I always wonder whether Batfam fans really get just how fucking rich the Waynes are. Like of course we shy away from thinking about the fact that we're talking Musk and Bezos money, and focus on how Bruce funds the freaking Watchtower and has what is functionally a high-tech military base and lab and the world's most expensive vehicles. But this is the one time you don't have to factor in the implications of wealth-hoarding, so there's nothing preventing y'all from understanding exactly how much money we're talking about here.

For instance, there doesn't seem to be any concept of how palatial Wayne Manor is, simply going by the outer facades of it that appear in the comics and movies. Or how decadent the lifestyles that accompany that kind of ancestral home. Alfred couldn't run that place on his own even if he had super powers, which is why even the movies occasionally show a rotating probably-temporary staff in the background. The house probably has like 3 hundred-foot pools. Their garden is a protected heritage park.

The Waynes are 10x richer than Crazy Rich Asians. They buy and wear the jewelry worth hundreds of millions that belonged to royalty. They own private islands. The art in the house alone is worth more than the GDP of a small country. They went to school with like every US President since Teddy Roosevelt and still think the Rockefellers are new money. They're personal friends with Beyonce and can get her to perform at private parties. They can rent out an entire three-star Michelin restaurant and fly out to one for every date. They have top-line penthouse apartments in every major city in the world. They can buy a luxury sportscar instead of hiring a vehicle anywhere they visit and then just toss the keys to the nearest person on their way out (Arab royalty is known for this appearently. There's been some very lucky parking valets in the UAE iirc).

Bruce is as rich as Ra's Al Ghul, regularly make social calls to heads of state and his family has a history of being king-makers. Every one of Bruce's children, from Dick to Jason to Cass, is poised to inherit one of the largest and most powerful empires in the world. That means every time Bruce adopts an orphan off god-knows-where, the entire global elite is thrown into consternation and horror. Even Tim is barely acceptable to these people because he doesn't have the pedigree. I don't follow the reboot comics so Idk if Duke is adopted, but it would be so fucking funny if he was because they'd react a lot like the British establishment did to Meghan Markle (except the family and WE would have Duke's back completely). As for Damian, the fact that he's not white would get him snubbed if everyone who's anyone didn't 100% know who Ra's Al Ghul is. And they're fucking terrified because, for maximum hilarity, they probably figure that Bruce doesn't.

I just find it incredibly fucking funny when I'm reading fics that the writers can only imagine Bruce and the kids's civilian privileges extend only to "big house", "a lot of cars" and "Gotham famous". Lol. Lmao even.

a lovely polyrhythmic instrumental piece with previously-featured tuesdaysong artist, terrifying master of the cello, abel selaocoe. this is very textured and kind of scrubs at the inside of my skull in a pleasing way. like the kind of back scrubber you can buy with a bamboo handle and the long soft bristles. popped up on my recent releases playlist from spotify.

really fucking pissed about this book and i am not able to be reasonable about it. i was really thrown, much like the fantasy prince's mother from her carriage as she was being chased by regency gossip reporters, that this was a prince harry/meghan markle RPF AU. i am a bit uncomfy about the fact that our female lead, the fantasy AU meghan markle, is some flavor of fantasy Gaelic instead of fantasy mixed-race. now, i have no particular moral or physical beef with RPF but i don't typically seek it out. but/also/and, much like works about marilyn monroe, i think works with the specter of princess diana are in poor taste. can we leave these women alone maybe

i got about halfway through the book before this revelation and didn't really feel like it succeeded at much of anything it was trying to do. oddly informal and choppy, like it was originally intended as a contemporary romance with some urban magic and changed to regency in a late draft. this is combined with some fairly weak prose: more simple sentence structure than i would expect in a book for young adults, far too many proper nouns, and a lack of interest in showing not telling.

i straight up don't understand why the leads are attracted to each other if she keeps making very public mistakes and he's a rude cunt. i have read other books (most recently the t kingfisher books) where someone grows to love a very gruff or taciturn man, but it takes time and mutual trust and an effort on both sides, none of which happen here. the core conflict is duty to family in all its various forms vs the heart wants what the heart wants. the conflict is not much of a conflict, though, because characters come to realizations within three sentences of confronting them and then vocalize them with therapyspeak. someone literally pats someone else's hand and goes, "It's hard, I know." the author mercifully did not describe the sad little pursed sympathy mouth but i'm sure it was there.

i'm also deeply annoyed with how this author chose to go about characterization. while the character concepts are people i would love to meet in a ttrpg, it feels very concerned about Good Representation and it makes everyone feel very wooden. i think when you put together characters from a list of various oppressions and disabilities it starts feeling like a grownup version of a children’s ensemble show meant to sell little blind box figurines. here is the Chronically Ill one, and her color is pink! here is the Addicted one, and his color is green! here is the Goth and Depressed one, and her color is black with some bones! here is the Gay one who was once badly hurt by the Addicted one, and we don’t care enough about him to give him a color! here is the superficially fantasy-Jewish one, and we don’t care enough about her to give her a color or an action figure either!

while normally i would love to read a book with two! TWO! canonically bisexual leads of different genders! this book is written for the "folx" spectrum of gays instead of the "fags" part of the spectrum and it strays very close to a modern morality tale for me.

this popped up on a list of books with bi leads i think, but if it was here or on libby i cannot remember.

anyway! fucking hated this one.

pleasantly surprised these came in back to back off my holds lists, bc they are about the perfumer Grace and Grace's former landlord, the spy Marguerite. my favorite of these Saint of Steel series is still the one with the werebear nun. i have nothing to complain about these books and not much to say about them either. they were such a delightful and competent change of pace after the annoyance of the previously discussed book.

