(SERIOUS) TW: Stalking, Abuse
My blog is being stalked.
I wish i didn’t have to make this post. The way it should’ve gone, everything should have been moved on now with those who needed to be blocked, blocked. But due to the fact i’m now once a week being reminded of how i’m being stalked, i can’t ignore this situation any longer.
TLDR: @/Disableddeinosaur aka Beanie starting drama within 2 servers and threatening to harass users if they disagreed with their opinions. 1 year after banning them they continue to remind me that they’re stalking me.
Further explained context below.
Context: In late 2021 i joined an amphibia discord server. The people there were nice, and i enjoyed being there. The moderator, Beanie, known as Mossy at the time, was also part of this group. They seemed suprised when i mentioned i was born the year pokemon diamond and pearl came out, but i didn’t think much of it at the time.
It is important to know that Beanie often hid behind a mask of promoting good ideals such as exposing racism and ableism in fandom circles.
I was also in another discord server with many of my now tumblr mutuals, the syrup arc server. This was a roleplay server where we’d make tupperbots for amphibia characters from AUs we’d made and have fun with them. Back to beanie’s server, a channel had been made where we talked about amphibia blogs on tumblr that had… well, questionable art. This ranged from full on implied NSFW to just aus that beanie didn’t like, such as the Moth mAnne au by Missakat. They claimed giving Anne Boonchuy and Marcy Wu from the amphibia series blue and green eyes respectively was racist, and blacklisted artists who did. I internally disagreed with this, but never expressed it. Why? Because Beanie was older than me. I’m not exactly sure how old specifically, but they had a job that looked like it required some experience and their suprise at my age indicated that they were an adult at least. I disgreed with them wanting to call out creators for the wrong eye colors, but i agreed that creators who are actively racist or ableist definitely deserve to be exposed.
Exposing creators we didn’t like was encouraged in Beanie’s server, so here we come to the first event. I found an amphibia artist who drew what is basically vore, but would deny if asked and refuse to tag for people who were uncomfortable. Beanie expressed to me that they already knew of this person, as they’d had a negative interaction in the past so both were aware of each other. I was encouraged to join the nsfw artist’s server, to act as a spy and screenshot and report back any uncomfortable behaviour they made. It’s worth noting i did make the choice to join myself, but why Beanie didn’t try send an alternate account or a different actual adult from their server is unknown.
I soon left that server after getting the screenshots they wanted. And even sooner after, the toll of the almost ever-present negative atmosphere of beanie’s server was too much and my parents intervened and got me to leave.
While most of the time when a friend of yours move on from a server the right thing to do is to respect their wishes and leave them alone, this is not what beanie did, and still refuses to do a year later. Instead they followed me to 2 different amphibia servers, one where they made a tupperbot of themself and guilt-tripped themself publicly “Muffin (the name i went under at the time) only left because you’re a terrible person! You’re a horrible awful person” etc to themself.
Friends of mine on tumblr (that i’ll refer to as ST and SL incase they don’t want to get involved) tried to comfort them, as they were new to the situation and Beanie and just wanted peace on the server.
Meanwhile on the syrup arc server, Beanie had began to regularly make a point to get into dificult situations with 4/5 of the server mods (the fifth being me, who never disagreed with them so i stayed on their good side though mostly because i was afraid of what they might do if i spoke out). They would make rude and unneeded comments towards others opinions such as their favourite pokemon or their art style, and when confronted would make a gigantic deal out of it or privately message me and essentially tell on them to me.
I admit, for at least 4 months i did nothing. The mod chat was chaos because everyone else was saying the things beanie had done, and the fact i could’ve made the final decision and didn’t was driving a wedge between our friendship. Individually the mods tried to speak kindly to beanie, help them understand why people were becoming wary of them or just not talking to them. The most prominent time being when my friend i’ll refer to as S started a conversation in an attempt to explain to them kindly, but Beanie refused to listen to any of their messages, calling them a slut, and repeatedly implied that S was ableist for disagreeing that their behaviour was an issue. The mod of the server, C, who has expressed before that he himself is neurodivergent, eventually stepped in and tried to explain to Beanie again but their imput went completely ignored despite the conversation stopping.
This behaviour in both servers continued to be an issue for at least another month or two, and both servers had gone from active with at least 20 people in each to basically dead beyond Beanie and only like 4 people online at a time.
Finally one day i was sitting down with a close family member of mine who works in security, and he advised me to block Beanie. I was very tired at the time but i do remember what i did.
I went to the mod chat, told the other mods i was sorry for ignoring their concerns for so long, and banned beanie myself. I also advised the second server’s creator aswell who agreed with my choice once I’d explained the context and banned them too.
You’d think that’d have been the end of it, but it wasn’t. For a solid week afterwards it was a constant back and forth with Beanie and some of the server members who’d personally experienced their behaviour. Except for the fact Beanie would entirely ignore whatever the other person was saying and then call them racist of ableist (which, none of us never even knew their race because they never said it??)
Eventually the two servers decided it would help best for us to let it go, and so we stopped talking to them. I blocked them, and as far as i’m aware of all of the others did too. Once again, you’d think this would be the end of it but unfortunately it is not.
It took 2 months for me to feel safe online after that. And then i got a ask in my ask box in this blog. I don’t exactly remember the wording, but i sent it to a groupchat so i could probably find it if i need to compile a evidence document against them. Essentially it was mocking my pinned post, saying it was ironic of me to say no bullying when i ‘bullied’ them.
After that there was nothing, and i actually began to go to a therapist for reasons i’d like to remain private relating to my paranoia. I admit it was partly my fault for not moving to action quicker, though. I shouldve blocked them long, long before that day and i am so, so sorry to the members of the syrup arc server aswell as the animation server for not acting sooner.
Thankfully they’ve left them alone it seems, but last week i recieved a notification, a personal reminder from Beanie that they were not over their ‘mistreatment’. Despite being blocked on my main account, they somehow have managed to bypass that ability for this blog (this is my sideblog) and now are reminding me once a week through a notification that they’re still here.
Tumblr media
That they’re still a stalking, self-righteous bully who has nothing better to do than entrust their mental health to a group of 14-19 year olds on the internet and then say they’re horrible people for not being able to handle them anymore. Even if you weren’t part of either of the servers, please, block them. This situation should’ve been done and over a year ago, and blocking and reporting them seems to be the only way to get them to at least quit harassing us.
This is a completely serious post, and i am begging anyone who reads this. Please. Block them. Do not interact with them, just block them.
I have sent them a ask condeming their choice to continue this fight, which i have no doubt they’ll respond to and ignore everything i said.
Ask i sent below: [

Bakugou x Black Model!Reader
Tumblr media
TW: Bakugou being the Reader’s Superman at the end! Protective and Caring Bakugou.
@fanlovedlt because you’ve been my biggest supporter and all my love goes out to you. I love you and thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
“I feel ridiculous.”
Those were the three words out your mouth once you saw yourself in a Mirror. They told you that you would’ve been modeling for an Urban Catalog, which made you curious enough to agree. But when you arrived and saw that the entire staff was snooty, rich, white people... You knew it was all downhill from there. All these 40-50 years old white women with cornrows using words like “Hip” and shit, you wanted to sigh so hard and slap your Forehead, hoping to knock you out. The Head designer that was running this whole thing, was the age of Dolly Parton, and you can bet all your money that this Bitch had a MAGA hat in her possession somewhere. (Bitch let the Hat go! He not even President anymore!)
