I've Got A Crush On You
A WMCJ!Jeremy x Reader Fic
Soundtrack: Crush On You- Lil' Kim
The last thing Jeremy wants to do right now is teach a team of 12-year-olds how to play basketball, but when he finds out that the nephew of his gym crush is on his team and practically a basketball prodigy, he'll do anything to get him as a client, especially if it means getting to spend more time with you.
Word Count:
Warnings: language, some shameless flirting and objectification of women

"Dude, you've gotta get a new car. This shits a piece of junk." Jeremy slammed the door of Kamal's pale blue 1995 Honda Accord, the squeak of the hinges piercing his ear drums. "Man, shut up", Kamal sucked in his teeth at Jeremy as he hopped out of the driver's seat, a puff of black exhaust billowing out behind the car. "This is all 'Ni and I can afford right now, and last time I checked, it got your ass around LA just fine. Not everyone can drive Daddy's Porsche. Oh wait." He clamped a hand sarcastically over his mouth with wide eyes, chuckling at the look of hurt on Jeremy's face.
The brunette was quick to straighten up. "First of all, it wasn't my daddy's Porsche, it was Tatiana's daddy's Porsche", Kamal gave him a lazy roll of his eyes as he threw his gym bag over his shoulder, "and second, we broke up months ago, why do you keep bringing it up?"
"Because you call me at least once a week, tellin' me how much you miss her!" Jeremy quickly closed the distance between him, his face in a scowl, voice just above a whisper. "I told you that in confidence, man."
Kamal matched his tone, "Well, I wish you wouldn't tell me nothing at all." He was there for his friend during his breakup, but what Jeremy considered a "healthy processing of emotions", Kamal called "oversharing".
"Besides, I've moved on." Jeremy puffed out his chest, trying to appear as confident as possible. "I've met someone else."
"Oh right. Ms. Flexible." Kamal teased in a sing-song voice as he rested a forearm on the hood of the car. Jeremy wouldn't shut up about this "baddie" (his words) that he saw at the gym he frequented, and you would think Halle Berry was showing up in spandex every week, the way he talked about her.
"Put some respect on her name, man. It's Y/N. I took-well I snuck into- one of her yoga classes at the gym, and she is-", he let out a whistle in awe, "I left her class feeling so Zen." Jeremy wasn't any more limber than before the class started, but he sure was in love. "So what now, you wanna "align her chakras" or something?" Jeremy quickly got the innuendo with a suggestive raise of Kamal's eyebrows.
Jeremy let out a sigh, shaking his head. "Why do I feel like you don't take the ancient and complex, spiritual practice known as yoga, seriously?" You could insult his taste in women, but you couldn't insult his lifestyle.
"Because I don't." Kamal let out a hearty chuckle, but Jeremy was stone faced, failing to find the humor in his joke. "Come on, man. We're gonna be late."
Tumblr media
Kamal didn't enjoy stepping foot in his old high school, the memories from his his fall from grace senior year forever in the front of his mind. The only reason he was spending his Saturday in this gym he used to call his second home, was to honor a promise he made to an old friend.
"So where are these prospects you talked about?" Jeremy set his NPR tote bag down the bleachers, surveying the inhabitants of the gym. "There's nothing but some old guys and some kids here, man."
"About that..." Kamal's breath hitched in his chest. He hadn't been forthcoming with Jeremy about what they were doing today, because he knew there was no way he'd come if he knew the truth.
"Kamal Allen?" Kamal turned to see his high school best friend Chris Williams walking up behind him, a bag of basketballs in his hands. "Chris, what's going on man?", Kamal asked as he pulled him into a hug. "How long has it been?" Kamal knew exactly how many years it'd been. There were times when he wanted to reach out Chris, but didn't out of shame and embarrassment for how he left things.
Chris chuckled, "Five years, I guess. How's Imani and the baby?"
"He's not a baby anymore. Drew just turned four."
"Damn, time really does fly I guess." Their was a painful silence between the old friends, so Jeremy stepped in. "I'm Jeremy. I've actually got my own business", he slipped a business card to Chris, who reluctantly took it, a blank look on his face, "I mold basketball players into the the next NBA star with my patented, well it will be eventually, shooting drills and techniques." He gave Chris his signature smile, the elevator pitch committed to memory. "I'm gonna need that back by the way. I only have the one."
"Okay", Chris handed Jeremy back the business card with a confused look on his face, Kamal silently signaled to ignore him. "Anyways, thanks for coming down today. I know these kids are a little misguided, but with some good coaching, especially from one of the best players in our school's history, they can get on the right track."
That caught Jeremy's interest. "I'm sorry, what did you say about kids?" He looked between Kamal and Chris, waiting for an explanation. "You said we were working with prospects headed for the draft, K."
"We are", Kamal avoided eye contact, "I just didn't say what year the draft was."
"Look, these kids are from some rough neighborhoods around L.A. They come here to feel safe, appreciated, and stay off the streets. I need some help getting them together though, I can't coach them on my own." Kamal gave Jeremy a pleading look but he wasn't budging.
"No! Look, that kid is picking his nose", the trio swung their heads to look around, catching a tall, scrawny boy wiping a booger on his mesh jersey, all three groaning in disgust, "and that kid looks like a newborn giraffe." Another kid was having trouble staying upright while he was trying to dribble the ball. "Besides, kids through off my energy. I can't do this." Jeremy collected his things, taking a quick swig of his green juice before throwing it in the bag. "I'll be in the car."
"He made it a couple of steps towards the door before Chris stopped him. "Did I mention the job pays?"
Tumblr media
"Alright, everybody round up." Jeremy took in the group of boys in front of him, and realized there wasn't an ounce of talent between them. "This is Kamal and Jeremy, they're gonna help out the team."
"Help?!" Kamal shot a look at a kid with a high-top fade reminiscent of the 80s, couldn't haven been more than five feet tall. "What's an old man and Bob Ross gonna do for this team?" The team snickered and laughed at the joke.
"Bob Ross? You're lucky I don't believe in confrontation or..." Jeremy warned, a scowl on his face.
"Or what? You'd paint me a pretty landscape?" The kid shot back, and Jeremy forgot he was a peaceful soul for a second.
"Alright, that's enough Isaiah", Chris cut in. "This is Isaiah Thompson, our point guard." Isaiah flexed, earning a chuckle from Kamal and Jeremy. "What's so funny? I average 15 points a game. They call me Swisher, because I always make that net swish", he held up his hand in the follow through position, his teammates cheering for him.
"Well "Swisher", they should call you Swiffer, because y'all get swept every game." Kamal's tone was laced with sarcasm. He didn't like going toe to toe with kids, but he was asking for it.
"That's rich coming from you", the tall nose picker stepped in, "last time I checked, you weren't exactly holding any records lately. My dad went to high school the same time you did, and he said you blew your scholarship and now you deliver packages." Kamal's jaw flexed. Somehow, the story of his misgivings had been passed down through generations. He stepped to the kid in a moment of anger, but Jeremy was quick to hold him back. "He isn't worth it." He whispered, and Kamal composed himself.
"That's enough! Now, Kamal is still a legend at this school, and we're gonna show him some respect." Chris let out a sigh. "If we want to be taken seriously at this year's tournament, we need to buckle down and get back to the fundamentals."
"What about white boy over there?" Isaiah pointed in Jeremy's direction. "You don't need to worry about that white boy", Kamal palmed a basketball as he spoke, "he's one of the best shooters I've seen."
"Not with those shoes", Isaiah snickered. Jeremy looked down and wiggled his toes in his custom barefoot shoes. "What's wrong with my shoes? Studies have shown it's better for your body to connect with the ground."
"Its giving...broke." Another kid chimed in from the back of the group, sending the boys into a roaring laughter.
"The only thing its giving is me upper cutting a little kid today!" Jeremy lunged at the kid, Kamal stepping in with a hard push to his chest, making him stumble back. "Watch out everyone, Bob Ross is angry!" Isaiah teased, bellowing with laughter.
"Remember what you said? He's not worth it." Kamal patted Jeremy's shoulder reassuringly, this time the reasonable one. "I'm good. I'm good." Jeremy said with a hard breath out of his nostrils.
The sound of the gym door screeching as it opened made both of them turned. "Dude, you've gotta be kidding me." Jeremy couldn't help the smile that crept on his face when he noticed who walked in.
Tumblr media
You were even prettier than Jeremy remembered, and he'd spent a lot of time the last couple of weeks thinking about you. You were out of your usual matching gym set, instead wearing scrubs, and he almost lost it at the thought that you were a nurse.
"Isn't that-?" Kamal pointed over to you, and Jeremy quickly slapped his hand down. "Yes it is. What the hell is she doing here?"
"She's probably here to provide medical assistance if you keep getting killed by these kid's jokes." Kamal let out a humorous breath as he looked over at Jeremy who was in a trance, tracking your every step as you made your way to the bleachers. "You think so? I'd like to get some CPR from those lips."
Kamal shoved his friend, shaking him out of his daydream. "No man. She doesn't even know you exist. One of these gremlins is probably her kid or something." He tossed the basketball to Jeremy, who caught it without dropping his gaze toward you. "Are you coming, man?"
"Yeah, yeah. One second." Jeremy dropped the ball and waved Kamal away. He didn't know if he was gonna get a second chance to have your undivided attention, so he was gonna take advantage of the moment.
You shot off a text and looked up just as Jeremy approached you, planting one of his feet on the bleachers, and leaning in uncomfortably close to you. He was cute, messy curls, a smile that could be used on a dentistry advertisement. His wardrobe, an old tie dye t-shirt that was ripped at the collar and hem paired with basketball shorts and those weird individual toe shoes, was a bit off putting, but you had to admire him being true to his own style.
"Sorry, this is a closed practice", Jeremy said with a smirk. "Oh, sorry! I had no idea", you uttered, quickly collecting your things. "I'm just kidding", Jeremy grabbed your arm gently to stop you from walking away. You glanced down at his hand, making him retract it. "I'm Jeremy. I've taken your yoga class over at Hurston, I'm a big fan." He extended a hand out to you, which you took hesitantly.
"Y/N. I didn't know I had fans", your brow knitted together with a smile, "thank you, I guess?" Jeremy chuckled as you tipped your head to the side. "Yeah, I've never seen anyone hold Warrior II like you do." God, he was rusty as hell at flirting after being with Tatiana so long. He could physically feel the charisma draining from his body. "So are you here waiting for your boyfriend or something?" Jeremy knocked his head back in the direction of some senior citizens going through the motions of a Tai Chi class in the corner.
"Oh no", you grimaced, "hell no, uh I usually pick my nephew up from practice, and I got off of work early, so I thought I'd save myself the drive to Inglewood and just wait until he's finished. He's the shy one over in the corner, Mattias." Jeremy noticed the kid with tight curls atop his head dribbling the ball through his legs. He was honestly impressed with his handling skills.
" Are you one of the coaches?" You noticed the basketball that Jeremy was nervously tossing between his hands as you talked.
"Yeah, you know kids are really my passion. Anything to help", Jeremy was lying through his teeth, but you didn't need to know that. "Children are the future, you know?"
You spent the next 15 minutes talking with Jeremy, and you could admit that he was as funny as he was cute. There was something undeniably charming about him, and the way he spoke so passionately about his business, even if it was a gimmicky juicing endeavor, was endearing.
"Hey, Richard Simmons", Isaiah yelled from across the court, "if you're done bombing over there, we need another person for 5 on 5!" Jeremy cursed under his breath with a roll of his eyes, before turning back to you with a smile. "I'd really love to talk more, but duty calls."
"Yeah, go, go, I understand." You said with a giggle as he jumped off the bleachers and jogged to back to the team. "How the hell does he even know who Richard Simmons is?", Jeremy mumbled under his breath.
Tumblr media
To say that the team needed work would be an understatement. Most of the players couldn't even catch the ball without jamming a finger or getting the wind knocked out of them, and dribbling without a travel call was a pipe dream at this point. They could count on one hand the number of shots that made it into the basket during layups. The only player with a little bit of natural talent was Mattias. In fact, he could probably play on JV at his age, and both Kamal and Jeremy noticed how flawless his shot was.
"Are you seeing this?", Kamal whispered to Jeremy, who nodded without needing any other context. "He's good. For 12, he's great. He's Y/N's nephew." Jeremy looked back at you. You were intently watching the team play, and gave Jeremy a small wave, feeling your stomach flip as he returned one back to you. "What's up with that?" Even Kamal could tell there was a spark between the two of you. "All I know man, is when I look at her, my stomach drops into my ass." Jeremy's voice cracked as he spoke.
"Is that a good thing?", Kamal asked with a slightly disgusted face. Jeremy looked just as confused as he did. "I don't know man. I don't know." They both jumped as Chris blew the whistle, the sound echoing through the gym. "Let's get one more scrimmage in before we go home."
"Mattias, take point." Kamal tossed the timid kid the ball, but he caught it with ease. "I'm point guard." Isaiah complained, "Matti's too scared to even shoot the ball."
"No I'm not!", Matti threw back with a frown on his face. "Yes you are. Last game you choked, we could've won!" Isaiah was ever the instigator. "Y'all lost that game by 20." Kamal retorted, waving the paper schedule he had in his hand in the air.
"Yeah, but we could have lost by 18 instead."
Kamal sighed. "It doesn't matter, I'm the coach, and I say Mattias is running point. Now run the play." It ran more like a traffic jam than the play Kamal drew up for them to run, and it was only a matter of seconds before one of the kids missed the pass and the ball went flying into the bleachers.
"Mattias, you need to look where you're passing. Make sure you make eye contact with your teammate before you pass." Kamal ran through the motions before passing the ball back. "Jer, get on the wing." When he didn't move, Kamal looked over to see that Jeremy was practically drooling over you from afar, his back completely turned away from the basket. "Jeremy!"
Hearing his name called a second time caught his attention. "Sorry, man. She's just so beautiful."
"Man, get on the wing", Kamal growled. Jeremy jogged over his spot, but he couldn't take his eyes off you. He wondered what you smelled like, what kind of perfume you wore, what you dreamt about at night. He felt the ball whoosh past his head, but it couldn't tear his attention away from you.
He was so zoned in on you, in fact, he didn't realize the next basketball pass hit him so hard in the head, it knocked him out cold, his body falling to the ground.
Tumblr media
"Jeremy. Jeremy, can you hear me?"
Jeremy's eyelashes fluttered rapidly as he came to, and while he couldn't see clearly, he could make out blurry figures hovering over him, muffled voices coming in and out. The first voice to come in clearly was a woman's voice.
"Jeremy, if you can here me, please squeeze my hand." The voice was soft and sweet, like something out of one of his dreams. He gently squeezed the silky soft hand in his grasp, allowing his eyelids to slowly open. "Is this heaven?" He could make out your soft silhouette as the lights got brighter around his head.
You let out a quiet giggle as you moved out of the way so Kamal could check on his friend. When Jeremy's vision was fully returned, he groaned at the sight of Kamal's face in front of his. "No man, this is Compton, not Heaven." He helped Jeremy sit up, and you handed him an ice pack for the ever growing bump on his temple.
"Are you okay?", you gave him a sympathetic smile with a pat on the shoulder. You could tell he was embarrassed, his cheeks and neck a bright pink.
"You should have seen it, the ball hit you in the head, and you went flying. Knocked out cold!", Isaiah exclaimed with a laugh.
"Shut up", Jeremy mumbled, letting out a groan as the pain from the impact finally hit him; his face felt like one giant oncoming bruise. You pulled out the pen light you had in your scrub pocket. "Can you follow the light for me?" Jeremy squinted as you shined the bright light in his eyes but his pupils were receptive. "Well, I don't think you have a concussion, but you should definitely take it easy for the next couple of days."
"Thanks, I'm glad you were here." Jeremy gave you a small smile. "Sorry you had to come to my rescue."
"Don't worry, it comes with the territory." You showed him your nursing badge that was still clipped to your collar. "Here, hand me your phone." Jeremy pulled his phone out of his bag and handed it to you. You put your phone number in his contacts. "Call me if any of your symptoms get worse, and if you start to smell toast, call an ambulance." You gave him one last smile before heading out of the gym with Mattias.
"Wait, so you get a ball to the head, and you still managed to get Ms. Flexible's number?" Kamal playfully shoved Jeremy in the arm. "She gave it to me for emergencies, not to ask her out on a date." Jeremy wanted nothing more then to go on a date with you, but he didn't want to exploit your kindness either.
"Trust me man, I saw you drooling over her. This is definitely an emergency."
Tumblr media
That night, Jeremy wore a path in his carpet pacing back and forth in his apartment. He was trying anything to calm his nerves: herbal tea, meditation, even Ashwaganda, but that just made him horny and made it more difficult to hold off on calling you. Kamal wasn't any help either, edging him on as they drove back to their side of town.
He stared at your number in his phone contacts for so long, he had them committed to memory. Maybe he could just pretend that his symptoms had gotten worse. Yeah, maybe he did have a concussion, and while he was sure you'd advise him to go to the doctor, it would at least give him an in.
Fuck it, he was gonna call you.
The phone rang four times before you picked up, the sound of the TV in the background.
"Hello?"
Jeremy cleared his throat, feeling it go dry. The first word came out in a croak. "Hello, this is Jeremy. From earlier today. You know the one that got hit with the basketball?"
You stifled a laugh as you straightened up on your couch. "Jeremy, yeah. Are you okay? How's your head?" You'd been thinking about him all day, hoping that you'd get to see him again, but you honestly weren't expecting to hear from him that night.
"Its okay. Still a little dizzy when I stand up too quickly, but I took your advice and I've been taking it easy. I actually made one of my recovery smoothies tonight, and I can swear its helping." He rubbed the back of his neck nervously, waiting for you to speak.
"That's good, I'm glad you're doing okay." You allowed a pause, not really sure what he wanted. "Is there something else you wanted to talk about?"
It was now or never. You were the first person after Tatiana that he actually saw as more as a rebound hookup. He wanted to do this right.
"Actually, I was wondering if I could take you out to dinner tomorrow?" He immediately began to panic as soon as the words came out of his mouth. "I've know this vegan restaurant that has farm to table ingredients." He slapped a hand to his forehead in embarrassment. Good job, Jeremy. If she didn't think you were a weirdo before, he definitely did now.
He perked up as you began to speak. "That actually sounds really nice. I would love to go to dinner with you, Jeremy."
"One second." Jeremy punched the mute button so you wouldn't hear him run around his apartment in excitement, punching the air. He plopped back down on his couch, taking a second to compose himself and catch his breath before he pressed unmute. "Sounds good. 8'o'clock?"
"That's perfect. See you tomorrow."
Jeremy hung up his phone, and placed it on the coffee table as reality started to set in. This was the first date he was going on in five years. He really needed it to go well.
He needed it to go fuckin' perfect.

