Hello! I have friends who are considering participating in Elyan Fest 2024 but who do not have Tumblr accounts. Is it sufficient for them to post works to the AO3 collection without doing the additional tag-the-fest-account step on Tumblr? Or is there an alternative way you’d like to be notified when they post a fill to the collection? Thanks for creating this event!

Hey, I’m super excited about this fic challenge and I’m happily working away on a new fic I’d like to submit. I’ve never participated in something like this through AO3 before, though, so I have some potentially dumb questions. :/ Am I supposed to “join” Gwen Fest on AO3 as a participant, then use the appropriate tags/post-to-collection when I post my fic on AO3 during the week of the relevant prompt? Or are only the moderators supposed to “join” while the rest of us just “post to collection”? Or would you prefer that we not post anything directly to the collection on AO3; just post the link on tumblr and @ the blog? Thanks for coordinating this! Gwen definitely deserves more good fics :)

Hey there! These aren’t bad questions at all.

We want folks to post to the AO3 collection and share a link to their fic on Tumblr. The Gwen Fest collection on AO3 is moderated, so once you submit your fic, it’ll show up after a mod approves it. Edit: You don’t have to join as a participant on AO3! Just post to collection.

For anyone who isn’t sure how to use collections, just go to the editing page for your fic, then scroll down to the “Associations” section. The option to post to a collection is right underneath it, so just type in “gwen” and “Gwen Fest (gwenfest)” should show up as an option. Select it and you’re good!

Status: Incomplete (1/2 chapters)

Summary: Somehow Merlin was the best dice player he’d ever met. He would never admit it out loud, but Merlin was good. Really good. Too good. Merlin had to be cheating. Arthur didn’t know how and he didn’t know why, but he was going to figure out how the hell Merlin was cheating at dice if it was the last thing he did.

Excerpt:

The prince of Camelot stood outside the Rising Sun Tavern, shivering in the cool night air, trying to build up the confidence to go inside for the dice game of a lifetime against the best player in Camelot: Merlin.

Arthur liked his new servant. Merlin might not have been perfect at his job (or good at all), but Arthur considered him a friend and they worked well together. He liked how Merlin would always find ways to cheer him up. They had a good thing going, and Arthur had found it in himself to forgive his father for assigning Merlin to him.

One thing Arthur didn’t like, though, was that somehow Merlin was the best dice player he’d ever met—and he meant that with complete sincerity for once. He would never admit it out loud, but Merlin was good. Really good.

Too good.

How that was possible, Arthur had no idea. Once, the dang servant got so many correct calls in a row that he beat the entirety of Camelot’s knights who had each volunteered to play against him. It was unbelievable. Arthur was going to beat him today, no matter what.

vikingsong From one psych patient to another, may I encourage you to contact your psychiatrist’s office & ask re: your options, even if it’s day-of your appt? I’m certain you’re not the only patient who’s concerned (which is totally valid; I’m sorry your fam isn’t taking it seriously). Dr’s office may have alt options—either virtual visit or add’l precautions in-office to protect patients & staff, so talking re: options w/ them might help w/ appt anxiety. Kudos for your courage to seek treatment! ❤️

It’s a bit late to do that now, but I’ll see about it tomorrow before the appt, thanks :) got so wrapped up in my anxiety I didn’t even conisder asking them directly

#worst case i'd probably rather re-schedule even if I have to wait a few months #but hopefully there's better options than that #just sucks that covid adds this extra layer of fear and complications to everything #also did tumblr remove the option to reply to replies directly?#i swear that was a thing

So I got this from a few places, such as the FanFic Summer Reading Challenge as well as one of the profiles I’m following mentioning that they wanted to do a reading list of every fanfic they’ve read. I read A LOT, hence why wanted to do the Summer Reading Challenge, but I also wanted to share fics with people, so I’ve decided that every Sunday I’ll post the fics I’ve read in a Reading List for the week.

Fic ratings range from G to E, but all of them are labeled so if something isn’t your cup of tea, don’t read it. Since this is my first list and I want to see how it turns out I’ll keep them all together for now, but depending on how it turns out I might start dividing them up by fandom and possibly by Rating.
