Play of The Fates
Short one-shot fanfic; Magura x Sigurd Styrbjornsson (canon x oc but can be seen as canon x reader if the reader pleases)
Short Info about Magura: she is a peasant herbalist/healer Eastern European/Balkan girl (of Daco-Roman origins, hence her religion is a mix between the Roman/Greek and Dacian pantheon) roughly 21/22 years of age (tiny basic info only for context and because I don’t want to bore you all)
I have many stories and scenarios that live inside my head so I’ve decide to face my fears and began writing in order to create a fun hobby for me, hope you’ll enjoy :D
The air from the fireplace caresses your face with a pleasant warm breeze, it’s been several weeks since your ship docked on the shores of England, and several days since you saw Sigurd again. Sigurd Styrbjornsson, the same man who you meet wandering the east two winters ago.
You’ve spent some time with him, you being a wandering healer from Eastern Europe, caring salves and herbs behind the church’s back in order to heal anybody in need sure gave you some interesting patients, and he was one of them when you first met.
Seeing him again in England of all places wasn’t a surprise to you at all, considering the fact that he often told you about his big dreams and having to fulfill his destiny, all that heroic fantasy made you laugh at first, but seeing that little spark in his eyes each time he began his “speech “ was somewhat enchanting. It truly made you admire the fac that he was so set in seeking his “glorious destiny”.
The days passed quickly and you didn’t even notice how you grew attached to the large prideful vikingr, both his stories and his character ended up charming you in an unexpected way.
Some visits followed his recovery and short enough, in a month or so when he was forced to stay at your healing clinic, he ended up seeing you as a friend or a potential ally, even considering offering you a place on his ship, because they greatly needed a healer, as they might’ve recently discovered (no one is immune to cuts and infections after all, unexpected or not)
But despite all, you had to refused, because simply put, you were scared of leaving your life behind and traveling far away from all the places you knew… leaving your friends behind, the friends that were your only family.
The day he left made you question whether or not you made the right decision. It could have been your destiny or a fatal mistake leading you to your doom. Nevertheless you choose to forget that character and go on with your life. It was easy wasn’t it. Was it?
Oh how amused were the fates when you met again, and there you were, at a feast in Ravensthorpe with him, half drunk , his head resting in your lap , despite the curious looks of the others.
How did you end up here? Ask the ones who captured you and wanted you shipped as a slave in Scandinavia, thrall or whatever was called. How you manage to escape despite almost drowning with that ship, despite having everything taken from you, the Gods still had faith for you. You wanted to forget but some of those memories haunted you.. but this night wasn’t one for grieving your past life.
Truth be told you did develop some tiny feelings for him back when you first met, it was prone to happen, he was the type of man who could get any lass he wanted, you hated yourself for that, for being so cliché, you were a simple healer not a warrior nor a noble woman who could grand land, why would he want anything with you? Those feelings indeed came back when you met him again, the same attraction and fascination you despised buy yet loved. Perfect isn’t it? To dream… but then you found out he was married and he was in fact a jarl with his own settlement, something he clearly forgot to mention in that time you’ve spent together.
His clan was kind enough to take you in, more like, he was kind enough to not letting you rot on the shores of a foreign country. You saw it as a repayment for what you did to him, yet you wondered if he might have done it out of pure kindness. However you’ve decided that the answer will remain a mistery.
He didn’t seem to mind his wife, nor spend too much time with her , having later discovered that their marriage wasn’t out of love, but to make peace, as his brother Eivor told you one day when you offered to help him deliver some shipments to the near saxon village.
Eivor was a good lad, very helpful as you have noticed. Kind and eager to answer your questions and help you gather your herbs since you slowly became somewhat of an apprentice for the settlement’s volva: Valka.
Loveless or not, you still felt like you shouldn’t act upon your strange feelings, you felt like it was wrong, and decided to suppress it. It was very wrong.
That wasn’t easy, you always ended up chatting and listening to his stories when you weren’t out strolling, helping Eivor and the merchants or discussing Greek and Dacian/Roman Gods with Valka.
Especially when Sigurd came to you one day, with a pair of golden earrings , probably looted from one of his many raids from the East.
You tried to politely decline but he insisted they were a thank you gift from where you healed him, back when you’ve just met him, despite telling him several times that offering you shelter was more than enough.
“ You could have refused, healing a raider, an enemy, it’s not common practice, especially with the reputation we Danes hold “
“ it was the right thing to do Sigurd Jarl, besides I was a foreigner there too once.. we wanderers should help each other “ you said, looking at the jewelry, not daring to look into his eyes , thank the Gods no one was near to witness that event, since it was during a feast, thank and praise Dionysus.
