im actually going to do my Personal 5 first because that's what i want above the read more cut 😂 no one is escaping looking at my babies.

Thorns (E), 18k, andreil // a post-canon fic where andrew and neil cope with doing a long distance relationship when u both have fatal levels of attachment issues lol. i spent a stupid long time on this fic for the word count, but there is love in every single word. i like this universe bc it's what i want for post-canon andreil. no one gave them the tools for this shit, but i love the idea that they will always figure out how to be together, even if its messy.

No Turning Back (E), 31k, andreil // this is perhaps recency bias, but i think this is the best thing ive ever written. i have a hard time summarizing it.. but it's an au where the conflict is almost entirely in andrew's head, which of course means he Causes Many Problems. i actually built this fic out from Andrew's fucked up internal journey, which was cool for me -- like, the main plot was developed to fit his character arc. i think that's probably not rocket science or unique but it was my first time doing it that way!

We Can Live Forever (T), 46k, andreil // i used to not like hs aus and then i wrote a huge one lol. its childhood best friends-lovers, and centered on this ridiculous lip sync serenade fundraiser ?? i made them all dance. a lot. sometimes its serious, but its mostly very silly. i wrote it w the intention of giving people that "read until 4am screaming into ur pillow bc cute aggression" feeling that so many fics have given me, and the feedback ive gotten implies ive succeeded, so im rly proud of that!!

Stoner AU (E), 21k, snowbaz // i'm cheating a bit because this is a series, but i almost consider this thing to be like a collection of sitcom episodes lol. it's a normal au, simon is a weed guy and baz buys from him and also falls in love w him. theres a lot of penny and shep and its all just very FUNNY imo. and they are all so fucking devoted to each other in kind of unhinged ways. i love rereading these fics.

I'll Come Back To You (T), 6.9k, andreil // ok, for 1: that's the exact word count. every time i fix typos on rereads i have to edit it to preserve the wc. but 2: this fic is Not Silly or Smutty LOL. it's probably my plottiest/most serious fic in some ways -- it deals w, like, multiple dimensions ?? and amnesia. and loneliness. i'm proud of the ambiguity, because i tend to be a writer that punches you in the face with The Theme. this one leaves a lot for the reader to figure out (to the dissatisfaction of some commenters lol), but i like that you have to think about it a bit.

boyfriend privileges (T), 4k // i should not have been surprised that this did the numbers, but i was kind of shook when my ao3 inbox blew up like never before. it's fanfic catnip -- a 5+1 post-canon with resolvable angst interspersed with soft moments. i wrote it in like 2 days and didn't edit, and aint that just the way of ao3 lol.

flashes of intimacy (T), 7k // this is a series of fifteen <500 word fics that i add to pretty often, so it also makes sense that it's got a lot of readers! ive always been proud of my ability to write short, so it makes me happy that it's up here. it wld probs be #6 on my personal rating.

Inside Thoughts (T), 1.5k // andrew gets his wisdom teeth out and is a goober about it. one of my first aftg fics -- i think it's up here bc it's almost a year old. i am not passionate abt it tbh, i wrote it kind of as a joke one night while i was high lmfao

Do Not Disturb (T), 2k // another of my first aftg fics that i kind of dont care much about hahaha. it's another catnip situation, a post-canon moment where neil panics & unconsciously calls andrew, similarly to how he does in canon. and then they r soft <3

Tequila Sunrise (M), 4k // i know people love this one -- it's also my most bookmarked. it's fun!! drunk neil!! but i almost can't read it anymore lol. there's some prose im proud of in there, but there's also some lazy characterization choices i made bc i had no idea it would get so many hits. its hard for me as the Characterization Guy to reconcile that hahaha.

ok as usual that was long-winded as hell. i love 2 talk abt writing :) also i feel bad 4 the lack of snowbaz representation here lol, but i think that i'm 1. better at writing andreil and 2. have gotten a lot better at writing while i was unemployed the last few months. i think a lot abt taking snowbaz for another whirl now, but consider: then i wouldn't get to write abt Andrew Minyard :(

it definitelyyyyy depends on who's planning the date lol. usually if it's just me & her though, she's the planner. bel can't help but go above and beyond, usually said "beyond" involves pestering 'deus to conjure up some alice in wonderland-type world lol.. whether that means a just slightly demonic circus, or our very own irl "choose your adventure" game depends on the day. it's always hectic, but still rather fun (if not just a bit dangerous 😅)

