Summary: Lan Qiren finds a boy on the streets of Yiling and the world changes. A story in three parts

Excerpt: "Okay," Wei Ying said, mournfully. He finished his food and stood up from his seat. "I'm ready, Shushu." He had even dropped the Lan now, Lan Qiren thought grimly. "Wash your hands and face," he said. "Okay," Wei Ying said again and went to splash in the water. He came back very damp but somewhat cleaner. Lan Qiren had hoped that Wei Ying would be able to balance on the sword this morning, but the boy lifted his arms immediately and Lan Qiren gave in to the inevitable and picked him up. Wei Ying clung to Lan Qiren's neck and pointed ahead of them. "To the home!" he exclaimed. "Cloud Recesses," Lan Qiren corrected, slightly strangled. "My friend," Wei Ying said, clinging harder. Lan Qiren sighed, already regretting that he had mentioned A-Zhan. He could not imagine his proper little nephew being excited at the prospect of Wei Ying at all.

Excerpt²: A-Zhan and Wei Ying's first real meeting went about as Lan Qiren predicted. A-Zhan came to Lan Qiren's house for lessons the next morning as usual, bowing solemnly at the door and sitting quietly in his place. Wei Ying, meanwhile, was chattering to Lan Qiren about a rock he remembered sitting on and how it was going to explode someday and how he was going to ride it into the sun when it did. "That isn't possible," Lan Qiren said. "But I am glad you enjoyed the story." Wei Ying huffed a sigh. "It's not a story, Shushu." "What is it then?" "A STORY!" Wei Ying yelled. A-Zhan flinched and put his hands over his ears. "Very loud," he said. Lan Qiren wondered what the difference between a story and a STORY could be, but he was not going to attempt to unravel this distinction at the moment.

Hi, of course! (As requested, I didn't include misila's fics, though honestly I wouldn't take that to heart, are you sure you don't misremember or they weren't 'he's the worst (affectionate)' kind of comments? misila is great with Jiang Cheng, one of the authors I trust the most to handle him well!)

Now, off the top of my head, some one-shots:

A Show of Good Faith by Artemis1000 - basically Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian ask Jiang Cheng for help instead of fleeing to the Burial Mounds, and once things settle down a little Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng have a moment together;

display my heart for you to see by Sour_Idealist - post-canon, there's something so sweet and so excruciating about this one, Wen Qing was alive all along and Jiang Cheng is touch-starved as hell;

Prescription by sugar_shoal - aka the one where the Wen remnants end up in Lotus Pier and Jiang Cheng and Wen Qing nag each other into self-care;

losing all my good years (to the shallow water) by Tavina - to Wen Qing's horror and surprise Jiang Cheng takes the huge risk of claiming her and the Wen remnants and Wei Wuxian, and there's something very different about him;

Already On It by rhysiana - modern AU, because Wen Qing deserves to have someone handle a problem for her for once;

grieving what you never had by marquisguyun - Wen Qing's feelings after giving the comb back to Jiang Cheng;

you and I are a story that never gets told by doumekiss - this one with female!Jiang Cheng, encapsulates very well their dynamic during the Cloud Recesses arc

Now, a couple of longfics (they're ongoing, but almost completed):

Girl on fire by WowWowWow333 - where Wen Qing survives and ends up in Lotus Pier during the missing years, her dynamic with Jiang Cheng is delightfully snappy (it's novel verse, so they have no prior relationship);

something worth doing by twigofwillow - where Jiang Cheng goes to the Burial Mounds with a proposal for the Wen remnants

And finally, the challengers series by cerusee, where after everything Jiang Cheng finds out Wen Qing is still alive, is also excellent!

I've actually read a ton of MDZS/The Untamed fic, but I hadn't bound any for myself yet, so it was interesting deciding on the design of this book. I think it came together in the end, though I have to admit, I just went with vibes rather than anything more complex. IDK, I guess to me the fic just had such a gentle mood, I wanted to match that it some way.

This book has made endpapers, the momi is too thin; it feels like tissue paper. Unfortunately, I don't really see being able to use it on covers.

Normally taking video is just self-indulgent, but the yuzen paper has a beautiful pearlescent quality that I found very difficult to photograph, so hopefully it's easier to tell how it looks on video.

There were several text messages and such in this fic, I think that the Alegreya serif and sans serif works really well for that type of thing. I've never used Alegreya before, but I really ended up liking it.
