not a vague post at all but it's interesting to see this conversation of ... fandom being dead or whatever bc... ive been on tumblr since 2011 and i've never seen such an interest boom as during the pandemic. and normally i chalk this new deadness up to us all going back to work/the fact i don't truly understand what fandom was like "back in the day" bc i was a teenager who mostly just read stuff.
but at the same time... i wonder, really how much has ACTUALLY changed and died and how many new things + expectations + functions have been created from this recent surge?
it's so interesting to me bc a couple months ago i reached out to an overwatch reader insert account i followed back in... 2016? maybe. and spoke to them just like i'd send anyone an ask, asking how they were, if they had any writing plans coming up and saying i missed them. and they never responded, which was fine honestly.... but what i found a little baffling was that they went on to say they still accepted requests? and still wanted to run their account the same way they did back in 2016????
(it truly felt so alien. i was like... we're people now!!! we talk to each other now!!!!!!!!!!!!)
and that isn't to say anything in particular, but i feel like things have changed since then... at the same this request system has spoiled some readers with the notion they can ask for what they want and receive it... seems like some writers have also been tainted by the expectation that people should like everything they post. it's hard to express, but it feels like one of those snakes that's eating itself ... wanting a certain amount of praise for doing things u "technically" enjoy doing.
which isn't to say it's reasonable to ignore fandom writers or demand things on the other hand (it's not)... but i guess a lot of functions here have changed now?
and tho fandom has always been alive and well, communities can def run their courses and get smaller and more........ dead, as shows progress or end or take hiatuses and interest wanes naturally....
and tho i don't remember the point i was trying to make, i just wonder how much of this is a natural decline that's being clung to irrationally. i miss having a large community too. fanfic writers deserve the utmost of praise for the care and dedication they put into their work. but setting urself up for disappointment... isn't anyone's fault. and blaming people for that isolates u from those you want supporting u. i have no idea.
-
you know, i feel so inadequate bc i have such a lack of long fics and have a really hard time writing them (tho i do, just ... slowly and silently). but this is why i like answering to asks so much, bc the words of others inspire me (even if i've gotten a bit burnt out from my persona). and if this isn't u... you know, u write ur own stuff by urself, great!
but i feel like... in turn, this community is now in a transition stage (because we went from a community where everyone was having fun / getting asks + praise... to one that's smaller, isn't as buoyant or forgiving), and is readjusting itself to fit the new needs of writers, those who want to write their own complex ideas and those who need interaction to do so... and the readers that make both things possible finding their new places.
idk but... i think we're all relearning how to do this. and that shouldn't be blamed on anyone, regardless of feelings.
thanks for reading all of this if u did!! no need to comment or anything. and whatever if u didn't i don't mind <3

Following up on the Chinese fan who got attacked by stitch since some people said they did not see it. i did some digging out of curiosity
The poem was about how ppl who use antiracism as a guise for harassment and slur usage don't represent the poet. No mention of EOTWR or stitch at all in the tags or the text.
stitch posted a smug comment on bluesky about the poem.
fiercynn and someone named hydrochaeris, or spec, posted rants on tumblr and twitter. They called the poem pro-racism and said it showed the poet is allying themselves with white supremacists.
Another thing fiercynn did was screenshot the poem and directly link the url to their followers multiple times to encourage their followers to harass the poet. It is still up. post number 721408803348905984
Oh and of course they immediately jumped to accusing the poet of being anti-Black. And they once again said pokemon of color and pick me were not insults. They said that those slurs were about the white people not the POC. post number 721480208118693894
The poet leads events featuring stories by and for Chinese diaspora fans, and also writes dark fic of her own. She has done real antiracism work and hasn't been loud or bullying about it either.
It is just so amazing these people see an anti-harassment poem and immediately get defensive. They are pointing their fingers right at themselves. I do not understand how anyone can support them when they habve been so blatant in their own racism. They also interpret anything as an attack against stitch and immediately point fingers calling people anti-Black if there is even an ounce of disagreement.
--
It's amazing to me that people can't seem to find even one black voice other than Stitch to elevate.