okkk sorry guys i'm not very nice i default to "demon" and "nuisance," veryyy rarely when im too distracted to care/notice a "baby" or "babe" will slip in lol. bel insists on calling me like literally every dog-related nickname / pet name whether rude (usually rude but its ok i'm no better 💔) or just plain embarrassing (the qualms of being a werewolf. ur partner never stops calling you a mutt sob)

idek if this counts as a pet name but he is so silly to me. i love calling him silly boy its my favorite ever he is my silliest goose of all time <333. it's a bit embarrassing but eugene prefers calling me "princey" or his lucky charm and i think that is so awesome (i stop functioning every time) he is also partial to calling me nerd but uhmmm that's neither here nor there

not very much i won't lie. i only knew him for likeee 2 years or so b4 the whole rapunzel princess debacle, but back thsn when eugene was still wanted, and he was less eugene and more just Flynn, it was almost constant since well umm i wasn't really able to just go on the run with him (although i will admit i wished i could lol.) he'd send as manyyy letters as he could, usually rather endearing one's i'll admit (TT) assuring me he'd come back to visit soon:-)

xiao - omggg they’re the most sweet and intimate thing ever in our relationship. whenever im stressed, he runs a bath for me. he lets me lay against his chest as i vent to him about what’s bothering me or we chat about something uplifting. he likes to massage my shoulders and thinks im very pretty with my hair in a messy bun <3

He always lets you lay on his chest while you both catch your breath, and gives you a few moments before he asks how you’re feeling. He’s big on being vocal with you after to make sure you’re in a good headspace and usually ends up chatting about stuff with you mindlessly while he’s rubbing your back until you fall asleep. He tends to talk about his upcoming plans and things he’s dreading in the week to come while his low voice just lulls you to sleep. Also always has a glass of water for you after hehehehehe

Oikawa

Ok he gets very emotional afterwards. He’s not super transparent with his feelings always, but there’s something about that moment after you two just finished and your breathing heavy that it always hits him how much you mean to him. He’s very cuddly and attentive, making sure he’s doing anything he can to attend to your needs, but afterwards he just wants to be close with you. He really appreciates it if you play with his hair and let him rest his head on your chest. It’s also not unusual for him to tear up a little while he caresses your face and mutters how much you mean to him. what a little baby <3

Bokuto

I’m so sorry but it’s so hard for him to stay awake after :(((. Baby is holding you so tight against him in a bone crushing grasp and is out within 3 minutes. He just gets so clingy and feels so emotionally vulnerable and close to you after that he doesn’t want you anywhere but in his arms. He’ll try to stay up with you if you’re up after but he just can’t mans always putting in work too ok the only coherent thing you can get out of him after is usually a string of, “I love you”s and all kinds of compliments. But like I said he’s very sleepy so sometimes they don’t always make sense, “yer s’good at drivin babe.” Then he’s out. A little bit of a drooler which means it’s not uncommon for you to wake up with some of his drool on your shoulder or in your neck since he loves to bury his face there, too. Really just a big big teddy bear :,(.

Kuroo

Snack drawer? Snack drawer. He has a little snack drawer in the nightstand at his bedside that is optimal for after sex - he also has your faves stocked if you’re a big snacker too (regardless of whether or not it’s for after sex). I feel like he also loves to talk like Daichi but it ends up being more silly. The usual scene is him leaning up against his headboard shirtless while he rants about something he heard the other day that he forgot to mention to you. Also loves feeding you snacks while he talks, all you have to do is open your mouth and make a little noise and he knows what’s going down. Regarding snacks he specifically loves any kinda sour candy after - it’s actually kinda cute the way he scrunches his face up after he pops a war head into his mouth while you update him on your most recent friend drama, and he’s doing his best to hum along and act like the sourness isn’t affecting him.

Kita

So so so so so many light kisses. As soon as you guys come down from your highs he’s kissing your temple, the top of your head, your cheek, any bit of your face he can reach he’s leaving the most gentle kisses there. Same with your shoulders and back - any exposed skin he can get at really. If you giggle or groan he’s giggling and pulling away so he can get some stuff to clean the two of you up. His favorite is being able to shower with you after if you’re down, if not he does still shower on his own. If he comes back to find you asleep he just cuddles into you instead of moving you into his side so he doesn’t disturb you. Also has water ready for you after, a hydrated king.