carl grimes headcannons because we lack of anything for him and i can (most, if not all, are just non-apocalypse headcannons):
- autistic (we are starting off strong here)
- vocally stims vines sometimes (“road work ahead? uh yeah i sure hope it does”, “look at all those chickens”, “i wanna be a cowboy baby”) (he does that last one in front of rick a lot and rick never understands it’s from vine)
- judith: “daddy?”
- carl: “DO I LOOK LIKE-?”
- glenn taught him a lot of stupid jokes like “ligma” and “joe mama” (the usual college kid jokes)
- would use the “joe mama” joke on judith a lot
- judith would retaliate with ligma jokes (“we have the same mom idiot”)
- no one knows where she learnt that one
- loved science as a kid
- switched between wanting to become a cop like rick or an astronomer
- thought about being a palaeontologist but couldn’t see himself doing it for the rest of his life
- didn’t have a lot of friends but was still liked by other kids anyways (doesn’t mean he’s popular, people are just neutral about him)
- is on a swim team
- just likes swimming in general
- MOMMA’S BOY!!!!!
- then lori died so he made that transition over to his dad…yeah
- keeps his hair long and went through that teenage grunge phase
- listens to bands like oasis, los campensinos, nirvana, foo fighters, etc etc
- his parents music taste would sneak in sometimes tho like fleetwood mac, abba (lori) bob dylan, johnny cash (rick), any 80’s songs and old country (below the 70’s)
- because of that grunge phase he’d 100% play the electric guitar
- his grandpa taught him a bit of acoustic whenever they’d visit
- he plays the acoustic sometimes for judith, or anyone in his family who asks, but mainly judith
- plays more chill songs like something you’d find in the ‘life is strange’ soundtrack (bright eyes, angus and julia stone, iron & wine) (most of those are from enid’s music taste)
- rick and michonne let him use the garage but it still drives them up the walls when he jams out with friends
- doesn’t understand the superbowl but because his dad likes it he makes an effort to watch it with him because no one else will
- jump scares any unsuspecting victim when they turn the corner of a wall
- to calm down whenever he’s stressed/overwhelmed/overstimulated he’ll either go swimming or ask his grandparents to come over (they own a farm) to ride some horses
- allergic to peanuts (not pecans because they had to eat some when they met Gabriel so)
- hates anything deep fried except for fish
- terrible in any form of skating
- roller skating? keeps slamming into the wall
- ice skating? uses those kid-balance-crutches-thingys
- he just has terrible coordination
- obviously gets worse when he looses his eye
- he’s good at bowling tho
- even tho he’s a moody teenager he’s EXTREMELY kind
- switches from sciences to arts and english in high school
- started making little family portraits drawings
- can actually understand old english/shakespeare
- makes blanket forts with judith 24/7
- actually does have a southern accent it’s just more like loris (less noticeable than ricks)
- would 100% watch minecraft youtubers
- bisexual little shit (duh)
- when he was a kid he didn’t have a fear of needles but as he grew up he just DESPISED them like shaking screaming crying and throwing up type deal
- hums a lot to judith, usually the song “baby mine”
- snapchat user
- embarrassingly so. especially when he uses the filters
- has a diary and calls it a diary not a journal
- drops trauma like it’s nothing, like a silly joke (this is basically canon but i’ll still include it in)
- headphones on 24/7 might as well be glued to his head (his ears are too small for earphones and he likes soundproof headphones anyways)
- an entire shelf in his closet is just for comics (and some comics are thin so you can imagine how many he has)
- likes reading other things too instead of just comics
- refuses to wear elastics/tie his hair up even if it gets in his way a lot
- let’s judith put silly hairclips in it
- sometimes forgets to take them out when he gets to school but he doesn’t care much
- would watch: the office, brooklyn nine-nine, the breakfast club & moral orel