“Ridiculous?! Darling you look fabulous! You’re catalog is going to end racism over night! I mean, all you guys are wearing clothes like this all the time! Once they see {Full Name or Stage Name}In my new “Urban isn’t Just Black” line.. It will HUGE!” You stared at this Bitch in BLACK DISBELIEF!!! Urban isn’t just Black?! REALLY?! BITCH ARE YOU DYING OF DEMENTIA?!?This Catalog would strip you of your dignity, get you jumped in the hood, ruin your profession as one of the Biggest Models in the industry. “You gotta joking. I can’t.” You said to her. She gave you a look with a raised eyebrow, she scoffed. “What do you mean you can’t? You will! Now go to the set, and I don’t want to hear otherwise.” The lady said, about to walk away, her walking away from you flipped that switch inside you.
“Well That’s Too Damn Bad! You can’t force me to this! Who do you think you are?!” You snapped at her, she turned and smirked at you. “The one in charge of your pay. Now you better do what I say or no money, got it?” You looked at her, She had some nerve! You have more pride and dignity than this, even though she’s right about the money, you’re better than this. You’re not gonna sell out like this. “I Quit.” You said, you didn’t sound confident, but you knew you were sure as hell, not doing this Shoot. “You what?” She asked with a very displeased face. “I Quit! Doing this shoot will only please you, not me. And I’m not sorry when I say I’m not a people pleaser.” You said walking off.
“Consider yourself Done in this industry! I’ll see to it that you will never get another opportunity! And get blacklisted, no one will ever see your face in magazines and billboards ever again!”
Your heart broke. Your whole career gone just like that. Refusing to let her see that she got to you, you had rolled your eyes and said that you didn’t care. But you did care, a whole bunch. You gathered your things, and left out that building as quickly as possible. That’s when the tears really fell, the warm wind from the city blew away your tears as you try not to panic about your career. Your mind started to spin, so you wasn’t watching where you going. You bumped into a strong chest, knocking you back a bit. You looked up with tears heavily in your eyes, you sniffed and apologized.
The strong chest you bumped into you was about to aggressively tell you to ‘Watch it!’ But then he saw the tears in your eyes, your face was stunning, even with the tears in your eyes. Bakugou softened, before you got far, he grabbed your arm. “Hey, are you okay?” You turned around to realize that the guy that you were about to punch for grabbing your arm was none other than, Katsuki Bakugou Hero Name Dynamite. You relaxed a bit, he was a hero, you were safe. “I asked are you alright?” He repeated. He don’t know what possessed him on his day off to becoming heroic for you. But something in your beautiful golden face, and your (e/c) eyes. You seemed to glow even when you’re looking like this.
You broke down, you don’t know why, but you let it all out to him. He cradled you in his arms, shocked and upset. “Hey, hey, calm down.... What’s your name?” He asked in his most gentle voice. You sniffed and looked up at him, “{Name.}” you answered. “You’re career is not over. Take me to the agency that did this to you.” He said, you were shocked. “W-What?” You said confused. “No one should suffer because they stood up for themselves. That line you described sounds awful, and they should be punished for threatening your career like that. You’re gonna be fine, I’ll make sure of it.” He looked down at you with a reassuring smile.
You looked at him with shocked at appreciation in your eyes. “You’ll do that for me? I mean, you don’t even know me.” You said, Bakugou stiffened, you were right, you didn’t know his and same vice versa. But something about you, your foreign features to him, amazed him. He could tell you were someone worth protecting, Plus, he had a little time to spare, might as well yell at some racist woman. “Let’s go.” Bakugou simply said. You smiled, grabbed his hand, and started leading him to the studio. When you entered, you had a confident walk, you were excited, it was time to settle this and save your career.
“Hey Bitch!” You called out to the lady, she turned away from her assistant and dropped her jaw, clipboard, and coffee. She was shocked to see Bakugou standing there, you smirked. “You think you can ruin my career?! Well We! Don’t think so! Dynamite, let her have it.” You said giving him his cue. Bakugou glared at the woman, he could tell that she was a rich, selfish, entitled, racist bitch. “Did you threaten her pay and career?” He asked in a seriously low voice. “Sir- Mr. Dynamite! Please understand that she was rude to me! All I did was ask her to wear our product for this shoot!” The lady tried to explain, Bakugou shook his head. “So when she said ‘No.’ You choose to ruin her career?!” Bakugou added with a lil more volume in his voice.
“She had no right! This is my shoot, and what I say goes! And why are you fighting for her?! Don’t you’re people Hate her kind?” The lady asked. Both you Bakugou went wide eyed and inhaled deeply. You were the first to snap, “Why you prejudice, wrinkly ass Rick Sanchez looking-” Bakugou stopped you by grabbing your hand, catching you off guard. Once he collected his words, he let go and started walking up towards the woman with a disgusted look on his face. “Lady, I’m going to need you to check your privilege, and your ignorance. To answer your question, I don’t hate her kind unlike someone I’m looking at right now. {Name}’s kind is fucking great! Everything from their Hair, to their skin, body type, and Creativity. And I know a lot of other Heroes that loves the same thing, and dating them.
To be honest, I hate your kind. Running around thinking you own the fucking world as you step on people’s dreams and freedom just to get on top. Well let me bring you back to reality. The moment I say something about this incident, it’s gonna spread fast. Not only will you go to court, you’ll lose your money, business, and all that Material shit you like. If anyone’s career is ruined, it’s going to be yours.” The lady was silent, completely stuck and realizing how fucked she was. “So, do you want this incident to get out? Or do you wanna forget this ever happened and you can keep all of your money, and Not mess with {Name}’s career. Dealers choice.
“Fine! Fine! I won’t ruin {Name}’s Career.” The lady said, “Now you’re gonna give {Name} the pay she was supposed to receive today, and Give her an apology as well. And it better be genuine.” Bakugou added. The woman was nervous when she started looking at you, you stood there with your arms folded. “{Name}... I shouldn’t have tried to ruin your just because you said no. I apologize for thinking I was above you.” The lady said. You smiled, “Thank you, now my check?” You asked with your hand sticking out like the Littlest Gross Sister off Proud Family. The Lady demanded her sister to fill out the check quickly. Once the check came into your hands, you felt so good and relieved. You turned to the hero.
“Thank you so much, I know you hear this a lot, but you’re my hero.” You smiled brightly, it was so beautiful to Bakugou, he saw the twinkle in your eyes, the glow you possessed because you’re skin was so skin was so radiant. You grabbed his hand again and you both walked out the studio. Once you two were outside, Bakugou stopped and stared at you. “You okay?” You asked, Bakugou smirked. “Yeah.” He simply responded. “I seriously can’t thank you enough for what you said and did for me.” “Hey, it’s what heroes do.” He said. “I guess this is where we part ways... I’m really glad I bumped into you.” You said as you tried to pull away, but Bakugou’s grip got tighter.
“It doesn’t have to be this way... We can, Go to a restaurant and arcade? If you like?” Bakugou offered. You were shocked by the date offer, you smiled because one of the Top Pro Heroes want to go out with you, who would turn down this opportunity?! You jumped with joy and skipped up to him, “Can we go somewhere with Laser Tag?” You asked him, He smiled “Hell yeah, I bet I can kick your ass!” He declared, that caused you to give a cocky smile as you stared at him, “Oh yeah? Then game on Mr. Dynamite.” Bakugou shook his head, “I’m off duty, please call me Bakugou” He said, you raised one eyebrow. “Is that a first or last name?” You asked. “Last.”
