#while Ruby could've ended up the same way

Now that I'm home and can actually write out my thoughts, I have a lot to say with this episode.
And for starters, this post isnt here for anyone to start arguments, these are just my thoughts on the episode and theories to come for the last 2.
Let me just say that that episode was pretty fucked up and I enjoyed every moment of it. The way Ruby was framed running, not quite sure where she was after leaving in a fit of rage, the way she starts succumbing to her depression as she realizes that people near her get hurt while also recognizing that she was just not ready for any of this.
Her fight with Neo was not what I expected for visuals, the way Neo's semblance was used to air our her own grief and pain, and the way she tormented Ruby with people that she knew and, in her mind, failed. Pyrrha, the friend she couldnt save, Penny, someone who meant the world to her and couldnt save twice, Ozpin, the headmaster that she hadnt been able to live up to, Lionheart, the headmaster who's trust was betrayed, Clover and Ironwood, essentially the two halves of Atlas that she failed in different ways, none of which were her fault.
And then the way Neo just... broke after Ruby was "killed", the way that once she had gotten the revenge she wanted, she started questioning herself if this is what she really wanted.
The way everything was written and animated was beautiful to showcase just how broken these two individuals were in their own ways. Ruby having a burden thrust onto her shoulders, not ready and constantly feeling like she needed to be there for her team and everyone else because she's the leader. That she's kept pushing everything down and bottling it up because she never learned how to do anything else. Between Taiyang shutting down, Yang picking up the pieces where she could, her mother dying, watching two schools get destroyed and nearly dying at another, feeling like she's failed after letting two relics get into Salem's hands and not being able to save another friend.
And Neo, consumed by despair and loss of the only person that truly understood her, betrayed by someone who said she could help and then breaking once she realizes that her revenge didnt fix anything. Roman didnt come back, her semblance starts to break as her old home started to collapse around her, suffering all the consequences of single minded revenge because just like Ruby, she never knew how to cope with her own pain.
These are two girls, two sides of the same coin, dealing with the pain and the hurt that they carry in their own, self destructive ways.
And if the cat really is telling the truth that nothing in the Ever After actually dies, that ascension is what replaces it, Ruby may use that to her advantage once she's able to "ascend" to who she really is as Ruby Rose. Especially after the way broke down saying she doesnt want to be herself anymore. With the way the Tree loomed over as Ruby was taken down into the ground, its going to help her in the only way it'll know how: by letting her choose who Ruby Rose is meant to be.
And god, the cat. The curious cat, cursed with curiosity to gain knowledge and utterly broken by their creators leaving. If the Brothers of Light and Dark did actually end up creating the Ever After, I wonder if that was before or after they split into two separate beings. Or if its possible that they werent involved at all and it ended up being Oz and Salem. Next two episodes is definitely going to give us a lot of answers, a lot of questions, and show us the way out of the Ever After, only to let us stew on where our heroes will end up.

can i request a yandere gilbert blythe where it's his and the readers' wedding day? and then maybe including at the end them "cuddling" in bed together but it's really him holding her tightly whispering about some future together while she cries
sorry if that's a little morbid, i just thought it'd be a cool part two to the first one you posted
Tumblr media
Arranged Pt 2
Yandere Gilbert Blythe x reader
I only write sfw, feel free to make requests. Thank you for asking!! Kinda short and not proof read. Enjoy :)
I love you..." his voice rings in your ears.
"You're so beautiful..." his words make your skin crawl.
"Are you listening?" You have no choice.
From the moment your mother made you let him in to the note on the school board to shuffling down the isle this morning, you were miserable.
Possibly the only enjoyable part of this was seeing how proud your mother was the whole way through. She had fixed up her old wedding dress and fitted it to you. She made you up like a doll for the ceremony. And as your father walked you down the isle you could see tears falling from her eyes. He was so happy. It would have been discomforting if you had thought too much into it though.
Gilbert stared in astonishment as you walked down the aisle in the church. When you arrived at the altar you wanted so badly to repeat the same actions as  Prissy had. Run out of the church and into the field. But you couldn't bring yourself to do it.
After the ceremony the reception was held. Your family and friends all told stories of both you and Gilbert- which were very much exaggerated for the occasion.
Anne had written a poem, Josey made a few snide comments, Ruby talked up every interaction you'd had with Gilbert as if she hadn't been in love with him just a year ago.
It all made you so sick that you couldn't even swallow your food.
Finally you were here. In Gilbert's home. Bash in the room next door caring for his baby, and Gilbert hugging you from behind, his face in the crook of your neck.
"Are you listening Y/N?" He repeats, giving your body a small squeeze. You nod, tears sliding down your cheeks and over your nose. "I'm sorry..." he takes a deep breath.
"For what?" You ask, knowing the answer. He'd done this countless of times in the last few months. Apologizing but never changing.
"I want you to be happy..." you don't respond. It's easier to tune him out. "I'm aware you didn't want thus marriage..." you've fought him every step of the way on this. "So I'm sorry for forcing this onto you..." he's not sorry. He's quite right happy with himself. "But I do love you." The tears begin streaming down your face. "and I'll make sure you're happy. We can have a happy little family- if you want!" He stutters a bit. "We don't have to have kids if you don't want any. It's up to you." He thinks for a second. "It could just be us- and Bash and Delphine, of course."
This isn't love, to you. It's possession. It's kidnapping. It's grotesque and disgusting. Love is supposed to be flowery and sweet.
Maybe you could've had a real romance if Gilbert had approached you correctly; Walked up to you in class, talked to you about your day, invited you over for a nice meal and took your wants and needs into consideration. But that's not what he did. He went to your parents, who gave him his guaranteed spouse. It was as if nothing you thought or felt mattered.
"I love you, Y/N..." he leans over and kisses you on the cheek. "You don't have to say it back." Then reaches over and blows out the candle.
You rub your eyes dry and your cheek raw.

christmas cookies
it's christmas now in my timezone. so happy holidays from unit 4402, and a lovely winter ahead. please stay warm comfy and loved wherever you are. this was inspired by a george strait song of the same name sans vox. he is one of the few country artists i trust. please be kind to him and enjoy my guilty pleasure corny christmas music fave
(btw i've always wanted vox to do a karaoke and sing at least one george strait song i just know he'd eat it up. tbh christmas cookies is the song i associate with vox the most even more than new cydonia. you have to understand how important the imagery of vox singing this song is to me i can't describe it in words nor fanfic)
tags: gender neutral reader, established relationship, fluff, food descriptions
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
A comfy night in while the air turns icy outside. Your home runs warm, especially as you pass by the oven, and when you lean over Vox's wing-and-shoulder to watch him mix some icing together.
"Pass me the powdered sugar, Reader?"
"Sure thing."
"Thank you, baby."
Before you can utter any sweet nothings back to him the oven interrupts you as the timer goes off. You slip on one of Vox's mitts (a ruby red with a paw-print pattern and a scorch mark on the side, what were you expecting) and open the oven door.
The sweet smell of freshly baked cookies pours out from the oven, and as you set them on the cooling rack the scent grows only more enticing. Vox insisted on making cookies from scratch this year rather than from a box, and you have to admit, you don't even need to sneak a bite to admit he was right. The scent and golden-brown color is already miles ahead of the batches you made alone in the past.
The heat spreads behind you, trademark Vox and his demonic blood. Your suspicions are confirmed once he peers over your shoulder just as you did, and swipes an oven-hot cookie from the rack.
"What the—Vox!" You lightly slap his hand. "Those are hot!"
"I was born in Hell," he says, mouth full of cookie. He swallows. "Mmm, tasty."
"They aren't even frosted yet!"
"It's a good goddamn cookie, Reader, what do you want me to do, say they taste like charcoal?"
"No, Vox, I want you to be patient and wait for them to cool and decorate them like a normal person before eating them! We're going to have a full bowl of icing and no cookies to ice if you keep taking them like that!"
He pops another cookie into his mouth much to your playful dismay. "What kind of normal person doesn't eat a cookie straight out of the oven?" Then he takes another, places it on a napkin, and sets it on the counter in front of you. "Would having a cookie yourself make you feel better?"
"Normal people that don't have heat resistance like you." You stare down at the cookie. It has a soft crack through the side from cooling improperly, so of course it would be perfect for a taste test. "But... thanks."
Vox brightens. "Eat up. Er, in ten to fifteen minutes when cooled."
You nod, and watch as Vox shovels cookie dough onto a new pan. You snuck a tiny Santa hat onto one of his horns earlier this evening, and even now the pompom at the end sways as he moves the next batch into the oven.
The oven settings chirp, chirp, chirp until the temperature and timer is set.
"Should be fine to eat your cookie once those are out of the oven," he says. Baking your holiday sweets was an equal effort, but his lips are curved upwards and his wings raise in quiet pride. "I can tell you what it tastes like if you're too impatient to wait."
He's right. You're impatient. So you take Vox's hand to lower him just enough for your mouth to meet his.
You return back down from your tiptoes a second later, sugar on your tongue and sweetness all the way through. "Damn, we did great."
He scoffs but his wings let out a happy little flap. "If you wanted me to kiss you, you could've just asked."
"Well, we have—"your eyes flit to the timer—"Ten minutes until the next batch is done." You squeeze his hand. "Gotta spend the time somehow."
The corners of Vox's lips curve a little higher. He sweeps you up only to seat you on the clean side of the counter, just so you can see that eager, dorky little grin at eye-level, wings around you and arms on either side. "'Tis the season for giving, mm?"
"Cheeky bastard." You close your eyes as if you were irritated, but you're the one that leans in first, and the taste of the cookies spreads through your mouth as the minutes go by.

