Chapter 7: A Magical Reunion

The water splashed against her skin, warming her back as she laid herself down into the overfilled tub. She could feel the exhaustion in her muscles lessen as it relaxed into the water, even her “excitement” from the day was fading away. She allowed herself to lay back until only everything above her ears was safe from the liquid.

“Are you alright, my lady? Does it feel nice?” Mariam sat on the edge of the tub with a bucket in hand. She sat the bucket down and reached over to grab some rose oil, pouring it into the tub. “It smells nice, right?”

Marinette nodded, unable to respond as everything inside her relaxed. She could almost feel her worries fly away. It was as if everything was right at that moment.

Marinette sank down until the water was just below her nose, staring up at the maid who smiled at her. Marinette’s vibrant blue eyes were wide and childlike, almost innocent feeling. Mariam grabbed the bucket beside her and made a motion for Marinette to sit up.

She slowly poured the water on Marinette’s head before grabbing an elegant bottle. She poured a generous amount of the pink liquid into her hand before applying it to Marinette’s hair. She gently scrubbed it onto the girl’s scalp, letting it turn into suds and bubbles.

After letting it sit for a couple minutes, the maid washed it all out. “Would you like to stay in there for a little while, my lady?”

Marinette nodded, smiling gently at Mariam.

A small sigh escaped Marinette’s lips as she hunched over in her chair, laying her head on the wooden table below her. Beside her was a smooth leather book with indented writing. The book read “A Beginner’s Guide to All Things Magic,” with no mentioned author.

The dim light from the window covered her gentle, exhausted form like a blanket. It reminded her of the days she’d be raking over her desk for endless hours, trying to find Hawkmoth. The light from her balcony was a comfort to her during those days, filling her with hope. She missed those days. She wanted to go back to those days…

The days with Wayzz, Tikki, and the others, with everyone she loved. The days in the city she would sacrifice her life for. Her days in Paris.

Wayzz…

The little turtle who would force her to take breaks, who would remind her to eat and drink - the little one who was with her as she was transported to this world. A sob worthy sadness swept over Marinette, causing her to sit up and clutch the clothes above her heart. She wrinkled the soft fabric with the move, but she only dropped her head in response.

Just as a tear began to drip down her face, she spotted something red and black in the corner of her eyes. Perhaps… no, but it could be. Marinette raised her head again with wide, clear eyes. Please, please let it be-

It wasn’t. Tikki wasn’t there.

Instead, there was a portrait with a red curtain hiding half of it. A portrait with her face. With her.

Marinette, as if entranced, stood up and walked over to the painting. There was a painting of herself? A younger version of herself. It wasn’t just Lady Eden, it was her. She could recognize those eyes. Was she…

Lady Eden?

A whine escaped her lips as she clutched her head, a heavy pain gathering into its center. She felt a sudden rush of different emotions and memories. She could see the lonely girl in the painting in front of her, reaching out and taking her hand. The little girl smiled at her, though it was strained, and took away her pain.

The memories and emotions disappeared, but Marinette could still feel the rush of it all. She slowly opened her eyes and looked back up at the painting. If she was right, the person next to her was her father, and the person hidden behind the curtain should be-

“You. What are you doing here?”

AU inspired by @sidsinning’s Villainess AU. Thank you so much for introducing me to this amazing concept. For your consideration:

Adrien the Self Proclaimed Villain AU

The villainess au with the roles reversed, heavily based on An Observation Log of My Fiancé Who Calls Herself a Villainess.

Adrien adores anime in-universe. Of course he’d be the kid that played the otame game over and over again and memorized the story. Also, he is a really lonely, like Bertia in her past life.

The story is still told from Marinette’s POV, with Adrien as the secondary protagonist, just like the canon show. Princess Marinette meets her new arranged fiancé, who blurts out that he us the “villain” and how it is his destiny to bully the hero and try to hoard her to himself, only to be defeated and dumped by her.

Unlike Marinette in the Villainess AU, Adrien doesn’t try to change the story. In fact, he plans to be the best villain he can possibly be to keep the story on track and ensure Marinette gets her happy ending. Which is definitely something Adrien would do to ensure the happiness of those he loves.

Like his show counterpart, Adrien doesn’t pick up on social cues. He doesn’t see that Marinette is falling in love with him, despite how obvious it may be.

