so ever since i saw undertale yellows merciless route, ive been having a thought about it:

which is also helped by me having had a big interest in undertale aus back in the day dfhjkg

UNDERTALE YELLOW MERCILESS SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT

what would happen afterward in that timeline? what happens to the underground after asgore is killed, and theyre shot back to square one?

what would happen if frisk still fell down in that timeline?

so if youll excuse my still-practicing pixel art (i did end up grabbing the hat and pistol off a clover spritesheet on spriters resource though, and the pose and poncho were built off a couple kris sprites), a small sprite edit, and a maybe-meh teen clover design:

for right now im calling this Vengeance AU for a lack of a better name that wouldnt just be [blank]tale or under[blank], with or without a "yellow" attached

also i made clover a teen just to set this version of them apart, plus a blue, starry poncho instead of their usual bandana, and spurs on their boots

(IF ANYONE PICKS THIS AU UP FOR ANTHING, CLOVER AND FRISK (and chara, if included) USE THEY/THEM PRONOUNS!!)

an au where after the events of yellows merciless run, frisk still falls down mt ebott, whether because of clover, or their own reason,

but clover, who once made the climb themself to get vengeance for the other 5 fallen humans, isnt about to let yet another go missing under their watch, and decides to chase after them, and bring them back home. by force, if necessary.

so it ends up with frisks journey through the underground being constantly chased by clover. and while clover doesnt want to intentionally hurt frisk, since their motivation is the "protection" of humankind, it would still no doubt be terrifying for frisk, and clover WILL hurt the monsters.

ruins end up being mostly the same, minus clovers pursuit. toriel, still locked in the ruins, probably wouldnt have heard about asgores death, and would only realize upon seeing clover, grown up, covered in dust, and detached from the world around them.

outside though, things would take a much more bleak turn.

the royal guard is more present after a surge of recruitment, monsters have mostly accepted that theyre stuck down there for eternity, some making the most of it and trying to live happily, others not so much. and when it comes to humans, monsterkind is just a little more on-edge.

papyrus also ends up being recruited, however hes only a lookout/watchman, and not a fully-fledged guardsman, due to undynes biases. she WOULD have preferred he wasnt hired at all, but the guard was desperate, and didnt have many other volunteers

also due to hotlands evacuation at the time, martlets final stand is mostly forgotten, only seen as a rumor with little ground. the only thing people know of is that there was a strange withered flower on the roof of the apartments, but no one thinks anything of it. there is, however, still a lingering resentment in the air around it that makes monsters uneasy, but also weirdly enough, like theres someone watching over all of them

other than that, im not too sure where this au would go, how frisk would end up dealing with clover by the end, or even if frisk would end up in places like the dunes or steamworks, or if theyd stick to roughly the same areas.

i mostly just thought itd be interesting to start to imagine how different things would be, and considering clovers personality and motivations in merciless, i thought itd be interesting if they became an antagonist, following frisk down to drag them back

i might think more on this and add stuff onto it in the future, but for right now this is all there is, but people are free to build on it in their own ways, if they like!! (and/or send an ask and i can TRY to think of an answer, but knowing myself i cant promise anything)

So I was thinking about necromancer Khash the other day, and I couldn't help but think about what would happen to the other followers if the ldb died. Particularly Kaidan.

Then I remembered that line after they get engaged about him being afraid of something snatching them out of his arms and hooo boy wouldn't that be something. Just imagine that. Kaidan's life was literally nothing but pain until he met the ldb, he's terrified that his happiness will get taken away like always and then it does. ISN'T THAT SICK.

Like what would he do!? What does someone do after that? I think he'd just become this horrifying beast of a man. Just an absolute monster blazing through Skyrim. A full on FE3H Dimitri breakdown. Dragons. Bandits. The Dark Brotherhood. You name it. The dude doesn't even care anymore. If the Dragonborn so much as fought you once, Kaidan's coming for you like you wielded the blade yourself. Though obviously, we don't even want to know what he did to the person or thing that actually killed them.

He'd just keep fighting and fighting until he couldn't anymore and I just- I WANNA SCREAM

“The living don’t understand.” A voice hissed.

Jason looked around, on guard. He couldn’t see anything, and it sounded like it was everywhere at once. “Understand what?”

“Vengeance.” They said, stepping out of the shadows. “They believe that since we came back, there is nothing to avenge. It does not change the fact that we died. We will never be the same, always scarred, tortured by the thought of our deaths, and they do nothing!”

“What are you?” Jason asked, a hand carefully resting on his gun. “Why are you talking like-“

“Like I died?” A humorless grin split the creature’s lips, teeth too sharp to be normal peeking through. “I did. I died, and I came back, but just like you, not all of me returned. I thought I was fine, that I could move on, but they kept hurting me, and nobody cared, nobody stopped them!” The green eyes glowed just a little brighter. “So I stopped them.”

Jason swallowed. Now that he was looking closer, beyond the teeth and the claws and the glowing, the thing in front of him… it almost looked like a kid.

“Don’t you want to stop him?” It- He asked, tilting his head. “Don’t you want your vengeance? Don’t you want to rest?”

He did, he’s so tired he wants to move on but he can’t-

Jason snapped back to awareness with growing horror, the green leaving his vision. “What are you doing to me?!” He demanded, trying his best to keep the fear from his voice.

The thing in front of him clicked. “I am trying to help you move on. Nobody helped me, after all, and if I can help any souls move on and find peace in their afterlife, then why would I not?”

