it's easy to read the situation between li tongguang, ruyi, and yuanzhou as a love triangle on a superficial level, but looking even one step further, it's clear that there's no triangle about it. li tongguang is obsessed with ren xin; ning yuanzhou is devoted to ren ruyi. ltg's obsession is fervent and all consuming, but it's not devotion. like ruyi herself notes, his feelings to her are on the basis of her as a mother figure in his life, as a replacement for what he never received from his mother. is there an element of romantic/sexual love/desire to it? maybe. more likely he's deluded himself into thinking that, because the truth is, it's doubtful that ltg even understands what love is (platonic, filial, familial, romantic, all of the above, etc), because he has no basis for understanding. ruyi's teachings and actions towards him are the closest thing he has to hold up as an example. what he wants is ren xin, is a replica of the master he had. he doesn't want ruyi, because he doesn't actually care about ruyi. therefore, he doesn't care if she's sad, angry, mad; he just can't bear her 'abandoning' him. we saw this way back when she first meet and left him, both at thirteen and seventeen. although he distrusts her first, she saves his life and cares for him in the way no one else has, hence her first being raised on a platform in his mind. when she leaves for good, ending their master-disciple relationship/training, even though it's for official business and she's not abandoning him, in his mind that's exactly what it is. so now that she's in his life again, he won't let her leave again. he was powerless before, a child with no proper name, but now he's a recognized member of the imperial family, a man who can meet her as 'equals' (even when that's far from the truth). as a child, he could only cling to her legs and beg her, but now he has the power to keep her by his side. it's telling that when he finally gets confirmation of her identity, it's not ning yuanzhou he seeks to harm (even though he detests him and their relationship), but yang ying. yang ying is ruyi's new disciple, and as ltg doesn't know she's a woman, he only sees her as his direct replacement.

ning yuanzhou, on the other hand, is devoted to ruyi. he wants to build a new life and future with her, instead of slotting her into a spot in the life he already has. he's someone who accompanies her on walks and makes her midnight snacks, who holds her when she needs to be held and lets her go when she needs to do things on her own. when she speaks her mind, he listens, even when it makes him discontent/it's not what he wanted/wants to hear. he sees her unabashedly as his equal, and though he acknowledges her skills and abilities, or points out her naivety, he never does it to belittle her; to him, she is his peer, deserving of the highest honor and respect. he trusts her to have his back, and she has come to trust him to have her. he did what she might have thought no man would ever do: he proved himself reliable, so she came to rely on him. yuanzhou gives her freedom and autonomy as both ren ruyi and ren xin. of course they run into problems, but they both learn and grow from them, as individuals and as a couple. yuanzhou's belief in her is unwavering, but adaptable, whereas ltg's is unwavering, but frozen in time, disallowing for any new information to be presented. yuanzhou works with ruyi to accept the changes thrown her way; he seeks the core behind her actions in order to better understand her. li tongguang cannot accept the changes in ruyi's character, because they run contrary to the master he has on a pedestal in his mind.

what li tongguang wants is to return to the past, but yuanzhou offers ruyi the promise of a future, even one that might never come to fruition. there's no triangle about it.

#star stumbles #my thoughts #a journey to love #一念关山 #cdrama #written right after watching ep 26 #hope i explained it well #honestly i have a lot more thoughts about this ep and ruyi/ltg but that's still a separate post that will happen. well sometime #maybe after ep 32 idk #it's just the juxtaposition between entering a room that is a shrine to the person she is trying to leave behind #and going home to a man who makes her wonton soup and accompanies her on her revenge journey #who offers his own insights and thoughts but lets her lead the way when it comes down to it. #he gives her ultimate control over her own journey. and ruyi who has never had that freedom of course is drawn to him #oh and one more point that didn't make it in #ruyi's confrontation about how ltg is unwilling to give up his power and success is further proof of his obsession =/= love or devotion #it's not that ning yuanzhou WOULD necessarily give up those things if she asked him to #but he would respect her enough to let her go if he knew he was unwilling to give up his position #of course nyz right now is someone who is planning on retiring and living a quiet life away from it all #which is appealing to ruyi #but ltg obviously won't give up his name and success. he wanted an imperial name but now that he got it the avenue has opened up #we saw his big dreams early on in eps 4-5 (before the character butchery...though i can't really call it that since it makes sense #but still drives me insane) #and of course he won't! for a neglected illegitimate child with no power even gaining a sliver of it is just the beginning #and ruyi is honestly so far from the court in that she might have been close with empress zhaojie #but her understanding of the court is very ignorant. not in a bad way but she was a weapon so of course she didn't have to understand that #she just struck when told to. the power games of the court are basic knowledge but they still shock and confuse her #so it's also a thing about living two different lives and different paths #even though yuanzhou and her are on different ones theirs are still compatible #at this point in their lives. as they said earlier if they had met earlier they probably would be trying to kill each other

Notes: This was written with my OC in mind, but I tried to keep it as neutral as possible. GN! Reader x SingleDad! Ghost. “Mom” used as a role, not a gender thing. Kinda rushed end because Writer's Block was about to hit me. I put SMYL's "You knew it was me" EP and let my mind go wild.

I had met Simon Riley when we were children. A fateful Christmas, I had traveled with my family to enjoy the holidays in my uncle’s place. I was 12 years old, and it was my first Christmas knowing Santa wasn’t real. In hindsight, I’m glad I knew. If I hadn’t maybe Simon and I wouldn’t have become as close as we did. Midnight had arrives and the fireworks were roaring. I stood in the middle of the field behind my uncle’s yard until I saw a boy standing not too far. He was watching the fireworks, but he had a sad expression on his face. I decided to approach him to ask him why he was sad. That boy, I later learned, was named Simon and he was 8 years old. He explained to me that Santa hadn’t arrived in his home. I’ll never get over what I did, I can’t even remember how exactly it happened, but I put on a face, as if I was deep in thought. After a second I raised a finger, declaring: “Santa didn’t forget about you, he just got confused with the address. I was wondering whose the extra presents under my tree were for. Wait right here, I’ll go bring them for you”. I’ll never stop being grateful to my quick-wit. A teddy bear and a football, part of my presents which I just gave up for the younger boy to have. A teddy bear and a football changed the entire trajectory of my life.

Now, I’m 26 years old and I am in college, studying medicine. Simon and I remained friends throughout of childhood and teenage years. For more than a decade, we were there for each other. I helped him deal with his pain in a healthier way, to open up, even if only a little. We were very close until I had to move away for college. Now it’s been three years since we last saw each other. My studies kept me away for too long and my mental health was begging me for a break, so I decided to spend the summer back at home, and maybe, just maybe, see Simon once again. I wondered how he must have been all these years. He would be 22, and a half, as he always felt the need to remark. I wondered if he had found a partner, a job, something to study. What had been of him all these years?

Whatever I had hoped to find surely wasn’t anything like the scene before me. After arriving to our town, I saw Simon’s mom running errands in the market, pushing a baby stroller. I approached to say hello and catch up, and she introduced me to the little boy on the stroller. His name was Ken, and he was Simon’s son. The little boy was holding the same teddy bear I had given Simon 14 years before. I guess my shock must have been very apparent because she rushed to explain. Turns out, during a one night stand, Simon’s protection broke, resulting in the sleeping toddler on the carriage. She explained that his mother didn’t want to be involved in his life, so she left, and that Simon had been raising him on his own. Simon’s mom helped whenever she could, but with her other son in rehab, it had become very hard for her. The story broke my heart, not only because of the idea of his mother abandoning the little ray of sun that slept peacefully in his stroller, but the idea of Simon, who I know had no idea of how to be a father, doing it all on his own.

The moment I could finally catch Simon and speak with him, it seemed as if those three years apart meant nothing, as if no time had passed between us. I asked why he never told me, why he never asked me for help. He said the obvious excuse, “You were busy with school”, “I didn’t want to worry you”, etc. He introduced me to Ken and I decided to take a semester off to help him a little with the day to day, to see if I could help him grow confident in his parenting. By accident, I found out, Simon had ended up spoiling his son a little. The little boy had no idea how to regulate his emotions and Simon was definitely not a great example. Si wasn’t abusive at all, that’s the only thing he knew, never to put his hands on his kid, like his father had done; but he had no idea on how to properly calm down a child. It took time and patience, but with time I was able to see the growth of both Simon and Ken.

One day, after a long day at work, Simon had arrived home tired and stressed. He entered the kitchen, where I was, keeping an eye on dinner. Ken was peacefully sleeping on my arms; poor angel was exhausted after a long day. My best friend made his way towards me and pressed his forehead against my shoulder.

-Rough day today, huh?

-Terrible one.

-I think I know of something that’ll cheer you up a bit.

I pointed at the kitchen table, where a sheet of paper laid, surrounded by crayons. The paper said “My Hero” and under it was a drawing of Simon holding Ken. When Simon grabbed it, a tired smile crept up to his lips before he turned around to plant a kiss on the little sleeping toddler on my arms.

-He also did his homework before I even told him anything.

-Homework? He is barely three.

-His homework is drawing with crayons, not calculus, Si. It’s only so he can learn the habit and it’s easier for him to keep it going when he grows up.

I giggled, shaking my head. I saw his open arms, silently asking me to hold his kid. I handed him the sleeping child, who tossed a little as I did.

-Why was he sleeping on your arms?

-Poor baby was tired, but he wanted to stay with me, so I offered holding him. When he fell asleep, I tried to put him down on his bed, but he’d always wake up fuzzy about it.

-He really loves being around you. He got that from me.

-I suppose he did.

Simon sat down on one of the chairs around the kitchen table, hugging his son and feeling the tension and stress of the day melt off.

