Guys be like: "God she's amazing. I want to make her mine."
Good Sir, she's a bunch of Taylor Swift lyrics, Gilmore Girls quotes, character traits that she picked up from the fictional characters in her favourite books and a sprinkle of childhood trauma in a trenchcoat.
I DON'T THINK YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE GETTING YOURSELF INTO.

Even after all this time and awareness, it feels like asexuality is still not treated like a proper sexuality. Recently had a girl tell me that she was at a place where she ‘felt so asexual’ because all the other girls were so beautiful and guys were ignoring her because of it. She didn’t know I was asexual and I didn’t take offence (I know she didn't meant it in a malicious way) but it does feel uncomfortable that people are using ‘asexual’ in lieu of ‘unattractive' or 'lacking sexual appeal.' It's really giving 90's/early 2000's slang of using 'gay' to mean 'lame.' Even shows like Brooklyn 99 which took immense pride in being progressive with their comedy, had an episode where one of the characters says "Oh, and I'm sorry if we implied you're both asexual nerds who can only be friends with service animals."
I have mentioned this before also, when I talked about how I feel like people are more comfortable erasing the identities of canonical aro/ace characters in media but act like it's unacceptable with other sexualities... but it does feel like asexuality (and aromanticism tbh) are still not considered 'real' sexualities. In the case of shipping fictional characters, I understand there is nuance to that issue and so don't want to get into it, but it does kinda add to my point.
Why is it that people treat asexuality like it's not a sexuality? Why is it that when I come out to people I'm met with insistence that I'm wrong about my sexuality, that I'm 'self diagnosing' (it's not a medical condition), that I'm probably 'just inexperienced' or haven't 'met the right person' or have a hormone issue? Why can't people just accept that it's a sexuality like any other??

A/N: AAAAAHHHH my wrists, fingers and elbows hurt but it's done. It took me literally all night to write this. If it doesn't show up in the tags, or if it horrifically flops, I do not care. I loved every moment I poured into writing this and I'll reread it until the end of time and YES I will write a sequel to it AND MORE because I love it that much. Just not right now because ouch. BTW this references what happens in "Plushie Problem" so if you're confused you should read that, too!
Premise: Anxious!GN!reader steps out of their comfort zone for the very first time in a long time. Of course, what could possibly go wrong? Featuring SunShrine and MekaMechanic cameos!
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol and assault (not SA). Otherwise it's safe to read!
Tumblr media
You feel the dread building up in your stomach as sun began to set over the horizon– but you were ready. Living your life in fear turned out to be exceptionally boring, even if you weren't exactly the loneliest person on earth anymore. This would be your big first step into interacting with the rest of the world and obviously there would be some anxiety. However, no one does anxiety as well as you do. There is where the problem lies.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" You can hear the worry in Sloan's voice. Perhaps you've started rubbing off on them.
"I think so."
You step outside the bedroom and smile, but even that seemed to be out of fear.
"I'm proud of you for trying this. You look amazing, by the way." Their compliment turns your anxious smile into a cheerful grin.
You've never dressed up this much before. It almost reminded you of an early 2000's Hot Topic ad, and they were dressed no differently.
Your beloved wraps their arms around you and pulls you in for a tight, comforting hug. They nuzzle their face to yours and you begin to feel the lead in your stomach lighten to feathers.
"Don't forget your backpack." They hand you your heart shaped backpack adorned with bat wings.
You open the zipper and check for everything inside: fidget toys, tiny weighted [favorite animal] plushie, protective ear wear decorated with stickers, anxiety pills, phone, wallet. That was everything.
"Are you ready?"
You take a deep breath in and exhale to center yourself before the door opens.
"I'm ready."
Tumblr media
The venue wasn't particularly crowded tonight and you were deeply thankful for that. Colorful flashing lights could be seen on both stories of the building with loud music playing from within. Then the anxiety hit you like a pound of bricks.
"We still have time to go home." Sloan offers, seeing apprehension beginning to form on your face.
"Maybe just twenty minutes... then we go home." You frown.
"Whatever you want to do, mi cielo."
You gaze down at the ground next and weigh both options in your mind. On one hand you could avoid anything unpleasant happening by just going home. On the other hand you'd miss you and your beloveds favorite band as the closing act. While arguing with yourself you can feel their arm wrap around your waist to help you feel safer.
Quite the conflict.
You swallow nervously and put on your hearing protection. "Okay."
The two of you approach the main entrance and your trembling continues. As soon as the door opens it feels like the music permeates you down to your very atoms. Never in your entire life had you heard anything so needlessly and obnoxiously loud. The ear protection helps slightly but you still couldn't hear yourself think. There's also no point in trying to talk as you wouldn't be heard anyway. Instead, you tug on Sloan's shirt and they turn towards you immediately. You point upwards towards the second floor and they nod.
The relief as soon as you stepped on the upper floor was immense. Whatever magic they used to make it monumentally quieter up here should be used considerably more in all public spaces. You feel confident enough to remove your hearing protection and place it around your neck for now.
"Do you mind if we stay up here?" You ask.
"Of course not. Wherever you feel safest!"
You're so thankful that they're understanding.
You both sit near the back of the venue on a row of interconnected seating where it was dimmer so the flashing lights didn't irritate your eyes.
"You're doing great so far!"
Sloan cups your face affectionately and you reach up to place your hand over theirs. The two of you watch everything going on from your safe little place in the corner– and the view was by no means bad, either. You could see the current band playing and the crowd of fans cheering their hearts out.
"Do you want anything to drink? I can get us something if you want." They offer.
"Maybe just a soda." You reply.
"Alright. You don't mind if I have a drink or two, do you?" They ask.
You shake your head. They pat your head and lean down to give you a kiss to your forehead before walking off. In the mean time you remove your backpack and hug it close to your chest in case you needed quick access. You watch as different people walk up and down the stairs, sit down, mingle and talk to each other and you can't help but wonder what it must be like to have a life without debilitating anxiety.
"Well then... didn't expect to see you here." A familiar voice sounds from behind you, and your anxiety spikes.
Once she steps out into view your nerves relax again.
"Illari? You're a fan of rock music? Also, you look gorgeous!" You smile as your friend comes to greet you.
"I guess we never really talked about music much. I didn't expect you to like it, either." Illari returns your warm smile, except when she does it, it feels like genuine sunshine. "You also look great!"
"Aww man, who invited this nerd?" You hear Sloan joke as they return with a beer and your favorite soda. They sit next to you with a grin on their face.
Illari takes a seat on the opposite side of you. "You're the one to talk."
She's not great at returning insults, but she tries her best.
The three of you exchange casual conversation for a little while as the first band concludes their performance and the next one begins setting up. For a while all is well, and your heart is at peace.
"So– you didn't tell either of us you liked rock music Illari!"
"I do! I promise. I'm also on a date–"
"A WHAT?!"
Illari giggles at Sloan's reaction. You have to admit you're also surprised.
"WITH WHO?!"
"Uh, with me?" A devious voice replies.
A beautiful girl approaches Illari and places a quick kiss to her lips.
"KIRIKO?! OH MY GOD!!!"
You've never met this girl before.
"We've been dating for a while. You just never noticed." Kiriko's eyes fall on to you. "Who's your date, then? I don't believe we've met."
Your hands grip your backpack even harder as the spotlight is metaphorically put on you.
"This is [Y/N]! I told you that I fixed their stuffie for them when all that... drama... happened."
"Oh! That's right. I'm really sorry that happened to you." Kiriko's face warms up after hearing your name. "I have a fox stuffie I made myself! I'd be happy to show you sometime!"
Illari stands up and Kiriko wraps her arm around her waist. "Well it was nice meeting you, [Y/N]! See you around sometime!"
You nod with a content look on your face. The pair wander back downstairs and disappear into the crowd. The music begins to play once again.
You turn towards your beloved and smile.
"I'm glad this is going better than expected." You admit, and the joy on Sloan's face is immense.
It was clear they loved seeing you enjoy yourself.
"And I'm glad you're having a good time, mi corazón."
The two of you enjoy your drinks in a comfortable silence before the song changes. A mosh pit almost immediately begins to form.
"OH! I gotta go join in–" They immediately stand up before the realization hits them. "Would you be fine if I went downstairs for a song or two? I promise I'll be back up here afterwards!" They grab your hands and beg.
You can feel your nerves activate at the thought of being left alone... but you didn't want to see your beloved disappointed.
"Okay. Just be careful!"
"I will be!" They head towards the stairs before turning back one last time. "I'll be back, I promise!"
Then you were truly alone. You clutch your backpack again before opening it for a fidget toy– a little button pressing mini game with cute sounds and visuals. It keeps your fingers and mind occupied for a small amount of time. More people continue to pass you by but you continue your game without looking up.
To your dismay, someone practically falls on to the couch next to you. The scent of alcohol assaults your senses and you attempt to ignore it.
Just mind your own business.
Just mind your own business.
Just mind your own business.
"Hey."
Oh no.
You look up from your fidget toy and your fidget toy session ends with a GAME OVER.
"Um, hi."
They're so drunk that they barely register your reply. You slide in the opposite direction of them when they're looking away from you. Your heart begins to pound and dread fills the entirety of your body. They turn back with a grin.
"You're pretty cute." Their words slur together.
"Oh! Uh, thanks." You fake a smile.
"How much?"
You thought you were hearing things, so you ask them to repeat the question.
"How. Much?" They hiccup.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I'm not who you're looking for–"
You start to get up before a hand grabs your hair. Pure, unadulterated terror fills your entire body and your nerves begin to sear in straight anxiety.
You knew it was a mistake to go out tonight. You knew it, and you went against your better judgement anyway.
"Hey! You didn't answer my question! How much? I can pay with whatever you want–"
"I'm sorry but I don't do that type of work!"
You wince and cry out in pain as they attempt to pull you back down.
"Hold on!"
Without any other choice you let out a scream to get other people's attention. All the heads on the second floor turn to see what's going on. Your hair is still being pulled on by a total stranger.
"Hey! Let them go, right now!" A tall, muscular girl shouts and makes her way over. A shorter, more petite girl follows behind.
"I'm recording right now! Let them go or we'll go to the police!" The shorter girl demands.
The drunk person finally lets go of your hair and you run as fast as you could with no direction in mind– but unknown to you, they begin to follow suit. A girl with spiky brown hair sticks her foot out and trips them after she lets you run past her.
You rush out the door and into the night with tears streaming down your face. You're heaving, screaming and running until you're lost and exhausted.
Tumblr media
"What's going on over here?" Someone in the crowd of the second floor asks.
"Can someone call the police? This person just assaulted someone!" Brigitte asks.
Security immediately arrives to escort the drunk person out from the venue.
"I got the whole thing on video." Hana places her burning hot phone in her back pocket. "Apparently in 4K and 60 FPS. My phone is on fire..."
"What about that poor person who ran? Are they okay? Should we go and look for them?" Lena suggests.
All three girls stare into the darkness of the night.
"Oh! Look! They left their bag!" Hana notices, walking over to it. "There's also two drinks. They obviously came here with someone."
She unzips your bag and digs through your stuff as carefully as possible. "That's not good. Their phones in here, and their medicine."
"Medicine? Do you know what it's for?" Brigitte asks.
Hana shakes her head.
"Oh! Angela might know!"
Lena takes a picture of your medicine and sends it directly to Angela– lovingly assigned the nickname "Dr. Mercy" in her phone.

