Gold Rush | Graham Dunne x Reader
Request from @ariianelle: hey!! you're currently carrying the djats fics rn and I was wondering if you could write a graham x reader inspired by gold rush by Taylor Swift? specifically fluff with a happy ending? mainly just Graham pining over the reader? <3
A/N: This may be my favorite Graham fic I've ever written. It was entertaining to no end—and I'm usually pretty hard on my work.
Warnings: Mentions of kidneys and vomit
Daisy Jones and The Six Masterlist
Tumblr media
Being in the spotlight was exhausting. There were times you wish you could have five minutes, just five to yourself. But that wasn't the kind of world you lived in.
Cameras were constantly flashing around you, microphones were being put into your face, fans were asking for your autograph. You could barely catch your breath.
You hadn't asked for any of this. Not the fame or the fortune. From a young age, you were forced into acting lessons by your parents who had big dreams of their daughter fitting in with high society.
The first movie you ever did cemented your place in Hollywood as a sexy, sultry, up and coming actress. You were fifteen. There shouldn't have been anything sexy or sultry about you.
After the release of "The Governor's Daughter", you were launched fullforce into a career you never wanted. No matter how many carpets you walked down or how many after parties you attended, none of it made the life you were living any easier.
You were living your parents dream, not your own.
Those thoughts were interrupted by a knock on your dressing room door. Taking a deep breath, you smoothed out the front of your dress, opening the door.
The SNL manager stood outside, pointing to the face of his watch, "You're on in seven."
You got the memo, shutting the door behind you and making your way to the stage. But an ongoing conversation in a dressing room beside yours caught your attention.
"You don't get it, Billy, she's the most famous actress of the decade. She's our Evelyn Hugo," One man exclaimed.
Another man laughed, "Evelyn Hugo is still the actress of our decade."
"No, you don't get it, she's different. Everybody wants her. Everybody. I heard one guy sold his kidney just to meet her."
"A kidney? Graham, where are you getting this from?"
A sheepish laugh escaped the other man's lips, "The tabloids."
"You, as much as anyone, should know to never trust the tabloids," He sighed, "Graham, if you like her so much, why don't you ask her out?"
"Have you seen her? She's beautiful, she grew up beautiful," The man, Graham, said, "I don't have a chance with her. I don't even think I'd be able to talk around her."
A groan escaped the other man, "You never know. Michelle Wieler liked you in fifth grade and according to you, she was the prettiest girl in the whole school."
"Billy..."
A sudden snapping behind you snapping you out of your trance, "Snap, snap, Y/N, time to get out on that stage."
Taking a deep breath, you prepared yourself for your SNL monologue.
------------------------------------------------------------
At the end of your monologue, you made an announcement to a happy crowd, "Stuck around because after break, Daisy Jones and The Six will perform their hit single, Look At Us Now!"
The audience erupted into applause, on the edge of their seats to listen to the increasingly popular song. It hadn't been out long, but it was already a classic in their eyes.
Walking back of stage to prepare for a skit, you had little to change about your appearance. The segement revolved around your character going on a date at a formal restaurant that goes horribly wrong.
All you needed was a quick touch up. You were in and out of your dressing room in the snap of a finger, taking your place beside the sound tech. You always appreciated those behind the scenes. They never got enough credit.
Beside you, two men walked up, each with a head full of curls. One looked like he had been through hell while the other looked like he had just seen a ghost.
He began whispering to the man beside him, his eges glued to you. But the man simply elbowed him in the ribs, effectively shushing him.
He turned towards you, extending his hand, "Excuse me? Big fan of your work, name's Billy Dunne."
You shook his hand, giving him a warm smile, "Y/N L/N."
Billy nodded to the man on his left, "This is Graham. He's a bit starstruck, if you can't tell."
Your eyebrows raised. So this was the Graham who had been gushing about you in the dressing room. He was cute, that you couldn't deny. But his naivety got in his way.
"Graham, is it?" You smiled, moving in front of him, leaning in to hug him.
He tensed up, shock settling into his features as he looked at Billy, trying to contain his excitement.
Before you pulled away, you whispered in his ear, "For future reference, it was both kidneys."
You pulled away from him immediately after, sauntering off in the other direction.
Graham turned towards his brother, his jaw open.
Billy gave him a questioning look, "What the hell happened to you?"
"Did you tell her?" He was practically shaking out of his skin.
"Tell who what?"
Graham tried to take a deep breath, his foot rapping against the floor, "Did you tell Y/N about the kidney thing? What I said?"
"I've been with you the whole time, dumbass."
"God, I'm an idiot," Graham cursed himself while his brother wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
"Oh, Graham, you have so much to learn."
------------------------------------------------------------
After the band delivered a flawless performance, you walked out on stage to do your skit. Even now, after years of walking out in front of an audience, you felt like your heart was beating out of your chest.
Taking a seat on a wooden chair in front of a table draped in white cloth, you waited for your costar to join you.
That's when Graham Dunne was pushed out on stage, nervously smiling at the crowd.
Amused, you crossed your legs and leaned in to whisper as he sat down, "Where's Don?"
"Puking in one of the stalls in the men's room," He responded.
"So they sent you?" You asked, the corners of your lips lifting.
He swallowed the bile rising in his throat, "I can tell them to bring somebody else—"
"No, stay. I just hope you can read the cards."
Graham nodded, "About earlier—"
"And action!" Someone yelled off set, cutting the youngest Dunne off.
With that, Graham launched into his first SNL skit.
-------
After the skit, you and Graham walked off stage, laughing at one another.
"I was awful!" He exclaimed, unable to control himself.
"You were hilarious," You replied, "Anyone else would've thought you just had impeccable comedic timing."
"Or that I'm a dumbass!"
You shrugged, "Well, I think you did wonderfully."
"How wonderfully?" He asked, looking at you expectantly as he shoved his hands in his pockets, rocking back and forth on his heels.
"Wonderful enough that I'll let you ask me on a date," You smiled, adding, "I mean, according to you, everyone wants me."
He cringed, "How much of that did you hear?"
"Enough to tell you about over dinner, if you'd ask me."
He nodded, straightening himself out, "Y/N, will you go on a date with me?"
You pretended to hesitate, "I don't know, let me think about it..."
Graham's eyes widened, having already fallen victim to your relentless teasing.
You reached for his hand, jokingly checking his pulse, "I was teasing, Mr. Dunne."
Nodding, he grinned, "Friday, at six?"
"I think that could be arranged."
"I won't have to give up a kidney, will I?"
You took his arm, linking it through yours, "Oh, Mr. Dunne, you have so much to learn."

Okay so it's not fair if you get to perfectly capture Bale's Batman as well as every other character you write for 😅 you're too damn talented!
So, without further ado I'm going to become that person:
Dannnnyyyyyyyy gimme more Bruce Wayne
Tumblr media
Sequel to The Other Half | Masterlist
Warnings: I'm in love with him. There, that's the warning.
Tumblr media
When you go to bed that night, you drop off fairly quickly. You’re $500 richer, and replying the easy smiles and laughs and conversation that you’d shared with him. He’d been far nicer, and far more down to earth than you could’ve ever imagined.
The next day, your manager is a little…Grumbley. She’s sort of irritated that you spent so much time with Wayne, though she doesn’t say as much. You can tell by the way she mumbles to herself, straightens a display, glances at you, and then goes back to mumbling and straightening displays again. The day passes without incident (though a few of your coworkers come up to ask what he was like. You tell them the truth: Incredibly dreamy up close, and nicer than you expected.) As you clock out for the day and wave goodnight to the security guard, you hear someone say your name.
You turn, and catch sight of a well-dressed older gentleman that looks familiar. You think it may be the man that Bruce showed you a picture of at the diner yesterday, but you’re not entirely sure.
“...Yes?” You ask, taking a couple of steps closer to him, “Can I help you?”
“Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alfred Pennyworth. I'm Mr. Wayne's butler.”
Your brows raise a touch. “Oh! Was there something wrong with what he purchased yesterday?”
“Not that I’m aware of. He asked me to give you this.” Alfred holds an envelope out to you. You take it carefully, unable to help the way your confusion slows you. You eye your name written on the front, then turn the envelope over in your hands. You open it, drawing out an invitation for that evening. Your eyes skim the details—the time, the place. You recognize the name of the place—Chef du Roi. It’s an upscale restaurant in one of the highest skyscrapers in Gotham. You scoff out a stunned little laugh.