Ushijima

Oh he’s literally such a softie. He’s immediately carrying you - it does not matter how big you are he’s doing it, he’ll be damned if you walk - to the bathroom so he can clean both of you up. And you bet your ass he’s gonna be carrying you back to bed so he can then go to the kitchen and get you anything you need. I don’t see him as someone who is super sleepy after so he’ll probably cuddle you on the couch (he doesn’t have a TV in his room cause he says watching TV in bed isn’t good for your sleep schedule and brain or whatever) and put something on that either the two of you can watch together or something to mindlessly play while you fall asleep in his arms. Even though he just ends up falling asleep with you most of the time anyways hehehehe

This ship started as a part of like, a pack! Of ships me and my gf thought up and then latched onto forever ago and uhhh anyways on the armyphones uhh-

Really I'd just always think of them ending up hanging out a lot? She thinks the sort of orderlyness he puts into things is a nice pace change and like! His handwriting looks like typing it's so cool! And on his end she's just, well, actually kinda awesome? She tries out the recipes he talks abt when making lunches, she's good at reccomending musics for different occasions, and overall? Really charming and hopeful! Most often in those post-arc celebrations, they hang at the serving table together and she's nice enough to help him clean up!

I like to think in their hangouts away from turf wars, they just really vibe and like. Bc he's scared to talk to his team abt complex feelings over sexuality and gender and stuff he decides to take a shot and try asking headphones if she's cool with talking abt some things! And she was like sure thing go for it, and she's giggling to herself as he predictably pulls out a notebook and tries to articulate his struggles.

She actually helps him figure stuff out (from her own knowledge and some internet research to really cement that his identities are valid) and so! Woah, army is a lesbian that uses he/him pronouns! Just very on the butchy side and it's really fine to be so! Yes she's serious, army!

So Army is out to her, but only her for a while. They continue their hangouts and she tells him its absolutely fine to experiment around her however he wants. It'slike food experiments, but with a lot more steps and its very personal!

So they go from hanging at her place doing some light makeup, dressing up from time to time and over time as he opens up to his team, then blue team too, then over time just expresses himself, Headphones remains ever supportive of him!

And over time, whuh oh crush feelings develop ówò

And between the two of them they have no idea how to handle these feelings - let alone hide them, and it's kind of hilarious how obvious their feelings are to both their teams.

(Cue goggles asking several times a day if headphones will kiss army yet. Only sometimes the whole team joins in to fluster her! But most of the times specs is quick to shush goggles and tell her to take her time.)

(Army, however gets peace from Forge only and the sailor twins clown him endlessly in unison. Forge has difficulty controlling them they are silly in their off time)

and headphones actually finds our first because Army! wrote about it!!! He mixed up the books he was using and accidentally wrote a few crush thoughts in the book he was teaching headphones how to write in fun fonts in :)

Just imagine, in the writing sessions where ur already close together like aaaa and having crush feels, combusting while your teams look on like "Cmon You Dummies", and you open up the book. And there's this little note a couple pages ahead when you were practicing and it's just plans on finding out what cake she likes to make a little cake to confess with her with!!!

Ofc army is dying of embarassment and for many days is dubbed the bigger dummy for mixing up his diary and a shared journal!

So they do start dating and continue to have cute moments and hold hands and exist so peacefully and sweetly as themselves and - just- they do lesbianisms together and i think its sweet :,)

You would be the honey to his hive. Bee is very happy to have someone on the rational and fun side of things! Whenever you don't feel like chatting he will roll a toy car or ball at you and it became custom to pass it back and forth every once in a while to confirm the other is still there/awake. Many of the other kids compared him to the insect he is named after, but you took it a step further and started beekeeping a little hive just to show him what they were like. He enjoys watching them and has brought back very much de-rooted and stolen flower pots on multiple occasions, so the bees have more to enjoy. The scary movies you watch mixed with the jokes about world domination have caused him to have a jokingly cautious attitude around you to trick the others into thinking you are serious about it. Neither of you would ever actually hurt one, but your light jokes seem to raise the mood often. He keeps one of your stuffies you made of him hanging from his mirror!!

i can give more tailored advice if you hit me up on chat with more specifics on your background/interests.

given what you've written here, though, i'll just assume you don't have any immediate professional aspirations (e.g. you just want to learn some things, and you aren't necessarily trying to get A Cyber Security Job TM within the next three months or w/e), and that you don't know much about any specific programming/computering domain yet.

