Never forget that we (as in @icedflames @merymoonbeam @offtorivendell @mrspettyferr @dietkoke @wingedblooms @daisymydaisy @willowmeres and I’m sure others whom I’m forgetting right now) have theorized since ACOSF came out in 2021 that Truth-Teller might be used to break or unMake the Elucien mating bond.
Truly can’t wait for ACOTAR5 😭😭

Knife and Sword
Spoilers: ACOTAR and Crescent City series to date
What if we've all been misinterpreting the following prophecy:
When knife and sword are reunited, so shall our people be. You have the Starsword. What if … I don’t know. What if there’s a knife out there for me? - HOSAB, chapter 23
Some of us have previously theorised that, long term, Truth-Teller won't belong to Azriel, but - just as Ruhn claimed the Starsword/Gwydion in a trial, and wielded it physically until Bryce was able to use it magically - it may be meant for Elain instead. That, essentially, Azriel had his own sword in the stone moment with his infamous dagger, but was always fated to pass it on to Elain, who could either wield its powers or charge it with her own light? And perhaps she did, shadow walking to save Nesta and Cassian in ACOWAR?
Mor even hinted, back in ACOFAS, that Azriel may give Truth-Teller to Elain once more.
I've wondered before whether Elain could be "the shadowsinger's knife" to which Gwyn was referring, indirectly or not, in ACOSF.
There are significant links between Bryce and Elain, namely that Bryce has Theia's light, and Elain may have her Sight.
Bryce and the Archeron sisters may even be (very distantly) related.
What if it's not meant to be Bryce and Azriel fulfilling the prophecy as sword and knife, but Elain Archeron instead? This would be a massive twist.
Elain "I don't want a mate, I don't want a male" Archeron and Bryce Quinlan... do we have a new ship? 😂
Crazy? Absolutely. It's pure crack, especially as Elain hasn't had her own book yet. But who knows?

Silly ship wars aside, but HOSAB has confirmed that Truth Teller is at the very least a Made weapon. It might be even more than that, but considering how Starsword reacted to the presence of TT, we know that like calls to like, and they are at minimum both magical weapons.
Now, if we are to believe Amren, who stated that  Made objects are sentient, communicate with their carries in various manner, and are able to appear/disappear at will, whenever it’s convenient, then, I think it’s safe to assume that TT in fact TOLD Azriel to give it to Elain. It wasn’t a random act of care on Azriel’s part (though I think it played a role), but, again, if like calls to like, TT probably knew that only a Made person can actually wield it and it actually CHOSE Elain for the task of killing the King.
Now, what it also means, is that Azriel is likely also a Made being of some kind. As we recall, when Nesta made her weapons and Ataraxia especially, everyone was warned not to touch it. Even Rhys. It was imbued with so much magic, only she could carry it, and it actually killed a Death God.
Now, does that remind you of anyone else? A person who carries a mysterious dagger and doesn’t allow anyone else to touch it? Let alone handle it? How is it that only 2 others were able to touch TT--Elain and Nesta--and both are Made. Yet, somehow, this strange ‘bastard’ of some lord and a camp servant came upon a Made dagger AND is able to wield it, knows of its magic and that it will ‘always strike true’, doesn’t let anyone else touch it until he gives it to a 24 year old flower enthusiast, who proceeds to murder an ancient Fae King with it.
Yep, sounds totally unimportant and random to me.

Enough about ship wars or wondering who’s pov we’ll get in ACOTAR6
Bryce is the only one that’s asking the right questions
SPOILER HOFAS
.
.
• How come TT, a literal legendary blade, that belonged to Fionn himself is in Azriel’s possession?
Tumblr media
But most importantly
WHAT DOES AZ KNOW THAT WE DON’T? who’s Enalius??
Tumblr media
Mr. I never lose at cards cause Lady Gaga wished she had my poker face “let out a small noise of shock” and we don’t talk about it?
I think he figured something out. He connected the dots. I also think it goes back to the time he spent working for Rhysand’s father. We know he wanted to keep Rhys, Cass and Azriel apart because he was scared of how powerful they were together, he sent his own son away but kept Azriel cause he knew how rare and precious his set of skills is. I can’t wait to see how working for him affected azriel but also what he learned in the meantime.