“If you do plan on accepting Mr. Wayne’s invitation,” Alfred tacked on, “I will be happy to drive you to your apartment, and then to the venue.”
“Uh…” You hesitate, glancing between the invitation and Alfred a couple of times. “That is…Really kind of you, Mr. Pennyworth, but I don’t wanna waste your time.”
“No time would be wasted,” He reassures with a smile. “And Mr. Wayne has told me that I will owe you quite the thank you, come Christmas morning.”
You chuckle, shaking your head in slight surprise. You'd be a fool to say no. Besides, you enjoyed your time in Mr. Wayne's company yesterday. Why not see if you enjoy it today.
“Uh…Okay. Yeah.”
“The car is waiting outside,” Alfred gestures. You nod a little, muttering your thanks as he holds the door open for you.
--
You’re panicking all the way back to your apartment. You insist that Alfred come up and have a cup of something warm while you’re getting dressed. Your roommate, Michelle, makes a pot of tea while you frantically search your closet for something suitable for dinner at a rooftop restaurant with a billionaire.
You shower as quickly as you can, do your hair and makeup faster than you ever have in your life. You call Michelle in to zip your dress up, fanning under your arms to stop from sweating with panic.
“You better use extra perfume,” Michelle warns, “You’re gonna sweat right through this thing—Hang on, I have a shawl that’s gonna cover your upper arms. Maybe by the time you get the entrees, you’ll have stopped up a little bit.”
“Ugh, thank you,” You mutter, fanning at your heating face, “Oh my god, I’m gonna sweat off my makeup.”
“Calm down!”
“You calm down!”
--
“I see you got my invitation.”
“I did,” You nod. Bruce gives Alfred a nod over your shoulder, and you turn to look at him as well. Alfred smiles warmly, offering you a quick wink before turning away. You smile, turning to face Bruce again.
“C’mon,” He nods you closer, resting his hand on your lower back as you fall into step with him. You expect the restaurant to be bustling, but you find it…Completely silent and completely empty.
“Oh, wow,” You mumble. “Maybe this place isn’t as hard to get into as I thought.”
Bruce laughs, pulling your chair out for you.
“Thank you,” You mutter, glancing up at him.
“Of course.” He rounds to his side of the table, sitting down. “Do you prefer red, white, or rosé?”
“Rosé.”
“I can work with that.”
You smile, looking down at the menu. You skim the names of the dishes, fighting the urge to look at the prices.
“Um…I hope this isn’t rude, but, uh…” You look at Bruce from beneath your lashes. “What am I doing here?”
“Well it looks like you’re looking at a menu, but looks can be deceiving.”
You tip your head to the side, arching your brows. Bruce’s smile widens before he tacks on, “We ate at a diner yesterday, instead of some five-star something something. So, now you can see how the other half eats.”
You huff a laugh, shaking your head.
“Incredibly generous of you, Mr. Wayne. But you could’ve sent me take out from somewhere upscale.”
“Maybe I wanted to see you again.”
“Just maybe? Renting out an entire restaurant seems like a lot for a maybe.”
“Alright,” Bruce’s smile softens as he leans in a little. “I really wanted to see you again.”
“Because I don’t treat you like you’re Bruce Wayne?”
“Because I want to get to know you better…And because you don’t treat me like I’m Bruce Wayne.”
You laugh softly, leaning back in your seat a little. You can’t take the way he’s leaning in; his look is too warm, too sweet. Even though he spent most of the day yesterday showing you that he’s not some simple-minded billionaire, not the man that you've seen in the papers or on tv, it still feels so foreign and surprising. It shouldn’t—you don’t really know the man sitting across from you. You’ve spent a total of two and a half hours with him.
“So,” You look over the menu, “Have you got any recommendations for this five-star something something?”
“Not a one. I’ve never been here before.”
Your brows shoot up.
“You rented out a restaurant that you’ve never been to before?”
“Uh-huh.”
“What if we hate it?”
“Then Alfred will drive us to the nearest fast food place and we’ll get a cheeseburger.”
“You wouldn’t do that.”
Bruce reaches out, resting a hand on your menu and tipping it down to get your attention.
“Watch me.”
You bite your lip to tamp your smile down, but you can’t help your grin.
“Bullshit.”
--
“I can’t believe you.”
“Sure you can—Are there fries in there? I thought I got fries,” Bruce frowns, tipping the greasy paper bag toward himself. You giggle, watching him rifle through it before he lets out out a triumphant grunt. You watch as he draws out a handful, cramming them into his mouth.
“Slow down! If you keep this up,  you’re gonna choke.”
Bruce waves you off, taking up his milkshake to wash the fries down. You lean back against the park bench, glancing back over Gotham Harbor. The sun is just beginning to set, casting a golden glow across the water.
“Still can’t believe you rented that place out and then took me to BK’s.” “Now you know not to challenge me.”
“I learned the tasty way.”
“‘Sides, the staff at du Roi got paid, and got the night off this way. It’s a win-win,” He offers. Your gaze flickers to his lips as he raises his thumb, sucking away a few grains of salt. Your face goes warm at the sight, and you hurriedly avert your gaze again.
“Bless Alfred for braving the drive-thru,” You add.
“He’s gone through far worse for me.”
“Oh?” “Mm.”
You wait for Bruce to go on. Instead, he fishes into the paperbag for another handful of fries.
“Can I ask you something?” He asks once he’s swallowed.
“Sure.”
“You said your family moved because Metropolis was more affordable?” “Mhm.”
“Do you think they would’ve stayed if they could’ve afforded to?”
You consider for a moment. The question turns your stomach. It’s one that you’ve been grappling with yourself.
“Mm…” You look down at the burger in your hands, picking at a stray piece of lettuce.
“I don’t know,” You finally admit, shaking your head a little. “Maybe? It kinda reached a point where they were between moving to Metropolis and moving to the Narrows. I mean, the crime’s been off the charts—and even with the Batman doing everything he does, you know, my mom’s been…Panic-y. She didn’t feel safe here. Not that Metropolis has been a bed of roses, you know, I mean, they’ve got—that Mannheim situation over there, same way we had Falcone. It was kind of just a…Lesser of two evils.”
Glancing over at Bruce again, you find him staring speculatively at his burger. You bite your lip, fighting the urge to ask about his family—about what he remembers of his parents, but—
“Has Alfred gotten any hints about what he’s getting for Christmas this year?” You ask.
“Not a one,” Bruce answers without missing a beat. His gaze flickers to you again, a small smile curling his lips.
“Good,” You chuckle. “I’m glad I didn’t ruin any surprises when he turned up at the store.”
“Oh no? Didn’t ask how the gloves fit?”
“I’m not gonna lie, I was this close.”
“No—”
“You showed me his picture yesterday, I recognized him! And as soon as he said it name was Alfred, it just clicked. But—I just asked if there was anything wrong with what you’d bought yesterday. Didn’t even say that it was for him.”
“Very subtle.”
“Thank you.”
You reach into the bag, drawing out a few fries, and grinning and giggling as Bruce reaches out. He bats at your wrist, grumbling, “You’ve had yours already!”
“C’mon, you’re a billionaire. You can spare a couple fries.”
“Mm, I suppose.”
“You big baby.”
--
The ride back to your apartment feels sort of embarrassing. You don’t exactly live in the nicest neighborhood—you can’t imagine someone like Bruce Wayne has been anywhere near it.
Alfred opens the car door for you, smiling and nodding as you get out.
“Thank you, Mr. Pennyworth.”
“Please, call me Alfred.”
“Well, Alfred. Thank you.”
“It’s been an honor, miss. And thank you again for the tea.”
“Any time.”
You round the car, smiling and taking hold of Bruce’s proffered hand.
“I’ll be a moment,” Bruce tells Alfred. Then he turns, letting you lead the way to your front door.
“I had a nice time,” You offer softly.
“Oh?”
“Mhm. I still can’t believe you rented out Chef du Roi and then took me to fucking Burger King.”
“I’m just glad you could have it your way.”