Maw of The King
♡⃕ Bakugou Katsuki, gn!Reader
this was inspired by Cami-cat's DnD song called Maw of The King!! I really recommend you guys to check her music :)
Tumblr media
As Bakugou, Prince of the Dragons, reluctantly follows Deku and his group of nutcases to a village called Galelrius, he wasn't expecting to be capacitive by a local Edhel that looks strangely alike to a curtain earth-toned Edhel, with the exception of a few scars littered about on their face along with the freckles that danced along with those scars and a change of wardrobe that fit perfectly on their form. Bakugou thought he wouldn't be memorized simply by voice, yet here he was, at a table in a bar: ruby eyes awestricken at the Edhel on the stage.
Their voice commanding the audience to synchronize with their song: clapping and dancing to the beat of the accordion that fit perfectly in their hands that flows within the tavern. Even he could feel the cheeriness and excitement radiating from the green haired bastard's party.
But yet, he could care less with the way said bastard kept sending knowing glances with Round Face. The elf danced elegantly, not once tripping over their feet as Bakugou could feel their voice shake the pub as countless of others' echoes after. Be it laughter or the townspeople voices tag along with the lyrics of the song but not once overbearing the elf's.
The Edhel's song is bout of a King who once lurked in the depths of the blue sea. Many of the people of this village who have tried to take down the crown of the beast but had returned with nothing but memories of those people and some who had returned with nothing but terror and grief. Yet still, with determination and spite and justice as their sword, they had lead a group of paladins to defeat the monster that no longer lives.
And for a moment, he swears it was just a moment, but yet he has no idea why it felt like an eternity when he and the Edhel eyes had located each other. And even within those few moments the elf did not faulter with their overwhelming performance. And within those few moments he could've felt electrical spark between them.
The accordion within the elf's hand echoed slower throughout the pub as the lights dimmed with a reverberating sound, the people within the walls had stopped dancing and the people had stopped clapping and stomping who once had. The Edhel, whose voice once strong enough to shake the taverns walls had reduced into the softest of mellows he had ever heard, yet still had the firmness which lingers within.
"It was darker than night, in the maw of the beast. All I could taste was my blood and the sea. But even as I knew the end was approaching, I knew he was waiting for me."
"You want to know what I did?" Your voice echoed within the silence of the pub.
"So what did you do?!" The crowd declared to know with their fists clenched, some on tables and some in the air.
"You want to know what I did?!" You repeated, the roughness and fearlessness in your voice reverberated throughout the pub once more as you threw your fist in the air while the other still holds your instrument.
"What did you do?!" The crowd roared, the ones who has been sitting had jumped and followed your movement, throwing their own fists in the air. The new commers' voices filled the air with curiosity and excitement while the regulars voices are filled with astonishment and pride yet they still had the same excitement as the new commers.
"I'll tell ya what I did, I screamed louder than lightning, burned The King inside out!" You hollered and once again threw your fists in the air. Your voice filled with pride and justice as once again the tavern was filled with excitement and joy as the townspeople started to dance once more. And this time, Bakugou was caught within the crowd of the people.
And this time, he couldn't see the way your eyes lit up when you had spotted him within the crowd. Dancing, rather clumsy, with your brother's friends. He couldn't see the way your smile reached your eyes, though he could hear the way your voice went from a booming firecracker into a soft and fluffy cloud. And when he had gotten to seek your form once more, your were already bowing and the crowd was hollowing with cheers and claps as the curtains started to close.
He couldn't see the way you were smiling, abit a small one and yet it still held with the same adoration as he first walked within the pub that rests within your village. And you could only hope that he would visit again.

Next penelope post?
Yang continued to blink tears out of her eyes. Watching one's sister that they raised effectively kill themself will leave one rattled, but Jaune's talk was enough to get her up on her feet.
Blake clung to her arm, giving small reassuring glances and soft squeezes into her hand. It made the pain bearable, but only barely.
The five of them, Jaune, and _WBY were stepping through the Paper Pleaser's acre, making their way to Jaune's cabin.
Weiss: If no one minds me asking, what are you going to do?
Jaune: Penelope believed I could get to the tree, and that we'd find her and Ruby again, or, whoever they became. I think being able have a break, to not have to save ... I- uh.
Jaune: *Looking over the flooded village* This'll be the first time in a long time I've had some time to think and make a plan without any interruptions.
Weiss: *Grabbing Jaune's arm* I can't say I understand what it would be like to see ... to go through anything you've been through in your time here, but the fact you're still here? We're all really thankful for it.
Jaune: ... Thanks Weiss.
???: Excuse me?
They all turn towards the voice, a small, star shaped gem colored red 'stared' at them in return.
???: Hello! I am a Genial Gem! Do you need help with anything?
Jaune: A Genial Gem?
GG: Yes! It is our job to beautify and improve acres, while also assisting the residents in them. Is there anything I could help you with?
Jaune: Uh, N-no. You can go ahead.
GG: Thank you! Simply call out for one of us if you need assistance! *Plods away*
Jaune: What- that ...
Yang: They did say they wanted to be like you. Sturdy. Longstanding.
Jaune: I made them change like that? Even though I kept them from ascending?
Blake: Yeah. You spent your days trying to keep them from falling apart, and getting waterlogged. You inspired them to be sturdier, and tougher, to be longer lasting. Like Yang said, they wanted to be like you.
Jaune: ... I kept them from changing.
Weiss: Jaune, that's-
Jaune: No, what I mean is - Sorry for interrupting - What I mean is that They change. Who they are, what they are, but not in the way we change. I'm not the kid that snuck his way into Beacon, that person is from a lifetime ago. So are the Paper Pleasers to them.
Jaune: *Watching the GG's make the Statue out of water* Maybe the way they change is different, but it's their way of growing. It was wrong of me to stop them. It'd be wrong of us to try and make Penelope or Ruby Change, or to keep them from changing without them asking for our input.
Yang: ... I guess that's true. I just wish i could've helped Ruby out more.
Jaune: *Placing a hand on Yang's Shoulder* Yeah, I get that. It's not exactly the same, but I wish I could've helped Pyrrha. In the end we all we can do is support those around us. Plus, whoever Ruby becomes will be whatever Ruby is at heart. Maybe you won't love them the same way, no one could replace Ruby, but you can still support them.
Yang: ... Has anyone ever told you you're charismatic?
Jaune: Unfortunately no, but I'm glad to hear it.
Blake: Uh, hey, sorry to interrupt the sweet moment, but there are leaves drifting towards us?
Yang: ... that's out Ticket outta here, right?
Jaune: I think so. Whatever, I'm ready to face it.
Weiss: *reaching out for a leaf* So if we ascend, we just choose ourselves?
Yang: That's my Idea. Someone has to take care of dad!
Yang snatched a leaf mid-air, crushing it in her hand. She dissolved into a thin, Sun-yellow mist that flew towards the tree. Jaune, Weiss, Blake, and Juniper Followed suit.

