Summer 2008 - preserved moments

I could totally see them fabricating some lines, knowing that someone was capturing it at that moment.
But also the time and money going into this final season, and wasting a day of it just to get some pics, I think they could accomplish the same thing without so much effort put into it.
Like having Millie and Finn driven almost an hour out of Atlanta to this location, where the radio station is located, and having them walk out in a field to get there like in that one bts Ross posted, that’s just a lot of time for the actors and all the crew and cameras set up, that I don’t think they would be willing to waste all this valuable time just to confuse their audience.
Even Finn was performing perfectly according to how Mike generally acts, and I don’t see them wasting that on a fake scene.
They could have done something way more simple and cheap if the point of it was to simply convince people Mike and El were still romantic, like film them on the high school location holding hands or something while doing other shoots, without having to film a whole sequence at a location outside of Atlanta, where it seemed like their time was dedicated to that specific scene.
But I could be wrong, they could have still filmed the scene they intended to use and a fake one for roughly a minute, knowing the later would be leaked.
You could be right, but I just don't know why they'd orchestrate a leak showing El and Mike having a decidedly unromantic conversation if that's meant to be a plot point.
Of course, this all depends on whether or not it was orchestrated in the first place.

One of the things I loved about the Production Diary was the producers. The way Jimin chose to highlight them equally in the entire package. What we usually see from BTS is so member-focused with any staff that come into the shot blurred. I know a lot of that is for privacy but it still creates a weird impression of only BTS existing in their content. So to see so much of the producers doing what they’re good at was exciting. Pdogg was super comfortable. The other two avoided the camera more. But I love that they all agreed to show their process. How joyful they all were when the music worked. The way they all struggled with the lyrics. And how they supported Jimin learning. I think what they all did was so valuable for his music career. And clearly something they enjoyed too. Jimin really found the perfect way to release a doc on his own terms. Film it himself when he felt comfortable, surround himself with a team and show a lot of vulnerability while never saying or showing anything about his life outside of work.
I think this was a professional choice, as well as something that had to do with editing. Jimin and the three producers were the main team throughout those months. With other people playing small roles (like RM and JK and perhaps others we didn't see) and I understand why they weren't highlighted that much. The setting is more intimate as well and the choice to use mostly the entire footage from 2 places was deliberate and in tone with the nature of the album. It would have been easier to get more from the trip to LA for example, but that ended up being such a small part. The hard work, feeling tired and then elated, going through a rollercoaster of emotions happened there in that space (which is PDogg's house, right?) so in a way, the setting is this sort of character in itself. It takes a life of its own as it contains the evidence of what was happening throughout the entire time. Watching it, it made a lot more sense why Jimin said he spent months at the producer's home. They turned it not only into a creative space that everyone had a contribution to, but one in which it was just them, without exterior interference (from what's shown in the video and what is implied).

AITA for listening to my boss?
I, 28M, work for a highly sophisticated government organization. Let's just say it would be a breach of contract to say where, but you might have heard of it in some famous spy films, if you pay attention to that sort of thing.
About 8 months ago, I was part of a training exercise involving myself, my (at the time) friend (27M), and some other more important members of this organization. The exercise was to stop a (fake) terrorist in an airport, and I was given the most important role, watching security cameras and speaking to my friend over a microphone, pretty much directing the whole thing.
The situation here started when my direct superior (50?F) gave me the intel I was meant to give to my friend. She specifically told me that, while the planted suspect would be wearing a blue tee under a white shirt (or maybe the other way around, I can't remember at this point), I was to give my friend the opposite information. She told me not to question why, but if I listened, I could receive a promotion. She also told me this was for the good of the nation, and I love this nation, so even though it meant lying to my friend, I accepted.
The false info caused my friend to fail the training exercise (very badly), as my boss intended, and he narrowly avoided getting fired, since his grandfather used to be a big shot in this organization. Instead, he got relegated to a frankly laughable division focused on doing the pointless paperwork that none of us want to do here, while I received a comfortable job helping choose new hires.
Despite the fact that he's the one who failed the training exercise, he's acting like I'm in the wrong here. He also keeps calling me by a very unprofessional nickname, even though I have a more valuable position than he does, making me his superior in a way.
I don't think I'm to blame for any of this, as I simply received an opportunity for advancement and took it, while he made a mistake that led to his failure which, honestly, he probably would have made even if I didn't give him the false intel, which was an order from my superior anyways. AITA?

The Crowded Room: Tom Holland reveals how he defied a studio - over a hairstyle
In Cherry you played someone with PTSD, in Devil All the Time your mind went to all these dark and difficult places and here, there are memories that are disappearing from your life. What is your fascination with playing these characters who have these mental health struggles and challenges?
I’ve never really thought of it in that way, that I am kind of chasing characters with these ailments as such. I love a great story. I love a great challenge. I love working with great people and The Crowded Room offered all of those things.
Why did this particular project grab you?
I was shooting Spider-Man 3. I was in-between hanging upside down, fighting Alfred Molina and having the time of my life and I found out Akiva [Goldsman, The Crowded Room’s showrunner] wanted to speak to me about this project. I met with him on the Christmas break on Zoom and we immediately hit it off. Our 45-minute meeting turned into a two-hour epic about what The Crowded Room could be. He was kind enough to give me the job and the adventure started from there really.
What is it about you and New York?. First there was the Spider-Man trilogy – and now this. When is a statue going to be built there in your honour?
I’m probably the wrong person to ask that question. I’m a huge fan of New York. I was delighted to call it home for almost a year. It is as much a character in the show as I am. New York in the ‘70s was a pretty crazy place. I think our department heads did a pretty wonderful job of bringing that to life. It was very cool stepping into that era. It was also equally scary – it was a very, very different time.
Speaking of the scary ‘70s, did you get much say in the wardrobe – and that hairstyle in particular?
I tell you what mate, I learnt a really valuable lesson from Jake Gyllenhaal once – “commit to hair and makeup and commit to wardrobe. Do whatever you can to make yourself look as aesthetically different as possible with each role that you have” – and with Danny Sullivan, I went for it.
The studio wouldn’t really allow me to cut my in the way that we did. Ultimately, I just took an executive decision to say, “I’m going to do it anyway because this is how I think the character should look”. I’m delighted that we did, because I think the hair is the icing on the cake for the character.
As for the wardrobe? I loved the wardrobe. I’ve kept it all – I still wear the flared jeans. I think they did a wonderful job of putting that all together.
Talk us through that hairstyle. What made you so convinced that it had to be that way?
I think I trust my own judgement. My make-up artist Rachel Speke did these wonderful mood boards for what she wanted to achieve and we would sit there and look at these different pictures of people in New York in the ‘70s and so many times this haircut popped up.
I think we were a little hesitant, because it is a huge departure from what I look like in real life, but I just felt it was so important with the character like this to disappear into his life as much as possible and be as authentic to the period. I do remember showing up to the camera test and there being some rather unhappy faces, but I think they came around in the end.
I feel more comfortable making executive decisions now because Rachel and I have worked on five or six feature films together. I feel like we’ve always done a really good job – and it’s always for the service of the show.
It is such a complex role. How did you stay on top of all the facets of it?
I think we did a great job of scheduling it so lots of our actors’ stuff was in order, but that wasn’t the case for me. I was bouncing backwards and forwards in time on so many different days. Shooting multiple episodes on the same day was really, really tough. It meant we really had to be vigilant and prepared for every day’s work.
Ben Perkins, my acting coach, arguably saved the show. He was so good at making sure Danny’s arc was a strong cohesive one, not only to us making the show, but also to the audience.
There are some very intense scenes in The Crowded Room. What kind of on and off-set support did you have?
Akiva is a professional, he was a great ally on set. He’s not only a great friend, but also a great leader. I have a wonderful support system of friends – my brother was with me and my best friends from my personal life also work together as a team. Yes, there were times when I needed a shoulder to cry on – and I had plenty of shoulders to choose from. I was very lucky.
Since you became a star in the Spider-Man movies, you’ve also consistently stretched your acting skills in other, smaller roles – is that something you’ve deliberately sought out to do?
It’s something that I’m definitely very aware of. I love playing Spider-Man and Peter Parker, who I feel like is my best friend. He changed my life. I also have had two incredibly gifted agents since I was 13 years old who have been so good at positioning me to work at the right times with the right people.
It has definitely been something that has been in our strategic conversations about not getting put into one box. I love challenging myself. For me, it all comes under the same umbrella. It is something we think about and something we actively try to achieve.
Roles like this must take up so much energy and emotion – how do you take a break?
I am currently taking a year off. Today has been my first day of work in ‘23. I’ve been home, I’ve been lying low, I’ve been working on my house and building cupboards and gardening and all that sort of stuff.
I did know while I was making The Crowded Room that I did have this wonderfully long break coming up, so I took on the challenge, was dealing with the hardships of the character knowing that I had a break at the end.
I thought that after two months I’d be itching to get back on set. I’m now six months in and I’m absolutely loving my time off – I’m really enjoying myself.

DMD FTR: finale thoughts
i forgot to put this out because i've been in the process of being an employed adult human person these days, unfortunately (no one who saw my previous DMD FTR posts is surprised that i was unemployed). now i wont even get to have my weekly crisply shot and edited hang outs w Gen 3 besties while this new job is sucking my soul... but this was a pleasant finale to this sweet and chill and incredibly unsurprising show!
here's the thing: i dont even know who Domundi is trying to fool w this double win stuff cause they did literally announce the new gen would be acting in TWO (2) new series during their 2023 Line Up event???????
