Weight of a Feather, Assassin's Creed: Origins fanart, watercolour and acrylic gouache on hot press paper, 17.8 x 25.4 cm
This is one of those that I don't care if no one likes it, or if there are obvious mistakes/things that don't make sense, I'm proud of myself for managing to do it traditionally and that's that. It's for no one but me, I'm just sharing it with you :)
I started it in 2021, even began to paint it, but burnout is a bitch and I couldn't finish it then. Recently I decided to see if I could complete it traditionally and this is the result! It was inspired by a screenshot I took where Bayek's face is entirely in shadow. I then added elements that relate to Ma'at, the goddess of truth and justice, and the ceremony of the Weighing of the Heart, where she'd weigh a dead person's heart against her ostrich feather, to see if they were worthy of going on to the Field of Reeds (a sort of paradise). (Egyptologists don't @ me 😭)

Having fun re-learning gouache while going through the 90's Alphabet. Some of my favorites are
The letter T (I painted Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes from TLC)
The letter S (Snoop Dogg)
The letter P (Pearl Jam)
The letter M (Metallica)
The letter L (Lenny Kravitz)
and the letter G (Green Day)
These are all painted live on Youtube in about 90 minutes. And... predictably... I don't love every one I make. These, though, something clicked and... they didn't suck.
I'm looking forward to putting together a poster with the entire alphabet by the end of the month.
Thanks to all who've been following along.
Sending Big Hugs from the Hobbit Hole. ♥♥♥

Linktober 06 - Mask Little baby Ganon boar with his mask on 🥰
I spent the entire day (and most of the night) trying to fix my DisplayPort that suddenly didn't want to display my tablet anymore, so I was delayed with this one today!
On a more positive note, I think my application of gouache is becoming more consistent!

Happy Chrysler! The brushes and fonts are here!
Tumblr media
After months of promising I've finally put together the ULTIMATE LO DEBAUCHERY brush and font pack! This was something I've been wanting to put together and release for a while but between technical difficulties, moving PC's, and wanting to ensure the brush pack was as refined as possible, it led to some delays. That said, it's finally finished!
VERSION 3 HERE! Helpful anon struck back not once, but twice! This will be the FINAL RELEASE of this brush pack (unless anything else is discovered but at this point it's feeling pretty complete! Any new additions will be collected and released in a new version at a later date <3)
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
All the brushes I consistently use in my panel edits of LO and Rekindled panels, among a metric FUCKTON of others provided by the community since releasing the first build! All the brush files are .abr meaning they can be used cross-platform between Clip Studio, Photoshop, Procreate, and other compatible drawing software!
A small selection of fonts from the Jason Brubaker 26 Fonts set.
A raw .clip and .psd file of Persephone from Episode 38 containing all the layer information for you to pull apart and play with! Also comes with an instruction layer to explain what brushes were used and where. Please use responsibly ( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡
An .mp4 time lapse of an Eros panel recreation from S1 using the newest set of brushes!
WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED:
Clip Studio brushes that I also use due to exporting limitations. This includes the standard Gouache brush (which I've replaced with some Photoshop-compatible brushes that are close enough) and the Design Pencil brush, both of which come pre-packaged as default brushes with Clip Studio Paint. So if you use CSP, you should be able to find these missing brushes in your default brush kits!
The remaining 23 fonts from the Jason Brubaker set as they're not typically used in LO and I don't want to go releasing an entire font pack. Note that you should NOT use the provided fonts commercially unless you've legally paid for them. If you want all of his comic fonts to use royalty-free then you can buy them on Gumroad!
The canvas texture overlay that I apply to all my pages, the one I use can be found in Clip Studio's default texture overlays but you can undoubtedly also find overlays for free online or simply use the "Add Canvas" brush that's included in the brush pack! (the overlay is just faster and more uniform haha)
Commercial ownership - these brushes are all being provided to use for free, but you are NOT allowed to use these commercially, says the law. If you try to use these in a professional commercial product and get caught, it's your own funeral! Use at your own risk!
A lot of research and trial and error went into putting this together, so I'm thrilled to finally bring it to y'all for your panel editing, text editing, and style-studying needs ~ Consider this my grand gesture of appreciation and gratitude for accepting me into this community with open arms and showing so much support for what I've added to the table <3 Enjoy! ( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡
And if anyone asks you where or how you got these, no you didn't-

