it's easy to read the situation between li tongguang, ruyi, and yuanzhou as a love triangle on a superficial level, but looking even one step further, it's clear that there's no triangle about it. li tongguang is obsessed with ren xin; ning yuanzhou is devoted to ren ruyi. ltg's obsession is fervent and all consuming, but it's not devotion. like ruyi herself notes, his feelings to her are on the basis of her as a mother figure in his life, as a replacement for what he never received from his mother. is there an element of romantic/sexual love/desire to it? maybe. more likely he's deluded himself into thinking that, because the truth is, it's doubtful that ltg even understands what love is (platonic, filial, familial, romantic, all of the above, etc), because he has no basis for understanding. ruyi's teachings and actions towards him are the closest thing he has to hold up as an example. what he wants is ren xin, is a replica of the master he had. he doesn't want ruyi, because he doesn't actually care about ruyi. therefore, he doesn't care if she's sad, angry, mad; he just can't bear her 'abandoning' him. we saw this way back when she first meet and left him, both at thirteen and seventeen. although he distrusts her first, she saves his life and cares for him in the way no one else has, hence her first being raised on a platform in his mind. when she leaves for good, ending their master-disciple relationship/training, even though it's for official business and she's not abandoning him, in his mind that's exactly what it is. so now that she's in his life again, he won't let her leave again. he was powerless before, a child with no proper name, but now he's a recognized member of the imperial family, a man who can meet her as 'equals' (even when that's far from the truth). as a child, he could only cling to her legs and beg her, but now he has the power to keep her by his side. it's telling that when he finally gets confirmation of her identity, it's not ning yuanzhou he seeks to harm (even though he detests him and their relationship), but yang ying. yang ying is ruyi's new disciple, and as ltg doesn't know she's a woman, he only sees her as his direct replacement.

ning yuanzhou, on the other hand, is devoted to ruyi. he wants to build a new life and future with her, instead of slotting her into a spot in the life he already has. he's someone who accompanies her on walks and makes her midnight snacks, who holds her when she needs to be held and lets her go when she needs to do things on her own. when she speaks her mind, he listens, even when it makes him discontent/it's not what he wanted/wants to hear. he sees her unabashedly as his equal, and though he acknowledges her skills and abilities, or points out her naivety, he never does it to belittle her; to him, she is his peer, deserving of the highest honor and respect. he trusts her to have his back, and she has come to trust him to have her. he did what she might have thought no man would ever do: he proved himself reliable, so she came to rely on him. yuanzhou gives her freedom and autonomy as both ren ruyi and ren xin. of course they run into problems, but they both learn and grow from them, as individuals and as a couple. yuanzhou's belief in her is unwavering, but adaptable, whereas ltg's is unwavering, but frozen in time, disallowing for any new information to be presented. yuanzhou works with ruyi to accept the changes thrown her way; he seeks the core behind her actions in order to better understand her. li tongguang cannot accept the changes in ruyi's character, because they run contrary to the master he has on a pedestal in his mind.

what li tongguang wants is to return to the past, but yuanzhou offers ruyi the promise of a future, even one that might never come to fruition. there's no triangle about it.

First, that is in fact Yang, not Kilg%ore possessing Yang, that's just evil Yang. I'd say they... I dunno, kinda fused together? Like Yang took over control, but turned evil in process(she took over hoping that she'll be herself again).

That's the best explanation I could think of, but honestly I just wanted evil Yang with glowing eyes.

Oh and a lil thing, Yang attacks everyone, but if Summer was in front of her she wouldn't land a single hit on her. She loves her mom even when she's evil

how do you sharpen your gifs? they look so good on mobile 🥹

These are my four main filters

I add two layers of smart sharpening for all my gifsets

If the quality of the footage is high quality I like to add High Pass, which it makes it look better imo

To add it go to filter -> other -> high pass

You can set the radius to whatever you like, I have mine at 4.0

After that click okay, and then double click on the editing button that’s inside the circle

These are the blending options. Set it to soft light and 100% opacity

And that’s it!!

If the footage isn’t the best quality (videos from YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, etc) I like to add noise

To do it once again click on filter -> noise -> add noise

The amount of noise you add varies from each gif/gifset

And that’s how I sharpen my gifsets! If you have any other questions let me know!