SBG POST!! (hxh moots please ignore this 😓)
** disclaimer: DO NOT SEND HATE TO ANYONE!!!! whether or not they agree with what I’m going to say, please don’t send hate to them. if anything I say comes off as harsh/rude, just know that’s not my intention.
deadass wasn’t gonna say anything because I genuinely don’t care, but some of my friends/supporters are getting hate and it’s starting to annoy me. also my name got dragged in so it’s free game now 😛 **
posting this on my main for reach, but my side blog for sbg is @b3achysurfur !!
Someone sent me a post that was talking about how the fandom thinks it’s okay to hate Logan for being a nerd but not anyone else for the tropes they’re based on. They also said that people have been “getting defensive about their right to hate a charater”. The person probably has me blocked and won’t see this but idrc bc they were talking about me (to some extent).
no one is getting defensive about their “right to hate a character”. from what I’ve seen (and posted) it was just people pointing out how silly it is to say “oh you can’t hate this character 😡”. that’s literally it lmao. that’s not being “defensive”, it’s just pointing out how stupid you guys sound. also, it applies to you too? you can hate/like whoever you want.
“i'd be stabbed 27 times and set on fire for saying anything remotely bad about aiden but logan gets away scot free bc he's a ‘nerd’ and ppl simply dislike him bc of his trope? the double standards are just odd, that's what i'm addressing.” Scot-free? No I didn’t “get away scot free”. I got sent death threats, sm1 attempted to dox me, my dms were full of hate, and there was post after post of people saying things about me (some of which came from people you associate yourself with op). It just looks like I “got away scot-free” because I’m not a little bitch and can deal with backlash for my opinions.
you guys created this environment where everyone has to like everything! everyone has to feel the same way about everything! and a lot of you have this mob mentality and just follow the crowd instead of having you’re own opinions. There is no “double standard”. You guys hate on anyone and everyone for their personal opinions.
“what's the difference between them and everyone else? i'm "allowed to hate" these characters, but if i posted my opinion on someone like aiden, who is a mostly beloved character by the fandom, i'd get Rattled.” Nothing! There’s no difference! Only problem is none of you have the balls to express your opinions out loud. Not that I blame you tho, from my experience the fandom is very agressive when you disagree with them. And by the way, I was never “allowed to hate” Logan. Can’t even count how many people made posts saying, “dni if you hate Logan/any of the main cast” lol. Which also confuses me op. You can’t really complain about it when you’re apart of the problem, no?
“and anyways i'm talking abt the fact that people are defending beachy for their opinions, the majority of us dislike them but it's still insane the difference” I know people hate me, idrc ab that. but the fact that you complained about not being able to dislike any of the main charaters than added that you (as well as most of sbg tumblr) don’t like me bc of my opinion is so hypocritical. Do you not hear yourself?? Also people defend me because you guys get nasty quick. most of my posts are JOKES. yes I hate Logan, but I’m not being serious when I write things about him. Not to mention most the people who defend me now were at my thoart when we first started interacting.
Having different opinions on characters and vocalizing it is very important to fandom growth. You guys need to understand this. If you force everyone is like a charater then not only does it make the fandom boring to interact with it but it also creates drama. AKA THE WHOLE “LOWAR”. SHI WOULDVE NEVER HAPPENED IF I WAS ALLOWED TO DISLIKE LOGAN LMAO??? Not to mention, it allows you to see different perspectives and versions of the same charater just through someone else’s eyes. That’s why our fanon versions of charaters are just copy and paste of the canon versions. Because you guys never give anyone space to be creative. As soon as you don’t agree with it, you all jump on the person and make it a problem. It’s annoying.
If you don’t want to be attacked for your opinions on a charater then stop attacking others for their opinions. Obviously this problem won’t be fixed immediately but it’s one person at a time yk? Just know if you hate a character, you should expect at least a bit of backlash and debate. Shi I still argue with people and it’s been like 3 months. Just remember to be open minded, respectful, and have fun!!
“Hating” on a charater doesn’t have to be negative/drama. it’s you guys that make it into that. Relax a bit and have a little more fun. Or don’t, it’s ya life 🤷‍♀️
—- btw if you ever have a problem with me, talk to me about it or stfu. Stop attacking my friends/supporters. you can dm me, tag me in a post, send me an ask, comment, reblog, idc. I’ll respond (on my sbg side blog). Or just block and ignore me. Thanks 😛

The amount of times we met and had plans and you couldn't handle it bc it involves conditions of outside /loud places, FUN plans, pride parades you came all the way to be with me in and had to cut short, ideas to go to a club. Those people also clearly never did any activism.
When shiri Eisner makes posts of "boohoo stop telling people to go to protests bc some are disabled and cant" it's fucking embarrassing a. Bc many disabled people can, b. Because literally then it is Not About You. If YOU can't, then don't. No one's shaming anyone who can't go, and its more important to tell the general public to get off their asses then to hurt the feelings of people thinking its about them. BUT THEN on tumblr.com apparently IT IS about them as people go to specific disabled people's tumblr to get mad at them for not protesting (or not protesting enough? Half this fucking website doesn't do shit). What's wrong with people lmao??
Or like when she had a post that was "ways to be an activist for disabled people who can't go to protests" which is so stupid bc it gets protests the same Individualistic issue of veganism when it becomes a personality thing and not ideological goal you want to support. It's once again, not about you. Not only did she list memes as way to be an activist (stupid) the entire approach is wrong instead of writing "ways to still help if you can't go to a protest"(= lovely important post to make. There are many ways. None include memes lmao) but it's all about YOU and how YOU can still feel nice in your activism ego.
Anyway you said none of these things, you're a disabled person putting so much effort just to show up bc it matters to you. Meanwhile half this website never been to more than two protests (which probably also were like women's March lol). Ppl should calm down you owe them shit
RIGHT LMFAO. ily also

yo, i saw they kinda piled up on you on that "some of you want a socialist but can't handle children in public space" post for your tags (the can't handle ppl listening to music without earbuds thing) but I just needed to say you're absolutely RIGHT and actually it is a kinda similar type of thing and yeah. well put.
oh I didn't even notice, I scrolled back just now and saw like 2 comments on it and decided that's enough lol
funny that it was called a terminally online take when the reason I said it was that I believe that the sentiment of "everyone who listens to audio outloud in a public space is an asshole" is the real terminally online take. I've never seen a single soul irl complain about that, but it's so commonplace to see on tumblr that it's kinda baffling.
really the only time I've been bothered by it was when children, unable to be aware of their surrounding, play baby music really loud on tablets, which is how I made that connection in the first place to throw in the tags. even then, of course, they are children and shouldn't be held to that standard of public behavior.
I've been working a lot the last few years in production roles for concerts, festivals, parades, ect. around my city. I also come from a culture and musical background that encourages communal listening and spontaneous performance. Basically, I might have a different perspective on the values of music and dance held in public spaces, so let's leave it at there.