oh i loved these. oh i LOOOOOOVED these. how the fuck does novik do it. she is so good at capturing the very specific feel of a grandpa military historical novel. except with dragons. i love these in the same way i know i will love the patrick o'brien books if i ever get around to reading them. i was a navy brat and unfortunately this is fucking catnip to me. truly i have inherited all my father's tastes

largely fallow week. i don't have anything particularly great to say about The Bad Batch, but when have i ever. have not caught up with dunmeishi bc my siblings have once again inadvertently locked me out of the netflix account i pay for. considering a vpn for many reasons but watching netflix and watching porn (the state of texas does not want me or anyone else to watch porn within her borders) are the two big reasons for. idk. cashing out the paltry cash-back credit card rewards and coughing them up for a vpn. vpn opinions welcomed, i know most of them are straight garbage

i straight up ran out of money in genshin, which is pretty hard to do since they're pretty generous with it? i have spent several million in-game currency on leveling up neuvilette (i am so so so happy to not have to collect any fucking starfish mats for him anymore [mats are different materials you have to collect or buy in-game in order to level up a character. very grindy most of the time]). anyway i am now scrabbling around for the last couple chests and puzzles i marked on my map in fontaine. i haven't bothered with grinding for his specific boosting artifacts or leveling up his talents all the way yet but this is really not shabby. i have the bad habit of completely levelling up all my 5-stars and then ignoring them until i need them for a specific fight or a specific level of the monthly..battle royale puzzle? i don't really know how to describe the abyss. anyway when i do eventually need his pretty intense water AOE attacks i will frantically grind for his talent mats. right now we're grinding for other things thanks

this latest update contains both the best and worst new areas so far. the underwater lost city of Remuria is a fuckin banger. gorgeous. incredible puzzles. very fun music-based quest line with new abilities and giant whale. however, im kind of disappointed by the new coastline area in the map: there is pretty much nothing there. almost no interactable plants to harvest, very few enemies, almost no chests. i get that they are focusing their time and attention on the new underwater area everyone will be focusing on (killer, btw, super dense and great use of vertical space). very lore-heavy expansion, sort of what if atlantis was a bit roman-inspired and also. hold on. wait a second.

sorry this has just occurred to me at 10:21 PM on Monday night as im drafting this but oh my god are the fucking fontanians the Sea Peoples of the bronze age collapse. this is hysterically funny lore if true. im going to have to go back and reread a lot of the environmental storytelling notes but oh my GOD that's extremely funny if true. genshin has some of the most batshit lore of any game ive ever played and im so sad that so few game journos are focusing on it.

where was i. leveling up characters in legally-not-france who may or may not be descendants of the sea peoples. i often find myself leveling up characters in genshin not based on how useful they are to the party but by how fun the bosses i need to fight for their mats are? for example: neuvilette is a water-based AOE character with not a lot of on-field time. however this big electric seahorse, whose antlers i need to level him up, is really fun to fight and i can knock it out in about thirty seconds.

my sister's birthday is tomorrow! my birthday package to her was kind of heavy on stupid little trinkets and art books and not very much like. homemade? so i cranked out a little sampler. it's framed i promise i simply forgot to take a picture of it framed. about 3"x3", slightly adapted from a piece in Julie Jackson's Subversive Cross Stitch. i do think the F and C turned out way better (or at least the backstitching stands out way more) but hey. sometimes you need to hastily stitch a gift with the limited colors you have on hand

Howl rushed over to Markl and Sophie, adjusting his shirt with a soft smile. "Markl, I hope you're ready. Sophie, you too." 

Sophie donned a hat and joined Howl, asking, "Where are we going?" 

Before he could finish his explanation, Markl interjected with a happy yell, "We're visiting Y/N!" The boy was ecstatic, jumping around in joy. 

"Y/N? Who's that?" Asked the curious girl.

Markl was eager to explain, but the wizard interrupted him and clarified, "Y/N is my friend, but she works hard, so I don't visit her often." 

"Y/N resides deep within the forest and despises it when the Master's castle intrudes upon her territory. She even sent a flock of birds after Master once," Markl exclaimed excitedly.

The wizard chuckled at the memory and confirmed, "That's precisely why we'll leave the castle here and walk to her. Enough chatter, let's go." He then opened the door, signaling for them to follow.

The forest was quiet, almost as if it was sleeping. Only sounds filling this air was the wind playing all over the place, ruffling the branches of trees and grass.

The day was warm and serene, the sun shining down through the thick canopy of trees. 

As you strolled along the forest path, carrying a basket brimming with fruits and herbs, you hummed softly to yourself. Your tail swished behind you with each step, though your ears twitched uncomfortably in the light breeze that was tickling your fur. 

As a wolf hybrid responsible for the welfare of the forest, life was far from easy, with days often unpredictable. And this day was about to prove no different.

After arriving home and putting away the basket, you let out a soft sigh and stretched, emitting a low growl. Suddenly, your ears perked up upon hearing someone approaching. It was rare for people to venture into the forest, let alone come so close to your hut. The visit was certainly suspicious.

As you made your way towards the source of the noise, you furrowed your brows and moved cautiously. Suddenly, a loud and joyful shout rang in your sensitive ears, startling you. However, you managed to catch the person who was running towards you. It turned out to be none other than Markl, a boy you knew. You couldn't help but laugh as he hugged you tightly.