"As if the city view held some answer." On visions, heartbeats through stone, and the Dusk Court.
I'm but a procrastinating engineering student so this is going to be a bit of a messy post/theory, but here we go.
HOFAS spoilers:
Others have probably already theorized about this, but we know that Bryce ended up giving back TT and handing the Starsword (Gwydion) to the acotar folks... could it be that the Gwydion is destined to be Elain's? Or used by Elain, perhaps in the revival of the Dusk court? After all, as @bright-side20 and others have pointed out we already know that she likely accessed TT's powers in acowar (stepping out of a shadow to kill Hybern; if I am not mistaken TT leaked a darkness that even Az was surprised to witness in HOFAS).
sidenote: if you are curious about the link between Avallen & the Dusk court, I encourage everyone to go read this theory/breakdown!
Could this also be why the fact that Elain returned TT (which was an obvious action) was emphasized in ACOFAS, where SJM said she planted seeds for future bookS? Cause I find it interesting that it is Mor of all people that hums pensively as she points out that Elain gave TT back to Azriel: does she know/sense something with that power of hers? Does Elain perhaps See something too, given that she supposedly moved away from it very assuredly? After all, Mor was the one to say that "there is a reason that Elain is seeing these things" (acowar).
ALSO... I believe it's been pointed out already that the heartbeat through the stone that elain famously heard in acowar could have been a literal "beating, vibrant heart locked away far beneath"; i.e. the heart of the Dusk court (hofas). I find it all the more interesting, then, that Gwydion is described to have its light like a heartbeat (paraphrased from hofas, I dont remember the exact quote).
After all, it is looking away from Lucien, towards the windows, that she tells him--or rather, appears to be telling him:
“When I sleep,” she murmured, “I can hear your heart beating through the stone.” She angled her head, as if the city view held some answer. “Can you hear mine?” “He wasn’t sure if she truly meant to address him, but he said, “No, lady. I cannot.”
I repeat:
as if the CITY VIEW held some answer.
What if it did? And what if that answer is found in Gwydion's light and/or the Dusk court's beating heart?
In fact, what else do we know happens (or happened in acowar at least) when she sleeps? Visions, most likely: before she gained the understanding she needed to free herself from the murky-realm she was trapped in (thanks to my man Az), she was lost in a dream-like state. And those dreams often including the trashing sea...
"I can see so very far now. All the way to the sea." Indeed, the sea beyond the Sydra was a distant sparkle. (...) “I can hear your heartbeat—if I listen carefully. I can hear her heartbeat, too.” (who is her? is she hearing her sisters' literal heartbeats, or someone/something else's?)
“I can hear the sea. Even at night. Even in my dreams. The crashing sea—and the screams of a bird made of fire.”
These quotes have been dissected countless times already, but what I'd really like to add to the conversation is that there is something interesting from a passage from HOFAS I referenced earlier:
“And in that moment, the mountain—the island—spoke to her. Alone. It was so alone—it had been waiting all this time. Cold and adrift in this trashing grey sea. If she could reach out, if she could open her heart to it… it might sing again. Awaken. There was a beating, vibrant heart locked away, far beneath them. If she freed it, the land would rise from its slumber, and such wonders would spring again from its earth (…)”
I am about to make the mother of all reaches (call me delulu idc idc), but all this talk about Elain being “blooming spring” and “a promise of spring”… and here we have a slumbering, barren Island (not unlike the way she herself has been forgotten, has been lost in dreams) in the trashing sea (crashing sea, anyone?) which could spring anew.
Just to wrap this up, you cant tell me that this passage isn't extremely Elain "gentle-grower-of-life" Archeron coded:
Dusk, twilight—that’s what the island was in its long-buried heart, what her power bloom into, the lands rising with it. It was, as she said, as if the island had a soul that now blossomed under her care, nurtured by the court she built here.
-------
Voila :) Hopefully I didnt get things mixed up and this made at least a little bit of sense. Ok so done with my procrastination and now back to thermodynamics (send help)(please).