Tikki and Plagg are guardian spirits earned by noble acts of kindness, just like Prince Cecil and Bertia earned their own spirit guides that take the form of animals.

The hero can either be Luka in the style of “My Next Life as a Villainess” or my villainous OC Henri LeRoi in the style of “Observation Log of My Fiancé”

It would really be an awesome parallel to all the salt fics. Those things always have Adrien as some sort of selfish asshole that views Marinette as an object. The real Adrien is sweet and kind and selfless to the point of ruining his own life for the sake of others. A villain reincarnation au would align perfectly with the current fandom.

All in all, I think it would be an amazing concept to explore and really funny, too. The simlarities between the real show and AOLOMFWCHAV are ratger uncanny.

Ok in the game

Chloe was the villainess of the game who was engaged to the second Prince Adrien, and was very clingy to him so much that it made him uncomfortable. Entering at the magic academy, she bullied the protagonist Marinette (commoner), because she was jealous of her strong magic and her fiancé was looking for her. On every route she dies, it doesn't matter if you didn't choose Adrien's route.

So that's the plot of the game

BUT THE REALITY IS

Chloé and Adrien were engaged, both agreed to marry to please their parents

Marinette enters the magic academy, Chloe annoyed her because Adrien kept seeing Marinette

Adrien explain he just wants friends, so Chloe relaxes. Adrien tries to get his two friends to become friends with each other. Marinette feels self-conscious and uncomfortable with Chloe. (She's a commoner, and Chloe was bullying her recently)

Marinette had a little crush on Adrien but as she got to know Chloe more, she found her adorable and endearing. She fell in love with her

Chloe too, the more time she spent with her, so they had a secret relationship

But then Chloe dies

...

Marinette desperate goes back in time to try to save her

Just to found out that, when she arrives, Chloe was totally different, a clone? A replacement? Is someone impersonating her?

Chloé just thinks the protagonist is cute

Marinette has her guard up when she's with her, she doesn't trust her, chloe thinks the protagonist hates her

Chloé fakes her whole personality, she just doesn't want to die. Sometimes she has these selfish thoughts that make her hate herself, she tries to suppress it. She's so desperate not to die. Her personality remains the same but she tries everything to hide it

Can we ask about the otome au? It’s one of my favorite au’s and I’ve been so curious about it but it’s been a while since anything was mentioned about it.

If we can, has anything changed and/or any new details kinda sprung up in the lull interval?

Certainly!

It's a little odd since Lila is pretty much the Lila as we know her from canon while Felix and Luka are not. I originally just thought of the transmigrated into an otome game setup as an explanation as to why Lila would say Ladybug "betrayed" her. Since originally, Ladybug never does anything with Lila except protect her from akumas and support her as a hero and eventual replacement for the Ladybug Hero.

A couple additions are in regards to Gabriel and Chloe.

With Chloe being the "villainess" of the otome game, she's got a pretty poor fate set up for her. Unless SHE ends up isekaied as well, the only way for her to really avoid this fate would be if someone else helped her change. In this case, it would either have to be a result of some machinations of Lila that end up making Chloe act against her in a way that would be a benefit to everyone else (aka: reveal she's a liar and manipulator) OR it would take Felix or Luka to have some influence on her. Alternatively, they could push Adrien to be a better influence on Chloe by holding her accountable. If Chloe would change for anyone, it would be for Adrien.

Lila never really bothered with any route of the game other than Adrien's. Both the Hero side and the Civilian side. But neither side actually revealed Gabriel was Hawk Moth. The DLC alluded to it, but again, Lila never bothered with it, so she's as lost on Hawk Moth's identity as she is on Ladybug's new "role" in the game. Of course, that's not going to stop her from trying to find out who he is and make an alliance if it means taking out Ladybug for "interfering".

Felix and Luka have a strange duality.

Luka knows only the bare basics about the game—monsters attack, heroes help, and people who are now his friends and family get targeted. The problem is that he doesn't know just HOW these incidents occur or turn out, just that it's all ultimately supposed to be up to this one girl to resolve the problems. So he is understandably concerned that the girl in question doesn't seem particularly inclined to help and thus takes it upon himself to try and fix things or protect his new friends and family.