"Y/N! I missed you!" He exclaimed.

You hugged him back, equally delighted to see him. "Oh, Markl! I missed you too! I am so glad to see you."

"Master Howl is here as well. Sophie stopped him to watch rabbits play!" The boy explained. "I am sure you will like her."

Your ears twitched as you listened to him. Now you were curious who Sophie was, but also you felt excited to see your friend again.

Just a few moments later, you saw him approaching; Howl didn't change much. He looked just as charming as always. You set the boy back on the ground and ran to greet him, practically jumping into his arms.

The young man effortlessly caught you and twirled you around, returning the hug with happiness. "Look at this! A wild forest beast has attacked us. How scary."

You couldn't help but laugh heartily at his jest. "Should I be scared that you came to my forest? At least you left that castle far away," you rolled your eyes and sighed. "It's great to see you again."

"Likewise, Y/N. I missed you, and I want you to meet someone," he set you down and gestured to Sophie with an open hand. "I would like to introduce you to my beloved Sophie. Sophie, this is my dear friend Y/N."

"Hello," the girl greeted you shyly with a wave of her palm.

You greeted Sophie and took a closer look at her while sniffing the air. She smelled sweet like a meadow full of flowers, making your ear twitch in interest. "It's nice to meet you Sophie! I'm glad he finally found someone decent. Come on, let's go inside. I'll make some herbal tea and cake," you said, leading the way with your tail swaying from side to side.

The whole visit was pleasant, allowing you to catch up with your friend and get to know Sophie better. She seemed like a kind and courageous girl, and you were starting to like her. However, a nagging worry lingered in the back of your mind: now that Howl had found his one true love, would he abandon your friendship for good? As you tried to put on a friendly demeanor, Howl was the only one who noticed your mood shift, indicated by your drooping tail. 

When night overtook the whole forest, you offered for your guests to spend the night in your hut to spare them from wandering in the wilderness. After preparing their rooms, you excused yourself to take a nighttime stroll to ease your mind and check for any disturbances in the woods.

Unbeknownst to you, someone trailed behind you. Eventually, you arrived at a vast meadow beneath a sky filled with countless twinkling stars. They were so numerous that you could not even begin to count them, each one more beautiful than the last.

As you closed your eyes and enjoyed the peaceful moment, you suddenly felt weightless, as if you were floating. Your eyes flew open in surprise, and you let out a gasp.

"Taking your beautiful ears, I was hoping you would hear me. Let me help you," your hand was grasped by another, bigger palm while an arm wrapped around your waist, steding you in a position resembling a regular one. "I thought you'd like it."

Looking up, you saw Howl with a warm smile on his face. 

"I do like it," you growled, slightly offended. "But next time, warn me before you do something like that!"

He only chuckled. "So? Will you dance with me? We haven't done this in a long time."

You nodded and let him lead the dance, since you felt a bit rusty and slightly uneasy. It was indeed a long time. 

The fact that you didn't look at him even for a moment didn't escape his attention, at least he could tell you're relaxed. "I noticed that during our little hang out, your tail and ears dropped. Mind telling me what's wrong?"

Immediately, you looked up at him, your ears and tail visibly stiff as you blushed deeply. "I-It's nothing. Really."

"Is that so?" He hummed, spinning you around a little. Of course, you didn't convince him.

Letting out a deep sigh, you decided to finally tell him the truth. "Fine. There is something bothering me," he simply nodded, encouraging you to continue, so you did. "Sophie is a wonderful person, I can tell she is perfect for you, but... I am just worried that now you will forget about me completely."

Your feet suddenly touched the ground. "Sit down," was all he said, and you followed, taking a seat on the grass. He joined you soon, wrapping his arm around your shoulder.

Howl asked, gently playing with your ear fur, "Y/N, you have been my friend for a long time. How could I ever forget about you? Look at the sky. How many stars are there?"

You looked up and nodded, gazing at the countless stars. "There are so many. Too many to count."

"And that's for how many years we will be friends. We will be friends forever."

You looked at him, blinking back tears. "Do you promise?"

Suddenly he pulled you closer, hugging you tightly with a soft laugh. "Of course I promise!”

Returning the laugh, you nodded, hugging him tightly. "I take that promise! And I promise to be your friend forever!"

You and Howl sat there, wrapped in each other's embrace, watching the stars in the sky. As the night wore on, you eventually went back to your hut to get some sleep.

I’m sure this would have been mentioned but could they have changed their last name to Sussex so that when Meghan divorces Harry she has the Sussex surname instead of Markle so she keeps the Royal connection?

No. Meghan's surname has legally been Sussex since May 19, 2018.

It's the children who haven't been able to use 'Sussex' as a surname. The "we finally have the same last name" comment is meant to cause outrage in people who don't know what has really been happening or how titles and styles work. It's a 'fuck you' to Charles.

Meghan still gets to keep the title after a divorce. Under the divorce protocols, Meghan becomes Meghan, Duchess of Sussex instead of Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, as she has been known since Megxit*. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex becomes her title for life unless she remarries and takes her new husband's name; however, that is only an assumption. Neither Diana nor Sarah have remarried so we don't actually know where the palace actually stands on this.

*Meghan's full official title is Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex but use of the HRH went into abeyance per the terms of the Sandringham Summit/Megxit. The HRHs still belong to her and Harry, they just can't use them. This is why they're fighting so hard for half in/half out - being "in" (even if only part time) lets them use their HRHs again.

A disclaimer first - I'm not an expert by any means on titles. My knowledge on titles comes from the royal books I've read and it is totally possible I may be wrong on any of this.

