Behind the androgynous figure (The Lovers combined) in ART, is a Golden Sun with the Latin inscription inviting us to "visit the interior parts of the Earth: by rectification you shall find the Hidden Stone." This bringing together of opposites sees opposing forces transforming into a new state of Being - the Emperor and Empress (of The Lovers) reaches fulfillment, the Highest Transformation.

The Sun (in Art) is also held aloft by Khephra, the Holy Beetle in THE MOON, signifying an emergence from the source of Life (Binah, the Waters of the Subconsciousness), climbing towards external goals: "it is this beetle that bears the Sun in his Silence through the darkness of Night and the bitterness of Winter" (A.C/B.o.T.)

The same Disk is featured on the Ace as a golden coin, here however it depicts Body and Soul have finally met in harmonic union, relating to the MOON's emerging scarab, we now realise that the deeper our roots reach into the Earth, the higher we will be able to soar (the many wings surrounding the Disk).

This is also a path with a good deal of danger, for if the signs from the unconscious are poorly understood, or the student is lost in the astral life, he forgets his spiritual nature and his higher aim towards his true self, his H.G.A., he can become confused and lost."

"It is not out of dust that sorrow comes, nor out of the Earth that trouble grows; but Man is born of suffering, like sparks, to rush upwards." (Job 5: 6-7)

The image of the Knight bears this out - he brings forth the harvest of the Earth but only through toil, even his steed is flagging. The shining Sun of ART, held aloft by the beetle in the MOON and central to the Ace - is his shield, which he holds up reflecting the nourishing rays of sunlight across his domain, producing life.

"Let there be no difference made among you, between any one thing and any other thing; for thereby cometh hurt." (A.C./B.o.T.)

The Knight's flail is the central fiery Wand of 7/Wands - "the army has been thrown into disorder; if a Victory is to be won, it will be by dint of individual valour - a Soldier's Battle." (A.C./B.o.T.)

The Knight's ultimate goal is to reach Happiness (9/Cups) but he sees the journey ahead will be long and arduous - in his stiff armour holding his shining Disk he is THE MOON's holy scarab Khephra emerging from the Sea of Binah:

"Let the illusion of the World pass over thee unheeded, as thou goest from Midnight to the Morning." (A.C./B.o.T.)

THE TAROT OF THOTH

A fellow Frater and I have been carrying on the same conversation for several years now. I’ve always adhered very strictly to the roots of Jewish mysticism when it comes to, let’s call them spheres, and only study hermeticism as it relates to Christianized Alchemy? (Not sure that describes it) Anyways, he’s passed through several degrees in several occult schools over the years and is devastatingly Thelemic in his approach.

I have always viewed Qabalah as an abomination of Jewish mystics and studied/applied Abulafia, Gikatellia, and Maimonides to my understanding of Rav Yeshuas instruction. Naturally, I am woefully ignorant of Crowley and Thelemists in general. Like I come from a magickal family- Father followed the old gods of Ireland, sisters read tarot for 20+ years, mothers an old school acolyte with a completely different take- I should have studied western esotericism fiercely. But I didn’t. My meditations are Jewish, my prayers Aramaic. My understanding “God is, nothing else exists.”

*it’s worth noting I don’t consider AMORC to be a fount of quabbalistic wisdom. They’re more armchair occultists slaving themselves out every time they enter their sanctum- someday I’ll elaborate on that.

Unfortunately, that’s a blind considering most of the people who read these posts are drawn to the alchemical aspects that I’ve “Christianized.” (Again, not sold on the word.) Yeshua is a master alchemist to me. I don’t know, His entire story in the Gospels just reads like the Great Work and I can’t shake that Christian Rosenkreutz approach because it gave me relationship with Sophia. Relationship with Logos became an inner guide and meditators end up in all sorts of places we can’t describe. I’d have gotten lost a million times I’ve the Bridal Chamber wasn’t the heart of my path.

Turns out, Crowley’s Gnostic Mass leads to that exact level of understanding. It’s something that can’t be taught. It’s why Teresa of Avila wrote the Interior Castle. It’s why the Hasidic teacher I studied under calls her work the best explanation of Hekhalot a Christian mystic ever wrote. Crowley’s work fits into that same narrative from a completely different approach. It just happens to be one I’ve never even considered.

Aside from reading everything attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, Dion Fortune, Cornelius Agrippa, and dissecting The Book of the Law because the ka is explained I know very little about “Magick.” (Not sold on that word either, but labels bother me in general.)

Anyways, all this came about because of my personal pathwork… Revelation- John describes his meditation unfolding in chapter 1:9-20 in this world of symbolism that goes well beyond “Christian” understanding. The 6 jars at the Wedding at Cana, the 7th left behind by the High Priestess(Samaritan Woman) at Jacobs well screams “pay attention to the twin flames of hermeticism and Kabbalah!”

So, deck is here. Introductory course from OTO initiate was included. It’ll be months, maybe years, of meditating on the symbols Crowley placed on the cards before I’ll even pretend to be able to extract the hidden symbolism from the most esoteric epistles of scripture. But… I am expanding my understanding and opening myself up to aspects of the path I’ve ignored.

It’s doubtful I’ll ever use the deck for divination- thats for people who couldn’t divine the entrails of animals if they needed too. Thanks Dad! 😂 but I can see myself doing readings on the aspects of the gospel that are so obviously related to the sephirot it needs to happen.

