Hii so sorry for bothering you but, I love writing I’ve been doing it for a long time. I’d like to post on tumblr but I’m kinda new to it and don’t really know how to use it (gifs, text colors,…) so if it’s okay for you could you maybe teach me how to use it or give me some tips?

ok hmm i’m terms of gifs, there’s a button that says “GIF” whenever you’re making a post, so if you select it, it’ll give you a large selection of gifs you can add to your posts, and you can add up to 10 per post. you can also search for particular gifs you’re looking for, and if they exist, they’ll show up. however, it’s not super common anymore, at least not in engeneblr (the enhypen side of tumblr), to use gifs on posts anymore, unless they’re gif posts of gifs ppl create, which is rlly common and so much credit to them. they’re just as hardworking as us writers! also, fyi, in the GIF function, all those selections of gifs are previously made gifs by ppl on tumblr. meaning, you can actually make your own gifs if you wanted to. however, i’ve never done that before, so i can’t tell you how to do that, sorry sjsjsj ,, also, what i’ve noticed, generally, is that for fics, posts with gifs don’t tend to be as popular as ones with a banner or moodboard, if that’s what you’re using it for. so ig that can lead me to my next point…

here on tumblr, and you can see this with any of my works which you can find in my masterlist (which is basically a library writers create to keep all their works in one place) and you can find my masterlist on my pinned post at the top of my blog. and so yeah, you can look at some of my works for reference as to what a moodboard/banner looks like. and i made a survey a while ago for writers to get insight on what readers prefer (which if you want, you can later check it out, also linked on my pinned post) and readers said what often draws them to fics are the moodboard/banners at the top of the fic post.

in terms of text colours, in that same survey, many readers pointed out that the use of many text colours and fonts is often a turn off. obviously this doesn’t apply to every reader; there are many works on this site that uses lots of text colours and fonts and receive much success, but yeah this just applies to some readers. in terms of how many readers, i don’t exactly know. but ik many have said they do not prefer reading a fic with many text colours. some have also said they don’t like reading fics with the small text (the way you get that is by selecting the text you want to make small and then press the function that basically looks like this “<s>”), but again, there are many fics that have small text that receive lots and lots of recognition, but some readers have expressed that it’s v hard for them to read when done so, however, some find it more aesthetic to have the small text. personally, i don’t use the small text anymore for the actual story part of my works.

but yeah just experimenting and getting experience hands on and learning from what works and what doesn’t (whether that be from your own works or other writers’ works) is v helpful, and that was the way i learned as well. i rlly hope this helps you get started tho :) also, i obviously don’t know how experienced you are with tumblr, so i hope some of this stuff wasn’t just going over stuff you already know, and i hope this was helpful :) there was A LOT that i didn’t cover, so pls lmk what other things you would like help with, if any, like the basics of how to use tumblr, i’m not sure if that would be helpful for you? but i could find you a post on the basic algorithms and stuff if that would help. and yeah if you want me to get into anything else, pls don’t hesitate to lmk. i’m happy to help!

im gonna answer that anon re:whether i am responsible for the Coquette Revival but not to them directly but to just anyone who may come across my account

in short i say i played a major part in it. @heavenhood along with our friend who was also around during nymphet era talked a LOT about coming back to tumblr under the name coquette during quarantine our blogs were among the first few blogs to use coquette as an actual community to engage with each other post 2017, seeing as tho the coquette tag was just used for exposure and was dead with less than 100 ppl following it

we decided to bring it back because as those who were around during doelet know, it was a weird environment that was extremely racist and focused a lot on trauma and was just not a positive place at all and this is where i met @vampyr3wife and she was with me during a lot of the reviving coquette as we both didnt like the environment that doelet became

coquette was pretty active in insta (this is where i met @yayodolls ) and as she can confirm, it was a very different environment that again doesnt really resemble coquette as we know it now

coquette was also p active on wattpad in the form of guides but it was still using the term nymphet as it was the only platform tbat hadnt banned/flagged the term. in a sea of nymphet guides most were targeted towards white girls with maybe ONE special chapter for black girls and that was it so i made ONE of the first coquette guides targeted towards black girls specifically