“ You have a kind heart, Magura, I’m afraid too kind for this cruel world “ he said while cupping your hands into his gently , making you hold the earrings into your fists
“ My jarl.. “
 To be continued….?

Why I Hate Dumbledore. (rant)
I'm not even starting this talking about Harry, but the whole Sirius going to Askaban episode. First of all, Dumbledore testified AGAINST Sirius Black, knowing that the aurors hadn't check his wand to see the last spell that was casted (proof of crime), and knew he didn't even get a chance of trial before being sent to Askaban FOR LIFE. He saw Sirius and James grew up, he knew they were more brothers than anything else, he didn't care about any of that and just helped Sirius downfall. Also, before the Sirius and Peter scene, Sirius tried to take Harry (as it was his right as the child's godfather), and Dumbledore just said "nah I’m sending him to an extremely abusive house hold".
Like okay you could use as an argument that Harry would be safer because of Petunia's blood or whatever but guys, really? Harry would really be better of growing up with trauma than with his loving godfather? And do you all really think that Sirius could have not protect Harry? Sirius would easily die for that kid; he would do anything to keep him safe and honestly if Harry's safety was really that worrying couldn't Dumbledore himself help? Isn't he like the most powerful wizard or whatever? He literally treated Harry like a pig for slaughter (EVEN FUCKING SEVERUS SNAPE COULD SEE THAT).
And also, why the hell did he think it was best to just let Harry not know about the Wizarding World and his own family history? Why couldn't Lupin or Sirius (if he wasn't in jail) visit him? Why did Harry need to be isolated from everyone who truly cared about him? Dumbledore just sat there not caring while Harry didn't even have his own room until he was eleven years old (THE BOY LIVED UNDER THE STAIRS!! HE GOT USED TO SPIDERS CRAWLING AROUND HIM!!) and always got beaten up by at least one member of his so-called family. Dumbledore made the poorest choices someone could have made.
And do we literally need to talk about his past? Like, really? He was the shittiest person ever. As someone who has younger siblings I can't believe that someone would treat their siblings like Dumbledore treated his own, specially how he treated Ariana, I would literally drop everything for my younger sister, I would gladly take care of her until she didn't need me anymore because I love her, Dumbledore did not care about his sister (or his brother) his regret was just to stop his heart from feeling guilty. "Oh, he regrated that and still blames himself for her death many years later!" GOOD AS HE SHOULD just a pity that Ariana didn’t have the same opportunity.
Dumbledore was literally friends with a Nazi and yes, he was responsible for Ariana's death and he should be haunted by that for the rest of his life. He was manipulative and a coward, I hate that his talents blinded everyone from seeing his flaws who he truly was. No, I do not believe he was a heartless monster that didn't care about anyone ever, all I'm saying is that everything he does is according to his own plans and beliefs, he does not care who he will affect, if he judges that decision as the right one he will not pay that much attention to what backfires, as long as it doesn't hit him. And I mean, couldn’t he have asked Minerva for some advice? Half the stupid shit he has done would have been avoided.
And really guys, he couldn't have excuse harry for the year so he could spend some time with Sirius? Losing one year of school is more important that making sure the boy’s only family wasn't miserable? Sirius was going crazy at the house, after more than a decade locked away, he finally breaks free, just to be locked away at the house he grew up in, a house that only remembered him of the abuse he suffered there. Harry and Sirius were really so fucking mistreated.
OH, AND THE FUCKING DEPARTAMENT OF MISTERIES BATTLE! What was he doing while everyone was there fighting against death eaters? He had something more important? Why just arrive at the end???
*I know he did a lot of good things and yes he had a heart but yall need to realize he wasn’t just an old goodie goodie guy, he was a person that had many flaws and made many mistakes. I’m sorry about my anger but Sirius Black is my favorite character and Dumbledore did him so dirty I can’t forgive.*

The foil of a king
I’ll develop a bit the idea that Carla Tsukinami is a foil of Karl Heinz. While I think this is not a new idea in the fandom, let’s try to give more depth to the topic.
The rest is under read more due to length
First: Names.
Karl has obvious german vibes, while Carla is its feminine form.
A quick research on Wikitionary (1), (2) shows that Karl means free-man from the proto-germanic, used as a nickname in Old Norse or as a given name in Old High German. Quite old, eh?
Dialovers is full of germanic references: Richter. Mertz. Heinz. Krone. Giesbasch. Rotingenberg. Banmaden. The ominous, dark germanic background is there in a meta sense.
The fact that of all the DiaLover’s suitors, Carla is the only one with a non-japanese name strikes me a lot.