Tumblr media
so the double win wasn't a surprise AT ALL but it's okay, it didnt really diminish my enjoyment out of the show at all. i wanted both couples to have series anyway!
as i've said in my first post about this show, it has been very obvious that this shows' intention isn't to be a competition, it's more of a new gen "inauguration". they could've just put the boys through bunch of workshops and let them choose partners off camera too but they chose to put money and time in to make it a whole show, so people could witness their journey and premature fan clubs would form and develop. i think its fun and clever marketing but did it work???
well, the boys def have more fans now BUT on the same day this episode was premiering, some ZNN fans were crying about their faves (who just had a movie come out, also filming a show rn AND scheduled to film another one after) being slighted by the company and they didn't need to "add more". like i said, i don't really follow Domundi closely, if the fans are right about artist management i might not know... but their Gen 2 was extremely successful after all and people are BEGGING for more series, so it's not a bad move for a company to want to grow. i wish fans would be more mature and learn more the industry the person they "stan" works in! why would a growing company would just make shows w 2 actors over and over man, cmon 😭
okay now that i got that out of me, back to the finale. some notes about the general:
the group performance of the theme song was a bit cringe to me bc i just hate that kind of music. but everyone's ending fairies were really cuteeeee so i forgive them
real winners of the episode is the background dancers because they literally did all the performances and acted too, very well!!
Domundi members and variety of industry people in the audience was sweet to see and added valuable comments/advice for the boys. i was especially happy to see Jimmy and Tommy, whom i ADORE!!!!
i was laughing at that LOUD ASS clapping and hollering track they kept playing to add some more noise to the audience's. like i know why they did it but how much that big sound didn't match w that small crowd just tickled me..
well, yeah, i cant get into idol-ing stuff personally so i was kind of bored during the solo performances. i dont really have comments that hasn't already been said by the judges. i thought all the boys did what they were supposed to do and showcased their talents, EXCEPT Latte........ my dude, what happened? i think he could've lip sync to the song, which IS a skill (Rupaul's Drag Race battles and just drag performances in general as evidence...) that would add a lot to his performance.
Firstone leaving the competition w Best Friendship & Best Performance Awards in his pocket and two guys wanting to be his partner. What a little star... Deserved and love his cocky attitude.
about couple jukebox musicals:
in my last episode commentary, i joked about Mandee getting inspired from my ideas but then they actually kinda happened lol🧐🧐🧐🧐 ThomasKong's performance was a coming of age, young love story while KengNamping's story was more complex romance w an angsty core, almost exactly like i wished for.
all in all, KengNamping's performance grabbed my attention the most. mostly because their acting & chemistry seemed improved to me (that kiss fake out at the end, what the hell??? you guys couldn't hold an eye contact couple eps ago...) AND their storyline just ATEEEE. i dont know who came up w the forbidden romance between kinda out of touch but well meaning rich boy & his "i suffer through love quietly" village boy bodyguard, w humour sprinkled in, but they need to get their ass eaten regularly...
Tumblr media
ThomasKong don't even need to try that hard, they are just natural born charmers!!!! i liked their friends to lovers, nerdy guy cant believe popular one' love bc he doesnt see his value storyline (Thomas could've busted out One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful"). With the romantic prom climax, it reminded me of American high school movies and fit their vibes perfectly. i wish it was more humorous, because i think comedy is one of their strong suits. like how did it ended up that shy kings KengNamping got more laughs than ThomasKong, the goofballs themselves??? whoever is writing their series, please take notes, now that i know you are reading these...
after the glorious double win and the cute four-way hug, Aof said that two shows would be announced this year which clearly meant that most we are getting this year are pilot trailers. which is fine. not easy to be patient but i get that they are a smaller company w lots on their plates already. i hope they will use that time to work and work and work on the shows!!!!
i honestly want Domundi to kind of change up things in their filmmaking/producing styles, maybe switch directors sometimes and try diffferent styles idk... this show and Gen 3 in general felt very refreshing and i hope they keep that vibe going! and maybe i will finally watch a Domundi show till the last episode.
Tumblr media
P.S.: Extra clips were released this week and KengNamping's was sweet. i was kinda laughing at how much of a set up it was like, them conveniently sharing a blanket, all mic'd up, getting filmed w lights on etc. but their conversation and mood in the moment seemed sincere, which is enough. it was nice to see the context for ep 5, when they found each other at the other end of the red ribbon and said that so much happened on that bridge. what a perfect circle moment, from comforting each other about not winning a challenge to winning the show!

Hi! I have a few points about dates and such, so I'll just get to it:
- Miles' quiz says Decembruary 2, 2018 (but a poster later in the film says December, so that's just him playing dumb in front of his teacher).
- Jeff says Miles has been at the school for two weeks when he drops him off at the start.
- If you count the days as the movie progresses, it's about 6-7 days. There might be a few unseen days between Peter's body being found and his funeral, but if we assume he's buried immediately after, it takes place in about one week.
-The security cameras when Spot tries to steal the ATM seem to say it's July 2023. Consistency!
Anyway, the date on the quiz plus the fact that the film was released in December 2018 makes me think it also takes place then.
Thanks for your notes! I have some things to point.
I actually knew about the Decembruary detail! I watched the ITSV video from CinemaWins.
Actually, what Jeff says is that Miles needs to give it at least 2 weeks, not that he has been there for that long.
Tumblr media
The week reference is interesting! Thanks.
Huh, I didn't notice that detail previously.
Tumblr media
Now, with these details out of the way, what we can say?
I was right on the money about the creators not paying too much attention to dates. My original theory was that they avoided putting anything too concrete to don't run into timeline problems.
Is good to keep in mind that both the test (Miles could have easily put the wrong year too, considering he put Decembruary;) and the Security Camera are all little details that aren't really relevant to the plot; like this isn't an "if we don't do this before X date the world ends. I consider Miles Saying "And for the past year and four months" heavier proof of the time passed that what the security camera and the test had written on aren't as valuable as that. After all, if this ITSV happened on December 2018 but ATSV was on July 2023, that would mean it has been over almost 5 years for them, which has obviously not been the case.
So with the pieces of this new puzzle, what do we end up with?
New Dates
If we weigh the test Miles failed on Purpose vs the Security Camera, I think believing the Security camera makes more sense. Miles putting 2018 on a test that already says Decembruary can easily be chalked to him wanting to mess up even more.
If it has been a year and four months since he became Spiderman, and in July in ATSV, this would mean that Into the Spiderverse is happening around March.
This would mean Miles having this birthday fall between March and July, and Gwen's possible Birthday months to move from June to October.
If we continue to go with my theory of the outfits they use in the movie can count as a measurement of time, I would say March and June are very likely.
Headcanon dates for the new timeline
While I may or may not go with these dates in future stories (Which I will explain my reasoning later for those who like my fic writing.) I thought it would be fun to give some new headcanons to these dates.
Since the anomaly situation hasn't been done, my alternative number for Miles would be 24. Why 24? Because the number 42 plays a big role in his life (is the number which he won the "lottery," his spider is from that dimension, and is seen around in ITSV a lot too.) And since 42 can't be a date, 24 it is.
For Gwen, I thought it would be fun that since her universe is 65, and the month of June seems like a good lead, her birthday could be June 5 (since 06/05) I know this means there isn't an example of 15 months of difference between them, however, I think everybody goes more with the month than the exact day for these things.
I have a cousin who is roughly, 20 days older than me, but we always said "a month" while mentioned in passing because why bother with semantics.
Will I ignore this in my writing? Probably
Now, this next section is mostly there for those who like my writing, since usually, the headcanons I have here tend to translate into my works.
I will probably go with my original dates.
Here is my situation; I could believe Miles is in school in July because of the alternative universe (it seems traditionally it ends in June.) I could believe they use fluffy jackets in July because, in Miles' universe, July is colder than our own; heck I was joking with my partner that Miles probably didn't have coronavirus in his universe and the reactions to other spideys who dealt with that,
What I can't deal with, is Miles starting school in March.
While students can move to other schools all year around, the fact that the lottery part is mentioned as well as the test, makes me think this has to be at a reasonable timeline for the school year. After all, why they would host a lottery for a student when the school year ends in four months? Why Rio and Jeff would try to make Miles change school if nothing prompt them to?
Granted, this could be explained with the school year working differently, maybe they start in January, and is still early enough to do this, or start in March.
However, I disqualified the December bit (which I also discard because NO ONE HAS A STUDENT START CLASSES JUST BEFORE WINTER BREAK UNLESS THEY ARE MOVING OR SOMETHING SIMILAR.) I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to put imagine it was in December just because.
Again, this is not an important detail. Gwen's dad is different between ITSV and ATSV, as well as the fact that the situation and Peter's look are different.
(You could make the case it looks like this because Miles is imagining everything instead of being a faithful adaption. However, I firmly believe they didn't put too much time into it or stick with those concepts because it wasn't necessary. Also, this will mean Peter B maybe wasn't eating pizza instead of pushups, and I will NOT give up that.)
Why not have a different way the calendar works? Too many details to keep track of, and fics are supposed to be fun; I will not try to bend backward my writing to adhere to the canon if is not enjoyable.
Is not the only time I do this, Noir should be around 19 because of comics and stuff, but if you think I will give up the idea that Noir is in his 40s, you are dead wrong.
This part will be edited into the original post (since people don't tend to reblog reblogs, I prefer people will have the chance to see the corrections.) And queue for tomorrow so more people can see it.
Also, I made a mistake in my original post, I said Gwen's Birthday would be in June, when in reality it should May, sorry for the confusion!
If you read all the way, thank you for your patience! I know this is long.

Christoph’s Esquire 2023 Interview
Tumblr media
Here is a translation of Christoph's interview with Patrick Heidmann featured in the new Esquire Magazine :
Christoph Waltz is looking a little skeptical for our greeting on the terrasse of the time-honored Ausonia Hungaria hotel on the Lido di Venezia. Typical. During our conversation he expresses precise thoughts, formulated moodily. Just as typical.
Mister Waltz, a few years ago I asked if acting was a passion to you. You denied and said it was simply a profession. Is your view still the same?
Well, what do you mean, ‘denied’? I questioned it, or rather, I questioned whether it is something worth worrying about. In general, I think that the so-called passion that now likes to buzz through the vocabulary in conversation is grossly overrated. As if it was only about the extend of my emotions for or against a matter. That doesn’t strike me a particularly valuable or productive approach. Passion is an emotional matter which in my opinion fails to contribute to ascertaining the truth in most cases.