You splutter a laugh, turning away from Bruce and shaking your head. “Unbelievable.”
“...Could I see you again?”
The question is a surprising one, and it makes you turn to look at Bruce again. He’s watching you patiently; the way he sweeps his thumb tenderly across the back of your hand tells you that he doesn’t know what you’re going to say. You’re not entirely sure yourself. You think for a moment before offering:
“I’ve never been to Taco Bell.”
Bruce’s lips split into a wide, beautiful smile.
“I think we can work with that,” He chuckles.
“Oh yeah?”
“I’ll reserve a table and everything.”
“I don’t think you can reserve a table there.”
“How would you know? You’ve never been.”
“And you have?”
“You’d be surprised by where I’ve eaten.”
“You’ve already surprised me twice in a row. I think to really shock me, you’d have to take me dumpster diving—”
“We could do that, you know.”
“Oh, the Gazette would have a field day—Prince of Gotham Dumpster Diving—and Hanging Out at Local Landfill.”
“Ouch,” Bruce laughs, lowering his arms to curl around your waist. The move catapults your heart into your throat. “C’mon, you’re better than that.”
“You just say that ‘cause you’ve seen me all dressed up.”
“I’ve seen you at work, too.”
“I’m much more presentable at work than I am in my downtime.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Mhm.”
“I’d like to see that,” Bruce insists, raising his hand to cup your cheek.
“Well, I’m sure we could arrange—”
Before you can finish teasing him, Bruce is leaning in, pressing his lips warmly to yours. It’s far more gentle than you expect—but then again, nothing that Bruce has done has been what you expect. You let your eyes slip closed, leaning into him. Your lips pull with a small smile as Bruce pulls you just a little bit closer, his hand curling around to rest on your nape. You raise your hands, gently curling in the fabric of his coat lapels. You think he’ll draw away, but Bruce catches you off-guard again, instead gently nipping your lip, then sucking it between his lips. You tenderly nudge your nose against as the kiss cools. Bruce rests his forehead gently against yours.
You swipe your tongue across your lips, smiling as you feel Bruce’s fingers flex in your coat.
“So,” He murmurs, “Taco Bell? Tomorrow?”
You giggle, nodding.
“It’s a date, Mr Wayne.”

Tumblr media
I’m running early for the movie night on Saturday. As I zip myself into my coat by the door I feel pleased with myself about it, because it means for once I won’t be rushing. Maybe I can even be extra nice and prove to Michelle that I am not always the nightmarishly annoying boy she thinks I am by helping to make popcorn, or pouring sweets into little bowls for her.
Tumblr media
My mother descends the staircase just as I am about to leave. “Jude?” She says, “Where are you headed?”
“Jen’s, we’re just watching a film.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, no. You’ll have to be home tonight with Ivy. I have plans.”
I am incredulous, “Plans, mom?”
“Don’t act so surprised, please, yes, I have plans. I’m going into the city centre for eight. Ivy can’t be left alone, I thought you would be here.”
“You thought but you didn’t ask.”
Tumblr media
She rolls her eyes and makes her way over to the hallway mirror to fidget with her earring. They’re the Swarovski crystal ones she got from Dad a few birthdays ago and acted unenthused about. It was probably just to get to him because I’ve seen them on her multiple times since, too many times for a woman who said they weren’t her style. “Well if we’re both going out then you’ll have to arrange to have the babysitter come over.”
Tumblr media
“Me? Why me?”
“As I explained to you, I need to be in town at eight. It will take me twenty minutes to walk to the DART station and then another twenty to get to the restaurant.”
“Why are you getting the DART?”
“Because I intend to have a drink.”
Tumblr media
I pull a face. Is she really going out for fun? My mother does not have fun. I’m convinced that she enjoys nothing, in fact, and only cracks a smile when she is pretending to experience joy like some sort of alien life form attempting to imitate human emotion. “Dad is home,” I manage after several perplexed seconds, standing by the coat rack while she applies some sort of sticky gloss to her lips.
Tumblr media
“Your father is in his office working. He can’t look after a child when he is working,” She sighs with impatience, because shouldn't it be obvious that this man cannot possibly watch his child while in the same house as her? “Why are you so confused? We have the babysitter’s number in the address book, just arrange for her to come over. Your father will pay her.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Yeah, and if she’s not available? Agnieszka is nineteen and it’s a Saturday night…”
“Then you’ll have to stay behind,” She turns and looks me up and down, shrugging carelessly, “sorry.”
Tumblr media
I shrug out of my coat and stalk into the kitchen where the address book of all of the people who come and go from this house is stacked neatly in a drawer. I should really have them all off by heart, or at least saved in my phone for the amount of times I have to phone these people.
“Goodbye, Jude.” Mom calls from the hallway.
I don’t answer her. She shuts the door with a thump.

Hi! Here's some stuff about a celebrity-themed AU I've been formulating in my head since last year. I'll probs post more later when I'm less sleep deprived :')) I do have major ideas though, so hope you like 'em!
☆ passione is a modelling agency/magazine ran entirely by diavolo. it's one of the most famous companies in the world, and also one of the more relaxed ones. technically diavolo's twin brother doppio and doppio's now wife donatella helped form it, but they all agreed it'd be easier for diavolo to head it. doppio works as a photographer there, while donatella is a model.
☆ the joestars are essentially the hilton family of this au. most people know their names because they're famous in their own fields outside of the family. for instance, jonathan is an archeologist, dio (who is now a biological joestar) is a lawyer/agent/manager, jotaro is a marine biologist with several documentaries under his belt, and so on.
☆ if the joestars are the hiltons, then the part 8 higashikatas are the kardashians. they have their own reality TV show chronicling their lives, known by all as keeping up with the higashikatas. some major specials were jobin and mitsuba's wedding, the twins' (rina and joshu) sweet sixteens and later daiya's, kaato being released from prison, and hato's explosive break-up with tamaki damo.
☆ elizabeth is still married to george ii/jorge joestar, and she has her own fashion house known as lisa lisa. working under her are caesar zeppeli and suzi q, who both have their own ideas on which direction the brand's image should go. their rival is kars and the other pillar men's own label. (unnamed as of right now)
☆ diego is jonathan and dio's younger stepbrother through his mother marrying their father when diego was a kid. diego had always been closer with jonathan, while he always had a tense relationship with dio. as an adult, diego is a professional driver and looks after his nephews; dio's own sons.
☆ jolyne has an underground band with ermes and f.f. called the stone frees! they perform at a grungy venue known as green dolphin, named for its famous neon green dolphin sign. outside of performing, they're usually seen hanging out in ermes' sister gloria's restaurant. they tend to give it free publicity where they can.
jolyne also goes by cujoh in an attempt to distance herself from her father, and to prevent herself from being accused of nepotism.
☆ johnny was a former movie star who quit performing after a major accident rendered him unable to walk. his father hired a physical therapist for him named gyro zeppeli, and barred him from any other visitors out of a sense of shame. however, johnny's older brother nicholas tends to allow guests to see him anyway when their father's away. johnny also keeps in contact with rina higashikata, but that's a secret!
☆ josuke (no relation to the part 8 higashikatas) is an aspiring hairdresser/celebrity stylist, and he often asks to practice on other people. he religiously reads the cinderella magazine for tips and ideas on what to do next and his idol is aya tsuji, who he dreams of working alongside someday.
☆ gappy is yoshikage and kei's younger brother. he's not technically a celebrity, but he often shows up on kuwth due to being childhood friends with joshu and rina. people often joke about him being their missing triplet, though he always denies it. he does see the higashikatas as a second family, however.
☆ giorno is a model under passione, which he joined beneath his father's nose at both diego and his best friend perla's suggestion. when dio found out, he demanded for giorno to allow him to be his agent due to his superior connection. refusing, giorno instead left to live with diego whilst bruno bucciarati became his agent instead. the two people who oversaw giorno's casting were man x (will be referred to as michel) and polpo.
☆ after giorno left, dio began to acknowledge his other three sons; donatello, ungalo, and rikiel. he began with taking custody of donatello, and pushed him into joining a modelling agency as well. he manufactured a rivalry between donatello and giorno, though giorno's more interested in saving all his brothers from their father's influence than anything.