[Test Poll] Format #3
This is to test what format would be best for the poll posts during the tournament. The media featured won’t be part of the tournament. They’re just shows I recently watched (and are not necessarily underrated), but please vote as if this were the actual tournament. (I wrote some serious propaganda just to make this test realistic, so pleeease.) I will gather some feedback later. You may also leave feedback in the replies of this post.

Title: Blue Lock / ブルーロック
Genres: Sports, shounen
Trigger warnings: none
Summary
After reflecting on the current state of Japanese soccer, the Japanese Football Association decides to hire the enigmatic and eccentric coach Jinpachi Ego to achieve their dream of winning the World Cup. Believing that Japan has lacked an egoistic striker hungry for goals, Ego initiates the Blue Lock—a prison-like facility where three hundred talented strikers from high schools all over Japan are isolated and pitted against each other. The sole survivor of Blue Lock will earn the right to become the national team’s striker, and those who are defeated shall be banned from joining the team forever.
Selected to join this risky project is Isagi Yoichi, a striker who failed to bring his high school soccer team to the national tournament. After choosing to pass to a teammate who missed instead of scoring on his own, he could not help but wonder if the results would have been different had he been more selfish. Using this golden opportunity given by the Blue Lock Project, Isagi aims to clear his doubts and chase his ultimate desire—to become the greatest striker in the world and lead Japan to World Cup glory.
(taken from MAL)
Propaganda
It’s different from all other sports anime I’ve watched before in that there is no “power of friendship” and “teamwork makes the dream work” bullshit. Blue Lock only cares about one thing, and that is winning. All those inspirational/comforting messages like “at least we had fun together” are dismissed to mere excuses right from the first episode.
Each episode is also full of hype, and there is no telling what will happen next. It subverts a lot of sports anime tropes, especially in the show’s second arc. I also love how it doesn’t follow typical sports anime arcs. They’re technically not in high school, so we don’t have “Nationals” or special training episodes. Just adrenaline-filled matches all the way through—not official matches, but it sure feels like it because of how high the stakes are (if you lose, your dreams are dead).
I especially enjoy seeing Isagi turn into something like a villain once the game starts. He’s so nice and polite off the field, but on the field he’s everybody’s nightmare. It’s also really refreshing to have a shounen protag revel in the act of breaking other people’s dreams.
But hype aside, it also does not lack on the emotional aspect. Characters are forced to break through their limits and let go of what’s important to them in order to move forward. That important thing could be a long-standing belief, an old dream, or even a friend. And the OST of this show really helps drive home the messages it sends. Some scenes would literally have orchestra music playing in the background, and each plot-relevant character also gets their own cool character soundtrack
Lastly, like all other shounen sports anime, expect some homoerotic stuff. You don’t even have to be a shipper to notice it. It’s really obvious in the second arc.

#C2: Depressed genius detective pulled out of slump by naive police officer
(Admin: I could not find a good trailer on youtube with english subs and none of the audio cut out, so I decided to edit the subs in myself…)
Title: Deranged Detective / Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductions/ Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective / Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri / 鴨乃橋ロンの禁断推理
Genres: Comedy, mystery
Trigger Warnings: Just typical tw’s for a crime show… blood. murder, dead bodies, etc., but nothing extreme
Summary
Despite lacking the skills suited for his role on the Metropolitan Police Department investigative team, Isshiki Totomaru wants to solve murders and help people. Following the advice of one of his seniors, he ventures out to enlist the aid of the reclusive Kamonohashi Ron. Five years ago, Ron was the most promising detective from the illustrious Detective Training Academy Blue; yet for reasons unknown to the public, he sank into obscurity.
Totomaru expects a well-dressed, composed man; but what he gets is a messy-haired and uninhibited eccentric. After years in solitude, Ron barely resembles his former self and he refuses to even hear out the detective. However, as quickly as Ron rebuffs, he flips on a dime and dives headfirst into the current serial murder case.
The true reason Ron withdrew from the detective world was not from lack of desire, but rather from something out of his control—and Totomaru might just be the key for his return to his former calling. Together, the wide-eyed officer and deranged detective tackle each mystery that comes their way.
Propaganda
The anime is currently airing with only a few episodes out as of this moment, so my propaganda will be based more on the manga (which is by Akira Amano, the same person who made Katekyo Hitman Reborn).
The first few eps/chapters of Deranged Detective tackles some basic crimes, but later it will get more complex. Episode formulas are like that in Detective Conan, but they’re made more enjoyable with Ron’s eccentricity and the well-balanced comedy.
The plot is nothing mind-blowing, but it’s definitely solid and well-executed. We have this recluse detective who wants to get back to doing detective work, but then we find out that he’s not supposed to be playing detective. It would literally cost him his life if caught in the act. So now we have some tension as well as an overarching mystery—who wants Ron dead and why?
But Deranged Detective isn’t just about the mystery. It’s also about Ron and Toto. It’s about how Ron, who was depressed for five years, regains his life because of Toto. And it’s how Toto will always believe in him despite all doubts against him. Can’t really blame Ron for being so gay for him.
The animation is clean, and the OST is also good. The opening song is by the same band that made the iconic Kekkai Sensen ending song.
If you enjoy gay detectives, you should definitely check this out.

Hello! Today marks the release of a new musical project I've been working on for the past month or so: Sleep Buddy! Ambient music to help you focus or just get some sleep.
Available now on Spotify and Apple Music!
You can read more about where the project came from below:
After dropping out of college, joining a band, moving in with the band, watching the band fall apart, and then subsequently finding myself with an increasing amount of pent-up musically creative energy, I decided I wanted to make something of my own.
I was also about five years deep into a stint of severe insomnia — from my first year of high school onward I generally only slept about an hour or two each night. After my friends would fall asleep and there was nobody left awake to play games with or text or talk to on the phone, I'd spend the quietest hours of my evenings teaching myself how to produce music.
The blend of these two issues manifested itself into a love of producing and listening to ambient music, and I set out with the goal of creating an album that would help me fall asleep each night. It was freeing to break away from the verse-chorus song structure I'd become so acclimated to, allowing myself to let long droning synths reverberate for hours into the night or searching for field recordings of windy plains or rainy farmhouses to see how I could incorporate the sounds of nature into my compositions. I'd write a song, load it onto my iPod, hop into my car, and cruise around empty New Jersey streets to hear how it worked as a soundtrack for the drive. In the span of about three weeks, I'd finished and released my first solo album under the artist name Boqeh: Halcyon.
Halcyon saw the beginning of a new habit: Almost every single day I'd open up my laptop and throw some nice sounding synths and chords together and let them loop endlessly while I worked on other tasks. Usually these project files would get deleted at the end of the day, but every once in a while they'd be saved and fleshed out into a full track for a hypothetical future album release. My next few ambient albums as Boqeh all followed that same songwriting process, but I eventually got more into the habit of deleting files than saving them. Slowly but surely, I stopped releasing music altogether as my career and other creative endeavors took center stage in my life.
Although I grew into the habit of deleting my daily project files, I never kicked the habit of starting a new one almost every morning. In 2018 while discussing the rise of ten-hour relaxation YouTube videos and 24/7 lofi hip-hop beats streams with a friend, I wondered aloud why I wasn't using the huge volume of music I was creating and disposing of daily to do something similar.
It's taken ten years since the release of Halcyon for me to feel confident enough to make it happen, but I'm finally done erasing the work I create.
Enter Sleep Buddy.
youtube
Sleep Buddy is both a new project and revitalization of the intention behind Halcyon — albums of carefully crafted and original ambient music with the goal of helping listeners fall asleep or relax while working on other tasks. Today marks the release of the first album: Intro.
Intro is a thesis statement. Available as a ten hour YouTube video (of course), on Bandcamp, or through your favorite streaming service like Apple Music or Spotify, it contains just under two hours of original ambient music covering a wide variety of ideas I plan on drilling further into for future releases. Almost the entirety of the album was written and produced over three weeks in January of this year, and in the time it has taken to distribute Intro to music platforms, I have already finished a followup for release sometime next month. If all goes well, expect a new Sleep Buddy release monthly in 2023.
In the meantime I hope you'll give this first album a listen, and if you do I hope it helps you relax.
You deserve it.