OOH OH OH what if trolls x su au takes place after world tour or in trollstopia when branch is finally started to move on but come across the rejuvinator (made by the funk trolls btw cause who else would be technologically advanced to create a device like that) and I don't know if he decides to forward with the plan like spinel or if there's an external force in this
I was so focused on the su part of the au that i completely forgot what to do with the trolls timeline whoops 💀
I might have a potential way of how the timeline goes.
So we know in tbt that the hideout was something branch and floyd were gonna make when he came back. In this au the hideout was already made and it was where brozone hung out the most. It's also where the break up happened and where floyd asked branch to stay until he returned. Only brozone knows the location of the hideout so when the escape from bergen town happened the village didn't know branch was living there so they assume he died.
The first movie and world tour is probably going to be mostly the same minus branch being there.
(Maybe a bit after world tour)
John dory discovers new pop village. He comes across peppy who tells him the news of branch's death. After that JD searches for his brothers to tell the news. Because of the news brozone decides they should try to be a family again because they feel guilty for branch's death, thinking if one of them had stayed they could've protected him or if they had talked it out the break up never would have happened and branch would still be alive. So they talk it out and learn to forgive each other.
Maybe some times passes and that's when poppy wants to make trollstopia. When they finish it (which probably took a few months) they're going to throw a party to celebrate the start of trollstopia and brozone is gonna perform after 20 years. In the beginning they weren't so sure about it but in the end agreed to do it for branch. So poppy starts spreading invitations all over troll kingdom. While she is doing that, branch is foraging for food (it's the only time he goes outside and when he is, he tries to go back to the hideout asap just to make sure he doesn't miss floyd when he returns) and discovers one of the invitations. This is how he finds out that floyd was never going back for him. So while they're preparing the party that is when branch shows up.
About the injector and rejuvinator. Yeah they're definitely created by the funk trolls because I don't know who else could make something so advanced. The problem is that i have no idea yet how branch would know that and how he would take it. So im gonna have to figure that out.
The rejuvinator is probably going to be made out of some special gem because we know that in ttbgo they have some very strange gems in their world (an example the switcher-ruby).
And there is no external force at play here. Idk if I'm going to be able to explain this well. branch has been suffering severely mentally (being isolated for 20 years and staying in denial that floyd would return really messed him up) so when he finally has a confirmation that floyd will in fact not return, all these emotions just come crashing down on him. So what he does is let out all his anger and pain onto his brothers. He is not at a good place rn in his mind. He's feeling all that pain that he's been trying to repress for years. It's after the final fight with floyd when he tired himself out that he has the realisation of what he's doing. (I'm sorry if this isn't right I'm not really good with mental health stuff)

Do you think, if Sam and Dean had a sexual relationship in the early seasons, would it have worked? Or would it have had an impact on their decisions? I personally don't think it would've worked especially during the season 4 and 5 arc, 'coz, Sam was actively trying to slip out of Dean's control and Dean was actively trying to keep Sam in control. Even though canonical sexual encounters of both the brothers suggest Sam being in control and Dean not with their hookups. I believe they are totally different with each other. Like in a give or take type of way. So while they were both trying to be in control of their problems/decisions IRL, would it have affected their sex life if they were actually fucking? Sexual dynamic being a parallel to their canonical dynamic kind of way? Just wanted to know what you think of it. Also I read 'Hungry and Hollow' by hathfrozen : archiveofourown.org/works/34206757 recently and it could've gone that way. Really. Set in season 4 and is sooooooo good. If u haven't read it yet, you should. They are just so fucked up and I loved it. Kind of an analysis of their fucked up unhealthy relationship at that point.
i think it really really depends on what you mean by "relationship" and "worked" here
i don't have much issue imagining a verse in which they cross that boundary and have sexual encounters with one another in those years and we still keep mostly to canon.
one way i can see it play out is boundary crossing in teen years that they play off and doesn't have a romantic feel to it, just tight quarters and - teen stuff, whatever. doesn't count.
and then the mess of emotions that is season one and not picking that back up, or at least not quickly. maybe in mid-late season one, adrenaline fueled and post-hunt desperation and 'can't believe we didn't die' and it's rushed, furious, in the mud and leaning against the side of the impala, foreheads pressed together and breathing the same air and hands on themselves and then on each other, bitten off gaps and angry noises and curses and tipping over the edge one shortly after the other and a moment to breathe and come down before they hurtle apart. clap each other on the back, good job, good hunt. don't talk about it or examine it or whatever. it doesn't count. they aren't going there, aren't going to examine it.
then dad dies and they're a mess, hurtling in a painful polarized orbit around one another, with sam at his wit's end going for some false starts, not overtly but subtly, plausible deniability, and dean rebuffing him. and that being painful and confusing and anger-ifying, especially when dean's making doe eyes at gordon walker and sam knows he's hiding shit of some sort. and then croatoan comes along and the script flips and sam's abuzz with tense restless energy that he won't risk slipping out, and you've got dean trying to bridge the gap. it tumbling close a few times, playthings, and then meg's possession. and i think dean's desire to fix it and take care of sam could lead to some almost false-starts from him, but sam doesn't want to be taken care of, he wants to be taken care of.
i can see it going either way, circling each other and going no where, or else tumbling sideways, half-drunk and jaws pressing to each other's, breathing in the other's ear, smell of whiskey, hands roaming and demanding and too hot and too present but enough to get them there, possibly with a growl or a sob when they reach that peak, possibly with a stolen, angry kiss they have no right to take but all the entitlement to demand. a morning after where they pretend it didn't happen, tense and choppy and then, well, ahbl.
and then you've got the year to live, the sold soul, the depth of that action splaying out things they can't say, and sam trying to come to terms with that shocking reality, what dean's done for him (trying to come to terms with what azazel showed him about himself as a baby, hiding that his mother recongized azazel, and all the ruby shit as she starts weaving a mystery for him about his past and his mother), and dean's trying to shore up his defenses and not feel so exposed considering he just sold his soul, he put it all on the line, there's no hiding how intensely he feels about sam, how bright that burns.
so we get these sort of jumps and starts again, these intense moments and them both feinting, parrying, retreating, like a dance or fight, but crashing together too. that entitlement over each other, the desperation of too little time, the unraveling of sam's psyche and mystery spot, the deepening of dean's anxiety and the realization that he's going to be come a demon after he goes to hell. so it's got the fever pitch of the ticking clock and the anger and snarling vexation of being at odds over how to deal with this and it's urgent and painful and lights out and no way to talk about it or face what it is but they're clinging to each other.
this is where i think it could cross the line into blowjobs, into penetrative sex even maybe. sam's desire to have more of dean, hold onto him and consume him. dean's desperate desire to be saved, to be held, to make sam okay at the same time. it would be messy.
they wouldn't know how to address any of it before dean dies. it's not about being 'in love'. it's not monogamous, it's not romantic. it's something terrifying and intense and there's a point at which sam would be annoyed at pretending it's not happening but he'd probably bite it back in the face of all the other more critical conversations they need to have, the other more important things he needs to convince dean of. and dean, well he's damned anyway, but looking right at it would be terrifying because what if it damns sam. but it can't, it's dean's fault, his responsibility, and he's taking that downstairs with him.
and then - dean is resurrected. and sam is different. and distant. and that's new, or renewed. and they don't, and that's smart. that's better. dean enjoys getting back in that saddle with a beautiful blonde and it's fun and he's not looking to sam for that. that was - grief, and soul-selling desperation insanity, and dean's got hell shit to cope with and - and then it turns out they've been lying and hiding things from each other and sam is fucking around with his powers still and again and it's all -
hard, jagged, and hurt.
and then sam tells dean about what he was up to when dean was dead and then they meet and save ana and dean sleeps with her and things start to even-out a bit. the episode Family Remains with the parent x child incest comes along and they're both uncomfortable, not touching the - all of that. the weird gnarly dynamic that developed between dean and john that sam still doesn't know how to look at, that dean still doesn't know how to sort out emotionally either (and this is all your mileage may vary, as to whether that gnarly relationship was exactly purely canonical in its fucked up-ness or goes deeper, but there is no denying that dynamic was messed up).
but maybe in and around then they tumble toward each other, that gravitational pull, but not in anger. it's hesitant, long questioning looks, door open when they shower, announcing the possibility but each too careful to throw caution totally to the wind again. closeness, charged moments, slipping toward some potential alignment.
and then the siren comes along and fucks them up horribly. and alistair. so it's not till zachariah tosses them into his office AU and they get a sense of reset and intense attraction and then they're on the same page in their anger, and sam makes the first move, and dean makes a high noise in his throat at the sudden shift but doesn't slow it down and they weren't drunk, weren't high on adrenaline, weren't stuck in the mud by the side of the impala, and fuck. when they pull apart and the lights are on and it's not 4am, what the fuck do they say here?
so the awkwardness is new, and new too when they meet chuck, and they are still in a strange place when they meet adam (aka the ghoul masquerading as adam) but sam is feeling more confident in it all than dean, right up until -
yeah, the demon blood thing puts a damper on whatever the hell was developing there.
season 5 is a special kind of pain. and no, it doesn't, can't persist through most of that. not with how they are and where they are with each other. sam so apologetic but also bullish until lucifer comes along, and with a fresh, blunt honesty with dean. and dean, miserable with sam and with where the last year, years, have brought them, where this apocalypse is hurtling them.
but somewhere around the midpoint, feeling a bit more even around each other as of changing channels (with a bit of fisting thrown in for fun) and the supernatural fan convention (the homoerotic subtext thereof), settling in to the possibility again, at least of - something. brotherhood, camaraderie, comparative ease. possibly that 'last night on earth' line working better on sam than it did on jo before trying to shoot lucifer with the colt and losing jo and ellen. possibly them holding each other in the dark, dean initiating because sam can't, and sam more vulnerable than any other time they've done this, more open and supplicant, and that strange new layer in their dynamic that didn't exist before.
this energy and give and take and fresh trust and vulnerability, especially from sam, carrying them through most of the season, with its hurts and pains and Dark Side of the Moon hurtling a new unfathomable layer between them. dean at the point of feeling both like sam doesn't feel the same as whatever it is he's feeling and simultaneously like - soulmates, it fucking figures, he's not even in control of his fucked up incest tryst, even that was angels and fate. sam starting to really foreclose on what he sees as the best, only, way to stop lucifer.
it's not like season 3 where things get charged like a lightning strike or explosive like a car crash. it's a different kind of desperation -- more forlorn, more needy, like they can fuck fate out of each other, can make the world and destiny and everything slow down and wait if they can hold on to this moment, can save each other. even if they don't think the other feels the same. even if dean feels rejected and sam feels like he isn't worthy. they don't have much left to hold on to.
-
so -- i can't speak for any other fics or takes on it, and this is just one. but yeah, i can see it 'working' if they started a sexual relationship then, for certain values of 'working'.
but i never imagine them as monogamous, nor do i imagine them as really defining their relationship as something like "we are in a relationship", not until much much later. they're sort of forced to face that wording after s8's finale when they finally say some things out loud that needed saying for a long time, and before that in the season committed to each other in a pretty substantial way, and eventually they're settled and might acknowledge/accept the phrasing.
so if that's what you're thinking, them in a closed/monogamous relationship where that would be how they see or define it... no, i don't think that would end well in early seasons, and considering all the other stuff they're up to and with whom, that would be painful and not in any way a healthy relationship and not likely a sustainable one. (not that we care about healthy here but i just mean - it wouldn't function effectively)
but if it's "do they do the wincest" in that era. hell yeah. i can see it. i can see it more blatant than this more pared down version. they're so messy for each other and i have an active imagination :)