You sound like you have a very pragmatic view of your job.
Yes, I have.
Does that also mean you could live without acting? Or would you be missing something?
I don’t know, I haven’t tried, and I don’t intend to, I’m way too stubborn for that. Whether it is acting or something else, the significance may decrease over time, but what becomes increasingly important is that you deal with something in such detail that you spend a lifetime with it. I have to invest many, many years to reach a certain level. This investment is permanent, it isn’t suddenly completed from which point on I’ll be able to live on the interest. Of course, I suppose I could do that, but I don’t find that very interesting. For that reason alone, it's only logical that I continue to practice what I've been doing for the past 45 years.
Your new film Dead for a Dollar is a classical western in many ways. Do you have a special connection to this iconic genre?
No not at all. I have neither a great knowledge nor a special fascination for it. In general, genre is not a category that particularly interests me. I watch each film individually. Of course, certain regularities are unavoidable in westerns, which makes them a genre. But I don't really think about their requirements. I don't analyze it and I don't read anything about it either, although there is - guaranteed for good reasons - a lot of literature about it. However, I just care about the story at hand.
Do you have certain criteria that you use to decide whether a project or screenplay interests you? Is the story the most important thing? your specific role? Or the person behind the camera?
It's more of an amoeba thing. A combination of many aspects that always fluctuates dynamically. And it still fluctuates dynamically even while a film is being made. That is why I have no strict set of rules I follow point by point to reach a decision.
But are these more head decisions? Or is it mostly a matter of gut feeling? It's difficult to prevent gut feelings from playing a role.
Something that makes sense in every way, but I don't like wouldn't make much sense after all. And if you're thinking about something for too long and you're struggling with it, it's better to let it be.
The director of Dead for a Dollar is Hollywood icon Walter Hill. Does it make a difference for you to work with someone so experienced?
Of course. Not the fact that he is an icon, but the difference lies in what made him an icon. To work with someone who has been working as a director for over 50 years can’t be measured in gold. Few people have so much experience. I find that incredibly attractive. Because the start-up phase, the intermediate phase, the many ups and downs - all of that has long since been overcome. When someone is as experienced as Walter, they approach things in a much more direct way.
Conversely, directorial debuts are not really your thing?
This is actually a completely different situation. And no, they’re truly not my thing. Partially, because I'm not completely inexperienced myself. Certainly, there can be exceptions, with particularly interesting projects, where I think for special reasons that I can really make a good contribution and I'm willing to get involved with it for other reasons too. But as you can see, there are quite a few ifs and buts. Overall, I find it very rewarding to work with very experienced people. Simply because, as I said, the way to the core is a shorter one.
You’ve already directed yourself. Are you still interested in directing something in the future?
Yes, I have plans to do it again. But for now, they remain my plans. To turn them into more, they would have to become the plans of others too.
At the world premiere for Dead for a Dollar you spoke of discipline. Is that the A and O for an actor?
No, in this context it was only about the fact that Walter Hill as a director is a very disciplined worker. But I think taking a certain discipline as a requirement without making a fuss about it is a wonderful thing. It starts with that! All know what they have to do and are willing to do it, under conditions that should not be detrimental to the cause. That’s all. I never meant a Prussian military discipline. Just keep going, sensibly, that’s enough.
During your career, you have certainly come across colleagues who handle things differently. How do you deal with that?
That is certainly happening more and more often. The question is less how you deal with them and more how you get away from them! If, as is now occasionally the case, as the eldest on location, you simply do your job in a disciplined manner, completely independent of the magnificence of the art, then many more pull themselves together. And that's very good.
Why is it becoming more common for others to have a perhaps not-so-solid work ethic?
Because it's becoming more and more important for many people how they feel. Which brings us back to the question of supposed passion.
In Dead for a Dollar your character is asked if he is actually Swedish or Dutch. The dry answer is: I'm an American. Do you now also feel like an American?
No, but I also have no idea how one feels like an American. The culture is certainly becoming more familiar, but that is specifically the Californian culture. The differences within the country are at least as big as they are in Germany. I will never feel like an American. I arrived there much too late for that.
Is your connection to Europe still strong? Do you follow what is happening in the old homeland?
I follow the Bundesliga a bit. And otherwise, when crucial things are pending, such as the elections in Italy or the federal presidential election in Austria.
And the German-language cinema?
If things come my way that interest me, then of course I look at them. But I wouldn't call that active pursuit.
Do you sometimes still get offers for roles in German films?
Occasionally there will be more offers. But, only for films that I would not have accepted even 30 years ago. That's very strange.
Quickly following up because Mikhail Gorbachev died this year. Shouldn't you be in a miniseries starring Michael Douglas as Ronald Reagan?
That is no longer current.
But you will be seen as the great filmmaker Billy Wilder in a film by Stephen Frears, correct?
Yes, that is still happening. But it must be noted that it won’t be a biopic. I wouldn’t have agreed to one.
Why is that?
Because I'm stuck trying to imitate people. The audience then expects mimicry, and that's what an impersonator does. Some are incredibly good at imitating people, but I’m not. I don't like biopics that become a make-up opera that's all about the resemblance. I know there are many who find this fascinating, but it bores me terribly. Billy Wilder & Me is different, a very personal story in which I'm not even supposed to play the main character. The film is not based on a biography but on a novel, the protagonist is a fictional character, and the story is limited to a very specific period of time. That was important to me and deflated my fear of biopics

[Gakuen K] Totsuka Tatara Route Translation
Photographing senpai
Tumblr media
LIST OF CHAPTERS
[Translation under the cut]
Tumblr media
Saya: Whoa...
Totsuka: Okinawa is somewhat exotic, isn't it?
Saya: Yeah! Very!
Saya: I never thought we would be able to go on a school trip together.
Totsuka: That’s because our school combined 2nd and 3rd years. I'm glad we got to go together.
Saya: By the way, where's Suo-senpai?
Totsuka: He said he's going to relax at the hotel.
Saya: All day? What a waste of your time in Okinawa...
Totsuka: Since he was here last summer, he coudn't come up with a place to look around.
Saya: Is that so! ...Even Suoh-senpai travels.
Totsuka: It was a little different than the trip. The Red club went for a training camp here.
Totsuka: When we were deciding where to go the South island was on the list. It was decided to go to Okinawa because it was "within budget".
Saya: Okinawa as a training camp, sounds amazing.
Totsuka: Uhm. Because of that, the club's budget went through the roof. This year's camp was very simple.
Saya: That's not true. I had fun, so I'm very satisfied!
Saya: Since you came here for the club activities, is this your second time in Okinawa?
Totsuka: No, this is my third. Somehow I got on the ship before and arrived here.
Saya: S-somehow got on the ship...
Totsuka: Uhm. Has this kind of thing never happened to you?
Saya: Never. ...I'm worried that senpai might go somewhere in a daze.
Totsuka: I'm often told that. If there's a place you want to go, just let me know and I'll show you around.
Saya: Okay, I got it. ...Oh, right.
Saya: Can I stop by the store there? I want to buy something.
Totsuka: Souvenirs? I know a great place, shall I show you?
Saya: No, this one is fine. I know what I'm after. I'll buy it quickly!
Tumblr media
Saya: I'm t-tired...
Totsuka: Haha. Sorry for dragging you around.
Saya: N-no. Thank you for this valuable experience.
Saya: ...I never thought I would see snake vs. mongoose fight.
Totsuka: Too bad it was a film. It's the only way to do it legally.
Totsuka: I'm glad you bought the pair of straps you've been wishing for. I've always wanted one someday.
Totsuka: I hope you'll take good care of a mongoose strap.
Saya: ...Em, senpai. Please don't move,
Totsuka: You've been taking a lot of photos today, haven't you?
Saya: Uhm. Because I promised to photograph senpai.
Saya: (I didn't have a camera, so I was glad to find a store that sold instant cameras)
Saya: Uhm, it looks good! Senpai, look at this.
Totsuka: Wow, finally I'm the only one in the photo.
Saya: I only took photos of senpai. If you see anyone else in the photos, they’re ghosts.
Totsuka: Ghost photography, that's fascinating. Hey, do you have any more tape left?
Saya: Emmm...Yeah, just one more.
Totsuka: Well, then, let me take your photo. It's not fair that I'm the only one being photographed.
Tumblr media
Choice: [Let's take photo together] ❤️
Saya: Well, why don't we take a photo together?
Totsuka: Ah... I didn't think of that. Okay, let's do it.
Totsuka: I wonder if that's enough for me to fit in...Would it be better to stay a bit closer?
Saya: N-no. That much would be enough.
Saya: (I get nervous when he’s so close...)
Totsuka: ...A bit more closer. Okay, cheese!
Saya: !
Totsuka: Let's see, let's see, how's the photo turned out...Heh, you have such a weird face.
Saya: D-Don't say that, please.
Totsuka: With those wide-open eyes you look like a pygmy marmoset.
Saya: I don't know what a pygmy-whatever is, so please don't tease me...
Totsuka: I'm not teasing you. You're cute, very cute.
Saya: Don't say that...It's senpai's fault I got that expression on my face.
Saya: I was surprised because you get too close, and then it happened.
Totsuka: Heeeh. So that's my achievement, huh? Hey, can I take this photo?
Saya: You want it?
Totsuka: Uhm. I want it. I want it so much. I'd love to keep it as a family heirloom.
Saya: I wish you wouldn't do it the heirloom, but... It's okay, take it, please.
Totsuka: Fufu, thanks. ...Photos are great. I can always carry them with me.
Saya: You'll carry it around with you!?
Totsuka: I intend to. It's pointlessness for you to say "give it back" to me now, right? It's mine now.
Saya: Please don't show it to anyone...
Tumblr media
Choice: [Be patient please]
Saya: Be patient please. Okay, cheese.
Totsuka: Oh, the last precious one.
Saya: I captured senpai's careless expression. ...Fufu, cute.
Totsuka: Eeeeh, it's not cute. It looks kinda dumb.