Felix, on the other hand, HAS the information about the game. He just doesn't care.

They end up forming a partnership that eventually turns into friendship. Albeit mostly because Luka forces the matter and Felix is just dragged along for the ride.

Felix: Why not? It can't be worse than what the game would originally have had me do.

Luka has always wanted a little sister. And now he has one in the form of a little goth cutie. The especially hilarious thing is that there is really no difference between Luka pre or post isekai. Both versions of Luka adore Juleka.

Luka (First Morning He Wakes Up): (Hugs Juleka) OMG I have the cutest sister in the world!

Juleka: (Nonplussed) Do you have to do this every morning?

Luka is...less than pleased when he realizes he is one of the potential capture targets. Especially when he realizes the type of girl Lila is.

...although......

Hear me out: since Luka knows only the basics about the game, what if he doesn't know who the Heroine is?

What if he thinks it's Marinette?

Luka: Okay, to help protect my new family and resolve any potential issues, I just need to find the Heroine. But where do I even start looking for her?

Marinette: I'm Ma-Ma-Marinette.

Luka: ...there she is!

Of course, he's not happy when Felix corrects him.

Luka: But she's cute and huggable and so darn lovable! Who else could be the Heroine if she isn't?

Felix: Well...

...he's even LESS happy when he finds out who the Heroine IS.

Luka: I'm sorry, you're saying WHAT?

Felix: (Sigh) The Heroine of this game is Lila Rossi.

Luka: ...the sausage-haired girl?!

And it only snowballs from there.

"Miraculous!" is the dating sim game where you play as Y/N Dupain-Cheng, an ordinary daughter of nobles-turned-bakers who was enrolled into a prestigious College François Dupont. The main goal of this game is to romance one of three cute boys: Adrien Agreste, the son of the famous fashion designer; Nathaniel Kurtzberg, shy artist with a dark secret; or Luka Couffaine, your bestie's brother and resident badass musician.

But one Marinette Tsukino can't bother much. Gameplay, graphics and soundtrack aside, her main reason why "Miraculous!" is her favorite game is this game antagonist, the Queen Bee, Chloé Bourgeois. In game, she is main character's main pain in her ass, trying to prevent you from romancing any of these three boys. But Marinette deeps further into her personality. She may be the only one in the game's fandom who defends Chloé and gave a lot of thoughts about how she is misunderstood and her eventual faith (dying in the plane crash after both of her neglectful parents said that "she is the problem") was cruel and unfair.

Marinette played "Miraculous!" at night, after she was done with her boring work. She hated it, so much. This game was the only way she can escape the reality. She fell asleep, overworked and exhausted... Then...

"That's ridiculous, Marinette Dupain-Cheng! Utterly ridiculous!"

Chloé Bourgeois has all the volumes of I Favor the Villainess and secretly uses it as her romance guide to wooing her crush.

Miraculous minicomic: Chrysabug

This happens in an alternate universe.

In this AU, Cerise a.k.a. Chrysalis (Butterfly Miraculous holder) tries to conquer Ladybug's heart. She gives an ice cream (cooked by André the Glacier for another couple of lovers) to the superheroin. They're eating the ice together.

Ladybug: "I see you've already got a Love Ice Cream of André the Glacier. You share it for me ? How do you managed to success that ?"

Chrysalis (seductive): "I have just been polite. Cooperative."

It's a lie !

In reality, few minutes ago, Chrysalis had robbed the Ice cream man. She had even stolen the Love Ice Cream that supposed to be given to a random couple of lovers (the latters are terrified to see the 'evil' Butterfly villainess robbing André).

Chrysalis (menacing): "Give me a Ice Cream for offer to my Beloved One or I call an akumatized villain to purchase you, Ice Cream guy. Cook it with a cherry on the top."

André (afraid): "Yes. Yes. I'll do !"

So Marinette in this AU has been through hell and back. She’s still a sweet person to those who are deserving of her kindness and her love but to those that she hates and doesn’t like…well unlike 13 year old Marinette who always apologized for being blamed and framed for things she didn’t do older Marinette has learned that its okay to stand up for yourself and not take any bullshit from people.

That doesn’t mean that she is cruel! She’ll still bless people who deserve it, make stuff for people who she loves, be kind to Akuma victims and others.