“Okay, before this night ends, I’ll know you by first name.”

Hey👋🏿 hope you’re having a nice day 😊
Sorry for cross tagging but the harassment is getting out of hand. Okay I’m a Billy Hargrove fan willing to make a cross tag post [which turned into a 5 part series ] discussing how to treat and respect fans in the strangers things community. I’m hoping to showcase behavior we shouldn’t engage in when we see someone who likes a character who we dislike. I’m also hoping to start a respectful discussion to help anyone on tumblr who doesn’t understand Billy fans but wants to understand them.Let’s hope this doesn’t become overwhelming 😳
I’m open to fair criticism. Let me know if you interpret a post differently than me if you want. Please let me know your opinions if you have them.
Don’t worry I also want to be respectful to those who don’t like Billy because you have ur reasons to not like his character and connect to fiction however you want to connect to fiction. I want to make things clear I’m not trying to make a moral condemnation of anyone who has engaged in the behavior I critic in this post. There are much bigger problems in the world but I’m so passionate about this one because I’m a person of color who connects to Billy’s story arc and the way some antis treat Billy fans is just cruel. Billy fans are real people who exist and their stories have real life consequences. Online harassment in fandom is not excusable because it is still harassment.
This post is long as FUCK and will have different parts but even tho it’s long I find the conversation to still be interesting so keep that in mind if you read I’ll try to reblog it and pinned it on my blog for ease. There’s a lot to discuss and this conversation should be dealt with care. I will also have the different parts linked at the end of each post. ( I’m also a stupid teenager pls be kind)
I worked so hard on this.
Please share this if you want because I believe our fandom can combat the environment of harassment online we see. Nobody deserve this type of treatment for hyper-fixating on a fictional character that gives them comfort!
Tw for all parts// harassment, racism, discussion of abuse, and abuse apologia, death threats, spoilers for strangers things season 1-3
Tw for this part// harassment, racism, fictional suicide mentioned
I have taken screenshots to reference and prove the behavior I critic but I have gotten rid of all identifying content as to avoid further harassment. Please don’t go out looking to harass anyone. Let me know if I need to add any warnings. this is a somewhat serious, heavy, and layered discussion. We are talking about how humans connect to fiction here so it’s bound to be complex.
[important Note for entire series] All these posts are recent by the way just to show case the harassment is still and ongoing issue even tho Billy has been “ dead” for quite a while now. He might have killed him self but Billy is still my rat man. let me love 😍him.
The Harassment of Billy Hargrove Fans #1
“Okay let’s get started”
Assumptions and cruel judgments of Billy fans
Tumblr media
In this Twitter post someone makes the assertion that being a Billy Hargrove fan is a red flag. I’m aware that this is not a tumblr user but I have seen some of this sentiment on tumblr. I will begin by criticizing this post because someone being a fan of a fictional character doesn’t make them and inherent threat to anybody’s personhood. I get that the person who posted this may even agree with what I just argued, that Billy fans aren’t a real life threat, but that’s not what is being communicated at all when someone reads this especially when a fan of Billy reads this. And if someone out there does believe this for one reason or another I’m going to continue to dispute your claim. Some Billy fans might engage in problematic behavior but to hold a layer of apprehension towards all fans of a character because of this might be something you need to reevaluate. Making a moral judgment on real human beings because they like a character is not okay especially if you don’t even know the reasoning.
Tumblr media
Just because someone likes a character that might be a mass murderer in fiction doesn’t mean that now they support massacres, correct? Same logic applies here if someone does interpret Billy as racist but still likes his character that does not mean they think racism in the real world is okay ( or bullying, harassment, or anti feminism either) and that does not mean they can’t organize against real world problems effectively.
Tumblr media
This is a crude assumption
First things first not every who likes Billy ships Harringrove
As a Harringrove shipper I can only speak for myself and say I could give less of a fuck if Billy is “good” or “bad”. That’s doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to smash king Steve. That’s also doesn’t mean he can’t be queer and it doesn’t mean I can’t like the ship. And it doesn’t mean that I can’t connect to Billy on a disastrously queer level ( got that phrasing from a grade A post on this hell site)
Believing Billy can see the errors in his ways and can heal and become a “good” person… doesn’t have to be a byproduct of being a shipper. it can just be a read someone has of a character so “anon” no disrespect to ya but your thinking is wrong.
Tumblr media
Okay this is gonna be lengthy
Fine some Billy fans ignore the shit he did… but that’s not inherently bad. Fans can headcannon Billy into a completely different portrayal than what we see on screen and love him I don’t see a problem with that especially when they aren’t excusing any abuse.
The Duffers brothers failed at exploring racism in their show if that was their intention. Point blank period since this is a form of art it can be interpreted in many different perspectives. Especially if it is not tied to any explicit themes on racism in the text. I interpret Billy’s actions as racist but no one has to do so if they connect to the story in a different manner. I felt the weight of Billy’s “ certain type of people” comment. However it was only and implication not a confirmation. Stop being mad at people for not interpreting something left up to interpretation. The writers didn’t explicitly tackle the issue they wanted to tackle.
Tumblr media
This might be helpful 2 know …I interpret Billy as racist, I’m also black, I also Stan Billy Hargrove.
Okay here we go… no-one has to interpret Billy’s actions as being racist so why assume that if someone likes Billy it’s because they’re racist just like him… if they don’t even think he’s racist. I hope that makes sense
I think Billy is racist 4 sure the story flows better for me that way and it makes a lot of sense to me. Now let’s talk about racism in the real world … racism is something that is taught. Racism is a big large system we are all conditioned into. Racism is something we must all unlearn in the real world. So in the fictional world I think there is an entertaining plot line that Billy can go down and unlearn his racism +stop beating up on children Billy 🤦🏿‍♀️. Because I see that potential growth that is why I like his character. Oh and no one ever talks about this but I head cannon Billy as fat phobic because of the “lard- ass” comment so my version of Billy is working through that as well.
I don’t wanna sound all high and mighty I can understand why someone might express this sentiment. I’m not gonna demonize someone who is black like me (black people have dealt with that enough). I also get why you would not even like Billy if you interpret him as racist. [Someone could have the same analysis of Billy as me and still not like him because how we connect to fiction is somewhat irrational.] I would just ask that we don’t jump to conclusions about anyone’s politics because of how they like a fictional character. That we treat other members in our fandom with respect.
Tumblr media
I can never and will never excuse racism because if I do I would be turning a blind eye on a system that kills my loved ones. Your allowed to not like Billy Hargrove honestly I don’t see any Billy fans who care? Stop making crude assumptions about people who do Stan Billy Hargrove ur “ joke” is a hurtful misrepresentation.
Lol like #notallbillyfans am I right guys 👉🏿
*crickets sounds and booing*
okay sorry let’s move on…
The problem I hope i highlighted is that you can not make inherent claims to thy morals of a human being because they like a fictional character.😂
Stand alone post: Me reading to much into the politics of Billy Hargrove/ Harringrove

Anna wasn’t sure what to do with herself in the empty tent. It was richly furnished, but mostly unlit. Faint sunlight filtered through vents in the roof, but it took her eyes a while to adjust to the dimness after the glare of the day outside, and even once they had, she couldn’t make out the colors of the elaborately-woven fabrics around her.
She kept her arms around herself for comfort, hunching her shoulders down because even in a tent more than large enough for one person, she felt safer when she could make herself small.
