Lets make something clear Elucien and Nessian have nothing in common. Elain is not treating Lucien the same way Nesta treated Cassian. Elain words and actions align, Nesta didn’t. Nesta said she hated Cass but them she literally put herself in front of the king of hybern and him and defended him in front of all the high lords. She talked like she hated him but acted like she loved him. Elain has never done anything similar when it come to Lucien she doesn’t hate him has never say so but has declared that she doesn’t wish to be his mate. The actions align because she tries to avoid him at all costs. Elucien would be similar to Nessian if elain said she doesn’t want to be with Lucien but then blushes when he is around, can’t take her eyes away from his or shows any type of caring for his well being like nesta when amren had to assured her that Cassian was fine because she was dead worry.

In conclusion Elain has not given us any signs she genuinely cares for Lucien the way Nesta did plus nesta treated cassian worst than elain treats lucien to tried to hide her feelings for cass. Elain has not, she has just show to be uninterested with words and actions

Elain, at least, would be too polite to send Lucien away when he wanted to help. She was too polite to send him away on a normal day. She just ignored him or barely spoke to him until he got the hint and left.

“You’re welcome to stay for the night,” I said, since Elain certainly wasn’t going to.

Lucien lowered his hands into his lap and leaned back in the armchair. “Thank you, but I have other plans.” I prayed he didn’t catch the slightly relieved glimmer on Elain’s face.

I handed Elain the small box with her name on it. Her smile faded as she opened it. “Enchanted gloves,” she read from the card. “That won’t tear or become too sweaty while gardening.” She set aside the box without looking at it for longer than a moment.

Elain, the wretch, had taken the seat between Feyre and Varian, about as far from Lucien as she could get.

He and Lucien did not exchange gifts, though the male had brought a gift for Feyre and one for his mate, who barely thanked him after opening the pearl earrings.

Cassian’s heart strained at the pain etching deep into Lucien’s face as he tried to hide his disappointment and longing. Elain only shrank further into herself, no trace of that newfound boldness to be seen.

Yes, me too. And one in the way in Creative Writing. I can only imagine that a lot of people reading SJM work is in Eng Lit circle.

But you will not see me using my degree to reinforce my interpretation of a book. Because during college, you learn that your interpretation of a text is exactly that: only your interpretation, based mostly in your experiences and personal views. And everybody’s perception is equally as valid as yours, degree or no degree.

We learn to never assume what is the writer’s intention, cause guess what? That’s intentional fallacy. You will never know what are the intentions of the author, unless they tell you. You can only again, and I can’t express this enough, make assumptions based on your individual interpretation.

There’s a theses by Roland Barthes called “The death of the author.” Meaning, when you are evaluating/analyzing any piece of literature, you should forget the author and focus on the piece itself. The art itself is alive and tells a story on its own, and when the artist creates and gives it to the world, this beautiful thing is alive for us to take it and interpret as we all see it individually. The birth of a reader must be at the cost of the death of the author. We should not use the presumed intentions of an author to explain some ultimate meaning of a text (I’m looking at you, SJM’s Pinterest account from 2015 screenshot that circulates every couple of weeks)

So please, don’t use your degree as a certificate to weight your personal opinion of a text like is some universal truth. Specially in a book about fairies doing the nasty.

So I have news (?) to share.

I had already said that one of my friends was reading ACOTAR, and she finished ACOSF yesterday.

By the way she’s totally a casual reader she is not in the fandom in any way.

Having said that, I asked her back when she was reading ACOWAR what couples she thought were gonna get together, and she said Nessian and Elriel. Then she read ACOFAS and was totally fan-girling over the headache powder scene (I hadn’t told her anything, didn’t influence her in any way lol). Now she finished ACOSF and said this:

I showed her the bonus chapters just in case her opinion changed but it didn’t budge. All she told me was that she was so excited for Elriel because now they can’t be together and it will hit harder lol.

In conclusion, Elriel endgame is very obvious and is EXPECTED because SJM wanted it to be.

Yeah gurl cause Elain doesn’t want her “mate" elriels are elain stans first we ship Elain with the person she has show interest not with the guy she loose her new found confidence. No elain is not secretly in love with Lucien if she was there would be some signs like she blushes when he is around or people noticing something between elucien but nothing like this is happening in the books. Oh wait it does happens with elriel.

People disliking Elain just because they don’t relate with her is not misogynistic however when they start talking about they only interest that Elain has is in being lucien mate or that you dont like that she is calm and quiet but then love azriel for it that is misogynistic

We elriels don’t hate people that are not interested in elain I personally understand how other people may not find her interesting and I respect that but there is also people who hate on elain hard for the same reason they love Azriel. Eluciens love elain until the day she chose Azriel then what? The amount of passive aggressive comments I have read from eluciens about elain is insane because really their love from elain comes to whatever or not she will make lucien happy that is misogynistic. I have read multiple times this “elain history have nothing exciting unless you care about elucien” and is always comes from eluciens that claim to care about elain.

Some antielriels are very misogynistic and it is what it is. It doesn’t come because some don’t like our ship but because they hate Elain for reasons they love other male characters and because they hold other male characters happiness on Elain shoulder.