🧡 AF Traysi ⏱️: no time to explain Angela!!! I promise it wasn't me though!!! (10:18 PM)
Another message from Angela pops up but Lena puts her phone back in her pocket.
"Angela said it was for anxiety."
"Well, we can't just let them wander the streets alone without their personal possessions, especially their medication... we have to at least try to find them." Brigitte adds.
"How do we even start? They could be anywhere by now!" Hana frowns.
All three girls look at each other in anticipation.
"Group chat?" Brigitte suggests.
"Group chat." Hana and Lena reply at the same time.

"SO, DO WE TELL THEM OR NOT?" Illari yells at the top of her lungs.
Kiriko and Illari glance at Sloan absolutely losing it in the mosh pit.
"WE HAVE TO! IT'S [Y/N]!" Kiriko replies at the same volume.
She turns and begins to brave the overly excited crowd. After what feels like hours of swimming upstream she reaches up and clasps Sloan on the shoulder. Instantly she feels their fist slam directly into her eye and she yells out in pain. Sloan turns around and gasps.
"OH MY GOD, KIRIKO, ARE YOU OKAY? I'M SO SORRY!"
Glowing blue petals float around her before she shakes her head to stabilize herself.
"THAT'S OKAY! MAGICAL FOX SPIRIT PROMOTES FAST HEALING!" She gets back to the important topic at hand. "LISTEN, [Y/N]–"
As soon as they hear your name they become dead serious. Unfortunately for Kiriko though, a massive wave of people separates the two of them and their conversation is cut short. She's forced back towards the entrance near Illari.
"WHAT DO WE DO NOW?" Illari asks.
"I HAVE AN IDEA BUT YOU'LL NEED TO TRUST ME!"
Before Illari can answer Kiriko begins a sequence of fast hand movements and more glowing blue petals begin to form inside the venue. People thought it was some sort of visual effect the band had planned on doing and grew wilder at the scene. A rush of wind courses inside the building as Kiriko's kitsune grants her the strength she needs to begin pushing people out the way, but is rightfully stopped by Illari before that happens.
"WE CAN'T JUST SHOVE PEOPLE, IT'LL START A MASSIVE FIGHT!" Illari pulls her back by her side.
"WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST, THEN?"
"LET ME SIT ON YOUR SHOULDERS!"
"THIS IS NO TIME FOR PIGGY BACK RIDES!"
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!"
In the middle of the planning Sloan begins to fight their way out of the crowd to the best of their ability, but it feels nearly impossible to move forward when you're being pushed back by dozens of people.
That's when they feel it– the breeze... their eyes turn teal blue.
From the very back they can see Illari waving their arms frantically attempting to call them over.
They move through the crowd effortlessly.
Illari hops off Kiriko's shoulders once Sloan makes it safely to their position before the kitsune's rush wears off.
"WHAT'S GOING ON?" They ask.
"UPSTAIRS! NOW!" Illari replies.
Tumblr media
The group of six huddle together in the back as the atmosphere around the venue slowly turns back to normal. Sloan goes through your backpack just to make sure everything is still safe inside. Thankfully, all is left mostly untouched aside from Hana's search from earlier.
"Sombra sent us this picture. We're pretty sure they're only a few blocks away, but we still have to hurry or else they'll be gone by the time we get there."
Brigitte hands their phone to Sloan.
"Oh God... I really shouldn't have left them on their own." Their tone is sullen and full of guilt, just like the look on their face.
"There's no time to blame yourself. We have to find [Y/N] before something else happens." Illari places a comforting hand on their shoulder.
They only nod.
"Okay. You, Kiriko and Sloan go one way. We'll go the other. The entire city is designed to lead back to the north. Don't ask me how I know that–" Brigitte starts to remember the struggle of trying to find this place, but there's no time for that. "If they are where we think they are then it should be easy to get to them from here. If not... then we'll plan something else when we get there. Let's just get going before we have to start planning again."
Nobody argues with that.
Tumblr media
"So, let me get this straight... you went to a music show–" Sombra begins counting on her fingers "Got assaulted by some random drunk person, ran, forgot all your stuff and now you're trying to find your way back?"
You nod while attempting to wipe your eyes dry. All of your smeared, ruined makeup had been rubbed off by now. A loud crack of thunder sounds in the distance announcing rain was on its way.
"Hm. Not the trickiest situation I've ever heard of..." Sombra then scoffs. "Definitely one of the funniest, though."
You crouch to your knees and began sobbing uncontrollably once again. "I'm going to die out here!" You shout, feeling totally helpless like a lost child in a grocery store.
Sombra watches as you begin having a genuine mental breakdown– does she actually feel bad, for once in her adult life...? Perhaps a little.
She pulls up a screen out of thin air and watches as the group of six people frantically searches for– what she's assuming is– this person in front of her. She raises an eyebrow as one of the colored dots on her screen comes close to her location but turns around at the very last moment.
"Wow." She comments as if she's watching a game. "These guys are hopeless."
"You're going to kill me, aren't you?" You accuse the girl in front of you with a real, sincere despair.
Sombra chokes back a laugh.
"No, I'm no murderer. Not yet, anyway." Now, she laughs. "I wouldn't waste my first kill on you, though."
You can't tell rather to feel insulted or relieved... so you go with relieved. It's not enough to stop your full on meltdown, however.
"Now, let's see. Oooh!" Sombra watches once again as one the dots come closer, only to make the same mistake of getting turned around. "Oh. They must be throwing. There's no way!"
Your crying becomes more intense. She sighs, closes the screen and rolls her eyes before hacking a nearby vending machine for two sodas. She walks over and proceeds to offer you one.
"Here. Don't tell anybody I did this, okay?"
It's your favorite soda.
"H-huh?" You take the soda with gratitude. "How'd you know?"
"It's my favorite, too."
You open the bottle cap and drink all of the fizzy contents inside. It feels refreshing to your scratched up and tired throat.
"Now stop crying." Sombra pulls up her tracking screen again. "Or at least be quieter. I can't hear myself think."
Out of fear for your life you do as the lady tells you, but not even a minute later...
"Ah. Finally. My work here is done."
You glance up only to notice the lady who helped you has completely disappeared.