☆ jodio and dragona are both popular on social media. dragona enjoys posting ootds, makeup tutorials, and storytimes, whilst jodio does (awful) skateboarding tricks and skits. sometimes he'll join dragona's storytimes and makeup tutorials, or they'll both do various challenges and skits together.
☆ more stuff to come later!

Isn't Being A Wicked Woman Much Better? Side Story Chapter 8
***
'Hmm. By the way, Michelle Granbert is more than a princess's friend... .'
I feel like an ardent believer.
During the battle with the Warlock, I lent her a joint doll to serve as a bait, so I thought she was pretty close to the princess, but Michelle's condition was a little different from being a friend.
“Wow, Princess. Doesn't my face look weird now? I’m so nervous.”
Michelle asked me about her condition with a pale face. Her clenched fists were trembling with tension from before.
“Originally, you’re on the white side, so you don’t look much different from usual. But, are you so nervous? ”
After all, Deborah is the saint who saved the empire.
The other day, there weren't many people who recognized her true worth, and she was with the devil, but after the battle, it was definitely felt that her followers increased.
“I really can't believe it. I didn't expect it, actually, I prayed, but I wasn't very lucky, so I never dreamed that I would be invited to this event. It is such an honor and thank you again, Princess.”
Michel Granbert, who was invited to this tea party due to the whim of the princess, had trouble sleeping from the day she was invited.
Everyone was envious of themselves attending a tea party with two celebrities from the Empire... . I never liked her because she was a saint!
Michelle took great pride in not being late.
'The owner of Armand, whom I had only vaguely imagined, was Princess Deborah! She even had a sublime side job of being a saint.'
Tea time with the person whom I admired enough to prepare a tribute to the doll to secretly present and even write an analysis thesis!
“You are a very successful person. It was good to be alive.”
Michelle was thrilled.
“But I didn’t know that you would be in front of the imperial family since dawn. Damn I came out early.”
“If you are late for even one second, it is a big deal. So, it is more comfortable to wait in the morning.”
“Huh, yes, that aside, I’ve been concerned about it since a while ago, but what did you have in your hand?”
“It's a script...”
“I don’t know why I need a script for the tea party, but I’m skipping this one, so what did I write down?”
The 5 princesses showed curiosity as they looked at the paper note that Michelle had been holding like a lifeline before.
“… Listen to what I have to say when we meet. this and that.”
“Can I see her?”
While Michelle was hesitating, the news came that the princess had just arrived in front of the Imperial Palace.
“Princess, I suddenly feel dizzy with my tongue…”
Suddenly, Michelle staggered and touched her forehead.
“Wake. You've been waiting since dawn If you fall down like this, you won't be able to see for even a second. ”
“I'll hold out.”
Michelle clenched her teeth and nodded her head resolutely.
Soon after, Princess Deborah appeared through the door, and Michelle managed to suppress the scream.
“How have you been, Princess?”
Princess Deborah greeted her with her characteristic cold expression. However, Princess 5 could now read the warmth in her eyes.
“Thanks to you.”
The two made eye contact and shook hands lightly.
“Did the princess do well too?”
“Yeah, thanks to the princess, I’ve been able to rest and have a good time.”
“But we decided to call each other names, Deborah.”
“It is, Vivienne.”
Seeing the two of them calling their names affectionately, Michelle rolls her feet and wanted to strengthen her feet.
'I'm so envious of you, Princess. I want to ask you to call my name so friendly! '
Although she was yelling out violently inside, Michelle, like a high-ranking nobleman, was adept at hiding her emotions.
“My Michelle, it’s been a while.”
Deborah greeted her, hiding her inner awkwardness.
In front of the company who wrote an analysis thesis about Armand and even promoted it as a five-star restaurant, I was a bit pricked in conscience because I pretended to know nothing about it and was hiding my identity.
In addition, to lure the 3rd Prince by boat, Michelle borrowed what he had, but he dropped the doll in the water and was unable to return it.
'I said in the first place that I don't have to give it back, but... .'
Since she's Princess Seymour, maybe she couldn't ask for the money back.
Deborah glanced at her, and Michelle barely raised her voice, her pupils trembling.
“Princess, it’s been a while.”
“Last time I suddenly asked you to borrow a doll for the boat, thank you for willingly allowing me.”
'It's just an honor for the princess to remember and even use my doll to do something big! Another honor! So there's no need to thank you with such a gracious attitude... Sobbing.'
However, Michelle could not utter the sentences that quickly passed through her head. It was because she was so crazy that her eyes became white as she got entangled with the lines of the script she had written in advance.
‘Just don’t prepare anything. '
“Michelle?”
The 5 princesses lightly called out to Michelle, who seemed to have forgotten how to breathe.
'I guess I'm a little uncomfortable.'
Deborah opened her mouth with a humble face, thinking that Michelle was having a hard time with her face just looking at her face.
“Seymour will surely pay you back. It will not be easy to find a work worth as much as a doll that you made, but I want to reward it.”
'uh? Wait, I guess it's time to spit out those lines?'
Michelle, who suddenly remembered a line from the script, managed to tear her lips apart.
“It’s a reward. Don't say that. I can feel the wall from the princess.”
“At first, my face was a little cold… .”
“...perfect”
“.....”
“.....”
The 5 princesses, who had been silent for a while in the difficult atmosphere, muttered painstakingly.
“Aha, perfection is a barrier.”
“… I'm just going home sorry!”
Michelle jumped up, dyeing her pale face like a ripe apple.
“hey!”
When she couldn't stand the shame and tried to run away, the silent princess suddenly covered her mouth and shook her shoulders.
Seeing her smile for the first time, Michelle relaxed her legs and sat down.
“ where is the handkerchief?”
Michelle mumbled gibberish.
“Why, you said you were getting dizzy from excitement earlier, but this time you look like you’re going to have a nosebleed?”
“no. Princess Deborah smiled, so the juice was splashing all the way here.”
“.....”
laughter means as fresh as fruit.
“You have to wipe… . ”
“… Would you like some tea?”
“Yes. sorry.”
“Until I’m sorry. It's just the head of the empire's best puppeteer... Hmmm, the sense of humor is just amazing. Every time you say something like a gem, it feels like you're facing the wall of another world. Absolutely perfect. ”
It didn't seem like a compliment for some reason, but Michelle was satisfied.
'I'm embarrassed, but it's okay because the princess smiled.'
Anyway, it was the script produced by this vain greed to spit out the memorable lines of the person I admire, but it worked.
'I got on.'
While Michelle dies inside, Princess Deborah raises the teacup with a smile on her face.
“The tea smells really good.”
“Yes, it is very good. ha… .”
“I brought the tea leaves my father loved, especially for you. If there is a wall that has remained for each other, even tear it down and sleep. Of course, it's not perfect. haha.”
“… I will never do that again... .”
“why? It’s fun.”
'They're both having a good time.'
The awkward spot was warmed up by Michelle's jokes, and Deborah sipping tea while listening to their chatter among her peers.
“Ah, princess. do you know that There is no purple amethyst these days, so I can't sell it. ”
“Purple silk and yarn are also trendy. I tried to wear all the dolls I own, but some were out of stock.”
“I am thinking of suggesting that sooner or later, the color of the imperial emblem should be changed to purple instead of blue sky.”
“What the hell… .”
Deborah was smirking inwardly, but, as always, her expression didn't show it well. And it gave the impression of being detached from popularity.
“cool.”
Michelle said first.
“Then, of course not. You are my girl.”
“......”
'They are really close friends.'
Deborah tried to ignore the twinkling gazes of the two of them, while involuntarily fiddling with her sweaty ring fingers. It was a habit that I suddenly developed as I recently wore my engagement ring every day.
And their eyes naturally stayed in the ring.
“Hmm. I heard that she was engaged to Princess Deborah and the Duke of Visconti. congratulations.”
“thanks.”
“I, that, by the way.”
Michelle shyly curled her lips and bit, then pulled it off.
“At the wedding, the… May I be your bridesmaid? huh, if there are any seats left.”
In Asteia, on the day of the wedding, four or five friends of the bride stood next to the bride holding flowers. It was one of the traditions that stemmed from the custom of protecting the bride from outsiders.
“I am unconditionally sitting next to the princess. Don't look too far, Michelle.”
“Still, the left side is empty.”