Move on? Find peace? Jason’s eyes widened in realization.

“Don’t worry, dear Revenant.” The ghost said, smiling at him. “I won’t leave. Not until you’re ready. Nobody deserves to be alone.”

its vengeance au PAPYRUS time (LINKED POST HAS UTY MERCILESS SPOILERS)

i was originally planning on having more sprite edits n stuff for this but unfortunately i think too many of my thoughts would be too hard for me to sprite, at least not currently, but. since i dont want to be spending months on this:

like i mentioned in the original post, after clovers slaughter of a decent part of the underground, and progress toward breaking the barrier being shot back to square one as a result, the royal guard essentially goes into a panic, putting out a mass recruitment.

much to the relatively-newly-crowned empress, undynes, dismay, this includes papyrus. wouldnt be a good look for her to turn down such an enthusiastic volunteer, especially not when the guard is in desparation.

but shes still biased, and doesnt want to see him hurt, so she manages to position him as a royal watchman instead of a guard. instead of capturing a human, his job is just to keep watch, help anyone who needs help in the forest, and if he manages to spot a human, all he needs to do is report the sighting to the rest of the guard. pretty simple and fitting job for him, and hes still very enthusiastic about it!! plus he gets a neat ranger uniform, so win-win (the design stuck)

once frisk escapes the ruins though, and clover chases after, papyrus notices somethings not right before hes able to send his report. theres TWO whole humans, which would surely make undyne and the guard happy, maybe send him up a couple ranks too, but...

his job is also to HELP people. and clearly, frisk needs help. so in a conflict of interest, papyrus opts to help frisk find safety deeper into the woods, and only reports clover, to try and keep them at bay

realizing way too late the kind of threat they are, and that theyre too far gone for his usual approach of trying to talk them down like he does in undertale. he'll attack clover, but only when they have him and/or his friends cornered and its absolutely necessary. papyrus IS tough, so he can at least stall them, but he also knows his best chance is to find an opening to flee (he still has to protect frisk, after all), and that a prolonged encounter isnt really in his favor

unfortunately, being a watchman, as well as undyne being busy with empress duties, means he doesnt have as much time for his usual Spaghetti Training, so he falls back to rations of dinosaur egg oatmeal (calling them rations makes it sound cooler to him), which he gladly shares with anyone

...he gets a little overexcited though. its fine, this is normal for him, dont worry. also, the oatmeal survives this.

also in case youre wondering about sans: hes....actually pretty much the same, all things considered. hes happy papyrus got into the guard, tags along to his outposts, pulls his usual pranks, that kind of stuff. this isnt a sans au (and i dont really want it to be), so theres like. not a lot of emphasis on him, and theres not really going to be. he'll still like. timestop to drag papyrus and frisk out of danger given that hes there, cuz he does want to help protect them both, but hes not going to go all out on clover, at least not right away, and not without backup or a plan.

(also i say timestop and not teleport just because thats my own interpretation of the grillbys scene, and him having attacks start and end in seemingly random spots during his fight, i dont think its definitively canon or anything, but i still lean more toward timestop than simple teleportation)

WITH undyne busy though, papyrus is assigned a different captain to answer and report to.

she will come later though. once i can make a sprite or two, and have more details ironed out. (should probably also start making a masterpost for this au at some point)

hi yes, can I pls with a cherry on top get some more Kaidan dead ldb angst??? just some headcanons? perhaps some big bad guy necromancer brings them back to life and... I dunno, Kaidan has to strike them down... just a thought hehe

This is so evil. I love it.

-Everyone who saw the Dragonborn fall remembers Kaidan’s scream. It was the most tortured, heartbreaking sound any of them have ever heard. The man raced across the battlefield and fell to his knees to cradle his betrothed in his arms and he begged the gods to heal them, to bring them back, but they were gone.

-The companions try their best to help Kaidan, but he just loses himself too quickly. Every time they try to get through to him, he pushes them away. The only thing that keeps them from giving up is their love for the ldb and the memory of his screaming pleas when they died. After a few years pass, it gets harder to track Kaidan down, but they try to check in when they can. Sometimes Inigo follows him around and they just fight and hunt together in silence.

-After years of killing enemy after enemy in the name of his beloved, one day they're standing there. Right in front of him and for once, it’s not a dream or hallucination. He’s been hardened over time, but seeing them again breaks him beyond measure. They get closer and as soon as he sees the lifeless look in their eyes he knows it's not them. 

-When they attack, all Kaidan can do is dodge. He can’t bear to fight the person he loves and for a moment he almost lets them kill him–but then he gets angry. Someone desecrated the love of his life and their final resting place. With that anger fueling him, he does what must be done to lay his love to rest again. He runs them through with his sword and pulls them into his arms. This poor man, he just holds them and cries because were the gods really so unforgiving that he must endure this pain again?

-When Kaidan finds the Necromancer there is no hope for them. Whatever he does is not merciful and he takes his time. He knew it wouldn't bring them back, but it sated his rage and that's all he had left.

-Kaidan continues down this bloody path, even more ruthless than before as he slays old enemies of the ldb, bandits, dragons, assassins, etc. As time moves on, age slows him down and things he used to be able to do get harder. One day he takes on a battle that's too much for him and he just can't fight anymore. He draws his last breath on the battlefield alone, but he smiles anyway because in that final moment he sees the ldb's face and knows he'll be reunited with them soon.