Any favorite Car Games™ of yours? Forza, GT, Beam, Automation, etc.?
Tumblr media
Auto/Beam are particular favorites of mine and also i have 10,000 hours logged between them
Since I wasn't a spoiled bitch, I can literally just list all the car games I had in my childhood. All for PC that is, because since I wasn't a spoiled bitch I didn't have a console. Okay actually there was NFS Carbon: Own The City and Herbie for DS but that was it. We were saying.
Colin McRae Rally 04 You've no idea what pain I brought to those poor little cars. Frequently I got to the end of one of those 2/4m stages with the car dying every 10/15 seconds. Such a good game. It also ran without having to insert its CD, which was very cool at the time, and very useful when I was gaming on the go on Father's Dell. idk if I also played it on his Toshiba but no such memory surfaces. Man I loved Father's Toshiba. I should try to retrofit it with new internals sometime.
Colin McRae Rally 2005 Liked that one too, but memories are hazier since at one point I was no longer able to play it for reasons I cannot recall so I just moved to 04 instead.
Test Drive Unlimited Got it recommended and didn't like it much. In hindsight it was an absolutely gorgeous game structure, but I just didn't care because I didn't like the way the cars drove. It collected dust.
Race Driver GRID For a long while, by far the latest racing game I ever had. Enjoyed it quite a lot! I even submitted an absolutely incredible gameplay clip to FailRace, though unfortunately it never did get featured. Bullshit, I say. And yes, for the longest time, I think until like 2020?, I had one single game that was younger than '06. See the part about not being a spoiled bitch. <-absolutely green with envy
GT Legends Played it a little during my youth, then tried to reinstall it years later to see if it lived up to my few memories of it and if I could get more out of it then by being less of a stupid baby. It corrupted the entire operating system and made the computer unable to start. A solid "no" to both.
And of course, who could forget, the Need For Speed series! In their chronological order:
Need For Speed Underground In my early childhood I didn't play it much, because I was still using the auto gearbox like a PLEB and you couldn't map controls in that game so when I got to the first drag race I couldn't figure out where the shift up key was nor could find it or remap it in settings and just abandoned the game. It should be noted as a child I was, in absolute, cosmically stupid. Later on I did pick it back up and see it to completion, loving it throughout (except for the part where you unlock the final boss' Civic you were neck and neck with on an R34 Skyline GT-R and they tell you it was stock. Sure honey now if you wait how did this bag of Fuck Off get here?). If only it had free roam, more races, a more varied environment, refillable NOS, the ability to have different cars simultaneously, and you get where I'm going with this don't you.
Need For Speed Underground 2 Man I loved this game since I started playing it at some ridiculously low age and I never stopped loving it and I was right throughout. I love love LOVE this game. I know the map by heart, the soundtrack by heart, the circuits by heart, the upgrades by heart, the starter cars specs by heart, you have no idea. This has been my childhood. This is by far and away the one I played and loved the most, even though due to the needlessly convoluted and completely obscure progression mechanics that childhood never saw me finish it - although I guess that helped me keep playing it, as when I got stuck with no way to progress further I'd just start from scratch again with no clue what to fix. I was able to pick it back up and finish it later on in life, through middle/high school, and later on still through the power of mods I squeezed and crushed and stretched that game like Tumblr did with Danny Phantom episodes. I modded it so much it crashed every ten minutes. I ran it off an iPod Nano. I messed the cars up so bad I'd essentially created new game modes. I managed to make a good desktop computer over a decade younger than the game itself run it at seconds per frame just by editing four wheel coordinates. And now you spoiled bitches can download it for free on somewhere like MyAbandonware (dot com, of course) and give it a try. And I can't recommend it enough. Literally; because if I could, friend of the blog @demoness-one would have done so by now >:(
Need For Speed Most Wanted The best Need For Speed game of all time, according to everyone. Everyone but me. I mean, I did go through it, but it looks bleak, the cars just seem to want to bounce from wall to wall, and I just don't like police chases - it's a game, why would I want a limited number of attempts? Also, they madly stressed me out, so, and here begins a funny story, I abandoned it when unable to rack up enough chase points to challenge the final boss. I picked it back up a while later to find out if it was just me being a baby, and no, I still didn't like it - but luckily I'd learned of the bug where if you park on a certain railing all the cop cars will pile up under you but never bust you, and decided to actually finish what I'd started so long before. Those points racked up, I worked myself through the good hour of bullshit unfairness of the duel with Razor (I have to win every race to win but he can win any race to win? Understandable. hey the bag of Fuck Off's back), even quitting the whole shebang three races in over a wrong input and having to start again, until, after hours of unsaveable progress, I finally was able to win the last race. And did you know that after that, just when you think you're done, you get the biggest, most intense car chase of the whole game? :) Well, I sure didn't, because right after I finished the race the game crashed and I had to do all those five races over again. :) And then I did that and it crashed again and I uninstalled the game and watched the ending on YouTube. :)
Need For Speed Carbon The takes get hotter still: I like this one more than MW. The colors got fixed, I liked the handling better (while obviously not as good as the mighty Underground 2 OF COURSE), drifting, my favorite race mode, replaced drag racing, my least favorite*, and yes, the car chases, and I may even like the soundtrack better? Nah, that's bull, I don't remember much of those two soundtracks at all off the top of my head. But I saw this one to the end and enjoyed it very much. *For the unaware, in every NFS game I played in my childhood, drag races did not give you steering control - to avoid traffic or obstacles, you tapped the arrow keys and the car would switch lanes. So you told the car to move out the way and if it did, good, if it instead took too long and/or had an unappealable loss of control and crashed automatically terminating your race, too bad.
There were also a couple other games there's not much to say about (Ford Streetracing, loved it, V-Rally 3, I think it had some issues and I never did play it, London Racer World Challenge, I recall nothing)... and now we move on to the car games I played since.
Assetto Corsa I've only ever dabbled in it a couple of times, but it's very fun when it works. My hardware is limiting on this front and I think I've some config issues, but when I'll have time to solve those I will be very glad to jump into it - especially because I really love driving simulators. Where with other games you kind of need some external validation of how hard it was to win with the tools the computer gave you -because it's not inherently cool that you beat a game, it was made to be beaten from the start- proper simulators just chuck you into an experience where no accommodation has been made for you (short of the damage level set, that is) and whatever you manage in it is your own accomplishment, not something the game let you accomplish. And on that note...
Richard Burns Rally This game is absolutely fucking incredible. "It's a 2004 game, how engaging a driving experience can it be" enough to make many still call it the best rally simulator out there and one of the best driving simulators period. Enough to motivate thousands of people to keep making a plethora of mods for it every day (which i've never been able to make work lol). Enough to make me seriously recommend buying yourself a wheel with force feedback* just to play this abandonware game (because using anything but a wheel for it is like using anything but a spoon for soup). And to be clear, this game is HARD. It just gives you a brief but extremely good rundown of how to master the driving basics and then have fun around rally stages where, again, the road has not been widened for you, the ditches not been filled, the car has not been programmed not to roll over too easily… essentially, the main way in which they are substantially easier than driving them IRL is the luxury of trial and error. So when, through however many days of trial and error it'll take you, you finally glide through those bumps smoothly enough to wipe the red off that time delta, this commercial flop the dozen-people-team from the Animaniacs GBA game developed when RAM was measured in megabytes becomes the most exhausting, intense, rewarding experience a computer has ever provided me. And a computer has gotten me laid. *I recommend the Logitech G25s, found for well under a dub, and the G27s, a small revision of the G25 with more buttons and a better shifter usually found for not much more (I found mine for 80!). They're from 2004 and 2010 respectively, and the wheel Logitech sells today is just a G27 with more buttons which says it all about how good a budget wheel it is.
TrackMania Nations Forever I hate this game, I fucking despise this game. "Alright, it's the same game we made two years ago with new tracks, and it has no story, opponents, traffic, cutscenes, or really any dynamic beyond checkpoints, a finish and a timer. But even still, there are so many fun mechanics to master anyway, like jump distance control, which you hopefully figure out you have because it's not like there is any tutorial to tell you! Or drifting, which is necessary to beat the best time in one of the last levels - you do it by pressing brake, accelerator and a steering direction simultaneously. Hope you randomly decide to do it autonomously to see what happens and find out that can be faster! And if you don't have a specialized keyboard with more than the normal 2 key rollover, hopefully something possessed you to map one of those controls to a completely different keyboard zone than all the others, or pressing all three will make only two register and you never will find this out! But at least not making any tutorials or the likes and keeping the interface absolute garbage allowed us to have the driving on absolute lock! Well, except for that bug where if you take the fastest line through a corner your car may decide to ragdoll and fuck your run. Oh and also the one where if you land a jump on all four wheels you may randomly lose your speed. Good luck!" I now get why they hate French people. Unfortunately, as for a lot of destructive hatred of mine, it manifests in yet more determination to conquer the little shit. I've gotten author times on every single one of the tracks except the last one, not because it's eight times longer than by far the second longest at an entire goddamn hour but because I wanted an effort that lengthy to be a special occasion and that never manifested. ...Maybe a stream?
Actually, I visited MyAbandonware to check the NFSU2 page and apparently they include a mod that puts the uncensored edits of the songs in the soundtrack and honestly I hella want to play it again just to hear that, so that could also be a cool stream idea if it wasn't a criminal deed to play copyrighted music on stream (I've not kept up with that whole mess, can you do it if you don't keep a VOD?). Or I could stream myself playing Richard Burns Rally and make you go "oh this is HARD hard".
Links in blue are posts of mine about the topic in question - if you liked this post, you might like those!