But Paris doesn’t realize that Ladybug is only being merciful to their cruelness and that their hero could be their worst nightmare.

When she is kicked out by her parents or even called the bully of the school she’s okay with it, she’s the so-called Villainess of Paris. Ironic, and yet hilarious.

When she finally snaps Monarch was the first to go, all Monarchs of the past were beheaded so Marinette followed her ancestors lead..unfortunately Argos got away from her before she could finish the job.

She’s gonna take back everything she’s lost.

Okay so to clarify, Marinette isn’t always mean or cruel, she isn’t like teenager Chloe. She’s still Marinette it’s only when she is threatened or being treated cruelly that she’ll stick up for herself, she’s not a pushover. She has never shown Adrien this side of her nor any of her friends. Chat Noir knows that Ladybug can be cruel sometimes but he has never seen her go all out. There will be certain parts in the story where Marinette acts cruel and mean but they are very short and the only reason people will see her as a villain is because no one has ever seen shy Marinette act that way, it certainly will be a shock to the people of Paris when they see just how much bullshit younger Marinette has dealt with, from her own friends calling her a clutz to being bullied, it’s no wonder she learned to bite back.

People don’t usually like it when people pleasers start to fight back. That doesn’t mean she is Morally Gray she’s just finally standing up for herself unlike 13 year old Marinette.

She’s a badass woman who takes no shit from anyone and she’ll bite back if you try anything

She’s no villain…she’s just stopped being a people pleaser who gets pushed over.

I was reading this manga called “Although I Am an Inept Villainess“ (BTWs you should def check it out, it’s really adorable and hilarious) and it weirdly inspired a AU in my head where Chloe (either through an Akuma or a random magical object - oh, or maybe she uses the Wish for it) switches bodies with Marinette around the start of Season 5 after causing an incident that gets her suspended/put on house arrest via Andre cutting a deal with the police.

And at first she’s practically thriving under all the love and attention she’s receiving from everyone as “the dumb baker girl” as well as finally having Adrien want to reciprocate her feelings and having the life she felt she deserved (and all while they’re hating on their precious angel without realizing it) - until she’s forced to put in the work required for all that and she realizes Marinette isn’t called “the everyday Ladybug” for no reason, and there’s a lot more to it and her life than she had assumed - especially when it turns out that title is quite literal. (and for the sake of ease/bonus trouble, we’ll pretend Felix did the smart thing tricked Gabriel into giving him the peacock and kept the ring, so no kwami stealing)

Meanwhile, Marinette’s stuck in Chloe’s body and understandably freaking out because not only is she now the most hated girl in Paris, she doesn’t have Tikki to help her and no way to let everyone know she isn’t actually Chloe (with all her attempts being seen as the blonde bully trying to get out of trouble again), with the only options of interactions being the hotel staff. Her only choice is to keep her head down and wait out “Chloe’s” punishment until a chance arrives or she can finally return to school and confront her. Well, at least she can take advantage of the fact that she’s stuck in the hotel with all it’s luxuries and no longer worrying about class rep duties, or having to make up homework because of her ladybug duties, or all those pressures of being guardian, or being told to “make a good example” of herself while being bullied, or being bugged by Lila, or having to go through another to-fail Adrien dating scheme...

Where was she going with this? Oh right, hunkering down until she can find Chloe-in-her-body and undo the swap! Shouldn’t be too hard to find a way to pass the time without issue, and it’s not like she’ll have any troubles to deal with in the mean time - after all, what problems could a privileged mean girl like Chloe Bourgeois have to deal with anyway? (The answer, it turns out - is alot)

Okay, I have some headcanons for @sidsinning 's ML villainess au that I have to share and if they want it to be canon just have it it's free real estate

.

In her life, Yamada Hanako worked as a beta reader. She enjoyed her job. Sometimes the work was hard and the writing a slog to get through, but she had never found a book she couldn't get into.

Until she read "Gardens of [nation name]." G-d was that work rough. It was clear to Hanako that this is thinly veiled revenge fic where the villainess, Marinette, is actually more just the author's punching bag while protagonist Lila is just "perfect" in every way. She found the story distasteful and wrote the review as honest and clear cut. The author sent back a negative email essentially summed up as "You just don't understand the complexity."