"I don't really need this in my life... Why don't we forget about it? (Go and take your soul...) (Go and take your soul...)
Thing is -- (Thing is -- ) Time was -- (Time was --) Part of me used to love you: Part of me still does... This light here -- Some become strangers..."
~"Some Become Strangers" by Stevie Nicks

Carewyn's dress inspiration // the other main song I listened to while drawing this
x~x~x~x
So I thoroughly blame @dat-silvers-girl for this...but while talking with her about my recent Evan Bach post, I mentioned that since Evan and the remainder of his family is in Westminster, just south of London, and Carewyn ends up settling in London to work for the Ministry of Magic, there would be a very good chance that the two could cross paths, even unknowingly.
When Evan was taking the Tube to work one day as usual, though, he did cross paths with Carewyn -- and on his end, at least, it was very knowingly. What first caught his attention was the teenage boy in his train car talking to someone on his other side.
"Ms. Cromwell? You okay?"
It was the name "Cromwell" that caught Evan's attention. He'd heard it more than once before, of course -- it was a relatively common surname -- but it still made him start every time, since it was Lane's maiden name. And according to that frankly kind of meddlesome witch Donna, Evan knew that his children had gone back to using that surname too, rather than his. When he looked up this time, though, he was confronted with the sight of the teenage boy standing on the train talking to a well-dressed young woman with ginger-red hair, sitting down a short ways away and holding her forehead in her hand.
"Mm...yes," she said lowly, after a moment. She forced a small ruby red smile as she looked up at him. "I just haven't...been in such tight proximity with so many people, in a while. It's...louder, than I remember it."
Evan blanched when he took note of the woman's eyes -- a bit sunken-in, but almond-shaped, and bright blue. However shadowed, they were Lane's.
Evan very quickly turned away, his heart racing. God, why -- why here, why her? Why his daughter? Why here, on his daily commute, right now...?
Was Lane here too? Jacob? God, the thought of seeing either of them almost made Evan feel more nauseous. Seeing Lane after so many years was a prospect that daunted Evan, but seeing his son was almost more terrifying. Jacob had always had a temper, and he'd so strangely latched onto his sister even as a baby that Evan thought it'd be likely he'd have to physically defend himself, if Jacob caught sight of him...that is, if Lane wasn't there to diffuse things. Lane had always been the one to try to calm things down...
Despite himself, Evan scanned the train car, searching for his ex-wife. When he didn't see her or Jacob, he felt the faintest flicker of disappointment, and then a wave of overwhelming relief. Not only did he hate the thought of his estranged family causing a scene...but he didn't think how much more strain his heart could've taken, seeing Lane again after so long...
"Do you not take the Tube much?" asked the teenage boy from behind Evan.
"Well, no. As you know, there are many other ways to get around. But well, considering where we're going, I figured those methods wouldn't be as ideal."
"You can Apparate with other people too, right?" said the boy mischievously. "That sounds fun."
"Mind what you say in public, Erik," said Carewyn, before adding something a bit quieter under her breath. Evan just barely picked out the word "Muggle."
Evan's lips came together tightly. So this boy was like Carewyn and Jacob, then? He was part of that...freak world of theirs too? To think that such a promising young boy would be molded in their image rather than live a normal life, same as Jacob was...
A thought occurred to Evan that made him straighten up sharply. Was this boy -- ?!
When Evan looked at the boy called Erik, though, he found he didn't resemble Carewyn much at all. Plus he looked to be 13 or 14, at least...Carewyn couldn't be his mother: she would've had to have been a mere child herself when he was born, if she had been. And Erik had called her "Ms. Cromwell" -- he couldn't be related to her by blood. If he was her son, he'd have called her "Mother," and if he was her sibling through another marriage (this thought made Evan's stomach squirm), he would've just called her by her name. And yet the way Carewyn spoke to him...it wasn't just platonic, there was something almost maternal there...
Was this boy her stepson, perhaps? Evan wondered. Had Winnie married an older man -- someone already married? She was a young adult now, it wasn't out of the realm of possibility that she'd be married...she was probably the same age Evan was, when he married Lane. But to marry someone who had a son this old already... Evan couldn't help but frown disapprovingly, imagining his daughter marrying a man a good twenty years her senior.
"Anyway...thanks for this, Ms. Cromwell," said Erik. "Coming with me to the cinema and all."
"Well, I could hardly just drop you off and leave you there," Carewyn said with a wry smile.
"I told you you could."
"You can tell me whatever you want: it doesn't mean I'll agree with it. And besides...this clearly means a lot to you. I want to be there with you for it."
The way Carewyn spoke to Erik startled Evan yet again. It certainly didn't sound like how he expected a mother to speak to her son -- Lane certainly had never sounded so casual with Jacob, and she was always much more coddling of him than Evan himself was. It was almost sibling-esque, the way they interacted -- and yet Carewyn's sentiment still came across as so...maternal, for lack of a better word. So fond and proud...
Evan turned around, just in time to see Erik's snarky expression seemed to visibly soften.
"...Thanks, Ms. Cromwell."
The boy with the curly blond hair then seemed to sober slightly.
"...Ms. Cromwell...I wanted to say I'm sorry. For what I said the other day."
Carewyn blinked, startled.
"To that biddy in Diagon Alley," Erik prompted. "You know, the one who called you my mum."
Carewyn seemed to immediately understand, and her face grew much more gentle. "Erik..."
"I shouldn't have made such a big deal about it," Erik muttered, his eyes awkwardly drifting over to his and Carewyn's reflections in the window. "I mean, yeah, she was stupid to think it, when you're not even that much older than me and we don't look a thing alike -- but well, you do kind of act like my -- like a mum sometimes -- and you were with me while I was getting my school supplies, so it was only logical for her to think it. And well...I don't want you to think I'm ungrateful...you know, for everything..."
"Erik," Carewyn cut him off very firmly. She brought a hand up and took hold of his shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "That is the last thing I would think."
She paused. Despite himself, Evan couldn't help but listen that bit more intently, even while trying to not draw attention to himself.
"...After what happened to your mother...I understand you being upset about what that woman said," Carewyn said softly. "Of course I don't think it was right for you to have sworn at her...but I know your anger came out of trauma and pain, not anything vindictive or cruel. And the last thing I'd ever want to do is replace your mother...or your father. I know I never could, even if I wanted to."
Her eyes fell on her own hand on Erik's shoulder rather than staying locked on his.
"...I don't want to be your mother, Erik. I'm very happy just being your guardian, for however long you need me. That's all I sought from the court, and that's all I want to be."
"Guardian." Then Carewyn had adopted this boy, as his legal guardian? Evan tried to envision raising Jacob on his own in his mid-twenties without Lane, and the mental image was intimidating. Being raised by his great-uncle more than his own parents, Evan would've been utterly clueless in being a single parent -- even Lane he always assumed did a better job of it than he ever would have...
Erik's face had lost nearly all of its edge by this point -- if anything, his expression betrayed something much warmer.
"You really are smashing, Ms. Cromwell," he said. "I hope you know that."
His smile then grew a bit more devilish again.
"...So...since you're not mad about what I said...does this mean you'll give me some more of those special lessons you promised me?"
Carewyn gave a loud huff. "Those 'special lessons' are supposed to be to help you defend yourself -- they're not a reward to be taken away when I'm unhappy with you. But I could very well withhold some of the rather nice Christmas presents I've set aside, if you don't learn to clean up your language."
Erik gave a loud, cackling laugh that prompted Carewyn to smile a bit more wryly herself as she got up.
"Well, come on, then -- here's our stop."
Her sparkly starred heels clapped against the floor as she crossed to the closest door. Evan watched his daughter go, wrapping her arm around her ward as the two climbed off the train and into the crowd of the underground station. Then, silently shifting his gaze out the opposite window, Evan watched the wall fly past him as the train picked up steam and sped off toward the next stop.
Because Carewyn had been focused so tightly on Erik and his mind, so as to quiet the thoughts of all the other people on the train she could've picked up, she'd had no idea that she'd been sitting mere feet away from her father. Even if she had chosen to look anywhere besides Erik, it's likely she still wouldn't have noticed him -- for she had no memory of the man's face and would therefore have likely only seen him as a stranger. Which, sadly enough, he practically was, even while they still lived together...
Carewyn was a stranger to him. Evan knew it, and he'd known it, even when she was small. He'd never "gotten" her, largely because part of him had been afraid to -- failing so badly to connect with Jacob had been so painful that the thought of messing up again, and worse, with Carewyn had made him withdraw from her, hesitant to let her in. But there had been moments, here and there, where he'd deeply regretted not knowing her. Times when she -- strangely enough -- almost seemed more like him than Jacob had been. More respectful of the rules -- more interested in pleasing others. And yet Evan knew he truly hadn't known Carewyn. How could he, when it was so blatantly obvious to Lane that she had magic, same as Jacob? And now it was all the more obvious that Carewyn was nothing like Evan. The way she talked to her adopted son -- her "ward"...it was nothing like how Evan had ever talked to Jacob, let alone her. She sounded gentle, affectionate, playful...
She sounded...happy. Raising Erik in her strange World, on her own...Carewyn was happy.
"Are you okay, mister?"
Evan looked up, startled, to see a little girl with cornrows and a sunhat sitting across from him with her mother, who had looked up from her purse with muted concern. It was only when Evan looked up at the two that he saw himself reflected in the window behind him -- and the tear that had leaked out the side of his right eye down his face.
He quickly swept it off his face with one hand.
"Ahem -- yes, I'm...fine."
Feeling embarrassed, Evan turned his focus back out the window, away from the girl and her mother.
Carewyn was happy. It was a thought that was a wave of grief that drowned Evan's soul, and yet...that wave felt strangely comforting, all the same. He stayed floating in that feeling for the rest of his commute, until he finally reached his destination, at which point he walked to work.
Once he reached his office, Evan closed the door and put on an Elvis record as he got to work. It was something he often did, to help pass the time when the day was slow and his depression made it hard for him to soldier through -- and, unbeknownst to Evan, was also what Carewyn herself did, whenever she had trouble focusing on what she was doing.
"Today I stumbled from my bed With thunder crashing in my head, My pillow still wet from last night's tears... And as I think of giving up, A voice inside my coffee cup Kept crying out, ringing in my ears...
'Don't cry, Daddy... Daddy, please, don't cry... Daddy, you've still got me and little Tommy, And together we'll find a brand new mommy... Daddy, Daddy, please laugh again -- Daddy, ride us on your back again -- Oh, Daddy...please, don't cry...'"