HOFAS SPOILERS -
More on Gwydion, Fionn, and Truth Teller
I was kicking around this idea yesterday but now I think I've solidified my thoughts on it and changed my mind on a few things. .
Tumblr media
"It's why the Starsword calls to the descendents of Helena - of Theia". But only those with enough of Theia's starlight to trigger its power."
We can almost guarantee Rhys is a descendent of Theia through Silene.
And Mor is Rhys's cousin, her family having ruled the North long before his family, even before the prison was created which means she could be as well, Mor who has golden hair as did Theia:
Tumblr media
Based on what we now know, Gwydion did originally belong to Fionn and at the time it was a symbol of the first High King. Truth Teller once belonged to Enaulis (his friend), which Fionn wore at his side after his death. However once Theia took the weapons from Fionn after his death, she "made" the Starsword and Truth Teller with her light which is why only her female descendents can use it at its full power (which I think is telling us that it has to go to someone other than Nesta despite it being in her possession, she is not a descendent of Theia).
Az was able to use it at one point only because he was the keeper of Truth Teller and the blades have a desire to be close to one another.
Theia was not necessarily the heroine as she was made out to be in Crescent City and Gwydion no longer represents a "saviors" light so it belonging in the possession of someone who is both light (a characteristic of Mor) and bloodthirsty (which Rhys mentions her as being) is a good fit. Light and Dark - a combination of the two being Twilight or Dusk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do still think Bryce leaving Nesta the lands of the Prison, Bryce's birthright, is setting us up for it becoming Valkyrie territory, where they'll possibly remain as defenders of the portal that seems to exist there, and as Mor expressed interest in training with the Valkyrie in SF and we're given hints she'll not be staying in the NC, the pieces seem to fall into place for her to end up living there if they all found a way to bring it back from its current state. It seems the monsters in the Prison are the cause for the land around it dying so by eliminating the current inhabitants, it's possible for it to again become what it once was.
And I think that whoever else is a descendent of Fionn & Theia could still be a contender of the High King plot if SJM goes that route. A lot of focus is placed on the bloodline of the females who contain Theia's light however not much is said of what Fionn's bloodline was capable of (if anything) or whether there are male or female descendants who show hints of his power.
Or if they simply realizing that they are a descendent, it could somehow lead to a course correction of history, where the land that died as a result of his death will be restored, a land I believe to be the Bog of Oorid.
We're told Fionn's general Pelias had red hair and Fionn had golden hair. We're also told they once went hunting in the lands in the middle, where Oorid lies and to me that indicates Fionn was possibly not of NC descent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So maybe there is still something there to connect Lucien to the High King plot considering he is not only descended from Autumn Court but connected to the lands of Spring through the Rite and has Day powers through Helion which may or may not somehow connect to the "bright light" part of Theia's light versus the darker lights of Silene and Helena (her daughters).
Rhys could be connected to the High King plot through Silene and Fionn as well however, Amren tells us that the Cauldron's benevolence may extend itself to another if he rejects his birthright.
Truth-Teller
I do believe that if Mor were meant to have Gwydion it could provide an explanation for Az struggling to let go of Mor.
If Truth Teller has been longing to reconnect with the sword for 15,000 years it would make sense that Az would find himself pulled to Mor if TT recognized her as a descendent of Theia's daughter. It was not necessarily Az himself being pulled to her but him being influenced by the dagger to some degree.
It does not seem that Gwyn will end up with Gwydion, she doesn't seem to be descended from Theia or her daughters as her heritage is not that of the Night Court. But Gwydion and Truth Teller want to be together.
What if Az takes the dagger Nesta made (as it was in their possession again at the end of SF) and he gives Emorie Truth Teller to keep?
It's poetic, not only if she and Mor are endgame, but because Truth Teller originally belonged to Enaulis. A female Illyrian ending up with the dagger of an original Illyrian hero is girl power at its finest.

THEORY TIME, MY DUDES
I'm rereading crescent city and Ruhn is talking about the starsword and the knife, which we know to be Truth Teller. The prophecy says, "When knife and sword are reunited, so shall our people be." (Page 458). I think the people being reunited is going to play a role in the High King plot. I think somehow the two weapons are going to come together which will finally unite all of Prythian, maybe all the Fae territories.