Forest of Gold
Moving through a golden ginkgo forest, a grown male Lusotitan browses in peace during the cooler hours of the evening. Around his feet, a small group of ornithopods pick up the leaves that fall with the change of the seasons.
For this week’s Fossil Friday, another gouache piece from almost a year ago. I’ll be real, I’m not entirely happy with this one. The execution came out a little too... Impressionist to me, too rushed because I was clearly getting frustrated with it. Like a very poor Van Gogh knock-off. Not my best. Or maybe it’s my own high standards for what my paleoart should look like affecting me again. Idk.
I just wanted to paint something a little different instead of the same old green forest background. Ginkgo trees (or the order Ginkgoales) have existed for as long as some 290 million years! Fossils very similar to its last living species, the Ginkgo biloba, go as far back as the Middle Jurassic, so dinosaurs such as this Lusotitan might have encountered it. Imagine what they must’ve thought, wading through these trees as they yellowed out.
And, if you’re as old as I am, if you look closely around the feet of the Lusotitan you will see three little nods to a pretty obscure game, you might have heard about it, called Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis.

"Noble d'Apchier"
A little watercolor painting of Chloe, with the Zorn palette! I found out about this palette a while ago and I really wanted to try it out! (More on that below )
Chloe's hair is something I adore, it's gotta be one of my absolute favourite character designs ever,I love how swirly and fluffy it is,very fun to draw. I've drawn her normally before,I wanted to do one with her vampire eyes and fangs too. I decided to try to draw a white fuzzy rim around the foreground against the plain background, for a change, like in some of the VnC panels.
The Zorn palette,or Apelles Palette was a colour scheme used by Anders Zorn in the late Victorian/Early Edwardian era. It ,or something similar, might have been used by artists of old civilizations too, because it avoids the use of blue and green entirely: which would eliminate the need for rare pigments . It's essentially a colour mixing challenge,to draw the entire paintings with 4 pigments,2 basic colours: Ochre yellow, Vermillion, and Black and white, which can be mixed into different shades. It can be an excellent exercise and means for portrait painting
Modern artists use red instead of vermillion, but the essence is the same. So that's what I did too. I considered using vermillion, but I realised that it would introduce a lot of yellow tint, making the picture very warm. Which is usually something I prefer honestly, but not what I was going for here. Also,I need to consider the fact that I'm a watercolour artist, which is very different from the original intended palette. Zorn used oil paints, but other artists use it fine for gouache and acrylic too, however, that too is different from watercolor, because instead of mixing with white, I'll be diluting with water, which changes the composition of the palette considerably. So I went with these supplies: ochre yellow and red watercolor pencils (for me, basically watercolor pigments,I don't use them to draw,I grind and dissolve them in water),white and black watercolor tubes, and white ink. In addition: lineart with sepia, grey and black brush pens, which are well within the bounds of the palette
Tumblr media
To be honest,I ended up not using the white paint tube at all, water makes more sense to me. I didn't use anything else though, and stuck with the original materials. And the results:
Tumblr media
Does it work? Hell yeah. It's not perfect, but I'm happy with how she turned out
Was it restricting? That's kind of the point,to paint with some limitations
Was it hard? Honestly? No. Not at all. It's definitely very different from what I'm used to,I use a lot of colours both as is and mixed, but this was surprisingly easy. Perhaps because of my subject, which didn't have much colour to begin with
Do I recommend it? If you want a small challenge,or to experiment or practice colour mixing, definitely
Will I do it again ? Absolutely. I feel like I haven't utilised much of the potential of this palette. I ended up using mainly red and black, hardly any yellow at all. So I'd like to do something more colourful with this palette, perhaps a sunny painting of a gingerhead girl with flowers, and for this I'll probably use vermillion, not red
Anyways, that's all! If you read all this, thank you for your time!!