Is Hardenshipping canonn?
Honestly wanna say no bc. Like. Obviously it's never been explicitly stated. So. No.
HOWEVER it is very fun and personally rewarding to speculate so. Thats under cut
Hehevwgeh they do have a lot of overlapping themes in their characters that i really love pointing out so whhhgh i'll just list them because surprise surprise (not a surprise this happens every single time) once i talk about something i like my brain turns to mulch and i can't essay like i usually do.
So, interesting things (minus images for most bc i dont feel like finding them)
-there's a mention of how they apparently used to be on the same team at some point in the past (i have a funny hc/au for what this "same team" is but i've yet to even mention or draw for it oops)
-the end of the main story where they reconcile. Just that entire scene (i've only really seen the alpha sapphire ver. Of this scene but whatever. Have seen the omega ruby one but i forgor what they say help)
-not really a. Like hardenshipping thing but OUGHGJJ MY GOOODDDD.... the very prevalent parallels between them and their respective legendaries. The constant feud and anger that kyogre and groudon hold for each other- the only break from their fights being brought on by rayquaza FORCING them to stop (the player being the rayquaza in this situation, hint hint). Rayquaza coming down from the sky to keep two idiots from killing everybody. Small child blasting through an entire evil corporation to keep two idiots from killing everybody. Literally the same.
Theres no way this could be just subtext, i feel like they kind of intended for people to make this connection its just one of those things thats SO obvious but still so fun to point out. I love symbolism and subtext and reading between the lines and *explodes*
-Another thing i find interesting is their outer shell compared to their actual personalities and ideals.
Archie seems very friendly and lighthearted (at least compared to maxie being an uppity dick). He uses more kind language when referring to the player- kind being less professional and less detached. He comes off as much more relaxed, but he holds a concerning amount of apathy towards humankind. Team aqua's goal was to drown everyone, thinking that if they did then the world would be perfect for pokemon to thrive in. Archie wanted to flood the world with the wellbeing of pokemon in mind. (Which. How the fuck does that even work) (also opens up the speculation of what could've possibly made him care so little for people's wellbeing, and what made him care for the lives of pokemon so much more)
Maxie comes off very cold. He tries to be professional. While archie saying scamp comes off as playful, maxie calling you "child" just instantly hits as condescending. (Can you tell i love-hate this fucking toxic slutch monster) (another btw, in his defeat animation he loses his cool for a sec and freaks out before composing himself, when you'd expect something like this from archie. Archie's lose animation is leagues calmer. Although this is a really small detail i feel like it gives great insight into their actual personalities. I love small details hoohoo) and even though he acts like this, he cares a lot for other people and made his team's goal to dry up all the water so humans had more land and could advance quicker. maxie wanted to dry everything up with the wellbeing of people in mind.
(Which, again, HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT WORK????? PEOPLE NEED DRINKING WATER???? HELLO???????????????)
-as per previous points, they are both very, very dumb.
-and oh yeah. The model boats. Oh my god. I lose my MIND over this little thing they share in particular because uuoiuuhsaaaaaaaagh. AAAAAGHHH.
Archie having a model ship makes sense, you know? He loves the sea- wants to drown everybody- yeah. It makes sense that he has a model ship.
But maxie. Woagh. Woauagh. Bro. What if we had matching model ships. And we were both boys (i say matching bc the 3ds overworld isn't very detailed so they look the same. Could be different for all we know.)
Why would maxie have a ship? He wants to dry up the sea. It's pretty safe to say he's either indifferent to sea-based travel, or he hates it. Boats, ferrys, ships, those wont be needed in the world he wants to create. But he has a model ship in his bedroom. A model ship that is absolutely spotless, not a single mote of dust.
Why does he take such good care of something that- according to the rest of his character and motivations- he shouldn't care about?
(Could those matching model ships that they have be something significant from their past when they were on good terms? Maybe something to do with that same team they were on?)
-also there's this which is worth mentioning i think because damn.
Tumblr media
Theres more stuff that i could mention but paraphrasing is exhausting and my brain has shriveled up.