-Coming home to you two feels like a dream. Your presence and Ken’s hugs make a shitty day really feel like nothing more than a bad dream. Your presence really helped us. It helped me. Thank you.

-I want to be able to be here for you, Si. Not only now, but every time. You are one of the most important people to me, and I would’ve loved to be here since the start.

-I’m sorry I never told you.

-I understand why you did it, though.

The evening passed by, Ken woke up and started to talk to his father about his day, Simon shared the sweet moment with his child and I finished making dinner. We all sat down to eat, we talked and laughed, and by the end, as he cleaned his mouth with a napkin, Ken said in that bubbly voice of his

-Thank you mama.

Simon and I were shocked. He almost choked on the drink on his glass, and I almost dropped the plates I had gathered. Simon was the first to come out of our shock.

-What did you say, buddy?

-Thank you mama.

In his innocence, Ken hadn’t notice the confusion and shock in his father’s voice. I didn’t want the boy to think he did something wrong, so I quickly answered

-You are welcomed, Kenny.

Simon and I both tried to keep our cool. We cleaned up the dishes, tidied up and took Ken to bed. We tucked him in like we always did and then Simon dared to ask the toddler.

-Hey little man, I need to ask you something. Why did you call them mama earlier?

-Because they are mama shaped. They are nice and good and care for me. Like a mama.

I could barely contain the tears building up on the corners of my eyes. The little baby boy I had come to love as my own also considered me as his own. I was speechless. I could only hug him a little tighter and kiss his chubby little cheeks before saying goodnight. After we put the boy down to sleep, Simon and I sat down to talk about what had happened. Before he could even get a world in, I decided to talk.

-If you don’t feel comfortable with Kenny calling me mama, I’ll talk to him about it. I’ll let him know I’m only your friend and everything, It’s okay-

Before I could continue rambling, Simon grabbed my face between his hands.

-Stop, stop. Quit overthinking for a second and listen.

I locked my gaze with those beautiful big brown eyes of his, instantly stopping to listen to him.

-Look… I noticed the tears that built up on your eyes when Ken called you like that. I know you, and I know how much this means to you. And honestly? It means a lot for me too. My son sees you as his mama, and I’d give anything for this beautiful relationship between you two to keep this pureness. In his eyes and in mine, you are the only mama he’s ever known. If you feel comfortable with him calling you that way, I would be so happy…

I couldn’t help myself. I could only interrupt him with a hug, pulling him so close to my body, as if afraid he might change his mind if I let go.

-I’d love to. I want to be here for both of you. You are so important to me; I can’t imagine a life without both of you in it. I want to keep being Kenny’s mama. I want to take care of him, to love him and to love you.

The last few words came out as a surprise to both of us. I hoped he hadn’t heard or that he’d think nothing of it, but as he pulled me away to look into my eyes, I could see the shock on his eyes.

-You mean that? You actually feel like that? I’m not dreaming, am I?

Sheepishly, I nodded. I couldn’t let the words out, but there was no turning back now. I wanted to look up, to see his reaction, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. What if he changed his mind about me being around his son? What if I just fucked up our friendship? What if…? Before my mind could go any further down the rabbit hole, his fingers found my chin, making me look up into his eyes.

-You really love me? Despite having seen the ugly side of me? Despite how hard I was all throughout our teenage years? Despite the fact I made myself unreachable for three years because I was ashamed of not knowing what the hell I was doing? You love me?

His voice carried the disbelief I knew he always held when someone showed him love like this. He thought himself undeserving, and it crushed my soul. I thought to myself, “What the hell, he already knows, might as well show him how serious I am”, before leaning in and kissing his lips. I wanted to leave no doubt on his mind. I wanted him to understand. To my surprise, he pulled me closer, kissing me back as I melted in his embrace. After a couple of seconds, we pulled away from each other to look into the other’s eyes. We didn’t have to say much, guided by the feeling of each other’s arms, lips, smiles. It flowed like natural, it felt correct, and any doubt dissipated between kisses and I love you’s. We just cuddled on the couch, feeling the weight lifting from our shoulders, as we hugged, kissed, talked and laughed.

I was glad he didn’t have to work in the morning, because neither of us wanted to let go…

HI i’m back like after a....year?

IRL consumed me,digested me completely. I don’t know if I’m out yet. But, this just helped me realize that I should stop giving a fuck about what I post on this hellsite ‘cause no one really cares and I should probably stop.

anyway I’m about to rewatch S20E11 “The L Word” where Henrik being traumatised is actually handled right. yay (I remember it being a really good episode, I hope it’s as great as I remember lol - it is a Katie Douglas one, she’s usually great)

Edit 1: Shoutout to Henrik’s outfit in this episode.

Also, him looking at the picture of Fredrik :(

Edit 2: The Lofty and Dom stuff in this episode was very sweet at the time. Too bad I can’t watch any Dofty scenes without knowing what their relationship turned into.

Edit 3: Donna: “Nothing makes someone love you like free cake!” That’s just reminded me of when Sahira first turned up and she brought everyone biscuits or cupcakes or something lmao.

Edit 4: Me writing anything medical in Holby fics: *Ollie voice* “Is that possible, or am I just grasping at straws here??”

Edit 5: This episode is just as much of a standout for James Anderson and Hermione Gulliford as I remember.

(Seriously, it’s so weird to me how you never seem to get characters treating patients who share a name with them.)

Edit 19: Henrik’s whole conspiracy board of newspaper articles and diagrams about the shooting. Ow. It really does serve to show just how ill he was.

Edit 20: OW OW OW. “I am guilty. Guilty of neglect. Guilty of naivety. Fredrik’s method was a message to me, written in the blood of those I love.”

Edit 21: Roxanna saying to Henrik she knew on her first date with David he was her true love. The Hexanna thing truly was a retcon.

Also. “You never had any time for anyone or anything that wasn’t work.” It’s true but she shouldn’t say it.

“I wasn’t very kind to my son.” OWWWW.

Edit 22: I don’t know what the piano music used in this ep is, but it’s gorgeous.

Edit 23: 90% of these Henrik and Roxanna scenes are just the two of them making extremely accurate, deeply personal observations about one another and the other one looking uncomfortable and saying nothing.

Edit 24: THE SCENE WITH OLLIE AND ROX IN THE OPERATING ROOM I LOVE THIS SCENE

Edit 25: The operating room scene was just as incredible as I remembered. Possibly one of my favourite Holby scenes ever. When I think of the dizzying highs Holby could reach during this era, that scene is one of the first to enter my mind.

Edit 26: YIKES early Zav was a dick.

Edit 27: Lmaooo at Essie and Sacha gossiping about John without realising he’s right behind them.

Edit 28: Lofty’s grandma saying she’ll “stick around a little bit longer to see how the two of you [Dom and Lofty] pan out”... you’re going to be very disappointed, buddy.

Edit 29: Oh hey, it’s the Only You scene! Rewatching these early Dom and Lofty moments makes me so sad about what Kate Oates did to them.

Edit 30: Roxanna’s little speech about David. Awww. :’) The “she was in love with Henrik all along and never wanted David” retcon later was so fucking stupid.

Anyway I’m glad to say this episode was just as good, if not better, than I remembered.

SFH Ep. 10 39:25/39:26, Moonjo grabs Jongwoo's hand and *sees* the scalpel in it!!!

Is this where Jongwoo breaks from reality and thinks he killed Moonjo when Moonjo in reality took the scalpel from him? Or did Moonjo see it and let it be/succumb to Jongwoo killing him, because he wants to give Jongwoo even his own life?

[Because it really, to me looks like Moonjo got it away from himself safely. And then Jongwoo falls down and looks up, and Moonjo is //changed//.]

Thoughts?

(Also this is the hand with the teeth bracelet around his wrist).

So... Not sure we're watching the show in the same servers... In my 39:25 timemark, what I get is this:

Here, Moonjo has an arm around Jongwoo's neck, and the other arm securing it in place. Jongwoo reaches for Moonjo's arms with his hands to free himself from Moonjo's grip unsuccessfully. He puts his right hand on Moonjo's hand, bringing the scalpel to Moonjo's line of vision. However, Moonjo is too focused on squeazing the life out of Jongwoo immobilizing him to notice what he is holding.

He does see it a moment later, though:

And there is no doubt he does, because of his reaction to it (his stunned “Uh?” as he stared at the scalpel).

Now, into the theories... Let me start by saying that, everything, from the moment Moonjo entered the 4th floor, to the second Jongwoo hit the ground and lost conscious by his side, is, at the very least... questionable. I want to believe some of it happened (their conversations), but it's more likely that none of it occured as it was shown. The only thing we can trust with distrust is Jongwoo's memories at the end of the episode (but he remembers both hallucination and fact, and they overlap each other... :D isn't it just great???). And, for that reason, it's really hard to pinpoint where exactly are the cracks between reality/delirium (hell, as far as we know, nothing that we saw after it started raining happened the way it was originally presented).

However, since we're already here, let's disregard all I just said for a moment, and work from the perspective 'the struggle was real, and Jongwoo really thought he saw Moonjo dying at the end of it.' Let's not worry about the plot holes that come with Jongwoo's memory for now. I'll just focus on the scene Moonjo dies. I liked that you emphasized how Moonjo changes after Jongwoo falls down. Jongwoo looks up and Moonjo is there, with his neck slashed... but, wait. When did that happen?

Jongwoo never touched Moonjo's neck with the scalpel. When Moonjo shoved Jongwoo, Jongwoo's hand was closer to Moonjo's face than to his neck:

If anything, Moonjo should have had a cut on his cheek, but I don't think it got close enough to his skin to cause even that.

