SEE this is such a hard question bc i've been so bad at reading x reader and i've read SO much stucky so i'm gonna rec some of both. i have a terrible memory so i'm probably just going to do from the last few months or ones that really stood out bc i could tell you maybe 3 fics i've read this year off the top of my head

forever and always will scream from the rooftops to read time after time by @intrepidacious. the massive amount of work nika has but into this story and its intricacies have me literally in awe and it is one of my favorite fics i've ever read

rising tide by @pellucid-constellations is one of my favorite steve fics and we all know i love a good au so surfer!steve is such a treat

after and the garden boy @wkemeup were another couple favorites. i absolutely adore all of kas’s work but if we're talking about ones i've read just this year, these are great

in the embers by @foreverindreamlandd (i forgot to tag you when i originally posted this im so SORRY) is SUCH a good ff!bucky and i still think about it at least once a week

Where are all the reader inserts for the more grown up grownups?

While it's fun to imagine being young again, I'm kind of over reading about 20 year old college students, or inexperienced virgins.

Again, not saying there's anything bad about those fics, but where are the women in their 30s and beyond? The ones with careers, maybe with baggage, with kids and combining families and more life experience?

I want to read about a divorcee finding new love. About a woman with experience finding her sexual awakening. A person going through loss or buying a house or getting their kid into high school, but still connecting with someone.

And maybe that's not the fantasy people are looking for with reader inserts, but sometimes I want to see more of myself in those stories - to maybe give myself hope? I don't know, but maybe you feel that someone closer to 40 could still have it. To make big changes, to find themselves, to have a relationship that's happy and healthy and fulfilling. Even if it's fictional. Maybe if I can even just imagine myself as happy, I could take the scary steps to actually being happy.

I hope I'm not the only one.

hi tiff! do you have any fic recs lately? i’ve been itching to read stuff but haven’t found anything that’s hooked me 😭 the last thing i read was “the devil pays more” after you posted it and it was amazing!

oh my god, i've been trying to respond to this but everytime i get close my tumblr crashes and i lose everything. fingers crossed that this one goes through!!

i haven't been reading a lot because i've been playing so much baldur's gate and reading some psychological horror mangas lol but here are some longer fics that i've read in the past that i really enjoyed!!

if you find a writer that you like, i strongly recommend that you just read their entire catalogue lol even if you don't know the fandom because the rest of their stuff is usually super good too. AND if they have their bookmarks public, check those out too! That's what I do most of the time when I'm looking for new fics

The End by unpetitlapin - Geto/Utahime I think I've recommended this person to death but I really can't stop talking about them tbh. I especially like this one because I love Geto. (They mainly write Gojo/Utahime fics and they absolutely NAIL Gojo's character. My fave Gojo fic is Camera Lucida.)

Two's Company by underleaves - Jean/Mikasa Cute coworkers-to-lovers au that's really adorable and sweet. 🥺 (Also check out By the Skin of My Teeth by the same author! Psychological horror again)

Much Ado About Nothing by theragethatisdesire - Eren/Reader Amazing series with our favourite loser boyfriend, Eren 🥰 There's smut, there's feelings, and there's dramaaaa (Also check out their Ti Penso Ogni Giorno series for some more quality Eren content)

Chainsmoking His Love by dolcezzza - Zeke/Reader Love this so much!! Canon-compliant and really excellent smut 👀 In the warning they said there are manga spoilers in the fic, but I think if you're up-to-date on the anime you should be fine?? Don't quote me on that.

Rich Boy!Gojo series by saetoru This is one of the series that really got me into Gojo. Mix of smut and fluff and really great characterization for our man.

Ain't that the Worst Thing You Ever Heard? by somelattes - Eren/Reader I love this so much!! It's about surf instructor Eren and tourist Reader and how they fall in love and deal with it all ending at the end of the summer 🥺

 You barely made it through the door before he was grabbing you, pulling you in tight and slanting his mouth over yours in a desperate kiss. Practically ripping his jacket from his strong shoulders, the flower caught your eye on the floor as his mouth made its way down your neck. 

 “You… are evil.” His voice sent a chill down your spine, his tongue soothing the insult as he found your mouth once more. 

 You hummed against his soft lips, almost in agreeance, as your hand found his swollen length to rub him through his trousers. The softest of moans slipped past his lips, and you withheld your smile as you pressed kisses against his jaw, knowing the sounds you would soon be pulling from that gorgeous mouth. 