Her new master was still outside, and she couldn’t process any of that. It was like the lump of fear in her throat was choking out her mind, strangling each thought as she tried to think it. Her eyes watered, but as she breathed through her nose to try to keep the tears from falling, she thought about the way it had felt to cry, in spite of herself, in front of the orc chief.
His hands had been gentle. That part was certainly true. He hadn’t been angry at her crying. He hadn’t been angry about anything.
The tent was partitioned into two parts, but the room she was in was clearly a public one, furnished with a large, well-made rug and a generous collection of floor cushions, but also with a large table that held a map case and a carefully-organized set of cartographer’s tools.
Looking around, she decided it was safer to stay in the business half of the room, beside the table. She walked over, studying the solid tabletop and the well-made trestles holding it up. She knelt down next to it, taking a deep breath and trying again to think now that she was tucked out of the way and had less to fear.
She was quite certain she’d never have thought an orc tribe would mean safety, but she was also quite certain she’d never thought humans could be so cruel, even to someone like her.
Yes. The orc chief was gentle. That was a fact. He was gentle, and he was outside. Those were good qualities.
She curled farther into herself, like she always did when she was alone and not on display, kneeling beside a man drunk on his own power.
She closed her eyes, but found only memories of the caravan behind them, of kneeling beside the leader, looking into the fire and waiting to be hurt, again, for his amusement or someone else’s.
She opened her eyes and focused on the cushions on the other side of the room, counting them to give her mind something else to do, something else to focus on to chase away the fact that she was alone and afraid and had no idea what to expect.
By the time she could hear voices outside, speaking in their unfamiliar language, she had calmed herself down, breathing in through her nose and out through her mouth, but she had no new answers to any of the questions that mattered.
The woman who walked into the room was tall and thin, lankier than she’d expected, but upright and confident. “Did he leave you here in the dark?” she asked, sounding fond but faintly exasperated, “Give me a minute.” She started lighting the lanterns in the tent, illuminating the room with a warm, soft glow that revealed the rich colors of the fabrics around her.
Anna wasn’t sure what to say, but she was afraid to say nothing, so she just whispered, “Yes, ma’am,” hoping it wasn’t a mistake. Perhaps this was the chief’s wife. Perhaps she had a mistress now. She hoped this woman didn’t think she was going to - to - she tipped her head down and stared at the corner of the rug, studying the way its edges were finished and trying not to complete her own thought.
The woman squatted down in front of her, much as the chief had done, and Anna looked up in surprise, meeting the woman’s eyes. They were warm, lined at the corners in a way that suggested this was a woman who both laughed and cried, but laughed more often.
The orc woman reached up and tucked a strand of Anna’s hair gently behind her ear, and she breathed a little easier, recognizing it as what it was - just more proof that the only fact she could be sure of just yet was that these people seemed to choose gentleness first.
“My brother’s made a mess of things, I think,” the woman said, “He told me you seemed upset. Frightened. Wouldn’t tell me what he said, which means it was probably something foolish, but you don’t have to tell me, either. I’m just here to help.”
Anna felt tongue-tied, her brain struggling to keep up. Why were they helping her? What was help going to cost?
"He thinks you need medical help. Though why he asked me instead of the midwife, I couldn’t say. The healer’s gone with the scouts, but if you need more than I can do, he’s not the only one with skills around here.”
Medical help. That much, she could make sense of. “I’m alright,” she said softly, “He asked about my feet, but they’re -” she looked down, not quite willing to look the woman in the eye as she told a half-lie. “They’re not so bad. They hardly hurt at all.”
The woman reached forward and tipped Anna’s chin up. “And those bruises?”
Anna couldn’t look away. She took a deep breath to steady herself instead. “I can take them.”
The woman sighed, her hand dropping away from Anna’s chin. “Yes, he said that too. There’s good grit and bad stubbornness, you know. Make your stand for something you care about. You’ll be alright here.”
“Why are you helping me?” Anna asked in response, hoping the woman’s words had been a challenge and not a trick or a trap. “You don’t even know me.”
The woman smiled. “There’s a better question. Not sure I have an answer, though. You need it . . . or needed it, maybe, if all goes well. Isn’t that enough?”
“Not usually.”
The woman breathed out through her nose, half-laughing as if it had been half a joke, and maybe it had. “Well, I don’t see how that’s a problem with us.”
Anna looked down again. “I . . . didn’t mean to suggest that it was.”
The woman rearranged, sitting down on the floor with her legs tucked neatly to the side, and then reached over to put a hand on Anna’s knee. “Hey,” she said gently, “I’m Djaana. What’s your name?”
Anna felt suddenly too tall, up on her knees while the orcish woman was seated, even though she was pretty sure Djaana was still technically taller. She blushed, tucking her head down a hair farther, as if that would help. “Anna.”
She should have stopped, but instead, her mouth continued, “It’s short for -” before cutting off again. Her tongue felt suddenly thick, dead in her mouth. She hadn’t spoken Elvish in a long time. She hadn’t dared. “It’s a nickname, technically,” she concluded, instead, feeling a mix of shame and relief wash over her at the crisis averted.
"Anna. That’s a pretty name!”
Anna couldn’t be sure if Djaana meant it, or if she was just saying it as an excuse to keep sounding cheerful and gentle.
“Alright, then, Anna. My brother informs me you’ve got burnt feet and welts on your arms and there’s blood on the back of your dress he thinks means wounds underneath it. What hurts the worst?”
Me, she thought, whatever’s inside of me that’s me. It had been a long time since it had mattered what hurt the most, really. It had been a long time since she’d let herself care. But she needed an answer the woman could believe.
“I - most everything’s pretty old,” she said, “But - I guess my back? Master Kir, from the caravan was -” she didn’t know what to call it, “Angry yesterday. It was a bad day of travel. Hot weather, and wagons getting stuck.”
Djaana nodded. “We’ll start by getting that cleaned up, then. Gozukk will be worried if I can’t tell him exactly how injured you are, and there’s no reason to look and not fix. I’ll be back with some clean water. You just sit tight.”
Everything hurt. Nothing hurt. Her soul hurt.
Anna waited, her eyes closed, but this time, what was behind them was simply darkness, and peace, and her own breathing. She knew what the first thing was that the orc chief had said to her. It’s alright. You’re safe now.
Maybe she was.

No slurs, racism, homophobia, transphobia, or other bigotry
No NSFW or really any suggestive things; some of the muses are still minors
Injury and angst are okay, just don’t go too overboard on the injuries. I don’t have a lot of experience in ask blogs, so I’m still unsure of where my line is. I’ll decide on a by-ask basis
I’d hope it’d go without saying, but no shipping any of the siblings together
I’ll try to tag any tw appropriately, but if you see I’ve missed something or you have something you want me to tag, please let me know!
A link to all reblogged ask lists! All can be asked from at any time, just make sure to let me know which list your ask is from!
https://ask-the-domuques-scp.tumblr.com/tagged/ask-meme
Edit to add! Yeah, there’s a lot of unknowns about these guys, and some of them they aren’t going to want to talk about, but others are only hidden because it’s not come up in a conversation yet. So if you’re curious about something, just give an ask and chances are they’ll answer it.

