Even The Royals’s two part series on Seretse Khama of Bechuanaland.
I knew absolutely nothing about Seretse Khama going in, but it’s a very important part of the history of Botswana and a completely gripping story. Very highly recommend these episodes.
Even the Royals is a little hit or miss for me. I don’t listen to the hosts’ other show (Even the Rich) and I skip episodes of this one where they’re covering history before the 20th century since I don’t love the the very modern way they present older stories. But for 20th century and later, they’re great. For example, I also really loved their episodes on Grace Kelly.

And then the dragon and the knight become good friends. The king keeps sending more knights to slay the dragon, who also ends up befriending the dragon. And finally all the knights and the dragon go and kick the king's ass (right off the throne).
Aka: A knight is sent to slay a dragon. It does not go as expected.
(or: this seemed like a better idea in my head, please bear with me)
I have a question for the fanfic writers among you: How do you treat your work in progress when a very similar story is put out there? Do you go on writing - in the spirit that everything is unique in its own way - or do you abandon the piece - in the spirit of preventing 'superfluous' contributions?
Let's add a further wrench into the process by saying the recently published work by another author, so similar to your own, seems so much better written than your own (granted we are always our own worst critics). Where do you go with that?
Maybe this is a question for readers, too. Do you mind reading similar works/story lines?