"[Y/N]?" You hear Illari's voice in the distance. "[Y/N]!"
You stand up to greet her, but she nearly knocks you down with a charging hug.
"[Y/N]!" Kiriko follows suit, using her kitsune rush to pick you up and swing you around.
You're overwhelmed by the amount of attention you receive.
"Oh, sorry... maybe I shouldn't have done that."
You smile despite the anxiety. "It's okay."
"Hey! Good looking out, Illari!" The muscular girl you don't recognize runs up to you next. The petite girl isn't far behind, just like you saw them last.
There's two blinding flashes of blue light as another short, petite girl appears out of thin air. You thought she looked familiar... but there's no time to rack your brain right now.
"Oh, good! We all made it!" The petite girl– the one behind the muscular girl– cheers. "Wait, where's Sloan?"
You can hear loud, sprinting footsteps approach in the distance before everyone nearly gets knocked out of the way. "[Y/N]!!!"
They nearly knock you to the ground just as Illari had, only this time it was several times more intense. You feel their arms wrap around you in the tightest hug they've ever given you. You embrace them with relief flooding your tired brain. They hold the back of your head and nuzzle into your face as if they haven't seen you in years.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry," They start crying. "Mi vida, I'm so, so sorry..."
"It's okay. I'm okay." You reassure them.
Everyone is quiet as the reunion takes place and you feel all the trauma of tonight drain from your being as you're held by the person who loves and cherishes you the most. Neither one of you wanted to be the one who pulls away.
"Well not to be a downer but it's about to start raining!" Someone spoke. It was the petite girl who flashed into existence.
"And I think the last band just got done with their set. It's nearly midnight." Kiriko adds with sadness.
"Well... while we're here, why don't we give [Y/N] back their stuff?"
Sloan pulls away long enough to grab your backpack from the muscular girl. "Thanks again, Brigitte."
You place it on to your back and all feels right in the world once more.
"No problem!" The muscular girl responds. So... her name is Brigitte.
"Well, we might as well introduce ourselves! I'm Hana!" The petite girl behind Brigitte chimes in. "Like the number one gamer in South Korea type Hana!"
"I'm Lena!" The girl who blinked into existence speaks up next. "Like the, umm... Tracer type Lena!"
That name rings a bell.
"Overwatch?" You question.
"Well, yes, but it's our off day today!" Lena replies.
"Wow." Is all you can say.
You feel your invisible mask beginning to slip. You're not sure how much longer you can take being out here before another anxiety episode occurs.
"I don't want to be rude, it's really nice to meet all of you." You turn to your beloved. "But... can we go home?" You ask, tired and ready to collapse.
"I think that would be the best idea for all of us. Tonight has been more than eventful!" Lena suggests.
Tumblr media
From the shadows, Sombra watches as the group disperses after exchanging goodbyes. As soon as she was alone she picks up the empty soda bottle you accidentally left behind and tosses it into the trash.
"Hmph."
"Going soft?"
She can hear a mocking male voice on the end of the coms.
"Not now, Mauga."
"Haha! Thought so."
She simply just sinks back into the darkness she came from without a word.

Everything with an 8 or a 2, plus 50 😊
2. what's your favourite colour?
Purple!
8. would you rather watch a rom-com or a drama?
Depends on my mood, but I typically choose Rom-Com's. Though, honestly, (old lady thought coming on in 3...2...1...)I feel like they don't make rom-com's like they used to in the 2000's. There used to be like 2-3 a year. The last romcom I can remember seeing is Isn't it Romantic in 2019. But I did love that one!
12. i'm giving you a plane ticket, where are you going?
My husband and I have been looking into a trip to Germany, so I'm going to go with that.
18. cotton candy or ice cream?
Ice cream. I just had some the other night from our local shop that was vanilla ice cream with reeces peanut butter cups and pretzals mixed in...😳 sooo good!
20. biggest pet peeves?
Right now, people who choose to consume Fanfiction without interacting is the first thing coming to mind.
21. describe your style/aesthetic
Well, I work from home, so it's mostly sweats or yoga pants or pjs lol. But when I'm going out, I like casual but stylish. Dark wash jeans, blazers, nice tops. In the fall/winter I love pairing outfits with a scarf. In the spring/summer I like flowy tops. Idk that I really have any kind of 'set style'
22. what's your favourite thing about yourself?
My ability to perserve. When the cards are stacked against me and I'm in a shitty situation, I never just give in. I find a way to make things better and work my way to something better.
Also, my ability to find and surround myself with genuinely good people. I like to think I'm a very good judge of character.
23. what's your favourite day of the week and why?
Well, it used to be Friday's, but now it's Tuesday's. Tuesday's are Rookie days and we all get on her and go crazy together and I smile because it's the closest I'm going to ever get to us being in a living room together hanging out and watching our favorite show together.
24. morning or night person?
Night person. I have never been and never will be an early riser.
25. tea or coffee?
Coffee in the morning, tea at night.
26. you can only read one book for the rest of your life. what book is it?
Hmmm...I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jeanette McCurdy because it was so damn impactful.
27. you're stuck in a lift with your favourite tumblr account who is it?
Listen, it's a tie right now between @sisterofficerlucychen because we could entertain each other for hours and @queseraone because you'd make friendship bracelets, and we could talk Taylor Swift for hours.
28. do you have any siblings?
1 sister. I always wished I had more!
29. what's your biggest fear?
Dying, and the uncertainty of not knowing what's on the other side.
32. what is your comfort movie/tv show?
Aside from The Rookie, The Golden Girls. I used to watch it on Lifetime with my grandmother when I was growing up. I've seen every episode hundreds of times, and I still laugh like it's the first❤️
38. what is favourite gemstone?
Sapphire, such a stunning color!
42. favourite flavour of ice cream?
The aforementioned ice cream earlier in the post. But I also like Strawberry, Cheesecake, and Cookies and Cream.
48. what's your favourite fruit?
Mangos and Peaches
50. nothing. i just wanted to say that ily. ♡
😭😭 I love you too, you're the best, and I always smile when I see your handle on my page!