The latest drama serves as a good reminder of why Trigger Warning tags are SO important. Now obviously that won’t help everything, but for example, rape, death, violence, abuse, etc --- for the writer writing about it may be a way of coping with their own trauma -- I know for me it was. But just because I want to write about it, doesn’t mean someone else who had that trauma wants to read it. That’s why I am sure to tag my things, so they can block them out/avoid them. It’s why if someone points out I missed an important TW tag, I thank them and add it in. It’s why I also put in a TW note at the start of the chapter that has those events, to protect because that’s a sign of care and compassion. But my writing these events does NOT give someone the right to attack me for them. My writing IS my therapy. It’s my way of working through things. I tag to protect you, but if you still choose to read it despite the tags, notes and all warning you, then that’s your responsibility. I’m not glorifying it. I’m not making it a festish. I’m writing something painful with my own experience and putting it on my character.  Self care is SUPER important. If you’re triggered by things please use blocking to not see them. I personally use “Tumblr Savior” to hide things I don’t want to see.  There’s also ways to avoid writings in AO3 that have what triggers you (assuming the writer is responsible enough to tag). Having said all that -- if I post something or write something and you feel it needs a TW that I missed, please just PM me and I’ll fix that. But don’t tell me I’m not allowed to write it -- it’s my way of working through it.  Now obviously I’n not talking about things like racism and homophobia. While I don’t think I have any of that in my writings, if I do, please again PM me and I’ll fix it because we’re all works in progress and learning as we go until the day we die.

*Important FAQ*
Aka questions that pertain to what I usually post about or stuff I don’t like getting asks about but continue to get asks about regardless.
[Insert any invasive question about my ethnicity/race]
I’m Ghanaian American. My parents were born in Ghana and I was born here in the US. I’ve seen it more on twitter and tumblr, but Black Africans don’t like me because I’m American, and black Americans don’t like me because I’m African. So I’m stuck in the middle lmao. I’m what you’d consider a First-Generation African, my parents are Continental Africans, and if I have children, they will be considered Generational African Americans.
First Generation African: A black person born in the US to parents who were born in Africa
Generational African American: A black person born in the US to US-born black parent(s)
Continental African: A black person born in Africa to parents who were also born in Africa
Non is just a prefix, black people don’t have a monopoly on the term! I suppose you think nonbinary people are racist huh?
Yeah sure it wasnt coined by black people but the context it’s currently used as was predominantly used by black people. ALL people who are not black benefit from and contribute to antiblackness, even if they are marginalized themselves. That kind of dynamic doesnt exist in other contexts (unless we’re talking about transfem + transmisogyny, but that’s something you’d have to talk to someone who is transfem about. Plus they have their own word for  “non-transfem”). Using it in contexts outside of antiblackness is appropriative (Yall are annoying as fuck with the “non-aspec” “non-lesbian”(this term also has anti-bi roots btw) “non-bi” shit etc, stop it. You also can’t complain about the “replacement terms” lumping yall with oppressors when “non-x” does the exact same thing you’re so worried about. “Cis” puts cis gays with cis hets, cis disabled people with cis abled people, cis white people with cis poc, I could go on.)
Plus we’re talking about marginalized groups here. Black people are a marginalized group. Binary people as a whole are not so the term nonbinary isn’t appropriate at all.  I dont take issue with terms like “nonamerican” or “nonwhite” because (obviously) whites + americans as a whole aren’t oppressed for being white or american.
Basically using "non-x” in contexts to talk about oppression bad, everything else good.
Follow up: If we can’t use non-[marginalized group], what can we use instead?
There are other words to describe the people you’re talking about
non-transfem- TME
non-LGBT- cishet, or people who aren’t LGBT
non-trans - cis
Black people don’t have a monopoly on the acronym nb! I’ll call myself nb if I want to!
At this point I dont really care, go on your antiblack crusade elsewhere and out of my inbox, I’m always gonna mean nonblack when I use the acronym nb.
And yes, you’re antiblack as fuck if you think black people telling you “nb” stands for “nonblack” is the same as exclusionists claiming “aspec” is for autistic people.
Is x AAVE?
I have a tag dedicated to what is and is not aave and how harmful it is for nonblacks to use aave given its history. I know some things overlap with southern culture but others are specifically for black people. A lot of “stan twitter” language/slang is just repackaged AAVE. No, I can’t tell you how to stop using AAVE. Don’t tell me you’re going to try to stop using AAVE, I don’t want to hear it.
Why don’t you like the n-word being compared to LGBT slurs?
Race and Sexuality/Gender aren’t comparable topics because each deals with a different history of oppression. I don’t care about slur discourse that much because I don’t even use/reclaim any myself except the n-word.
I have a problem with nonblack LGBT people co-opting black culture and struggle(like they always do), especially for trivial online discourse.
And to be honest it goes deeper than slur discourse. Every other day someone is weaponizing the oppression of black trans women, or comparing “cishet aces/aros” in the LGBT community to white/nonblack people invading black spaces (you know, something that ACTUALLY takes resources away from the people who need it, see the cultural appropriation of Black African and Blac American culture in literally any nonblack community while black people get demonized for said culture), or tokenizing their black friends to get away with something blatantly racist. And that’s not even getting into how a lot of gay slang/stan culture is just repurposed AAVE/black culture.
And I’m not gonna lie, I’ve seen this more with exclusionist accounts than inclus accounts, but it’s still not excusable for inclus to do that either. We get erased as black gay/trans/queer/aspec people up until it’s time for discourse accounts to bring us up to one-up each other
Can you give me advice on x?
Most likely not, because I’m not an expert or an advice blog. I’ll try, but don't take my word for it. I’m also tme, able-bodied, not Jewish, singlet, etc, so I’m not able to accurately answer questions about transmisogyny, (physical?) ableism, antisemitism, “sycourse”, etc.
I might be able to give advice on school-related stuff since I just graduated high school, but remember that students are not a monolith, and what worked for me may not work for someone else.
Can I follow if I’m nonblack/a minor/cishet?
Nonblack and/or cishet can follow but watch your step, minors blacklist the #minors dni tag before following
Why do you hate Ao3?
*long sigh*
I don't, I have a problem with the fact that it allows racist and (frankly voyeuristic) pedophilic/abusive/incestuous content to exist on its platform. It’s a good concept overall, but the devs are complicit in allowing “underage” and “noncon/dubcon” fics on their platform.
And there's the fact that they somehow need donations every year despite exceeding their goal several times over each year?
What’s wrong with Hazbin Hotel/The Ships/Vivziepop?
[WIP, as I have to go into extensive detail about this and I currently don’t have the energy for it]
TLDR: Viv made a half-assed apology for supporting racists (one of whom did blackface [yes the mask was used to do blackface shut up] to mock black activist) and drawing gross content. Her current projects including Hazbin Hotel are full of anti-gay/trans/aspec (Angel Dust, Vaggie, Alastor), antisemetic (Mimzy), and racist (Vaggie again, that yellow cyclops character that I’ve forgotten the name of) content under the guise of humor. If you’re into that shit, whatever, just don’t follow me and don’t whine when I make posts criticizing it.
What’s wrong with Hamilton?
Aside from the fact that it’s very obviously glorifying slave owners and made people worldwide believe the founding fathers were good people, LMM, the creator, is nonblack. This isn't his story to tell at all.
Can you tag x?
I have a list of things I usually tag because they come upon this blog a lot. I cannot do catch all tags, as I have way too many followers for that. The closest thing to that is the “ask to tag” tag when there’s something potentially triggering but I’m not sure what it is. Everything is tagged as “x tw”. If something is extremely triggering, I’ll tag it as “major tw”
Do you tag slurs?