after this i moved to YouTube to combat a lot of the misinformation Billie and the rest of the doelet era spread about the tumblr nymphet era, a lot of people found me and coquette thru this video

during this time of rebuilding the coquette tag to be more than me and 4 other people i started creating blogs and dming people handing them out to them and i actually managed to give lots of people blogs! and the ones who did not accept were very kind about it and ended up making coquette tumblr blogs after i was talking to them about my goal of rebuilding the community i loved again this is how i met @yayodolls

and through my wattpad, tumblr, and YouTube videos i met jaime loftus and was featured in episode 8 of her lolita podcast another avenue where lots of people discovered coquette thru me

this is also where i met my friend, youtuber Lola Sebastian who had been with me during my journey of getting back into and reviving coquette

but the way i went into reviving coquette is much different from how it is now portrayed. for instance this was the first time i used coquette as an actual community tag + subsequent posts describing my intentions which @r0sypeach was very helpful with as she joined me in this

Outing myself but my favourite pastime is to annon ask strangers why they use the Vinsmoke tag just to get them to openly say why to their followers so that everyone knows exactly where they stand. I say it neutrally so I'm not the angry guys you'll see beating tf outta ppl verbally, I genuinely just wanna know. Unfortunately, in most cases, its people having NO clue as to why it's even wrong so! I do feel slightly bad because I guess then they have to look it up and get spoilers but also I still stand by the fact that A. you should unfortunately expect that with One piece specifically but B. If you post about a character, you should know about the tags you use, yk? Mostly because that can also get you spoilers of a much bigger kind. I saw this discourse a year before i even know what Whole cake was so thats probably why i don't understand not knowing and using it anyway. Also, the want to tag it for exposure is huge, I get that but if it's not relevant, it's not gonna help you more than any other tags. Ryuji definitely finds Conventionally Attractive Girls pretty, but he realizes around postgame that he genuinely formed crushes on THREE people; Akira, Makoto, and Goro. And all three of them are people who carry themselves as a bit Soft and Delicate (akira and makoto w their personality and mannerisms, goro w his appearance) while also being deceptively strong. Yusuke WOULD fit into this but hes only strong in the metaverse. Also if u tried to argue that he still finds yusuke pretty, Ryuji would just say ‘yeah duh? Of course???’ and would not elaborate further.

I just think. Its cute 👉🏾👈🏾 Ryuji loves someone whos pretty and capable of knocking him flat on his ass lmao He LOVES a challenge and he likes that they can all challenge him in different ways.

Akira is way stronger than he looks; hes very toned and he used to be quite active before being shipped off to tokyo. And after fighting in the metaverse, hes gotten way better at using an enemies mass and momentum against them. Yeah he can properly knock someone down, but its way easier to let Ryuji charge him and use that momentum to sweep and pin. Which Ryuji remembers vividly for Weeks. Akira is not allowed to spar w him and Makoto for awhile after that.

Makoto is just strong as hell. But shes very defensive, and extremely patient. ‘Ill wait and see before I decide What to do’. Shes got good reaction timing and its hard to catch her offguard. Its very difficult to disorient her so oftentimes, his spars w her are more about endurance. And if he ASKS her to do so, she’ll actually fight him back. He never wins 😭 but she is very patient w him and she doesnt treat him like an idiot. She likes to give him tips and redirect his strengths to make up for his weaknesses and it makes him a bit warm in this chest

Spars w Goro are just fun. Theyre fun! Goro is way more aggressive and reckless than Makoto and Akira. He is looking for openings near constantly and Ryuji has to either keep up or tank hits. Its very. Engaging. For him. Sometimes he loses and Goro is giving him a look so smug, Ryuji wishes he could kick him in his fucking teeth (something he clearly couldnt do bc hes already been knocked flat on his ass). And sometimes he wins, and hes so shocked and HAPPY about it; he doesnt miss the way Goro looks away from him pouting like a brat (‘no fucking way are u POUTING man, what a sore loser 😭’). Goro and his uptight personality is thrown out the window completely and its so fun and refreshing to see. Hes tall and imposing w broad shoulders and toned arms and if Ryuji is staring, he finds himself immediately distracted when Goros cheerful, softspoken voice asks if hes willing to go another round.