Your Corruption and Sin Reveal Everything
The day has come for the rogues of Gotham to pay their debts to Madame Nightshade. Especially the disgraced Two Face.
Title taken from Vengeance by BIBI
Tumblr media
Lourdes watched from the security room as cars passed through both the front gates and her heavily armed guards. The sight was quite hilarious to her. The most dangerous criminals in Gotham brought to heel by her. Especially Two Face. But then again, it was all according to plan at the end of the day.
Oh Harvey, I was always too smart for you. Even if you could've prosecuted me, you never stood a chance.
"Where do you want us to take them, Madame?" Priya asked.
"The parlor. I'll be down just in time for their arrival."
Lourdes then headed to her room to change into a more comfortable outfit. Ever since that fateful night, her and Two Face became locked in an intense rivalry. Much more so then when she was Marjorie Steele. While Lourdes didn't deem their relationship as such, she knew that he'd been coming up with ways to try and one up her.
Alas, he seems to have forgotten just who she was and what she was capable of. Lourdes loved the game, and she took great pleasure in seeing just how hard Two Face would go in trying to best her. What it would take to break an already broken man.
Priya, Pilar, and Penelope bowed once all the rogues were gathered in place. Priya doubted they'd need any introduction since the three dealt a good number of the guests their debts.
"Welcome," Pilar greeted. "Please, follow us."
The journey took them through several different rooms before stopping at a Gaboon ebony door.
Two Face grumbled to himself as he clutched a large bag in one of his hands. Not only was he irritated from the constant visits from the Debt Dealers, but he was still recovering from having his pride hurt. First he gets shot in the shoulders twice, now he has to pay his debt to this woman.
His shoulders started to sting and burn the more he walked through the house--a memory from the infamous "party". It was a miracle he didn't get an infection from the wounds.
"Everyone, please form a line. As much as she's capable, she'd like to see you all individually," Priya requested. She then motioned to a nearby butler to open the door.
Two Face was about to make his way to the back of the line when Penelope pulled him towards the front.
"What the fuck?"
"Today's your lucky day, Harv. You seem to be a popular bloke with the boss." Mockery laced Penelope's voice, further dejecting Two Face's mood.
Sure enough, Madame Nightshade was waiting in the parlor when the door opened. She wore a black and scarlet red business ensemble, complete with designer heels and pearl jewelry.
Two Face shifted his eyes. Damn it, Marjorie...
"Harvey Dent, come hither."
"Shit."
"You heard her." Penelope interjected. "Told ya it was your lucky day."
Knowing that Madame Nightshade wouldn't repeat herself, Two Face immediately made his way into the parlor. It was a beautiful mix of sapphire blue and ruby red full of furniture likely imported from other countries and decor he could only dream of having in his own home.
"Harvey, I'm glad you could make it." Nightshade gave him a mocking smile as he sat down.
Don't piss me off, Marjorie. "Let's just get this over with."
Nightshade hummed as she opened the ledger and turned to a page. "Your first debt is fifty million dollars due to your robberies."
Two Face placed the bag of money on the table. "I got your fifty million."
"You also owe me several semiautomatic weapons including AR-15s, AK-47s, and assault rifles because of your recent stunt." Nightshade kept her eye on the ledger. Why Two Face brought it upon himself to inflate his already massive debt to her, she'd never understand (even though she did). Perhaps that's how the male ego works.
"My crew can bring those in."
Two Face fiddled with a coin. Being shot by her was already humiliating enough. If he'd known he'd be sitting in front of the very same woman he planned to prosecute, he would've avoided ever becoming Two Face. It was like his glory days as a lawyer all over again; only this time, Marjorie was calling all the shots.
"Next time, bring it to me personally."
Once everything in the ledger was gone over, Nightshade dismissed the dual faced criminal. But she didn't cross his name off the list, which signified the debt was cleared.
"Edward Nashton."
Riddler strode in with Query and Echo, who were holding briefcases; right on his trail. Nightshade became instantly annoyed by the arrogance oozing off him.
"I'm sure you remember what you owe me, Edward Nasthon."
"Of course I do." With the snap of his fingers, Echo and Query opened the briefcases. One was filled with money while the other with jewelry and rare artifacts. A prideful grin still on his face, Riddler said, "I think these should clear my debt-"
"Why is there eight hundred million when I said six hundred?" Madame Nightshade deadpanned.
Riddler froze. "What do you mean?"
Madame Nightshade narrowed her eyes. "And where is the necklace? Pilar told you exactly what was in the ledger." Did this man think she was stupid? Especially when she had eyes all around Gotham?
"O-oh, the necklace. You see, there was a small issue with one of the Robins and we-"
"Your novia's wearing it to the Gotham Gala tonight." Nightshade shut his excuse down. So he did think of her as a fool. "Didn't your parents ever tell you not to touch anything that wasn't yours, Edward? Don't you teach that to your own daughters Duela and Elizabeth?"
Riddler inclined his head as he shook it.
Nightshade hummed, "Riddle me this, then. Why does the second husband live in the shadow of the widow's first?" Nightshade circled his name.
"Because he...he wasn't the first."
Nightshade decided she'd been enough of the green clad mastermind. When she gave him the specifics of his debt, she expected those to be fulfilled. Not to mention she could sense the desperation to impress Monochrome. "Your attempts at winning her love are pathetic, Edward. Your desire to give Mona Lisa the life she had before has led you straight to my irritation. If you truly wanted to be a wealthy, honorable man, you would've gotten clean years ago."
Once Riddler and his sidekicks were dismissed, Penguin was next. Two of his henchmen came in with large briefcases. When opened, it was revealed that both money and cigars were inside.
"Unlike that bloke, I know exactly what I owe you," He gloated.
"I'm guessing your people will also bring me my guns?" Nightshade crossed her legs.
Penguin nodded. Unlike most of the other rogues, he was a businessman. Just because he wasn't familiar with Madame Nightshade didn't mean he was gonna be stupid enough to risk her anger. Especially when she basically owned the Iceberg Lounge.
"Very well then."
Her next clients were Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, and Mad Hatter. Finally, it was down to the newest criminal in Gotham: Monochrome. Nightshade anticipated their meeting.
"Hello, Madame."
"Hola."
Monochrome placed the painting, frame and all, on the table. It was a simple, but large debt at the same time. Nightshade knew it was tearing her up inside, which was good. Especially since she added to her debt by taking the necklace.
"Your novio Riddler thinks highly of you; to the point where he risks my anger to win your love." Nightshade circled and underlined her name as well.
"I know," Monochrome replied in a hushed voice.
Once almost all the debts were collected, she handed the ledger to the Debt Dealers to review. Certain people would be getting a visit from her collectors in two days, especially Two Face.
Harvey, you know I'll win this game of cat and mouse.

You know, throughout all of Ruby, I think it's become very clear that the line between heroes and villains is thinner than a lot of people like to believe. What's more interesting is that the only clear difference between the heroes and villains is the kind of support they have.
Team RWBY, for example, very well could've become villains in their own right. Ruby could've fallen into her grief, throwing herself into finding Summer or who would've killed her. Yang could've taken her search for Raven much farther than she did, maybe taking up jobs for information from criminals just to get closer. Weiss could've turned out to be much more like her father. And Blake... Blake was technically a villain until the events of the Black Trailer, but had she not left the White Fang, she could've given into her hate the same way Adam did, an potentially become more like her nightmare version of Ice Queendom.
Even team JNPR could've been villains with what they went through. Jaune could've started seeking power elsewhere or looked at other ways to get back at people instead of trying to be a hero at Beacon. Pyrrha was placed on a pedestal, never getting close to others to actually make bonds, and could've went elsewhere for the bonds she wished she had. Nora was abandoned, and Ren is one of two survivors from his village after a grimm attack.
Even Oscar could've ended up becoming a villain after everything he's gone through from Ozpin reincarnating into him, Salem torturing him, the way everyone treated him after learning what Ozpin was hiding.
And yet, they all had support in keeping them on the right path or keeping them from going too far.
Then, on the villain end, we have Cinder, who never really had much for support. Bullied at an orphaned, abused by an adopted mother, and given up on by Rhodes after she couldnt take the abuse anymore. Mercury was abused by his father and took the first opportunity he had to get away. Emerald had no one until she ran into Cinder and thought that was the support she needed until she saw the chaos that was being caused. Hazel had little support for his grief of his sister. Tyrian is mentally unstable, and while we don't know his full story, we at least know he was branded as a serial killer.
But they all had one thing in common: the support they found wasn't great, and their trauma has made them easy to mold and manipulate into thinking what they're doing is right.
All it takes is for a push in one direction or the other to cross that line. And Ironwood’s fall from grace shows that perfectly. The way he goes from a hero to villain after playing into Salem's hands, being pushed by his paranoia, being toyed with by Watts and Tyrian, doubling down into thinking he was the only one who could defeat Salem, idolizing the way she wasnt human... even the Fall of Beacon messed with Ironwood and pushed him down the path to becoming a villain. Every action he took with good intentions kept bringing him closer and closer to that line, the only people keeping him in check being Winter and Clover after he closed Atlas borders.
And this is why, at least for RWBY, I think the villains having the chance to redeem themselves, to better themselves, is important. Because at any point, the heroes can cross that line to being a villain and still cross back over to being a hero, and the villains have that same chance.
The only thing that separates hero and villain are the supports that they have.

