@arwenindomiel TOLKIEN SOUTH ASIAN WEEK 2022 | DAY SEVEN: ALTERNATE UNIVERSE [1/5]
SAMREEN GAMGEE was the second-youngest daughter of Hassan ‘Nana’ Gamgee and Beli Habib, and grew up alongside her five siblings in the village of Hobbiton, outside London. Inspired by her father’s career as Hobbiton Council’s head gardener, she intended to begin her Environmental Geosciences Bsc in October 2023 at UCL. However, she set her aspirations aside when she decided to help her lifelong friend Frodo Baggins ensure that R.I.N.G., a dangerous piece of code created by the mysterious Eye organisation, would not fall into the wrong hands. Fearless and gentle, she stopped at nothing to ensure the safety of her friend and, by extension, the world as a whole. Eventually, after successfully defending her PhD thesis in Environmental Geopolitics, she married her childhood sweetheart Rosie Cotton, and was elected mayor of Hobbiton for three consecutive terms.
Image description under the cut.
[ID: A four-row, eight-picture picspam featuring Samreen “Sam” Gamgee, a brown hijabi woman. The first picture of row 1 depicts a pair of hands dirty with rich, brown earth, delicately setting down a green seedling alongside other similarly small plants. The second picture of row 1 shows a group of cacti, all different shapes and sizes, against a white wall. The first picture of row 2 shows Samreen reading a book, lying down on the floor, wrapped in a shawl. It is in black-and-white and the superimposed text reads “Samreen ‘Sam’ Gamgee”. The second picture of row 2 shows a black messenger bag next to a small plant pot, light from a nearby window slanting across it. The first picture of row 3 shows a brown woman fixing her hijab from the back. The hijab is greyish-blue, and the person is wearing a black sweater and carrying a white bag. The image next to it is of some plants in beakers. The beakers are clouded, probably from perspiration from the plants themselves, and have notes written on them though the condensation makes it hard to read them. The first image of row 4 is of a dark-grey street sign that reads “Welcome to Hobbiton” in golden lettering. The last image of the set is one of Samreen, this time in colour. She is smiling and looking downwards, and is wearing her hijab loosely over her head, halfway through putting it on. The superimposed text is the Bengali transliteration of her given name, “সামরীন“. Tolkien Fandom Event Calendar
Recently I’ve received some asks about events/weeks in the Tolkien fandom, so I thought I’d compile a list of those that I know about. This is not exhaustive, and dates are subject to change by the organizers of these events!
Other blogs you can check out are @tolkieneventsblog and @tolkienfandomevents, though I’m not sure how active those are. The @silmarillionwritersguild Discord also has a channel dedicated to signal boosts for all sorts of Tolkien-related & general fandom happenings, which is another excellent way to keep up with fandom goings-on.
Want to run your own event? Here’s some of my tips!
If your event is not on here and you’d like it to be, let me know and I can add it :) Note: I will only add events that have announced dates!

@arwenindomiel‘s tolkien south asian week day 4 | men + portraits | eowyn
All your words are but to say: you are a woman, and your part is in the house. But when the men have died in battle and honour, you have leave to be burned in the house, for the men will need it no more. But I am of the House of Eorl and not a serving-woman. I can ride and wield blade, and I do not fear either pain or death.
- J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King
[ID: A set of four graphics for Eowyn. The main colour is orange.
1: A woman wearing an orange gown (an Anarkali). She has light brown skin and dark brown hair and is put in front of a pale orange background. Behind her are three frames, two containing separate images (an old pakistani painting of a woman in a white dress, the other a photograph of men riding holding spears), the third framing the woman’s head. The image also contains text reading “Eowyn” in capital letters as well as “Lady of Rohan, fair and cold like a morning in spring” and “ a white flower standing straight and proud, shapely as a lily, yet knew that it was hard, as if wrought by elf-wrights out of steel “, both being LotR quotes describing Eowyn
2: Horses on a grassy plain. There’s text reading “ As she passed the doors she turned and looked back. Grave and thoughtful was her glance, as she looked on the king with cool pity in her eyes. [...] but strong she seemed and stern as steel, a daughter of kings” This is another LotR quote
3: A woman gazing through an intricately carved window. This image too contains a quote, reading “Alone Eowyn stood before the doors of the house at the stair's head; the sword was set upright before her, and her hands were laid upon the hilt. She was clad now in mail and shone like silver in the sun
4: The last graphic has the same layout as image 1. This time, the woman in the Anarkali stands with her back turned, and the images in the two frames show an oriel in a white stone building, and a pakistani traditional painting of a man on a horse, holding a spear. The text on this graphic reads “Eowyn” again, “A lady high and valiant, and has herself won renown”, and “who knows what she spoke in the darkness, alone, in the bitter watches of the night, when all her life seemed shrinking”

These are my unprompted ideas for Tweek and Craig centric episodes of South Park:
1. Tweek and Craig offer couples counseling to other kids at recess.
- would definitely be more of a subplot but I can totally see Stan going to them for help with Wendy
- imagine them both dressed up in button up shirts and little ties, and reading glasses, like therapists
- also had an idea where Stan goes to them because the asian girls decided to draw yaoi of him and Kyle, and he's asking them what he should do about it.
- "Here's the thing Stan. The Asian girls don't draw Yaoi of just anyone. The Asian girls observe, and draw couples, not to make you gay, but because...they can already tell that you are..." - Craig
- i just know it wouldn't ever be canon so maybe someone should write a fanfic or something
- just people going to Tweek and Craig for romance advice, even adults
2. Tweek and Craig get married
- The whole idea is that they're kids, and you know how kids will just randomly have fake weddings on the playground at recess? it's like that
- it starts at lunch, as per usual, Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Butters, Clyde, Tolkien, Jimmy, all sitting together, and Tweek and Craig just randomly walk up and invite them to their wedding
- it's very impromptu, it's literally happening right after the lunch period they're in currently, so everyone's a little surprised.
- so they all go outside and all the children gather around, Jimmy is the officiant (which, you can imagine how well that's going) Tweek and Craig are holding hands with everyone, and they're using RingPops as wedding rings.
- I think it would be really cool to make it kinda parallel to the Tweek vs. Craig season 3 episode ("so, what do we do?" "just smack each other around" "i've never been in a fight before" "awh ok postpone the fight so they can learn how to fight") ("so what do we do?" "you're supposed to kiss" "we've never actually kissed each other before" "awh ok postpone the wedding so they can learn how to kiss")
- "what about when we played super heroes and you guys' ultimate move was literally kissing" -stan
"it was pretend, we were faking." -Craig
- afterwards, the town gets wind of the wedding, and of course, since Tweek and Craig are the pride (no pun intended) of South Park, they decide that it should be more formal, they should wear suits and exchange proper vows and stuff
- meanwhile, Craig's friends are all sucking up to him to try and be the his best man, (they interrupt while Craig and Tweek are very awkwardly trying to learn how to kiss)
- this is an edit but i forgot to mention that Tweek is a total bridezilla and he's freaking out about every little detail
-eventually they actually hold a cute little wedding, not legal, just for funsies, and the whole town attends (Craig tells his friends that none of them can be his best man) They decorate the place with a bunch of Tweek x Craig yaoi art
-Craig has beautiful vows. "I never would've thought that the kid I'd have my first fight with on the playground, would turn out to be my future husband" "When the asian girls first started drawing yaoi of us, it felt like the worst week of my life, but now i think it's probably the best thing that's ever happened to me"
- Tweek's vows were also very well written, but due to nerves, all he could say was "WAAAAH"
- The whole town had a party, they ate cake and Clyde cried, Cartman probably slow danced with "Cupid Me"
- bonus idea, that Tweek's fucking parents come up to him during the reception and tell him that "now that you're married you're supposed to go on your honeymoon and consummate your marriage" because you know Tweek's dad is fucking horrid
- Tweek freaks out, Craig had a plan ahead of time for this and setup the most awesome sexless gamer heaven for their honeymoon
- they spend the next week and a half in Craig's room playing video games and hanging out together for their "honeymoon" and Tweek is finally able to recite his actual vows privately for craig
- and this is why in Post Covid they aren't legally married with rings, because they consider the little stupid wedding they planned as children to be their actual wedding
3. Bradley from S11 E2 (where Butter's goes to conversion therapy) moves to South Park (this one is probably the most developed idea)
- except that this time, he's not the same bible verse-reciting anxious kid from before, and he's completely confident in his sexuality now
- he immediately becomes friends with Butters again, who has to tell him that he's not actually bi (when Bradley immediately flirts with him), and tells him that "the only gay kids in south park are Tweek and Craig!"