hi i just want to say i love love love ur blog and thank u for all the info on “rad feminism”. although i very much believe in / support / LOVE feminism (of course!!!!) i wasnt really aware of the term but i do hear it thrown around a lot so i’m shocked to hear that this type of “feminism” is discriminatory towards transgender people. feminism should be the complete OPPOSITE of that. calling urself a feminist and forcing ppl into boxes is CRAZY.
So, here's a post I reblogged today that looks at how radfems and TERFs are doing shit on tumblr to try and indoctrinate people, and I just want to share that because there's further good information about their tactics.
The history of radfems is 100% wrapped in gatekeeping and control tactics. Very short history: Radfems were birthed out of second wave feminism. Up until that point, feminism was something pursued in the public sector most often by women who had the means and time to focus fully on activism. So, upper middle-class white women. There were BIPOC women in every aspect of feminism from the beginning, but due to socioeconomic factors and just plain old racism, those women were rarely listened to outside their own sphere of influence.
In second wave, BIPOC women had finally gained some upward mobility economically and socially that opened the doors to do more in the wider world of the feminist movement. When they went to the white women in charge of the movement and said, "Hey, we have supported and worked for your concerns for decades. Here are things that are especially affecting BIPOC women, and we would greatly appreciate the reciprocation of everything we've put into the movement.
To which the upper middle-class white women who had the power in the movement basically said, "No, those things don't affect us, so we don't care."
Out of this schism came a lot of white women who couldn't believe other women were "betraying" them by putting the needs of their communities ahead of what white women wanted. And that was the birth of radical feminism, the idea that anyone who called themself "feminist" disagreeing with these women were the enemy and had to be silence and stopped.
Several decades later, third wave feminism was able to really start discussing intersectional feminism where even if your concerns aren't mine, they are valid because you are speaking from an experience and a community I don't have. But we are all striving for human rights, dignity, and respect, so fighting for the rights of one woman is fighting for rights for all of us. Third wave isn't (wasn't? I'm not sure if we've actually rolled into fourth wave at this point) perfect. White Feminism is still an issue. Getting people who say they believe in the rights of all women to realize that means women they find fundamentally terrible deserve the same human rights is a problem. People wanting to put Western Feminism Ideals onto other cultures like Japan and the Middle East is a problem.
Meanwhile, Radical Feminists have built a walled-off city where they can all yell about how they're the truest and purest feminists and anyone who disagrees with them is mentally ill, or hates women, or is an abuse apologist. Amongst many other claims.
The difference between Radfems and Feminists is that Radfems don't want to bring in anyone who doesn't absolutely agree with them on every point. Feminists want to open the doors and welcome anyone trying to genuinely help all women achieve human dignity. It's not a perfect system. As listed above, there are issues in the movement to this day that will likely persist until the universe ends, but at the core of it, Radfems want total agreement and loyalty, and Feminists are seeking to build a community where we understand one another and support one another even if my problem isn't your problem.
The most important thing to remember, I think, is this: The number of radfems is actually pretty small. They're just fucking loud. And I think the reason they've gotten so loud is that more and more people are realizing their goals aren't to educate or help but to shame and control, and so they're getting louder about how they're the real victims and MUST fight back against people who disagree with them, whether directly or not because they're trying to "save" the "real" feminists. They're not trying to save anyone except themselves and the rest of their cult, and to hell with the rest of us. But, there's more of us seeking real community and care than radfems, so I think we'll win in the end. We just have to remember that we're in this together, and that keeping the door open to new ideas and information is a very powerful tool.