I tag slurs I’m not able to reclaim at all (i.e., d slur, f slur, t slur) or slurs I can reclaim but are being used as a slurs. I don’t tag the n-word, as I reclaim that one. I always tag the r slur
Can I message you about something/someone?
Unless you’re a mutual, most likely no. My DMs are only open to mutuals.
Do you want to be mutuals?
I don’t usually follow back people who follow me, especially if you’re under 16 or post things I’m not interested in.
Why is it important to have byf or about?
1) So I know gross people aren’t following me. This is not up for discussion
2) So I know someone’s not speaking out of their lane, which tends to happen a lot. (i.e, someone refusing to disclose that they are tme when discussing transmisogyny, someone not having their race listed when discussing racism)
3) Some people don’t want to interact with people under 18 or over like 30 or something.
Yeah, yeah, people aren’t entitled to personal information and all that crap but I have a serious problem with people speaking on topics from a place of privilege. Not to say they can’t talk about those things, just perhaps add a disclaimer that you’re privileged when talking about these things and be open to criticism, and NOT blocking people of the said marginalized group when they tell you something you’ve said was problematic.
I also have a problem with people who are intentionally vague about their age. There’s a difference between interacting with someone who’s 20 and someone who’s 29. I don’t want to say it’s the opposite for minors but at the same time there’s a difference for saying something racist at 13 and doing so at 17, and keeping your age vague makes it harder to determine how to deal with something like that. (Not that 13-year-olds shouldn’t know better, it’s just I don’t feel whole ass callout posts and receipt blogs are necessary for someone of that age).
Also anyone under 16, I can't stop you from following, but keep your interaction limited, please. This isnt an 18+ blog but I do rb suggestive jokes from time to time
I sent you an ask and you never answered it!
It’s likely that
I never got it
You were blocked
I’ve already answered this or it’s been answered in my faq
It’s a random positivity ask (which I appreciate but not sure how to respond to those)
You were rude in your ask and I didn’t feel like answering
I forgot until it was too late, which happens when my inbox gets a lot of asks at a time.
You sent it to the wrong blog (I.e, sending asks about my ocs to this blog instead of @ochood )
Hey, the op is [insert post] is [someone on my dni]! I usually double-check myself, just to be sure.
Have you heard about [someone who is mutuals with someone I’m loosely connected with]?
Most likely, no. And unless they’re an immediate danger to someone or they’ve got my name in their mouth, I don’t care.
Do you know who [x person/group/thing] is?Most likely no. Not to sound like a hipster but I don't usually keep up to date with trends. If I do hear about something, it’s most likely from twitter or Instagram.
Why am I blocked? Check here.
Why do you continuously move mains/change URLs/update themes?
I’m inconsistent. And sometimes there are posts on my blog that I no longer stand by.
Can I tag you in posts I think I’d like?Of course!

****
Anna woke with a start and immediately noticed how soft the furs were underneath her. Her heart leapt into her chest. No! She pulled in on herself, listening for Master Kir or one of the other men beside her, but the only sound was light snoring some ways off, not close enough for whoever it was to reach for her in the dark.
She didn’t immediately recognize the tent or the furs or the sleeping mat under her, but she knew she was alone, and she wouldn’t stay that way if she didn’t move now.
Clambering to her feet, she blinked to clear her eyes. She was - she was - that was right. She was away from the caravan. Her breathing had been short and ragged, but relaxed a little bit, though she couldn’t calm her heart. That was right. She was with the orc chief, now. Gozukk. He must not have come back from dinner, or perhaps he just hadn’t been drunk enough to break his word that he’d sleep in the other half of the tent.
Her hands were shaking, and she clenched them into fists, pulling her arms in toward her chest and creeping forward to peer through the doorway out of Gozukk’s bedroom.
The orc man was a large, blanketed lump on the rug where she’d sat earlier, his back turned toward her as he lay on his side, body curled in a gentle curve. Faint moonlight streamed through an open vent in the roof, and she wondered if orcs could see in the dark as well as she could.
“That’s the best thing about filthy little half-elves,” Master Kir’s voice echoed, unbidden, in her mind, sinking down into a dark, hoarse whisper she’d learned to hate even more than a raised voice. “Even in the dark, you can see exactly what I’m about to do to you.” He’d laughed, when he said it, and the memory sent spikes of terror down her spine, even though she could move, this time. “Are you afraid, mongrel?”
She was afraid, then and now and always, nearly blind with it, the fear a lump in her throat, and she had to get out of here, because at least if she were sleeping by a fire outside - by a fire outside - she - she - Her pulse was fluttering in her neck, too fast, and she could hear the rush of her own fear in her ears, blanking out the orc chieftain’s soft snores and distracting her from even her own thoughts.
She tried to creep around the outside of the room, to stay away from her new master, but then she knocked into the table she’d knelt beside yesterday, the corner of it banging into her hip and the cartographer’s tools laid neatly across it rattling as the whole table shook.
Gozukk stirred. Her eyes teared up as she froze in place. Maybe - maybe he hadn’t woken?
He sat up, his hair mussed with sleep, and she collapsed instantly down to her knees, lowering her head and hoping that he would go back to sleep without looking for her, and that he wouldn’t be angry if he did.
She could feel an electric prickling in her skin, running up and down her sides, and she bit back a sob. This wasn’t what she’d wanted. She’d just wanted to get outside, to get - to get where, exactly? She’d wanted to get outside and she couldn’t even explain herself, couldn’t tell him why, and what if he tried to make her? What if he tried to make her?
His footsteps were coming toward her, and she curled farther into herself, shrinking down and wrapping her arms tightly around herself, squeezing her eyes shut tight and tucking her head down.
A soft thud told her he’d knelt in front of her again, like before, and it was - it was - a sob broke out of her throat even though she couldn’t make her mind work to figure out why.
Gozukk said something soft and sad in orcish, something she didn’t understand, but that sounded like it was meant for her. His voice was calm and gentle, quiet, but roughened only by sleep, with none of the harshness of the whispers in her memory. “Anna,” he said, his rich baritone getting clearer and warmer as he talked, “I need to know if you’re alright. Did you hurt yourself?”
Her hip stung, almost certainly going to bruise where she’d hit the table, but as long as she didn’t think about it, she doubted she’d notice. She shook her head no.
She could see his hands moving toward her, but then they stopped, hovering in the air, his fingers half-twitching in her direction before he pulled his hands back into his lap.
“I’m sorry I frightened you,” he said, “Why don’t I help you find whatever you needed and we can both go back to bed? I don’t think I showed you where everything was. The latrines, I mean. Or extra water. Are you hungry?”
She looked up, as if seeing his face would make sense of things, and realized he could see the tears beading in her eyes when his brow furrowed, a little concerned line showing between his eyebrows.
He rose quickly, too quickly, and she flinched away, only for him to reach toward her again and stop himself again, an aborted motion too slow to be threatening, but that still made the lump in her throat tighten.
“Let me light a lamp,” he said, “Make the edges of the table a little clearer.”
She stayed on her knees, watching him as he retrieved a lamp and lit it, the flame inside lighting his face and revealing the green tone to his skin, the tusks that cast shadows across his skin. She shivered, but the tears hovering in her eyes didn’t fall, and she didn’t feel more tears coming. Her arms relaxed around her, not holding quite so tight.
When he came back to her, he slid onto his knees again, getting down to eye level before he put down the lamp. He had a handkerchief in the other hand, which he offered to her when he saw her eyes on it. “Here - dry your eyes. It’s alright.”