Thinking about Iphraxia
Yes, I inhaled the HOFAS prologue and chapter one Sarah posted to her new site yesterday... and a couple things have been itching my brain since (and making thinking about anything other than release day impossible).
Safe to say we're hitting the ground RUNNING. Poor bb Ruhn. But some through lines and well... associations made by both proximity and repetition that have me (tentatively) very excited about a BIG hope I've had. One I'm not alone in.
🚨 HOFAS PROLOGUE + CHAPTER 1 SPOILERS 🚨
I have also not read the book in its entirety yet. This is just me spewing nonsense. Please don't reply/comment with any spoilers if you have read all of HOFAS. I've waiting two years for this! Just feeding my spinning brain until Monday night.
WHAT A FIRST CHAPTER! I have so many thoughts spinning about the info dumps we get - and awesome confirmations like Daglan = Asteri + Cormac shadows = Azriel shadows. Good work team!
But I'll be honest, I'm looking for any and all crumbs for a TOG connection... and this one just wouldn't stop irking me.
Tumblr media
So, I'll begin with Bryce's lies. She spells out for us that, honestly, she's never had too hard a time deceiving folks by playing into what they wanted to see from her: a ditzy party girl incapable of scheming. We've spent two books, and many years, peeling back Bryce's layers, only to discover she's even more capable, more selfless, more calculating than we ever could have guessed. Even where we're guided largely by her POV. Queen. Aelin would be proud.
That gift we've seen honed over time... lasts all of two seconds in the presence of Rhys, Amren, and Azriel. But specifically, it seems, Azriel.
Now I'll fearlessly reference the cursed Azriel bonus chapter from ACOSF...
"“I..." He watched her swallow. She clutched a small gift in her hands. "I was coming to leave this on your pile of presents. I forgot to give it to you earlier."   Lie. Well, the second part was a lie. He didn't need his shadows to read her tone, the slight tightening of her face. She'd waited until everyone was asleep before venturing back down, where she'd leave her gift amongst his other, opened presents, subtle and unnoticed." A Court of Silver Flames, Azriel Bonus Chapter
So we have Azriel referencing, perhaps, his shadows' abilities to detect lies. They can also hear the Cauldron sing in ACOWAR, so why not expand their extra sensory capabilities? Rhys and Cassian have even confessed to not really understanding the full scope of Azriel's powers... so naturally we're not entirely sure all that he's capable of either.
Azriel's also the Night Court's spy master and in this scene with Elain, he defaults to those skills he's mastered over time in lieu of his shadows' guidance. So, language barrier or not, Azriel might just be able to read Bryce, as she points out herself. We love a male fluent in body language, amirite?
But humor me for a sec, we've had two years since the crossover was announced to kind of side eye the fact that Azriel's blade is call Truth Teller - which is now front and center in the overarching plot and specifically this chapter. And for the TOG readers among us... we couldn't help but notice we've had an actual truth telling blade before: Damaris.
Azriel's sort of alluded to legend about his blade's abilities - mostly that it'll strike true. But we've never really confirmed if he's able to use it like a lie detector as Dorian does with Damaris in TOG.
And the specificity of couching the language barrier issue (pre-magic bean lol) alongside references to Truth Teller pretty consistently in this very first chapter has me 👀
In the scene above, Bryce is immediately curious about how Azriel could react to what she'd said if he couldn't understand her and the laugh/Rhys' surprise when Azriel clarifies leads me to believe he didn't need to know what she was saying to be informed it was BS.
Of course, again, pre-bean, Rhys is likely mind speaking translation for Azriel in the second instance in particular. But he's still relying on Azriel wholly to confirm truth or not prior to moving on. And Rhys doesn't question Azriel's response - at least no audibly.
And I'm just saying, we know Azriel is currently holding onto Truth Teller.
Tumblr media
Azriel, being the primed warrior that he is, is sitting and lying in wait for some shit to go down the whole time. So when Bryce has a bad reaction to the magic bean (lol sorry I will never stop teasing), before she can get her bearings she's already slammed down by Azriel's shadows, dagger drawn.