So, Writers and Actors are now on Strike for Better Pay...
Musicians: Why aren't songwriters and musicians also going on strike for better pay???
Cuz the biggest singer-songwriter of the 21st century started doing that a decade ago, and everyone mocked her by claiming she was a greedy, white, she-devil using white feminism to pad her own pockets.
Now musicians want Taylor Swift to 'speak up' and 'use her power and connections' to get better pay for music artists, when she's been obnoxiously loud about it for a decade.
Before Apple Music dropped, Taylor found out they didn't plan to pay artists during the free trials ppl would use to stream their music. She penned an open letter to Apple Music and posted it here on Tumblr. She pointed out how damaging such behavior was for smaller artists and said she would withhold all of her music form the platform if they dared to go through with such disgraceful behavior. They caved instantly.
She has consistently pushed for people to keep physical media sales alive and well because streaming will do nothing but pay labels who do not have to share the earnings from streaming, with their artists. Yes, the artists who do more of the work(singing, song-writing, producing, etc) get more of a cut, but when the label gets 70% of overall earnings from the streaming giant, obviously there is something fucked up. This is why swifties buy her albums in CD/cassette/vinyl form and why she can have an album debut with over 1.5 Million sales. She made certain we understood that most singers make money from touring and merch and not their actual music, and we should always support physical media first.
Taylor has gone on to over and over again bring this concern up over the years. She refused to keep her music on Spotify and pulled all of it until they agreed to pay better royalties(which happened years later). And everyone turned on her. Not one person in the industry was willing to side with her. She was mocked by fellow singers AND songwriters, and accused by every major business-related magazine, of being greedy. Spotify's CEO went especially heavy on the accusations(despite how years later he admitted that he arranged countless meetings with her and her management team to beg her to change her mind). And then in 2017, Spotify was revealed to owe $21 Million in unpaid royalties. And had to pay it all out.
After that, they finally came to an agreement. And now, in 2023, Taylor is managing 100 Million steams a day and has the second-most followers on the platform. Soon, she'll eclipse the #1 artist by the end of the year if her daily numbers stay on track. Her music was gone for 3 years and she's already beaten out almost everybody. She could have been at the top for years already if she didn't stand by her morals.
Taylor continued to be very vocal about this problem, and when her Masters were sold away from her, and she wasn't even warned ahead of time or given the chance to buy them, despite how her label promised to give her first dibs, she signed to Republic Records, and her first order of business was to negotiate better pay of Spotify shares for all artists under UMG. They have to actually share what they make from Spotify, with their artists(including ppl she doesn't gel with like Kanye West, Justin Bieber, etc) which is not a common practice.
Her being loud about it has warned new artists to be more careful with signing contracts and looking into options for their music's distribution. She's influenced an upcoming generation by these actions alone.
So, you want Taylor Swift to use her platform? You want her to make a difference? Well, she's been speaking and acting on it for a decade and is the only one at her level even willing to do anything about it or stand by her decisions.
In the words of a swiftie I follow on Twitter, y'all wouldn't know the first thing about unionizing under a worthwhile cause. You ppl see someone you think is well off, fighting for the rights of those in the same profession as them, and instead of thinking, hey, it's good this multi-millionaire wants to help these smaller names out, so they get paid what they are worth, y'all get defensive and angry and deliberately make it all about them being greedy for more money for themselves. Y'all do not want other ppl to get paid what they are truly worth cuz it won't benefit you personally, and that's a sad fact. You wouldn't unionize for shit, and we all know it.
How a woman can be in every episode of a TV show and come away with a paycheck of 1 penny per episode is wild. But y'all will Google her name and see that according to Google, she's apparently worth exactly $1 Million. Net worth is not the same as liquid assets btw. And if her voice, and face, and literal actions were used in a show for several seasons, she shouldn't be getting less than a dollar per month for her contribution to the entire series. But oh no! She doesn't deserve fair pay because... *checks notes* multi-millionaire Mark Ruffalo is on strike with her to help her voice be heard.
Taylor Swift was the first music artist to speak on it, and she remains the only big music artist to speak on it. And because she spear-headed the message, there will be many people who overlook it on some personal issue they have with her. And we know what those 'issues' are deeply rooted in, let's be honest.
Some of y'all are going to have to acknowledge that she was right and actually listen when she makes business decisions.

From what I'm seeing of the fandom today, it's the twitter fans who are in the outlier on this one. Everywhere seems to disagree with them on this issue or at least don't seem to think it is an issue worthy of anger yet. Reddit, multiple discords, instagram, FB, here on tumblr etcetc. In fact all these locations just seem frustrated and annoyed by the twitter stans if I'm honest, none of them are being particularly nice about them. (I think the big issue people seem to have with them is they always seem to be stirring up drama alongside the tiktokers and the Twitter stans have claimed to speak for the whole fandom which seems to have riled a lot of people up)
i don't want to have to repeat myself but i will, just bc i don't want ppl to misconstrued what i think lol
again, i don't want snc collabing with joe rogan either, bc that seems to be where a lot of ppl's contention are with them. understandable. i feel the same. joe rogan can suck my nonexistent left nut. that being said, we can't control snc. they obviously went on his show over a year ago at this point bc it was a business decision. a business transaction so that they can reach a wider audience. and then on top of that, his daughter was a fan, and of course they weren't gonna shoot down a chance to meet a fan just bc her dad's an asshole.
i personally don't believe that snc agree with everything joe has said over the course of his career just bc they went on his show. miley cyrus went on his show once, and she's left leaning, so i highly doubt she agrees with any of his takes. i think some ppl are able to compartmentalize who he is vs what his job is. some just see him as an interviewer, which is most likely how snc see him. i'm not saying it makes it right. i'm just stating the obvious.
and i think that is also where the issue lies: a lot of fans want snc to do the right thing at all times, with no nuance. you're either doing the right thing or you're a bad person. and a lot of ppl, myself included in some regard, don't see their decisions as that. it isn't black and white, but some beg to differ. and that's where problems arise.
but again, in a perfect world, snc wouldn't collab with anyone problematic. i would love for that to be reality. but it isn't.
on top of that, the twitter fandom has an issue of constantly calling snc out, or making a mountain out of a molehill, over things that aren't important. they are the boy that cried wolf for a lot of fans outside of that space. and as someone that is online and follows and pay attention to a lot of ppl that do have the loudest voices, it's hard to take their opinions seriously when every other week they find something else to complain about.
most of which, as of recently, has been about k and m and how they're annoying. or snc are annoying for not "telling us" or confirming they're dating the girls. and it's just like… who cares.
and i know, pot meet kettle. i know i'm one to talk. but i at least do it on a site where snc aren't at. and i know it's not meant to be taken seriously. and on top of that, i know i don't know the whole picture, and i'm not owed it either. but some of these fans, loud voice or not, take it too far. and it ruins the vibes. and that's why a lot of ppl are sick of it.