Is it possible, then... That everything that happened after Jongwoo hit the ground didn't happen? Was it... wishful thinking mixed with the aftermath of a concussion? A dream? Did he pass out? Was he conscious but hallucinating?

If Jongwoo thought he was killing Moonjo as he choked himself, as exhibited in his flashbacks, he had to be awake for it, right...?

[Jieun was there to confirm this one... So he was awake. And, wow. Did the police and the paramedics find him in this state? Was it... intentional? Maybe not as Jongwoo's idea, but Moonjo's? He could have tranquilized Jongwoo (quite literally), but he let the paramedics do it. Maybe he was too busy at the time, misplacing evidence, planting his DNA, etc., but Jongwoo could have told them all kinds of things while he was like that... Perhaps Moonjo saw it as an advantage? They wouldn't treat Jongwoo like a criminal if they saw him like a disturbed victim from the start. If the self-defense plead didn't work, mental illness would save him. Anyone could tell he was not on his right mind when he was found; it was definitely written down in their reports as well. That's probably also the reason why Moonjo was so resolute in not letting Ms. Eom kill Jeonghwa (as she implicitly complained about over her last breath). Personally, regarding the scalpel's destiny, I put my faith on Jongwoo's memory. The moment when he drops it to the ground. No one takes it from him, and it was no accident. He just... opens his hand, and releases it. I just like this scenario the best. Had it been caused by shock or... something else.

Allison Ponthier Isn’t Content to Live Life Stuck on "Autopilot"

Singer-songwriter Allison Ponthier begins a new chapter in her latest single, "Autopilot." The Texas-born, Brooklyn-based artist’s latest track, written with Adam Melchor and Ethan Gruska, collaborators on her 2021 debut EP, Faking My Own Death, is a stirring exploration fear and going through the motions of life without actually living.

The track pairs her signature wit and warm, crystalline vocals with an expanding musical palette, building from a gently strummed acoustic guitar to lush, technicolor instrumentation. "'Autopilot' originally started out as a song about my phobia of driving," shares the artist. "I'm 26 years old, and I've had my permit three times, but ultimately the responsibility of driving has always terrified me. While it started out as a song about something silly, it ended up being an exercise to write about my weaknesses. I don't like to tell people how to interpret my songs, but I think 'Autopilot' can take on a double meaning about trying to break through the feeling of going through the motions."

After teaming up on tour and in the studio last year for "I Lied," Ponthier invited Ben Schneider of Lord Huron to join her in the official video for "Autopilot." The music video, directed by Jared Asher Harris, is brimming with retro details, including a gorgeous, pristine, sky blue 1957 Ford Thunderbird. The storyline traces a peculiar love affair from the first meeting, romantic dates, marriage, to a homebound honeymoon that doesn't go according to plan. Finally, viewers watch the singer deal with the aftermath of heartbreak, including lots of crying, cutting up roses, and eventually finding new love in the most unlikely of places.

Ponthier is set to perform her first-ever headline shows at Baby's All Right in New York (June 14) and the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles (June 16). She'll then join Bleachers on their North American tour, which launches May 17 and perform at BottleRock Napa Valley.

The Case File – Mice and Murder Ep 3

The Case of the Curious Clues

Before we start, a quick plea to Grant O’Brien: Please stop finding clues. I can only take notes so fast. You’re killing me Grant. Moving on...

We start off this episode with yet another flashback, this time to the final confrontation of Sly and his supposedly dead arch nemesis Fletcher Cottonbottom at Reichenbunny Falls (...Brennan please). Fletcher was using a local castle as a storage center for munitions but Sly tipped off the cops before they could be moved. They do some repartee back and forth before Fletcher, the madman, handcuffs them together and jumps off the edge. They hit the water but Sly is able to lockpick himself out and escape while Fletcher disappears beneath the waves. 

You know what I got from that story? No body.

Anyway, we jump back to the present where there *is* a body, Squire Badger’s specifically. Everyone in the room who isn’t a PC thinks that this must either be the work of ghosts or Mrs. M who was the only person in the room when it happened (allegedly). 

This is a crucial time for clue gathering and Brennan keeps everyone in initiative for investigative purposes. Now, *so much* stuff happens here that I’m not going to recap every single detail--just the major clues and the things that seem relevant. I’m serious, this is like the volume of info we usually get in the once per season later game lore dump ep but it’s episode THREE.

Daisy tries to find a secret door but critically fails. She clocks Gangie, a fellow criminal, and in the moment Rekha and Katie decide that they prob have worked together in the past even though they are very different kinds of criminals. 

Buck, who is outside listening to what’s going on in the room notices that his ankle knife is missing which is Concerning considering a man was just knifed to death. 

Sly has Lars guard the door (he opens it and Buck is discovered, whoops) and then rolls a NATURAL 20 plus NINE to investigate so Brennan just has to tell him literally everything. RIP to him and me. Anyway, here’s the rundown (along with some of the stuff other ppl got):

Mrs. M’s hands are covered in blood but she couldn’t have done it. Based on her personality for one and for other reasons we’ll get to.

The wound is much messier than it would be if a person stabbed themselves typically.

There is a note in Squire Badger’s handwriting that says “Sylvester Cross I am afraid” No indication of if that was the whole message or if he got interrupted (maybe Buck could figure it out with his handwriting checking skills). Daisy from across the room clocks that Sly’s name is written on the paper but can’t read the rest.

The knife is a hunting knife with a pronghorn handle--an animal not common in England but very common in Texas (and Buck is sweating obv).

There is a slight layer of charcoal type dust on everything on the big resolute desk in the room (which makes sense, ash from the fireplace) but there is parchment type dust on the bust of Barkus Aurelius (OK, that one’s good) on the table and that’s the only place that dust is. Ian later notices that the date on the bust is wrong. 

Speaking of, the desk (which we learn later was put in and taken out of storage once Loan Hall was modernized) is bolted to the ground and a lot of stuff has been thrown off it as if by a powerful force but Sly notices that it’s just the metal stuff like things made of silver or with screws. Stone things like the bust and other non-metal things have stayed put. Plus he smells ozone. This was the work of magnets, not ghosts, he concludes. And, for the record, Grant figured this out himself!

Mrs. M’s eyes are rapidly dilating. She is questioned about what happened and she says that she was told she was fired and would receive a small pension. 

(Not a part of Sly’s clue dump but Buck rolls a 24 with disadvantage to persuade everyone he didn’t do it but then 2 nat 1s in a row to see if Harding--who said he was standing outside the door--is suspect. Buck thinks he’s at most a stooge but he did roll a nat 1 so who knows?)

Anyway, back to Mrs. M. Gangie fully believes Mrs. M is innocent and scared. She doesn’t quite remember what happened for a couple of seconds in there and it’s clear this is not the first time she’s had missing time. Sly calls Longfoot (the bunny photographer) over to take a picture of Mrs. M which everyone is a little appalled at until they realize he’s making a point. When the flash goes off, she bugs out like she did in episode 1 and forgets that the picture was ever taken. Sly then has Dr. Magpie list the symptoms of epilepsy. It seems that Mrs. M had an episode triggered by the flash she mentioned seeing and then lost time. It’s possible that what she thought she saw after that she didn’t actually see.

[While Sly is monologuing this Rekha texts Brennan and gets a 17 to swipe the “I am afraid” note. Sly doesn’t notice.]

So if it wasn’t her, then who was it? There’s only one door into the study and anyone who walked in would have to have walked past Mr. Harding, Shellcrest, Calliope, and Tabitha (who is having a marvelous time being in the midst of so much drama). Ah, but who said there was only one door? Sly has Harding pull a sconce and a SECRET DOOR OPENS! Woo! Finally! It’s a classic bookshelf one that opens into the hallway and there is some extremely fine crushed glass under the door. Hmm.

Sly clocks that there is something under the desk but we don’t know what it is because Brennan texts it to him and it’s redacted. There are actually a couple of redacted texts that go around this ep so we are def missing information. 

OK, that’s more or less everything. 

Sly notices that the page is missing and Grant gasps while Rekha does an excellent job of pretending like she doesn’t even remember what paper is being talked about. Constance asks if it’s possible that Mrs. M totally made up the memory because of her epilepsy and between Dr. Magpie and Sly they determine that that’s uncommon but possible. Dr. Magpie says that everyone should leave so he and Sly can examine the body and Sly says that someone should watch Gangie at all times. 

At this point, Harding and Gilfoyle (the butler) say they should establish where everyone was at the time of the murder. A lot of the staff and guests have solid alibis cause they were in big groups/cleaning up together. But the PCs were off alone (or with each other) and had reasons to want to guy dead so they’re prime suspects. Sly even admits that he’s one too. Also everyone dogpiles Ian because Raph makes it so fun. 

Harding mentions the letter that was given to Buck (the one selling his shares in BB and giving voting writes to his rival Josiah) and asks him to read it. Buck reads it and gives a streamlined version of the truth, saying everything except for the part with the proxy vote. With a 26 he is able to allay everyone’s suspicions for now, but now he’s purposefully hidden the truth in a way that can be readily called out if anyone sees the letter or the contract which he resolves to find. 

Buster distracts the group so Daisy can “check the body for a pulse” aka: check the body for the contract. She doesn’t find a it but does find a key attached to a piece of red silk--something that would be weird for him to be carrying around instead of his valet. She figures this must open whatever locked drawer the contract is in and swipes it but Sly clocks her stealing it (his perception ties her sleathiness but an earlier Bless from Ian tips him over the edge--poetic).  