She did as ordered, wiping away the tears she hadn’t even cried this time, and then clenched her hand around the handkerchief, not sure whether to give it back or whether it was too dirty now that she’d touched it.
“I should have asked what woke you,” he said, “Mazogga said you’d be having nightmares - as if she needed to tell me.” He smiled faintly, fondly, and she bit her lip, not sure if she should make up a nightmare when she’d really been too exhausted to have one, or if she should tell the truth.
“But it’s alright, either way,” he continued, “I can get you whatever you need or - we can do what Djaana always did when we were little. I always knew if a splashing noise woke me up from the women’s side of the tent, it was Djaana having had a nightmare.”
“Why was there splashing?” she asked, in spite of herself.
“She always needed to wash her face. But if it was a really bad one, like after our father died, Mother would wash her hair. Always took ages, but I think it helped. I don’t know. I mostly just -” he cut himself short, looking suddenly down at the lantern, “I had other ways of dealing with it.”
“Oh,” she said.
She needed to figure out what to say next, what would get her out of this situation, away from this man, back on her own.
“I don’t think I had a nightmare, but I, umm - I did need the privy,” she said, “But I can go myself. I don’t mean to keep you awake.”
Gozukk smiled softly. “It’s alright. You’re not the first and you won’t be the last. You should hear Azzor snoring on a hunting or scouting trip. He rolls over at the wrong angle and you’d swear the whole camp was going to wake up. Not that we stray out that far too often.”
He rose to his feet, then offered her a hand. “Come on. I’ll show you the way.”
She took the offered hand tentatively, certain, if nothing else, that refusing it would be rude, but he was gentle as he helped her to her feet, and she found herself starting to calm down as she straightened up, her legs taking her weight without trouble even though she’d been afraid.
“Oh - Th-Thank you, Sir.”
“Just Gozukk is fine,” he said, his voice still gentle and warm, “Chief and Sir are for when there are strangers around.”
Walking behind him, with her feet under herself, felt safe, even as he held open the tent flap and she had to duck under his arm to get outside. In the full light of the moon, she could finally catch her breath. “Ok,” she said quietly, “Thank you, Gozukk.”
“It’s no trouble.”
She could sense his hand almost but not quite reaching for her elbow as he led her toward the latrine, but it pulled back, and he didn’t touch her.
She breathed again, feeling the tightness in her throat finally ease a little, her heartbeat settling back down.
Was she really not a stranger? That seemed like an odd thing, but something about it - something - she couldn’t catch it, couldn’t put words to the half-thought.
Gozukk indicated where she could find water, if she needed it, or food, though she said it was best not to snack outside of mealtimes without the healer’s say-so. He pointed out Djaana’s tent, and the midwife Mazogga’s, and the healer’s, as if she could go there any time she wanted, as if she might need to know on her own.
It felt - good. She still had her arms wrapped around herself, loosely, but she felt - good? Alright? At least alright.
The night air was colder than she’d expected, and the fire at the center of the camp was banked lower. Maybe she wouldn’t try to sleep outside after all, and wasn’t that a strange thought?
Gozukk didn’t accompany her all the way to the latrine, stopping when it was in clear view and pointing it out, before turning his back politely so she could walk there on her own.
Maybe - maybe she wouldn’t try to sleep outside.
“Thank you, again,” she said, fighting back the urge to add “Sir” and stepping away quickly so she wouldn’t lose her nerve and blurt it out anyway.

Changing thing up a bit @capricornsicle, that other post was becoming unwieldy.
You think you’re on a crusade to expose fandom racism and bias in Teen Wolf, but in doing so, because TW is such a specific beast, you make assumptions and add unnecessary hyperbole to your arguments.
You’ve assumed and ran with the idea that I’m white (many do, which is strange since my icon is a black woman) and you’ve treated me a certain way because of it. But then in the same breath you’ll say there’s inherent bias against Scott McCall, a character that many people saw as white played by an actor who is white passing.
There’s also this underlying statement that any majority of people see Scott as Latinx and automatically make it a negative thing which again, isn’t true, specifically not in Teen Wolf.
I’ve found the antis like to take black racism experiences and try to fit Scott into that category, but even a small thing like colorism makes it so it’s not equitable.
that’s a general statement about fans and critics alike holding characters of color up to a higher standard than white characters. It’s not everyone, it’s certainly not an attack on anyone, but it happens a lot, across various fandoms. White characters are much more often forgiven for the things they do than characters of color who do the same things.
This doesn’t happen with the frequency you think and in the Teen Wolf fandom when it does happen it is rarely if ever in regards to Scott. Other, more evident characters of color yes.. And the wild examples that the antis present are never equitable. Even when presented with context, they often have to padd it and stretch it to make it seem like some infraction has been done. What it does is seek to absolve Scott of ANY wrong doing, when really there is fault laid at both parties.
I’ll provide a couple of examples in the moment, but the bottom like is that Stiles/Derek/Peter stans acknowledge their faults and many times love them because of it. On the show Scott was never given the chance to acknowledge his faults, the show refused to admit that he needed to grow and be redeemed of anything. This was a misstep because he became unpalatable, not as a perfect icon, but as someone whose actions didn’t hold relevant consequences.
The Donovan Incident
Now, I disagree with some key points, but overall I think this is the most important part:
They fought, like teenagers do, especially teenagers who have gone through that kind of trauma, and then, in 5x13, they’re talking outside a gas station, and they talk and get over it,
If everyone could agree that this happened, this would be a much better place. But antis will not chalk up the experience for the contrived nonsense it was and become so enraged when people blame Scott that they can’t let it be and suddenly we’re all racists.
Which, using racism as a tool to sooth butthurt is not okay and we see it time and time again. They take every seedling and think, “how can I add racism to this so I get my way?” which is pathetic, but also sullies the impact of real racism on the show.
During this time Tracey was murdered, Mason was non-existent, they killed Noah and Lucas sent Kira to the desert and left her there. But being mad at Scott for intentionally misunderstanding Stiles is what’s racist? This is why antis and SDP Stans constantly bump heads. Everyone has been in a friend group where some new interloper comes in and riles things up. Usually trying to steal someone’s man, but you know there are certain things you do when that happens and Scott made ALL the wrong moves. He knew Stiles didn’t trust Theo and openly disliked him, it should have been an immediate red flag when Theo started in with Stiles violently killing someone in cold blood. Additionally, I would have LOVED if the show made the connection to Scott still being traumatized by Nogi, but again, the show made it seem like Scott was JUST FINE! and again, a disservice was made to his character.
The point is that a not insignificant number of fans label Scott as a constant bad friend, as someone who’s always a bad influence on Stiles, and that’s really not the case.
People who label him as a constant bad friend use this as ONE example of it. I actually questioned their friendship after Motel California. I remember there were a couple of beats that made it clear they weren’t sandbox buddies, and probably met in the community little league (was it little league or soccer that they met Theo? I forget?). There have been several instances of them not being as close as they claimed.
If Stiles can be forgiven for throwing lacrosse balls at Scott (which really fucking hurt, speaking from experience) and keying some random loner kids’ car to get him beat up because Lydia kissed him
Just a side note, Stiles was havign his fun, yes, but Scott was completely complicit in these scenes and knew 100% what was going on. Stiles was helping Scott by testing his tolerance and helping him control his heartbeat and yes they did it in bonehead teenage boy ways, but there was nothing malicious or racially motivated about it. Talk about holding characters to different levels. You’ve all made the white characters irredeemable supremacists when nothing in the canon alludes to this.
a few antis forgive Stiles but condemn Scott. And that’s because of racial bias that makes those particular antis hold Scott to much higher standards than his white friends, which is a nice way of saying it’s racism.