“An amusement park full of free games, rides, and food? I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to take a day off from my strenuous duties to goof off- I mean to supervise you all!”
This is my silly design for Crowley’s “Playful Land” event costume haha \(//∇//)\ Since the full story isn’t out yet, I may have jumped the gun a bit…but since all the students look like puppets, I thought it would be fun for Crowley to have a ringmaster theme. However, the outer accessories were meant to disguise him as a clown with a lot of inspiration drawn from carnival/fair attractions like carousels, shooting games, etc. But underneath it all, he’s still wearing a ringmaster’s outfit, if that makes sense
I talk more about my concept sketches and thought process below!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two photos above are meant to be the final concept art showcasing my mental image of how his outfit works haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This design came to me surprisingly quick since I had a strong mental image of what I wanted him to look like. However, I DO wish I kept exploring with his design. I usually spend a lot of time in the exploration phase, especially when it’s for a nicer drawing. This above concept art was pretty much the “final” design I made before I started drawing him. And as you can tell from the finished art, there were quite a few changes…the amount of changed details alone make it an entirely different outfit haha. It caused me a lot of pain while sketching AND inking…I think I got overexcited with this event and I jumped right into inking. In fact, I had a start from scratch after inking my first art- the proportions and design was all wrong haha. A lesson learned.
From the start, I knew I wanted a ringmaster-disguised-as-a-clown theme, but I think the detachable clown pants really put it all together haha. I like outfits that can “shed” themselves to reveal a hidden theme underneath.
In his initial final design, he had a red feathered coat, meant to resemble the feathers in the students hats. This was one of the many things that changed last minute because I didn’t like how the big cost looks in Crowley’s pose haha. But I like this change better actually- it stands out to his usual headmasters coat, and it resembles Malleus’s masquerade cape. His coat lapels are decorated to look like a piano- I think there was a piano scene in Pinocchio? I actually didn’t check at all…
The carousel hat was the first thing I came up with haha, I thought it was funny. I wonder if it’s functional…that would be a funny animation haha. His bird mask is too iconic to drastically change, so it’s just a different color and shape with some beading to look like clown makeup/tears. I love how the novel describes Crowley as flamboyant yet melancholic…
Tumblr media
I’ve only gone to a fair once in my life many years ago, so I had to search up common carnival games. I’ve seen festival games in Japanese media, where a rifle with a wooden cork is used to shoot down plushies/other prizes- and I think it would be a really fun and eccentric cane design haha. Perhaps if someone is really misbehaving, he can aim a cork at them? 🤭
Tumblr media
The shape of his tie and thigh harness was another sudden design choice made during official drawing, but I like it! It incorporated the ribbons everyone else has without having Crowley being the one “controlled.” The gold points on his shoes are actually removable- it’s part of his “clown” theme. The white spats were made to match him with Fellow Honest- like a hint that he’s not one of the performers since he matches with the owner of Playful Land. Ahhh I’m still learning how to use gouache, and the background was a mess…but it’s inspired off of this Pinocchio concept art! It’s so gorgeous! I’m sorry Ortho…
And finally, the masks on his waist. They’re wrapped around his waist with rope, and are made to resemble the faces of certain characters. Average Kallisto moment of being the most unsubtle person ever with my theories LMAO. Anyway, I thought it would be the perfect event to include various masks on his costume in a similar placement where the mirrors are in his regular outfit. Since he has a lot of carnival game themes in his outfit, perhaps he can pretend he’s a mask vendor haha.
@marrondrawsalot Haha I’m not sure if you remember, but a long while back I made a Glorious Masquerade Crowley design, and we decided that I could tag you if I made a future event design. It’s been a while! 。゚(゚´ω`゚)゚。

Chauvet-style cave art lions. I completely forgot I made this piece until I unearthed it digging for something else entirely. I actually deeply enjoy doing this kind of work but don't make much of it as A) it's a huge pain to store and B) it's heavy & challenging to ship. It'd be a dream to get to do these life-size; this one is roughly 11x14 I think. Will have to measure it. It's made by layering several kinds of materials together to make faux stone and then throwing everything but the kitchen sink at it. Watered down acrylics, airbrush, carbon pencil, graphite powder, gouache, conte...