Just Watched GOTG3 For The Second Time So Here’s A Lot Of Info
wrote this ages ago and it has just been sitting in my drafts so here you go.
I absolutely adore GOTG. Every single movie was a masterpiece, but Vol. 3 is by far my favorite. I absolutely sobbed both times I went to see it.
the soundtrack is definitely my favorite of the three movies. I have a lot of siblings, and every single one of us grew up with a “who sings this, no cheating” dad. Music has always been a way that my family and I have bonded, especially because we are all very much so “I listen to anything” type people, so the perfect blend of newer and older music had me in tears, especially because every song could be picked apart individually with how symbolic they are to the plot.
SPOILERS FOR GOTG3
THE SOUNDTRACK
Every song in the soundtrack was perfectly tailored to the exact moment it was used, but these two stood out to me the most
Creep by Radiohead-
Radiohead is a band made for people uncomfortable in their own skin, and if you could pick one particular song to support that, it would be 'Creep'. This song as the opening is SO important, Rocket does see himself as a creep and a weirdo. He believes himself to be the black sheep, the odd one out. He's convinced himself that he's wormed his way into this found family, but that one day they'll throw him out like everyone else. It's why he's on the offensive so often in all the other movies, he's desperate to make them hate him before they can decide to do it on their own. At least he's in control when it's his own doing.
But they don't hate him. They can't hate him, and he is unable to comprehend that.
Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine-
Florence and the Machine is in my top 5 favorite bands, and Dog Days Are Over is in my top 5 favorite songs and it was so important for the plot of this movie. Because the dog days ARE over for the guardians. They ARE leaving their love and longing behind. They're moving on. They're becoming better people, who they really want to be. And if they aren't there yet, they're going to figure it out. They've been running their entire lives, running from the past and the people in it. But once they stop to take a breather they realize that it was never chasing them in the first place. "Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back" is so powerful here, because the guardians never expected this. They never expected anyone to be able to love them, to be able to make them smile and laugh. To be able to comfort them, bring them peace. But they found it, and it's not going away this time.
My all time favorite part of these songs being used however is that they are early 2000's late 90's songs because it so heavily symbolizes them moving on from the past.
THE CHARACTERS
Mantis-
Mantis is a wonderfully done character. At the end of this movie she realizes that in a sense Nebula is right. She realizes that she really is only there to support others. She is seen as the resident shoulder to cry on, but that might not be what she wants. She went with it because she thought it was all she had, but now she knows that this family won't leave her if she prioritizes her own wants and needs.
Drax-
In this story Drax comes to realize that he is more than a destroyer. It's such an important piece of him, and I think it will help a lot of young boys around the world. So often is the idea that a man, and a father, should be cold and emotionless, strong and unforgiving pushed onto these boys. I hope that this movie and Drax shows them that boys have feelings too. That they dance, and they cry, and they make monkey noises to cheer up crying children. I hope this movie shows young boys that they are more than just boys.
Peter-
Peter finally realizes that he spent too much of his life basing his self-worth off of others. If Yondu was proud of him, how much Gamora loved him, what skills and assets he brought to the Guardians. Now he's realizing that he needs to be his own person. He needs to find self-worth in himself.
Gamora-
In this we see just how different Gamora is. That she is not the Gamora we know and love, but that that does not mean we can't know and love this Gamora. She says no, she loves the Gaurdians and she loves that they love each other, but it's not for her. And that's okay.
Rocket-
Rocket is my favorite for a plethora of reasons. He's an incredibly well-done character. He's finally realizing that these people won't leave him. That he doesn't have to keep pushing them away so it hurts less when they finally leave. He's more than what was done to him. He's more than 89P13. He's Rocket. He's a friend. He's a person. He's a protector. He's a frickin' Guardian of the Galaxy.

Chapter 1 - The Meeting
Tumblr media
Summary: Reader POV. You are in your 40’s and own a boutique clothing store in a small mountain town. You’ve travelled all over the world before settling back here for now.
Next Chapter
CW/ not much, mostly fluff (for now)
The whole town is buzzing, an HBO show being filmed in your town is probably not something you’ll ever see again.  Your quaint boutique clothing store is along the Main Street which is being transformed to look like a simple and quiet commune, other parts of the small mountain town you currently called home was to be turned into other sets.  You have 3 employees; Lacey, a 25 year old aspiring clothing store owner, she had a good eye for fashion and held your hand when you got your septum pierced on your 40th birthday 2 years ago.  Micah, 35, they loved customers and customers loved them.  They had recently married their partner and followed him here where he worked in IT from home.  Lastly, there was Elliot; she was also 25 and grew up in this town with Lacey.  She started working to save for university but ended up meeting the love of her life and settling down in her home town instead. She recommended you hire Lacey when she returned from University.  Luckily, your store isn’t part of the set so you can keep working.  Everyday you and your staff talk about who might walk in.   There has been rumours that Pedro Pascal is in the show. As a huge Star Wars fan you secretly hoped so.
4 days into the shoot you have seen nothing.  Crew members and extras have visited your store, bought some items.  It wasn’t as glamorous as all that buzz made it seem to be.  As you and Micah start mindlessly putting security tags and price tags on new merchandise the familiar bing bing of the door goes off.
“Hello” “Good Morning”, you and your coworker say in tandem as you look up and see him.  Pedro.  He smiles “good morning”.  You freeze as your co-worker looks to you, as the boss, to take the reins on this one.  Instead, you feel your cheeks flush as you spin on your heels and make a beeline for you office right beside the cash desk.  Pedro and your coworker start laughing as she says “I have never seen her speechless before”.  There’s some muffled chatter between them and then a knock at your office door.  You open the door expecting your coworker and come face to face with Pedro.
“Hi, I couldn’t leave without meeting you officially.  I’m Pedro”.
You feel your cheeks flush again.  “Hi….Sorry, hi.  It’s really nice to meet you”.
He laughs a little “I love how Canadians are always sorry.  I’ve heard some of the crew talking about your store and I knew my sisters would…” He trails off as a framed picture in your office catches his eye.  “Is that Mano del Desert? In Chile?”  You turn back into your office and walk towards your desk.  You can feel his eyes on you as he follows you into the small office.  You suddenly feel shy about your travel, you love to talk travel. You spend most of your 20’s and 30’s living abroad.
“Yes.  I…I umm lived there for a while.”
Pedro smiles at you, “I don’t believe I caught your name”.
Your name sounds strange coming out of your mouth but so good when it comes out of his.  “Y/n.  Well, it’s really nice to meet you y/n.”
Your office has a glass desk and chair, 2 comfortable deep green arm chairs with a small table between them, all sitting on a white faux fur rug.  You sit in one of the chairs and he follows your lead, asking you about Chile.  In perfect Spanish you begin to respond, a small smirk appearing on his face, that you lived there for almost 4 years and working the hospitality business.
“When were you there?”
“2004-ish probably”
“No way, I visited my family quite a bit in the early 2000’s.  It’s a big country, but maybe we were there at the same time”
The more you two talk about your travels; Columbia, Cabo San Lucas, Costa Rica, New York, London, the more you two realize you’ve been narrowly missing each other for almost 20 years.
“Strange” you say breathlessly
“Very”, he replies.  Pedros phone beeps “oh shit! We have been talking for almost 2 hours!  I gotta go back”.  As he gets up to leave you follow him to your doorway, before he walks out the store he looks over his shoulder, mouths the word good bye with a little smile.  Bing, Bing.  Holy fuck, you’ll never hear that sound the same again.
Notes: why am I so nervous posting this? I have 1 more chapters that get more and more spicy. Let me know if you want me to post them! I'd love feedback so comment and I'll be eternally grateful!