When Harry was getting married, Queen Elizabeth gave him a new title, The Duke of Sussex, as a wedding gift. This is an important distinction to make - the title was given to Harry only, not to Harry and Meghan. (I see a lot of newer fans/royal watchers making this mistake.) When Meghan married Harry and became his wife, she took The Duchess of Sussex as her new married name (with Duchess being the female equivalent of Duke). Meghan is also able to use Harry's HRH in this way too; she only has HRH because it's Harry's and she assumed it as part of his Duke of Sussex surname.

Royal family protocol is that if you have a title - whether it's your own or courtesy of your husband or father - then that title becomes your surname. Hence Kate calling herself Mrs. Cambridge and George being registered for school as George Cambridge. If you don't have a title, then you use the family's surname, Mountbatten-Windsor.

Princess Anne was the first person to use Mountbatten-Windsor in an official capacity when she signed the marriage register with Mark Phillips. Lady Louise (Edward and Sophie's daughter) is the first person to actually be known with Mountbatten-Windsor as her surname; her actual name is Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor. And also William used Mountbatten-Windsor as his surname when he sued over Kate's topless photos, which suggests that the titled members of the family may use Mountbatten-Windsor in a personal capacity.

Because Harry and Meghan declined titles for their children, Archie and Lili's surname at birth were Mountbatten-Windsor. So the family was The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor. Even if Harry and Meghan had allowed their children to use their titles from birth, they still all would've had different surnames: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Earl of Dumbarton, and Lady Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.

But now that Archie and Lili are grandchildren of the monarchy and eligible to use HRH Prince/Princess honorifics (per the 1917 letters patent), Harry and Meghan have changed their minds on allowing Archie and Lili to use titles. So now Archie and Lili can use their own titles (technically Harry's title) and now everyone finally has the same surname under family protocol of using Dad's title as their surname - all four of them are now legally HRH ____ of Sussex, even though the HRHs are in abeyance.

This is where the 'eff you' to Charles comes in: if the BRF had just done a new letters patent for Harry and Meghan's kids when she was pregnant with Archie (as they did for William and Kate) then all of this would have been avoided in the first place. So in Harry and Meghan's eyes, it's the BRF's fault they're weren't a 'real' family until just now when they all began using the Sussex surname.

Other than remarrying after a divorce or Harry's death, the only way Meghan loses Sussex is if the title is removed from Harry - voluntarily, by Parliament, or by Charles. If Harry doesn't have the title, then Meghan can't use the title and neither can the children. If this were to happen, then Harry becomes The Prince Harry ('The' signifying he is the son of the reigning monarch), Meghan becomes The Princess Harry, and I'm not sure what Archie and Lili get.

In this case, I can see Harry and Meghan legally changing their family's surname from Mountbatten-Windsor to Sussex so the family can continue being Sussex without Harry having the title but I can't see anyone taking it away at this point, even if Parliament did change the laws. What's probably more likely is a letters patent from Charles that converts the Sussex title from "Harry and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten" to just Harry and only for his lifetime (as Charles awarded Edward the Duke of Edinburgh title).

Care to share some stuff about Howls Moving Castle? I haven’t been able to fully comprehend Howls dynamic/style/personality yet.

FINALLY I CAN ANSWER THIS ASK (midterm season is awful)

While book and movie Howl are very different I do think they share a lot of core traits that define both as Howl instead of it being two different characters.

Both Howls have a level of mischievousness to them and like to have fun at times when everyone else is distressed. We don't get to see it as much in the movie but the two most prominent moments are when they escaped Suliman and when Howl takes down the ship in the flower garden. You can see him making fun out of the situation and causing trouble in a way that feels akin to someone who would pull pranks or tease. This is inline with his book counterpart who we see get to be a menace and constantly pester and annoy Sophie, doing various antics both plot relevant and "I just want to be a menace today."

Both Howl's also have a lot of heart and care for others, although book Howl does not show it as much like his movie counterpart. The whole reason the pact is made between Calcifer and Howl was because Howl pitied the shooting stars because they died upon impact with the ground, and we see him take in people from the street like Sophie and Markl (or Michael in the book). The movie though has Howl's affection being more open and clear to the audience because we don't get to spend time just with the characters like we do in the book, book Howl puts on the "I don't care I'm gonna go be a womanizer now" front but by the end of the book when it's revealed he is in love with Sophie and has been his actions become much more obvious.

In terms of vanity, Howl is a vain person when it comes to his own appearance. We only get to see it through his hair freak out and his fashion in the movie, but in the book we get a lot more of it especially when he's trying to be a womanizer. Book Sophie in the second book Castle in the Sky states "And he's sly and selfish and vain as a peacock and cowardly, and you can't pin him down to anything" (which she doesn't say out of malice for him in the moment, they're literally looking for Howl in this scene and her and Howl already have a kid) so in the book it's undeniable. However, in the movie, the Howl we see is much more noble (something the author even stated) and we only get that one moment when it came to Suliman that shows any level of cowardice from Howl.

Overall, the major difference between the movie and book Howl is that book Howl is very clearly a bad boy womanizer with a heart of gold while movie Howl is more of a mysterious guy who's a little bad but still has that heart of gold. I do think that we could've seen more of the Howl from the book if the movie was longer and we got those months Sophie was just living with them, but that probably would've killed the animators and Miyazaki movies don't tend to have moments like that in the film.