✨️When you get this ask you have to put 5 songs you listen to, post it, then send this ask to 10 of your favorite followers (positive vibes are cool)🎶✨️
Hello there friend! @mashumaru also sent me this very lovely ask and I keep failing to answer that one so I hope it’s okay that I do a 2 for 1 (1 for 2?…. whatever).
1. Barrel of a Gun by Guster. Guster was my high school obsession. I’ve seen them live 4 times, including once convincing my friends to drive 2+ hours to go to a free show in a parking lot with me. This song features percussion played on a typewriter and I love it.
2. Learning to Fly by Tom Petty. Tom Petty is like ultimate comfort music for me and this song is one of my faves.
3. The Origin of Love from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The lyrics are so good, it’s so beautiful. My only fic to use a song lyric for a title is from this: Lonely Two-Legged Creatures. Wait, I have to evangelize about this a little. Please watch this:
youtube
Sandman people, that’s John Cameron Mitchell looking absolutely stunning and giving adolescent Miro Feelings that it would take me a long time to understand.
4. Wait for Me from Hadestown. I got to see Hadestown this year after being obsessed with the soundtrack for a while, and it broke my brain it was so good. So now in addition to being a phenomenal song, I have this incredible memory of the show when I listen to it.
5. Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns N’ Roses. Surfski and I walked down the aisle to a piano version of this at our wedding.
Thank you both for the asks! ❤️❤️

Hello,
In this post, I want to talk about one of my favorite games from childhood, which is Heroes of Might and Magic III. Or as everybody calls it, Heroes 3. This game is one of those games that you play to rewind down after coming from work/school.
So, what's it about? It's a strategic type of game where you play as one of the selected factions and heroes, and the goal is to defeat all the other factions in the game, whether it's singleplayer or multiplayer. The game takes place on a made up map, and you explore, collect stuff and gain skills for your heroes to battle monsters and other heroes. You can play against CPUs or against other players, including 2 or more players playing on one PC.
I got introduced to this game when I was like, 9 or 10 years old. One friend from that time introduced me to this game, and I immediately got hooked up on it. I liked exploring around the map and collecting gold and goods and just expand the towns with units of soldiers and other useful stuff. And I played it passively, meaning that I wasn't playing against CPUs and other players. I actually played against myself. I selected as many heroes to play as I wanted (8 is max), and I just played and explored, and when a battle came, it would just be around witnessing with whom did I make more progress with. It's weird, I know. In truth, I was a bit afraid of playing against CPUs, no matter the difficulty. Once, I lost town to a CPU, and it also scared me to see them move after I had finished my turn. It's why I kept to playing on my own. It was actually pretty good, relaxing if I might say. That was before I started playing Minecraft when Heroes 3 was the game I played after coming home from school.
I was gonna play on revisiting this game now as an adult, but unfortunately, the hard drive where Heroes 3 was installed, stopped working, and I lost it. Too bad. Right now, the game came out as a HD version, and there have been some contradictions from other people, saying that they don't like the HD version. From the shots I saw online, it actually looks good, but it's weird seeing all the heroes with clear faces. There have also added a few keyboard shortcuts (if there weren't any in original version).
Now, in the beginning, I started out with the main town being Conflux (the one with elemental units of fighters like fire elementals water elementals and more). I liked playing as Conflux, I believe it was in an expansion version and not in original game. But the one town I often liked to play as (I don't know if it's because of the units or the entire theme of it) is Dungeon. This is an underworld town populated mostly by fighters from Greek mythology, such as meduzas, minotaurs and manticores. Then another one of my favorite towns, for which I really love the entire theme as well, is Rampart. Rampart is a mixture of medieval japan and Shire. The fighters are dwarves, elves, pegasuses, etc. The worst one, probably because it has a sad soundtrack playing in the background, is Necropolis. Necropolis is a graveyard town with all the dead fighters like skeletons, witches and vampires. The only strong unit there are skeletons, who are equiped with swords, and they do a lot of damage if they have a high number of points. I also don't like Stronghold. It's like LOTR town populated by all the bad guys, with fighters like goblins, orcs and ogres. I'm gonna say that, according to some youtube videos and online chats, that people like Castle a lot. It's the most normal town populated by human fighters like pikemen, archers, and some 'not' normal fighters like angels and griffins.
Searching through YouTube, I wanted to find some gameplays to watch while falling asleep, but there aren't many. Only a few longplay videos made by 2 or 3 youtubers. I feel like this game deserves more attention, even now it wakes up nostalgia in some gamers, me included. Actually, this game is as old as me.
Let me know what you think about Heroes of Might and Magic III.

Some of my Wonder-Red headcanons because for some reason I've never made a post about my Red headcanons:
He definitely drives with both hands on the wheel at all times and his back straight, but I don't think he has a car and hasn't had one for his entire life. He probably graduated high school, moved to Blossom City for college, never left, and now just takes public transport to get around. He hasn't driven a car since he got his license.
He can't stand medical stuff and gets nauseated at the sight of surgery being performed. He can still go to the doctor just fine, but as soon as guts are being poked at and things are cut open, he's gotta tune-out.
He stutters trying to say certain "dirty words" in any context outside an educational one. They make him uncomfortable. He very carefully tip-toes around saying words pertaining to bathroom or sex related subjects. Blue and Green figured this out one day and tried to harass Red into saying words an immature person would find funny. Red did not fall for it, and was not amused.
He never uses profanity. He never developed the habit and decided it would be a good thing to maintain because he works with children.
He is a Good Christian Boy™. Probably goes to church and partakes in a lot of local activities like charities and fundraisers. I like to think he regularly chaperones a group of church-going kids, doing things like Christmas caroling and playing at the park.
Ever since the death of his father, he has had consistent problems with nightmares. He started doing crossword puzzles before bed to relax and get his mind off things. It helps prevent nightmares.
While Red takes good care of himself and his health, he is not a health nut. I get this idea from the illustrations for the difficulty settings where he can be seen eating a doughnut and also a slice of pizza. I like to think he'd be a scrawny little nerd, but he took up working out as a means to cope with his painful emotions.
He enjoys soundtracks to musicals and stage shows. He was raised in part by Commander Nelson, whose hobby is theater, so I can imagine Red probably was exposed to all sorts of performing arts. I like to think that when Red feels particularly bubbly, he sings songs from his favorite musicals, and if Nelson is around, they sing together.