Second: Appearances Both are tall men with long white hair and golden eyes. While we never may know how Karl originally looked like, in the current time line he has epic long hair and yellow eyes. However, Carla looks more stern than shady. Karl his shady and transmits chills, his design tells us he is sneaky, hiding something.
Third: As Individuals
Both are very intellent and have great magical power, however, Carla is limited due Endzeit, while Karl has deux ex machina abilities. As far as I remember, we never got to see Carla’s true unleashed potential, only glimpses of it. They are an oddity among their own kind when it comes of their prowess: king Giesbach was jealous and paranoid about prince Carla and Shin’s power doesn’t appear to rival Carla. Karl rules over the state of the Makai, can reset reality, changes his physical appearance, has knowledge about politics, diverse branches of science... we get it, he is clever and magically powerful.
Both are also open-minded individuals. I don’t recall if it was in Vandead Carnival or Lunatic Parade, but Yui gets to learn servants at Heinz’s castle were sent to learn about human customs. Karl appears to idealize humanity, but doesn’t limit himself to watch, he investigates and takes customs and information from there. He even sends his own children to a human school. Carla, for his part, reads both demon and human authors, and enjoys artistic content no matter the source.
Fourth: Younger brothers In Haunted Dark Bridal, Reiji tells Cordelia that if someone like her is the cause between Karl and Richter’s rift, then they mustn't have been close in the first place. We never see Richter interact with Karl. We know Richter had some sort of duel for Cordelia's hand, but lost it. In fact, we don't know much about the relationship between both brothers. We can only guess Richter has to constantly live in the shadow of his older brother. Yet, in Lost Eden he appeared to teach Ayato how to deal with the Eden Castle, he had important information. Both siblings have a distant relationship, but seemed to have been close enough at some point. Or they simply were taught how to deal with the Makai as princes. Or Karl gives him information as he sees fit. Then, we have Carla and Shin. While in some bad endings things end up in tragedy if Yui chooses to pursuit the other sibling, in the good ones, you get to see they give up the girl and remain close. They love each other. Shin behaves inmaturely and Carla is bad at openly expressing his love and concern to his brother. Carla bowed his head to a king he disliked and did something very violent to his younger sibling because losing Shin's life would have been worse. There's competence and resentment, however, you see them go past it and keep loving each other. The affection is there, they only needed to work their communication skills in order to have a healthier relationship.
Fifth: Their relationship with women We don't know much about Heinz's relationships with other women outside his three wives. In Lost Eden, Richter tells Kino his brother used to have many lovers. He seemed to behave as some sort of big-brother figure to Christa until she grow up. The thing is: he was abusive and manipulative to his wives, lacked empathy to their sufferings (and therefore, to their sons') but we don't know more about other women of his past. About other female figures. He has the whole I-am-bad-at-dealing-with-my-feelings excuse because the Eden would meet a bad ending. So, I can only say he was a horrible man to his wives, but lack information about other potential non-romantic and non-sexual relationships with women. One thing I really liked about Carla's route in Dark Fate is the narrative women were given. The Makai people are, obviously, a patriarchal society, I even bet there is some salic law for inheritance. Yet, we get to see how more women dealed with that society: Queen Krone not only feared for Carla when it came to the mistreatment he received from King Giesbach, but for her people too. Giesbach wasn't right in the head and she didn't like it, but had to give Carla a knife in order to stop the madness. Carla was close to his mother, and it is rare to see a positive mother-son relationship in Dialovers. There is lady/princess Nemae too: she was close to her nephews and did what she could in order to help her dying people. While both women met tragic endings, we got to see some positive actions in them. There is also Yui. in Dark Fate, Carla abuses and mistreats her, yet she stood it all bravely despite her fear. Yui is loyal, kind and honest with him. She managed to break past his roughness and help him move forward. Being shutted inside a castle full of dying people for years until Carla and Shin were the only ones left alive is something plainly taken from a horror movie and it left Shin and him full of resentment, but he gets to slowly start to walk forward. In Lost Eden he even asks for her opinion when it comes to his ideas. From Karl's side, we don't know what else he did with his wives, other than use them for child-bearing.