Calliope says that everyone is kinds suspect, including Sly, but *someone* has to solve this and Sly’s their best bet so everyone should just stay put and they can guard the exits. The butler says that, besides the front door, there are some towers that poke up above ground and a servant's exit/entrance by the elevator in the kitchen wing but they can lock down both and have someone guard the front doors. 

The butler is like, lmao yeah Sly I know you didn’t do it and I’m not gonna stand guard here but you know, everyone is keeping an eye on y’all. And then he leaves the PCs, Mrs. M, Constance, and Dr. Magpie in the room with the body. 

Lars is about to go watch the kitchen staff but, before he goes, Sly says to him that he saw Cottonbottom and is obviously quite scared. Gangie, who used to work for the guy, overhears and asks what’s going on. Sly assumes Gangie is playing coy but rolls high enough to know that he isn’t. He saw a starkly white Cottonbottom and one of his known conspirators doesn’t know he’s back? Perhaps it was a ghost after all. 

Case Notes

My 2 fave bits of this episode were “bad to bad bad bad” (and the further riffing) and Daisy throwing increasingly bigger books at Sly.

Even with a Nat 1, Sly gets a 16 on Investigation. Wild. 

I don’t think Rekha got enough props for her “Cross examination” line so I’m mentioning it here.

Brennan said the ozone question was still open--but I assumed it was like the electricity smell from an electromagnet. That would make sense, right? Maybe he meant they hadn’t found the source of it specifically yet?

Brennan says Buck’s knife is a pronghorn knife. I assume they’re made from the animal’s horns? Even if they’re the kind that fall off every season, is that weird? Or is it just like human hair wigs? Also, does this world have leather?

I love that the dice keep supporting the narrative that Daisy simply cannot get her shit together when she’s with Sly because he distracts her too much. Delicious. Their whole relationship is delicious. 

OK, I am a tiny bit suspicious of Calliope. It’s partially the way she took control of the situation near the end and partially the fact that she doesn’t seem like the kind of person who would be involved in this which would make her heel turn delicious. No hard evidence and obv she couldn’t be the person who actually stabbed a guy but idk. Just spitballing. I’m very curious about whether we’ve met everyone we’re going to meet more or less or if there are still outside people/hidden inside people. Because, in real life, a murderer could be literally anyone but in a story, you can’t just introduce a new villain all of a sudden at the end. Bad storytelling. Weak payoff. We’ll see how things start to pan out.

Day two of the Sanctuary Appreciation Week. Favourite relationship.

I also love (as I pointed out yesterday with my spamming of Helen) the (found) family thing. Good old Sanctuhana - ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. Day five in the Big Brother household of the Sanctuary Appreciation Week. Today is favourite location.

My favourite is the Old City Sanctuary. It's the right mix of homey and science lab-y and broken down cathedral-y. XD They even have a cloister! And I swear a sanctuary can be a TARDIS when plot dictates. I would not be surprised to find all the things we fic writers have written about the place actually being there.

Last year, a user on Twitter posted the floor plan to the Old City Sanctuary, lemme see if I can find it again.

Day three of the Sanctuary Appreciation Week got me thinking about: Favourite Season/Story Arc. There's two answers to this.

My favourite season is season three, not just because it's the season that brought me back to the fandom like five years later, or because of this cardigan:

(I *will* knit my own one, one day) but because it is just such a comfort blanket for me. So much happens but at the same time there's also chances for the show to sit and breathe.

But also because it is the season that brought me back to the fold and I love the dvds I got signed by Amanda at ATX.

But my favourite arc isn't in one season, it bridges two. I am, of course, talking about Nikola's devamping and subsequent revamping.

(Sorry, random aside. There were scorpions in the Tesla ep of Doctor Who?

Below the cut you’ll find a translation of some of the TotNT Q&A highlights from Lee Dong Wook’s recent VLIVE, wherein the actor answers live questions from fans and shares some fun behind the scenes stories and insights. 

Note: these are only excerpts I’ve selected out (primarily from the third segment) of the full 2hr VLIVE. You can find a full transcript of the second segment here.

At the start, LDW wrote a few things on a white board because he was being asked them so much. Those are:

Tale of the Nine Tailed Ep 13 & 14 will both be broadcast the following week (filming for the drama has wrapped) [on November 5th, after filming for nearly 7 months]

He really does like mint chocolate

He has no intention of running his own SNS (social media) 

[In a later addition] He doesn’t know his MBTI type and isn’t interested in finding out

The VLIVE proceeded in three main sections. 1) Free talk 2) VS Game (prepared for him by his promotional team), and 3) TotNT Q&A. Below are some things I thought were of note, mostly from the third section, complete with time stamps in case you want to go see where he talks about them but also because academia has conditioned me to always be meticulous about citing my sources. ;) 

Q: Do you watch Tale of the Nine Tailed on live broadcast? [0:17:16~0:17:46]

I think I watched live...about half the time. I saw about half of the episodes live, and for the other half I couldn’t watch because we were filming, so I either watched them on re-watch [online] or when they re-broadcast them. 

Since it wasn’t entirely pre-produced, we were still filming as it was being broadcast, so there were occasions when I couldn’t watch the broadcast live. 

[Note: The reason people in Korea are concerned with the original live broadcast (bonbang) is because this is how the viewership ratings are measured.]

Q: Are you close with Kim Beom-nim in reality? [0:30:45~0:31:03]

(Laughing) Yes, we are close in real life haha. That was a very cute question. We’re extremely close. We worked out together yesterday too. (Laughing) That was a cute question. 

[Note: Lee Dong Wook and Kim Beom are represented by the same talent agency so they’re also label mates]

Q: Are there any ad lib lines that come to mind? [1:17:30~1:18:30]

Everyone, to be perfectly honest, I did so many ad libs I don’t even remember them all. I think I made an ad lib in nearly...at least once in every two scenes? Was it more than that? But thankfully the director and writer gave me a lot of opportunities to do as I pleased. Most likely if you were watching and found yourself thinking, ‘oh, that seems like an ad lib?’ those were all ad libs. And there were actually many more than that even. Yes. I did so many I can’t remember. 

[Note: You can find a full round-up of ad libs mentioned throughout the VLIVE that I did here. I’m not going to repeat them in this post since it’s going to be long enough already ;) ]

Q: What line left the deepest impression on you? [1:18:36~1:19:35]

This is also...for our drama, the writer really did a wonderful job writing the dialogue and there are many iconic lines, right? So to be honest it’s difficult to just pick one...yes. But, in any case, it would probably have to be that line, wouldn’t it? The ending of episodes 1, 4 and 9. Ji Ah’s line, ‘I waited for you.’ And then again at the end of episode 4, my line, ‘I also waited for you.’ And then at the end of episode 9 Ji Ah says, ‘I waited for you’ with a different meaning. The mirroring of the lines in these ending scenes, I believe it will have stayed with you, and it stayed with me too. 

[Reading the live chat] Yes, ‘I have never once missed my target.’ Yes, that line was also really good. It was a line that helped to wake something in Rang-ie’s heart, so... 

Q: Was it hard acting before the CG effects were added in? [1:20:39~1:23:19]

Ah, is that so? That was also released as a clip, as a video [available here]. They compared the CG before and after...It’s not easy. Yes. Especially in cases like the Knife Mountain Hell and the Snow Mountain Hell, when you film in front of a blue screen, you need to make a lot of calculations. And, you sort of...need to be aware of the details. Right now, what cut you’re filming, what cut will come after that cut, and...for that, seeing as how everything around you is blue, you tend to lose your sense of direction a bit? You also have to take that into account. So, actually to film all the Knife Mountain Hell and the Snow Mountain Hell scenes, added together, I spent three days and two nights in front of a blue screen...so it was a bit hard. After being in front of nothing but a blue screen for nearly three days straight...I started to lose my sense of time and space. Where I am now, which direction I’m going in, whether where I’m currently standing is facing forward or backward, even what time it is currently, or how much time has passed, these sort of...the most basic senses that are part of being human, become duller and duller. That was somewhat hard. But thanks to our director, our CG director, and our stunt director helping me a lot, and the same goes for our film crew, yes, so, that was how we filmed. 

Ah, and, when filming in front of a blue screen, especially in cases like the Knife Mountain Hell, there are knives flying at me right? So I get asked a lot if that isn’t embarrassing, but to be honest when I’m filming I don’t have the space to even be concerned with those sorts of things. It’s not as if, like, because I moved in such a way I feel humiliated or because I did this I feel embarrassed. I don’t even have the space to be concerned with those things. I just think about the fact that the CG team, the stunt team, the camera team, and me, I have to act well so that these four teams can work well in concert...yes. Because to the extent that my acting comes across as realistic, it should be better once the CG is added. Because it will be easier for the people filming [that way], so I always film while keeping those things in mind. 

Q: Do the colors of your thread rings have to do with the drama’s plot? [1:26:42~1:27:00]

[Big pause] Hm~.....the color doesn’t. 

Q: Between Lee Rang and Imoogi, who did you have the best synergy with for the action sequences? [1:27:26~1:28:11]

For me, it was easiest when I worked with the stunt team (laughs). When I do action sequences with other actors...I’m uneasy. Well, the other party might also be uneasy but I am also uneasy, because if we happen to strike each other for real, we’ll get hurt. So I always film with a very cautious mindset, but when I do action sequences with the stunt team, in any case, because they are professionals, even if I get the motions slightly wrong or I step forward too much, they are able to adjust to match me. So my heart is most at ease when I do action sequences with the stunt team. Because they are able to respond to me well. 