The Selbstbestimmungsgesetz (self-identify law) allows trans and intersex people to change their name and gender in the civil registry much more easily than before by submitting a self-disclosure form. This will be possible starting on the 1. November 2024 while the self-disclosure forms can be submitted as early as 1. August 2024 because of the 3 month waiting period in the law. After a name and gender change the person will be barred from changing it again for one year. People of ages 14-17 will need the approval of a legal guardian to change their gender and name while for children under 14 the legal guardians can submit a form for the change.

Dude! I was reading your tags and omggg you cant just leave me like that. As someone not from the southeast asian side you have got to explain to me the culture relevance of Sam kissing Mon’s feet (i mean I probably get the general gist of it like royalty bowing down to a commoner) but is there a more stronger significance?

First, I’ll start with a disclaimer. Even though I’m southeast asian, even though we share a lot of the same, my culture and Thai’s culture are slightly different (due to the major religion in the countries). Also, I would try to explain the best that I can.

But, the short answer to your question is, basically by kissing Mon’s feet (and in kinda prostrating position) she is implying that despite she is the nobility, Mon is above her.

Here’s the background of this. In most part of southeast asia, kissing the feet of someone is mostly done out of respect and reverence. Like, the most obvious example in Thai is definitely when it comes to the king and royalties. Even the Queen will prostrate towards the King when they got married. But other circumstances also exist for this act. One example was when the Thailand’s and Philippines’ olympic gold medalists returned home and the first thing they did were, to bow down to their parents & coaches and kissing/touching their feet.

But in all circumstances where someone bows down and kissing the feet of the person they are bowing to, the person that bows is of a lower position, literally and figuratively. Commoners to nobilities, nobilities to a higher ranks royalties, a child towards the parents, an athlete towards their coach, students towards their teacher, commoners towards monks, younger to older people, someone apologising for a big wrong etc. So yeah, it basically boils down to hierarchy and position of power.

So, even if we put aside the fact that Sam is a noble lady, she is willingly putting herself at a lower position (at the bench or whatever the furniture is called), sitting in a kinda prostrating position and then kissing Mon’s feet. It implies that she truly, truly revere Mon and kinda implying that Mon is the one in position of power. And when you add back the fact that Sam is a literal nobility/royalty, and she’s doing that to Mon, a commoner, which is a flip to the custom, and if in a difference circumstances it could be an insult to Sam’s position, it’s just…amazing.

Or another interpretation is that she knows the situation she put Mon in is not ideal and she is truly sorry and this is her way of apologising. Which if based on the dialogue, might be more accurate. Not as amazing as above, but still amazing coz again, she is lowering her position there.

To be honest, I’m not sure whether it is intentional on the writers’ and director’s part for this scene to be this way, but the symbolism is there and it blew my mind.

Oh my GOD, I just realized why Donnie acts so weird in Man vs. Sewer. I always thought his behavior was odd in that episode, particularly in his nonchalance towards finding and saving Raph - but I had the most random thought occur to me during work that TOTALLY explains it. I'm sure some people have probably pointed this stuff out already, but I wanted to put this out there anyway.

The episode 'Man-vs-Sewer' is a personal favorite of mine. I love the episodes where the boys are just goofing off, and this episode is that plus some. We see get to see the boys having fun for a bit at the start of the episode, but it also adds a bit more depth to some of the turtles. We see a really surprising side to Raph's character with his fear of being alone, and Leo gets to shine a bit as a leader and hint at his true potential.

However, I was always a bit puzzled by the way Donnie and Mikey were written in this episode. As a rule, Rise is pretty good about keeping its characters, well, in character, so their behavior struck me as kind of strange, particularly Donnie's.

If there is one thing Rise NAILS about Donnie's character is showing that despite struggling with emotions and empathy, he is still NOT AN ASSHOLE. Donnie genuinely and deeply loves his family - he just has a hard time expressing it externally.

'Man-vs-Sewer' kind of stood out to me as an exception to that, however. At this point, Donnie's care for his brothers is an undisputed fact, so why does he seem so unconcerned about finding Raph after being separated? Even for Donnie, this seems like an ooc level of indifference towards the well-being of his brother (at least that's how I saw it).