Working on a danganronpa x fear street au because I'm bored and I got nothing else to do, so here's a short character list for this AU! I'll be starting off with Fear Street Part 1: 1994, Part 2: 1987 & Part 3: 1666 will come at a later point.
I really recommend watching Fear Street, it's a good movie trilogy! With that, onto the list!
DO NOT CONTINUE READING PAST THIS POINT IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN FEAR STREET, THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Tumblr media
Heather Watkins – Sayaka Maizono
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reason I chose her is because she's the first girl you meet in game and the first girl who dies. Heather's the same way.
Ryan Torres – Leon Kuwata
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I chose Leon because of both he and Ryan have some girl catcher thing going on, not to mention they both become killers. (albeit one was possessed, the other was forced)
Deena Johnson – Shuichi Saihara
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In reality because the Fear Street Trilogy also counts as a LGBTQ+ film (Deena & Sam used to date), you could put anyone besides Shuichi as the main character. Reason I chose Shuichi was because Deena associates with the color blue, and she's also pessimistic and depressed at the start of the movie until the end.
Samantha Fraser – Kokichi Oma
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, Sam and Kokichi are very different characters. One's manipulative and childish while the other doesn't like to cause trouble while being quiet. The only reason I chose Kokichi is due to a couple things, one of them being Sam living in Sunnyvale (which is a rich and safe town, and since Kokichi is the Ultimate Supreme Leader, I just put two and two together.) Second, Saiouma is a popular ship and since Shuichi is Deena in this AU, I might as well make Sam Kokichi. (But other options such as Kiibo or Kaito or any other male character Shuichi's shipped with could work too.)
Josh Johnson – Yasuhiro Hagakure
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the movie, Josh is the nerd who's all about conspiracy theories, and he's smart because he's able to piece together what's been going on with Shadyside and the killers it pumps out every decade or so. Yasuhiro's all about that conspiracy stuff, and he's somewhat of a nerd (alongside Hifumi), hence why he's Josh. His best friends that he talks to like Josh does in the movie with AOL would probably be Hifumi and Gundham.
Kate Schmidt – Miu Iruma
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kate's not an inventor, I'll give you that. But in the movie she's very smart and has a good sense of what she's doing (even after she dies). She's also a very attractive girl, so who else could fit her other than the genius with good looks and golden brains herself?
Simon Kalivoda – Kazuichi Soda
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In my personal opinion, I could've chosen Mikan for Simon due to both of them being cowards and having knowledge of over the counter medicine and drugs, but it just didn't feel right given Mikan also cries a lot... which is something Simon doesn't do. So I chose Kazuichi because I thought it would be more fitting in terms of personality. (Also, both of them are simps in a way)
Sheriff Nick Goode – Nagito Komaeda
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While it doesn't make much sense for Nagito to be Nick, I chose Nagito because both of them wield guns (/hj) and because both of them live a lavish lifestyle where nothing bad ever happens to them. (With some exception as an Ultimate Lucky Student aka Nagito) Then again, he could also work for Sarah Fier given both of them had one hand cut off from their body...
C. Berman – Hajime Hinata
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's implied in 1978 that C. Berman and Nick Goode had a thing for each other when they were kids, and C. Berman was very pessimistic (almost like Deena) during most of the movie. It fits very well for Hajime just like Shuichi does with Deena.
Ruby Lane – Sonia Nevermind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Halfway in the movie, Simon ends up entranced by Ruby Lane's singing which is how he ends up getting tackled and almost killed by her. I don't like to doubt that Sonia would do something similar to draw out Kazuichi if she ever decided to kill someone.
Sarah Fier – Kiyotaka Ishimaru
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While it may not make sense for Ishimaru to be the witch, It's the only character I could think that would work for this AU since, and there are spoilers so don't read if you haven't seen Fear Street, Sarah Fier in the movie is a lesbian who was hung for witchcraft and had rejected a dude who loved her when she loved another woman.

As people with better eye for airships than mine have noted, the right when for RWBYJ to arrive in Vacuo is when there's a bunch of different models all floating in the same place, that hint to... let's say deciding forces from all Kingdoms gathered there.
About the time passed between the ending of V8 and now, I think it's safe to say it's at the very least a few weeks, more like two-three months, considering that:
whichever forces rushed to Atlas to help after Ruby's global announcement needed the time to get there, found Atlas ruins on top of Mantle ruins, all submerged/frozen and pretty much nobody around apart from renowned Dr. Polendina and one sassy elderly lady stranded in the middle of tundra-nowhere on the former Amity Colosseum turned into a Communication Tower in dire need of repairs;
the airship with Qrow, Robyn and the Ace-Ops had to stop somewhere to gather resources on the way to Vacuo so they could've sent letters but still, slow mail needs time to move from Kingdom to Kingdom;
the large group arrived in Vacuo via express magic did explain stuff & things but still had to relay on slow inter-kingdom communication to gather representatives from the other main governments/forces at least until the Amity Tower was up and running again.
So, when our heroes finally come back from disappearance, respectively with
knowledge she's enough and all good within herself
confirmation of being best girl, best at emotional intelligence, and best comic relief
feelings cleared, leadership points acquired, impeccable partnership in fights & PDAs
feelings cleared, value points acquired, impeccable partnership in fights & PDAs
20 years of rust and fixation on misconstrued heroism freshly wiped
there is probably the equivalent of a UN General Assembly going on somewhere in Vacuo.
And how it's going? Probably just like UN General Assemblies go in our world.
Meanwhile: Ren has now a beard of his own and more than a couple gray hairs from being bumped up to main protagonist; Nora can't even enjoy that because being bumped up to main protagonist required her to switch to chamomile tea to avoid hammering annoying people left and right; Oscar longing for the good old times in which he just had to endure physical violence and not try to convince world and military leaders to agree on a common plan while looking like a teenager; Winter being the Most Stressed Person On the Planet, coordinating defenses, battling grief and PTSD, and being asked daily to provide ice for 2000 households because former Atlesians can't stand the dry heat; Qrow keeping an eye on Ozcar and barely avoiding relapsing in memory of his nieces who wouldn't have wanted it; the Happy Huntresses having to be in 25 places every day to break up fights and try and mediate between unruly populations.
All of that without even considering Salem agents being already there stirring shit and or Salem herself putting together another flying Grimm whale or something worse to come get herself another relic.
So, yeah, fun times ahead in... what, another two years of production time?
Assuming V10 gets greenlit asap, of course.

What other things did Eggman like about Chaos? I'm kinda getting into this. 👀
I never thought people would ask me about them lol but it's very welcome. I've shipped them for a long time, I need people to join the nonexistent club but I'm only weird about it and that's why I don't mention it a lot here so be warned fbskgnmsgmk
People pair up Chaos with every other character but not Eggman, the one that spent the most time with him smh. He's the one with an obsession with seeking out monstrous beings for his plans and sure it's for power but repetitive theme of awakening and/or trying to harness them gives fetish vibes. 👀 It's all about the hunger for power and realizing he loves trying to dominate big scary monsters too much and also finds that he doesn't mind vice versa too, as long as they remember their place in the end and don't try to betray him.
When it comes to Chaos 0 there's already some appeal, Eggman lusts over that small waist and hips and he's got a thing for the contrast against himself XD
Tumblr media
He also likes being taller than him in this form, like he enjoys looking down on Zavok too. Being able to literally look down on other powerful beings is gratifying to him
But he also loves how Chaos can grow and tower over him and finds that attractive too. He loves feeding him emeralds too much so he can watch him get even stronger, bigger, and more monstrous, it's way too exciting for both the increase of power and seeing him more monsterish he becomes. It's so sad that Chaos betrayed him before he became Perfect Chaos because that was going to be the most exciting part, when he's a big scary giant roaring monster that helps him destroy Station Square. They could've had it all :'(
Him calling Chaos his pet is kinky and a dynamic he's into. It would add up with how he's enjoyed it in roleplay scenarios in other pairings of mine too. In this case, it's also the idea of how he'll become a huge monster when he gets all the emeralds but he'll still be under his control despite all his power (or so he hoped) like a pet and could take a ton of pride and satisfaction in that.
... He likes how Chaos can absorb things and also turn into a puddle of water that could go anywhere for reasons. I can't say any more about that lol
I like to imagine Chaos being curious to explore when released and Eggman is another point of interest. He's interested in him as a human, just like he's interested in him for his monstrous qualities. When Eggman realized, he liked to let him do what he wanted to satisfy that curiosity, which included exploring his body inside and out and sometimes keeping him restrained while doing it, overstimulating him and making his head spin and heart race. It was quite a thrill to let a strange ancient mutated monsterous god like being mess with him.
He really liked being restrained with Chaos' tentacles and feeling the strength of him even manage to hold a strong man like him back to get a physical feel of his power. Also whenever he's grabbed by Artificial Chaos in SA2, I imagine them doing it without damage or using their dumb laser shooting attack and Eggman having the completely wrong reaction because he thinks of how Chaos used to hold him and missed it. Stop thinking with your dick Ivo you're in danger lmfao
Another great bonus, despite Eggman's tendency to overheat, Chaos excessively lowers the chances of that and prevents him from getting excessively sweaty in the act because he keeps him cool and clean ahdkfnsmgsjg so refreshing! And unlike Sonic he loves water and loves to swim, so could they be any more perfect for each other?
I had the headcanon that Eggman fucked around with Phantom Ruby created Zavok in Forces before he could get the real deal back for TSR with his gay as hell obsession lol. So he did the same with the Chaos ones too, totally just as one of the tests to get an idea of how it worked and stuff. Getting fucked by a Zeti and water for science, you know how it is 👍
Tumblr media
Also in the Forces prequel comic, he says Chaos was the first test of the Ruby's power. He really stayed in your thoughts for all that time, to the point he was the first on your mind to want to try out of all the choices? 🤨 Okay monsterfucker