Q: Do you get startled for real when Taluipa screams at you while you’re acting? [1:28:46~1:28:59]

No. In reality it doesn’t startle me that much. Jeong Nan-Noona (Actress Kim Jeong Nan) is also very close with me. We’ve been in a number of productions together, so we enjoyed ourselves. 

Q: A behind the scenes story from the promotional teasers with Jo Bo Ah? [1:29:17~1:30:02] 

Ah~, this is a bit of a departure from talking about the drama itself. I was just talking with Ji Ah, with Bo Ah-ssi, and we ended up talking about how it might be if we tried filming something funny just by ourselves to release before the broadcast...and so, I was the one who provided the idea, at the beginning. If you look, it’s written there, right? Planning: Jo Bo Ah, Directing: Lee Dong Wook hehe. Yes, we just made them like that. At the very beginning, Jo Bo Ah-ssi was the one who proposed making them, so the planning is Jo Bo Ah, and then I was the one who supplied ideas of ‘let’s do this like this,’ so the directing is Lee Dong Wook. Yes.

Q: Who had the most NG (no good) takes while filming? [1:30:59~1:31:14]

I have the most NGs. I think in any case, I have the most...I joke around a lot, and I make a lot of ad libs, and I also had a lot of scenes, so I had the most NGs. 

Q: Re: Lee Yeon’s Hair [1:33:38~1:34:34]

Yes, I like it. Ah, this could actually be a bit of a ‘behind the scenes.’ It was actually my idea to make Lee Yeon’s hair red-brown. It wasn’t the original character setting. I thought that, since he’s a Korean red fox, how would it be to make his hair a bit closer to that color, and also that it would be nice to give him a bit more of an otherworldly image. So I consulted with the director of our salon and the salon director said that that would be good. So I ended up with red-brown hair, and it just worked naturally that the (mountain god) wig be a mixture of red-brown and silver. Ah that isn’t white hair, it’s actually silver. It’s much closer to silver hair, not white hair. So that’s how I came to have a combination of red and silver long hair. Yes. 

Q: What was your reaction when you first met the agwi while filming the Forest of the Starved sequence? [1:36:27~1:37:50]

That, rather than thinking they were scary, I mostly kept thinking about what a hard time they must be having. The Forest of the Starved sequence, adding together every time the Forest of the Starved shows up from beginning to end, we filmed for nearly a week straight. Six days? For about six days to a week. For most of them, they are actually members of our stunt team in stage makeup. There were also many people who appeared just in those roles, but those folks all had a really hard time. That makeup takes a long time to put on and a long time to take off, and seeing as it’s all special effects makeup it’s hard on your skin in a number of ways, and because it was summer it was really hot and humid, and because we were in the forest it was just...well, in any case there were truly a lot of error conditions, so while me and Kim Beom-ssi also had a hard time, in truth it was those people who had it the hardest. Those who played the agwi really worked very hard. Thank you very much to those people. For me and Kim Beom-ssi, at least our clothes and shoes were, at least we were dressed comfortably while we filmed, but those people had to wear torn hanbok and straw shoes while running, so in truth those people are the protagonists of the Forest of the Starved. They really worked the hardest of all of us.

[Note 1: ‘those people’ sounds dismissive in English but LDW is using the respective term ‘bun’ so he’s actually being quite deferential here.

Note 2: Kim Beom has said elsewhere that he filmed this sequence for 3 weeks so either LDW is just talking about his own scenes or possibly Kim Beom just remembered it as being longer than it was haha]

Q: When you played baduk with Lee Rang, did you know what you were doing or were you just placing pieces at random? [1:39:34~1:40:07]

For that, I knew what I was doing. For that baduk game, someone who knows [how to play], if they see that board just once they will know. We used a high caliber game by extremely famous baduk players and transferred the placement of the pieces exactly, and then Rang-ie and I took turns placing piece by piece like this, right? For that, we each, Rang-ie and I each memorized our moves, so we were playing an actual game of baduk. The reason being that, these sort of things are the details, and for those, well, you shouldn’t lie, right?

Q: Are there any details you payed attention to when you were acting as Lee Rang transformed (into Lee Yeon)? [1:44:27~1:45:47] 

For episode 11... for episode 11, at that time, conversely, I didn’t pay much attention to it. At that time, the reason being, fooling the viewers was a critical part of that sequence, of that episode, so conversely, if I had acted like Lee Rang, and Lee Rang had acted like me, like Lee Yeon, doing it like that seemed like it would have been too obvious, so we just, to the greatest extent possible, we each respectively acted Lee Yeon as had been, and Lee Rang as had been. 

But then, when Lee Rang transforms into Lee Yeon and goes to see Taluipa, at that time I tried more to act like Lee Rang. In fact, before we started filming, I asked Rang-ie, I asked Beom-ssi to read through the lines once. I asked him, ‘If it was you, how do you think you would do this?’ So Beom-ssi read it for me and I matched that. So this was another place that I manipulated the details while I was acting. When I (Rang) went to see Taluipa, when he was transformed, there was originally another version where I (Rang) looked around even more and was even more awkward. But rather than that, that was too blatantly obvious, so it was broadcast with the more toned-down version. 

Q: Did you really have a video call with Ji Ah? [1:46:18~1:46:36]

No, we each shot our scenes on different days. I shot mine first, and then Ji Ah-ssi, Bo Ah-ssi, shot hers about two or three days later. We each shot separately on different days.  

Q: A behind the scenes story from the sound booth recording? [1:48:07~1:48:47]

The sound booth recording is just the sound booth recording (laughs). Ah, that, the sound booth recording for the hell scene? Ah, that was exhausting. For that, honestly if it wasn’t for the ‘making’ (behind the scenes video) you probably wouldn’t have known about it. To that extent, I poured as much energy into it as when I had originally acted it out all over again as I was recording it, so I really ended up feeling like I’d gone to that hell and back twice. Which is what I said in the ‘making’...And that was caught on video by our miss Bo Ah, and that ended up being released as part of the behind the scenes.

Q: Which of the mountain god outfits do you like the most? [1:50:47~1:51:11]

That...when I went to save young Rang-ie, the outfit I wore the first time I appeared, the black one, yes. In the Forest of the Starved, when I went to save young Rang-ie, the mountain god clothing I wore when we first met, I personally really liked it.

It was uncomfortable. It...dragged a lot, and sort of...yes. It gives you a headache. Once you’ve had it affixed for about 6 hours, your scalp gets tighter and tighter, and it hurts your head. So the wig, it also takes a long time to put on and take off. To be honest, the mountain god scenes, to everyone watching they may be very beautiful...but they were quite tiring. That goes for the wig, but also for the hanbok. It’s very uncomfortable to move about in and restrictive in a number of ways. Especially, seeing as how I always got a headache, it was a bit hard.

My first scene was...the scene where Soo Oh and I meet at the park and talk. That was the first scene that I shot. When the little girl lost her balloon and I caught it and returned it to her. Soo Oh said, ‘Ajusshi, are you an alien?’ and I said, ‘No, a gumiho.’ That scene was the first scene of Tale of the Nine Tailed that was shot and it was my first scene that I shot.

Run episode 131 starts off with Tae and Jimin cutely hitting Jk for unknown reasons. Once the camera focuses on them, you can see Jimin swinging at him, but instead, Jk was straight-on looking at Tae. Going by Tae’s swaying arm, it’s safe to say he’d just delivered a “hit”.

When Yoonmin are on the raft, Tae takes the opportunity to close the gap between himself and Jk, briefly having their arms touch without any space between them, before creating a small distance.

Moving on, BTS have to debate about various topics but with the added inconvenience of being splashed with water every time they carry out a forbidden action or say certain words. For each round, these prohibitions change, and they are supposed to identify the secret triggers to have control of the attacks and prevent them. Jungkook is underneath the biggest waterfall when they realize one of the triggers is “hitting the table”. Joon proclaims it’s the perfect time for revenge, if anyone desires to get back at Jk - something members take full advantage of whenever they rotate positions, no matter who’s the victim inside the glass box.

Jin takes his word and begins to slap the table one time after another, completely exultant. When the burst of attacks seem to subside, Tae adds a subtle hit, making this Jk’s 5th consecutive and targeted shower in under a minute.

When it’s Tae’s turn to be moderator, Jk figures out the forbidden action is touching the goggles. He is mischievous in continuing to touch them, laughing in amusement as the members get wet. Tae doesn’t realize what the forbidden action is and stares up at the water disposal in anticipation, though nothing happens.

Jk notices Tae’s staring contest and, being ornery, touches his goggles while laughing widely and happily.

After touching his goggles, he waits to watch the water dump on Tae, still smiling and laughing happily at his prankish behavior.

Green Latern: The animated series (GLTAS) review

Introduction

Green Latern The animated series (also known as GLTAS) is a computer animated series that ran from November 11, 2011 to  March 16, 2013, ending with a total number of 26 episodes. It was produced by Bruce Timm and Giancarlo Volpe, the latter known for working as animation director in shows like ¨Avatar: The last airbender¨ and ¨Star wars: The clone wars¨.

GLTAS is a superhero action-adventure series, with heavily focus on sci-fi elements since most of the story takes place in space. It´s based of Hal Jordan-Green Latern comics. 

Plot

The series focus on the adventures of Hal Jordan and Kilowog, who are Green Laterns: Their job is to protect and maintain order in the galaxy while following the instructions of their leaders, The Guardians of Oa.

GLTAS´ narrative structure follows an story arc, this means there is continuity and almost every episode contributes something to the plot and the characters. Some examples of series with this type of narrative are: Avatar: The last airbender and Young justice.

The plot is divided in two main story arcs: The first half (Ep 1 to Ep 13) is about the war against the Red Laterns and the second half (Ep 14 to Ep 26)  is about the Manhunters. 