- Bradley then takes a liking to Craig, and starts to hit on him, not knowing that Craig is taken, saying stuff about how "Mysterious" Craig is, and how that's attractive
- before Craig has the chance to tell him to fuck off, Tweek is already behind him, going off on Bradley telling him to "stay away from my Craig"
- Craig likes Tweek standing up for him, so he doesn't actually do anything to stop Tweek and may even sneakily instigate some of his anger just so he can watch his boyfriend fight for him
- subplot, Bradley actually moved into Stan's old house. This freaks Stan out because, as we all know, Stan hates living at Tegrity Farms, and now that his old house has sold, he feels there's no hope of him ever moving back in next to his best friends anymore.
- He turns to the only friend he knows who is crazy enough to drive someone out of town: Cartman.
- Stan and Cartman attempt to gather up more people who are interested in Getting rid of Bradley, but the only other person willing to help is Clyde. ("That Bradley kid said that Craig is the cutest boy in the school. That's not true because everyone knows that I'm the cutest! The girls said so!")
-Tweek is busy working on his own plans, and doesn't know that Stan and Cartman are planning anything
- Cut to a sleepover at Bebe's house, all the main girls are there talking about their crushes and boyfriends, and Wendy brings up how Stan is really concerned about "that Bradley kid" moving into his old house.
- pivot to Tweek, also at the girls' slumber party, hair pulled back with a headband with bunny ears and a mint colored face mask on. This man is fuming, twitching like he does and going off about how "i'm gonna fucking kill him"
- eventually there's a scene outside of Bradley's house, where Stan, Cartman and Clyde were all about to execute whatever plan they came up with to get rid of Bradley, but before they can start, an extremely violent Tweek is speed walking down the street clenching his jaw, with his trusty boxing gloves over his hands.
- Tweek beats the crap out of Bradley and Craig ends up having to break it up, deciding that he's let it go on long enough. Bradley's family does, in fact, move out of Stan's old house
if you have other ideas i'd love to know or I might post my non-creek centric episode ideas if this does well

@arwenindomiel TOLKIEN SOUTH ASIAN WEEK 2022 | DAY SEVEN: ALTERNATE UNIVERSE [4/5]
To anyone familiar with the less savoury part of the Internet in the late 90s and early 00s, BILBO BALMINDER BAGGINS was known only as Burglar. Formidable and ever-elusive, his hacker career came to an abrupt end when he (very nearly) broke into Scotland Yard’s systems, resulting in a very uncomfortable visit from a few government officials, and a promise to swear off hacking forever. However, seven years later, Special Agent G enlisted Bilbo’s help to bring down Smaug Goldmünze, whom the agent had long suspected was an Eye operative long undercover. Bilbo was marked greatly by the experience, especially the deaths of Thorin Oakenshield and his nephews, and wrote a book about the ordeal. “Collateral Damage: How I Survived the Oakenshield Incident” became an instant bestseller, and Bilbo relocated to the quaint village of Hobbiton to protect himself and his nibling Frodo from the increased attention his writing brought them. The calm they found in Hobbiton was shattered some ten years later, when Bilbo mysteriously disappeared, and Frodo found themselves entrusted with Bilbo’s most powerful, and most dangerous, secret.
Image description under the cut.
[ID: An eight-picture picspam featuring Bilbo Balminder Baggins. The first image of row 1 shows a hand pulling a book off the shelf. The cover of the book is a photograph of Bilbo leaning his head against his hand, colorised in orange and purple. His name is written in white, and you can catch glimpses of the book’s title: “Collateral Damage: How I Survived the Oakenshield Incident”. The second image of row 1 is of Bilbo. He is sitting at a table with someone, wearing a khaki shirt and pensively stroking his chin. The superimposed text reads his full name: “Bilbo Balminder Baggins”. The first image of row 2 is of a red floppy disk. The second image of row 2 is of a white bookcase filled with books of all different shapes and sizes. The first image of row 3 is of a child wearing a yellow dress with embroidered flowers. The collar and sleeve trims are white. The second picture of row 3 is of Bilbo once more. This is a black and white photograph of Bilbo wearing glasses, and he looks slightly older than the picture in row 1, with a little grey at his temples and in his moustache. The superimposed text is of his first name in Hindi: “बिल्बो”. The first picture of row 4 is of a stone building framed by trees and a rolling green hillside. The last picture is of a photograph from above of a typewriter and a laptop, back-to-back. End ID.]