I love it 👉🏾👈🏾 Ryujis got a complicated relationship w violence but it helps to have people he trusts engage with it in a way that doesnt make him feel like some brute. Theyre all kind of itching to beat the shit out of things for multiple reasons, but instead of taking that out on each other, they spend time training one another so that they can beat the shit out of OTHER things better. Its an efficient system 😊

been thinking of quitting tumblr or at least... idk... using it really differently

i feel like scrolling the dashboard i'm just inundated with so many bad takes / sexism / racism / horrendous world news / doomerism / things i've asked ppl to tag but aren't (not upset about it because i get that i'm asking a lot). and i get that it's supposed to be funny/absurd seeing people online say bad takes but it just makes me feel pretty down sometimes. in general i think exposure to random people's takes on the internet is just very damaging to my mental health. same with the constant stream of awful news

i'm currently finally seeing a therapist to try to help me with some of my more serious mental health issues and i think i'm overall just much more sensitive now than i was in the past. especially with the sexism stuff man. and i get why people wanna post about and complain about bad takes they see online regarding this but... god, i'm just exhausted. i'm tired. i don't have any more rage or ridicule left in me. i'm just incredibly sad at the state of the world rn and i have no more energy left to feel anything but sad about it.

scrolling specific character/fandom tags is still pretty safe so i'll still have that, but... yeah, for similar reasons to why i left twitter, i'm kind of feeling evacuating my main tumblr dash if nothing else.

that or i could get really aggressive about muting/unfollowing people for posting untagged bad take shit, but i'm already only following about 200 users and my dash would literally just be a ghost town if i did this lmao.

Why would an ethics committee not approve of it even if you had their full consent?

context: this is about tags i left on a post where it was like "if you could 100% be certain human flesh was ethically sources, full consent of the person, and they were in no pain and you wouldnt get sick, would you eat it"

in college we asked this very question, but took it a step further--most accounts we have of people who have well, eaten other people we done far less ethically or for survival. like, starving to death and all your companions are dead so you have to eat them, or serial killers who decide to cook and eat victims. all knowledge is based on that which we cannot entirely prove, there is no 100% true objectivity, blah blah, but we can all agree these ppl are like. less objective than the average person right. serial killers and murderers can and will lie or have smth seriously fucked up with them, ppl who are starving will prob think anything is fine enough, you get the picture

so, hypothetically, "what if we tried to be more objective about it to get less biased interpretations of how human meat would taste without having to like, murder someone or scavenge someone without their consent?" bc there are ppl who would be down to help. there are ppl who are into being eaten, even. we have the technology to make sure it is as painless as possible like with sedated surgery, or after they pass from unrelated means.

we were then told by our professor "no actual reputable ethics committee (which you have to go through as part of scientific study validation like, before you can even do the experiment) would approve that". queue 20 out of 35 anthropology undergrads being actually distraught by this trying to argue it. we even asked "well what if we did it with our own flesh? what if we got a part of our own body surgically removed and cooked and ate it, would they stop us then?"

the reasons why no ethics committee would approve it is because their job is primarily harm reduction. if you have looked into basically any social experiments, you'll know just what nightmares they could be before we had ethics committees, no informed consent (or consent at all), outright lying to ppl involved, putting them in direct harms way, leading to their deaths... you get the picture. consent is only ONE part of harm reduction.