Both Howls are down bad for Sophie from the very early on though and I think it's safe to say he knew Sophie was the old woman in the movie from the start like he does in the book. In the movie, he's been looking for Sophie because of what she tells him when she goes back in time and I believe that not long after he starts to get to know her as old lady Sophie he falls for her (the scene where he watches her sleep literally has a track called "Unspoken Love" so he had to be falling by then). In the book, he sees her and thinks she's pretty when they first meet but it takes a bit for him to fall for her once she's old Sophie and then he falls hard and going back through the book it becomes very clear that he did when you look at his actions instead of his behavior with Sophie. Him and Sophie in the book have the "arguing is their love language" dynamic.

Oh oh so you’re gonna have the Dimileth fic kinda go like Meghan and Henry with the media and tabloids being obnoxiously racist? I’d love to see that!

I don't want to give to many spoilers but so I'll just say kindaaaa.

This story was inspired a bit by Crazy Rich Asian, a bit by Spencer, a bit by Red White and Royal Blue, a bit by the Crown, a bit by my love of gossip and video essay on youtube.

Specially with Red White & Royal Blue, this video I watched joked about how the book felt like it's from the Obama/Hamilton™ era as it is clearly optimistic about government (and by extension, the British monarchy.) We had a black president, gay marriage was legal, Thomas Jefferson had a miku binder, racism was literally over.

I did not want to do that. I know why RW&RB did what it did, queer & poc people deserve our cheesy fictional romcom where we can overlook the horrors of the monarchy/government for the sake of wish fulfillment. If the Straights can have a million hallmark prince charming movies, we should too. But, what I thought was odd was that RWRB did mention how horrible, outdated, and oppressive the monarchy is, and yet Prince Henry still stays in the family? The monarchy just becomes progressive overnight? Storytelling wise, I thought that was an odd choice. Why even mention the horrors™ if you're not going to address them critically? I honestly think that why Yuri on Ice did it better. By just having an alternate world where homophobia(and racism) doesn't exist, you can just have your cute queer/poc romcom.

I have been (trying) to set up that the monarchy is bad, both to its members and because of its ties to British colonialism. Like I strongly believe that you can't just slap a rainbow flag on the monarchy and call it a day. Dimitri's mom was pushed to an extreme and was not given any of the mental health support she needed. Rodrigue tried to comfort Felix by saying that at least Glenn died in service of the Crown (while they were literally doing colonizer things in the Middle East). Rhea's mom was a random civilian killed by loyalists (*cough cough colonizers*) Sitri was forced to go to a residential school to be Christianized and stripped of her culture. Both events are rooted in British colonialism and by extension, the monarchy and its legacy.

I just think it would be irresponsible of me to have Byleth, a half-indigenous half-Irish girl, and not address it. Like irl the tabloids and the monarchy couldn't be normal about Meghan Markle, what would they say about our favorite working class autistic brown rural girl?

thoughts on The Buccaneers (so far)

I am now and forever a Conchita stan and apologist and want nothing but good things for her. She's hot and she knows it, she's loud, unapologetic, and (so far) has been allowed to make mistakes in a way where she still feels sympathetic (though Nan is all "does everything need to be about you wah wah" despite being the biggest inadvertent attention whore on the show lol). Her fears of her dark-skinned daughter being perceived the same way she is by English society felt so raw and real. Her English in-laws basically pull a "we don't see color" with her and that, combined with her fears about how her child is perceived and being compared unfavorably to her white sister-in-law (said sister-in-law also says some coded racial shit) was giving Meghan Markle and her trials with the royal family.

Also on a romance level Conchita has had the best arc so far; her husband is a second son who is definitely growing a backbone against his family and the chemistry is THERE. hopefully they grow stronger together bc there was a lot of unsurety initially despite marrying right at the beginning

Some posters pointed out that Charles and Camilla do leak while, William and Catherine do not. This is true. It is more nuanced than how the reporter to NYMag described it, and I'm guessing that's perhaps their experience versus other rota members.

Charles is notorious for leaking, especially against his sons, and is "friendly" with royal reporters.

However, I'd like bring up a different element here. The Sussexes and co. claim the rota was unfair to Meghan and portrayed her in a negative light. Well...let's look at a reporter of their ire, Rebecca English of the DailyMail, and some of the headlines of her reporting in 2019.

Underlying energy

Queen of Cups - this is Camilla. This is Cancerian card, representing mothers, grandmothers, creativity, loving and giving. She will be a positive influence on KC and will sustain him and support him in all that he wants to achieve.

Situation

The Magician - KC is in a position where he has all resources at his fingertips and the ability to use them to make things happen. This is a powerful manifestation card. He can literally make anything happen right now. HIs power is endless. I think we will see a lot of decisions in the next six months as he shapes the BRF into his version of the Monarchy. The thought that comes to mind is future-fit.

His challenge

Kind of Swords - This could be PA, this is an Acquarian card. It could mean that KC sees PA as an impediment to be dealt with swiftly. However, this card could also literally represent KC himself and the approach he will take in the next six months. The energy is rationale, stern, disciplined and fair. This is a coldly intellectual king with quite fast moving energy. I think what the card is saying in this position is that KC will surprise us with the speed at which he moves and the almost ruthless way that he will resolve long-standing issues. He will be way more decisive than we ever imagined. This is a cutting energy and I think his intention is to excise the unnecessary and problematic. Anyone who is a problem or troublesome should be forewarned. There is no second chance energy here. I am feeling the message, one strike and you're out. The warning to KC in this card is that he should be careful not to overdo his exercise of his power, lest he be accused of being cold-hearted, manipulative, arrogant and ruthless. What I am feeling is that he uses strategy, diplomacy and even deception to extract confessions of the truth. Oh wow. Could it be that he is digging into the provenance of Invisibet and Archificial? The imagery on this card in this deck is a magpie flying away with five swords while leaving behind two crossed swords on the ground. His back is turned on the two remaining swords. I see the five as the former-Cambridge five and the two being the Sussexes, or the two Sussex children. The words I am hearing are a firm and final cold-shoulder and I hear the slamming of a door.