CHALLENGE
Saw someone from 20-God damn-12 [2012] doing this challenge just a minute ago, and I was looking for inspiration so here we go...
1. Shuffle your music playlist
2. Using the duration of the song that plays as your time constraint, write a drabble centred around the song's theme.
3. Repeat this for ten more drabbles (in my case with the same character: Eddie Munson/m!reader)
Ok, here we go!!! [I RECCOMEND LISTENING TO THE SONGS WHILST READING!!] ~~
"Money", The Drums
Munson, post graduation, is dating Y/n and wants to desperately give something material to him rather than physical affection, but he's too broke.
•Eddie and his newly formed band go around Hawkins trying to make it big in the music industry whilst Y/n supports and tags along for the ride
•Yet Eddie feels as though he isn't giving enough to his partner and their whole relationship, Y/n being the one earning a real living for them, and so he wants to atleast surprise him with a little something
•Maybe a road trip to some place serene, or perhaps get Y/n his own first motorbike
•Oh wait, Munson himself doesn't even own a vehicle, that's terrific
•With his band not rocketing into fame, as he hoped, and Y/n's work not being the most terrific, they both return home frequently a little down and struggling to feel excited for anything
•Eddie wishes to change that.
•And so here he is with his band trying to write a bunch of original singles and drive their careers into the world, rather than performing small gigs of other people's songs at the local bingo; the band and Y/n hop on a bus to the big cities in the blink of an eye
•Touring with the new label they've signed under and somehow, even though it isn't paying the rent, this is just about the best present Y/n (and Munson) could ever ask for
"Men In Black", Will Smith (fitting af)
Eddie and you bonding over slaying demo-shit in the Upside Down.
•For two avid DnD players, there were two ways the existence of and your involvement in the Strange part of Hawkins could have gone: being completely piss-scared off, or acting like badasses trying to defeat all the beasts
•It was evenly split, both you and Munson had agreed, with the latter being most definitely terrified, and the former, yourself, heavily engaged in all the action
•Sure, the two of you were frightened; half the time all the group saw was you two holding eachother in terror after anything had just gone down, but as you became more accustomed with this living nightmare, a sure-fire amazing duo you became
•Putting 0 brain cells with 0 brain cells seemed to produce something of a bond whether that was destined or not
•Fighting demo bats and coming to Eddie's rescue in the final moments of the battle with Vecna meant that although Hawkins, and potentially the world were in grave danger, there was a little hope for something kindling between the two of you
[It's alright I guess... this was a difficult one, but oh well.]
"Funny Thing", Thundercat
(ANOTHER banger ong)
High school party hosted by kids (who are the equivalent to Mr. Steve "The Hair" Harrington High School King) in which you two managed to find yourselves in by unexplained means.
⚠️CW: ALCOHOL AND DRUG USE⚠️
•Eddie is completely out of his head; drunk to the point of ultra-extroversion, and when the moment rolls like an aesthetic little montage of his strange, nightly experiences
•Getting up to all sorts, the man waddles through the large, and awfully packed house; beer can in hand and loud music making his experience all the wilder
•And there it is that he spots you; also getting to a lesser sober state and feeling excitable in the crowd
•Your smile is all that's rendering in his brain right now, and it's all that he can remember when he makes his way to boysterously greet you
•It isn't exactly the most gentleman of ways to approach someone, but he does it in as fashionable a manner he can muster; nearly tripping up in front of you before getting a very blurry conversation going
•Blurry in a good way; nicotine rush settling in not even minutes later when the two of you have wormed your way outside, still drinking and dancing, staring into each other's dilated pupils
•So many feelings and only simple words can describe them: happy, feeling pretty good
•That's what you told eachother as the night progressed; just dumb fucking teenagers doing crazy shit in the streets of Hawkins together
(This shit was wholesome. Definitely my favourite so far)
"Garden Shed", Tyler the Creator [again ;)]
Eddie and reader coming out together in a fucking garden shed 💀
⚠️CW: DRUG USE⚠️
•Weed again. Like they always do.
•The heat of a Hawkins summer, 1986
•Munson never was the type to smoke outside of his caravan when he had the chance, but with Y/n, he was much more willing
•There was just something about that August, in this tiny, run down shed, at the bottom of L/n's overgrown garden that made smoking in the day so much cooler
•Basking in their musk and the static heat, the two of them, having frequented their little shack many times before, mumbled into the peace: crickets chirping in the back as their high headedness kept them talking like it was nothing
•" Yeah man, noticed you've been talking to her a lot recently." Y/n muttered, breathing in the smoke of Munson's recent exhale
•"Mhm, Chrissy is something. But don't get me wrong, in case this gets out to anyone, she isn't my type.."
•"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah.." another long drag from Y/n, and a couple insects buzz by them- the door way to the shed wide open for any slight breeze to keep them awake
•Moments later, Y/n speaks again; "what's your type then?"
•"Oh you know," there's a crackle of something burning in Munson's joint before he continues, "Someone who can just talk about shit and I don't have to worry about impressions."
•"Ain't Chrissy just that?"
•"Yeah, Chrissy's that, but not all that... what about you?"
•Eddie's eyes have now averted to look over at Y/n, catching the very edge of his side profile; a really beautiful one at that.
•"Someone who doesn't give a flying shit about what others think and is willing to geek out over whatever gets them excited."
•Another dragged out silence; not awkward, not boring, just peace... a natural pause in this basking heat
•Ripples in the far weeds and curtain of shrubbery from heat waves seem to move in and out like the motion of the sea
•"Anyone you're looking at now?" Neither of them knew who asked, honestly. It was just kind of lingering
•Eddie feels a blush rising to his already clammy cheeks once Y/n's dopey eyes met his
•"Yeah, Munson. There is..."
(Not exactly coming out, but you know what, I'm satisfied)
"Put My Hands On You", DEAN
⚠️Minors DNI⚠️NSFW⚠️
Top!Reader, Sub!Munson; had to throw in some smut, since it's my speciality.
•Eddie and Y/n collide with eachother against the caravan sink, knocking clutter over with the brute force of their passion
•"Mmpf- shit." Eddie hissed upon hearing the clashing of dishes, hoping none had broken
•Both were flustered with anticipation, this being the first time they could finally touch one another; the first time they could satiate this long brewing lust
•Their lips ravished: rushed and feral, grunting as they tried shrugging each other's shirts off.
•Heat simmered from every pore of their skin; complexions turning pinker by the second as Y/n wrapped his calloused hands underneath thick thighs
•"Bedroom." Munson took a second to breathe, hand flat against Y/n's bare chest as they stared into each other's hazy pupils---
•And in the bedroom they were
•"God..." Eddie sighed, loving the way Y/n's lips wandered against his throat
•It was smooth and skilled, as though he knew the weak points of Munson's skin already, and with every nip and suck came an awfully gorgeous and insatiable gasp
•Now, Eddie had his nails dug shallow into the curves of his ravager's shoulders, Y/n already tugging on the belt loops of his jeans
•Slowly, slowly, that expert tongue had been marking it's way down the canvas of Munson's milky chest, and their eyes would meet once Y/n's chin was resting upon Eddie's crotch
•Gentle hands, burning with a flame at each finger tip, roamed in between them; groping at skin and rubbing against two completely overwhelmed nipples. Red, hot and sticky all over, Munson was feeling a rush of something so severe it was like some new level of high; like tweaking on a nicotine rush... whilst drunk?
•Y/n placed a feathery kiss in the dusting of hair at Eddie's naval, just above the gate to his painfully tight boxers, and the man had nothing else left in him to wait
•"Yes."
•All clothes were ripped off of him and Y/n had full access to whatever he needed
•"Oh shit, L/n, please"
•The creak of Eddie's mattress and his uncontrollable gasps filled the air, both bodies rocking back and forth on a wild chase to see who could push who over the edge first
•Their skin slapped, raw, rough, and lustfully so, having both of them moaning at eachother without restraint
•Eddie was pulled closer to Y/n with their foreheads brushing together and forcing heated pants to be met with guttural moans
•The Metal Head was in another world, unsure of what to do with his hands or legs, or anything; clinging on for dear life as a natural instinct, so hard that it would bruise both of them, and yet feeling nothing but the friction of skin inside and out
•Pulling, dragging, hitting that place that neither of them could get enough of
•"Eddie-"
•"Yes! Ah-"
•Eddie's entire body clenched inward, letting his mind focus on the intense and unforgiving slamming of hips until finally, the pleasure was all too much. The man's legs twitched as hot ropes of cum painted them both white and pretty
"Master of Puppets", Metallica
(guys I'm not playin' rn... this song was the first english one that played istg LMAO)
⚠️CW: DRUG USE⚠️
Y/n and Munson being chaotic af on mad drugs and shit.
•It's like something out of breaking bad: the two men getting absolutely shit faced in Wayne's caravan (instead of some expensive strip club) on Eddie's stash
•And it's god damn chaos.
The two of them ransack the place with their animalistic behaviour: Munson playing the most metal shit at the top of his Amp's diaphragm and Y/n jumping around like an ape gone feral
•All this before getting chased out by police and noise complaints
•Darting through Hawkins woods and ending up at a little drive-through, the two decide to go stock up on their snacks by stealing a shit ton of sweets and setting up camp at Lover's Rock
•Lighter? Check. Cigarettes? Not a doubt.
•About 3 smokes later the two go for a little hike---
•Skinny dipping at the lake? Yeah, for a couple hours, but then as soon as Munson finds a couple cans of beer and coke left in his rucksack, it's back to damn chaos
•"You ready to absolutely demolish the shit outta Hawkins?"
•"Hell yeah!" They cry, hopping into action; wreaking havoc across neighbourhoods in Wayne's truck; booming music around the streets at 4 in the morning and not returning home without handcuffs and a fine of $100 for disorderly conduct. Each.
[This was just crack, of course. Don't do drugs, I'm not condoning this behaviour, this is not a true depiction of being high on Class A drugs and Master of Puppets is a song about how the use of drugs completely takes over you and fucks up your life. You heard it first from Metallica. So listen to the most metal band out there.]
"For the World", The Internet
Reader willing go to any lengths to protect Eddie, and vice versa
•Eddie and yourself are infatuated with eachother
•So much so that whenever you have time on your hands (which is most frequently) the two of you are either smoking some variant of tobacco and weed, or getting creative in bed. There really is no in between
•Eddie is special to you, so much so that your first instinct, whenever the man is in an ounce of pain, danger, or the sort, is to jump into combat mode
•Eddie, although being a lot more relaxed about such a thing, and preferring to take things slow- unbothered with the dramatics of fighting (since he isn't really a sporty guy) can be just as protective, even if he's a bit chicken
•We all know Munson's little S4 hero arc... well, he'd do it a thousand times over for you, and it would still be his year
•To be honest though, you're both very content to just snog on the couch and kill your lungs everyday (rather than beat up bad guys and monsters for eachother in acts of mighty heroism)
[Idk what this is. I tried... I don't wanna skip too many songs because it's making the challenge not a challenge otherwise. Hope this was ok, even though I was heavily sticking to Syd's lyrics.]
"NEW MAGIC WAND", Tyler the Creator
(best song dude)
Reader trying to convince Munson not to leave him for his Chrissy
•The both of you were not in any way shape or form in a relationship, and there had always been a strong repulsion from Eddie toward whatever feelings he had for you, and those that you returned
•The world view of 1986s? Homosexuality isn't exactly the best way to express oneself
•Eddie Munson, already being an outcast himself, really didn't want to dig his grave deeper, and so mingling with you in the very intimate ways he did always left a sour taste in his mouth
•And whether it was out of true attraction toward her, or an attempt at self-conversion, Eddie was keeping a close eye on Ms. Cunningham with you still following close behind in hopes of something more
•And that 'more' never came
•Eddie, gradually leaving you behind, and hanging around with Chrissy became a lot more frequent and obvious, and your very unstable and frustrated brain had realised that you would do anything to stop that
•If Eddie wasn't yours, he was no one's, and one day, if he never ceased his antics, you might just have to act upon that
[What in the angst, balls and shit? Srsly, I clearly stated in my rules that angst was off limits but this just happened, so I guess it's canon now LMAO. Sorry, I wasn't about to write a yandere reader though because I think this is enough.]
"Resonance", Home
Eddie, post S4, is alive and running from the Upside down, trying to get back.
•Whilst things are absolute mayhem on top of Hawkins, one man, all alone and waking to the worst of it all is spitting up blood between the molten cracks of Earth. Eddie Munson.
•For weeks, he shivered in the cold of The Upside Down, trying to recover from the brutality he had been faced with
•And still hiding from any creature that might be out for him in this toxic air, Eddie ran--- day in and day out, not knowing which was which as all light ceases to make an appearance in that desolate place
•Y/n, on the surface, hadn't ceased his search
•He wanted Eddie back; needed the man back, and so against anyone's caution, he and Dustin set out to look for Munson, hope still in their hearts (or atleast Y/n's, as Dustin has already witnessed the passing of his beloved friend)
•Through the weeks of madness in Hawkins' newly disrupted and evacuating town, the two search the corners of their home for a way back to the Upside Down
•One day, their hopes became reality
•Eddie, on the brink of hypothermia, starving alone was defeated. Curled under a branch, watching the red skies flicker and cackle... nothing but evil. Nothing but nothing.
•Y/n:"Eddie!!"
•Dustin:"Munson?"
•Whilst Henderson is beginning to believe the worst is true, and Eddie is losing his insanity (or so he thinks) at the sound of his two lost companions. A weak and croaky "Guys...?"echoes around the forest
•The two exchange a look, and do not hesitate to sprint into the wilderness, not caring to disrupt the hive mind, though they know it might be the death of them
•"Fuck. Eddie where are you?!"
• The man springs to his feet, new found adrenaline in his system, though he's running on only that.
•"Y-y/n?" I'm here!"
•There's rustling and tripping and all kinds of noise being echoed around the forest now, as both parties try to chase eachother down
•"We're coming!" The wind rushes by their ears, deafening as ever, when all of a sudden, the 3 are standing opposite each other.
•"Guys?" More silence
•"God, please tell me I'm not fucking dreaming-"
•"Jesus, Munson!" Dustin screeches, and the two collide with the man, embracing him as though they'd never held him before
•A lone tear escapes Eddie's eye, seeping into the pale of his grinning cheek
"Love", Dean and Syd
⚠️CW: DRUG USE⚠️
Eddie trying to convince Y/n to come smoke weed at his place as a cover up for (hopefully) a raunchier time.
•The two of you are high school acquaintances, you having not necessarily noticed him but Eddie being overwhelmingly restless to attract your attention
•He frequently manages to be at the same place as you (on purpsoe) usually with a joint in hand, trying to look all cool, and therefore the both of you have bonded over the mystery of his drug dealing and magical box of treats
•And now he has you a little curious to enter his (infamous) camper
•Once you've had your first few puffs of his dangerously effective stash, a feeling of complete tranquility crawls over your shoulders.
•Living in the moment was all that you could do on this strange and foreign high, looking into Eddie's oh-so dilated eyes, as he watches in awe at the way weed has it's way with you.
•Every now and then there are flashes of moments of Eddie laughing and playing with his hair like a shy kid, and you can't quite piece scenes together nor remember what you both just said, but it feels wonderful
•The heat and closeness that holds you together- a feeling unmatched by any sober state- mixed with the morphing and spinning of Munson's room brings you closer and closer
•And once your lips have touched, the trip only gets weirder, and greener, purple, colours. Yeah something like this would be nice again
~[Not joking, straight after this, "Me and Your Mamma", and "Pass The Dutchie" came on. Imma skip just cuz it's too much lol.]~
Alright, I quite enjoyed this toward the end (the entries for this challenge are NOT in order of being written by the way) and so I might do this more often for inspiration. Have a good day, losers. And remember, Drugs might be fun, but they certainly aren't metal.