"but shouldnt people be allowed to consent to things that might 'harm' them? we all do stuff that can potentially blow up in our faces. should we ban sky diving because you might die during it?" i do agree people have the right to consent to things that might harm them, like tattoos hurt, BDSM can hurt, you can die sky diving or storm chasing... part of our freedom as ppl is we can choose to do it. the issue isn't that people are too stupid to consent to stuff, its just scientific institutions shouldn't be incentivizing research that puts people in harms way. doing so can lead to more and more wildly careless experiments being conducted just for the thrill of more publicity and exposure, putting more and more people at risk. including if that risk is to researcher wanting to do it. even if you have the full consent of everyone involved "lets just do this wildly fucked up, risky, and uncommon thing just to see what fucking happens" is not a mindset you wanna breed in scientific circles. we saw what that line of thinking has done in the past, and it was awful

because like, eating a person while easy as an abstract hypothetical, involves a lot of risk. human to human transmission of diseases are high. there could be complications we dont even know of yet bc most people dont commit cannibalism for good reason evolutionary. someone has to handle it properly, cook it basically contaminating a bunch of cooking equipment, and instead of it being a guarantee you just have to hop you dont get sick. and if its with someone else there is like, the question of "how can you PROVE someone consented to this" because while there was a case of some guy "consenting" to being killed and eaten the story was actually twisted and the man hadn't consented to dying and having his whole body eaten. most ppl who say theyre into it would probably chicken out at the actual process, which like, no shame in that.

tl;dr: an ethics committee's job is to stop fucked up shit from happening in a way that is scientifically validated and incentivized to prevent future atrocities from taking place, they arent gonna approve your fucked up experiment to eat human meat just bc you wanna fuck around and find out. as much as we all kinda wish they would just a little. if you can find the people who really want to and can make it happen on your own time i guess sure why not but good luck with that and not getting arrested

i def agree with what you said about how the fandom handles heart's blindness so thank you for calling it out before it got worse. i feel that it would make more sense if he put the blindfold on himself, like how other ppl in the tags on your post said.

another thing that ive noticed is how heart is sometimes infantilized and seen as someone who can "do no harm" which is... strange to say the least. i think ppl forget that he is a personification of a grown man's emotions and depression (sorry for wording it like that lol i didn't know how else to say it)

As for victimizing heart or ‘ saying he can do no wrong’ and infantilization… yeah I can see this as another issue that’s starting to sprout up, and some people in the tags of that previous post have mentioned it as well. And while I know that’s not everybody and I figure that is also another case where people don’t really intend to do it and just aren’t thinking about it, that doesn’t really erase the problem. This applies mostly to people depicting heart as childish, not being able to handle himself, being idiotic, victimizing and woobifying him etc. So, I really hope you don’t mind me using this as a chance to talk about that a bit, too.

Being over emotional does not, at all, translate to any of the traits I just listed out in the slightest. Sure, heart may be a little naive and impulsive as per his nature, but that is not the same. You are absolutely right to point out that heart an adult here, too. And at the end of the day the album seems to make it very clear that Heart and Mind are not all that unlike each other, but are unwilling to admit their similarities and highlight and judge their differences heavily. Heart is just as harmful and violent as mind, just in a different way. He has the propensity to be just as cunning or manipulative as Mind, too. Even his tactic of victimizing himself is a show of this, and Mind points this out several times in the album. They are two sides of the same coin. There is a large difference between Heart victimizing himself and actually being the victim, which he is not. Or at least, he is not completely blameless for the hole that he has dug for himself. When people show heart as being the victim or as doing no wrong, a lot of the nuance is completely lost.

Secondly, the internet and fan spaces have a bad habit of infantilizing people with mental illness, in general. Depression does not make someone soft and cute because they’re sad all the time. Depression does not make someone an uwu bean. Depression makes someone — as we can very clearly see by how Heart is within the cannon itself— a wreckage of rage and disdain that struggles to crawl out of a spiral of misery and apathy. It’s not pretty. When you boil it down to all of the things I’ve mentioned as being a problem here— that’s infantilization. This is also a big problem when it comes to disabled characters (Because people jump to the conclusion that the character cannot do much for themselves because of the disability, do not understand how disabled people actually advocate for themselves and function day to day from lack of experience or exposure to disabled people, want to depict them as incapable, etc). So, the fact that Heart is both of these things creates a ripe mess. This is kind of why I’m hoping to make some less angry, more informational post about some of the things blind people use to function just like other people here, sometime. Because the lack of these things in itself may lend into the infantilization problem. Being able to do things— having agency and independence over oneself— is a large part of breaking away from that. And I think it says a Lot that you rarely see this happen with Mind or Soul, as well.