In a Way That Matters
bakugo/reader
~1000ish words
cw: derealization + depersonalization
idk made this one shot a bit ago bc felt dpdr wasn’t rlly anywhere and I very much use fanfic, reading, and writing to vent/cope/whatever so idk maybe some other ppl will relate and feel less bad?? might delete this later lol bc idk how tumblr works¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Shakespeare once said: “To be, or not to be, that is the question.”
That is, in fact, the question. That has been the question since it happened. Are you, or are you not? Are you awake, or are you not? Are you alive, or are you not? Are you in a coma, in a hospital, unable to wake up, dying, dreaming, sleeping, something, or are you not?
You have been on pause since it happened. Stuck. Time, life, the you that is not you has progressed without… you. What is you? Who is you? When is you? You are living through memories while at the same time realizing that you have no memories at all. You are alive but you are dead. You are here but you are not.
Bakugo shifts in his seat and asks if you’re there. You pull yourself to the present, whatever that is, and say yeah, sorry, bit spacy today, kinda tired, nice day, isn’t it?
He stares at you. He stares at you with the same look people give when they want to ask you about it, but aren’t sure where to start because what?
Is it happening again?
Is what happening again?
The thing, he responds, crossing his arms. In truth, you knew what he meant. You just wanted to hear somebody else say it for once.
Your eyes and hands find their way to your drink. You fiddle with the straw as you find your answer.
It’s always happening, is what you come up with.
Bakugo doesn’t respond directly. He never does, not really, the way his thoughts connect to his words is about as smooth and straight as his hair. This time, his response is a grunt just loud enough to let you know you’ve been heard. His arms are still crossed as he stares at the hand twisting your straw. You wish he would be as open as you force yourself to be.
Always, he states, though you guess he meant it as a question.
Yeah.
Y’know why?
Nah.
The silence after is one you’re familiar with. He’s probably thinking, I don’t get it, what do you mean it’s all the time, are you crazy, what even is it -
What’s it like?
You squeeze the neck of the straw between your fingers. Both of you are still focused on it, on the plastic tube you’ve been crushing and bending and rolling about, like a silent agreement to not make eye contact. Maybe it’s a way to make him feel less like he’s asking personal questions. Maybe it’s a way for you to feel less naked.
Sorta thing you don’t get unless you’ve experienced it, you say, but that doesn’t feel quite right so you tack on some stuff about dreams and weed and stuff, you know?
The way his eyes squint at the cup shows he doesn’t. You hurry to fix your description.
Like, okay, you say, pausing to flex your hands, watching the tendons writhe beneath your skin. It’s like nothing’s real. Like, imagine someone’s strapped VR goggles to your head and you’re trying to make your way through the place you’re seeing, but it doesn’t exist, so, like, you’re blind but you can see at the same time. Everything’s weird - there’s this sort of disconnect. There’s this gap between you and what you’re feeling. Y’can’t think straight, either, everything’s always foggy and, oh, that’s right, your memory’s shit too. Sometimes I think I’m getting dementia. Or that I’m schizophrenic. But I’m not, I’m not crazy or anything, so don’t worry. Not that you are, or anything. I’m just - I’m not crazy. I’m not. Okay?
Bakugo nods slowly, says yeah, but they always do that. They just nod along or agree with some monosyllable, they don’t - no, they can’t say it, they can’t say: no, you’re not crazy, you don’t sound crazy. Because you do, don’t you? To someone who doesn’t understand.
You’ve stopped fiddling with the straw, instead preferring to work a massage into the palm of your hand. Bakugo has sunk lower into his seat. His arms are still crossed as he stares at the crinkly tube.
He thinks you’re crazy. He does, doesn’t he? He doesn’t believe you. He doesn’t have to say it - you can see it. You can see it in the way he won’t meet your eyes. You can see it in the crease of his brows, how they’re pinched together like they are when he’s taking an exam, trying to find the answer to some impossible question, you can see it in the way his adam’s apple bobs up and down, swallowing like he’s nervous, he’s nervous, he’s nervous, too. People always get nervous when you talk about it. They’re like, I had no idea, I didn’t know this about you, what else is she hiding, and then they treat you like a stranger because they feel like you’re one, you’re strange, you’re strange to them. You’ve become strange. He thinks you’re strange.
Bakugo, you say, though it comes out more of a mumble. He finally looks you in the eye again. He’s finally looking at you. God, he’s finally looking at you. Look at me, look at me, show I’m real. I’m real, right? He’s looking, right? Your head swims like TV static. Can static swim? Can heads?
Bakugo asks you what you were going to say. You shake your head. You blink. You blink again. Hey, he says, what were you going to say, but you don’t hear his voice, you can’t hear it, your brain can but you can’t.
Your vision’s like one of those old film reels - clack, you’re looking at his face that isn’t really a face anymore, clack, you’re looking at your hands, you can’t see the writhing anymore, clack, you look up, Bakugo’s gone.
Where is he, where is he, there’s a guy that looks like him next to you. He’s leaning down, about to sit in the cafe booth next to you, speaking words you understand yet can’t seem to hear.
It’s not Bakugo, though. He looks the same, but something inside screams he’s alien, he’s not him. But, that’s just how it is when it’s bad, isn’t it. People become objects, objects become people, and you become nothing.
Yeah, you’re fine.
Yeah, everything’s okay.
No, there’s nothing he can do.
No, you don’t need to go home.
You’re responding to questions you don’t even know are being asked. He’s holding your hand. You don’t know when his fingers first clenched around your hand, how long it’s been clenched around your fingers.
It’s bad, isn’t it, Bakugo.
It is. What is it?
You already said. He tried, he tried, didn’t he? Why keep asking? Why?
He wants you to know, he doesn’t want you to be alone.
You are alone, doesn’t he get it, you don’t want to be either, but he keeps asking and it’s so hard, Bakugo, it’s so hard. Stop asking. You can tell him what it’s like, hours, you can tell him what it’s like for hours but he will never know, he will never know what it is, he will never understand, it doesn’t matter how much you want him to, it doesn’t matter what he thinks, none of it matters.
You will never be able to explain this in a way that matters.
You tell him, that strange, invisible cushion wrapped around your head, that invisible cotton stuffed to the brim of your ears, that hand wrapped around yours.