Animation

The type of animation of GTLAS uses is CGI (computer 3D animation). The overall animation of the series it´s pretty decent overall, it may look a bit outdated for present day animation but that doesn´t mean is horrible or makes the show unwatchable. 

The character design it´s simple yet good for CGI, it gives the series a distinct comic style and tries not to be hyperrealistic like some other animation series. 

The fights and scenery are the best part of the animation of GTLAS, the action sequences rarely felt repetitive and some of the were pretty creative. The action remind me of Dragon ball z battles, they are usually fast paced and very epic in scale. 

As for the scenery, the planets have unique design and each one feels different from the other. Some have beautiful landscapes.

Sound design

There isn´t much to say about the sound and soundtrack of the series, i think it´s okay. it serves its purpose correctly.

However, one thing i really liked was the voice acting. Most of the characters have good choice of voice actors. They fit well with the characters and they rarely sounded awkward or off putting.

Some of my favourites are:  Razer (Jason Spisak) , Hal Jordan (Josh Keaton), Carol Ferris (Jennifer Hale).

Story and characters

When it comes to writing, i think its the best part of the GTLAS and what makes the series so memorable:

The series has a very interesting story that is complex yet easy to understand. Almost every episode adds something to the main plot or develops the characters, so there are rarely episodes that aren´t worth of watching since skipping one means not having context that is important for other episdodes. Even episodes that may be consider ¨filler¨ later become important for the narrative. 

The episodes that are usually more filler-ish serve to develop relationships and help the series from becoming too dramatic.

GLTAS explores themes that are quite rare in Western animation: War, tragedy, loss, trauma, complex relationships, gray morality, what means to be a hero..

Another good aspect is the characters: Most of them are really well defined, they have their own complexities and arcs. Many of them are more complex than your average characters in Western animation. They rarely felt like stereotypes or predictable and more like actual people.

They also don´t fall in your classic ¨good¨ vs ¨evil¨ mentality that many cartoons usually have. Many of them do very morally questionable things, which allows them to be more compelling and interesting.

A good example of this is Razer ,without giving too much spoilers away, Razer starts as a Red Latern who think is bringing peace to the galaxy by helping the Red Latern cause. After realising how the Red laterns are taking away the lives innocents people he decides to join Hal and Kilowog to help with stopping the war. (This is at the very start of the series).

Some antagonists have their own reason to be evil and it´s explained why they became ¨bad guys¨, sometimes they even make good points about why the The Guardians of Oa  and the green laterns aren´t as good and pure as they pretend to be.

Hal Jordan, while not having big arc in comparison to other characters, is a very entertaining protagonist. He´s quite unique in the sense that he´s capable of doing anything to do the right thing, even if that means constanly disobeying orders from his superiors and getting into trouble. He doesn´t rebel just for the sake of not to following orders, he does it because he has a really great sense of justice and wants to help others.

Conclusion

I think Green Latern the animated series is show that aged well not for its animation but due to its writing quality and strong story arcs. It´s a show that takes more risks than other action western animations series and its a pity it got cancelled so soon despite being a very well written show.

Its cancellation was related to the lack of marketing and selling of toyline, which is a quite common reason for why so  many action-adventure animated series get cancelled. 

As Josh Keaton (Hal Jordan voice actor) explained in a old IGN interview:  ¨So it’s unfortunate. It wasn’t because the fans didn’t like it. It wasn’t because of the ratings. It really, at that point, came down to the merchandise, and we had a lot to overcome from the performance of the film and that’s where it was.”  

GTLAS is another example of a good series getting ruined by the network for ¨not selling toys¨ and not letting the writers continue their story. I think is a show that deserves at least one or two seasons more since it is a memorable show overall.

Fic I had the most difficulty with

Memory Loss. It sat in my ask box for fucking ever and every time I stared at it, I literally could not think of a fucking idea. Like, I got nothing. And that normally never happens. Usually the minute I look at a prompt, dialogue or a scene automatically pops into my head but this damn prompt gave me nothing. So I stared at it for I don't even know how long before I finally got something to write.

Easiest Fic to Write

Anything from my 恨君不似江楼月 | Killer and Healer Mafia series. Anything mafia/crime/gang related it's super easy for me to write. I have no idea why.

Most Fun to Write Fic

I have fun writing all my fics but I'd say my top fics are 'Til You Tear Me Apart and Blood In, Blood Out. These were the most fun to write because the ideas, dialogue, and scenes just flowed. I always enjoy fics that just flow without any breaks or stops

Most Emotional Fic

It's a tie between It All Started With a Hug, Please Don't Take My Sunshine Away, and I'm Not That Girl. It All Started With a Hug was written after ep. 26 and that ep. was super emotional and my heart was breaking for Jiang Yuelou. Please Don't Take My Sunshine Away was written after the series was over and I was broken and having to remember/watch the ending again to get the emotions for it was just...it was hard. I'm Not That Girl was from Chu Ran's point of view and it was kind of emotional to see Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi and their relationship through her eyes.

Fic that took me the longest to write

Uh...most fics don't take me that long...I think the one that's taking the longest right now is S.C.I. 谜案集 and that's just because I'm a dumbass who keeps forget to update even though I've already fucking written the whole damn thing.

Fic that took me the least time to write

Uh...most of my fics don't actually take me that long to write. Unless I'm being lazy or a fic isn't cooperating with me, the longest it takes me to write is...2-3 days at most? But I think the fic that was maybe the shortest (which was only a couple of hours) was Breathe With Me

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate how positive you've been about the SPN finale. You're probably the ONLY person I follow who has not been making fun of it. I confess I became super disenchanted with the show a long time ago, and definitely fell into the "mocking the ending" hole because of all the frustrations I'd had with it over the years. THAT BEING SAID I'm really glad that there are fans like you who really liked the ending. Thanks for helping me remember why I loved the show

The finale had a lot of emotions. and I think I get why people are upset about some of the things. 

It’s hard to watch Dean die so unceremoniously, impaled on rebar (which - I don’t know why people are making tetanus and rusty nail jokes. rebar is what they build bridges and building foundations on, that shit isn’t moving and will and does impale people). But I think an extreme emotional response to that, with frustration and anger, is totally warranted. Except to me, that’s the whole point? It’s frustrating and upsetting to be human. It’s frustrating and tragic that people die in such inglorious and messy ways. That our mortality is so present. And Dean wanted to be human, to exist outside of god’s story, to write his own narrative. And he got that, messy as is it. He got the ending he always knew he would (and wanted), dying while saving others (children, specifically). And got the ending he always wanted for Sam, with his brother having a long life and a family.

Maybe it helps that before watching the last 5 episodes, I most recently watched 1x12 Faith, where Dean is heading toward his first death and gets saved by someone else dying. And what’s always struck me about that episode is how inglorious his death would have been there as well. He was saving children and got electrocuted on a routine hunt. If it weren’t for magic, Dean would be dead at 26 in a parallel way to how he actually finally died at 41.

And I can get people being disappointed we didn’t see Cas. Tbh I am too, because I do like his character, even if his solo storylines don’t tend to excite me. 

But I’m pretty sure that without covid, Dean’s pyre would have been surrounded by all the surviving hunters and friends they’ve made along the way (alt universe hunters, Garth’s family, Jodi and Donna and the girls, etc), whereas in heaven he would have been greeted by not just Bobby but the rest of the friends and family he’d lost along the way (parents, Ellen and Jo, others), including Cas. And then he’d have driven off on his own only after that welcome. And the message would have been that each of them were supported, in both death (for Dean) and life (for Sam) by others until they could return to one another.

Alas, we never got that, which made it all feel even more tragic because Sam seemed so goddamn alone and I was gutted by that. 

But I also really liked Cas’s ending too?

Because Cas was explicitly stated to be in heaven, to be rebuilding it to be better alongside his son. And that parallels the Season 5 Swan Song finale ending but in a more uplifting way? Because in Swan Song, heaven was in disarray and he left earth to go try and help fix that shit, facing an uphill battle to do so. And in Season 15 Carry On, heaven was in disarray and he was plucked from the Empty by his son to help fix that, facing an easy path forward because he’s doing it with family. 

Also -- this completes his story. Cas is restoring the order he’s always wanted/needed to restore, pretty much since the start of his narrative (from season 4, when he first has doubts and rebelled, to season 6-7 when he wages war and tries to become god, to trying to fix it again and getting played by Metatron to staying out of it to being brought back into it all, to taking on Lucifer to beyond). If you zoom out, his full arc involves destroying/dismantling all that is wrong about heaven and the angels, then ultimately helping rebuild it right, now with Jack (God) finally at his side. 

Cas did it -- the thing he set out to do in Season 5: he found (a loving) God.

(As an aside I’ve seen a lot of memes about how Cas went to superhell but the Impala went to heaven, and I get the joke but I think a lot of people who don’t watch the show now think Cas really stayed in the Empty when he was legit in heaven even before Dean was, probably from the second Jack disappeared in ep 19.)

But all that being said, my strong impression is that a lot of people expressly and vehemently hated the finale specifically due to destiel not having any screentime and not being interpretable as endgame. 

And I know how upsetting it is to get your hopes dashed, but I really wish people could allow themselves to watch the finale outside of that bitterness. Because the show writers and cast and the narrative itself really has not, in the past 6-7 years, so much as hinted it’s ever going to happen. I’ve looked for it, I’ve analyzed it, and I’ve read the shipper analyses out of curiosity. And as a writer and avid fan and person who analyzes media a lot, it wasn’t heading there except that people really really really wanted to convince themselves the story was going to do that.  