So sorry if this came off at all angry, but I’m very passionate about it as someone whose experienced infantilization in my life from other people assuming things about me solely based on my disability. So, if I can say something to stop people from perpetuating it in fan content then I will. 👉🏻👈🏻. At any rate, thank you for the ask! I’m sure there’s a typo or two in here. So so sorry for that!

I think the reason it bothers me so much when ppl try their ‘gotcha’ moments on me with regards to content creation is because it’s true that i support new and small creators a lot less than i used to but ppl love to act like I’ve never done it at all and I have no right to be upset with the way the community has treated me as a whole.

I took it upon myself countless times to organise resource lists, take hours of my day to research and compile accounts that provide the highest quality files for people who really want them, and I genuinely never asked for anything in return except for a reblog to boost it to creators. I set up my own user tag to support content, I repeatedly ask people to tag me directly if I don’t see something, I’ve done giveaways, I’ve literally created an extra 4 or 5 kpop24hrs accounts so that I could give them away to people who missed the signup deadline, because there was always a handful. I share my psds when asked. I risk my accounts all the time by helping others, any news I get about anything, I share. If I get asked for a tutorial or an explanation or a debate or a new creator comes to me for anything I’m always helpful. and frankly all I got in return from the kpop cc community is masses of hate for wanting more exposure, or for not supporting harmful content, or for not ‘doing enough’ because i decided a year or two ago that I don’t want to reblog content from people who either whitewash/oversaturate on purpose, don’t support me as well, or send hate to my friends. i even got hate for not visiting general tags anymore because of the amount of smut, or because people straight up want me to risk my own comfort (seeing abuse-glorifying fics everywhere) to support their content, even though they’re the first to call it not being ‘that deep’ and ‘just a hobby’. I think there’s a lot you can say about me but I don’t think ‘unsupportive of other ccs’ is a valid criticism given all I said and more.

Ok you know what? I’m digging into the past here (said as if this isn’t an All Time Highly Beloved Interest That I Still Think And Talk About A Lot) and talking abt p5 bc p5 is something ive read the most fic of and had the strongest fic opinions on. And art exists. as well. Anyway I have always been desperate for good royal trio content that caters to me specifically. Like ok. I understand why that does not exist in very high quantities. Because the “royal trio” are not really actually a trio in canon and have very few interactions and very little dynamic, AND my thoughts on them are very niche and specific. But especially a year ago when I was desperately rampaging thru p5 ao3 tags to find stuff to read it was always just. Very few people Got It in a way i really liked. I reaaaallly want to see stuff that actually MAKES USE OF the interesting parallels & room for relating to each other w akechi and sumi that the game itself badly failed to deliver on, they’re in some ways very similar and their interactions could be soooo so interesting if people would just. um. Do the work that the writers of the actual game didn’t </3 Also i just think royal trio should be funny in a way that caters to me specifically. Sigh. I have to write p5 fanfic someday to inflict my righteous and superior thoughts on the world. Basically: there should be more p5 fanfic and fanart about akechi & sumi or about akira akechi and sumi, but like, it should also be made for me specifically and agree with everything i think.

i just made a post about this a little while ago but literally from what i can tell ritsu kageyama </3 he needs. to be appreciated. was he such a well done character for nothing. was he so great and well written just to have brief appearances in silly comics and little else. please. Umm lets see is there anything else……… Surely, somewhere, in the history of my life, there have been many occasions where I have gone, “Why does this fandom never seem to talk about [X great thing from the piece of media]!!!!” That has to have happened millions of times. how to format your blog

the first thing i did was make a navigation and masterlist! navigation is basically a guide to your blog. it can include your dni + byf criteria or redirect ppl to various places you want them to check out (for example, carrd). masterlist is a compilation of all your writings so that every fic can be accessed easily. here is my navigation and my masterlist as an example.