Saya: That's what makes it so cute. I have to make sure not to lose it.
Totsuka: As for me, I wish you would lose it.
Tumblr media
Kusanagi: Ha-ah. Did you go to see Snake vs Mongoose again?
Saya: "Again"?
Kusanagi: That's right. Last year at the camp. Me and this guy went separately. I heard he went to see the movie with Mikoto.
Totsuka: I was hoping to see a live battle this time. It was no good.
Kusanagi: Obviously. It's forbidden by law.
Totsuka: And yet it's not impossible that there are people from dark organizations hiding in the shadows, is it?
Kusanagi: Would a dark organization contact with a mere high school student? You idiot.
Kusanagi: You were on a date in Okinawa and were dragged to that boring thing, it must have been awful, wasn't it?
Saya: Not really. I had a lot of fun.
Saya: Oh, yeah, I took some photos. Would you like to take a look?
Kusanagi: Oh, really? Let me see...
Kusanagi: ...Eeeh.
Kusanagi: ...Eh?
Kusanagi: ...Is your camera broken? There are only Totsuka on the photos.
Saya: It's not broken. I took these photos focusing on Totsuka-senpai.
Kusanagi: It's not just "focusing", he's almost in all of them! I could merely see Okinawa! Everything is overflowing with Totsuka, it's scaring!
Totsuka: Yaaah, thanks to her I've got to know the pressure of being photographed.
Kusanagi: I've got to know the fear of being shown off... Well...You two are a good match and get along well. Thank you for the meal...

The half of me Chapter 10
Tumblr media
Chapter 9
I want to apologize in advance for the change in narrative. I know we are already at chapter 10, but the truth is that I still don't like it in the third person and it makes me a little angry to see that I don't like it when I describe some things well (all this from my point of view), like this which I will change to first starting in this chapter. I really like writing from the character's point of view. My apologies again 🙏 🙏 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I decide to focus on finding an online store some glass for the store that I destroyed. I hadn't thought about the store since the first day in Daliah's apartment, packing up her things. I had to at least set it up so we could sell some things we could use before customers wanted to sell things they didn't want or have value. But I have to wait for Mom to be in the right mood. She was the valuables expert.
Mom…
I haven't spoken to her since I went home with my friends. I didn't even talk to her at the funeral. She was so absent that… It was as if she had forgotten that she had another daughter. But I can't blame her. Maybe she thinks I'm old enough not to need my mother trailing behind me like a little girl… Wondering how I am… If I'm okay… If something hurts…    "Don't be mad, MC…" I sigh, shaking my head to focus "You know how things are lately."     I get a notification on my phone. Someone has added me. It's Carter. I smile relieved. At least he's someone I know who knows Jane perfectly well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Carter Good morning MC I wanted to apologize for what happened with Jane yesterday As I said, she is somewhat upset with what happened 😔
MC No, don’t worry I’m also a bit bad with everything that is happening.
Carter While I was making dinner for my brothers, I began to think about what you said In which she received a toy of a horse
MC Do you know anything about it?
Carter Unfortunately, no But I've been thinking that it could be any of us... And I don't want to point anyone out, but Seo-ah is good at crafts
MC Crafts?  I don't think I said what kind of toy it was...
Carter Oh! No! Don't think wrong! Grace told me this morning before going into classes And right now, I can't concentrate while I'm trying to find information about the best film directors
MC Oh right You wanted to be a director
Carter Yeah Now it was my turn to direct and Mason to handle the camera Although he was not very happy about it  🙄
MC Huh huh… It must be pretty tough then
Carter Mason likes to be the boss And more when it comes to impressing Seo-ah But don't tell anyone that I told you 😋
MC And why did you say about Seo-ah and crafts? Do you suspect that it could be her?
Carter Hmm… I don't believe it Well, at least, not that she’s a prankster But it was out of curiosity
MC You won't say it so I don't suspect Jane?
Carter I know, I know that Jane is a little difficult sometimes But when you know her well, she's a good girl It's just that both Jane and Daliah had their differences.
MC What kind of differences? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After that question, Carter fell silent. I wait for his answer, starting to get nervous.
I take out the lipstick balm I had bought yesterday before I got home and put it on my lips. I lately made myself more nervous than usual and my lips couldn't stand so much dryness.
I finally get a text from Carter, but my hopes are dashed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Carter Sorry MC, I was talking to a teacher We have to meet about the movie Since after Daliah, there are many things that we need to change in the short
MC Yes of course I understand We'll talk later
Carter Okay Well bye 🙂
----Carter has disconnected---- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I put the phone aside, raising my hands to my head.
That damn movie… I'm sure Daliah didn't even really want to be involved, but by dedicating herself to studying everything related to film, she had to cover all the subjects she could. I smile when I remember the first time she had to shoot a short while handling a camera. She hated having to handle it herself, complaining that she didn't like carrying something so heavy. But that was the situation, if you wanted to be in those film classes, you had to practice each and every one of the subjects that they covered.
I hear the song Lavender Haze in the background and I remember that I had not put Spotify on. I look at my phone remembering that it was the melody I had on. Sometimes I forget when I'm concentrating.    "Hi Dan." I answered, not taking my eyes off the computer.    "Hello, MC" he greets me, encouraged ", we were wondering if you wanted to meet us before we go to Duskwood."    "Yeah, sure" I replied, finishing ordering from the window shop. It's going to be more expensive than my apartment ", the truth is that I have something important to tell you."    "Uh, that sounds like a good deal and it sounds really weird about you" he laughs and I join him ". We will be in a restaurant called ‘In the Paradise’-"    "Oh yeah, I know which one it is, we used to go there as a family every Saturday." I replied, turning off the computer.    "Then I shouldn't give you directions" he jokes, knowing I'm from here ". We'll be waiting for you."    "Okay, I'll try not to be late."    "Later, MC."     I hang up and tap my phone. I should tell them the truth about everything I'm doing, but I know that if I mention Jake, Dan will be upset that I'm getting back in touch with him after everything that happened.
I get out of bed and go to the closet for something decent to wear. I see Daliah's clothes and for a second I think about putting them on. I back off grabbing a shirt and jeans like always, then head straight for the bathroom. I'm not ready to go out in her clothes yet.
As soon as I get ready after my shower, I see that I have a new message from Ralph. He has added me at the time when I was busy. It seems that little by little they want to have contact with me. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ralph Hey Uh This… I guess you didn't expect me to add you, did you? 😅
MC No, the truth is that no But I guess it's to help me, right?
Ralph Yeah I'm sure what happened in the chat has left you a little confused.
MC Well… You are quite a peculiar group
Ralph Yeah It's not that we have the same tastes and things like that The truth is, we're only together because we're good at what we do. We are better together Or that's what they say in TV dramas, right?
MC Haha, I guess By the way Ralph Thanks for making Daliah's funeral video It turned out very nice 🙂
Ralph You are welcome Um… Well, actually I wanted to tell you something It's about Jane
MC That she and Daliah didn't get along?
Ralph That they did not get along is not enough Let's just say you never agreed with each other. And then there is Carter
MC What does Carter have to do with it?
Ralph Except that he was Daliah's friend and Jane's boyfriend? He was always between the two of them, trying to calm them down. But Jane was always making her usual little speech And Daliah with her sarcastic laugh They were both like... How would you say it?
MC Queen bees?
Ralph Something like that If you want to know my opinion, I think there was something else behind their rivalry And precisely, it is Carter
MC You mean Jane was jealous of Daliah because they got along?
Ralph I think that… There was some kind of love triangle between them. Once we had to separate them because they almost reached each other's hands
MC Excuse me?! Daliah has never told me that!
Ralph Because maybe she didn't want to worry you You were her sister after all I think that's all I have to say about Jane. If it serves you as information
MC Thanks Ralph It's interesting to know this
Ralph You're welcome MC Hopefully soon we know who it was. I don't want to say directly that it was Jane, but… Who knows? This town hides too many crazy people And Jane is one of them.
MC Hmm… Well, I wouldn't call her crazy
Ralph Because you still don't know her Give her time to show her true nature Anyway… We’ll talk about it
MC Yes of course
Ralph And… I didn't expect you to be such an awesome girl Investigating your sister's death and all that. After so many rumors and you never talk to anyone, I thought you were really a psychopath
MC Well, you see that no I'm totally normal
Ralph Yes, I see it well 😆 Until we meet again, MC
----Ralph has disconnected---- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I keep my gaze straight ahead, thinking about this information about Jane. The conversation they had must have been something strong enough to reach the extremes of fighting and almost coming to blows.    "Jane and Seo-ah…" I murmur, given the information I've been given "But Carter has reason to divert Jane's attention and focus on someone else…"    <<And I still have nothing against Seo-ah, her crafting means nothing. On the other hand, that Jane and Daliah had a fight is something very positive for the investigation. >>     I put my phone in my bag and put on my sneakers, ready to go. I look forward to discussing this new information with Jake later.    "Let's hope everything goes well."
When I get to the restaurant I adjust my bag and let out a heavy sigh, hoping they won't get mad at me for what I'm doing. When I enter I see them animated at a table. Who was going to tell me that I was going to have a group of friends? I smile to see them and approach.    "Hello." I greet, placing things on an empty chair.    "Hello MC." Cleo greets me with a hug "What happened yesterday? You didn't contact us."    "That's exactly why I agreed to come here." I sit up and watch her face change expression.     Dan crosses his arms, waiting for me to speak. Jessy frowns at me, confused. Cleo places her hands on the table. Phil is kind of relaxed in the chair. I took a breath, closing my eyes trying to sort the words out of my head.    "It's about…" I look at them a little afraid of their opinions "I'm investigating Daliah's murder, along with the help of 'him' " I whisper at the table, so that no one else outside the group would hear.     I watch Dan start to change his face, rubbing his hand together in annoyance.    "But what are you saying?" Jessy asks me nervously "MC! It's not a kidnapping! They murdered your sister!"    "And that's not the case either." Dan leans against the table and points his finger at me "What's he doing back? Didn't he give you enough trouble to put you in danger again?"    “Who is Dan talking about?” Phil asks Cleo.    “Nobody you should know about.” she answers, looking at me angrily.     I shrugged into the chair, uncomfortable with the situation. I knew that was going to happen.    "I know" I answered, in a calm voice ", but I worried him because he thought it was me who died-"    “Sure! Let him try to fix it now!" Dan exclaims, furious.    “Dan, calm down.” Jessy says, holding him back.     He calms down and leans back in his chair. Then Jessy looks at me, concerned.    “You understand how we feel about all of this,” my friend tells me, releasing Dan slowly “, but he put you in the FBI's crosshairs for a while, what if it happens again?"     I start tugging at my shirt sleeve nervously. I don't think it's going to happen thanks to the Nymos chat, I think that's the only thing they haven't been able to detect, besides when they saw it, I told them it was some kind of note-keeping app.