“That incision was exactly .02 inches away from my heart. If I had not moved, he would have directly pierced my heart…
Hunter had every intention of killing me. There would’ve been little time for survival if he was successful… he was only unsuccessful because of my movements to shift his target to my left lung.”
“If Hunter was still in there, fighting the Chip. He could’ve stabbed me anywhere, any location that would still allow for survival… but he aimed for the one organ in which he knew I would not survive if pierced.”
A single tear that built up in techs tear ducts fell towards his lap, and many others started to follow.
“I don’t believe….” His hands shook “…that my brother is there anymore…”
Posted the entire mini comic I did for a specific scene in a fic I’ve been writing! For the entire time, Tech had been confident there was still a chance at saving Hunter, that his brother was still there. But after Tech was stabbed by Hunter, in which Hunter intended to be fatal, Tech for once in his life was overcome by emotions. And started to feel as if there was little chance at saving their brother..

Losing my mind over the idea of Hamato Raphael being an art kid
When his harsh personality starts really establishing itself at say five? and he's just SUCH a precious screaming handful? Splinter spends a year trying to corral this child before he adds brushes and ink to the list of what to buy on the surface, in an attempt to teach Raph some nice calm calligraphy, right
Raph paints on the cabinets with it.
And from then on he's absolutely unstoppable
He learns by copying drawings out of picture books and the few textbooks that Splinter gets ahold of, by copying out of comics, by trying to draw from real life. It's pretty ugly drawing in most ways because he's six but he's so excited about it pshshsg
And this doesn't actually make him that much sweeter/softer as a person, but it does serve as an expression of his thoughts when he has no earthly idea how to say them
So when Raph has sudden pitches in wanting to hurt his brothers, and yeah he's eight so it's probably normal but also he looks almost *upset,* Splinter stops trying to get Raph to verbalize and starts asking if it would be alright for them to do some drawing together
So that's part of how they communicate (not to say that Splinter doesn't also communicate with discipline and firm tone, but I think in the times when he can see there's something deeper, he takes the time to ask about it through art)
Fast forward to nine years old; they're all starting training now, and Raph is suddenly being taught an activity that feels absolutely right to him
He soars
And by this I mean that Raphael and Leonardo are very clearly neck in neck for the entire 2012 series; Leo only outstrips Raph when 1) his brother steps down and gives his respect willingly, 2) when Leo is ahead on a spiritual sense, and/or 3) on an emotional sense.
But whenever Leo is spiritually and emotionally lacking and Raph is too mad to back down, they're fighting and Raph is winning
And this
This derails things
Because there wasn't a hierarchy, you know
They're different ages, so that creates some competition, but to be very real, Leo, Raph, and Donnie all look the same age; it's Mikey who looks a different age. They're very close in years
But now there's a competition
Now Raph is good at something useful and he has to prove that he belongs there
He's the strong one
So drawing gets dropped for say six years in pursuit of being the best martial artist in the house
And then he's fifteen and Splinter assigns the leader and it's not him
Raph put everything into being the best at sparring, with his weapons, in every physical level
And yet in the days when Splinter tried to communicate with him, art didn't get through anymore, and neither did words, and so he was not considered a safe choice
He's livid
And then they go up to the surface.
It's ridiculous. It's incredible.
And Raph, to his own horror, goes home that night and paints until dawn.
He triples the number of signs that say DONT COME INTO MY ROOM, BRATS on his door and he adds locks because now
Now it's out of control and the same kid that painted on the cabinets has torn posters off the walls and he's feverishly painting a mural of the city above him on those same walls, a mural of the night sky and the rooftops and the birds and pizza and cars and the funny shape of dumpsters
Raphael made himself out to be the muscle, the rage, the powerhouse, and now he can't stop drawing and getting paint everywhere
What the heck is wrong with him?
This is what's wrong; he's inspired by something other than competition for the first time in six years
He's making something excellent for himself alone
He's happy with it
And so for a long time he hides his sketchbooks, in his dirty laundry, under his pillow
And no one comes into his room
He visits an art shop one night on the surface because he made sure it's on his patrol area