Deborah felt a strange feeling as she looked at the two of them fighting. She once said that she was the object of fear, and she didn't even have a young girl who made proper eye contact with herself... .
In addition to the two of them, Margaret and Arin came to me saying they wanted to have another bridesmaid. I've been busy with my life, but when I woke up, I was really surprised and happy that there were so many people congratulating me on my marriage.
The princess smiled softly as she slightly curved her sharp eyebrows.
'Ugh.'
His eyes were dazzled for a moment, and Michelle looked around his eyes... .
‘Isidor, you envious child. '
5 The princess seriously went to Isidor with the latest offensive magic tool collection and almost had a political battle.

Random post-canon trauma headcanons about Paresse because I'm not having a good time tonight and need to project
Paresse insists on sitting in the corner booth in restaurants and with his back to the corner, because it gives him a view of the whole place and he can't be snuck up on.
Sneaking up on Paresse is quite possibly the stupidest thing to do, he can and does still know savate and you'll be lucky if your limbs are still attached properly if you some how manage to slip past his hyper vigilance.
While this might get somewhat better with time-- Paresse learning that he's safe at least in his own home and not jumping out of his skin whenever Rage or Fussa sneak a kiss or a hug--for the most part, his friends learn to surprise him in other ways.
He's not really into most first person shooters and absolutely will not touch military based ones, but he does love the DOOM series. He and Vice got extremely competitive over their stats when Doom Eternal came out.
Paresse has god awful migraines and will be an angry blanket ball for most of the day. (If in a Kodomo universe, they get WORSE while he's pregnant) These days usually have Rage and Fussa tossing him things from the safety of the door and him dragging them under the blankets like a horrible beast dragging prey into its den. (You've seen the tiktok im referencing, I know you have.)
One of Paresse's trauma responses is hunching over and going silent, unconsciously making himself fucking terrifying to see glaring at you and towering over you. The equivalent of a prey animal making itself look far more menacing than it is in the face of danger.
This is different than him being legitimately angry, because he has very little filter and you WILL know if he's pissed and more often than not he actually straightens his back more and shifts his weight into a sturdier position, specifically ready to fight--A lot of douji have a similar habit of adopting their old fighting stances when faced with an argument or confrontation.
I've talked about this one before but it bears repeating; Paresse will absolutely over work himself for the sake of taking care of others, absolutely due to how he lost Michel. Mizho has absolutely called him out for this before and they both left that interaction with deep bruises and deeper cuts in their egos.
Along this line, Paresse absolutely holds some resentment for Mizho, mostly in him refusing to believe she's actually him reincarnated and not someone who 'stole' his memories. It gets better in post-canon, but he absolutely can't connect the two like that in his head. And, depending on the AU, the Michel part of Mizho is almost insanely hurt that Paresse doesn't recognize him for who he is, and it's especially obvious when Mizho has heavy flashbacks, like when Yamato mentally becomes 'bandit Yamato'..
I've actually been insanely tempted to write an AU where Paresse DOES recognize it and essentially pushes Mizho into ego death and taking on Michel's persona 24/7. Far more likely to happen in a feel-bad, evil au like CC's Mistress of Evil or an Evil 1.0 AU.

Yandere Teddy Bear Henry (One Shot) Henry Emily X OC Michelle (FNAF) (Five Nights At Freddy)
#HenryEmily #Yandere #YandereHenryEmily #FNAF #YandereFNAF #fivenightsatfreddys #MyOC #OC #HenryEmilyXOC #shamelessselfinsert
[Hello My Sexy Muffins I am here with a new chapter which was made with my co-author and is of me and henry and henry just being his protective yandere self. We stand teddy bear so a furry henry emily]
(Michelle's POV)
I was working hard, I was dating the owner and yes he said I could just move in with him and did not have to work. That he would take care of me. I still felt bad, so now I am waitressing tables at one of his businesses. Today was not easy though. I was on my period and feeling fat and of course, a woman was being very unpleasant and letting her kids run around the restaurant. Normally this would not be a problem, but they are running into other guests and taking things off their tables. It was clear the mother gave them no Faz tokens to play the games. The mother was sitting there talking to her friend and not paying any mind to her kids. I force a smile and walk over.
"Excuse me miss, can you please have your kids settle down? Or give them some tokens for the games? They are disturbing the other guests." I speak calmly and kindly.
"Sorry isn't this a play restaurant, so they can do whatever they want." She says and turns back to her friend.
"Miss yes it has a play area but they are running around the dining area and taking things off the other guest's tables. If you cannot take care of them, I will have to ask you to leave. You can pay the daycare fee to have them put in Pirates Cove Daycare."
"Look here girly, I paid enough money on food and drinks, if my kids want to, they can play where they want to." She snaps at me and my eyebrow twitched.
"Ma'am I understand, but it is our policy-"
"If it is your policy I want to speak to your Manager." She orders.
Oh no, she wants one of those... "Sorry ma'am our manager is out sick today, but one of the owners-"
"Well go get him! Your better start looking for another job! Talking to a paying customer like that!" She shouts at me.
I nodded and went to the back to get Henry. My patient was running thin and my hormones just made me want to cry.
"you okay Michelle?" Henry asked as he looked at me.
"Yes--no, I'm not," I said as Henry placed a hand on me.
"I can understand that it's hard to control children-- but this woman is allowing her children to run over the restaurant, and they are disrupting others, so I warned her and well long story short she wants to talk to you."
He smiled as he placed a hand on my head. "Then I'll talk to her."
I nodded and he heads out to the restaurant. I go to check on the other tables they were getting neglected now.
(Henry's POV)
I walked over and I gave a smile, my hands clasped together.
"Hello, I heard your children are running around, I'm afraid that while some running can not be avoided, I must ask you to get your children to leave our other patrons alone as they have also paid to eat here, and their meals are being ruined."
She stared at me and tried to speak but I cut her off. "When you signed the paper to dining at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria you were agreeing to our legal terms to respect the policy, if you do not leave I will have to contact the police and have an arrested," I say with a smile
She grabs her bags and called her kids over. "You just lost a paying customer!" She snapped and I smiled.
"All our customers are paying customers to have a nice day." I say and wave. Once she was gone I let my glare hit where the door was.
I then looked at Michelle, my sweet Michelle is smiling sweetly and bringing out orders. I walked over as my hand went to her shoulder, giving it a squeeze as I walked by her. She smiles and looks at me before getting back to work I cannot wait until we close.
As soon as everyone left, I went behind her and wrapped my arms around her as she smiled.
"I love you, darling." I whispered
She smiles and leans into me. "I love you too." She says with a smile.
"Henry."
"Hmm?"
"I do love you, just I been on my feet all day and want to go home and sit down before I have to make us dinner." She says. "You're doing the thing where you keep me, prisoner, in your arms."
"I'm not doing anything of the sort," I said as I kept her trapped there before picking her up in my arms as she yelped out in shock.
"Henry!" Her arms instantly went around my neck and pressed close to me. "You know you have to warn me!"
She is pouting but not complaining that I did it I smirked. "How about we order in tonight, and we take a hot bath together."
She looked at me as her face went red but she smiled as I smiled back.
"You are so beautiful, and stunning, smart kind. You are also so good with kids." I say and kiss her she pulls back pulling me in deeper.
I pull away. "Not to mention your taste a bit like choclate~ Cannot wait for dessert tonight~"
Her face goes red and she hides it in my shirt. She had walls that were and still are hard to break down as she did not think she was good enough for love.
But she was good enough to love, I was mad for her. I'd do anything for her.
"Let's go~" he said smiling.
If that woman ever tried to come back and upset My Michelle. I may not be so nice next time. No One upsets My Sweet Michelle. No One.

Canvas | Original Fiction; T
Fictober prompt #1: “I choose you”
-
Trish and Seth were the coolest kids in middle school; so punk rock and not giving a damn. They chose to take Jane under their wing, the new kid, and she memorized the lyrics to all their favorite songs—some of them were like poetry, Jane liked those.
Trish helped her thrift the t-shirts with old British bands so that she could give all her goodie-two-shoes clothes to Goodwill. Seth taught her how to climb out of her window before they all snuck out to her first concert. The venue was stuffy and loud. Jane dripped in sweat and someone else’s beer, but she banged her head just like everyone else. Next time, she brought earplugs, but she never put them in.