Curious that in the end it turned into something real.
I try to calm down, not because I feel like I'm doing something wrong by being in contact with Jake again.    "You see it?" Daliah appears between Dan and Jessy, leaning on the table with her hands under her chin "If you didn't listen to me, why don't you listen to them? Stay away from him."    "I won't." I reply, looking at her.    "MC?" Cleo looks at me and I look surprised "Are you okay?"    "Yes, sorry..."     I try to hide my face with my hair. I hear Phil snort, then look around the group.    "I don't know exactly what you're talking about" he begins to say ", but I don't think this person has anything to do with whether or not this person is helping her, it's just that she's getting into another fucking mess again."    "We know that, Mister Aurora" answers Dan, looking at him furiously ", that's why we don't want him to get into trouble again either."    "Nothing will happen to me" I answered, trying to remain calm ". I understand you don't like the idea-"    "Zero, true, exact, unconditionally." they all say at the same time.     I shake my head. I fully understand how everyone feels, but I need support on this.    “The police are always watching me” I say slowly, so they understand there's no problem “and he's just passing me clues we found in Daliah's journal."    "Stop right there." Dan raises his hand, confused "Daliah had a journal and this guy has it?"    "Yes" I nod slowly ". Daliah's computer was locked with a virus and all the files in that diary are affected, that's why I need his help."    "MC..." Cleo shakes her head, disappointed "You should have told us before."    "That's why I'm telling you now" I look at them decisively ", believe in me when I tell you that everything is going to be alright."     They look at me with doubt, fear and concern. I wait for their response, but they just stay silent.
Finally, Dan sighs, looking at me concerned.    "If something happens, you come to Duskwood immediately" he tells me as if he were a father or a brother ", no staying here with a murderer, do you understand me?"    "Yes."    “We don't want to lose you after all you've done for us. To be clear."     I smiled at him and Jessy gave him a kiss on the cheek with pride in his words. Phil rolls his eyes at the sight of them.    “Great, looks like I'm the only one sane that this isn't a good idea.” he says as he pinches the bridge of his nose.    "Well, you didn't to come with us." Cleo answers, annoyed with him.    "Please, it's our last day together" I say, looking at them ", a truce just for today?"     Cleo and Phil look at each other in disgust, but in the end they shake hands, although they don't look at each other's faces. I giggle and Cleo wipes her hand on a napkin. Phil mumbles "exaggerated."    <<I don't think they'll ever get along, do they? >>
After the meal, they go to the hostel and together with their suitcases, we go to the train station. One by one I say goodbye to them, even Jessy still talks to me worried.    "Please keep us informed of everything you discover, okay?" She tells me a little sad.    "Yes, I will" I nod, looking at them "See you soon guys."    “By the way” Phil points to me, along with a smile “, I've been told you can play the guitar and sing, so you have a special slot at the Aurora when you want to perform."     I look at Jessy who shrugs. They knew I sing for the night of the bonfire in the hut, because out of nowhere a lyric popped into my head and I couldn't help but sing. It was instant. The guitar thing came later, when we all started hanging out and Thomas lent me his guitar. After Jake, they were the ones that I showed them my love for music. Along with Daliah.    "Thanks Phil, I'll see if I can one day." I lie a little, I still don't dare to show the rest of the world my songs.    "You're welcome, cute." he winks at me, but I know he's not doing it to flirt.     The train arrives and they slowly approach. Cleo waves her hand goodbye and the rest of her follow.    "Be careful, okay?" She tells me before they close the door "And no putting herself in danger."    “I'll have it!” I exclaimed, as the doors closed.     The train starts to leave and I keep waving. I sigh putting a hand to my chest, melancholic.
I have been completely alone.
I take a walk through the town while I go in the direction of my house. I want to take things to clean the store. I should do it before they bring in the glass and ask me too many questions.    “Which reminds me… I need a new lamp and bookshelves” I say with a sigh ". Great MC… You did great."     The ringtone rings. I can notice a shy smile when seeing the name of Nymos on it.    "Hello?"    "Are you busy?" I hear Jake on the other end of the line.    "I'm in the street" I answered, while I looked around me ", I want to be careful with what I say."    "Understood" he replies, his voice calm ". I have read the chats."    "And what do you think?"    “Pretty interesting” He makes a throaty noise and I swallow hard at the sound of him. The sound of his voice always keeps me distracted from my thoughts ". I think Carter wants to divert Jane's suspicions with Seo-ah."    "I've thought about it too" I stop for a moment and lean against a wall, to concentrate on the conversation ", and the information I've gotten afterwards has been much better than I expected."    “So, Ralph saw Jane and Daliah fighting."    "And quite a strong fight" I reply, remembering the conversation ". They almost hit each other."    "If we find out why, surely we can expand the theory that Jane might be guilty."     I look at the undercover police car. Elliot is still my watchman. I wonder when he sleeps. I know that he knows that I have noticed him, because he gives me a signal to see if everything is okay. I nod slowly, so it doesn't show.    "MC" I hear Jake call me "Is everything alright?"    "Yes, excuse me" I resume walking ", I was looking at the police car that was following me."    "Is Elliot still the one protecting you?"    "Yes, why?"    "For nothing."     I look at my phone for a moment when I hear him upset, why is he like this? He always seems upset when it comes to other guys. Is he…. I shake my head. No. To think that he is jealous is nonsense, why would he be?    "MC, a conversation now." he tells me quickly.     I stop for a moment and watch the spy chat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mason Seo-ah
----Seo-ah has connected----
Seo-ah ? Yes, whats up?
Mason What do you think about yesterday's chat? 🤔
Seo-ah Hmm… I think Jane went a bit too far... I don't know… But I don't want to talk bad about her either 🙁
Mason Yeah, me the same I understand the rivalry that she and Daliah had but… My goodness! Jane cross the line! 😩
Seo-ah I know I still remember when Daliah confronted her because she convinced a group to choose Jane They both really loved to stand out 😓
Mason But that was always so The worst was when they got into a serious fight Do you remember what Jane yelled at her?
Seo-ah Yeah… I like to think that she told her because she was really angry…
Mason ''The murderer should have taken you! You are a real bitch!’’ It was scary! I don't think I've ever seen them so confronted
Seo-ah And do you know why?
Mason No idea Luckily Carter separated them in time Because the rest of the class was recording the video
Seo-ah Oh right What happened to that video?
Mason Hmm… I don't know if they managed to upload it to social networks 🤔 Hey, I have a couple of things recorder and I'd like to get someone's opinion Where are you?
Seo-ah I'm at the academy I can help you if you want 😊
Mason Perfect then! 😁 And where are you? Seo-ah?
Seo-ah Sorry, I just saw Grace and Jane argue.
Mason What?
Seo-ah Oh, oh… Jane is in a rage
Mason 😲 And so?
Seo-ah I don't know…. Aah! She look at me! We'll talk later 😨
Mason Sure, see you later then
----Seo-ah has disconnected---- ----Mason has disconnected----
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I finish reading the chat and get back on the call with Jake.    "Are you there?" I ask nervously.    "Yes, I am still on the call" I hear him say ". It seems that it touches something more than a simple rivalry between actresses."    "Yeah" I sigh, wondering what Daliah could be into "What do you think Grace and Jane were arguing about?"    “Hmm… Maybe since Grace is on your side, maybe she will tell you at some point."    " 'The murderer should have taken you’ " I repeat Mason's words, which Jane said.    “It sounds almost like a death declaration."    "Yeah..."    "I am so sorry" I hear him sigh, with a sad voice ", that you have to see all this-"    "We're doing it for Daliah" I answered, reaching my apartment "I have to stand my ground and be objective."    "But I do not like that you have to be like this" he says quickly ". You do not… You must be like that, MC… Not in relation to her death…"     I smiled sadly listening to his words. His concern for me makes my heart race.    "I'm fine Jake" I reply calmly ". Don't worry so much about me, really."     He stays silent. Breathing slowly. I go into my apartment and go for the broom and dustpan, along with a couple of garbage bags. I put my speakerphone on as I do it, but Jake still hasn't said anything.    “What’s going on?" I ask worried. I feel like we're reversing roles.    "Nothing, do not worry" he answers seriously "I am trying to find the video that Mason has commented on. It may cost me a bit."     I grip the broomstick tightly, worrying about him now me.    "I'm giving you a lot of work, aren't I?" I ask with a trembling voice.    "I keep busy and not looking at the wall, really" I hear him laugh ". And also speaking to you."    "I don't give you interesting topics, do I?"    "I do not care as long as I can hear your voice."     I start to tremble when I hear how he says it. It's like a whisper that penetrates me and remains stuck in my brain. I sigh as I bite my lip. A strange feeling in the stomach appears. I see Daliah shaking her head, moving her lips at the word 'FBI'. I blink awake from my thoughts.    “Hey Jake, I have to leave you” I say quickly ". I have to go to the store to clean it up."    "Alright" I hear her exhale heavily ". So I continue with the search for that video."    “Okay, we'll talk as soon as I have more information."     I hang up and gasp for air, nervous. I feel my cheeks burning right now.