Which again, is wrong in that you have absolutely no way of quantifying this for every viewer. There’s no such thing as special Scott centric racism. If someone is racist, they’re going to show it against anyone not white on the show, and that’s simply a) not the case and b) impossible to determine from the asks of one anon and some misinterpreted fic.
Liking Scott isn’t pro-POC, no, but it is tied to racial issues in Hollywood, popular media, and fandom. Scott being Latinx (despite the fact it never comes up, he’s played by a Latinx actor and is undoubtedly TV’s favorite “ambiguously brown”) makes him connected to racial issues.
But it doesn’t, because Teen Wolf was specifically created as a world without color so coding Scott as race-neutral meant that audiences had the choice to view him that way and many did. I mean, look at the show, he has two white Italian actors playing his parents, his last name is McCall and his mother’s maiden name was Delgado which could mean anything. Jeff had a habit of casting white women with Latinx last names they got from a gracious step-father, it’s not a leap to say this was true of Melissa. This is why I refuse to give the show any representation points. Diversity sure, they’re there, but they’re not well represented and again, this neither starts nor ends with Scott McCall.
Liking Scott is something that a lot of viewers of color end up doing
Again, not entirely true. Liking Boyd? Yes. Deaton, Morrell, Kira? Yes. Scott? Sure... the response to Scott from Latinx fans was varied in interesting ways. Some went up hard for him and while I don’t acknowledge the show’s version of Scott, I write him as half Mexican in every fic. There are some who, like you, were so excited to see someone like themselves and that’s beautiful and awesome. There were also some that started excited but then were like “oh, he’s playing a white boy” which people like to forget was VERY much a thing. There was no reason to think Scott was white and in fact when Jeff received the Alma award, it was for casting Posey and not necessarily having a Latinx character. In the beginning of Teen Wolf he was actually asked if Scott was white (the phrase they used was “All American” which...), And there were still others who hated Scott instantly and thought he was wack and did NOT see themselves in him.
So even within the Latinx community alone there were several opinions. Now spread that out to hundreds of thousands and then millions of viewers. So when you say “Liking Scott is something a lot of VOC end up doing” you’re creating a value based judgement on the idea of liking YOUR version of Scott McCall.
Which isn’t fair and isn’t correct.
YOU ended up liking Scott because YOU appreciated the interpretation. No one can take that away from you. But when you cast this net of racism, you’re gonna end up with a lot of things that don’t fit the term and a lot of people mad that they’re caught in your web of racial bias.
if it’s the burden of POC to fight for representation tooth and nail, then that’s the fight I’ll be fighting.
Part of it is that sometimes I worry that if I don’t post about them, if I don’t post gifs of them and talk about them and make them be part of the teen wolf tag on this site, no one else is going to.
We talked about this with your first post. Generally I’m sympathetic, but I do take issue with your methods. Yes, I’ve seen those gif tax posts and I love the concept, but... tax is something you pay in the exchange for something that you want. I don’t see POC characters as tax and I get it’s just a clever way to name what you’re doing, but I think it makes it so negative when celebrating the POC characters should be an enjoyable and inclusive thing.
If you feel alone, it’s because you haven’t reached out to anyone. I know a lot of creators who make content for characters of color, The problem is that when you accuse people of focusing on white characters in a show FULL of white characters and cover them with a blanket of systemic bias, you’re alienating a lot of people who don’t want the drama.
Someone just released some ao3 stats of POC characters in Sterek fics verses TW fics as a whole and Kira was sadly underrepresented, showing up in just under 45% of fics. My answer to that isn’t to scream at Stereks about how racist they are against Asians. Instead, I wanna have a Kira appreciation event, but until I can, I make sure to write Kira into my fics because I love her. I repost gifsets with her in them, I comment and seek out people who create for her and support them and if you approach some creators, the’re happy to be amenable. I’ve left comments on fics asking for a certain character and sometimes they rightfully say no, but sometimes it’s not a problem and the change is awesome.
I feel like the bulk of antis have an idea in their mind and don’t give anyone else a freaking chance. And then, when anything negative is said about Scott, they go awf like SEE!!?!> RACISM!!!!!! when it’s honestly not the case. The anon doesn’t represent even the minority of the majority of stereks. Tumblr doesn’t, ao3 doesn’t, twitter doesn’t. That’s why it’s so much less stressful to find out ways to insert diversity and representation rather than browbeating others to do it out of shame.
There’s this perceived bias that worms it’s way in that simply doesn’t exist at the levels you think it does. Because not only are you assuming that people dislike the characters of color because of their color, but also that they harbor negative feelings.
But, as we’ve learned from K-pop fans, it seems white people are much more willing to enjoy and put out East Asian representation than representation of people darker than them
Kira was undoubtedly brought in to bring a more Asian audience, but again, racism isn’t a pick and choose kind of thing. People who hated Kira and love Scott do not see Scott as Latinx. And Kira has more posts by a small margin mostly because she was there and she had a family and large ties to the plot. Not because kids loves k-pop (which wasn’t even that big during her run).
And THIS:
Boyd is stereotyped as the big, buff Black guy who’s aggressive and athletic (but almost never seen as the brains of the group, despite his intelligence, xxx and comes from a poor background and answers to an assertive white man without question
Boyd was specifically not stereotypes as aggressive and athletic, and in all fanfic is usually the one who reasons and is most level headed. He came from a poor background, but so did Isaac, and he questioned Derek and Scott. This is what I mean, while I agree that it’s your interpretation, you can’t say it’s a universal interpretation and then judge others because of it.
The only time I care is when people specifically dislike Scott because of perceived affronts to Stiles and/or Derek, and I say “perceived” because I refer specifically to ones those specific anons and antis take completely out of context, blow out of proportion, or just make up.
Lol, again, your perception, because I can give you several canon based reasons to be upset with Scott, but of course you’ll find a way, no matter how tangential to twist it, because he’s your fave and canon is a mess. This is the freaking point. Let people have their stories. It’s not hurting you if you also add in yours.
I do not believe it is possible for a 16-year-old to consent to a romantic and/or sexual relationship with a 24/25-year-old, but this post isn’t about that
Please don’t believe that you’re the first person to try this argument because you’re not and also Derek was at most 23 when Stiles was 17 (and to make it more interesting he was 19 in the original unaired pilot, but they aged him up so Kate wouldn’t be full on statutory rape, good times!)
https://stickylovessterek.tumblr.com/post/151831687742/sterek-is-not-pedophilia
Now you might not like it, and that’s totally fine and valid. But age has no basis in their relationship. I’m more interested in power dynamics, which is why I didn’t like Aria/Fitz on PLL or Marrish (which I could have been on board for, but this show is trash).
with perhaps me as Stiles, you as Scott, and the anon playing Theo during his villain phase circa season 5, trying to turn two people against each other over a larger ethics debate
Well, no, clearly I’m the Stiles since I’m right (i kid, I kid), but honestly, you’re the one putting the anon in this. I’ve been ignoring their hyperbole and we’ve been telling the antis to pick and choose and be discerning with their posts. That has nothing to do with me. If we’re Scott and Stiles then it’s one of us talking and the other not listening and doing theings they’re own way and the fact that both of us have different ideas as to which is which is really part of the fun.
But it’s not racism.