The day Jane came back home with a mohawk on her head, mom looked like she was about to get a heart attack. Both about the hair and the stench of smoke. Jane and her best friends had shared a cigarette, while Seth was buzzing the long, mousy strands off the sides of her head. Trish used half a jar of hair gel to turn the chopped up top into thick spikes. Jane shivered when the wind grazed her bare skin.
She got grounded for the rest of the school year and half the summer. By the time August rolled in, Seth and Trish had a bunch of new friends they would be going to high school with.
Michelle was the type of girl who gets crowned the prom queen, not the type of girl who chooses to hang out with someone like Jane. But she needed help with literature classes, and Jane’s essay was loudly praised by the teacher that day. Jane didn’t mind writing two essays instead of one from then on, although making them sound like two different people was kind of tough. Still, she managed to squeeze the task in between shopping with Michelle, getting her hair bleached and nails done with Michelle, and sharing earphones with Michelle when they watched their favorite movies.
They grew inseparable and seen. When they walked down the corridor, the other students parted. Michelle taught Jane how to get perfect pics for Insta and how to flirt with the boys—but never keep them. Even when Jane got grounded for maxing out mom’s credit card, Michelle would sneak into her room through the window and tell her all the gossip from the parties she missed out on.
Until the day the only gossip everyone at school was talking about were all of Jane’s secrets she only revealed to one person, her best friend—her ex-friend—Michelle. At least, there wasn’t much school to suffer through after that, and Michelle moved to LA to become a movie star.
Gregory was like a dream. Law major, handsome, well-spoken, smart as hell. The rich family was a nice bonus, but Jane didn’t care about that. She cared that—somehow—he chose her. On their first date, he took Jane out to a fancy restaurant, the kind with big lobster tanks in the middle. She helped him throw his first charity banquet and the hundredth party on his father’s yacht. For the spring break, he took her to Hawaii, where he surfed and she sunbathed all day, and partied all night. All the girls from her classes were so jealous.
Jane’s mom was, at last, happy with Jane’s choices, because she finally found the right company, a good guy.
And she looked great too, didn’t she? With all the designer clothes and the beauty treatments Greg paid for, with those whitened teeth behind her plump lips. She had to look great; look the part. Not just some eye-candy: she had to act properly and think like a high-class woman would, too. And that’s who she was. In the end, his family grew to love her, too.
By then, Greg loved the free-spirited artist, more, the one he’d been cheating on Jane with for months. She was exciting and spontaneous, she loved poetry, too. She wasn’t proper or high-class. And, most of all, she wasn’t boring—that’s what Greg called Jane when she caught him in flagrante delicto.
Greg made Jane move out of their apartment, into some crappy place she rented with her savings.
It was hard to get used to being all alone, with nothing but Jane as company.
Because Jane is… Who is she, exactly? The heir’s bride (not) to be? The prom queen’s best friend? The punk rocker who doesn’t give a damn? Her mom’s polite, well-mannered daughter?
Looking back, it’s easy to see the string of people coming into her life and overtaking it—all of it—just as she let them. She flocked to others like a bird with no sense of direction; her own North Poles. Once her empty canvas got painted over into exactly what they wanted her to be, they got bored of her and moved on.
Only good for anything when a work in progress—and never hers.
She looks into the mirror. Who is Jane? The mousy roots peeking out from under the golden caramel dye? The puffy eyes from crying, the paling skin, and the lips slowly regaining their old shape and size? She’s shedding the latest layer of herself. Her borrowed self.
Maybe living alone for a while is not such a bad idea? Just with herself, with Jane, whoever she is. Maybe she can discover who she is when she’s not someone else’s chosen girl. She can find out what she likes.
That she likes her hair with no product in it, but a banging winged eyeliner on her face. That she prefers silence to music, and hash browns to caviar. That clothes fit her best when they suit her mood, not her singular identity.
“I choose you,” she says to her reflection in the mirror, feeling only a little awkward. A small smile blooms on her face. “I choose myself.”

Day 4 Off the beaten track and 22,579 steps to language school
After breakfast I headed to the gym to do my own (the exercise physio's) program which went pretty smoothly. It wasn't too crowded and I found what I needed. I still managed to miss a turn getting there!
After much fluffing around on the computer, I finally got out the door and headed to Alvor for lunch and my first Portugese lesson at Golfland (basically a putt putt). I posted a question about a month ago on a Facebook page enquiring about language classes and had one response, they put me in touch with Rebecca Cuddeford.
I thought I might walk based on the advice of the Canadian couple I met yesterday, although they indicated the coastal route was the one they took. Given my tardiness I decided to follow the maps.me instructions inland. I did notice the path seemed to go off road, but I went with it and saw a different side of the Algarve. It was quite warm today, around 20-21°, I felt the heat walking in the middle of the day. I was also feeling a tad adventurous, not knowing what might be around a corner, until I started listening to a podcast on the Women Who Travel, Condé Nast Traveler program. Alice Morrison walked across Morocco with three nomads and six camels over 7 months. I think she said she did 70,000kms!! Now that's adventure.
I booked lunch at Ria de Alvor at Wyndam Residences. I enjoyed my fresh herb crusted cod, sadly without wine. I just could not entertain the idea of a glass of Mateus and there was no other rosé by the glass. Later, one of the participants in the language school told me that she'd never eat there! Despite all my research prior to coming I had of course missed the main attractions in Alvor, the harbour and its restaurants, and some cute shops I saw on the way to the bus. This was also the case with Ferragudo yesterday, me in the industrial area, while apparently a different world awaits (realised after I did a review of my copious notes). Luckily I'm here for a while and can return.
I had thought about walking back along the coastal route into Praia da Rocha for gelato, but the language teacher advised against it on my own. The reason, the path is not always obvious and can crumble away! Falling off cliff tops before I actually retire is not something on my bucket list. I do have some women who responded to other Facebook posts I wrote (I sent messages to them today announcing my arrival) so I'll ask their advice and whether they'd like to join me. Otherwise Gary, who attended the class today, is a member of a walking group/s and knows everybody, according to the teacher! I had a lovely quick informative chat with Michelle and ?? about owning property in Portugal. They are still based in the UK, but holiday regularly in Portugal. They said they do pay tax in both countries, but there's some arrangement between Portugal and the UK.
It was a fast paced lesson. Rebecca moved to Portugal eight years ago and within four years started to teach. For €5 per hour payg there were about 15 of us. I was the only Australian and I think I heard all British and Irish accents, some sounded quite funny speaking Portugese. I think they were mostly retired, there was one guy who is an actor and he was switched on with it and sounded fabulous. It is an interesting language, there seems to be some German, French, Italian and maybe Spanish influences. Ricardo, the trainer at the gym last night, sounded like he was saying German words (maybe he was!). Anyway aside from Olá (Hi), obrigada (thank you), um galão (a frothy milky coffee), pastel de nata (Portugese tart), I can now practice Chamo-me Jody (my name is Jody), como estás (how are you?), muito benn (very good), quero uma cerveja (I'd like a beer!). We did practice what was taught last week and then moved on to months of the year and numbers.
I ended the outing with a triple scoop gelato (ricotta & café, pistacchio italiano and my preference, crosscantino & rum) from Gelateria Sorbetto, in Praia da Rocha, only a 12 minute walk from my apartment. It was excelente!
I'm pleased to announce the €2.99 (discounted from €5) bottle of rosé from Setúbal is drinkable. It went down well with my homemade (em casa) prawn fried rice, which was still edible with the notes of turps syrah splashed in as stock!

CJ court watch SCt social media cases
SCt decided two cases today, 15mar24, establishing rules for when government employees can block citizens from their social media. Both decisions were unanimous.
In the 1st case,  Lindke v. Freed, 601 U. S. __ (2024), James Freed was city manager of Port Huron, Michigan. He started a personal fb page in college and posted mostly information about his personal life. He began posting information about matters under his authority as city manager.