I learned it kinda in the hard way that going on the internet everyday is not healthy.
I don't understand why people can't just accept the fact that some other people have unpopular opinion on things and they don't need to shove their thoughts up other people's throat every damn time, it's not like they said you're wrong and they're right.
People's words can hurt deeply than it might seems and impact your mental health severely.
Sometimes i felt like sh*t and i just want to cry myself to de@th, i don't really have anyone to talk to about this, my parents won't understand the struggles i'm having (literally, i only talk to them about this on a certain level bc they simply never experienced this).
I don't know what went wrong in the last couple of years since i use internet more often than before, i feel like my life isn't the same anymore...
To anyone out there, please consider if your words might hurt others before saying them out loud, there's no need to harbor hate in your heart, it will do you or anyone no good. Be kinder to others and youself ❤
Idk if this is rellevant or not, but i think tumblr is a nice place to talk abt mental health compare to other platforms bc i feel like ppl here are more accepting to those who are 'different'.

hey Ella! I wanted to get this off my chest for a while now. I really don't know how to phrase all of it in the best way but it's the fact that it's fun and more accepting to be queer online rather than real-world and I joined this fandom in 2014 because I saw how some of the one direction fans were so supportive of the LGBTQ+ community and how much love they showed them. I have always enjoyed this fandom so much and I love every single person here for being so generous and understanding towards the queer folks, it was amazing to experience so much love at least at some corner after a tiring day. and everyone at that used to support everyone no matter what they believed in, I mean het drama and fights were still there but no one at least felt so threatened whereas people are so pressed to the level that they will rip someone apart. and although harry has just got better and bolder with his expression and his love for the pride flags, at the same time now seeing how there has been a drastic change in the fandom that no longer seems like a safe place just makes me feel like throwing up. (sorry for venting I am really emotionally frustrated right now.)
i really understand :/ i gotta be honest, tho, i think the fandom tension is similar to when it was during the height of 1d's popularity, when there was a constant battle between queer and straight fans (to put it simply). i think it's a sad reality in this fandom in general, especially when it gets bigger: the majority of the new/casual fans know harry (or the other boys) from media coverage, not as who he really is. this has sadly always been the case, bc of how fucked up harry's image is created to the gp, yk. Harry Styles™️ is someone who attracts awful ppl, to put it bluntly, bc they're attracted to a womanising rockstar who'd love to fuck anything that came close. with harry, there was a brief point in time, at the start of his solo career, that the majority of his fans were the ones who loved him for who he is and stuck around to see what he'd do next. it was a smaller group, and a very queer one. his fandom is still super queer, but we get easily drowned out by the loudness of cishet thirst. that's why i ask ppl to not give up, and keep bringing those flags. bc one person doing it might motivate another to bring theirs, which might finally cause a movement like it has at louis's shows. at wembley i saw this grow already, so i know it's possible.
i hope you still find a corner of this fandom, online, to feel safe in, though. i know it can get nasty, but then i can only advise you to be strict about who you follow and what you see. i'm in a heavenly bubble here, and i see literally no discourse that might upset me. when i go on twitter, however, the algorithm shows me shit that i don't care about, so maybe that's a first step: if you're on there, limit your time. i honestly scroll to see what the ppl i know have said and then i'm out of there, bc i can't handle it. you truly, truly don't have to see what everyone's saying, have to know all the opinions this fandom has. same goes for tumblr. if you don't like what someone's posting, just unfollow. ignorance is bliss, and it doesn't make you less of a fan if you ignore the bad sides of fandom. i might argue it makes you a better one lmao. this is about you, about the thing you love. keep it all yours, don't let anyone ruin it for you!!