Tea and Books Asks
Tagged in by @littledreamling , @mathomhouse-e , and @quillingwords thank you!
1. What period of history do you enjoy learning about?
As long as it's not the fucking founding of America and drafting of the constitution, again, we're golden
2. Who is your favourite fictional character and why?
Of all time? Impossible. Current fandom specifically? ...uh. Kind of also impossible. But I think if pressed Hob might just barely edge out Dream in the standings. Because? Because...his vibes? Immortal Everyman who's not all woe-is-me this-life-is-misery is a delight and idk he's just got that je ne sais quoi that makes me smile and say 'That one, that's my favorite'?
3. What do you order at a café?
It's a rare occurrence but. Some sort of coffee, extra sweet, extra whichever flavor added. Caramel and pumpkin spice are both excellent
4. Libraries, botanical gardens, or art galleries?
Of the three, I've only ever been to libraries, so, that
5. Do you have a favourite film soundtrack?
Beauty and the Beast 1991 probably. The score tracks on that just. Do things to me. Fond of a lot of Hans Zimmer's work as well (Lion King, PotC off the top of my head) and I keep circling back around to the Robin Hood Prince of Thieves soundtrack every few years
6. What does your dream home look like?
Underwater. With bits above water too, maybe half and half, but the important things I've always wanted are submarine airlock entryways and enormous windows with an underwater view. Not too far from civilization either
7. What makes you feel better on gloomy days?
Long solo drives with good music played loud
8. What are your top three films? Books?
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home; The Princess Bride; Beauty and the Beast
I've read fanfic almost exclusively the past twenty years but, let me think...I was very taken with the Shannara series by Terry Brooks in high school; I spent some time on the Vampire Chronicles after that and The Vampire Armand was my favorite (because Armand was my favorite more than because it was actually a good book)
9. Are you an organized person, generally?
...Ish. I dislike clutter and mess, but I wouldn't really classify myself as 'organized' by any standard measure of the word
10. Do you have a favourite classic novel?
...I am extremely fond of Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz both but more for their permutation into pop culture and malleability therein than for their actual books specifically
11. What character archetype or trope is your favourite?
I have a laundry list, and they're generally best when multiple tropes are blended in one character. But maybe...let's go with The Foreigner, The Outsider, the one who often holds up a lens to humanity or whatever majority/default group is involved to offer commentary, try to understand, and who is perpetually Apart from them, usually unable (or unwilling) to quite blend in or assimilate completely even when they may be welcomed and accepted.
12. Do you prefer baking or cooking?
...give me a relatively simple recipe with clear instructions and I'll probably be okay, in either arena
13. Which season do you feel at home in?
In my current climate? Summer. Summer means I can get out and go places and do things. I love autumn in theory but in practice it's far too short, far too cold too quickly, and just a very depressing reminder of the half-a-year of winter that will follow
14. What is your opinion on poetry?
It should absolutely exist, integral facet of humanity, etc. Not really anything I actively seek out, however
15. Do you speak formally when texting and emailing?
Emails are nearly always business related whether home or work, so yes. Texts are not exactly formal but it's rare that I'd ever fail to capitalize, use copious abbreviations, etc. Punctuation droppage depends entirely on who I'm talking to and whether I need the clarity punctuation can provide
16. How do you organize your music playlists?
Haaaaaah. Let me count the ways:
- by artist, when I want The Good Tracks from their discography (and related projects) in chronological order
- by genre
- by pairing - many pairs have multiple permutations of their playlist also
- by character
- by character group
- by theme (e.g. Moon, Aquatic, etc)
- by mood
- by fic inspiration/writing soundtrack
- I have playlists for Disney movies where I put the songs and score pieces back in movie order since the soundtracks always group them separately and I also leave out the shitty radio versions of the songs
- I also have a playlist with all my individual Disney playlists combined in chronological order by movie release date
- by vibes
- by which family member I'm driving with
- I have a playlist for stuff that's in (or contains sections that are in) 3/4, 6/8, and various other non-4/4 time signatures
- I have a couple different playlists of favorite voices
- there's a giant playlist where I dump all the stuff I've rated 4 or 5 stars (some 3s may also get included), sorted by play count, for when I don't know quite what I'm really in the mood to listen to
- aaaaaaand then I usually have two or three playlists in constant flux for whatever I'm really craving to listen to at this particular point in time
17. Who is your favourite author?
Can't say as I have one
18. Chai or hot chocolate?
Chai
19. Do you prefer forests, sea shores, or meadows?
Sea shore, hands down
20. If you were to cultivate a fruit orchard, what would you grow?
Everything I would name I have developed allergies to so. Maybe not. Kinda sucks.

Top 5 TV series to keep you entertained through this heatwave:
1. The After Party (Apple TV) A modern millennial whodunnit comedy set over the course of one night at a high school reunion and, you guessed it, the after party! The assemble cast is great. I don't typically love a Franco, but you're supposed to think he sucks, so it works. Ilana Glaser is adorable as always and I love this role for her. Ben Schwartz gets a musical episode and overall really shines as more than a John Ralphio 2D type character, even though I also adore when he does that as well! Tiffany Haddish has some incredible lines as the detective and without giving too much away, each character gets a backstory episode and I really love how they do this! Sam Richardson and Zoe Chao are popping up everywhere together (eh hem Senior Year on Netflix!) and I loved seeing their faces together again in this. They are super adorable in this will they, won't they dynamic. Go put it on and you'll definitely want to binge till the end to solve the mystery!
#theafterparty #ilanaglazer #benschwartz #tiffanyhaddish #samrichardson #zoechao
2. High Desert (Apple TV) Patricia Arquette plays Peggy, a Pioneertown actress turn private eye who after the death of her mother played by Bernadette Peters, is making her way in the world in gorgeous vintage westernwear and 70's sunglasses with a wonderful dead-pan sense of humor. I could pretty much watch Patricia Arquette do anything, and this series allows just that! You won't expect where it's going and to me this series is the perfect tone. The other casting is fantastic as well. Matt Dillon plays her ex and Christine Taylor plays her sister! It's wonderfully written, hilarious, and between the desert back drop and vintage prints I was so satisfied with how good and visually appealing this show is! Sad story that is didn't get renewed, but maybe we can start a petition to bring it back because I really want to see how this story evolves. If that doesn't work, I will happily rewatch this season since I found it to be really outstanding!
#highdesert #patriciaarquette #bernadettepeters #mattdillon #christinetaylor
3. Poker Face (Peacock) I know, I know, another mystery show and this time a role Jessica Fletcher would be jealous of? Natasha Lyonne's Poker Face is downright brilliant! She is so fun to watch as she interacts with tons of characters (including Judith Light) on her road trip or escape from which mountain? Not to give any spoilers, we'll just say she's driving a vintage car and each episode is kinda a different storyline. There is some continuity between the episodes but they all kinda stand on their own as well. I really liked this about it. It harkens back to the days of Murder She Wrote, Columbo, and maybe even 21 Jumpstreet! Her character, Charlie Cale's vintage looks are all so sweet and I really appreciated her wardrobe as it pertains to each new storyline. The acting is a real treat and you'll definitely want to pack snacks for this little roadside adventure.
#pokerface #natashalyonne #judithlight #murdershewrote
4. The Horror of Dolores Roach (Amazon Prime) This series has the tiniest bit of a slow start, but the promise of a Cyndi Lauper cameo plus an original song on the soundtrack made me stick with it and I'm so glad I did! This show is super original with has a wonderfully dark sense of humor. Dolores, played by Justina Machado is recently out of prison and uses her "magic hands" as a masseuse to land on her feet. The character Luis, comes us with creative ways to solve their problems and should be creepy from the start but comes across endearing as a real testament to the likability of the actor Alejandro Hernandez. I really loved seeing how this story evolved throughout the season.
#thehorrorofdoloresroach #doloresroach #justinamachado #alejandrohernandez #cyndilauper
5. Survival of the Thickest (Netflix) Michelle Buteau is a mood and her world is where I want to live all summer long! This show is a wonderful watch in every way! Michelle is so funny and the story is poignant while remaining silly and very rewatchable. I'm already starting it for the second time. My favorite episode is the last one, due to the beautiful story arc, so I'm just gonna have to watch them all again to get there! I'm so glad this series came out this summer. It is such a lovely tribute to friendship, working hard, having integrity, and above all fun! We need all the queer joy we can get right now! Thank you Michelle Buteau!