Enter Kevin Lindke. Unhappy with the city’s approach to the pandemic, Lindke visited Freed’s page and said so. For example, in response to one of Freed’s posts, Lindke commented that the city’s pandemic response was “abysmal” and that “the city deserves better.” When Freed posted a photo of himself and the mayor picking up takeout from a local restaurant, Lindke complained that while “residents [we]re suffering,” the city’s leaders were eating at an expensive restaurant “instead of out talking to the community.” Initially, Freed deleted Lindke’s comments; ultimately, he blocked him. Once blocked, Lindke could see Freed’s posts but could no longer comment on them. B Lindke sued Freed under 42 U. S. C. §1983, alleging that Freed had violated his First Amendment rights. As Lindke saw it, he had the right to comment on Freed’s Facebook page, which he characterized as a public forum. Freed, Lindke claimed, had engaged in impermissible viewpoint discrimination by deleting unfavorable comments and blocking the people who made them.***
The statute only applies to people acting under state authority.
if Freed acted in his private capacity when he blocked Lindke and deleted his comments, he did not violate Lindke’s First Amendment rights—instead, he exercised his own. So Lindke cannot hang his hat on Freed’s status as a state employee. The distinction between private conduct and state action turns on substance, not labels: Private parties can act with the authority of the State, and state officials have private lives and their own constitutional rights. Categorizing conduct, therefore, can require a close look.***
it is crucial for the plaintiff to show that the official is purporting to exercise state authority in specific posts. And when there is doubt, additional factors might cast light—for example, an official who uses government staff to make a post will be hard pressed to deny that he was conducting government business. One last point: The nature of the technology matters to the state-action analysis. Freed performed two actions to which Lindke objected: He deleted Lindke’s comments and blocked him from commenting again. So far as deletion goes, the only relevant posts are those from which Lindke’s comments were removed. Blocking, however, is a different story. Because blocking operated on a page-wide basis, a court would have to consider whether Freed had engaged in state action with respect to any post on which Lindke wished to comment.*** The state-action doctrine requires Lindke to show that Freed (1) had actual authority to speak on behalf of the State on a particular matter, and (2) purported to exercise that authority in the relevant posts. To the extent that this test differs from the one applied by the Sixth Circuit, we vacate its judgment and remand the case for further proceedings consistent with this opinion.
The second case is O'Connor-Ratcliff v. Garnier, 601 U. S. __ (2024). Michelle O’Connor-Ratcliff was a member of the Poway Unified School District (PUSD) Board of Trustees in California. She had a private fb page and a public one.
After [she and other petitioners] won election, the Trustees continued to use their public pages to post PUSD-related content, including board-meeting recaps, application solicitations for board positions, local budget plans and surveys, and public safety updates. They also used their pages to solicit feedback and communicate with constituents. Their Facebook pages described them as “Government Official[s]” and noted their official positions. O’Connor-Ratcliff also created a public Twitter page, which she used in much the same way****
Christopher and Kimberly Garnier often posted many critical comments. "The Trustees initially deleted the Garniers’ comments before blocking them from commenting altogether."
While the lower courts ruled in favor of the Garniers, their analysis differed from the Supreme Court's, so SCt sent the case back for proceedings consistent with Lindke.
I think if I were a government official who like social media, I would keep one public and one private page. I would make the distinction painfully obvious. I would probably also block all comment on the public page.

There is heat. Actual heat on my skin.
While Jen and I amble along the edge of St. Stephen’s Green I'm dimly aware that she’s saying something, and really, I should be listening because it is her birthday and she deserves my undivided attention, but the sun has just appeared from behind a building and for the first time in months I am experiencing its warmth on the side of my face. Months of dark, wet gloom have almost made me forget what this feels like. It’s a familiar rush, actually… MDMA. Yes. That’s what it's like.
Tumblr media
“Are you listening to me?” She says accusingly, and she snaps sharply into focus.
“Yes, of course.”
“Well then what did I just say?”
Tumblr media
“Um,” I peer around for clues. It is the fourteenth of March. The shops and restaurants surrounding the park have begun to put cheery little shamrocks in their windows, and the Shelbourne Hotel has hung tricolour flags up above the grand doorway. We squeeze in close to the iron railings to allow a slow moving crowd of Canadian tourists with fluffy green Viking hats, and Guinness t-shirts under their coats pass by. “Uh, you were saying that you hate St. Patrick’s day.”
Tumblr media
She scoffs, “Um, well, I do hate St. Patrick’s day, it’s gimmicky, but that’s not at all what I was saying,” she makes a swing for my arm and I manage to dodge her, “I can’t believe you weren’t listening to me on my birthday.”
“I’m listening now, sorry, sorry…” The sunshine glints between a gap in the bud laden branches overhead and I squint against it. God, that really is nice…
Tumblr media
“...driving me kind of crazy, like, honestly, if we could even talk about something else for a minute…”
Oh, shit. I focus really intently on what she’s saying. “Michelle,” I announce triumphantly, “This is about Michelle.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She rolls her eyes, “Yes. Of course. If someone could enact a ban on her going on and on about Evan all of the time, it’s like, Evan this, Evan that, ‘Evan is so sweet, he’s just not like those other boys’…”
I snicker, “Oh, they’re just in love. Don’t be such a misery guts.”
“Yeah, nobody goes on about it as much as them. I get it. It’s been like, six months now can they not just cool it?” She heaves out a sigh, “And I’m just saying, I’m not a selfish person, right?”
“Nuh uh, never.”
“But if we meet them in a minute and all they do is gaze lovingly into each other's eyes I’m going to be mad, okay? I’m going to be fully upset about it. It’s my birthday. They can bloody think of things to say to me.”
Tumblr media
I sling my arm around her as we amble through the gates of the park. The spring flowers are in full bloom now, and the smiling faces of the daffodils beam up at us from the borders along the path. “Of course they’ll make a fuss about you, Jenny, they’re not monsters. Yeah, they’re full on with the PDA and talking about their big feelings but they love you and they’ll want your birthday to be special.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Well, good,” she says primly, “This is my one day.”
“They’ll have me to answer to if they don’t behave.”
“Ooh, big scary Jude,” she giggles, “Will you shove them in a locker or flush their heads down the toilet?”
“I never did that to anyone!” I elbow her gently in the ribs, “who do you think I am?”
“Like I don’t remember the breast-pocket-ripping rampage you went on in first year!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We’re both tittering as we round the gentle curve of the path and are assaulted by the sight of Michelle and Evan in the grass by the Pavillion, lying horizontal and open mouthed kissing each other. I gasp and shield Jen’s eyes with my hand.
Tumblr media
“Ugh! No! Too late, I’ve seen them,” She cries, and I spin her around to me and get into her eye line instead so that she has something appealing to look at instead. “Do you think it’s too early in the year for ice cream?”
“No,” she says. “Are you gonna buy me some?”
“Yeah, as many scoops as you want. Maybe when we come back those two will have finished their little performance.”
“Ugh, yes please. How do you always know what I want before I do?”
I shrug, “talent.”
Tumblr media
“Jude Turner,” She shakes her head as we walk towards the exit together, “you're such a friend to women.”

The Damned Dance at Night Part 2
Tumblr media
PART I
TUESDAY
SEPTEMBER 1997
Chapter One: Joe’s Mixtape
How Bizarre – OMC
Joseph James regarded the pale blue sky while he ran his feet through the grass. He put his hands in the air and admired the coat of cobalt-blue polish on his nails with the paler background. They looked lovely.
It was the first day of school, but he didn’t care because he didn’t attend school; he was on his lunch break. He ate a piece of jerky and wished it were dried moose meat. It made him miss his Atsoo. She was soft and round, and she chewed tobacco and beaded moccasins. She had paid his way off the Rez.
His earbuds blasted Push It by Salt N Peppa. The drum machine hit hard, always on time, but the song pulsed with life.
He went over his plan one more time: work, save up money, leave the West Coast, fly out to New York and become a hairdresser. He planned to make the world more beautiful, one person at a time, starting with himself. The city had movie stars, musicians, artists, and professional basketball players. If everything went according to plan, he would have saved enough in a year to move out of his basement apartment and into a basement apartment in the city.
His lunch hour stretched out, and a fresh cool breeze blew across his shaved head. He clipped the one guard up the side to where his head rounded and then a two on top.