@howdyfriend i didn't feel likke finishing. the doodle unfortunately because i am tired and i have sososo many things to do today but here is a really quick sketch of ruby for your viewing pleasure :) i'll render her for realsies one day
Tumblr media
ruby is a character from a story that i created for a writing contest in spring 2022 that i ultimately did not end up completing or entering due to a lack of time and confidence in both the story and my writing abilities. because this is a story that i do want to tell one day, i won't go super into the plot, but i will tell you some of the core information about my favorite character from it: ruby <3
ruby is a little girl who immigrated with her dads from cape verde to north carolina (SAD! 💔) when she was ~3 years old. she was by all means a normal child growing up! she was an absolute ray of sunshine and a huge source of joy to everyone who knew her- even as a child, she was always regarded as very charming! she knew how to wrap people around her little fingers and did it with ease. she was very in tune with her surroundings- nature and animals especially-, but her talent was always with reading others in her life. she had an affinity for befriending other kids that were normally bullied, teased, or just weren't very good at making friends, and because she was so well-liked, this friendship offered these other kids protection from bullying. the first friend she really latched onto was khalil (the protagonist of this story), but there were three others that joined her main circle of friends growing up: jordyn, and fraternal twins haadi and fatima. she was, really, the heart of a lot of things: the heart of her friendship, the heart of her family, so on and so forth. in a way, the world did revolve around her. people were always drawn to her and she knew it.
and then one day she went missing.
two weeks before school let out for summer and exactly five days after her thirteenth birthday, ruby started walking home from school and never came home. she was reported missing, but nothing ever came of it- there were no signs as to where she could've gone or anyone who could've taken her. some theorized that maybe she'd tried to take a shortcut through the woods near her home- something she was known to do often when she walked home alone (both out of a love for nature and because it was faster)- but extensive volunteer search and rescue results yielded no results. it was strange. she was there one moment and gone the next in the blink of an eye.
her disappearance absolutely tore her community apart- her fathers relationship suffered, her friend group fell apart, that sort of thing. there was nowhere to search and no one to question and ruby, beloved as she was by her community, was eventually just... accepted as gone and set aside. after all, what can you do when you've done everything you can and still yield no results? (... damn, sounds familiar...)
exactly two years later, two weeks before let out for the summer and five days after what would've been ruby's fifteenth birthday, khalil- ruby's oldest friend- walks home from school. he'd grown up in the same neighborhood as ruby did, but it never really felt like home after she'd left. her family had always been more of a family to him than his own had (his mother is a hoarder with deep, complex issues stemming from her own childhood, and while she loves him greatly she ultimately just was never meant to be a parent and it really shows) and he'd distanced himself through his own grief when he realized that ruby was gone for good. except... there she is, standing by the trail entrance to the woods so many people had meticulously combed through searching for her. wearing the same clothes, holding the same backpack, and waving brightly at him like she hasn't been missing for two years.
despite khalil's tears and ruby's confusion over said tears and seeing him (why does he look so much older?), it's a happy reunion between the two of them. its even happier when khalil practically sprints to ruby's dads' home and almost breaks down the door knocking on it. ruby's home, she's home, and everyone's happy! it's ruby! it's a miracle! most missing children never come home, but she did! she came home alive, whole and healthy... unnaturally so, it seems, because a medical examination that the local precinct insists on preforming on her reveals that she's... completely unchanged.
it's not just that she's still wearing the same clothes or carrying the same backpack (neither of which show any dna that isn't hers) from the day she went missing. it's not just that she's the same height and the same weight as she was when she was thirteen. it's not just that she's still wearing the exact same bandaid she'd put on at lunch the day she'd disappeared because she'd scraped her knee dicking around with her friends. it's not just that the food she didn't finish the day she disappeared left inside of her bag is still as fresh as it was that morning.
she's completely untouched by time. she's still thirteen, and whatever happened to her within the span of the two years she'd been missing, she claims that she doesn't remember any of it. in fact, it doesn't seem like anything happened to her at all. it's almost be tempting to pretend she'd never disappeared in the first place. ruby's fathers, her friends, khalil, they should all be thankful! not everyone gets to have their loved ones back in one piece- or at all.
after all, even if there's still a two year gap in her life where her memories should be, she's still home, and that's enough. sure, her eyes might be growing lighter by the day and there might be more sharp teeth in her mouth than any human normally has, but she's still the same old ruby everyone knows and loves.
it's just a shame there's something else underneath her skin now, too.
i think dwight and ruby would be friends because they both get to have fun body-related horrors :) but outside of that he just feels like one of those kids that ruby would be really quick to latch to and be protective of, even before she goes missing. he's a big sweetheart and ruby has a big, big soft spot for people like him. he's her friend now. they're having soft tacos later!

I started writing a Kingdom Hearts/RWBY crossover fic post-KH3 where instead of ending up in Quadratum like canon, Sora winds up in the World Tree which takes him to Remnant. Riku eventually finds out about the existence of said tree and follows him there. If written fully, it'll cover volumes 1-9 and end in 9 since that's when they wind up in the Tree again. It'll start pre-volume 1 a few weeks before the girls start attending Beacon. Sora will arrive during the V5 Yang Trailer, Riku will stumble upon Raven's camp but find Sora later on in Vale. I'd also like to point out that there will be no Heartless or Master of Masters here and it will solely focus upon their journey throughout Remnant. They will have their magic temporarily taken away before arrival, because magic is not a common occurrence in Remnant and the Tree wanted to help them blend-in, and they will each be given aura/semblance instead but still have their physical keyblade wielding skills. As for romance, Soriku will be the KH pairing. Riku has feelings for Sora but hasn't confessed while Sora will be trying to figure out how deep his feelings for Riku go (he will figure it out by the end don't worry). The RWBY ones will be the canonically explored ones (Arkos, Renora, Bumbleby) but others such as Blacksun may be referenced or minimally explored to throughout depending on my mood. If you are homophobic, don't even consider reading my story if I ever publish it, because it is not meant for you and neither are RWBY/KH as series to begin with.
Here's a basic summary of how this fic may go per Volume
Pre-Volume 1: Sora bonds with the Rose-Xialong family and learns basics about Remnant while taking a much deserved break. Riku is searching for Sora and ends up getting assistance from Raven after proving himself worthy of her time.
Volume 1: Sora goes to Vale with Ruby/Yang to see Yang off only to fight Roman and get acknowledged by Professor Ozpin along with Ruby. Riku intervened as Cinder was about to hit Sora with a powerful magic attack, and helped Sora/Ruby/Glynda repel her. The three get invited to attend Beacon and accept, leading to the formation of the teams and Sora/Riku being a duo instead of four person team because of the odd number of students for the year. They learn how to be students (Riku excels Sora does not) and huntsmen together and make new friends and enemies.
Volume 2: More challenges await as a threat rises. Sora and Riku gladly help their friends take on these enemies, but are unaware of the true darkness under the horizon. Will the light prevail as it always does or will the darkness be too strong for the heroes to squander? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, the two are settling in this new world, and pondering over their feelings for each other.
Volume 3: Sora thought he'd get a break in this new word and enjoy it with his best friend. Riku thought he'd be able to have some fun with his crush in the Vytal Festival. Neither could've predicted the tragedy that was coming. Hope is shattered, and light is in pieces. Innocence is lost, and they will never be the same again.
Volume 4: What does one do when the light falls to darkness? Sora, Riku & co will have to figure this out the hard way as they head to Mistral searching for any light that can guide them to a much needed victory against the dark. With RWBY scattered and RJNR despairing, is there any light left or has the dark taken over all of their hearts?
Volume 5: They are but a few sparks, and the darkness is vast. How will the light prevail against such overwhelming odds? Perhaps the return of old friends, new allies, and hope they had long needed will arise help them triumph over darkness.
Volume 6: Everyone is together again, and Sora could not be happier. However, there are still many challenges ahead as the group must head to Atlas to hide the Relic of Knowledge warn General Ironwood of Salem's incoming invasion. Old and new enemies, secrets, troublesome and confusing feelings and more threaten to tear him and his new friends apart, but Riku won't let him give up now.
Volume 7: After all this time, Sora and Riku are now huntsmen! They will give it their all to protect Atlas and Mantle from Salem's forces. However, light is stronger in some people's hearts than others. Will love prevail or will fear tear everyone apart?
Volume 8: Sora's worst fear has come true; the dark is stronger than the light. He and Riku might not be able to save everyone like they had been able to in the past. However, that doesn't mean they won't risk it all to fight for every life. Will light be able to overcome the odds and save they day or will they fall into darkness?
Volume 9: The heroes saved the day, but it came at too high a cost. Now, Sora and Ruby grieve over the loss of a friend they failed not once but twice all while dealing with a world whose weirdness reminds him of home and feelings that may change things between him and Riku forever. As the World Tree appears before them, Sora and Riku must ask themselves: What are you? Are you the same boys that left home? Do you even want to return knowing the fight against the darkness will never end? Is there even any light in your heart anymore? What these boys decide will determine their futures.
Feel free to give suggestions if you have any ideas of specific events or character interactions you want to see. Note that Sora and Riku are the only Kingdom Hearts characters physically present aside from flashbacks.