 He watched as you undid his pants, as you pushed them down his thighs, and as you teased your finger across the line of his underwear. His hand gripped the side of your neck roughly to pull your mouth back to his, tasting his moan and panting breaths as he pressed his hardness against you.

His entire body pressed her into the wall, practically suffocating her.  His hands, his warmth, his scent, his mouth - all focusing on her torment, her pleasure.  A welcomed juxtaposition.  

Her head tipped back when his hand cupped her breast, squeezing before his thumb smoothed over her pebbled nipple.  He was on her neck instantly, tongue thrashing against her pulse as a moan traveled up his throat. She was… everything.  He couldn’t touch her fast enough, couldn’t absorb her moans and pants any more, yet wanted so much more.  Her time, her body, her love – never feeling like enough. 

“I want you inside me,” she breathed, the words floating up to the ceiling.  

He groaned in response, pressing his hips into hers even more. The pressure alone had her swallowing her own moan, let alone his hand gripping the back of her head to pull her lips back to his.

Wet Dream

The party was dying down slowly.  People going off into smaller groups and then eventually starting to head out, giving their thanks to him for a great night.  There were always the few friends that lingered, an unspoken invitation to stay as long as they wanted.  

He was giving hugs to a few at his front door, wishing them a safe drive and a request for a text that they were home before shutting the door and leaning against it briefly, exhaling a low breath.  The introvert in him was scratching its way out.  So much socializing in what seemed like so little time always got the best of him towards the end of a good night.  

He passed the inevitable friend asleep on his sofa as he walked back through the house, noticed the light coming from the back patio as a few passed a joint around, but the house was otherwise quiet.  A few soft whispers came from outside, but that was it.  

So when he walked into the kitchen to find you sitting at his island, your back to him, he couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at the corner of his mouth. Plates had disappeared from the counters, trash thrown away and a familiar lemon scent wafted in the air before he noticed the sound of the dishwasher running and the small strawberry shaped magnet that read CLEAN was flipped right side up.  

“Didn’t have to do that,” he said as he made his way closer to you.

With A Sea View

Your body was overheating. 

Completely and totally on fire as your hips rocked against his, your nails digging into the thickest part of his chest, his fingers bruising the outsides of your thighs with their tight grip.  

“Just like that,” he murmured, his eyes roaming from your face, your breasts, your core, and back again.  

Messy hair splayed out on his pillow, his face a mix of awe and overwhelm. He looked as gorgeous as ever with the hair on his face turning into more than a bit of stubble.  

You couldn’t help your moan, his length reaching so deep your back arched to feel him fully.  The breeze coming from the open floor to ceiling double doors to your left bit at your clammy skin as you lifted your hips and dropped down on him yet again, over and over, his own groan slipping past his lips against his will.  

“Love,” he warned, his voice like a deep caress against every inch of you. “Fuck… fuck.”  His eyes rolled back, teeth sinking into his bottom lip before his gaze snapped back to yours, as if he couldn't allow himself to miss anything.

🚀 Do you like to outline your fic first or create as you go?

i go back and forth on this. i have a really long hp marauders fic (that i will never share but i just love writing in that uni) that i have a massive outline for, but again, it's literally like 100+ pages. i have found that i usually only outline for OC fics, not so much x reader. i don't know why, x reader just comes more organically to me and i like to "characterize" the reader as little as possible, so i focus mainly on the canon characters. i do have an outline for my reiner x oc fic, but it's solely to keep all the canon-divergence straight and i've done a poor job of keeping up with it LOL

🏷 Is there a tag you like to search for when looking for fanfics to read?

i think i use tumblr wrong lol i will sometimes scroll the x reader tags, but more often than not i hunt down fics/new blogs to follow via mutuals or fic recs. i think this is a hot take, but i actually like the "for you" tab on here? i get a ton of good stuff there!

💛 What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned about writing?

to write literally whatever you want. especially in terms of fanfic writing, i go by a method of self-indulgence. like, if i haven't written a fic that indulges a random persons wants, that's fine, because someone else on the internet has. i was so scared to post initially bc i wanted to cater to everyone, but once i leapt over that hurdle, i was just like you know what? it's my blog, it's my writing, and i write my best stuff when i'm writing things that make me happy, not trying to focus on interactions or special requests or being palatable.