Whether we go with overworked Hanako falls asleep and wakes up reincarnated or if Truck-kun makes an appearance is irrelevant. She recognizes really quick who she is and where she is. She quickly sets about being a better person in order to avoid the horrid fate. Ideally, she wants Marinette to live a long life in a place far off just vibing to riches.

Little does she know the author has also reincarnated into the book and plans to live out her fantasy to it's bloody end.

Chapter 6: Status Reveal!

Glancing at the screen, Marinette froze; her tears stopped and her shaking came to a still. Everything seemed to go in slow motion as she read those words over and over again, feeling a rush of emotions. Was this… real? Was this some sort of answer to her pleas?

“My lady?” Marinette flinched, quickly letting go of the maid. She finally looked at the woman, taking in her dark brown fluffy hair, red eyes, and freckled skin. This woman… she had cried in her arms. “Are you alright now?”

The maid rubbed Marinette’s back as she asked the question, looking down at the girl with concerned eyes. Marinette just nodded, afraid to say anything with her hoarse voice. She felt embarrassed for crying like she was a child again(she was).

“…I’ll go get you some water now, okay? Is it alright if I leave you alone, my lady?” Marinette nodded again, watching as the maid looked at her with soft eyes. The maid bent down and gave Marinette a quick hug before leaving. She stared quietly at Marinette’s small, sad form before closing the door.

Marinette rushed up, getting on her knees to help boost her up to see the screen. Was this real? Was this the answer she had been looking for?! On why she had been forced here?! Marinette couldn’t believe her eyes, feeling a shaky smile form on her cheeks. An answer… she was desperate for one.

All of this relief flooded her senses for a small, prickly feeling took route. Was she… seriously put inside a game? For an ‘interesting experience’ on some weird(IT WAS NO WEIRD!) otome game?? She didn’t read any of this in the descriptions nor did she think this was even possible. It had been too long to be a dream, so it couldn’t be lying to her.

Marinette glared at the screen, angry. How was this even possible? Was it some sort of akuma? Or maybe a magical being was involved? Marinette started feeling a mix of rage and panic. She was inside of a game right now- meaning something had to be wrong. Was time working outside of the game? Was something bad happening in the real world? How would Ladybug save Paris if she was stuck inside a game?!

Stopping her thoughts, not letting the panic overwhelm her, Marinette took in a deep breath. Think logically, Marinette. If some sort of akuma was going on, the kwamis would be able to find temporary holders to hold it off and possibly defeat it. Or they would use Kaalki to find her. Yes, that’s it.

Before she could continue her thoughts, the screen started flashing, forcing her to pay attention to it. By now, the welcome message was gone and all that was left was to do was press the “yes” or “no” button under the word “menu.” Maybe the menu would explain things to her?

Marinette selected yes.

All of a sudden, the menu opened and Marinette was overwhelmed and multiple screens popped up. There were so many different things available, but Marinette focused her attention on the main screen, the “main menu.” Underneath those words, Marinette read her options.

“Status, Quests, Magic Points… and the rest of my options are locked?” Marinette mumbled underneath her breath, a tad confused but focused on the task at hand. With a steady finger, Marinette selected, “Status.”

Staring at the changing screen, Marinette saw it flicker with code before the words appeared. “Status: Role - Villainess Noble Lady, Age: 8, Magic - Click to Reveal, INT: 2(+7), STR: 3(+0), MP: 5/5(+15), HP: 17/19, Special skills - (???)?” The status lined up with the same format as in the game. Did this mean… she was a player? Perhaps that meant if she completed the route, she’d be able to leave?

Marinette clicked on magic, wondering what it meant. Suddenly, it flickered with code before the screen collapsed, as if it never existed.

“Wait- nononononono! Come back!” Marinette reached out a hand where the screen had been, scared that her chance to escape, to be a player, was gone.

“My lady?” The sound of sudden footsteps forced Marinette to turn towards the closed door. It seemed like the maid had returned. “I’m coming in.”

Marinette went back partially under the covers as the door opened, trying to seem like she hadn’t moved at all. The maid smiled at her gently before sitting on the bed and passing her the water. Marinette took it and carefully drank from it, the cool liquid like heaven to her parched throat.

“…thank you.” Marinette finally mumbled to the woman, her voice much smoother and sweet-sounding now. She held the glass between her small hands, lowering it from her mouth and resting it on her lap. “…who are you?”