hey, im a new writer. can u give out some tips for writers who just started writing fics
hi! yes ofc!
when i first started writing, i kinda had one goal —> write the type of fics that i would want to read. i think that’s really important when you start writing. it keeps you going and it keeps your motivation up for writing. i think that’s the main thing when it comes to all writers.
as for actual writing tips. i would say stick to third or second person. first person kind of loses its touch now a days, especially on tumblr. it might be an aesthetic thing, but for me personally, i connect better with fics in those povs.
also try to avoid using the same words repeatedly. i read my fics out loud to myself to see how certain lines sound, and if something doesn’t sound right, i change it. there’s always an alternative way to say something if you ever find that you don’t like what you’ve written.
i would say maybe start small, with a blurb or two and get a feel for it. my very first fic on here was a silly little blurb about peter parker and y/n picking a baby name.
and also, never take yourself too seriously. at the end of the day, while i do sometimes get frustrated with the amount of notes i get, i have to remember that i’m writing for myself. nobody goes back to my masterlist and rereads things as much as i do. bc like i said, i write the type of fics that i wanna read. maybe it’s a little selfish, but my writing is tailored for me and it always will be. never ever will i write a fic that i don’t like and is purely for someone else’s enjoyment. i want ppl to read my work and enjoy it ofc, but in the end, it’s all for me.
you’re writing to be for you! never anyone else, bc this is your blog!
feel free to pm me if you have an specific questions. this is all i could come up with right now but i’d love to help you out. and also feel free to tag me when you post, id love to read what you come up with!

i think your friends are terrible people honestly like its been months i think since last year that you post here that they treat you like shit and for what? Death to them all and your roommate. I wouldve gone batshit insane if everyday i had to unwillingly wake up at 7am and hear someone chew nuts loudly. Youre strong honestly i wish you the best !! I told you this before on anon like months ago when they were still open but i just think youre lonely, maybe cause you havent found the right people to be close to yet bc your friends dont cherish you and being so far from home etc it takes a toll on someone yk. Also youre like the realest person here. When you say real and raw blogging it really is real and raw
Wow omg… like im tearing up reading this bc ur so right. And to make the roommate part worse she wakes up at 7am every day and starts studying next to me loud as hell like i could never take a break. Its always something. No yeah im def lonely asf 💀 but ive been a lonely person in general like ive held an active life online but not irl. Irl i think im pretty bad at making friends bc my personality is a lot more stand-offish, quiet, introverted etc. so im pretty used to it tbh i dont think much of it. Like im fine being lonely its just a little sad sometimes but yeah its okay… i agree with how u said i still havent found the right ppl yet bc my sense of humor and personality just doesnt match anyone ive met on this campus bruh 😭 everybodys either a bumfuck nerd or a weirdo with an attitude its harddd man but its okayyyy. I know tumblr got my back LMFAO 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤️❤️

School Shit Rant.
Ok, a little background, this story revolves around 4 ppl, let's call them A, B, C, and D. I am friends with all four, but B, C, and D have their own little friend circle thing going on. A and I, on the other hand, are like a friend duo (Idk what else to call it). A wants to be friends with B because they go to the same tuition and blah blah blah.
So, the day before yesterday, it was free in the second last period, so everyone was talking and shit. B, C, and D were sitting on my right and doing their own thing while A was on my left trying to get to talk to B abt Idk what. So, A called out to B and she said something along the lines of "Arre ab kya yaar. " Was B in a conversation...yes. Was what she said a little rude? Also, yes. A is a sensitive person, so her feelings were hurt... B didn't notice...
So A wrote a "letter" to B telling her that she and D were over dramatic (true), she wasn't going to talk to B anymore, and that B only used A for tuition stuff and marks (also true). A handed the letter to B and then went to the washroom where she told me, in brief, the situation. I came back to class and overheard B, C, and D talking (in my defense..they were being loud and sitting right behind me. I didn't mean to eavesdrop.)
They were somewhat talking shit about A and how at one point they also had their individual sob stories of how they were outcast by their friend group and so on and so forth (none of which pertained to the situation btw).
My dilemma is that what B, C, and D did was not right, but maybe even A was overreacting just a little bit. I wanna sit them all down and give them a therapy session..but it's not my place. So, Tumblr will now be a victim of my long rants. :)

When did you start using tumblr? What’d your life look like?
Well? I'm not exactly sure when I started ? But I know I had a tumblr account before I was allowed to join facebook so it was like 2009 or 2010 something like that!
That's when it was still fairly newish- tumblr was known for blogging aesthetics, writing, porn, and vent/depression blogs more than it was known for memes like it is now, but at the same time most ppl you talked to had no idea what tumblr was. Only the "cool" "edgy" ppl and those of us who kept quiet really knew about the site and it was right before the shoelaces post as well! Everybody here knew you just didn't talk about tumblr out loud.
I was a big part of the writing community here which is what actually caused me join initially, my username had the word "writest" in it (like a person who writes) I used to come up with and write stories and plays all the time! I was in middle school at the time and my goal was to finish at least one of my books my the time I graduated high school.
My writing blog was my main, I had a side blog for funny stuff, one for venting, several other side blogs for other things-- I was big into organization and keeping blog themes.
That was back when we would reblog stuff like "i know this doesn't fit my theme, but this is important!" Back when we still had to be like "reblog if you think it's okay to be gay" and shit like that.
I worked very hard to make sure nobody that knew me in person knew I had a tumblr for whatever reason and I'm so thankful my parents didn't really know what it was or they probably would have made me delete my account lol
That being said, my life was spiraling at the time honestly and has been for a while, but this place has always been a welcome home and escape to me. I did take a break for several months, but ended up coming back.
I started this particular blog a few years later in 2014~ and now I'm here forever ! (:

