Petition for artists to stop calling their art 'sketches' and 'doodles' unless it's actually a sketch (quick, unfinished pencil on paper or the digital equivalent). It probably sounds like I'm kidding but I'm genuinely not; as an artist who used to tag lots of stuff this way, I thought it was a humble way of saying 'eh it's not that great' but then I'd turn around and see some artist whose skill is WAY out of my league saying the same shit about their gorgeous, full color art. And whether or not the intent is self depreciating (which is bad in itself), the takeaway I'd always get is 'this was easy and I didn't spend very much time on it'. Cuz that's what a sketch IS, it's something low effort and unfinished. And not to sound salty but it's a bit of a 'fuck you' to people at lower skill levels who would probably chop off a limb to turn out something that good. It then slowly dawned on me that I must be the 'fuck you'-er to some people, cuz we're all our own worst critics and I know some people really do like my art, regardless of how I might feel about it.

Anyway I highly doubt anyone's intentions are really 'fuck you', I'm sure yr all doing it for similar reasons as mine were, but it's a bit hurtful and disheartening nonetheless. If you put effort into your piece, be proud of it! Otherwise ppl are gonna think 'wow if THIS is just a doodle, what the hell am I even doing?'

Two, I made something for you Space Riders AU-

So I looked at your AU and had a single Thought within my lone brain cell (the rest were on vacation at the time), asking a very important question "Who tells the Riders where they need to be?".

So after a quick doodle session, I give you Ranger Vener(s)!

Ranger Veners are a network of Ai's that all have their own space stations spread throughout the Galaxy. They act as both watch towers and places for Riders to pickup supplies or get access to specialized equipment they may need.

Should anything that needs a Space Rider within the sector the station is in happens, they have a almost instant communication's system to spread the information to every near by station and Rider.

They also take orders for supplies ahead of time by calling in, so they will be able to get everything a rider needs ready for when they get to the station!

They may also be somewhat illegal and war criminals, but eh, price to pay for free super amazon.

sure thing! i was already working on a drawing anyway, so any excuse to exercise a quick sketch never hurts.

im not really too good with drawing furries so they probably look pretty awkward. anyway, yeah, you can tell there's a lot of resemblances between duke and papa bull. i actually copied and mirrored on purpose and just changed certain details (mainly age and fashion sense).

i tried to make papa bull to look softer, kinder, in his eyes, while it's harder to interpret with duke, other than him being a bit awkward.

they all do have hair tho! a bit more mullet-like, i suppose, but i don't think they can help that considering how their anatomy works (and i'm somewhat trying to keep true to the irl animals as well so there's not really any 'rainbow anime gravity defying' hair going on there). papa bull have a bit more hair than duke, since he had a beard whileas duke doesn't.

if you noticed that duke didn't have the nose ring, good eye! i figured it's a specific species cultural factor, that the head of the family has it (regardless of the gender).

they're actually supposed to be darker, closer to black, but i also wanted to show the wrinkles and other finer details in their looks thus the brown. i...think i might like them better that way, but eh.

as for dorothy, she adore kids regardless of who or what they are. she's always happy to see the little devon and fawn on them lol i kind of tried to keep her to look like a (summery) farm girl, with a lot of body confidence in herself, but it's pretty sketchy so i don't think thats obvious. she's a big, happy gal though.

OKAY SO

I'll break these down by character!

1.) Baby Teeth:

His parents refer to him as "Junior", but everyone else calls him "Doc".

Aside from his parents, he won't respond to anyone who calls him Junior sjdjdkl

His purple vest + scarf are of his own creation! Most of the clothes his mother picks are rather drab, so he's taken to rummaging through closets, thrift stores, and the occasional dumpster to find materials/old clothes to decorate :)

Aside from Janice, he's very good at being a mediator (that is, when he's not butting heads with Floyd sjdkkd)

2.) Floyd:

Floyd is very rough-and-tumble, and most of his clothes reflect that lmao

He's very agile and active, and always quick to think up a new game!

Out of all the mayhem, Floyd is most prone to getting into trouble shdfjkgk

He's gotten stuck in trees, caught in playground equipment, lost on multiple occasions, yet often emerges without a scratch!

3.) Janice

Not surprising in the slightest, Janice is a sweetheart all around :)

She's very at one with nature, often playing with bugs and small animals on the playground (much to the horror of adults watching sjdkkd)

She once tried to sneak a squirrel she "befriended" into the daycare shdjdjkl

Along with Teeth, she's quite good at art, and enjoys painting and coloring (although, she's been known to stray from the canvas, often covering walls, floors, and even other people in her doodles)

4.) Lips

Lips is quite talkative, even if not everyone can understand him. This literally doesn't phase him though lmao as he will talk as long as you're willing to listen

He's a remarkable reader for his age, but his penmanship? Eh, he's doing his best :)

He's easily excited, and very energetic!

5.) Zoot

while everyone else is built for playtime, zoot is built for naptime sddgghjkl

His blanket means a great deal to him, even if he's prone to misplacing it. The mayhem is good about keeping track of where he leaves it tho :)

He's easily distracted, but surprisingly thoughtful at times. For example, he may not remember someone's birthday, but he knows their favorite flower :)

He's a good listener, even though he may fall asleep during the conversation sdfhgjkl

He's a little clumsier than the others, most likely because of the hair in his face + constant state of sleepiness

this is all I got for now, but if y'all have questions or stuff to add I'd love to hear it!! Here's a few more doodles in the meantime :)

Quick OC Doodle. Downloaded some new photoshop brushes and Raegyn is here to help me test them out. The pencil effect is kinda neat I like it.