Walking into the store, I try to see everything from a negative side. There are so many crystals that it overwhelmed me to see them.    "Okay, here we go." I roll up my sleeves and start cleaning.
I'm careful not to cut myself trying to pick up the big pieces of glass and put them against the wall. I take the last one and carefully, I put it slowly with the rest.    "Oh! Here you were!" I hear yelling from the door. A female voice.     Out of fright, I cut myself with the glass. I turn and see Jane striding toward me.    "Can you tell what you're doing by asking about me?!” she asks me, cornering me against the wall.     In fear, I pushed the glass and ended up knocking it to the ground. I look at Jane fearfully and lean against the wall.    "I don't know what you're talking about." I say nervously, avoiding even looking at her.    "Whoa! We are brave by message, but when it comes to talking you don't dare to look me in the face and tell me that you are accusing me out there!" she starts hitting me, as if she were pushing me.    I swallow nervously, beginning to tremble in fear at seeing her furious expression.    "What's happening?! Why don’t you answer?!"    "Jane! Stop!" I hear a man's voice, but because I'm focused on Jane not attacking me, I don't start thinking about who she is.     Elliot separates us and stands between us.    "Get out! Now!" he yells at her, pointing to the door.    "Not before she tells me what she's doing investigating me!" Jane yells louder "I got rid of bitch number one but bitch number two is more annoying!"     Elliot approaches her, standing up to her. I stare at them while I grab my injured hand.    "If you don't want me to arrest you for attacking a person, then walk away." Elliot's voice sounds cold. Jane looks at him and then back at me. She twists her mouth and lets out a cry before walking away.
I hear Elliot let out a long breath and he turns to face me.    “Are you okay?” he asks me, placing his hands on his hips.    "I think so-"    "Wow..." he approaches me and looks at my hand "Look what you've done to yourself."    "It's nothing" I watch as he takes my hand to look at the wound ". It's just a cut-"    "We'd better heal it for you" he looks at me worriedly ". Come on, we'll go to the health center to have stitches done."     I nod and he places his hand on my back, leading me to walk out of the store. I hand him the keys so he can lock everything and then we go to my car.
Great, now Jane knows what I'm doing…
But how did she find out?
*Jake POV*
I try to stay focused on the search, but everything ends as always thinking about MC. I worry about her. Something happens.
I remember moments talking when she seemed to show interest in me, making me talk so she would not feel uncomfortable talking to a stranger. Then there were those moments when she would pull herself away. I want to be able to ask her what was going on before and now, but I feel like it's an awkward question and that I would be bringing up a topic that I should not.
I run a hand through my hair, trying to focus. Now she need me to find that video of Jane and Daliah in that fight.    "Exactly when it was?" I wonder, looking at Mason's social network “Knowing that he named it, it must have it somewhere…"
There are too many videos, I even put keywords. It is as if they have deleted it from social networks, have they deleted it from social networks?
I hear the notification sound that a file has been decrypted and look at the other computer for the new entry.
My eyes widen in surprise at its content. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----#####----
I have gone back to the “Two Candles” to meet Mike. After so long, I've gotten what I wanted.
I think that the guy has become fond of me, because he has asked me when we would see each other. The truth is that I don't even know myself. I have only used him, as always.
But I have promised him that if everything goes well, maybe I will pay him a visit like every Friday at nine. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mike?" I ask reading the content "Who is this man now?"     I rub my chin thinking, I do not remember MC saying this name, it is new to us.
Friday at nine... It's Friday… So maybe he is at that place waiting for Daliah if he does not already know she is dead.
I pass the document through PDF and send it to MC. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nym-0s [Entry number ####.PDF] MC, I have a new entry. It is pretty interesting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wait for her to connect but she does not.
I miss knowing it's important. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nym-0s I have been looking for the video on social networks, but I cannot find it. I suspect it has been erased, but do not worry, I will find it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, I am still waiting for her to come online.
Nothing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nym-0s MC? I am sorry if you do not want to talk because of earlier. I know I am being too direct right now, but I cannot help it. I do not want to make you uncomfortable with my words. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I read my messages, thinking that with them she can connect if I apologize.
Seeing that she does not connect with those words either, I put the computer aside and start to walk nervously. Will she be okay? Could the murderer have caught her?
The police are with her, so she must be safe, I should not worry.   "Please answer when you see my messages…" I sigh, going back to work looking for the video.     But while I do it, I cannot stop looking at my phone. Waiting for a signal to answer me.

A Manly Talk(Rewrite of A Conplict Man)
Tumblr media
Man... What an odd and bizarre experience that must've been for you. I mean, I always assumed that most of Nanami-San's classmates were a bit eccentric, judging by her descriptions of them. but I had absolutely zero idea as to how insane most of 'em are. Must be hard having to deal with all of that, I assume?
Tumblr media
Oh, don't even get me started, dude. Most of the time, It's just usually throughout the entire day, somethin' absolutely batshit happens to occur while I'm at my dorms, working on whatever spiced-up gadgets I can assemble in my free time. It's so freakin' irritating and annoying to put up with!
Tumblr media
You and me both. I honestly think I wouldn't be able to handle that overwhelming amount of anxiety and pressure to deal with everything all at once. I'd would've just given up and called it an honest day if I'm being truthful with you. And I'd thought Class 76th was the more eccentric one of the bunch!
Tumblr media
Nope. They're absolutely sane, compared to the rest of us. At least they didn't have people who speak nonstop gibberish or always blabber about some demonic crap! Makes me think that I'm one of the more level-headed, actually normal guys in the academy if I'm being serious.
Tumblr media
Hope's Peak isn't a stranger to recruiting some weird, erratic, and downright uncanny people a lot of the time. As long as you're talented and you pay the required amount of money, it doesn't matter what kind of people are attending this school.
Tumblr media
Sounds pretty stupid to me, considering that we've had people with incredibly shady talents attending this school before, do I even need to mention Ted Chikatilo, Ultimate PyroTechnician? I get it's his talent, but the guy's a literal arsonist. He's been itching for a chance to literally set the whole academy on fire, and yet he's still attending as a senior in the Main Course.
Tumblr media
Guy's a deranged, wacky, psycho, there's no doubt about it. He can't even stare at a smoking plate of takoyaki without having some sort of creepy organism about the wonderful joys of flames. Gives me the fuckin' creeps every time I'd look at him.
Tumblr media
Since we're on the topic of discussing Hope's Peak, there is something that I'm kinda curious about. Mind answering that for me?
??? Hold It! Halt the recording, Danny!
__________________________________________________
August 31st, 2043, Mid-afternoon, Hinata-Nanami residence.
*Upon hearing Murphy's command, the cameraman proceeds to halt the recording near the 15th-minute mark during the conversation with Kazuichi, much to Hajime's confusion and befuddlement *
Tumblr media
Um...? Can somebody please give me a reasonable explanation as to why we'd just stopped the recording?
Agent Murphy: Well, according to our lead camera expert, Daniel, this particular section of the film reel wasn't supposed to be aired, as it was supposed to be saved for a subsequent recording that would've been untill we reached the near climax of your story. But somehow, we've ended up with this recurring reel by mistake.
Agent Murphy: Now, I'm not a person who's a valuable expert in the fields of photography and cinematography respectively, but it's evidently clear that this tape recording wasn't supposed to be aired, let alone featured at an earlier time than usual. Care to explain what I'm talking about, Hinata?
Tumblr media
Hold up, you'd think I've been the one meddling around with the video recordings? I've been resting on the chair throughout the entire interview and now you're accusing me of tampering with evidence?!
Agent Murphy: I'm not accusing you, I'm simply demanding an explanation from you because this entire sequence from around the first quarter of the recording has been rather suspiciously stretched together. So tell me, Hinata: Did you alter the recordings tapes or are you clear of any charges of illegally falsifying evidence?
Tumblr media
...!
Agent Murphy: I'd know that you're an intelligent young man with a rather honest way of thinking. So I'm confident that you'll give us an understandable reason as to why you're committing an attempted breach of the contract. May I need to remind you that this is all funded and sanctioned by the United States Marine Corps? So you'll be facing a rather lengthy time in prison if you don't confess now.
Tumblr media
...!
Tumblr media
Okay, okay! Maybe, I'd probably altered a little bit of footage from what it originally was, but could you seriously blame me for doing that? Yeah, perhaps I've gone way overboard with the whole showing footage idea, but I was impatient about showing this.
Agent Murphy: That's not an excuse! It doesn't excuse you from interfering with federal equipment and technology to suit your own ends! I understand that you're getting worn out from waiting this long, but that's not an explanation for trying to skip important events.
Tumblr media
I don't think you understand the picture here, Hubert! It's not just because of me wanting to rush everything up. It's because the people have a fucking right to know what exactly happened that day.
Tumblr media
I've lost so many wonderful, kindhearted, genuine people throughout my entire life as a student in Hope's Peak, people who totally didn't deserve the fates decided for them, all because of a conflict that we weren't even a fucking part of! We didn't join of our own volition! We had no damm choice! No free will whatsoever! And yet you're expecting me to calm the hell down and save all of the truth for later?!
Tumblr media
Innocent civilians DIED because of you! You've heard that? They're DEAD! GONE! DEPARTED! Their loved ones now have to live with the depressing fact that they were murdered all because of a conflict about bullshit ideals and political nonsense! I regretted every single decision, every single action I'd taken to prevent more bloodshed and deaths from happening and YOU want to hide the reality of the true story from them, simply because it'd make you all guilty by proxy.
Agent Murphy: That's never the intention I wanted! I didn't want countless innocents to be caught up in our confrontation with the Soviets! But you'd have to understand that no matter the outcome, people were going to perish regardless of your and your associates's involvement! I'm not trying to hide anything remotely truthful from you! So get your damm priorities straight and snap out of it, Hajime!!
Tumblr media
!!
Tumblr media
I...I'm truly sorry for the sudden outburst. It's just that ever since the Cold War ended and I retired to have a family with Chiaki, I've been suffering endless mental relapses. Doctors explained to me as a result of the overwhelming amounts of trauma I'd gotten during my adventures, it leads to me reliving all of the truly fucked up stuff I've experienced.