He daydreamed that he would work at the most beautiful salon and have designer clothes and shoes and a haircut other than what he’d done himself with a clipper.  THE Madonna would phone, “Listen, Joseph,” she would say, “my regular hairdresser has come down with rheumatoid arthritis. I need your services. My roots are out of control, and my ends are a tragedy. Please! I need you.”
“Madonna, I’m busy,” he would say, “with Janet Jackson. I might be able to fit you in. But -- I’m so busy.”
“Name your price,” Madonna would say, “You’re the BEST.”
“A cool half million,” he would reply, “But you have to tell me the deets on Tupac and Dennis.”
“And Jean-Michel,” she would say, and Madonna would become his best friend.
He succumbed to the cushion of grass and looked up at the clouds. He picked out soft shapes and named them ‘dog-faced horse’ and ‘venomous spider monkey.’ There was a dreamlike quality to today, and it made Joseph feel beautiful.
Me against the World started playing. Pac was a poet. His anger felt real, and the third verse was incredible.
He knew it wouldn’t be easy. No one was coming to save him; he had to save himself—just him against the world.
His thoughts drifted to basketball. There was a game tonight. He watched every Chicago Bulls game. He loved Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and especially Dennis Rodman. Dennis was the hardest-working player and always had the most fantastic hair (pink, purple, leopard print). Dennis had tattoos and piercings and was the first man he had ever seen in a wedding dress. He looked so beautiful in that dress.
Joseph was a solid baller himself. He was quick, wiry, and just as likely to steal the ball from you as pump-fake you into the air. He was the type of guard you wanted on your team: he could shoot the three-ball, pass into tight traffic, and be a fierce defender. More specifically, His defense was maddening to those he played against. He bodied you hard from half-court and made you pay for every step. He made your life miserable on the court. He knocked you just enough if a ref was watching, and if you were playing Rez ball, he hacked at your arms until you couldn’t hold the ball properly. He worked a lot, but he still shot around at one of the nearby schools when he had the time.
He struggled to rise from the comfortable lawn and returned to the restaurant. His manager greeted him with a cold smile that drained his confidence. It was frowned on that he’d left the restaurant to eat his lunch outside. White people: they were always watching you. He put his apron on and headed into the bustling kitchen. He was looking forward to finishing work. He had promised himself a present, the mall had a two-for-one special on piercings, and he planned on taking advantage of it.
Chapter Two: Sam’s Mixtape
Basket Case – Green Dayhttps://open.spotify.com/embed/track/6L89mwZXSOwYl76YXfX13s
1997 was the worst year, and Sam Graves had decided to end it; he was going to kill himself on Friday night. Punk and comics weren’t working as diversions anymore; all he could think about was death.
Green Day’s Dookie played on his yellow Walkman. It clicked and whirred annoyingly as it played. Its chassis was made of bright canary yellow industrial-strength plastic scarred from carelessness. He carried it with him everywhere.
Tapes were cheaper than CDs, but he wanted a Discman. All the cool kids had them, but he didn’t classify himself as cool; he felt like everyone overlooked him. He stuffed his Walkman further into the bottom of his jacket pocket, pushing his fists into the denim, hoping no one could see how poor he was.
Welcome to Paradise’s solo kicked in, and his stride quickened to the bass drum. He was halfway to school. It was the first day of his senior year, and he had just turned seventeen. He hardly remembered the party. There was a montage of cake and presents in his head, muddied by his depression.
When I Come Around started playing as he stopped to look at his High School across the street. He noticed most kids had all-new clothes, shoes, and backpacks and looked down at his outfit, feeling embarrassed. He had picked up used Levi’s that were too big for him, a second-hand Rolling Stones tongue-logo shirt and an old black jean jacket that he tie-dyed himself.
He felt poor and stupid. He didn’t want to be here. He turned up his music, put his head down and walked forward.
Chapter Three: Kim’s Mixtape
Energy Flash – Joey Bertram
Kim stopped at the fridge to grab a beer on her way out of the house. It was the first day of school after a fantastic summer. She slipped on her pink gumboots, popped the top off her Budweiser with the flick of a wrist, and bounded out the front door.
The first school day was always disappointing, and she planned on ditching. Kim walked down her driveway, taking small sips of her beer and scheming. She stopped, took a slug of beer, and admired her two-door 1986 AMC Eagle 4x4, a blocky black vehicle that resembled a tank more than a car.  She drove it over everything. She took it everywhere, off-road down thin trails to beaches, over meridians in the center of the road; whatever she threw at the Eagle, it took and kept going.
Kim took her last sip of beer and poured the rest on the front lawn before entering the Eagle and firing the bottle into the backseat. She turned the engine over, felt it ‘BRRMMMM’ to life underneath her, and surveyed the road.
She barreled along the roads to the school, following Sarah’s route. Sarah was her best friend. She enjoyed walking -- said it was an excellent way to clear her chakras and invigorate her mind.
Kim liked driving. Peasants walked.
She placed her hand on the black onyx necklace Sarah had gifted her. It protected her from negative energy and made her patient and determined. She wasn’t sure about the patience piece, but she felt more determined with the necklace. She felt optimistic about her senior year.
She noticed someone walking down the sidewalk. What was his name? He strutted with his headphones on and looked rugged and handsome with tousled auburn hair and jeans worn out in the ass and knees. He looked like he never straightened his shoulders because he wanted to appear smaller. His jaw looked chiseled, but not from working out, more like from grinding his teeth together. Was his name Nick? Didn’t he use to be a soccer player or something? He was mysterious. Did he hang out with the skids or the nerds now?
She arrived at school and noticed Sarah in the gravel parking lot, chatting with one of the Goths. She drove over to her and turned up her music. The stereo flooded the parking lot with Mental Cube’s Q. She skidded to a stop, spraying gravel, and Sarah turned around with a smile. Kim jumped out, leaving the car running and the stereo blaring. Sarah’s face went bright red, but she smiled and danced along.
“Who’s this hot boy?” she said, “Too hot to stay at school today.” She ushered Sarah to her car. “We need beers and bikinis and a beach.”
Sarah pulled away, pondering the right course of action, and then piled into the passenger seat, “Okay,” she said, “but get us out of here before someone sees us.” Kim got into the driver’s seat, hit the gas, and nearly ran into ‘Nick.’
“Hey, you!” Kim shouted, “What’s your name? Nick?”
“No,” he said quietly, “My name is Sam.”
“What are you doing today?”
“Nothing,” he said, staring at his feet.
“Well, how about you hop in with some babes, and we go to the beach?” She looked at Sarah for verification, and she shrugged.
“Well, I don’t….”
She grinned at him, “Last chance.”
“Sure,” he stammered, and Sarah got out and let him climb into the back of the car. His face was flushed red from excitement.
Kim snickered to herself and hit the gas.
Chapter Four: Sam’s Mixtape
Until It Sleeps - Metallicahttps://open.spotify.com/embed/track/63aVbch5VRXtQnCITdeDTZ
Sam stood in the back of the CD store, browsing the metal section to put space between himself and his schoolmates.
“Whatcha looking at?” Kim surprised him, looking over his shoulder at the CD he held. She plunked her chin on his shoulder, grinning from ear to ear. Sam felt her breasts on his back, and his breath quickened. Her energy was frenetic, haphazard, chaotic, and provocative. It was hard to break away once you got sucked into her gravity field. She was incredibly charismatic.
“Metallica.”
“Oh yeah. Those guys used to be cool. Back when they had long hair. They sold out and cut it off.” Kim picked up the album Load. “I heard they mixed all their blood and semen for the cover image. You might get AIDS from the album.”
She rubbed the album on him. He backed away, and the album clattered to the floor. Kim laughed at him as he bent to pick it up, “You can’t get AIDS from just touching something,” she changed topics, “What do you want to do? We’ll buy some hot bikinis and then head to the river. We could bring a picnic. Go grab a couple of beers.”
Sam’s heart leaped into his throat. Beer? He didn’t drink.
“That sounds great,” he heard himself say, and he immediately regretted it. Sam’s heart pounded in his chest.
“And I’ve got magic mushrooms at my place that I’ve been saving for a special occasion. We should get those too.”
Sam looked down at his feet. He sighed and looked back up at Kim’s beaming face.
“It’ll be great. Trust me,” she said, “I might even let you listen to Metallica in the car.”