1, 2, 3, 4, 15, 16 for the top gun asks!
1. hard tie between Iceman and Maverick.
Mav has the feral energy of a disturbed racoon on coco puffs and i GET HIM like I understand. Also, short people represent! /hj you just want to pick him up like an angry kitten sometimes. Hes such good friends with Goose and Carole and even Wolfman and Viper, hes so genuinely likeable. Jeans... to play volleyball? (been there done that) Babygirl you are so stupid ❤️
Iceman, baby, bastard (affectionate) Tony Scott was right he is playing the main character in his life and just like any lead in a high school show he's not happy to be upstaged by a brat. He's simply an icon; fashion? check. skill? check. ability to carry THE most homoerotic scenes? check- We don't see a lot of him in comparison to Mav but when we do this bitch is a rockstar. Pretty and smart! Wish we'd've seen more of him :3
2. In Top Gun '86? No one. Everyone is iconic and there are no notes to be given.
In TGM? ... Penny (STOP THE PITCHFORKS LET ME EXPLAIN) - the screenshots are from an earlier ask
Tumblr media
wasn't a fan that Penny got her own theme. She was a few throwaway lines in the original and I don't think she held as much emotional significance as Joseph Kosinski tried to give her. She was... fine. I've seen the movie at least 7 if not more times and I can honestly say I remember 4 things about her:
•Her dad was an Admiral
•she has a bar
•daughter
•boat?
I got that she was friends with Maverick but like... didn't pick up on the romantic beats at all - the "sex" scene slapped me in the face like a frozen fish. She could've stayed an old friend imo. An instrumental version of hold my hand is used as her interlude and her and Mav's romance theme - which plays at the end to tie the film together.
This really bugged me for a few reasons, mainly that (to me) Ice was the emotional core of the movie. Stay with me, this rant does lead somewhere:
The guardian angel motif runs throughout the movie, even in the hard deck where Mav sits under a VFA-25 poster (ICE'S SQUADRON). The same patch can be found in Mav's hangar with the VFA-25 emblem.
Ice brings Maverick back to Top Gun, saving his ass from grounding (yet again)! Without Ice, Mav wouldn't be at TG. Its Ice who we see with Mav as he looks for reassurance. ITS ICE'S DEATH THAT MOTIVATES HIM TO PROVE TO CYCLONE THAT HE CAN FLY THE MISSION PARAMETERS. It's after Ices death that (im paraphrasing) Bradley says "there's no one left that will miss you"
THEN we get all the stuff with Penny as if to say all of the above is just... good ol' buddy buddy friends nothing gay here no sir–
Penny + Mav's love theme playing over the end as they fly into the sunset seems to make the relationship between Mav and Ice secondary.
I like Jennifer Connelly, I liked the way she played Penny but the character's stressed importance made no sense to me (and it might just be me)
The repeated use of said theme made it seem like the movie was about Mav and Penny... which it wasn't. First and foremost the film was about family and connection with Rooster and Mav and Ice being integral to those themes.
ask me about my opinions on the soundtrack (sarcastically)
Tumblr media
You can't help but smile (nearly) every moment that he's on screen. He's larger than life and a multi talented king. We stan dressing sensibly for the regular oiled up homoerotic volleyball tournament.
4. Ice/Mav they make so much sense together and by TGM its clear they care so much about each other. Ice's funeral is heartbreaking because of it - Mav's wings- (sobbing)
15. hmmm I haven't read many TG/TGM fics but I'll get back to you if I do!
16. (Headcanons)
Hollywood/Wolfman were in a relationship for all of TG - those bitches gay I tell you!
Ice, Slider, and Sundown are around the same age and are the oldest in their Top Gun class which is why they look so tired™ at Mav's shenanigans.
Maverick cant drive. He owns vintage cars, fixes them, sure but he never learned because he always had his bike.
Hence, it was most likely one of many other uncles that taught Bradley to drive.
Bradley's speech is absolutely riddled with awful 90s slang because he grew up in southern California - underutilized imo because everyone migrates to phonetically use Hangman's Texan accent.
Bradley + Mav Green Lantern and The Flash Halloween costumes from ages 8-12.
Hangman's anthem is Red Solo Cup (not that he will admit it to ANYONE) link
Maverick still got asked for ID in bars well into his 30s
If Mav had died during project darkstar, Bradley is his next of kin - and would have been presented with Mav's flag at the funeral
Slider is a dog person off vibes alone but so is Bradley. Maverick would be but if we're being honestly he can only just take care of himself
Bradley listens to much of what Mav and Goose did - stuff from the 60s and 70s that they heard while growing up
(Rant Over)
Thank you so much for the ask <3

10, 16, 17, 22 for the music asks! 🎶
THANK YOU SCHMOOPIE 🖤🖤
10.) "What was your first concert?" THIS ONE'S A DEEP CUT LMAO I don't know if this counts as a concert bc it was actually more of a small bar gig not a big concert, but I count it bc I love them My first concert (that I remember at least) was going to see Driftless Pony Club!! I'm pretty sure it was around 2011, so I was like… 12/13? It was super fun!! WheezyWaiter signed my sibling's friend's face connecting his beard to his sideburn it was great askansjdf. If you've never heard their music and enjoy some early 2010s indie, I highly recommend their first two albums "Buckminster" and "Expert," the sound of my childhood 🖤🖤
16.) "Have you ever been in the first row for a concert? if not, what was the closest seat you’ve ever had?" Not yet, I really, really hope to get close for Ghost in Sept. tho 😭 The closest I've been was in GenAdm at Monumentour 2014 seeing Fall Out Boy and Paramore lmaooo I'm not as into them anymore, but I had the TIME OF MY LIFE. I was like five rows of people from the stage and I could have touched Joe Trohman it was amazinggg. I have a bunch of shitty quality pics and videos of it from my ipod touch 4 LMAO I was also pretty close to the front when I went to see Against Me! in 2018, we were standing a level above ground to avoid the pit, they put on an AMAZING show. I adore LJG and Against Me! holds a very special place in my heart (Also idk if this counts bc not a concert, but I got front row tickets to see the Beetlejuice musical on broadway. It was the second to last show with the full original cast before Rob McClure left and I cried so hard it was amazingggggg 😭😭😭)
17.) "If you could go back in time and attend any artist/band’s concert that you were unable to attend, who would it be and when?" FR??? I just want to go back in time a few years and have listened to Ghost since Meliora era. I was so close!! I've known about them for a while having had only listened to Square Hammer, but only recently got really actually into them. Gross buzzword, I know, but I have such fomo for not being able to see papa iii in concert 💀💀💀 That, or, there was a time Todd Rundgren came to a city near me. I wanted to take my dad for Father's Day bc he introduced me to his music, but I just wasn't able to swing it 😔
22.) "Name a song that reminds you of one of your best memories" Ooooh that's a tough one, I've got bad memory kasdfkjank A lot of these are more like general ethereal feelings of being happy with people I love since I'm bad at remembering specific events 😭 The entire RENT soundtrack makes me happy bc it makes me think of many a road trip spent with my sibling and my best friend from high school, that and screaming Hamilton with my sibling driving me back and forth home on the weekends for the short time I was in college The Sweeney Todd soundtrack makes me think of my mom, she's the one that got me into musicals from her love of theater. We used to have matching MP3 players, and that soundtrack specifically was one of the few things on hers LOL Meat Market by Everybody Else and How The Day Sounds by Greg Laswell make me think of playing OMGPOP games with dear friends I have a lot of music that I connect to my bestie and roommate kenzie, but we've been living together for over two years through the (multiple) pandemic(s) so I Cannot list everything, mostly more musical soundtracks come to mind. I love that bitch ✊✊ Also in general, Welcome To The Family by Watsky gives me a very warm happy feeling and always makes me think of my friends

RIP Virginia Hanlon Grohl and Q Lazzarus
Here is my combined remembrance of two celebrity deaths I learned about today:
Remembering Virgina Hanlon Grohl 1938-2022
Tumblr media
Dave and Virginia Grohl
Virginia Hanlon Grohl, the mother of Dave Grohl, has died at 84. In 2017 she published her book From Cradle to Stage, where she spoke with numerous other rock star mothers. Last year, that book was turned into a limited documentary series where Virginia and Dave met with other musicians and mothers (read my review here). The core of that series was Dave and Virginia’s relationship. She was a former educator who supported her teenage son dropping out of high school to join the hardcore band Scream, which lead to Nirvana.  That support and commitment to helping your kids follow their dreams was a constant theme throughout the series.
In addition to the book and series, various photos of Virginia and Dave were featured in last year’s Ram truck ad about encouraging your kids to follow your dreams.
Thoughts go out to Mr. Grohl and his family. After the death of Taylor Hawkins earlier this year and now his Mom, this is a hard time for him.

Remembering Q Lazzarus 1960-2022

Q Lazzarus in Philadelphia
Singer Diane Luckey, better known as Q Lazzarus, has died at 62. It astounds me that she never got a record deal, but thank God my hero Jonathan Demme used her music in several of his films.
While she was driving a cab, she apparently picked up Demme during an NYC snowstorm and played some of her demos in the cab. He liked what he heard and used “Candle Goes Away” in Something Wild (featured in the film but not on the soundtrack) and “Goodbye Horses” in Married to the Mob (featured on the soundtrack album). But it was Demme’s next movie, his masterpiece The Silence of the Lambs that used “Goodbye Horses” effectively during the Buffalo Bill scene where he is talking to himself and putting on make-up. In Demme’s Philadelphia, Q Lazzarus actually appeared in the party scene singing a cover of Talking Heads’ “Heaven” (who Demme directed in Stop Making Sense).
Around the mid-90s, she became a recluse. There is a documentary film being produced about her due next year.