NCT's Jaehyun on dialling up the ‘sexy lonely’ vibe in new single “Forever Only”
With his new song “Forever Only”, Jaehyun is ready to introduce two things: himself as a solo artist, and a new genre of music he has dubbed “sexy lonely”.
The Korean singer-songwriter just released his debut single as part of NCT LAB, a home where members of K-Pop’s enterprising, ever-expanding NCT can share the facets of their musical identity. Though this is his first official solo release, Jaehyun made his debut as part of NCT U, the 23-strong collective’s revolving unit, in early 2017 before finding his fixed home in the colossus’ Seoul-based subgroup NCT 127. In the 7 years since he was introduced, the softly-spoken, often-introspective vocalist has also lent his talents to acting, radio hosting and television MC-ing.
With its origins from record label SM Entertainment rooted in planting K-Pop all across the world, transcending cultures, language and physical location is weaved into the fabric of NCT. It makes up the DNA of not only its members, who hail from across Asia and North America (Jaehyun, though born and raised in Korea, also spent five years of his childhood in the States), but the lore the group is formed around. In their fictional universe, which appears in visual themes throughout their discography, the members exist in a sort of fantasy dimension where the only way they can reach each other is in an endless search through dreams. It offers us a symbol of the eternal pursuit of a life free from solitude, and the very human impulse to chase connection despite the environments around us.
These are themes that exist in Jaehyun’s partially self-penned lyrics for “Forever Only”, though they’re broadly less fantastical. They speak plainly of the gentle torture in seeking comfort from another’s presence, even when ties feel like they’re loosening – hence “sexy lonely”. He croons over a guitar-laced, vibey R&B melody which holds the kind of early-2000’s boyband key changes the earthy tones of his voice call for. Over video call from Seoul, Jaehyun speaks to GQ about some of his own personal firsts on the eve of his debut single.
First thing you do when it comes to composing lyrics…
Well, usually I think of the theme, then melody and then lyrics, but this time I thought of the loneliness in the song first. I thought of the image first this time, and it becomes quite easy to write the lyrics once you have that image in your head. For this song, [writing] was quite fast because I didn't have that much time. I’m just so excited to release a song filled up with my own voice and emotions. I really want [listeners] to feel closer and get to know more about the true side of myself through music.
First CD you ever bought…
I think it was the album from Alicia Keys, the one that has "If I Ain’t Got You" (The Diary of Alicia Keys, 2003). It’s because my dad used to recommend me those songs when I was really young. That song was the background music of my SNS (Korean abbreviation for social media) when I was really young. We called it minihompy (Cyworld) in Korea.
First time you were really nervous in your career…
I think I’m always nervous when it comes to starting something. For my first debut I was really nervous, my first acting [job] I was really nervous. Right now, showing my first solo song, I got kind of nervous. I really wanted to be good. I used to get really nervous when I was in front of a camera, but I’ve gotten much better now because I can do this kind of free talking in front of a camera. A long time ago, I used to be really nervous even, just, you know, talking about myself or doing an interview.
First time you ever felt like you were proud of yourself?
The first time I got rid of the two training wheels on my bicycle. I was really proud of myself. I remember it really clearly. It was on a hill, in that moment, on grass. I didn't believe that I got rid of the two wheels at that time, but when I looked back I realised that I didn’t have them anymore. I was really proud of myself. I made it!
First person you showed your new music to…
This time it was [fellow NCT member] Johnny, because we were on a schedule together. We were talking about the new song, it was before the mixing part, right after recording. He said that it was kind of sexy, but he also thought of the lonely feeling that's inside. There were [no nerves], it was just like “you want to hear it?” and he was like “of course!”
First impression of your fellow NCT members…
There are a lot of people! [laughs] I just mentioned Johnny, and his first impression was “oh, he's tall!”. He's tall and he kind of had a calm vibe. There was a group of older members and younger group members while we were training, and I used to be the youngest of the oldest group. The hyung members, the older members, used to treat me as the youngest kid in the group. When we play around or hang around these days, I always have that feeling from training. It still feels like the time, you know. I feel like that age when I’m around the members.
First career aspiration…
My first career aspiration... I wanted to be good at everything. But there was a time when I had to write about my dream job at school, and the last thing I wrote before singing or before acting was was a theme park designer. I was really curious about how the things in the parks move, like the roller coasters or the, you know, swings and Viking ships and all the stuff. I was really curious about how it works.
Jaehyun's new single “Forever Only” is out now.