Agent Murphy: It's completely understandable how you would react to all of this. But you're gonna have to understand that it's all over now. The Cold War had reached its conclusion thanks to the efforts of you and your friends. Japan is now reunified, and an ever-long-lasting piece has now been established, all thanks to you and the contributions you've made to making the world a better place.
Agent Murphy: However, it's becoming rather obvious that you still possess some unresolved issues, due to how much stress and anxiety you've dealt with in the span of a decade. May I suggest recommending a therapy session to clear up any lingering issues you might have? With that psychologist woman, Gekkougahara if I'm not mistaken?
Tumblr media
Yeah. Gekkougahara-San, the former Ultimate Therapist. She's been a great source of encouragement throughout the years for both me and the rest of my friends and family. If it weren't for her efforts and being supportive of me whenever I was in a bad place, I'd probably never be as confident as I am now. Seriously though, it's been a long while since I've ever spoken to her.
Agent Murphy: Well, why don't you go seek some advice from her on how to deal with your mental problems? I'd always go to a therapist for some sense of clarity and advice on an issue that I didn't know how to resolve and since Gekkougahara's methods of psychology were talented enough to grant her a position within Hope's Peak, maybe you should reach her or any other therapist you've known to help you.
Tumblr media
Y'know... that's actually not bad advice. I've become so accustomed to always suspecting and training myself for some eventual threat, that it's becoming difficult for me to readjust back to a normal life. All I wanna do now is just spend family time with my kid, my beautiful wife, and my old friends.
Tumblr media
Anyway, I believe we got a bit sidetracked from what we're talking about, so I'll let you install the true recording back into the film camera if that's fine with you. and Murphy?
Agent Murphy: Yes?
Tumblr media
Thanks for having my back, man. I can't stress how much effort you're putting into releasing this documentary to millions of people. That takes dedication and effort, and I can't stress how much assistance you've done for us.
Agent Murphy: My pleasure. After all, I knew that I needed to repay you all eventually for your hard work, and I figured this was a way of expressing gratitude and showing my appreciation for everything you've done for us. But enough explanations, let's resume the recording.
Tumblr media
Couldn't agree more with that statement myself, Hubert.
__________________________________________________
Monday, September 11th, Souda residence, Late afternoon
Tumblr media
Huh? S-Sure, I'd be willing to answer that for you. So, what's the question you wanna ask? Is something wrong? Did anybody hurt you on the way here? Did you suffer an incident on the speedway? Those highways are filled with a lot of traffic these days, y'know?
Tumblr media
Nothing like that, but I appreciate the concern. I just had an epiphany since last week, and I was wondering if you could clear up any doubts I'd might have while explaining what I'm gonna say. Is that okay with you?
Tumblr media
I don't mind much, bro. Just...Tell me what's on your mind. Surely, it can't be that much of a weird question, right? There's gotta be a reason for why you want to discuss this in private. Otherwise, why would you be just telling me this, all of a sudden?
Tumblr media
I just wanna know what brought you all the way here to register into Hope's Peak? I know that the obvious answer is that you're exceptionally talented in your craft, but I want to hear why you've been accepted into Hope's Peak and your reasons for coming there.
Tumblr media
W-Whoa, what's with the tone, man? Didn't I just explain the main reasons why I wanted to enroll at Hope's Peak? So what's with you demanding some kind of explanation? What'd I look like to ya, a damm moron?!
Tumblr media
Seriously? Because I've don't think that you've explained the entire story thoroughly to me. There's gotta be some explanation or motive that you'd had for registering there in the first place. So I'll ask this question again: Why did you register at Hope's Peak?

Tumblr media
Wat pushed the button on his new brand camera, and the shutter clicks, capturing two people in front of the lens in its memory.
The camera wasn't extremely professional, it was still low-budget but it satisfied his amateurish passionate needs. Wat lovingly stroked the camera's side with his thumb and let out a long sigh while no one was looking at him. He just got the results of the psychological-career-orienting test today. As if he couldn't let go of his violent perfectionism here too, the personal test showed exactly what he was afraid of.
Meticulous, hard-working, observant, high logical and creative abilities. All-around yet in-depth knowledge of various topics.
Recommended professions: Law, Engineering, Business, IT.
The system saw him as valuable and smart. He got high marks, he got a brilliant future ahead of him, what else could he wish for?
However, Wat said not a word to a teacher who asked him with a worrying gaze why did he look unhappy. Well, she probably would've also called him crazy for desperately wishing to not pursue any of these professions. His passion for movies and film-making was foolish and it would never make him rich. It was such an idiotic thing to occupy his time with, such a silly hobby, all his tickets to his favourite indie movies probably belong in a trash can as his mom said once as she threw his carefully gained for few years collection away—
No.
Wat shook his head, furrowing eyebrows and biting lips. He has a right to make himself happy. He will think about his future university later, probably when the decision become impossible to push away. Today he finally got his new camera and it makes his heart all warm inside, as he's thinking about showing it off to his friends, who are currently eating noodles and chatting about everything that is happening in Suppalo. Ayan just told a joke, waving his chopsticks animatedly, and Akk was laughing wholeheartedly, although his pained expression showed he's also thinking about the broth ending up somewhere on his bed sheets or the floor.
He pointed the camera to Akk. After changing from his main prefect uniform to the casual clothes, his friend looked much more gentle, he spoke softer and a bit more awkward, all his bravado and commanding voice gone. He was sharing his worries with them, confiding in their friendship, seeking some kind of a shelter from his enormous responsibilities in their dormitory room. Wat thought his smile was much brighter in these walls, when they were together, than when he's in the classroom among other students. He captures it.
Wat knew the new kid was giving Akk so much trouble, but somehow when Akk spoke about him, there isn't much annoyance as he wanted them all to believe. It's like he was intrigued by Ayan, and Akk couldn't believe it himself. There were times when Akk returned from his watching duty after a break – and his eyes were shifting, fingers grabbing their school Sun pin as if it could calm his heartbeat. It usually took him a couple of minutes to regain his control over how he presents himself, and he thought nobody noticed this glitch in Akk's system. This curse to Akk's prefect life.
Wat did. He wasn't described as observant for nothing, after all. He didn't think Ayan was so dangerous as his friends apparently did, so he tried to push them to talk to him. Maybe if they got to hang out with Ayan somewhere after school, just them guys, maybe he wouldn't stay so rebellious, wouldn't think everyone is against him, wouldn't sit lonely in the cafeteria with Akk staring daggers in his back from their own table. Which was also: seriously, Akk?
Wat chuckled, clicking the button again and moving the lens towards Kan, who was currently fighting with a slippery wonton in his bowl. The dude never had enough patience to just slow down and be accurate, one day Akk was going to have a stroke from both of them for sure.
With mouth full of food, Kan started talking about how their juniors were 'freaking disrespectful towards seniors but we in their age would never!'. He mentioned that he went to the male bathroom once and overheard that... Wat raised his eyes up from the camera screen, just in time to notice Kan swallowing his own words together with a wonton he finally managed to catch. Akk nudged him with his knee to continue speaking, but Kan smiled like a thousand of blinding suns and confidently told him that it doesn't matter, he taught them a lesson of respect so Akk should be proud of him. Akk handed him a napkin with a fond smile.
Wat was the one who rubbed the balm on his bruised knuckles, who gave his promise not to tell anyone about his fight with some other guys. Kan refused to elaborate why did he end up in a fight, evading the reason as gracefully as an elephant in a china shop, but Wat saw the unusual flames of anger in the depth of his stare. Kan wasn't violent much but he was usually the one to pursue action before words out of them. He was always protecting any of his friends, but neither Wat nor Akk needed his protection recently.
He got his answer, though, when Kan said he'll go study in the library after classes and that no, their help isn't needed. Thua is a guy that Kan would definitely want to protect. Wat didn't know whether it was coming from guilt (because Thua certainly had a crush on his friend, that wasn't a secret to anyone in their class) or something more. He wouldn't meddle in, although he'd certainly keep an eye out on Thua too and defend Kan in front of the teacher just to win him some time when he was being late after buying those macaroons the guy loved so much.
Wat can't stand for his own life like that, he isn't brave enough like Kan or determined like Akk, so he would just be content with them three finding some time to just hang out and breathe, forgetting all of their problems. He let Kan feed him another wonton because his hands are busy with the camera, and he even got Akk to do a cute pose in his cozy wornout t-shirt.
When Kan suggested to play some music, and Akk eagerly pushed away the small table, Wat set up his camera on a recording mode right in the corner, so the device could capture the whole room, filming every small details that their little best friends world consisted of, for a future vlog. The guitar strumming, the awkwardly bad dancing moves, the horrible high notes and passionate husky karaoke, the laughs and smiles and hugs – and everything in their lives felt, indeed, bearable.
Wat didn't regret cutting on his meals and spending all his money for this camera.
Every moment of their lives together was worth capturing.

Movies for Writers, Part 1/?
Shutting Your Brain Off
(I've been sitting on this post forever, deciding whether I should post it or not. Ultimately, I settled on posting it 'cause someone somewhere might find it useful. Or, it'll just sit ignored. 🤷🏻‍♀️😊 Either way, I hope y'all enjoy...)
***
Occasionally, I come across a movie that speaks to me as a writer for various reasons. Sometimes it's the cinematography, sometimes it's the dialogue, sometimes it's the fact that the movie is actually about writing, itself.
Such as the case with this, first movie: Spalding Gray's "Monster in a Box."
***
Here's the IMDB summary:
"Monologuist Spalding Gray talks about the great difficulties he experienced while attempting to write his first novel, a nearly 2,000-page autobiographical tome concerning the death of his mother. Among his many asides, Gray discusses his problems in dealing with the Hollywood film industry, recounts the trips he took around the world in order to avoid dealing with his writer's block and describes his ambivalence about acting as stage manager for a Broadway production of 'Our Town.'"