The fact that we can assume he's been holding Truth Teller, ready to strike, makes the shock at the blade's reaction to Bryce sans Starsword all the more interesting. When Amren is like, "Dude why do you even have that thing with you and close to her?" Azriel kind of bashfully winnows it away. Amren's ellipses there is suspect as hell too, but that's for another time (or the rest of this book).
Anyway, if we pretend that Truth Teller is displaying some Damaris type traits, then the other details we're getting in close proximity to the blade's discussion are worth a second glance as well (in my humble opinion). Also, want to note that I'm aware that TT is a dagger and Damaris is a sword. I don't think they're necessarily the same or from the same ore. That's for SJM to explain lol.
Tumblr media
Anyway, as Bryce is selectively explaining her/the universe's predicament, Truth Teller comes up again. But first I wanted to pause on the "only three planets that were able to kick [the Asteri] out." While I'm fully open to this being a little different than we have been theorizing - we've come to speculate that Hel is one planet and the Starborn Fae planet is where Prythian is located. This leaves the third successful planet: Iphraxia.
A quick reminder what we know about Iphraxia:
Tumblr media
So the Iphraxia events happen 16,323 years prior to conquering of Midgard and many have speculated this planet could house Erilea and our beloved TOG crew.
I've always side eyed the use of the word "denizens" because it can either mean "an inhabitant or occupant of a particular place," or "a foreigner allowed certain rights in the adopted country." Rigelus alludes to the Asteri encouraging planets to come and conquer others, never realizing those who opened the doors were the true masters. In that case, Asteri referring to a group like the Valg as denizens would also make quite a bit of sense to me.
Maeve fights in Erilea's first wars - granted she manipulates the hell out of them - but she confirms at one point that she just wants to have her kingdom in peace (an evil kingdom) and that she's been running from Big Bads for a long time. She is of course Valg - not native to that world - and is not on Erawan's team to start. But it becomes very clear by KOA that we're all playing checkers and Maeve - a world walker - is playing chess. Then of course we have a group of stranded, vengeful gods who want to return to their family/world... but were left behind in a hasty evacuation perhaps? Of course when Aelin shuts the gates, they're presumably lost forever, but that chapter would have come long after Maeve originally fought back against Erwan who believes that planet was his to command... motivated by that world's larger forces perhaps.
^ This is why I shouldn't have procrastinated my TOD and KOA rereads... the details are not as sharp as they should be. But that is the general essence of things.
Anyway, returning to the reference to Iphraxia and the grounding connection Truth Teller is being set up to be has my TOG IS COMING alarms blaring.
Of course this chapter ends with the horn tattoo on Bryce's back being exposed and Amren confirming it's similarity to the Book of Breathings... a book we know landed in Midgard along with TOG's Walking dead in Jesiba's library... and written in markings we can pretty confidently say are wyrdmarks. And you know what crew of folks are crackerjack at reading wyrdmarks? :)
Anyway, I think TOG officially entering the crossover is imminent and with this line of thinking re: timeline... it might not actually separate the TOG timeline as far back as we've been predicting it might be (like in the very far past).
All I know is that I've had great fun over the years reading people's analysis of first lines and first chapters of books actually providing you with everything you actually need to know/can expect from the book. Sarah is actually pretty great at doing this so in our proper chapter one (not the prologue but sure why not) we're hitting a couple of beats pretty repetitively and I can't help but feel it's priming TOG's reentry for us.
That being said, can't wait to be proven wrong in just THREE FREAKING DAYS!!! Unless Walmart stops lying to me and actually delivers my book as early as it's claiming it will.