Wish me luck. Feel free to tag in with your understanding and elaborate on any points you feel I should pay attention to. I learn just as much as you guys do having these conversations.

"DE QUODAM MODO MEDITATIONIS" (A.C/B.o.T. p.124)

"This card (The Tower) is attributed to the letter Pe, which means a mouth, referring to the planet Mars.

"I will make my words in your mouth a fire

and these people the wood it consumes" (Jeremiah 5:14)

In its simplest interpretation it refers to the manifestation of the cosmic energy in its grossest form, the picture showing the destruction of existing material by Fire - Active or Exciting Intelligence in action.

Mars initiates new transformation as the old inevitably makes way for the new.

Many will dislike this change and attempt to cling to the old ways - but the lightning flash from above (Kether) connects Hod & Malkuth (emotion and knowledge) as a bolt of inspiration (gnosis/Thelema) where ignorance and falsehood are destroyed to reveal the Truth:

"Break down the fortress of thine Individual

Self, that thy Truth may spring free from the ruins." (A.C/B.o.T.)

The rising serpent (top right) in The Tower, reappears in The Hierophant coiled around The Sun (the snake of eternity).

He (The Hierophant) is the revealer of sacred things (shown to us in the flash of The Tower), his knowledge acting as a bridge towards attainment and spiritual progress, he is our Holy Guardian Angel, the voice of silence within:

"O blind Soul! Arm yourself with the torch of the mysteries, and in the earthly night you will discover your shining double, your Heavenly Soul. Follow this Divine Guide and may He be your Genius. For He holds the key to your existences, past & future." (Book of the Dead)

In 5/Wands, we see the upheaval this new knowledge brings, a purging purification brought about by the flames of The Tower (as in the rebirth of Osiris through Isis), we rise pheonix-like from the letting-go (destruction) of the past, leading to the Thelema found in the Ace of Swords.

We have passed through a conflict, it was stressful but we have learned from it, finding balance, a new clarity. The dark night of the soul (seen in The Tower) gives way to the golden dawn of the Ace:

"Its power is manifestly terrific. It visibly attacks its objective."

"Wisdom to each appointed his want.

WHEN METATRON SCREAMS BRO CHILLL!

So I had a strange mystical experience on Saturday right. It was one of those things I can’t explain with words but it ties into awareness beyond any of the base forms we think of. Like, after meditation I even tried to read and the sensation continued. Then heightened until I stopped everything again and went further into the silence. Forgive the vagueness but these things don’t translate.

Reached out to my spiritual director and a few adepts from various orders all of whom landed on the same thing- it was beyond their experience. Some people would rejoice in that but I feel it’s dangerous to be beyond the level of our teachers. Anyways, a fellow acolyte suggested doing a quick draw and asking Metatron for guidance. The theory being if it’s beyond our human understanding then receiving guidance from one who isn’t confined to human thinking may clear it up.

I drew a four of swords. Contemplation , recuperation and rest right. “So clarify as that’s what led me here please.” 9 of cups. That’s the bro chill card in this instance. You made it. Your spiritual practice has brought you to a place of peace. Accept it and sit with it.

So I did that. Big chilling in Yesod with the homies. I spent the evening creating art and did my regular prayers over areas I struggled with during the day and went to bed. I let Monday be a day of real rest and didn’t do much beyond light writing and prepping for a YouTube video. Maybe an hours worth of work and I spent that listening to low-fi and chilling with my child.

Today is back to the grind so I returned to the deck and asked a simple question: what am I really doing? The answer is the spread you see above you. 3 out 5 cards beyond my ever present Prince Of Wands are Major Arcana. It’s really basic past, present and future setup so this spread is really straightforward. I only asked for clarity on staying in the present. Hierophant meets the social intelligence of the Queen of Wands drawing guidance from the Hermits inner Source. Obviously, later adjustments are to come but fire water and earth will deal with the motion of air later; it’s not todays problem. However, I should be aware that adjustment is always present while remembering the materialistic aspects of my own nature- savvy capitalists understand why the Prince of Disks floats around in the past leading up to the Hierophant of today.

My guy really said continue evaluating and reflecting on your spiritual truths and don’t tamper with divine balance. Be present and teach.

I say all that because this is what the Tarot is for. Self evaluation and understanding where your consciousness is in relation to the cosmos; like what part do you play in the divine balance currently? Granted, there are other types of readings but my spiritual disposition keeps me far from those. Divining the future or trying to unravel the cosmos has never been the aim for me. I don’t particularly care what other people do so long as I treat them with compassion regardless. Humans be humaning right. Although, this spread does reveal a need to strike a balance between a desire to teach and financial security.

Some of you know this is a question I’m wrestling with. Is it right to receive payment for teaching people how to find their concept of divinity and being lasting peace into their lives? I’ve gone out of my way to give away every piece of practical spiritual practice to others for free knowing I’ll eventually sell a few books. Maybe that is the balance but as of today continued contemplation is in order.

How long will dogma and convention live under the same roof as intellect? Not very long, in my own personal life experience. Intellect, most times will prove convention the best route, as it allows flexibility and room for research and growth. Right now, we as a people are finally challenging the dogmatic ways in which our ancestors taught us, we want to know ALL of the Ws & Hs.

Archangel Michael Oracle says "Romance Angels are Helping You." For the sake of staying on subject with Thoth, our search for our soulmates, whom in this case I believe is ourselves, will bring our spiritual and intellectual soul searching full circle. The age of dogmatic ways are coming to an end.
