six geese a-laying, FIVE GOLDEN RINGS! four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree

on the day 5 poll for what to do with the rings, "THROW IT AWAY" won at 30.9% as of drawing this, so great choice everybody! The authorities (manwe's pet geese) have been alerted and the rings have been disposed of.

Exercise Fic Recs 21

Sorry I’m a bit late posting this, I just got back from watching ATSV. It’s just as good and everyone has been shouting about and I don’t know why it took me so long to getting around to watching the movies. Anyway, on to the fics!

The Only by pasdecoeur (Superbat, complete. Felt like being a little sad, so I read this fic again. Bittersweet, read the tags.)

how many roads less traveled? by TopHat (Superwonderbat, complete. Polyamory negotiations between the trinity. Very sweet, features ace Bruce.)

be my kryptonite by renecdote (Superbat, complete. Clark has a sensory overload, Bruce helps.)

They had a pastry with lemon curd on it, I couldn’t resist!

It was so rainy this morning! It pretty much rained the entire time I was birding. Got so cool pictures though!

The baby geese, they are growing up! They are looking more and more like adult geese everyday:

Wasn’t able to get a good picture of this guy, but it’s a brown thrasher! This is the second time I’ve seen him running around the area:

Look at this funky lil’ guy! A grackle! They were so fun to watch:

There were SO MANY swallows out flying around. They kept flying around me, they were so much fun to watch! And they’re SO PRETTY too. I tried to take some pictures of them in flight, but it’s SO HARD. This one is ok, I need to practice more. This guy is a barn swallow:

This is also a red-winged blackbird, but a female! She caught breakfast! This is probably my favorite picture I took today:

When I got to the arboretum, some tree swallows were flying around! Here are the best pictures I got of them midflight:

There’s also a big flock of goldfinches that hangout here too! I thought this guy looked handsome:

This white-breasted nuthatch was having fun hopping around on this tree:

OMG. I didn’t realize this until I got home, but these are juvenile eastern bluebirds!! Wow!!!

This has a parent and a baby!! Holy moly!!

An indigo bunting in the rain. I think my lens was starting to fog up:

Re the previous post, while it's a touching scene for sure, the part at the end of s3 when quentin tells his dad he's off to try to bring back magic and likely won't come back (due to spending the rest of his life in monster jail) actually drives me nuts. the part where he tells his dad about the mosaic, "I lived a whole life," and then says "what was all that for if not for this?" drives me around the bend because because because. You have missed the whole point Quentin! The beauty of all life Quentin! Even ignoring the queliot of it all, you had a wife and a kid and a whole life and you think it's only worth was to make it easier for you to give away the life you have now? there's a Lois McMaster Bujold line about people getting hypnotized by the hard choices sometimes, like whatever the hardest thing is, that must be the right one to do, regardless of all other context. What is the value of bringing back magic, to Quentin? What makes the sacrifice of himself and his father worth it? And in s4, when it doesn't go as planned because of the library and he clearly feels that it was wasn't worth it... Julia is content with her sacrifice, Quentin is not. And I don't think he would be even once the library was gone, because whatever he thought the quest was going to make him, it turned into just another secret door to run through and be disappointed when he found himself on the other side.

it's actually pretty cute cuz i think i'm getting my sweetie to sit outside with me for her mental health and she thinks she's coming out w me to support MY mental health and as a result we get to enjoy the beautiful trees and the robins yelling and sometimes ID a new bird just sitting outside

it's hard for me and her for different reasons but i think we both need the green time and it's a lot easier to do it when it's a shared activity. we're currently working on like. "okay we only have to stay out there for 10 minutes and then we can go in if we want to"

but like once we're out there it's so nice we don't really want to go back in until we're just way too cold or my migraine (from the sunlight) becomes too unbearable. it's nice out there!!

#there's a really big shared green space behind the house and there are trees with blossoms on visible from our back door #and soooooo many birds #kind of hard to hear some of them bc the robins LOVE to tell us ALLLLLLL their feelings but we've id'ed a bunch just at our house!!#which feels extremely cozy cuz it's like oh hi pine siskin!! hi little junco!! we know who you are!!#Also #THERE ARE DUCKS #SO MANY DUCKS #there's a pond nearby and we can hear them quacking a lot #also canada geese!!#we are literally so extraordinary lucky to have gotten into this place #updates on my boring life