(stuff under cut because long)

first i'd probably just try to pick some interesting problem that you think you can solve with tech. this doesn't need to be a "hacking" project at first; i was just messing around with computers for ages before i did anything involving security/exploitation.

if you don't already know how to program, you should ideally pick a problem you can solve via programming. for instance: i learned a lot back in the 2000s, when play-by-post forum RPGs were in vogue.  see, i'd already been messing around, building my own personal sites, first just with HTML & CSS, and later on with Javascript and PHP.   and i knew the forum software everyone used (InvisionPowerBoard) was written in PHP.  so when one of the admins at my RPG complained that they'd like the ability to set multiple profile pictures, i was like, "hey i'm good at programming, want me to create a mod to do that," and then i just... did. so then they asked me to program more features, and i got all the sexy nerd cred for being Forum Mod Queen, and it was a good time, i learned a lot.

(i also got to be the person who was frantically IMed at 2am because wtf the forum is down and there's an inscrutable error, what do??? basically sysadmining! also, much less sexy! still, i learned a lot!)

the key thing is that it's gotta be a problem that's interesting to you: as much as i love making dorky sites in PHP, half the fun was seeing other people using my stuff, and i think the era of forum-based RPGs has passed. but maybe you can apply some programming talents to something that you are interested in—maybe you want to make a silly Chrome extension to make people laugh, a la Cloud to Butt, or maybe you'd like to make a program that converts pixel art into cross-stitching patterns, maybe you want to just make a cool adventure game on those annoying graphing calculators they make you use in class, or make a script for some online game you play, or make something silly with Arduino (i once made a trash can that rolled toward me when i clapped my hands; it was fun, and way easier than you'd think!), whatever.

i know a lot of hacker-types who got their start doing ROM hacking for video games—replacing the character art or animations or whatever in old NES games. that's probably more relevant than the PHP websites, at least, and is probably a solid place to get started; in my experience those communities tend to be reasonably friendly to questions. pick a small thing you want to do & ask how to do it.

also, a somewhat unconventional path, but—once i knew how to program a bit of Python, i started doing goofy junk, like, "hey can i implemented NamedTuple from scratch,” which tends to lead to Python metaprogramming, which leads to surprising shit like "oh, stack frames are literally just Python objects and you can manually edit them in the interpreter to do deliberately horrendous/silly things, my god this language allows too much reflection and i'm having too much fun"... since Python is a lot of folks' first language these days, i thought i'd point that out, since i think this is a pretty accessible start to thinking about How Programs Actually Work under the hood. allison kaptur has some specific recommendations on how to poke around, if you wanna go that route.

it's reasonably likely you'll end up doing something "hackery" in the natural course of just working on stuff. for instance, while i was working on the IPB forum software mods, i became distressed to learn that everyone was using an INSECURE version of the software! no one was patching their shit!! i yelled at the admins about it, and they were like "well we haven't been hacked yet so it's not a problem," so i uh, decided to demonstrate a proof of concept? i downloaded some sketchy perl script, kicked it until it worked, logged in as the admins, and shitposted a bit before i logged out, y'know, to prove my point.

(they responded by banning me for two weeks, and did not patch their software. which, y'know, rip to them; they got hacked by an unrelated Turkish group two months later, and those dudes just straight-up deleted the whole website. i was a merciful god by comparison!)

anyway, even though downloading a perl script and just pointing it at a website isn't really "hacking" (it's the literal definition of script kiddie, heh)—the point is i was just experimenting a lot and trying a lot of stuff, which meant i was getting comfortable with thinking of software as not just some immutable relic, but something you can touch and prod in unexpected ways.

this dovetails into the next thing, which is like, just learn a lot of stuff. a boring conventional computer science degree will teach you a lot (provided you take it seriously and actually try to learn shit); alternatively, just taking the same classes as a boring conventional computer science degree, via edX or whatever free online thingy, will also teach you a lot. ("contributing to open source" also teaches you a lot but... hngh... is a whole can of worms; send a follow-up ask if you want that rant.)

here's where i should note that "hacking" is an impossibly broad category: the kind of person who knows how to fuck with website authentication tokens is very different than someone who writes a fuzzer, who is often quite different than someone who looks at the bug a fuzzer produces and actually writes a program that can exploit that bug... so what you focus on depends on what you're interested in. i imagine classes with names like "compilers," "operating systems," and "networking" will teach you a lot. but, like, idk, all knowledge is god-breathed and good for teaching. hell, i hear some universities these days have actual computer security classes? that's probably a good thing to look at, just to get a sense of what's out there, if you already know how to program.

