way he does all the bad things he did?

"Am I just worthless now that you know I was not a virgin?" he asked.

He can be carefree and shameless, but it doesn't stop the feeling of being hurt by the idea that lwj cares more about that insignificant part than he does /him/. and lwj didn't really expect that in a way, trying to pull him in his arms only to remember he cannot even touch him.

He apologises to wwx, saying he shouldn't have gotten upset over it, that's it probably more normal to have multiple relationships rather than falling deeply for one person and never experiencing anything (this is also why he was a bit clumsy when they first did it).

they talk some more about it, wwx promising he has no lingering feelings for them other than friendship for those he is still really in contact with.

fourth day rolls in and wwx drag lwj to one of the café in lanling, saying he has already texted the person to meet them here.

lwj scan the place for a familiar face (since up until now these were all people he also knew), but cannot really recognise anyone. It's not until he sees someone in a booth suddenly wave at them that he notices them.

they join him, wwx presenting him as mxy, one of jgs sons (illegitimate is left unsaid here). mxy is a somewhat interesting change to the previous two, as he seems rather curious about lwj and asks wwx if this is the gege he keeps texting him about.

It drags a little bit, catching up a bit since they haven't seen each other in a while until they get to the point.

mxy is also pretty quick and easy to admit to it, commenting that it had been fun times with wwx in the past. "But I think I am slowly getting closer to that person" mxy smiled at him, wwx rather happy to hear that.

they stay a bit longer to keep talking about a bit of everything before wwx finally remembers something. "Do you think you can do the other thing I needed you to do? I don't really think this person will come if it's me" he asks, a bit nervous.

mxy nods, saying he already called the said person and they will be at the park at 16 p.m for them, near the pond.

after that they say goodbye, promising to keep in touch, before the couple goes to the park.

wwx also explain on the way (after seeing lwj look) that he was seeing mxy around the same time as wn, when he could have been doing better. mxy was also not in the greatest place because of his family and his love life not doing great. They were mostly comfortable for each other.

"I am happy to hear things are slowly working out and that he is more comfortable now too" he admits with a smile, since it had been a while since he had last seen him.

when they finally get to the meeting point, waiting under a willow tree, wwx looks a bit nervous about this person. lwj tries to figure out who it could be, especially in lanling. he finally sees who it is when someone walks past the branches to enter under the tree, stopping net in his track once he saw them, as surprised as lwj was.

"wwx? lwj?" jzx asked, looking around to see if he couldn't find mxy, only for his phone to ding and an apology to pop up from mxy.

"sorry for using tricks on you, I wasn't sure if you would have accepted to meet with me" wwx smiled apologetically.

especially if jzx were to ask why he needed to see him. He does end up telling him what the situation is, lwj is still a bit stunned that one of the past lovers was /jzx/. Didn't they hate each other in the past?

jzx ended up with a rather awkward and sour look. "wwx... I-"

"No no, I know, you are happy with shijie and want to forget about all of this, I had nearly forgotten about it myself, I would never bring it up if I didn't need to, I know you prefer it never happened too," wwx said. jzx looked at them, how they were standing at a certain distance, remembering how they showed they couldn't touch each other. a real contrast to how they were usually nearly atop each other all the time.

he figured he couldn't really refuse to at least say it happened. If he were in the same situation, he would wish for wwx to also admit to it.

"Yes, we did sleep together once" he finally stated, watching as one of the two marks left slowly faded away. He sighed a sigh of relief, relieved that his job here was already over. "Thank you, jzx" wwx told him with a sincere smile, "I promise to make this situation die down fully now".

but lwj wasn't really satisfied. Had it been the previous three he wouldn't have minded the little detail, yet this one was a contrast since wwx didn't give him anything about the situation they had in the past.

"Wait, what happened?" lwj asked, a slight frown on his face. after all, they both look like this situation had been something they hated, yet he couldn't bring himself to believe either wwx of jzx would force himself on other.

the two other men had been surprised by lwj sudden question, clearly looking as though he wouldn't give up so easily on the matter. wwx gave a look to jzx, only for the man to look away "... you can tell him, just make sure no one else knows about it" he asked before getting out of the hidden space under the willow tree.

There was an awkward silence after it, lwj looking back at wwx who simply sighed.

"it's not... what you seem to think". when they were in their late teen, a bit before jzx actually started a good relationship with jyl, something happened on a night hunt they were both at.

They got trapped in a cave with a creature that was secreting an aphrodisiac scent. They first thought of just letting the effect die down, but it didn't work and even trying to relieve it alone was not working as greatly as they wished it would. They mutually agreed on doing it just to get rid of the effect, which did work. they were thankful that they had managed that before anyone came to save them.

It would have never happened if it were not for the situation, it was simply a mutual agreement because it was getting unbearable. "This is why I said I had nearly forgotten about it, it wasn't sex for the pleasure of it, but rather because of the situation, plus we had both agreed on forgetting it".

it did reassure lwj to know none of them had forced the other, but that it was indeed a mutual agreement. They stayed a bit longer under the tree, wwx apparently still a bit lost in mind.