Flowers anon. Is it okay to be a little potentially controversial on your blog? Or... more like, mention a controversial subject? If not, it's okay. Just don't post me or let me know you'd rather not. I know you like to keep your blog drama free. I just find the shifting opinions on this interesting and I'd like to poll your audience some. Here it goes. //
I don't really know where the line is between expression, freedom of it, trends, and community. It's Karlie using the word 'tribe' that calls that to mind. When I learned sociology, we used the term 'social tribes'. I don't know if it's problematic these days, or not. But... As very cliché examples, different tribes in the school grounds would be: the metalheads, the jocks, the preppies, etc... (yes I was born in the 80s....) and when it comes to fashion, or music, or language, from gbe beginning of time, the barriers have been porous, right? That's how music styles have evolved, how food traveled the world and dishes have versions on every continent. How things are copied from one tribe and twisted into the expression of another (see: Burberry from preppies to punks, for example), etc... So... When someone picks one or two things from a social tribe, whether it be fashion aspects, ticks of language, inside jokes, themes, whatever, I don't generally assume they're part of that tribe, or they wish to be, or they wish to signal that they are. They could just... like those things. And they chose to try them on, play with them for now or for a long time. Right? Right. But. The more someone gives me coded hints of a specific tribe or community, the more I'm getting the message that this is one, not incidental, two, probably meaningful. (Basically: if you show up one day with a Black Sabbath t shirt, you might just have gone to H&M in the last decade. If your entire wardrobe consists of metal t shirts, then either you're a huge poser for no reason, or you really did metal) I know you know where I'm going with this. If there seems to be queer doing in a lot of what you make, and in time there's more and more, and it's less and less subtle... There's a point I don't even question the messaging. I got it. I hear you loud and clear. No room for doubt anymore.
// So I'm curious. Where's your line? Where's everyone's line? Do some tribes/communities have a line that's different, for you? (less okay to roll with the assumption that someone's queer rather than the assumption they're a Pratchett fan? If so, why? Is it more 'wrong'? If so, why?)
Do you have One Thing that convinced you, one way or the other? Was it because on its own it made it click? Or was it because it was the one too many thing that made you go "Alright, I get it. Guess that crazy Tumblr theory was right on the money, huh."?
i do hope i’m understanding you 🙈 circle back if i have it wrong. you’re basically asking, at what point do i assume that someone is queer? or, when does doing queer things hit a critical mass and become a signal that someone is queer?
i think about american middle school and high school in the early 2000’s (so we’re talking acronyms like GSA (gay-straight alliance) we’re talking it being ordered GLBT) and about how i gravitated to all the other queer kids in my grade and we gravitated to one another without ever really asking specifics.. just knowing we felt more comfortable if we hung out at the dances as a group. in retrospect, we really had a piece of each even though we didn’t have all the words at the time to articulate the specifics 😆 two friends were gay, two more friends started gay and then realized they were trans, another is nonbinary, one is asexual, one was bi and then lesbian and then bi again, i went with bi but now pan feels more natural to me… but we really didn’t know all of this at the time, not until maybe senior year i guess?? but for many of us it all crystallized in adulthood. heck i still remember the first time someone came out in the history of our school. but my friends and i we all knew. and honestly for me it was and always has been that: vibes. a feeling of safety. maybe it was like, hearing someone say several times they thought a somewhat gender nonconforming celebrity or character was hot. idk. eventually you’d just say “i think so too XD” and the rest is history. and i’m curious what peoples thoughts are! i don’t feel i have anything that doesn’t sound nebulous, i fear.
and now, apologies for what i’m guessing is a competitively controversial tangent.
one thing came to mind when i read your anon and i want to share —because i think it’s something that might make me (hopefully more people than just me 😭) somewhat unique— is that i sort of came across all of this in a way that probably seems inverse to a lot of gaylors: i was a casual listener of taylor’s until i got curious about who the muse for reputation was, and then fell down the rabbit hole. initially, i became entirely convinced of one thing: taylor and karlie are soulmates. next, given the fact that they’re both women, i concluded that taylor likes women. so an attempt to understand her preferences and how that colors her life experience was something that came second for me in terms of the progression of realizations.
from there i’ve had five years of being able to walk back and reflect on her whole body of work and time in the public eye and seeing all of the ways she expresses her queerness, and i have a deep appreciation for this aspect of gaylor‘ism’ but for me, it’s always been through the lens of knowing (believing) first and foremost that she loves karlie, that the girl in her story has always been karlie, that the growing body of her work stems from this story, and so the queerness i see in her art is, in turn, demonstratively true.
i think for a lot of people, especially post lover era gaylors, it’s the opposite. first and foremost taylor really pings, (because she’s been so loud!!) and the second question becomes how is she pinging, and then who is she dating. and i think the first and second questions get debated very intensely because people want to look at it holistically and explore everything that is out there at this very macro level and it often veers into Big Questions such as what does it mean to be queer… where for me, im coming at it from a place of those definitions not being so important to my understanding of her work because for me, the tell is that all these songs of hers so clearly are written about the same muse, who happens to be a woman. that’s all i’ve ever wanted or needed to know. i mean, i have my opinions but they’re guide by my understanding of this eras-long story. so while i understand why the debates happen i also just think a lot of it without kaylor becomes a cyclical debate with no end and nobody really being satisfied. so this is why i tend to not want to throw in my two cents. i hope this makes sense.. i’m not sure i articulated it properly.

Article about Marshmallow Coast and interview with Andy Gonzales in Flagpole, 14 April 2004
[source]
transcript:
The Reluctance of being earnest Marshmallow Coast's Andy Gonzales moves towards a sharper picture of himself Andy Gonzales is looking to define himself, and he's been doing it for a while. To be more specific, he's looking to have his Marshmallow Coast identity and music exist outside the realm of his more acclaimed association. In fact, when I call to ask him about the recording of his recent album Antistar, he brings up Of Montreal right off the bat and without any prompting.
"We recorded [Antistar] with Jason NeSmith at Bel Air Studios," says Gonzales, "and it basically... well. I felt like I needed to record an album completely disassociated from Of Montreal. All the [Of Montreal] reviews would mention Kevin [Barnes, Of Montreal's primary songwriter and frontman] and not mention me.
That was pretty much my only thing to consider in the recording of this album, so I didn't want to include any of those people. That just got under my skin after a while—not that it created hard feelings, of course, but it was time to really be on my own."
Don't let Gonzales come across as bitter— he's not. But he does carry the air of someone frustrated with being overshadowed. Antistar, however, should aid in further separating Marshmallow Coast from Of Montreal's quirky pop preciousness. The album is Gonzales' fourth as Marshmallow Coast, a name he's used since his early teenage years in Denver. It's also his most distinct album to date. Marshmallow Coast's 1999 debut album Seniors and Juniors came across like an off-key and lo- fi love letter to Music Tapes' Julian Koster (also of Neutral Milk Hotel), and 2000's Marshmailow Coasting carried a strong Of Montreal sound— not surprising, since the majority of that band showed up to back Gonzales.
But with 2002's Ride the Lightning, which marked the jump from Kindercore Records to Misra Records, Gonzales started to gain his own foothold. Of the label switch, Gonzales says: "Kindercore was totally changing, and I kinda had a weird inkling that I needed to leave, but it wasn't anything other than I needed to be on a different label than Of Montreal, because that was the height of the comparison."
Antistar finds Gonzales exploring his troubadour side, turning away the more psychedelic whimsy experiments of earlier albums, instead relying on tunes more in line with the steady output of standards coming from Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello, albeit with a Sean Lennon voice and a Jonathan Richman sense of humor. Love songs—romantic love songs populate Antistar. Says Gonzales: "Everybody feels love, and I just... more than being lovey-dovey, I try to make my songs about weirdoes who find love mysteriously. I think it's more classy to write about love, and I definitely don't have anything political to say." The album was recorded primarily in the solo setting, and Marshmallow Coast's live performance reflects that; it's Gonzales and wife Sara Kirkpatrick, who married recently in Dekalb County, accompanied by a CD for all the backing tracks and drums.
"My songwriting process has kind of evolved," says Gonzales. "It used to be that I'd just wait for inspiration, but eventually I'd just work on little bits and pieces and see how they fit together over time. Now I'm at the point where I can get my brain into writing mode when I'm in the studio recording—I might go in with just six songs, and that's not enough for a full album, so I'll write some out of sheer necessity. Some of those songs have become some of my favorites, because I'm not super-prolific like some other people are. If I tell myself I've got something to accomplish and I'm not wasting somebody's time, I can get things done. But it can be difficult."
Again, Gonzales slips comfortably into self-doubt an apologetic tone for even existing in the first place. He seems uncomfortable with his own place in the creation of music. To wit:
Andy Gonzales: By this point I just [write songs] and we don't really feel like we'll change the world or anything. Flagpole: No? AG: Not really. Sometimes I don't know why I do it. I think about all the other hundreds of bands who recorded their CDs and spent all that money in the studio and... I dunno. I guess there is a reason. FP: What is that reason? AG: Because I like doing music, and there are some people who seem to like it I mean, I totally love making music, but I've given up the romantic notion I held as a teenager that we're gonna be big or something. But there's somebody willing to put the record out, so I'll definitely have the songs ready, I guess... I mean, I would love for us to get recognition as a unique or different band, but I am happy with the recognition we've got so far.
But again, it seems to be the constant scrutiny and comparison to his musical elders that's led to Gonzales' reticence and his reluctance to take a strong stand on his own music. "The weird thing is," he says, "I've had the luxury to turn into something while people were able to watch and scrutinize. Most people might not put out their first album until they're my age now, until they've really developed as an artist and are ready to be out there. I've kind of been developing in the public eye."
Is that ever an uncomfortable situation? "I think it was in the beginning," says Gonzales, "because I'm not a very good singer, but now I think... I don't know how much consideration I give it anymore. I just want to make something really, um, pretty? Y'know, just music that's nice. I feel that if I evolve in any other way I'll try to get somebody else to sing because that's where I run into the most criticism."
But does Gonzales like his own voice? "Yeah. Sometimes? I don't know." It seems that Gonzales' strength, then, is to let the songs speak for themselves as well as for him. Despite his self-questioning, Antistar takes a strong stand towards romance and pushes Gonzales further towards definition.