all your sycophants telling you to be meaner, nah youre just an asshole. did you like. even read the post in the first place. bc it doesnt look like you did?? i get that it makes you feel cool and good abt yourself to mock other ppls thinking-out-loud type posts but you basically telling them to shut up and keep their thoughts out of The Pure And Perfect Tag™ and then go on to say "oh im autistic ive never gotten the chance to rly speak up and be mean so this feels good" like..... thats so painfully hypocritical. you should KNOW how it feels to be told "shut up no one cares" so why are you doing it to someone else? so im telling you to shut up. youre annoying and no one cares and you shouldnt use other people as punching bags. asshole
did you get it out of your system. that's great. i don't really feel like giving a benefit of the doubt response anymore given after the first ask you decided to go ballistic like this... like, not even being sassy, i could have just responded "are you mad" and published it. but i am a neurotic person who will respond even if it's not in the way i initially set out to. just for you.
just for transparency, here's the first ask i got last night:
Tumblr media
hi. i think you are projecting a lot of feelings onto me that i did not express and stretching my original statements. which in some sense, some may see as understandable! i was being less than gentleman-ly! i don't know if this is the op messaging after i blocked them or a friend coming in to give me a piece of their mind, it does not matter. this is something i was gonna say even in the first ask: had i been approached for an apology, i probably would have caved and apologized, because i'm weak to that kind of thing. at the very least even if i didn't agree, i would have wholeheartedly apologized for any distress or trouble. this isn't bull or me trying to flatter my way out of a situation. the response i got— which a friend ended up reading, to be honest i just blocked right away— was thoroughly strange, something something apologizing and being like "idk tumblr tag etiquette" and choosing to delete the original post. which i would not know how to respond to. i'm not some kind of tag police or god of tumblr or whatever, so why apologize to me or delete the post. i am writing this response under the assumption that it could be someone else, but a hit dog will holler, in this one sentence i will address OP directly: that response was strange. had i read it, i would have either ignored it still or apologized, i have no idea, but initial my response really was "but i have no power over this person or anyone". i did not ask for you to clean up your contribution to a tag or police it. i simply stated my opinion on my blog when prompted by a third party expressedly out of earshot of the op. is that a morally correct thing? proooobably not. but it is the internet. "why are you, the person who got hated on, continuing the cycle of hate" type bs might as well be a self fulfilling prophecy. if you feel this way, why send me asks about it at all if you're gonna go ape over me not responding immediately? does it mean so much to you? go ahead and block. i do not argue with people online. but i'll respond because clearly you want one. not gonna prostrate myself before anyone, and respond just as coldly as you are painting me out to be. this is my special fanservice to you, since you wanted to believe that about me so badly.
>pure and perfect tag
i do not check tags for a reason. i checked it one time. i guess this implication comes off of what i said so i'll say it out clearly but i genuinely could care less past the initial pang of cringe what is in there. had nonnie not continued to converse with me i would have moved on ans forgotten about it. i am not a police or a militia. it means nothing to me most days if a tag is "good". who the hell cares. you are obsessing over my existence, my opinion and the weight of such a thing a bit too much over here.
>shut up no one cares
neeeever said this, and no one has ever said this to me. the story i recounted about being called toxic was in the youtube comments and was 5 years ago. no one told me "no one cares". it just hurt my ego. anyway, if someone cared so much to send two asks about it, then thank you. i really won't shut up.
>never got the chance to speak up and be mean
ok.
>my sycophants
it was one nonnie. are you obsessed with me or something? i am like one random ass blogger on a dying website. i do not have an army or cult of personality. i am just one guy.
>end of the ask
heard you loud and clear. thanks for the feedback, not gonna reflect on it much though. it was an asshole move. does it make me an asshole? yup.
it was catty and petty of me. i knew that much from the very first ask i answered. but op wasn't tagged, i didn't send anyone to them either, so i can only really think "what were you doing on my blog anyway". because yes, this is a blogging site, not a pvp site, i didn't engage with anyone to start fights. didn't bring op's name into it, didn't actively mock them (the comment about them not being special was ad hominem though i admit to that much. sorry.)
you cannot expect everyone to be 100% nice and handle people with kiddie gloves in their own blog space when they are not bringing you into it especially given i did not direct anyone to anyone's post.
had it been me i would have just blocked and moved on. pwease no steppy and all that. whoever sent op an ask about it to make them respond is kind of a drama obsessed weirdo lol. like i'm just saying. causing both me and op a headache. it did not have to shake out like this. neither of us were gonna engage with each other and everyone could have gone to sleep without any icky feelings. honestly, from my point of view, both of you are strange. wow, i am barely hiding who i think is behind this ask. but it really is addressed very generally.
don't send me another ask! i will just publish them with no response. this situation was entirely avoidable and i lament that you decided to both waste my time and your own with all this. just block me like i asked!