"Where are we going next?" finally ask lwj softly, getting a bit closer to him.

this managed to snap wwx out of it, looking nervous again. "yunmeng" wwx replied, looking hesitant this time. lwj frowned a bit, having already an idea who it might be.

They both knew it would not be an easy one to get this time.

On their trip to yunmeng lwj tried to calm down wwx, clearly seeing that his husband was getting more nervous as they were getting there. wwx never told him how it was(he usually only figured it out once they were there) but they both knew who it was despite not saying the name.

once they were there, they booked a room, wwx made a phone call.

It didn't go really well, which only left him looking more nervous and down than before. lwj tries reassuring him (even though he was frustrated that he couldn't touch his husband). It took a whole day for wwx to convince the last person, calling many times (many of those were left unanswered). He even cheated by calling his shijie, asking if she might be able to help him.

only then did the last person finally agree to come to their room. jc didn't look happy to be here, saying he was busy and couldn't stay for long. This sent wwx into explaining quickly what the situation was, why he was back here and why he asked him to come.

jc didn't look that impressed or interested in the situation. "And why is this my problem?" he asked, arm crossed over his chest as he frowned.

wwx couldn't really answer. It was not jc fault that they were cursed, it was mostly wwx own fault for never really mentioning anything before, but he had hoped jc would try to get rid of him and simply admit to it.

they go back and forth, wwx trying to convince him to simply says yes they had something when they were younger.

They end up at a dead-end, as jc doesn't seem like he wanna budge.

"I'll be out of your hair as soon as this is done, you won't need to deal with me after that" wwx ends up saying.

"Ah, so you simply intent on running away again?" jc asks with a click of his tongue.

wwx looked back at him, confused. "What? No, I just thought you didn't want me there after all that happened" he says, confused.

"Why would I want you gone when I wanted you to be by my side when I became sect leader?!" jc asks

"But that night you said..." wwx doesn't have more, preferring not remembering that night. When he was pretty much quicked out after he went too far in his messing around. He had an argument with jc about why he had hidden so much. It was not pleasant memory, they both said things they wish they never said.

lwj tried grabbing wwx hands to calm him down, only for the touch to not happen, looking a bit frustrated. He was about to say something, only for wwx to look at him, clearly not wanting him to.

It was something he and jc needed to talk about without someone else adding in. so he simply closed his mouth, nodding as he simply kept close to wwx, hoping it could calm him down.

"All I wanted all these years was for you to come back," jc said, "And when you finally reappeared in the cultivation world you were already by lwj sides" he pointed out.

"I thought you wouldn't want to see me after what I did to the jiang family" wwx admitted, only for jc to get angrier "You didn't do anything! a-die is the one who should have known better, all you did was living with what was given to you, I just wished that you would have told me and relied on me more! I thought we had something stronger than that...".

wwx was a bit surprised by his words. he knew jfm was the one who should have worked thing better, but something in him still thought that leaving would probably have fixed things up (especially when kicked out, he had made more damage than not). He had even come to the conclusion he had simply been hurting jc all these years, which is not something he wanted to do.

there was a moment of silence, both of them not adding anything, what was said slowly sinking in, realising that there had been huge misunderstanding all these years.

"I just wished we could get back to what we had," jc said.

"then... we can try doing that" wwx suggested, something in his hope that he could be close to jc again. he would be lying if he said he had never longed for a similar day to what they had when younger.

"Do you promise on really doing this?" jc asks, as if scared to get his hopes up, "Or are you going to run away again?".

wwx offered him a smile, moving carefully to take his hand in his "I want to be close to you again, I missed messing around with my shidi".

jc rolled his eyes a bit, "Who's you shidi exactly?" he asks, a bit more playfully than annoyed.

They knew it would need a lot of talking and sorting things out, but they both wanted this and had already a big misunderstanding figured out. jc took a deep breath after their first sorting out, looking from wwx to lwj. To start things better he would probably need to at least help with this.

"We had something when we were younger" jc finally admitted with a sigh.

the moment the last mark was gone lwj grab wwx other free hand, happy that it worked this time. seeing from his look, wwx quickly explained he and jc had experimented a bit when they were still teens and this is where it was all from.

"But we are not looking for that again," jc said, seeing the look lwj had given him. It had already been years and his heart was settled elsewhere in this department. He simply wished to have his friend back again.

jc would have stayed longer, but he had other things to do, promising to grab dinner together later.

only when they were alone did lwj pull wwx to him, kissing him deeply and possessively. wwx suspected he wants to erase the past, which made him laugh a bit.

"Does lan-er-gege want to claim me all over again now that he can touch me?" wwx teased as he gently grabbed the man's headband.