He takes markers and pastels and gouache and a bunch of pencils and he leaves as much crumpled money as he has in an attempt to make it okay
It's so okay. He loves this so much.
Sometimes he can't hide the marker stains on his hands and he has to walk around with extra bandages on his hands and say he had a sparring accident. When they realize this actually gives him more traction and softens the pain of his punches, everyone in the family starts mimicking this fashion.
And then Spike turns to Slash, knows the horrible angry bitter parts of Raph's life and Raph never thought a real person was watching all this time
He's horrified
Because when he is angry at Leo he draws Leo, and he draws him in a rage
There is proof of how much he despises his own brother, filling pages of books in his room
And someone saw those pages and was moved to hurt
Raph's art nearly killed someone he loves
He throws away his brushes, pours the paint and markers into the sewer system
Swears off of doing art even though he was finally finding his style and getting much better at realism and becoming a real artist
He leans on Casey a lot, watches Casey do graffiti and tries to be content with standing near that and maybe picking the colors if his friend lets him.
The Kraang strike New York.
April's dad is mutated, Casey's family is stuck back there, Shredder throws Leo's body through a window, Shredder throws Splinter's body into the sewers
And they're running away?? And for the first time in his life he has no idea what to do?? He has to be the leader now, sort of, but he doesn't know how it's done, or he knows how it's done but he can't do it, and isn't that worse?
Raph finds a torn notebook and a few pens in a corner of April's farmhouse and without even thinking, he starts to draw.
He draws thoughtfully, painstakingly, tearing out pages when he's not satisfied. He draws Splinter in excruciating detail, the little scars peeking through his father's fur, the wrinkles in the corners of his eyes.
There's no game plan, no revenge plot. Raph is alone, and he can't fight, so he makes good art.
It's when Raph sits down with his new sketchbook next to Leo's tub and tries for the very first time to draw Leo from real life that he loses it and ends up leaning with his forehead on the edge of the tub, crying himself senseless.
He's not okay
He's in so much pain
And he draws to take that away.
He's sick of cartoonish art; caricatures got his family attacked by Spike
Raphael dives into realism
He gets out in the woods and draws the trees, funny leaves, flowers, pinecones, ducks, clouds. He wanders around the house drawing it from all angles and changing bits of it.
One day, April knocks on the door of the room he claimed as his own and when he opens it, she gives him a watercolor set.
"I just had a feeling," she says with a smile when he asks what it's for. "No other reason."
He's practicing his katas one afternoon when he notices Mikey fell asleep under a tree. Slowly, Raph gets out his supplies and paints Mikey right there, kneeling on the grass.
He tiptoes back inside.
Later, Raph is chopping wood when Mikey saunters over.
"Can I look at the picture you drew of me?" he asks calmly.
"What?" Raph sputters. "Drew? Drew what?"
"I wasn't really asleep," Mikey explains. "I thought you could use a real model, you know?"
And that's how Raphael learns that his youngest brother knew he was doing art for all of these years.
I don't really know where this goes, but all I can see is Raph slowly letting people see him drawing and slowly letting people look at his drawings and slowly making more really excellent stuff and in times of peace he gets on an online platform and shares what he has and the internet goes ballistic and suddenly he's a really well-known online artist
When Splinter dies, Raph builds a triptych of three rice paper screens and paints across them
The first screen shows Splinter's past life as a human
The middle one shows him being the father to the turtles
And the last one shows him walking through a beautiful garden with Tang Shen; his face is obscured from view.
Ages down the line, when Shredder is long dead and mutations have slowly become a more accepted thing because plenty of people were hit with mutagen over the years and now people see it as more of an accident/disability than a mark of a monster, Raph finally goes to the New York Art Institute
and becomes the first mutant to graduate cum laude.

Kassandra of Atlantis - Assassin's Creed: Odyssey fanart, watercolour and acrylic-gouache on hot press paper
Entirely because I LOVED the Atlantis aesthetic so much, and I love Kassandra ❤ It's been a while since I played the game, but I think that thematically she should have been holding the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus but…uhh, I didn't want to paint it, so I didn't! Have the Spear of Leonidas instead :) Like Bayek, this one was based on an old sketch - finishing it traditionally was a little challenge I gave myself. ('little' she says, you know, like a fool)
Art prints here!