subjective comfort
i'm having a shutdown folks! the only reason i know it is because I'm currently rewatching Lain and Paranoia Agent.
i always go back to these pieces of media though. theyre not.. dire per say but it tends to fit exactly what my mental state is when I go into a shutdown. i blindly walk around and trust my feet to not lead me off a cliff.
i wish it wasn't so hard to have my mind here all the time, or at least get the comfort i need to not rely on media like this but whatevez
this is the only song ive been listening to for the past hour. all my autism empathy melts when i go into this state and i get so pissy its fucking weird bro. i do not like being mean. regardless when i shutdown i go back onto my weirdest fucking interests, media that is all about questioning why we're here and who we are and what's our true place in the universe as a whole. during a breakdown, shows that are geared towards young children help me quite a bit but with a shutdown i just want to curl up and be mindless. idk theres so much. idk why im even posting right now its 5am and im on an autism high and need to sleep
who even am i bro im just here, no gender, no bitches, sitting in my messy room and watching things that make me happy. maybe i dont need a reason for existing atm
NVM IM NOT DONE early 2000's anime in general really help when im like this even though most of the ones i like came out my fucking birth year

The Capris Trend
Popularized in the '50s and '60s, at one of its peaks in the early 2000's, and with the continuing trend of Y2k styles capris are back!
Tumblr media
Celebrities In Pedal Pushers!
Tumblr media
Capri pants made a resurgence last summer, but continued to be worn by several celebrities into the new year. Starting off strong, Julia Fox attended a new year's eve party wearing mustard yellow capris with a bold graphic. Sydney Lynn Carlson and Zoe Lerma rocked print capris, while Bella Hadid stayed casual in white capris. The best thing about these pants is that you can wear them as casual as you want, spice it up for a night out, make it business casual, or style them for the upcoming spring weather. Want to get the casual look? Below I'll show you the easiest way to style capris.
Guide to the Outfit Under $45
Tumblr media
Since capris are on the rise to trend this spring many brands are already selling them, but not all worth paying upwards of a $50-$100 for one pant. Urban Outfitters came out with new styles for capris, which means others are on sale. These Jaded London Y2k capri jeans are on sale right now for $14.95!
Most celebrities and influencers are seen wearing fitted tops with these pants, which makes the silhouette of the outfit more balanced and best suits the capris. Cotton on has a range of tops under $15 and one of their sale ribbed tanks are $14. This is perfect for the warm weather and comfortable for all body types.
Sunny days call for a pair of shades. To go along with the vintage modern look, Urban Outfitters has great options for affordable vintage looking sunglasses. Right now their Mazzy '90s Plastic Oval Sunglasses are on sale for $15. I recommend accessorizing as much as possible and might through on statement necklace from home.
My favorite part of an outfit is pairing it with a bag or purse, especially one that it personally customized or just pops. While this outfit has toned down colors, you can spice it up with any colored bag. This can be a small, medium, or large sized purse. Have fun with it.
Lastly, you can wear any shoes you have at home. Capris pair best with sandals, platform sandals, sneakers, and even kitten heels. I personally would pair them with a comfortable platform sandal because it reminds me of the early 2000s spring/summer style.

Keeping Kids Safe From Gun Accidents: 6 Strategies For Families
What are your ideas? Politics as a Window to the Soul? We term our politics a "philosophy" when we'd like to ascertain distance between our instant, everyday life and the things we sanction with our vote. Some issues should not philosophy but pathology, and I have a feeling you’re not speaking about someone with whom you disagree on, say, interstate commerce. I’m certain you’re proper that this neighbor would by no means hurt your baby. Personally, I wouldn't have a play date with someone I believed was racist, sexist, homophobic, or any variation of intolerant. There are those that would claim this is merely "political philosophy" (and decry me as intolerant for rejecting them), but as you your self mentioned, what we imagine politically shows who we're deep down. You’re allowed to choose with whom you and your child spend time according to whatever metric you like. I enjoyed many sleepovers as a toddler, and now as a guardian I'm comfortable for my elementary-age kid to do the same with households we know effectively and trust. However, she’s been invited to several weeknight sleepovers-during the college yr-which sounds wild to me. Am I wrong to suppose these are weird?

What automobile did "Top Gear" check in opposition to the TVR Tuscan? With the engine, gearbox and working gear of an M3 of the identical vintage, the Wiesmann MF three looked like a conventional British sports activities car however dealt with like a surgical instrument. Its implausible handling is right down to low profile tires, short springs, and apparently, magic. Somehow it did all this without being uncomfortable. What Italian-made automobile with a German engine did "Top Gear" check, concluding that it was superb but ineffective? Pagani's AMG-powered vehicles are superb machines, but the Zonda R, the highest evolution of the Zonda, was a breed apart. Costing £1.Forty six million and not avenue legal, the made-for-the-observe Zonda R was very cool and very rare, but in addition not legal on most British racetracks resulting from their noise restrictions. What traditional automobile did Chris Harris discuss with as "this strange object"? The Porsche Type sixty four is the car Ferdinand Porsche built using a VW Beetle, the 'take a look at bed' as Harris described it.
By the time I was thirteen and a half, I had developed an arsenal consisting of Micro Machines with base dispensers, some bongos (I have scary-awful rhythm), a falcon and a M20A1 Super Bazooka. The latter one is a complete nother pile of enjoyable. Once i performed with that factor, I all the time preferred holding it sideways with one hand, as a result of it regarded so cool and gangsta. I could then blast anything I wished and be wildly off goal (as a result of I used to be so gangsta), but it surely did not actually matter, because shit still exploded. Haystacks, lawn gnomes, celery stalks all felt the blast of my bazooka. So children, get on the market and get pleasure from this summer. If you're beneath 13, be happy to shoot off some squirt guns, they're moderately enjoyable, they usually definitely make issues wet. And if you're over 13.5, there's nothing like the haze of a bazooka blast rising up via the setting summer sun. Well, that's except for a blast from the Super Soaker CPS 2000, foam ammunition Toys but who may afford that?
One look at the mercury reveals this summer time is heating up. And as just about anyone who has slipped on a slide or sprinkled on a sprinkler (ewww), they know it's time to swimsuit up and arm yourself with a water gun. But one should select their H2O weaponry wisely. Going with an ordinary (IE Lame) pea-shooter number of guns is certain to result in disappointment. Even worse than the "chump" utilizing an excellent Soaker 50 in this early 90s "Zap It" business. Growing up, I used the Super Soaker CPS 2000 as my weapon of choice. It was actually a blast a minute, but eventually I grew up. I progressed in age past 13. Suddenly I became a teenager, and it's not cool to play squirt guns. We're supposed to make use of this time to turn out to be considering women-and not just as squirt targets (though, I suppose this statement somewhat holds). Yes, squirt guns have been pigeonholed as one thing only performed with by people beneath the age of 13. When i hit the big one three and all of the sudden realized I might not squirt, it was dark instances.