"hm" he received before his lips were captured again.

this was meant to be shorter, but oh well I was never able to control myself anyway. also wrote half in spit because I want this to be a fanfic on ao3 to piss off the reader who keeps bothering wx written who don't basically copy past the novel so here have wwx who has had experience in the past and a bonus of shuangjie getting to sort shit out (because of course I had to)

Jin Zixuan, gasping and trembling, clung to Wei Wuxian in a manner that would have been almost cute, if it had been literally anyone else in the world doing it. Well, anyone except the Wens. Well, anyone except the Wens, except that cute Wen Qionlin kid who was, indeed, kinda cute by default.

The point being, Jin Zixuan looked really pathetic, and also somewhat cute. Two things Wei Wuxian was discovering thanks to the Wens’ brilliant idea of forcing people from different sects to share rooms, under the fear that they would get plotting otherwise. Which was exactly what Wei Wuxian would have done if he had had any chance of being alone with Jiang Cheng, sure, but it was still very rude of the Wens to make assumptions like that.

“There, there,” Wei Wuxian said, patting Jin Zixuan’s shoulder a little harder than he’d meant to, just because he wasn’t used to being the one comforting others.

“Had a dream,” Jin Zixuan gasped, almost sobbing. “Awful, so awful… I was getting married…”

“Oh yeah?” Wei Wuxian replied, instantly forgetting any pity he’d felt up until that point. “And to who exactly?”

“Father was marrying me off to Wen Chao to stay in the good graces of Wen zongzhu.”

Wei Wuxian snorted.

Fine, that was a pretty awful thing to dream about.

“Then it got worse,” Jin Zixuan mumbled. “So much worse. There was a turtle, and it stomped on Wen Chao just before we could take our bows.”

“Must have been a big turtle.”

“Huge. And Father said that I had to marry someone, because the party and the robes had cost so much money…”

“Yeah, that does sound like something your dad would say.”

“So they grabbed someone at random, and that’s who I married,” Jin Zixuan sighed pathetically. “It was the worst, it was awful…”

Wei Wuxian patted his shoulder again, a little more gently this time. He was getting the hang of that comforting thing now, and it wasn’t so hard in the end. Of course that wasn’t a surprise. Wei Wuxian was always pretty great at everything he did.

“Ok, so who did they make you marry in your dream?”

“They made me marry Wei Ying,” Jin Zixuan whined, making a disgusted grimace. “And he kissed me, very badly, and then he turned into a donkey, and then…”

But the rest of the dream was to be lost to posterity because Wei Wuxian had violently grabbed Jin Zixuan’s pillow and used it to attempt murder until the Wens, alerted by the noise, came to see what was going on and rescued Jin Zixuan.

Wei Wuxian sneaks into the settlement at Gaoshandao under cover of the last hour of darkness, stowing his tiny boat in one of the rocky northeastern coves. He isn’t supposed be there. He isn’t supposed to be able to get there; that was the whole point of settling the Wens out on this remote island, where the only points of arrival are by sword or boat. The only official visitors to Gaoshandao are the disciples sent by the sects once a month to check in with the settlement.

Well. Sometimes Madam Jin visits too. But she’s only there to see her son, and she pointedly ignores the rest of the settlement as she tries to convince Jin Zixuan to return to lanling, so Wei Wuxian thinks she shouldn’t really count.

There’s a path carved into the cliffs in this cove, steep and narrow enough to overlook if you don’t already know of it. The official visitors dock on the south beach, but Wei Wuxian has to navigate that treacherous path, dodging bird nests the whole way. He slips into the settlement and makes his way to the house closest to the dock, where the door is unlocked for him.

Jin Zixuan is still in bed, although he looks up and murmurs a drowsy hello when the door slides open. That hello turns into something more awake when Wei Wuxian crosses the room without a word and collapses onto the bed, burying his face in Jin Zixuan’s shoulder.

“That bad, huh?” Jin Zixuan asks, patting Wei Wuxian’s back.

Wei Wuxian groans into the silk of Jin Zixuan’s robes and then moves his head sideways a little to mouth at Jin Zixuan’s collarbone. Now that he’s here, he can stop trying to ignore the furious thrum of resentment slicing through him, cold and demanding against his bones. It’s built up pretty significantly since he was last here, and he needs a little time outside of his own head, a little time with someone else in control, to settle him into his skin again.

“Want some quiet time?” Jin Zixuan hums.

Wei Wuxian nods and kisses a line up to the corner of Jin Zixuan’s jaw. It’s okay. He can trust Jin Zixuan to take control.

He isn’t being naive about this. He knows that Jin Zixuan didn’t ruin his whole future and reputation for him, or for any of the Wen remnants except one. He knows that Jin Zixuan had really only been thinking of A-Tao back then, when he’d stood before the world and stammered out the biggest lie of his life, claiming his infant half-sister as his own child. But they’re allies now, and a lot less reluctantly so than they were when the resettlement negotiations were first beginning, so Wei Wuxian also knows that when he’s in need like this, Jin Zixuan will help him out.

“Alright,” Jin Zixuan says, and his voice swings sharp enough that if Wei Wuxian didn’t know what to look for by now, he’d miss the care and worry underneath that haughty tone. “Go take A-Tao over to Wen-popo, and give me a little time to wake up first. Then we can get started.”