The Immediate past

The Ace of Wands - This is literally a new beginning card, it is fiery energy and also male power and virility. Goodness this reading giving off immense power... This is an auspicious card that overules all other negative cards in a spread. It is signalling that in all areas of his life and rule KC will succeed. It is telling me that he will be a very successful King.

What happens next

Five of Wands - This deck is so magical and I am literally groaning every time I pull another card. The five of wands is anger, chaos, arguments, conflict and battles. I hear lots of raised voices. Wands also represents commucation and can be PR. I think the PR battle is about to commence. We have seen hints of it. I am seeing a wall fire unleashed like a tsunami of fire, the words scorched earth is coming to my mind. He is NOT going to hold back. This is fierce and fiery and short-tempered. I would advise anyone who wants to escape the next six months unscathed to stay on the right side of KC.

What will we see in the broader social context

Page of Cups - This is a court card, a younger energy than KC. It belongs to the element of water and water signs. Traditionally a a Piscean card. I think this is Prince Edward who shows up, I think we are going to see him taking on a much more prominant role in KC court.

Others views

Five of Pentacles - Oh boy, others around KC see him going through quite a lot of adversity in the next six months. This can foretell failing health of job losses, it is the card of poverty, social exclusion or financial losses. What the card is telling me is that KC is going to put up a fight but that in doing so he possibly suffers extreme stress, possibly sadness and loneliness, remembering that the Ace of Wands diminishes all negative cards in the spread, I don't see this being a dangerous illness but could be something that has him laid low for a couple of weeks, nor is it a large financial loss, I think that it is of a petty nature.

His hopes and fears

Three Cups - KC is hopeful that the family can be brought to a close and loving state and that there will be celebrations in the next six months, so it is not all bad. This card is linked to Cancer and Mercury, and Mercury is the planet of communication, so I am feeling that this card in this position is telling us that he is hopeful of being able to share good news that is such that it will be a celebration for the whole family.

Outcome

The Devil - This card represents toxic relationships, bondage and addictions, greed, lust, materialism, and destructive situations that are not possibly to heal. Usually I would freak out a little bit when I draw this card, however, the card's message of Wisdom in RW is "in one leap you can be free". The presence of the Ace of Wands in the spread also diminishes the power of all negative cards in the spread, so the positive aspect of the Devil in the upright position is that you can free yourself. My interpretation is read together with KC focus Queen of Wands, his approach King of Swords, his current situation The Magician is that without too much effort he will excise the Sussexes from the BRF forever. The Devil is very much associated with Meme and Has-bin. And she already showed up as being in his sights. He has recognised that the relationship with them can never be healed, so he can be ruthless and publicly denounce them. The Devil is associated with Capricorn. Since it seems that KC is pursuing the truth and confessions, I thing the truth will come out by January and the Sussexes will be gone.

I was drawn to take the next card as a clarifier to the Devil.

Wheel of Fortune - For those who showed up in this reading, Camilla, KC, Edward and Meme, there are changes in fortune. When this card speaks it says what goes up must come down and what was down rises. Camilla and Charles are on the ascent which only confirms that Meme is on the way down. I would like to think that Steady Eddy is going to have a positive change in fortune alongside his brother the King, perhaps the award of the Dukedom of Edinburgh, a position of COS will be the rewards he receives for his loyal support of his brother.

Conclusion

I don't read often with this deck and I reserve it for reading only on significant and positive matters, because I do not want it to be bogged down with negative energy. This is an extremely powerful reading. There is a real sense of strong and unbending Kingship coming off this spread. There is a also a strong sense of those who are loyal and trustworthy to KC will be protected and rewarded and that we will see this in the coming months. The dominant suit is Wands (3 cards) which suggests that his decisions will be publicly visible. The Outcome card and clarifier are major arcana, so the final outcome will be a very public one. Since the focus and the goal is Meme, I am concluding that the truth of Meme will be exposed. The end is nigh. Winter is coming and this King will not be deterred.

I’m in the UK. 24 hours later, how is the US media covering the revelations in Spare ?

Well, there's this, for one.

Most of the US shows have reported on The Guardian "leak," which I think says a lot about that leak. Someone was sending out press releases from her Hotmail account. The leak, of course, focused on the fight.

The one that has been going around was CNN's Don Lemon calling the memoir "gauche." Meghan's bots were criticizing the segment on Twitter so I guess that made a mark.

CBS covered it pretty neutrally. They called it "disappointing" and promote the Anderson Cooper interview. It's basically promo for them because they own 60 minutes.

CBS Morning was also 60 minutes promo with anchors questioning the motivation. I guess the interview will address that. Roya Nikkah talks about his long-standing resentments and the likelihood of a reconciliation summit. She expects a "recollections may vary" type of reaction.

Good Morning America also based their coverage on the Guardian leak (surprise!). This one is basically promo for the Stranahan interview. It has the "archnemesis" segment of the interview.

NBC actually got their hands on a Spanish copy, which is interesting. They don't mention the Guardian leak, which leads me to believe that they weren't part of the Sussex PR drive. They mention the Nazi uniform, losing his virginity, and drug use, which the other outlets did not.