how to make friends

join networks!!!! not only do they promote your work but also enable you to make friends by forming discord servers for member interactions. i made a lot of mutuals that way!! it’s always good to follow people you think are cool or you think you would vibe with :”) i used to hesitate to initiate conversations after becoming mutuals with other blogs but i realised that it’s not that deep LOL just go ahead and talk to people. reblog their fics with feedback. send asks. literally just interact :D

how to get exposure for your fics

use tags!! figure out which tags give the most traction and use them in your fics (obviously keeping in mind to not use the wrong tags LOL no one wants to see angst in a fluff tag). some tags i use are [insert group name] imagines / [insert group name] scenarios / [insert group name] fanfiction etc. as mentioned before, you can also join networks to get exposure for your fanfics!!

Welcome to tumblr 👋 I hope you find many Anne of Green Gables Fans :) (also sorry this has taken me half a week to answer)

I can give you some tips for tumblr, but I'm not sure if I'm the best person to ask how to post fic, since I'm not a writer. I only post gif sets or edits, and that is besides how to use tags a little different. You might want to ask someone that has more knowledge of fic posting than me. You also might get yourself an AO3 Account, since you probably get more exposure for your fics than just posting on here. You might also try looking into the #myfic or #my fic tag here on tumblr, it's a tag that a lot of fan fiction writers use.

And I'm pretty sure ppl still read Anne of Green Gables Fanfiction :) If you post Anne of Green Gables Fic, you can tag dailyshirbert if you have Anne Shirley, Gilbert Blythe or Shirbert in it.

As for general tips:

You should probably get yourself an Icon and Header. If you follow people and your blog is empty, ppl generally think you're a bot and some will probably block you. (I've seen that you've already rebloged a few posts, so ppl might not block you, but it's always better to seem like a person than a bot, if you change the generic tumblr header and icon) If you go into settings you can change everything from color to icon to header and title. As for Headers and Icons I've posted and rebloged a few AOGG ones on Dailyshirbert x x x if you would like those. You could also just use nature, animal, architecture, ppl or other pics, the best place for those would probably be unsplash.

Be sure to reblog and not just like posts. If you follow ppl and they see posts that they can relate to or see shows/films they like themselves, they're usually more likely to follow you than if your blog is empty. You'll also probably more easily get mutuals and make friends :) You can also just like posts, but many ppl just use them for saving post to queue for later.

You might also look into the #newbies #new users for other tips how to use tumblr. There are probably a lot of tips that are better explained than what I've just written lol.

In the end just have fun, post or like whatever you like :)

i mostly write hermitcraft, mindcrack, (third) life smp. i really don't watch that many people so it mostly stick to what i know (i came from mindcrack so, mostly them). i have no plans to expand to other mcyt people outside of those mentioned but i have written for these fandoms in the past under different name(s).

in regards to that as well, i am pretty picky on how i write this kinda thing. i dont indulge in any headcanons or theories other than my own and i dont really ship (in a traditional way ig). usually i imply that the world is a 'game' being played, but never actually write outside of the game (irl). i have a lot of my own "rules" for how it can work so, you can probably add it all up to get ideas on how my universe idea functions.

can write angsty things, hurt/comfort (may not define it the way some of yall do...), a little fluff perhaps- but i do like to be funny and complicated. i dont like super fluffy gooey cutesy stuff either, my 'fluff' just means i dont get super deep. sometimes i lean on humor, sometimes i dont... depends on the vibes. i like to get philosophical and meta at times too.

in terms of "ships" i dont really consider myself a shipper despite using some of those tags ... its mostly done for exposure purposes- you will likely see most of what i write between pairs is either vague, non-romantic, or just suggestive. i like to play into the humorous flirting they actually do, the suggestive jokes, or whatever else. i like to bring up ships in a joking manner (ex. situations that ppl jokingly interpret as suggestive when its not, playful comments about being a 'couple' etc). so when i normally write, its not on my mind in a typical way? but it can be suggestive enough i may tag it as such. i will take some requests along those lines, but i wont write pairs im not familiar with.

i may answer requests in drabbles. if i like it a lot, a full fic. i may answer the asks themselves, or i may not- it depends on how closely i feel i followed a suggestion!