Funny stuff. As a little kid Raegyn always looked pissed because he’s just disappointed in everyone and everything lmao. At his level there’s almost nothing he finds interesting or worthy of his time. He actually only started to smile because he discovered that hey… yknow what? Smiling and acting all nice and cute gets him what he wants, so why not. All he has to do is control a few facial muscles, make them stay in position for a while, pout his lips and blink his eyes in a certain way, and maybe even tell some pretty lies, and boom just like that he can get his Clan Leader and basically anyone to give in to his every demand. He’s got this allllll figured out. Yeahhhhh. This kid’s got his acting stats all maxed out.

As for his expression here… idk. Probably Ray is not too happy about his parents putting him in the same clothes as older half-brother Kaekae, just because of “twinning” … or whatever shallow business the adults are up to. Pah, they’re not even twins! Damn, his parents must be insane. Karias is also insane. They’re all insane. Ray obviously thinks he’s better (and way cuter) than Kaekae so them dressing identically is obviously an insult to him, lol. Fortunately Ray eventually grows out of his “bow down to me” phase… orrrrrrr maybe he just got better at hiding it. Manipulating it. Or something else. Worse. Who knows. Eh. He’s cute for now, so he can be forgiven while he’s still at it. Once he loses his kiddie cuteness he’s gonna need to come up with new tactics and you can be pretty damn sure he’s gonna succeed.

Looking forward to writing about him in the future. I do have something very long planned so stay tuned!

Alongside Sukuna’s very questionable choices later on that fundamentally go against what Yuji believes, and his ability to completely contain Yuji, he’s also… sort of Yuji’s dead twin brother, remake edition. That comes with all sorts of reminders from the start that Yuji tries to ignore, but at as time goes on, that becomes ever more difficult.

Does he tell Sukuna this fact? Absolutely not.

He doesn’t really want to take over Megumi’s body either, because he likes Megumi, he considers Megumi a friend, even if those feelings aren’t mutual. He actually apologises before doing so. Megumi is simply the more suitable host, the natural born host, not the one made by Kenjaku.

I've grown way too unhinged with these "asks", but I've been meaning to send you this one for a while, so please indulge me!

From what I've noticed, a lot of the Royai fan artists I follow tend to prefer drawing Riza, when they're not portraying her with Roy. But I've noticed that a number of your pieces focused on Roy only, which I find very interesting! Would you say that his character inspires you more than Riza, artistically/creatively speaking? If so, in what ways?

And lol yeah, sometimes I feel like I stick out like a sore thumb among the Royai people. But eh, healthy ecosystems need biodiversity 🤣

I hope my answer isn't too long.

I do have a preference for Roy in drawing, for a number of reasons.

I precise in drawing, because I do love writing Riza, not more than I do writing Roy, but they're relatively even for me - even if, yes, I tend to favour Roy because he's easier for me, there, too.

I like to draw him, because I like his face, expressions and postures, and I like to explore them. He's a fun little guy to draw, when I think Riza is cool AF (and I have a lot to say about her character, too!) but she's not as fun to draw for me (once again I love her and she's in fact the female character I have drawn the most I think, because I have a hard time drawing women, but still, if I'm looking for a quick doodle, I'll go towards Roy).

But yes, they're more or less indissociable for me, and for proof my first fan art for FMA was indeed Royai (here!).

Anyway. While Royai is my favourite ship and I love Riza to bits, my favourite character in FMA is Roy. Roy first. (And my husband has understood that well, he's calling me when we do a rewatch and Roy appears on screen and I'm not watching. Like HURRY ROY IS THERE).

Now, if anyone who knows me from earlier than my FMA obsession reads this, and I describe the utter mess that is Roy, they'll understand that it couldn't have gone any other way. Here's a man in a position of power, who hides everything behind a façade, who's a nerd and highly intelligent (I admit I'm often irked by some posts in the royai fandom. This guy is smart. He's goofy, he's a dork, but he's smart. Book smart, he's a fine tactician, and he can command. Erasing that is erasing part of his identity, and I'm sure part of why Riza loves him, too), has a weird sense of humour even though he can also be intense af, is crushed by unbelievable guilt from his past actions (I admit Roy and Roza both beat all of my previous fixations in that, good job being war criminals, guys 🙃) and intends to repair what he's done as much as he can, one way or another, whose sole goal is to make things better for others/his place/his country, whatever he has to give up for it to work, who inspires others doing that, and who gets badly injured/disabled during the story and keeps going and fighting teeth and nails through it and beyond?

WELL. There is no question I will fall for this dude instantly. This is like. Checking all the boxes for me to be instantly in love with this guy. Like. I think he's actually the only one who checks ALL of my boxes.

I do think however that Roy isn't complete without Riza, and that it's the same on her side (like. I've only tagged my current fic with "codependency" but that's how I write them whatever I write). I'm just fixating on him first, but I still find Riza an awesome character, there's no debate there 😊