NBC Today did mention the Guardian leak. NBC didn't have the book in time for the morning show yesterday. The correspondent says this is a nightmare for King Charles.

Fox News was very negative. They covered most of the content, not just the fight. They note that ITV, where Harry is doing his interview, is part of the royal rota that he supposedly hates.

Megyn Kelly covered it for her Sirius XM show. She had Tom Bowers on and was very negative.

I think the most noticeable aspect of the US coverage is how much it follows what we presume was the Sussex pr strategy--focusing on the Guardian leak and the upcoming interviews. It really illustrates how easy it is to guide the US coverage. All you have to do is give some exclusives.

The more cringe details that were published in the UK and overseas, were featured in smaller outlets like The Cut and Slate. The Cut is the only outlet, so far, to mention the "baby brain" comment.

Slate focused on the comments about Will.

Reuters, a news service, also did a list of revelations. Interesting that not many outlets have picked up on this and used the info.

Associated Press, the other big news service, focused on the fight.

Edit: I should have mentioned that Page Six, from the NYPost has been relentlessly publishing every single little snippet. There's just too many to count. They've covered EVERYTHING.

And People Magazine has also covered most of the drama, including the "baby brain" comment. They've skipped most of the genitalia stories because they're classy like that.

Oh, I see all the comments on my posts, even though I usually don't comment.

People are losing their minds over this without thinking any of this through. Mostly because they don't understand the situation or Charles. Instead they're resorting to apocalyptic thinking that would never happen, e.g. Sussex balcony appearances, Archie & Lilibet attending the coronation, etc.

Basically everyone freaking out about this demonstrates that they don't know anything about Charles or his plans to slim the monarchy. Instead, someone who does understand the immediate situation would be River on YouTube. I don't watch River's videos, but someone posted a summary of it on reddit:

Duke and Duchess of South Park were very angry that Archie was not styled a prince when he was born. They refused to acknowledge that letters patent only styles grandchildren of the monarch gets those titles, and at the time the queen was still alive.

Then the Oprah interview happened, where they claimed Archie was not given a title because of racism.

Harry's wife is panicking. She is not even being photographed with him. He was at a BetterUp event this week. She's been avoiding getting photographed for months, and now she suddenly gets papped and has her lapdog Scobie release photos of her at a charity. Someone is DESPERATE, and it isn't The King.

Everyone freaking out about the titles--and I mean EVERYONE who is acting as if this is the end of the world--is proving that they a) don't understand Charles and b) do not understand the British monarchy.

Twenty years ago, Charles would have been perfectly fine with Beatrice & Eugenie to have been downgraded to daughters of a peer. The person who wasn't down with that change was Queen Elizabeth II.

Guess what? Charles is in charge now. Not QEII.

I'm sure Charles thought the will Louise choose to use her princess title when she turns 18 drama was real cute. Likewise, I doubt he's going to endure that pr drama again in another two and a half years when James turns 18.

I'm sure when Charles issues his letters patent some of the same people whining about the situation now will be whining about how mean Charles is about taking James & Louise's title & styles away. And likely Beatrice & Eugenie's titles & styles as well.

Neither of those four will ever be working royals. Ever.

Does it make sense for Beatrice or Eugenie to be princesses twenty five years from now? When they were never working royals? When they are the first cousin once removed of King George VII? No, it doesn't.

Does it make sense for James or Louise to have the ability to choose to use an HRH style and prince titles 30 years from now either? Or whenever it suits them in the future? No, it doesn't.

This is why the letters patent that Charles will issue will be a big deal. It was never going to solely revolve around the Sussex kids.

But the people whining over the last two days aren't smart enough to realize that.

It's based on a principle very much applied in anti seismic constructions today, which I don't know the name of, but basically it allows a building to sway instead of shaking back and forth, so it won't just fall forward into another building, blocking the roads with rubble. It allows the stone to crumble and ultimately it preserves the lives of the people inside.

Take into account that this is 1758 and it's not taking into consideration tall buildings, but also, when the project for Lisbon's reconstruction is approved, that's the first time legislation is passed in terms of how to build a city and what a public façade is. In shorter words, it's the closest thing to building codes we have.

So the building code regarding the cage stated it would only work on buildings up to 4 stories high. Anything above that, no guarantee that the cage would be effective, and in fact, might just cause precisely what the cage was trying to avoid from the beginning: buildings falling forward onto other buildings, completely blocking any real escape route.

But most places you'll find these in is, of course, in downtown. Which means it's establishments like restaurants (I know of at least two that have it exposed).

It has since become a symbol of history so if a home has it, and especially one in the historic centre, it's going to add value to the apartment. And i mean value.

I don't know where that woman lives but I recall seeing a video where you could see out her window and she had a view over the river. I can't remember if it was high or not but if is, it's on a hill, which means that, depending what hill, that cage might have been moved there.

It could be that it's fake ofc. I can't fully judge that from a video. But from what I'm seeing, it does look like an authentic cage that was just moved. And you can tell it was moved because it sits on her floor and it's supporting nothing. A real cage would be inside the building (for it to work it has to be between the stone) and it would go through the floor, but it would not be visible.