also be comfortable with not knowing everything, but also, learn as you go. the bulk of my security knowledge came when i got kinda airdropped into a work team that basically hired me entirely on "potential" (lmao), and uh, prior to joining i only had the faintest idea what a hypervisor was? or the whole protection ring concept? or ioctls or sandboxing or threat models or, fuck, anything? i mostly just pestered people with like 800 questions and slowly built up a knowledge base, and remember being surprised & delighted when i went to a security conference a year later and could follow most of the talks, and when i wound up at a bar with a guy on the xbox security team and we compared our security models a bunch, and so on.  there wasn't a magic moment when i "got it", i was just like, "okay huh this dude says he found a ring-0 exploit... what does that mean... okay i think i got that... why is that a big deal though... better ask somebody.." (also: reading an occasional dead tree book is a good idea. i owe my firstborn to Robert Love's Linux Kernel Development, as outdated as it is, and also O'Reilly's kookaburra book gave me a great overview of web programming back in the day, etc.  you can learn a lot by just clicking around random blogs, but you’ll often end up with a lot of random little facts and no good mental scaffolding for holding it together; often, a decent book will give you that scaffolding.)

(also, it's pretty useful if you can find a knowledgable someone to pepper with random questions as you go. finding someone who will actively mentor you is tricky, but most working computery folks are happy to tell you things like "what you're doing is actually impossible, here's why," or "here's a tutorial someone told me was good for learning how to write a linux kernel module," or "here's my vague understanding of this concept you know nothing about," or "here's how you automate something to click on a link on a webpage," which tends to be handier than just google on its own.)

if you're reading this and you're like "ok cool but where's the part where i'm handed a computer and i gotta break in while going all hacker typer”—that's not the bulk of the work, alas! like, for sure, we do have fun pranking each other by trying dumb ways of stealing each other's passwords or whatever (once i stuck a keylogger in a dude's keyboard, fun times). but a lot of my security jobs have involved stuff like, "stare at this disassembly a long fuckin' time to figure out how the program pointer got all fucked up," or, "write a fuzzer that feeds a lot of randomized input to some C++ program, watch the program crash because C++ is a horrible language for writing software, go fix all the bugs," or "think Really Hard TM about all the settings and doohickeys this OS/GPU/whatever has, think about all the awful things someone could do with it, threat model and sandbox accordingly." occasionally i have done cool proof-of-concept hacks but honestly writing exploits can kinda be tedious, lol, so like, i'm only doing that if it's the only way i can get people to believe that Yes This Is Actually A Problem, Fix Your Code

"lua that's cool and all but i wanted, like, actual links and recommendations and stuff" okay, fair. here's some ideas:

microcorruption: very fun embedded security CTF; teaches you everything you need to know as you're doing it.

cryptopals crypto challenges: very fun little programming exercises that teach you a lot of fundamental cryptography concepts as you're going along! you can do these even as a bit of a n00b; i did them in Python for the lulz

the binary bomb lab is hilariously copied by, like, so many CS programs, lol, but for good reason. it's accessible and fun and is the first time most people get to feel like a real hacker! (requires you know a bit of C beforehand)

ctftime is a good way to see when new CTFs ("capture the flag"s; security-focused competitions) are coming up. or, sometimes CTFs post their source code, so you can continue trying them after the CTF is over. i liked Stripe's CTFs when they were going, because they focused on "web stuff", and "web stuff" was all i really knew at the time. if you're more interested in staring at disassembly, there's CTFs focused on that sort of thing too.

also, like, lots of good talks out there; just watching defcon/cansecwest/etc talks until something piques your interest is very fun. i'd die on a battlefield for any of Christopher Domas's talks, but he assumes a lot of specific x86/OS knowledge, lol, so maybe don’t start with that. oh, Julia Evans's blog is honestly probably pretty good for just learning a lot of stuff and really beginner-friendly?