What 694 BPH modern supercar put Richard in thoughts of the film "Top Gun"? The manufacturing supercar based on the work Lamborghini did on the Sesto Elemento, the Aventador was Lamborghini's method to a more "balanced" supercar. Yes, it is stupidly quick, but it surely also handles, and brakes and is safe, but its top velocity is still 217 mph, which is faster than its manufacturing predecessors. The McLaren P1 was McLaren's first effort at a modern, hybrid supercar. Its monumental 903 hp got here from a mixture of a 727 hp V8 and a 177 electric motor, meaning the P1's electric motor, on its own, is more powerful than some compact automobiles. When combined with the 2.8 liter V8, nonetheless, the electric automotive made a monster. The Lamborghini Urus is Lamborghini's take on the household hauler. Possibly resulting from Audi's affect, it's refined, comfy, capable on snow and ice, and may even go off-highway as a lot as one can in a car costing £159,925.

Blog Checkpoint #2
Body image in the modern century is a tricky subject. Back in the early 2000’s, the media was full of content promoting weight loss, idealizing skinny celebrities. Celebrities were called gross for wearing bikinis when they were slightly more than skin and bones. Jennifer Lawrence was considered plus size representation, as well as whatever size six model Victoria’s Secret has hired for ‘inclusivity’. Every magazine cover had tips and tricks to losing weight fast. Shows like Friends constantly made fat jokes and showed how completely different a character was treated after she lost weight.
Now in the early 2020’s, the body positivity movement has swept the nation. The body positivity movement is focused on the acceptance of all bodies, regardless of different physical characteristics like size, skin tone, physical ability and more. This movement is built on the concept that present-day beauty standards are an undesirable social construct. Just because this has become extremely popular on social media, it does not mean that the issue has been resolved.
On every body positivity post or page I’ve come across, the content was typically made for women by women. We can agree that negative body image and diet culture is mainly harmful to women, but why is that? My simple answer is that women are seen as objects of desire, and for some reason our society has built these standards that deem a person attractive. “Our culture is obsessed with desire: it drives our economy. We come right out and say we’re going to stimulate desire for goods and services, and so we’re bombarded daily with ads and commercial announcements geared to make us desire things” (Bornstein, pg. 40). Bornstein says this in regard to abolishing gender as a system, and how she received pushback on that concept because gender defines desire. I think this third wave approach to feminism and woman as a construct applies to this phenomena. Women who are plus sized are made out to be monsters, they are alienated, neglected, and hidden away by their partners.
Growing up as a plus sized woman and a lesbian, I felt extremely disconnected from femininity. I didn’t feel feminine, as being feminine was to be delicate, light, desirable, constantly working to make myself more desirable. I had a hard time believing people when they expressed desire for me, especially if they were male. Unlike the women surrounding me, I never felt like I was performing my gender, or trying to achieve this femininity that was needed to get into a relationship with a man. I never had any male friendships until college, because they truly never gave me a second look or respected me as somebody worth their friendship. I have since met some amazing men who really do value me as a person despite the knowledge that I would never be attracted to them. Alas, my disconnection from femininity felt wrong compared to my mother, my sister, my friends. I learned how to do makeup following YouTube tutorials, I starved myself for years and was skinny for a period of time, but it was never enough. I just didn’t feel like I was doing enough. Over years of healing I learned that I felt that way because everything ALL women hear throughout their lives is that they are never enough. Once I was able to release those expectations that I felt from the world I lived in, I have been able to truly feel feminine by my own definition.
Part of becoming comfortable in my own skin over the years has developed from my friendships with women as an adult. In college I found myself in a loving friend group of plus size women, queer women, women who shared life experiences with me that I thought nobody understood. “But the need for a recognizable identity, and the need to belong to a group of people within a similar identity-these are driving forces in our culture” (Borstein, pg. 3). This has been found so many times when social change is afoot. Consciousness raising sessions in old feminist days made women and women of color aware that they were never alone in what they were feeling. They learned that the guilt and self hatred they had developed over the years stemmed from a societal issue that was genuinely not their personal fault.
Postmodern feminists reject the idea that women exist in a man’s world on his terms. Women are challenged to write their own narratives in the world instead of following the one prescribed for them. “But what we believe to be a physical and direct perception is only a sophisticated and mythic construction, an “imaginary formation” which reinterprets physical features (in themselves as neutral as any others but marked by the social system) through the network of relationships in which they are perceived” (Wittig, pg. 247). Our physical characteristics are immediately noted and considered integral to our personalities and morals. These are all characteristics of our social system, as Wittig states above. By acknowledging this social system and its made up rules we can begin to let them go and find autonomous joy and acceptance.

Aly and AJ – House of Blues – Orlando, FL – April 12, 2023
Seeing Aly and AJ perform in the new millennium was both amazing and nostalgic. Aly and AJ Michalka are sisters from Torrance, California who started their music careers when they were 13 and 15 years old, coming out with their first album titled Into the Rush, which featured well known songs “Rush” and “On The Ride.” Being a 90’s baby and growing up listening to them on Radio Disney and watching them on Disney Channel shows and movies like Cow Bells and Phil of the Future, you just have to know who they are, because how could you not?
Tumblr media
During the show, the pop rock sister duo played the entirety of their newest album, With Love From, along with a few songs from previous albums, a touch of the beat… and We Don’t Stop. I didn't listen to their new album before attending the show, so my experience felt almost like a live album release party. Of course they also played the classics like “Potential Breakup Song” and “Like Whoa” from their album Insomniatic, along with a couple other songs from the early 2000’s that pretty much everyone knew considering everyone became very excited when they started singing it and they the audience was practically yelling the lyrics word for word.
Tumblr media
They were energetic and lively on stage and interacted with the audience like we have all been the best of friends for decades. I loved it when they referenced being Disney kids and spoke about their older music since I'm sure most, if not all, of their fans know them from their Disney acting and music days.
Tumblr media
The energy they had with each other on stage was touching and you could really tell how much love they have for each other and performing together. Before they started performing their song “Slow Dancing,” they mentioned the song being meant to slow dance to and told the audience to dance with whoever they came with or if they came alone and were comfortable, to ask for permission to dance with a stranger next to you. Seeing the whole venue either dance with who they came with or even sway on their own, while singing along was so beautiful and toward the end of the song, people started holding up their flashlights on their phones. It was such a beautiful moment of the show.
Tumblr media
Their performance has opened me up to their newer music and I think that everyone should “Rush” and experience Aly & AJ live because you will not be disappointed.
