Aftg has ruined my view to the world
I was reading castle Swimmer and Pagoon was like "The beacon is his boyfriend" and for some reason I expected Siren to be like "he's not my boyfriend" like andreil style as if they didn't literally just asked out each other last chapter while blushing like hell

WEBTOON’s Castle Swimmer Voice Headcanons
We all love our gay fishes Kappa, Siren, Worm/Arp, Queens Nee and Krilli and the Octalia Witches, Mono, Mucku and Queen Nethimir… and that cutie Galoo (I love her and her sea rabbit design so much 🥰🤩😁.) I am sure we have all imagined what their voices would sound like. So please reblog this with any voice headcanons for these actors; what they sound like or who you think could play them.

I've noticed in Wendy's asks that she gets a LOT of questions about Kappa and Siren having a child. Well it got me excited at the idea.
Wendy has stated that Kappa and Siren are not able to birth children. With that in mind I thought up an idea for a possible adopted child.
I designed her after a guppy. Guppies are well known to cannibalize their young. While there are no scientific conclusion for this, some scientists believe that it may be due to the parents seeing the young as weak and unfit for survival.
Now I don't think that some merms would eat their children but maybe for some sad reason this little one ended up being abandoned.
Thus getting adopted.
I decided to design her after a white guppy and perhaps she has albinism.
I also thought it interesting if guppies are small compared to other merms.
In this drawing, I depicted her as a preteen. I don't have a name for her but ya'll can leave that up to your imaginations.
Enjoy!

Title: Castle Swimmer
Author: Wendy Lian Martin
Canvas or Original: Original
Publication year: 2019
Genre: fantasy
Blurb: What happens when your entire life is ruled by a prophecy - your future foretold by people you’ve never met, who died long before you were born? Such is the story of two young sea creatures. One is believed to be a guiding light for his people, a Beacon who will lead them to a bright, prosperous future; the other is a teenage prince whose destiny is to kill the Beacon so that his own people might thrive. When both reject the course set for them, it leads to a raucous adventure as big and unpredictable as the ocean itself...and a romance that nobody could have predicted.

Note to Self - Word Balloons: A Study
(No spoilers, don't worry)
14 total comics to compare against, across genres with half as traditionally printed comics and half from webcomics. While not an exhaustive list, should be enough to start to give some idea about preferences.
Text Type: Either fully capitalized (EXAMPLE) or with mixed case (Example)
All Caps versus Mixed Case
Mixed Case vs. ALL CAPS for all comics
Mixed Case vs. ALL CAPS for Traditional Printed Comics AND for all webcomics (same results)
A slight preference for the traditional method of writing out word balloons with text in all caps
Spacing Between Text and Outer Balloons
Min Spacing versus Regular Spacing versus Max Spacing
Spacing between text and outer balloon for all comics
Traditional comics are basically evenly split between a normal spacing (about the width of a letter) and min spacing (which leaves essentially no room between the text and the balloon)
Traditional comics slightly tend toward a minimizing the spacing between the text and the balloon
Spacing between text and outer balloons for webcomics
Webcomics are split between between a normal spacing (about the width of a letter) and extra spacing (which can sometimes double or triple the distance between the text and the balloon). Webcomics slightly tend towards adding additional space between the text and the word balloon
Word Balloons Within or Outside the Panels
Within Panel versus Outside Panel
Whether word balloon (typically) lie entirely within or can exist outside the strict space of the panel
This is perhaps the most obvious difference between webcomics and traditional comics. All traditional comics in this set only have word balloons that lie within the panel, while all the webcomics typically have there word balloons lie outside their panels
Conclusion
As reductive as it sounds, the overall conclusion is that any combination of word balloon choices are well represented in both traditional and webcomics. The only noticeable difference is that webcomics tend to take greater advantage of the negative space between panels by moving their word ballons out of the panel borders

been meaning to start figuring out how to draw these fish boys for a while now... blub blub :)
notes: because this is my first attempt at drawing these characters, the style of the illustration is closer to wendy lian martin's (the author's) than my other artwork. you can really see it in the angle of siren's face! it's because i was using references so closely. if i continue to draw them, it'll start to deviate more and more... i might try to track that process this time!

Ace Recommendations
Welcome to ace recommendations, where I will recommend pieces of media that i have read/watched that either is about being asexual, has an asexual character in it, or is created by someone who is asexual.
Today's recommendation is Castle Swimmer, a webcomic created by Wendy Lian Martin.
Castle Swimmer follows the journeys of two mermen, Kappa, who is based off of a koi fish, and Siren who is based off of a shark. Kappa's only purpose in life is to fulfill prophecies for merpeople and other sea creatures. Siren's purpose is to break the curse that has killed and injured many of his people. The two meet when Kappa is imprisoned in order to help Siren to fulfill the prophecy to break the curse. However, the two become friends (then lovers) and decide to help each other to find a new purpose in life and to find another way to break the curse. They split up after some mishaps, but soon come together to continue their journey.
There is one currently confirmed asexual character in the webcomic, Queen Nethimer. She is an evil witch based off of an octopus and is AroAce. Neth may come off as cold and distant to strangers, but in reality, she really cares for her friends and family and does her best to protect them. She is selfless and brave. She states that she is not into guys or girls in the webcomic. It has also been confirmed by the creator here on Tumblr.
Castle Swimmer is updated every Sunday and can be read for free on Webtoon.