“I’m Mariam, my lady.” The maid, Mariam, smiled at her. She carefully took the almost empty glass from Marinette. “I’m your personal maid, the master chose me last week.”

“…oh. Thank you, Mariam.” Marinette looked down at her lap, fiddling with her fingers.

“Of course, my lady.” Mariam grinned at Marinette, setting the glass aside. “Why don’t I-” growl.

Hmmmm? growl. What was that sound? growl.

Oh.

That was her.

Marinette turned bright red, her hands clutching the blanket. Her hair covered her face as she squeezed her eyes closed.

Mariam giggled, “Why don’t I go and get you dinner, my lady? Does that sound good?” Mariam’s eyes softened.

“…please.” Marinette nodded, still beat red.

“Alright then.” Mariam quickly left the room after waving goodbye.

“Ughhhh, why’d you have to act up now?” Marinette talked to her stomach, embarrassed. “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?!”

As Marinette complained to herself about her body being against her, a bit of code flickered in front of her again. Marinette’s head shot up and she stared in front of her, expecting to see the screen.

It wasn’t there.

Damn it! Is this game playing jokes on her? Marinette grabbed the glass from where the maid put it and stared down at it. Maybe she should just try to use magic by herself and see if that worked? She didn’t have anything to lose.

Squeezing her eyes shut, she raised a hand above the glass and started to picture it coming up to her hand. She focused, clearing her mind of all things except moving the water. After a few minutes nothing had happened, but Marinette didn’t give up. She wanted to feel the water splash against her hand.

-But after a few more minutes, nothing happened. Disappointment rolled of Marinette in waves, causing her to sigh. She finally opened her eyes and looked at the empty glass-

The EMPTY GLASS?

Marinette looked around her and saw a small bit of water floating beside her. It worked! It really worked!

Suddenly, as if wanting to take advantage of Marinette’s happiness, the screen appeared with the words, “magic: Creative Manipulation.”

Notes: 2 chapter in only a couple hours! That shouldn’t make me this happy when I forget to update for months(or even years, sorry about that) but hehehe. I got a lot of things planned out this time!

Villainess/ anti-hero Marinette. I don’t really like the colors.

I don’t know what to name her or my AU, but she’s fighting fake Idol heroine Lila. I forget what name I gave her, she has the Ladybug and Peahen miraculous.

Marinette has the black cat miraculous. I may give Adrien the Butterfly.

Hmmmm Lila and Chloe are using theirs for fame and attention….

The miraculous box is missing a few miraculi…..

So maybe they are used to transform into idol/ artist costumes? Or something.

Some are indie artist and some are in a band?

Like Marinette is an independent Fashion designer but as the Black Cat she is dancer????

Lila uses hers to fight amok she creates for fake fights and become famous for it. She makes herself a fake heroine and an idol. She has okay singing skills, but she does use a lot of autocorrect on her songs.

Adrien could use his like he’s an agent or something idk. He’d send his akumas after Lila to confront her. She is a fake hero and loved by the populous as an idol.

Chloe is using her to be a model that does photoshoots and commercials, sometimes with Lila.

Overall some miraculous are being used to make some hero’s and villains famous. Others aren’t in the spotlight and are either underground/ independent or being more tactical with their miraculous.

They aren’t all working together and have their own reasons to be a hero or villain.

I guess Fu is like a manager if the theme is fame? Idol/ artist?

miraculous otome game: does chloe have no role? not even in adrien's route? (I know it's an old au of yours but I just found it)

And actually, Chloe would essentially have been the Villainess.

While Marinette may have been the rival for Adrien's route (pre DLC anyway), Chloe is the Villainess who causes problems for Lila regardless of the route she takes. At least on the civilian side of things.

After all, no otome game is complete without an antagonist. Hawk Moth may be the supervillain, but he's really only Lila's antagonist in the Superhero Route. On the Civilian Route, Chloe is the biggest antagonist and part of OG Lila's growth was supposed to come from standing up to her and thwarting her attempts to cause trouble.

Even in the Superhero Route, Chloe causes problems, albeit to a lesser extent than Hawk Moth but still...enough.

But now that Lila has derailed the game...who knows? Chloe's role may actually change...