oh and wrt legality... idk, i haven't addressed it here since it hasn't come up in my own work much, tbh. if you're just getting started you're kind of unlikely to Break The Law without, y'know, realizing maybe you're doing something a bit gray-area? and you can cross that bridge when you come to it? Real Hacking TM is way more of a pain-in-the-ass than doing CTFs and such, and you'll learn way more with the latter, so who cares lol just do the fun thing

like really yeah it’s like, on the one hand, it’s fairly sucky having to have this thing where im always jumping the gun on considering someone Maybe An Friend and then having to remind myself / be reminded of the fact that like no probably not, which is true and yet sucks, which is just how some stuff is!! like sometimes stuff just is Not Good and is not ever going to Not Hurt, despite the fact you can kinda get better at living with it. and like this one isnt a huge deal even tho the larger problem of when ur like, lonely &/or isolated is kind of a whole real deal……

like it’s strange having these contradictory problems with it…..like, Being Myself has never really just been something i can Naturally do, so even just trying to be nice is like oh lord am i being ~manipulative~, and im always too prone to treat interactions like ive got to placate the other person, and then also just like….not having amazing social skills anyways in the sense that i know a lot of times i come across ~off~ to people and can’t really do a lot about that, but also, i feel like i’m always overcompensating for like, enthusiasm and just the fact i like to Get Silly and maybe i’ll act too cool~n~collected or come off like im trying to be all Smart and Smarmy and like jeez no……it doesnt help that when i was younger i generally preferred interacting with adults and so probably was trying to come across as clever and when i was wanting someone to like me i’d be real nervous and try to go too hard in seeming the opposite lol……oh the legacy of the time i found out my mom’s childhood friend who was funny and cool to us thought i was bookish (true) but like also snobby or something lmao like ah jeez i probably made too many sarcastic jokes about things….but oh well i was just like 10-ish at the time.

UH more to the point!!!! the good news is that yeah i don’t have to think “oh we’re totally real bffs” about anyone to really enjoy and appreciate Our Interactions…..and like i do have real appreciation and gratitude for basically all nice attention lol like, if a single reblog of smthing has kind comments, if someone cool just Likes a few posts, talking on occasion or like, ever at all. cuz for real The Little Stuff has always been a really good thing for years now, especially since there’s been plenty of times i havent really had anything happening In Person that was like….good interactions or ppl who were able to hear my actual thoughts and feelings about whatever and still be interested in interacting with me. cuz in terms of not being isolated and in what i find it easy to talk about and how, Online Interactions have been genuinely important and impactful in a positive way for like a solid decade now since i was able to be consistently Online and have my own accounts and stuff in the first place

so like yeah totally i really do appreciate stuff like that. i think its pretty incredible whenever anybody just like, thinks of me, and likes me. having None Of That Feeling is supremely trash and i so appreciate that i don’t have to feel like there’s nothing and that nobody out there in the world is aware of me, and yet i don’t need it to be that like, anyone is Constantly aware of me and like, intensely invested, cuz that’s just not how it goes lol and even kinda meaning a little bit to someone and having my tiny presence in their life be a positive one is a great thought and i really do appreciate it. really what im trying to say is i do appreciate that sort of thing a lot yeah. i could very well Not be thought of by anybody and that would suck and the fact that i get to know that i am is a really great thing. maybe i couldve said this all better last night cuz i was kinda in my feelings abt Life a little but then also it was in a sort of déspresso way so, maybe this is okay lol….

also i worry i don’t express affection and appreciation enough!!! it’s not that i’m like Oh i don’t want to Commit to Being Friends ew…..it’s that i don’t wanna be the one pressuring someone else into being like uh oh i have to play up being invested in milo!! but then maybe my playing-it-cool just makes other ppl do the same thing or think i don’t care or something. like oh i appreciate this person a ton and think they’re great and they’ve been kind to me but if we only talk so often and obviously im not There for them and involved in their life in the way a ~real friend~ would be, maybe it would just ring hollow to say i love them, for example. lord lol……. it’s all “oh don’t dial down your kindness and affection” and yet also “but don’t wanna inadvertently push other people or Be Weird or get myself invested in something where i don’t mean as much to the other person not cuz they suck but because like, of course im just a fun internet acquaintance, which is fine!!” ahhhhhh the challenges. anyways!!!!!!!

the point is well i do like ppl yeah and i really appreciate ppl liking me. every now and then they do it online or even in person and thats just a Joy and i wish things were more secure!!! i also have to not even necessarily want ppl to get invested in me in case things go to shit too soon or whatever and it doesnt help that ~being open~ means talking abt depressingass stuff sometimes that like, i don’t mind being open about, but i also don’t want to put on other ppl. which, sidenote on that, im feeling relatively alright all these recent months even if im not technically thriving; it’s okay. it’s a hot mess! but that’s just How It Is sometimes!! it’s what it is. and ive had support from ppl in big and small ways that i know i could have had to go without and all the ways ppl are nice to me count for a whole lot and i have appreciated it, and do appreciate it, and will continue to appreciate it.