Sixth: Monarchy Both are kings. Carla is the king of the First Bloods, the original population of the Makai. Karl is the leader of the Bat Clan and, according to the reset in Lost Eden; it also appears his role as the king influences the Makai as a whole, having his feelings/state of mind connected to the topography of the place. However, all of Carla’s subjects, minus Shin, are dead due to the Endzeit pandemic. He only rules over their old castle... and wherever remains of the good ol’ Ancestor land? Heinz, meanwhile, rules over whatever territories reach the Bat’s domain. He also influences other clans (or at least knows how keep the Vibora Clan in control) and is a politician in the Japan of the Human Realm. Both introduce themselves as rather misterious individuals, however, Carla’s prominence is bigger to us, the fandom, as he is a character who has his own routes. Karl drives the plot, but always remains a secondary character. This means we get to know more about Carla than Karl. As I said in above, both are open-minded individuals. Heinz takes into consideration humanity(or rather, his own vision of it), and Carla does so too. In Lost Eden, Carla, in order to reach his goals, started an alliance with the Ghouls, despite the prejudices common demons hold against them, and ASKED YUI her opinion about it. He keeps it in mind all possible options, and doesn't mind doing something 'degrading' if it is for the greater good.
To conclude this: I really believe both characters, Carla and Karl, are foils to one another. However, while Karl never gets past his issues, Carla grows. We still lack information about Karl, so we don't know much about him in order to give him proper judgement, however, we know one thing: Karl idealizes humanity because he can't get over his issues and pushes the solution of them onto others: whoever ends up with Yui in that Adam and Eve plot. Carla, on the other hand, faces things and we see him grow. He is close to people, even if they are few (Shin and Yui), but at least we see him getting close to someone new: Yui. Karl, on the other side, keeps the spectre/spirit of Socrates as his friend... and seems to be the only close person he has. He loves Christa, but doesn't treat her well. Carla, on the other hand, allows Yui to accompany him

The Ominous Appearance of Cruelith
???: Everyone hates you, Marco Aurelio Cicerone...
Cicerone: ...Cruelith. (It was a very long time ago... it must be my primordial nemesis, since in beforelife.)
A shadowy image similar to Barubary comes from behind Cicerone.
Cruelith: It has been a hundredth time that you Roleplaying with others without permission, but you keep doing same errors.
Cicerone: ...I'll be carefu-
Cruelith: I DON'T WANT LISTENING YOUR FUCKING EXCUSES!!! Look all these people watching your misery... This is your Hell, Cicerone, you can never have friends, especially doing everything without permission. Also, your friends are dead, and they can never help you anymore.
Cicerone gets upset for misery, and thinking about death on his friends.
Cicerone: You... you're lying-
Cruelith: You're the one who lying, destined child! You bringed hatred upon the america, and now you're despaired just like Solitarius did the Demonkind. You're talking with yourself, NIGGER, EGOTISTIC, RAPIST, BLASPHEMER, COWARD.
Cicerone: Show me yourself, Cruelith, and stop mocking me and the people!
Cruelith: ...Fine, I will show you... YOURSELF!
Cruelith shows an appearance of Cicerone.
Cruelith: You have a Grey Soul, Cicerone, a soul that was punished with the almost same errors of Lucifer... but it insist to forgive yourself, purified from the own sins. Even after you're born... your dark past is inevitable.
Cicerone: Cruelith... you're the one behind... I will never forgive your atempt to destroy my life! And yet worse, I was punished for two years in Hell in Human year because I was exaggerated for having born before my sister, and now why I can't stop thinking all these bad thoughts!?
Cicerone awaken its true power, an immense power rivaling that of a Demi-God.
Cruelith: Is that all are you talking about? And then... you finally awakened your true power. Show me all your powers in you, Marco Aurelio Cicerone, the eternal last!
Cruelith shows its true form, and Cicerone charges an extremely powerful sphere of unknown energy; But Cruelith defeats him with one single scratch.
Cicerone: Why... why do you want to destroy me...
Cruelith: Your power has barely trembled the entire galaxy... I never seen how terrifying is your true power; You've barely feared even your nightmares. I'll apology for my wrongdoings; You're worthy enough to become a special person.
Cicerone: What? Why you don't destroy me?!
Cruelith: ...I can't; As you believe in yourself, believe in your own power, you're allowed to roleplay with others, so, you can ask them before roleplaying.
Cicerone: What kind of sense is this, you aren't evil?
Cruelith: ...I have no origins, and it's impossible I'm a demon, or djinn, whenever. Because these bad thoughs are like demons that haunt your mind, messing with you psychologically, and you realized that these bad thoughs are like psychic viruses of the seven mental disorders. We meet again in another place... after you get a permission to roleplaying with them whenever you want. If you do not... the story repeats WITHOUT discussions!
Cruelith disappear from nowhere...
It is unknown how Cruelith appeared in the first place... but it seems going to help Cicerone for no reason the moment he awakened his power in front of her. The rest is everything a mistery; Who is Cruelith? What are the "seven mental disorders"? And what about Cicerone?