I think people built themselves up for something that wasn’t going to happen by feeding off each other and buying into the new-fangled idea that it has to be ‘canon’ to be valid. This made them disengage from or distort what was being said in the text and caused them to ignore or dismiss what was being said by the people creating it. And now they’re mad and “betrayed” because what they read was not actualized, but I fundamentally believe they betrayed each other by creating false expectations and hopes where none were ever promised nor written in.

Not that there’s any issue at all with shipping it! I always give full support to all shipping. Just that it makes me sad that so much of the ire I’m seeing directed toward the finale and show now is about that, about bitterness of false expectations, rather than it being about engaging with the actual storytelling.

All feelings toward the finale are valid (though hate and mean messages being sent to the cast and crew really isn’t), and I get being sad and bitter. But yeah, I really really loved it, and reflecting on it as a writer has just made me love it more and more each time I dig deeper into some aspect of it. Whether you loved it or hated it, it was thought out and considered and carefully plotted and beautifully acted.

And yeah, sure, he stalks all of them and Steve is the last one he gets to, but come on, this show is so transparent (thank you, whoever made it this way. You make my life better every day. I love you.) And like, idk, I, personally, often leave the thing I am truly interested in to be the last one as well. Like, you never start with what worries you most when you don’t want to look suspicious.  And excuse me, what exactly was Red Skull’s “So Iron Man has a heart after all” about? I MEAN, AFTER IT LOOKS LIKE HE KILLS STEVE AND TONY GOES “NOOOOO” AND GETS KINDA ANGRY? Really, I think he is the biggest Stony shipper of the show (after Clint maybe).  And then again, “So you left the rest of your team behind - for me?” (Not that he doesn’t have a point, because the moment Tony sees Cap’s signature? He forgets everything). I tell you, he has an ao3 account, and he posts stony fics every night when MODOK is not around.

And the moment Tony frees Cap-Skull? He just wouldn't stop TALKING because he'd MISSED Steve so much TT 

Then goes part 2 - yep, the one with Steve’s “show-off” face. 

Like, he is biting his lip right there, I don’t take criticism.  He literally offers his body to Tony Stark at the very beginning of the show.

And Steve carrying Tony around in his arms? (Steve carrying Tony is a thing of this show in general - no matter whose hands are free, no matter the fact that Thor and Hulk are stronger than Steve and can move faster than him while carrying heavy stuff, Steve never lets anyone else carry his Tony. Ever.) The tender looks and shiny smiles Steve gives him? The non-stop flirting? I mean, if "Careful. Keep leading like that and we might actually stick together." was not a Captain America pick-up line I don't know what is. 

And the way Steve and Tony are right by each other's side, all the time, they just can't bear being farther than 1 meter's distance from each other. 

Do they have to be so close? There's plenty of space in Tony's house! And given that Tony was the first to turn and walk down it looks like Steve just ran after him to stick close again. 

Episode 6: Super Adaptoid

"There are a few old-fashioned things worth keeping around." (Tony Stark)

This one is just my favourite. I think I've rewatched it at least four times already. This whole trope with Tony's Modern Tech vs Steve's Old Fashioned Gut, learning to actually listen to each other and becoming closer in the end? Love it.   The way they just outright flirt and fool around from the first minute of the show? The way Tony is genuinely worried about Steve being hurt and tries to make him wear armour?

I personally find the whole concept of Tony making a suit for Steve really hot. And yes, it's always Steve. Not Clint or Natasha, who don't even have super strength. Just Steve. Tony wants to protect him so, so badly I want to cry.

I also love how Tony and Steve sit a bit apart from the others on their way home. Like, alright, Tony's piloting the jet (which actually JARVIS can do) but what is Steve doing? Just sitting there by his side and what, watching him? What had he been doing before he asked about the readings? He just likes spending time with Tony so, so much. I tell you, the only reason Cap wasn't sitting on his lap at that moment was that it's a kids' show. 

And Steve “never missing an issue” of Futura? That magazine with Tony on the cover? No, I can respect that he can just have interests of his own, but I like to think that he reads things like that to understand his boyfriend better. Or maybe impress him, who knows. He did impress him in the end :3

Also, why does Cap know how to use Iron Man's gauntlet? It didn't take him long to figure it out. Well, I actually made a fanart on that one, you can find it by “my art” or “stony” tag, I don’t know which one helps, tumblr messes with the tag search all the time.

And of course, the last scene. Oh, that last scene. That peaceful walk down the corridor while Tony's drying his hair. I have so many questions about that one scene. Like, what, were they taking a shower together? Were they going to spar? But then why do they take a shower before that..? But I've already written a post about that one, too.

Episode 13: In Deep

“So are you pals gonna hug now or what?" (Clint Barton)

The stoniest episode of the season. Possibly, of the whole show. Like, the whole episode is entirely stony. Undercover mission while gazing tenderly into each other's eyes? Trying to play bad guys, but keeping flirting and looking after each other's backs all the time? Really, the whole episode is just Steve and Tony being:

The "Tony's not following Steve's plan and Steve's pissed but in the end, they steal each other’s moves" trope? The "I know you're enjoying the role-playing thing"? I mean, how does he know Tony’s enjoying ‘the role-playing thing’? Oh, we all know how.  And Steve telling Tony how amazing he is? @tonysbubblebutt​ has already made a post about this, too. And COME ON, "Step 3 - we enjoy the view"? ENJOY THE VIEW, STEVE? REALLY?

Also, Tony's face when Steve hit him. For a moment, he really thought his babe was gonna hurt him, omg. 

And I like how everything is censored and yet so obvious. Like Tony putting a photo of his butt into the armour, but in pants - because kids'  show. Or Steve saying "billionaire, genius" and then trailing off - because kids' show. And Clint’s "So are you pals gonna HUG now or what?”  I mean, really?

Episode 17: Savages

"You know me, and I know Tony" (Steve Rogers)

The Camping! trope episode. Seriously, I've come up with at least three fanfiction ideas while watching this one. 

The first thing you should understand is that Tony and Steve had had a very good morning sex before the events. Or maybe not that good, because Tony just kept throwing Steve around the room and tried to make him “test drive his next invention”. Maybe he wanted to top and Steve didn’t let him, idk. Anyway, there is no other explanation for them beaming at each other for 20 minutes straight.

Really, the bet should have been about Tony and Steve being unable to go a day without eye-sexing every time one of them starts talking or, idk, moving. But just look at how wide their smiles are all the time - it makes it hard for them to even talk at all. 

But yeah, making bets. There’s actually an amazing fic about that, it’s called Quit While You’re Ahead by  @magicasen​ (ao3 work 3067199), I highly recommend you read it.

And the way they tease each other, oh my gosh. And the mysterious "next *fingers-up-in-a-scissoring-gesture* invention" Tony expects Steve to test drive- 

And both of them running around like two happy puppies when it’s time to set up their camping. 

And yes, Steve knowing Tony all so well and having so much faith in him? I love it. 

Episode 25: Exodus, Episode 26: The Final Showdown

"Sorry to break this romance" (Clint Barton)

These are just worth watching for Tony and Steve holding hands (I stopwatched 6 seconds, and those were only those shown), Steve carrying Tony on his shoulder while holding him under his butt and just Steve's "You're amazing, Tony" and Tony's "No, you are amazing. I am also amazing, but that's because you make me amazing with how amazing you are yourself, Steve." 24/7.

You’re welcome for the gif set (this one,) but I can’t take credit for the translation. I saw multiple conversations on twitter about that scene and how bad the English subs were, so I cribbed the more correct translation from there. 

It makes all the difference in the world, doesn’t it? It also made the scene make sense, since it did not the first time I saw it, lmao.  I think the original subs I saw had her saying “You have to remember for yourself” and him responding “I remember.” UM... YOU REMEMBER BUPKIS, WHAT ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT, SIR!   Instead the, “You can’t be told everything, you have to discover for yourself.” “I’m discovering.” It makes much more sense and, as you said, is a lot more shippy and romantic, as he is basically admitting that he’s figuring out exactly how he came to fall in love with her the first time.  I know the subs are always kind of off and beggars can’t be choosers, but that one really changed the meaning and tenor of the scene. Yikes.

She rightfully gets pissed and then the scenes ends because they both get called to the police station for Ayfer & Aydan. Maybe Selin shows up at the police station leading to Eda witnessing what appears to be a sweet moment between them or Selin chews Serkan out for being with Eda that leads to him saying something negative about Eda. This all could create a new low for Eda which is my Ayfer & Melo are comforting her in a scene from the fragman. She somehow convinces herself to keep going with the game and buys strawberries to keep Serkan away. But of course he really enjoyed the kiss so inspite of his earlier comments he is all about getting closer to Eda now but tells himself it is just to expose her game. I mean who knows what will happen but it is fun to speculate sometimes. Fingers crossed for a well written episode that is full of Edser scenes.

This makes as much sense as anything else I’ve seen trying to put together the pieces of this episode.  Let’s hope what ever crappy thing he says to Eda, isn’t TOO CRAPPY. I don’t know how many more times I can watch him unleash the asshole on her. And especially this time, because she was just sitting there, minding her own business (at his machination) not expecting him when he came up and kissed her.  

Maybe once she realizes he doesn’t remember, and she starts to question him, his excuse is he wanted to see if he felt anything, and he’ll lie and say that he didn’t?  That would be crappy, and a lie, but at least would probably be a lie because he’s freaking out and said in service of protecting himself, and not designed to insult her.