So, all in all: houses in downtown lisbon are already insanely expensive (twice the price of an average apartment in Tokio). Now one with an historical artifact is even more expensive

Did WME Create and Fabricate the 'Dior Talks' PR Campaign It has occurred to me thinking more in depth about what really went down with PR blitz back in June that TW was supposedly 'in talks' with Dior for a 'mega' brand deal. I couldn't help but wonder if WME is involved in playing the same underhanded PR game as TW when it comes to the blitz/manifestation/attaching TW to Dior. So I did some digging. According to The Sun (linked below), a Dior source came out and said "There is no truth to the claims that she will partner with the French fashion house," also a Dior insider said its team was "nonplussed as to how the story came about". Hmmm... "nonplussed"?! Meaning they were surprised and confused how this story came about? So in other words, clearly they were NOT in talks with TW or doubtful even Harry for that matter because they would have said otherwise. So the question is, how DID this story that was nothing but a massive lie come about?I suspect that early on (prior to when all the crazy PR blitz went out saying TW was in 'talks' with Dior), TW caught wind that Dior was quietly looking at royals and others for brand deals/the new face of Dior. Really, this HAD to have come directly from WME (or someone in the know) because you can be 100% assured that exclusive brands at this high level have very strict confidentiality agreements and hold this information very closely who they are considering/negotiating with so other brands don't poach before a deal is signed. So after TW found out what Dior was doing, a PR blitz campaign was launched to spin/lie that TW was being considered in talks for a 'Mega Deal' with Dior was created and launched. BUT.... Dior clapped back almost immediately and said NO, it wasn't true. Also in June, WWD (Women's Wear Daily) reported in regard to where the story came from that "The narrative spun by many news outlets was that Markle’s talent agency in Hollywood, William Morris Endeavor, was pursuing a marquee fashion deal in a bid to blunt negative publicity surrounding her and her husband’s strained relationship with the British royal family, and their split from Spotify." So, I read this as a nice way to say that WME 'created' this story to offset the negative publicity. So in other words, it is believed among the media that WME fabricated the story. So with all of that said, THEN we get the story today in Deadline that that H&M believe that RF blocked the Dior deal THAT DIOR CONFIRMED NEVER EXISTED IN THE FIRST PLACE. So is this WME again with today's fabricated story or is this just TW gone rogue or both? I usually believe TW goes rogue because I can't imagine such a highly well respected firm like WME would ever put out such fabricated stories and spin but I think the truth is now clear. Furthermore, what kind of firm that is supposedly one of the best talent agencies in the world would base a PR campaign on such a blatant fabrication, risking getting caught (see WWD story below) and risking working with the brand and others in the future. Did they not think Dior would immediately call Bullshit? I can't imagine Dior was happy with all of this, especially since deals had yet to be signed at that point and the stories outed that they were in negotiations. I found this woman on Instagram trying to claim Meghan tried to leak about her relationship with Harry back in 2017 by posting Instagram photos with her wearing his bracelets. Like, I saw the picture they used as "evidence" but it's not even noticeable enough for people in the mainstream to notice. Even I, who knows what Harry's bracelets look like, was squinting.

I don't know if this person knows this . . . but if Meghan wanted to leak it . . . she would have just leaked it upfront like the several other women who have gotten involved with princes and then leaked it to the media. It would be way easier for her as well since she already had media connections at the time.

She also claims that it's "odd" that the statement defending Meghan was released after only eight days of the story breaking their relationship. She says something like, "Girl, no one even knew about you, your name surfaced less than a week ago." Just fully reinventing history and reality. What, is it 1859 suddenly? Do we have to wait for the local mule to finish its hike over the bordering mountainside before we get our news? Oh, no, the news mule driver of the village died of Cholera, so now we can't react to the news about Meghan Markle until two weeks after it was announced!

What this woman leaves out is that a slew of articles and racist threats of violence, including the infamous (Almost) Stright Outta Compton (it has its own Wikipedia page for a reason) were all published in early November. This is what prompted that statement to be released. Not, as she implies, physical harassment from the paparazzi (which also happened at increasing rates later on), but racism from the British media and social media. Yeah, things happen fast in the online era of media consumption. Nothing about this was odd, this person was just intentionally mischaracterizing things to make baseless speculations about Meghan forcing Jason Kanuf at gunpoint to defend her. It seems to be her whole online persona, where she "exposes" the royals and fake news but she has the media literacy of the average ROTA reporter, so it goes as well as you'd think. Her feminism begins by defending Kate from being relegated to "William's wife" and ends by actually critically thinking about how institutional sexism can benefit some women at the expense of others.

I don't really feel the need to link to the post or the account, but I sort of wanted to write about the absolute state of anti-Meghan content on social media. They are still speculating over things from almost six years ago that holds little significance today. Everything has become so redundant and stale. Honestly, I don't even understand how any of this is a bad thing, the Royal Family should be willing to defend the people who enter into relationships with their members. I don't care if they release statements 7 days after an official announcement or 7 seconds. No one should be subjected to mass media harassment, period.

People like her don't know how to be around men without becoming sexy and flirting...sending spices is a sign of over familiarity. Evidence that Meghan is not above providing sexual favors. Kashmir was from Toronto, but never heard of Suits or MM. Just like Amber, Meghan is not a good actress.

Everything she does is to lose every shred of anonymity. The mask slipped in her Suits junket w/Larry King & Patrick Adams---she can't help herself. She had it made, a dream job and anonymity but she wanted Brad Pitt level stardom. She was willing to lie her way to fame.

In reality, she's the stupid one for assuming that everyone else is stupid. Her lies are SERIOUS. Prior to Harry, people didn't think to go dig, so she lied.

The truth always finds a way out.

Not a shred of philanthropy. PR is not philanthropy as observed by Grayden Carter. She has no where to hide anymore.