We know that every time a rose is name in ACOTAR it has to do with elain. Her mental shields are rose petals that are close ; the smell of roses shows that elain is close and we also know rose pink is elain color
In this post they may be spoilers
We know SJM aka the queen loves mythology and russia folklore so in a lot of her book we see this 2 take place in a lot of the plot
Tumblr media
In the picture above we can see that roses were a symbol of secret in greek mythology . We also know that elain has the thing of secret keeping like azriel this was point out in ACOSF by Feyre
Tumblr media
On ACOWAR feyre sees elain mental shields: buds with thorns ,a flower that has not bloom yet elain has not reach her potential but she will and her power and herself will growth
Tumblr media
In the cover of ACOWAR we see the truth teller like is stabbing two forces one looks like shadows the other one looks like smoke in a form of a rose. Does this mean that after elain and azriel had their heart break their love is possible?
Tumblr media
The thorns come first and at the end we have the result of a flower “after overcoming difficulty, you will find inner harmony , union and happiness “. Roses also represent lovely beauty
Elain is a thing of secret ,lovely beauty.

Journal Entry 05/19/2013
Man rose to become a highly intelligent and intellectual being with the capabilities to feel and express the capabilities to feel and express emotion. With that it created an insatiable thirst for knowledge. We were now capable of asking the why question and form not just a hypothesis, but an answer.
Scientists, mathematicians, scholars, professors, painters, writers, entrepreneurs... the list is endless. Yet, here we are living with the world we have created and I have to say that for such an advanced species we really are slow. We have created things that allow us to work more and faster. Instead of being on the forefront of invention, we are at the forefront of destruction. We don't save the planet, we deplete and destroy. We are all fueled by greed and the ones who sit at the top take from us what isn't rightfully theirs.
I am tired of taking and needing and wanting. We got the dream of freedom all wrong. If we keep going like we are then we are signing a death certificate for our entire species.

It was obvious. Always.
You know, with every new book, the fandom is abuzz with speculations, up to its eyeballs with theories, and I think it's great, because it's very satisfying to watch something you guessed correctly come to pass.
But, for me--and I love canon and I love being able to support my claims with words from the books--nothing still beats one small, fleeting moment in an interview. One sentence. Five words.
I. Thought. It. Was. Obvious.
The confused face of SJM, when she was asked 'who is the next book about'. 'I thought it was obvious?" she answered. This interview took place shortly after the release of ACOSF.
In her mind, when things were fresh and new, she felt that she had placed enough hints and enough scenes and enough foreshadowing to lead us, the readers, to an 'obvious' conclusion. And the ONLY obvious conclusion is Elain and Azriel. Elucien could never be called 'obvious', especially not after ACOSF and Lucien "I am not always here to see my mate' Vanserra. Just as obvious, is that Gwynriel was...not obvious at all. :)
It has been obvious since then. Azriel's reactions to any threat towards Elain. Shadows coiled like snakes, ready to strike.
Do you want children?
It doesn't matter what I want.
It's like he's given up. After 500 years, he's given up (Mor).
What about Mor?
What if the Cauldron was wrong?
What happened to Elain?
You'd know, Cass. If she were dead, you'd know.
The secret that Azriel had and that Nesta understood.
The sadness. The avoidance. The torment. The anger.
The offer and permission (which, frankly, are just cherries on top, and aren't even needed to confirm the obvious).
It's always been obvious. If you wanted to see it. And no, SJM did 'not change her mind'. She had peppered the book with hints and said 'I thought it was obvious' maybe a month after the release.
There's never really been anything to debate.
The moment Feyre asked 'Why not make them mates?" you had to have known that Elucien is not going to go anywhere.
The moment Azriel uttered 'I am getting her back' you had to have known that he was going after his woman.
The moment he offered her Truth Teller, wrapped her hand over the hilt and sent her off, you had to have known that they power shared.
The moment Mor found a small box in the pile of gifts and Elain said 'oh, it's from me' you had to have known that she also had feelings for Azriel by then.
Crumb after crumb. Drip after drip. All the moments that made up Elriel and its foreshadowing over the course of four books.
There is no Gwynriel. There is no Elucien. There is only Elriel.
I thought it was obvious.

I’ve seen several posts lately about the deep significance of Elain being given Truth Teller by Azriel in ACOWAR, including this one, and I agree, it’s a huge green flag for Elriel.
But equally important is the fact that she was able to wield it. I have a theory that that fact alone may point to a deep bond between Azriel and Elain.
Spoilers for CC1/2
We know truth teller and the Starsword are twins and presumably have the same powers and limitations. Crescent City 1 has a huge emphasis on only those with Starborn lineage who have been deemed worthy being able to wield the Starsword.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is potentially supported by the fact that Azriel hasn’t ever given it to anyone - maybe he knew they wouldn’t be able to wield it.
But there’s also a passage from CC which explains that magical objects can also be activated by the essence of someone worthy to wield it.
Tumblr media
We can only assume that Azriel is of the Stabrorn lineage too, which is why he wields Truth Teller. But what if Elain is also able to wield it because she and Azriel do share a bond, giving her a piece of his essence in her that Truth Teller responds to?