As my friend @echoapothecary pointed out to me, if, after kissing her, he’s going to spend all episode trying to get her to admit she’s not really engaged to Deniz and doesn’t love him, there has to be some sort of payoff for that. And that payoff can’t be Eda admitting her feelings so that leaves... him admitting to her how he’s feeling. If they don’t do something of that nature, then once again I don’t know what the point of this is. 

I’ll cross my fingers for lots of Edser scenes. As long as we get lots of them I can probably deal with very little forward progress.

The promotion for this episode is by far the most lackluster I can remember. I don’t recall two fragman’s being so... tepid. I kinda feel like they know they’re not moving the story along fast enough and so they’re all like, “Oh, hey, we’ll throw in this gratuitous boxing scene and this out-of-nowhere tandem catwalk fashion scene and that will keep them happy!”  

And, you know, that probably would have worked if they hadn’t gone with the Selin/Deniz fake engagement nonsense, but since they did, fans are not so easily distracted and a lot less patient.

As for that spoiler, every “spoiler” coming out right now sounds like speculation and nonsense. Some will turn out to be almost, sort of true just because a broken clock is right twice a day, but none of them are worth fretting over.

Great questions, I honestly have no idea why they would ever think an episode with only 20ish minutes of Edser was even worth the money to produce. And I’m positive a show with Engin/Piril would not be worth the cost of the hard drive to store the footage. 

As far as the filler nature of the last ep, they may have an episode order that we know nothing about, or other reasons to think they need to make this storyline stretch and last. (which I would be fine with if they got rid of Selin and Deniz, they could slow play as all they want, and I would be sated with boxing and fashion show scenes.)

Wakana Recochoku Interview Translation

Wakana is releasing her second album『magic moment』which is filled with many magical moments - How does she feel about he lyrics and what are her thoughts regarding her fans?

Wakana debuted in 2008 as a member of 「Kalafina」. Wishing to start a proper career as singer, she made her solo debut in 2019. On February 26 her 2nd album 『magic moment』 will be released. In commemoration of this special collaboration we have done an interview with Wakana where she talks about her determination to make unique artist goods, her thoughts regarding the album production/lyrics and how she feels about her fans.

――Out of the 11 songs of your 2nd album『magic moment』you wrote 7 yourself, that’s quite a lot.

Yes, that’s true. Back in 2018 I wrote my first lyrics, ever since then I have had the chance to do many lives and work on lots of songs. During my solo activities I have had the chance and time to really get to know myself. I started to think about what kind of singer I wanted to be and what kind of singer I was able to be. I also began wondering about what I wanted to convey through my lyrics.

――What answers did you come up with?

Before coming up with concrete answers I first had to be completely at peace with myself. I had my own selfish wishes of who and what I wanted to be but there were also things I knew I had to do. Despite my personal desires it was very important to me to make everyone happy.

――You became aware of the things that were most important to you.

Yes. Also, my singing changed a lot. Truth is, after finishing my spring tour in 2019, I wanted to increase my voice variations so I changed my singing style. While doing all sorts of research I had many moments where I discovered different styles. The results of my changed singing voice are very prominent in this album, this made me think about all the things I could do next to become even better. Right now I am focusing on how to bring out the best in my voice and how to make best use of it.

――So we can assume that because of that there will be a wide variety of songs on your new album?

There is music that I really wanted to do, lots of up-tempo tracks that will get everyone excited at live performances. When I decided on what kind of songs to include in the album, I definitely wanted to have as many up-tempo songs as possible, there was also an increasing number of songs that made me want to improve my singing style. By singing these songs I felt like I finally came into my own as a solo artist. As a member of Kalafina I only ever sang the soprano parts for 10 years but now I am properly taking charge of all ranges.

――The period between the release of your first album and your 2nd one was a very special time for you, wasn’t it?

Yes, it was. In this one year since my solo debut I have wanted to challenge myself. I am very curious about what the future holds in store for me.

―― That’s great. Are there any lyrics that you couldn’t have written before, something you feel you are only able to convey right now?

The lyrics of track 10 『Happy Hello Day』. I wrote them thinking, “if there is a ‘birthday song’ celebrating the birth of a person, why not write a song celebrating the day you met a special person?” I am always sad at the end of a live performance when all I can say is “thank you”. There is so much I would like to convey to my audience, I constantly think about what to say. I finally decided it would be best and a lot of fun to put those feelings into my lyrics.

―― I am sure the fans will be happy.

I would be happy if they felt that way. Attending lives is quite troublesome for many people, sometimes you will have to ask for leave at work, you will have to find someone who can watch over your children while you are gone or you generally have to make some sacrifices to be able to go. I want you to think, “I gave my best and worked hard so I was able to have this day for myself”. This way it’s also most enjoyable for me. I want to share that feeling with everyone, this song is about “putting all these moments together with the help of music and making them one”. I feel like only now I have reached a point where I am able to write lyrics like that. Up until now I have had these feelings inside me but I never got a chance to put them into words, I just wasn’t able to do it. But now as a solo artist I can convey my personal thoughts through my lyrics so I decided to just be open and honest about my feelings.

―― The perks of being an artist!

That’s true. I am deeply moved by all kinds of songs from all kinds of artists and I definitely do have expectations and things I wish for when it comes to those songs. I am sure my fans feel the same way about my music, they want certain things from my songs. That is the reason why I want to convey all of my feelings through my lyrics.

―― Please tell us a little about the title song 『magic moment』!

When I first heard the song composed by SIRA-san I thought it sounded absolutely marvelous, truly fantastic. The rhythm changes during the chorus so I thought it would be difficult to sing. But once you are immersed in the atmosphere, it doesn’t feel difficult at all. For me listening to this song felt like floating in the air, like swimming among clouds. In that very moment when I listened to the sample I knew that I wanted to sing the song and write lyrics for it so I chose it.

―― This time you not only have different composers but also lots of different arrangers. Does this also correlate with your wish to extend your range?

Definitely! I wanted to get a feel for all kinds of genres. “I want to sing this”, “I need more songs like this for my lives” There were so many songs of that type that I ended up with a wide variety on my album *laughs* Speaking of which, one of the songs 『 揺れる春 /Yureru Haru』- composed and arranged by Sakurai Miki-san - really encapsulates my feelings. It’s like the melody is already carrying my words and thoughts along. It feels very natural for me to convey and express the feelings and images of the music through my voice. I was curious so I asked Sakurai-san about it, turns out she wrote that song with my image in mind after attending one of my lives! I remember I was deeply moved when I heard that, music creators are all so great at turning emotions into music.

―― As an artist you feel blessed to be in that position.

That’s true. These people create music so naturally. I feel happy and blessed to be able to work together with them.

―― This time you are releasing three editions of your album as well as a special collaboration that comes with a signed table clock. This limited edition is only available on WIZY.

Yes. The picture used for this clock is the same design that’s used for the poster that comes with the Limited Edition B. Truth is, that picture was taken after the cover shoot for my first EP “Aki no Sakura”, we had already finished taking all the pictures but there was such a beautiful sunset that I shouted at the camera-man, “please take a picture now!!” *laughs* Just a few minutes later the beauty of the moment was gone and it turned dark so I am glad we were able to capture that special moment on camera.

―― It’s very nice to bring this special moment to life in the shape of an alarm clock.

It is! Personally, I am very bad at getting up in the morning, I don’t trust myself to wake up with just a single alarm. Before I go to sleep I always set an alarm that will ring every two minutes, almost like a snooze but not quite.

―― Why not a snooze function?

The snooze function is no good! One time I managed to delete my snooze, I really can’t trust myself in the midst of waking up *laughs*. That’s why I had this table clock made with a strict alarm function. That will wake you up for sure *laughs*

―― This is not a lottery, it’s a limited build-to-order production so I am sure fans are happy about that.

In the past I created a piano music box that was given away as a lottery bonus for purchasing my CD. I am sure everyone who applied would have loved that piano but unfortunately only a selected few received it as present. So this time we decded to use WIZY’s service for a build-to-order production. This way, everyone who wants the clock can order it. In addition, I am more than happy to sign each and every clock, it doesn’t matter whether there are 10.000 orders or just 3!...although I would be very sad if there were just 3 orders *laughs*.

―― What do you think of your artist goods?

I create them because I want to make the fans happy. I create whatever I feel like creating. Shark goods are most popular. Usually I will make something shark-related because I love sharks so much. Recently I also started making gyoza-themed goods.

―― WOW! Amazing! *laughs*

Combining the things I like I also created a character called “Gyozame-chan” *laughs* I am free to make all kinds of goods but I try to think of things my fans will like, something that can be used by both men and women. While my possibilities are endless I want to make useful items, it should be something you could put in a store and sell. That’s why I really like the alarm clock because it seems like something people would actually use. It’s a reasonable purchase *laughs* And a nice decoration.

―― I look forward to the finished product! What do you want to do with your fans in the future?

Go look at sharks with them, eat gyoza with them *laughs*. I also want to do more lives in many places. I want to increase the things I can do during my concerts. The Limited A edition of my album contains an audio recording of the song “Koi wa Itsumo” from my birthday live on December 12 last year at Mynavi BLITZ Akasaka. I sang this song together with everyone in the audience. I was so happy in that moment so I would like to keep trying to do things like that in the future.

―― What kind of input do you use for your songs?

Movies, tv-shows. Everything that makes me cry or laugh, that’s very important. Short videos, novels or mangas can also be inspiring. Everything is related to my feelings so it‘s very important to me, whether it is an unrealistic idea or a conversation with a friend. Speaking of which, the song 『オレンジ/Orange』included in this album describes some of my friends who I meet about once a month. It’s about their love and dedication to work but also the struggle they face. You can literally make the most mundane thing into lyrics if you analyse it closely enough.

―― I am really looking forward to your next work!
