Kuroo Tetsurou as the owner and artist of K. Ink. Yes, it's K DOT Ink. It is not Kink. He now regrets all of his marketing decisions.
Bokuto Koutarou as the resident body piercer who probably shouldn't be trusted with needles given the number of times he's pricked himself.
Akaashi Keiji as the front desk clerk who might have a caffeine problem, but he's not really interested in talking about that right now.
Y/N as the newest apprentice who is fully over Kuroo's bullshit. He should consider himself lucky that he's good at his job.
Daishou Suguru as law school dropout turned owner and artist of Seven Deadly Tattoos, a good friend of yours and an even better enemy of Kuroo's.
With Special Guest Appearances From:
Tsukishima Kei as K. Ink regular who is getting pretty tired of the disgusting level of sexual tension in the shop.
Terushima Yuuji as the resident body piercer of Seven Deadly Tattoos who just might be Daishou's most chaotic business decision, but he keeps the place interesting, right?

something that stood out to me was this panel. the chapter is titled "the game you can't afford to lose" and the focus is on akaashi. this doesn't seem all that logical considering that he's a second year student, so he could just try again. plus, i don't think we've ever seen him express an intense desire to win (but correct me if i'm wrong here). so, why is this game so important? because if they don't win, he won't be able to play volleyball with bokuto anymore.
but that's not the only goal akaashi has. bokuto wants to win - and akaashi is going to get him there at any cost. he is going to make sure that bokuto achieves his goal.
2. akaashi
akaashi has a tendency to overthink. this can be a good thing - he is able to predict bokuto's reactions fairly well thanks to his analytical mind. however, he gets lost in his head sometimes, and that's when he can get outsmarted by an opponent.
at least he's self-aware, though
3. bokuto appreciation time
look at him! doing his little excited jump!
bokuto x kuroo friendship
bokuto x hinata friendship
this panel.
bonus: live kuroken reaction
4. kiryu - emotional investment
wakatsu kiryu is not the person we should be rooting for. the characters we've known longer are fukurodani - they're even friends of our main characters.
and yet.
he is not simply the antagonist of this arc. instead of focusing on how our mc's can defeat kiryu and his team, we are made to feel sympathy for him. and his backstory if very similar to several other characters'! by now, we know what it feels like being defeated by people more "talented." we know what it feels like being scared to take on the responsibility of being your team's ace. all of those fears are ones our protagonists also experience.
kiryu is just like them. he is just another teenager who wants to keep playing volleyball with his friends for as long as he can.
and that's both the beauty and tragedy of haikyuu. you can't pick a side. you don't want anyone to lose. there is not a single character you can look at and think, "i don't like you, i don't care about your motivation and hopes, i hope you lose."
5. this line daishou says.
often, when it comes to sports the focus is on who wins and who loses. but at its core, that's not what any sport is truly about. and this is especially obvious in haikyuu. it's never (well. almost never. looking at you oikawa) about defeating another team. it's about having fun. i will never stop screaming about this
6. kenma and hinata
i love their friendship so much. i have talked about them every week and i have run out of new things to say about them. but just, look at them.
7. one of the most important panels this week
it's kuroo thinking this, which i think matters because it shows he cares for his friend. it also reminds us that bokuto's ability to play well depends on his mood. and the only one who can make sure that bokuto either stays positive or gets out of his "emo mode" is akaashi. which brings us back to my very first point. the key element to winning this game and making sure bokuto reaches his goal is akaashi.
Hey everyone! Before we start posting for Week 3, there’s something we’ve noticed in the first two weeks. There seem to be people who are too scared to join, might not have the time to write lengthy analyses or simply don’t feel like it. And we just kinda wanna say: that’s fine! We’re happy you’re reading along, liking stuff, thinking about stuff. But also:
Don’t be afraid to just post a single screenshot, or one sentence about what you liked from this week, or just literally anything!
i’m so bad at media consumption that i will viscerally hate every antagonist even if they’re not really even that bad. even if the stakes are insanely low and they’re only like, a snake who causes drama. a complicated relationship from a characters past comes back to haunt them?? i am the PRESIDENT of their hate club