Except, it isn't. In fact, this episode only reinforces that Donnie does care for his family, it's just a *bit* harder to see here.

One thing many neurodivergent people struggle with is a sudden change in plans. When they expect to do something that day it can be very difficult for some neurodivergent people to deal with it emotionally and can lead to immense frustration or even shutdowns. Since Donnie is confirmed to be, at the very least, autistic coded, this would absolutely apply to him as well.

The turtles planned to have a nice, relaxing day floating along New York's sewers and enjoying a small break from all the stress of finding the Dark Armor. No fighting, no mystic metal, no foot clan. Just a calm day of fun without a care in the world - only for it to be ruined by a bad pass and a lost brother.

I know if my plans were ruined like that, I would be in an absolutely FOUL mood. It can be hard to transition into a different mindset when the expectations for the day change like that, and it can make anyone frustrated, but Donnie doesn't appear to be that way. In fact, he's acting extremely casual.

Even though everything he was going to do today was upended and his brother is now missing in the New York sewers, why does Donnie seem so unconcerned about the whole situation?

Answer: It's a coping mechanism.

It would be very easy for him to be a bit more annoyed and frustrated at the whole situation (I definitely would be), but he isn't. Instead, he avoids getting overwhelmed and emotional by continuing through the day as if nothing has really changed.

The whole time they are finding Raph, Donnie behaves as if they are still on a peaceful, carefree mini-vacation. He makes snide jokes and jabs toward Leo, enjoys the drinks he brought in his shell, and constantly reminds the others that it is his "day off." If he can act as though he's still relaxing, it becomes easier to adjust to unexpected alterations in his day. This isn't Donnie being willfully inconsiderate towards Raph being lost and alone, this is just him trying to manage with the sudden changes the best he can in that moment.

If Donnie really was an uncaring asshole (as some may be inclined to believe given his apparent lack of empathy), he simply would have resumed their original plans, or been more vocally resistant to going after Raph. Instead, he joins his brothers in their search, and although he may not provide the best input for finding Raph because of his coping method (his brain is in "day off" mode which is why he keeps missing clues about Raph), he is still making an effort.

In a way, the episode which I thought portrayed a slightly out-of-character version of Donnie actually provides yet another example of how Donnie really loves his brothers, despite how it may seem on the surface.

(Actually, depending on the way you interpret his character, the same can be said for Mikey in this episode as well. Mikey is always a bit of a goofball in the show but in this episode, it is dialed up to 11. He also doesn't seem to much care or effort into finding Raph and acts like a child who managed to snag one of their parents' energy drinks. If we consider that maybe he is also struggling to adapt to the changes of the day, this could be him adopting a similar coping method to Donnie, it is just amplified because of his hyperactive behavior and personality.)

What's the name of the Bloodmoon & little Sun Au & what's the backstory to it?

I never really gave it an 'Official' AU title, it became known as the "Lil Sun AU" cause that's what my friends called it when i first shared the comic lol. For some backstory, Bloodmoon twins (split apart originally) where created and raised in a lab as experiments (among many others) before escaping and living freely. They didn't care much for civilization or settling down so they chose the life of a wanderer and feeding off the wildlife to survive. Later finding Sun, an newly escaped experiment, taking him in even though he causes a huge risk to their safety. With many scientists/military an trained beasts out to re-capture Sun to take him back. :>

So erm... It hath been decided, by the terms of @saphushia proverbially beating me over the head with a golden shovel, that their short comic is canon.

To clarify how this is to be the case, I present to you with a comic that takes place between parts 3 and 4 of the initial "How Etho Deviates" comic! Bdubs, after returning with the stolen supplies from Xisuma’s android facility, decides it's too dangerous to try to have etho fix himself up where bdubs left him in the caves, so he carries etho back up to the surface, probably to wherever safe is closest (most likely to where he has Lulu hitched up).

However comma. This means it takes substantially longer before bdubs is able to give Etho the thirium, and… well, he was laying there for Quite A While. I can only imagine that the increased thirium loss would complicate things considerably.