***
Here the whole dang thing on YouTube:
Monster in the Box
(please let me know if the video comes down, I'll do my best to replace it)
***
Why is this an important watch?
Three main reasons:
Spalding Gray is a brilliant storyteller. Pay attention to the way he phrases things. How & when he decides to drop bits of exposition. This is a monologue, so it's all the power of his words, and his words alone. There is very little production here.
Even with the small amount of production, there is some camera & sound work here. When does he integrate that? How much & why? You can use that in your own writing. When should you add sensory details? When is it best to leave your prose sparse?
Most importantly, the topic of this monologue is writer's block. The dreaded writer's block that we are all faced with at one point or another. There are some valuable lessons to learn here. Spald suffers deeply from his writer's block, so much so that it leads him to several self-discoveries.
***
The first time I watched this was way back in the day as a college student. I'd actually forgotten most of it, but I remember being in awe of his writing talent at the time. Having recently re-watched it (and now that I've been writing more actively) I'm still just as awestruck, but also a lot sad.
Spalding was often plagued by self doubt. That's hit me in all the tender bits on & off lately. This past winter I had a major meltdown over my writing, so watching this was both timely and reassuring for me. I mean, if an individual of Spaulding's caliber can speak openly about his anxieties as a writer, as well as his own battles with writers block, then certainly there is hope for the rest of us. Right? (Goodness, I hope so.)
Ok, I admit it, this might sound like an overly optimistic view of "Monster in a Box," we are talking about the one work that nearly derailed his entire career; however, there's a lesson in how he navigated the disaster.
He set it aside.
He let it breathe.
He turned it into something else!
He let "Monster" be the thing that it needed to be, that it was supposed to be all along. I think that is the biggest lesson I took from my re-watch:
Sometimes your story knows more about itself than you do.
Let that sink it.
Sometimes, it's best to just shut your brain off and write.
✒️✏️💻
I'm currently working on taking Spald's advice.

Captain America: The First Avenger
Tumblr media
So this movie will most likely be a bit different in review to all the others. I've seen this film more than any of the other MCU films. Why? Well, firstly, I have made previous runs at watching the entire MCU and those times I did it in timeline order, which meant this one came first. Secondly, I literally adore every actor in it, especially Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell.
I can sincerely say that I appreciate this movie more every single time I watch it.
This time what came to mind most strongly was that I think this movie, despite its minimal female cast, falls under "The Bisexual Gaze".
For those unfamiliar, there was a tumblr post (apologies for the reddit link but it's the closest I've found to the original so far) a while back talking about movies that just as there are movies made from the male gaze (both of the Iron Man movies so far definitely qualify) and movies made from the female gaze (I'd argue The Marvels was made from this and I've heard people use the Birds of Prey movie as a good example), that some movies are made from the Bisexual Gaze. The best example is The Mummy with Brendan Fraiser and Rachel Weisz.
The short explanation given to define the Bisexual Gaze is usually "everyone's hot" but I'd say it's more than that. Yes, everyone is hot, but no one is overly sexualized or, more importantly, objectified. People can be sexual, yes, but there is clear choice and consent involved OR actual (not "coy") outrage when such choice and consent are violated. Everyone is not only attractive physically but is shown to have valuable skills that contribute to their success- be it intelligence or combat skills or emotional intelligence. The Bisexual Gaze is in many ways the Human first gaze. (Pansexuals, if you want to also call it the Pansexual gaze, I'd say have at it.)
So instead of just gushing about how much I love the Captain America movie, I'm going to instead ramble about why I think it fits the Bisexual gaze. And of course, as a bi person, we all know my opinion is God on this one. (Sarcasm, that was sarcasm, don't come for me.)
Chris Evans is hot. Obvious. However, this is particularly interesting in this movie as he's first portrayed as a scrawny guy that many would not define as traditionally hot. (I have no problems with smaller scrawny guys but will say that CGI hurts the look a little here as his head is too big for the frame given.) We then get his transformation and it is the one shirtless scene we're given. He even puts a shirt back on before chasing Erskine's killer. This is my point about minimal sexualization/objectification. We see Captain America in a full coverage uniform the majority of the time and his uniform is less than flattering at first. Despite having a well built and traditionally attractive male lead, the emphasis is NOT on his physique, but on his actions and his emotions. THIS is what we are drawn to- his determination to take down bullies, his love and care for his friends, his dedication to what is right. Hotness extending beyond a simply beautiful body.
Hayley Atwell is hot. I would both LOVE to look like Hayley Atwell and to, well, get with Hayley Atwell. She is gorgeous. But she's gorgeous in that 1940s way of a full coverage blouse, a skirt that does not dare go above the knee, and just the right amount of make-up and hair skill. We see her in the red dress once but even it is a modest cut by today's standards. I'm going to say this for completeness sake- Atwell has a great chest but this film did not center the camera on it- her FACE is the center of the frame if she is alone on camera OR it is the space between her and her speaking partner. I make this point because this filming decision is the number one reason I can argue why a movie with only 1 female lead is indeed an example of the bisexual gaze- Peggy is ALWAYS treated with respect by the cameraman and by extension, the director. She's also in charge of her body. When Hodge makes crass comments towards her, she orders him about and knocks him out, demonstrating that such actions will not be tolerated. She's also integral to all planning and pushing the plot forward. SHE saves Cap from the dude with flame throwers before the major showdown with Red Skull, which is key to cementing their equality in partnership. He's technically the superhero, but Peggy Carter needs no serum.
The closest thing to a "sex" scene is led by a female. If you're thinking "what scene is she talking about", I am referring to the scene with the blond secretary who comes on to Cap while he's waiting to talk to Stark. This scene is especially important given the time period the movie is set in. This woman openly flirts and then grabs Cap and pulls him into a kiss. He is clearly surprised and quickly uncomfortable with that situation (going back to actual rejection of ignoring consent). It is a reversal of gender roles that would have been typical at that time in a variety of ways. Cap is male and the higher rank but he is not remotely using his position to get female attention. In fact, he sits a good distance away from the woman when told he can wait. But this woman see something she wants and she grabs it. (Inappropriately, but she does.) And unlike Black Widow, she's not doing this as a manipulation tactic- she just wants the bloke.
Cap is shown to be an intellectual. This was a new detail for me this round but there is a brief scene in the montage of his training pre-serum where he is unpacking stacks of books. This recognition makes it so much more understandable why he's able to look at a map for 3 seconds and remember where bases were located or quickly strategize how best to use his team as battle conditions change. It also adds to him as a person- of course the scrawny kid from Brooklyn who couldn't really fight took himself to the library to find other ways to better himself.
Cap and Bucky- Just friends? Obviously this becomes more of a thing later. And Cap is clearly in love with Peggy. But I'd argue at least that Bucky has some level of feeling for Steve that goes beyond regular friendship. It may be simply brothers-in-arms or found family, but it's hard to deny that Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan eye contact has some homoerotic vibes to it. While we're on it, Stark appears to have some level of feelings towards Cap as well. This is shown more clearly in the Agent Carter series (spoilers) but I'd say Steve Rogers makes more than a few 1940s men question just where they lie on the Kinsey scale.
Tommy Lee Jones does not care how hot anyone is. This may seem like an odd one, but hear me out. In most films where there is one female lead among a bunch of men, that woman has all the men wrapped around her finger which is why she's allowed to be the lead. And as we've established, Peggy Carter is a capable, compelling, and hot female lead. But Tommy Lee Jones as the colonel does not give a flying fuck. He just doesn't. He tells her off or threatens to multiple times. He sees her as a soldier, not as an attractive woman. And I don't think this is an age thing. We don't see him look at any of them women that pass him (a few are shown bustling around the SSR) nor does he mention a wife or any female interest. This is a man with a singular focus- win the war- and he will use the best people, whoever they are, to do that. He's also not moved by Cap's hotness. After his initial display of skill post serum, Jones orders Cap to a lab because he's the only super soldier he's got. He later begrudgingly agrees to use him after he frees Bucky and the other men, but this is solely about using an excellent tool to an end. His character may not literally be asexual, but his actions are within this context. And THAT does not exist in a male gaze movie.
Speaking of ace rep... Both Red Skull and Dr. Zola never show the slightest sexual interest in anything or anyone. Their focus is on taking control of the world and science. Now I won't claim there isn't anything problematic with villains being cast in asexual lights more than heroes, but I do think it's interesting simply because it shows how little of this movie is sexually or even romantically motivated. We have ONE romantic storyline and even it takes a backseat to the job of winning the war. Our power-hungry villains don't seem to care about women (or men) in a sexual way- they just want control in general. I'm not sure I'm expressing this well but there's something to be said about two men NOT being motivated by a desire for female adoration in any way.
Aesthetics. This is going to 100% be my view and I don't have the words to express it well but it's my blog so it's going in. The grain of the majority of this film that created the 1940s feel heightens glamour but lowers sleekness and sexiness. It makes you want to watch these people but in a wanting to KNOW them way, not in a how they fill out their outfit way. We have one real scene of sleekness and that is after Cap busts out of his "hospital" into Times Square and that is portrayed as overwhelming and overstimulating, not sexual at all. That grain is even kept in his fake hospital wing.
I am noting right now that some of this could be argued to be a Demisexual gaze, and rightly so. Captain America DEFINITELY strikes me as demisexual.
A couple final notes. I really appreciate the diversity in Cap's chosen team. Not just that there are different races and ethnicities represented, but they are represented in unique ways. Our Asian chap is gruff and takes no shit and makes sure people know he's from Fresno (American born and bred), rather than meek and bookish. The black soldier went to Howard University (prestigious and HBCU) and is the linguist of the group, a role reserved for intellectuals in tv and movies. Even Dum Dum, who is a giant, well built, typical white dude is constantly cheery and funny rather than a brute. They don't get a ton of screen time but they make the most of what they do get.
And finally, I had, like most I imagine, assumed Red Skull had died from touching the untethered Tesseract. But this time I noticed that it does indeed look more like he got sucked into a Bifrost type stream. SPOILER- This makes his reappearance in Infinity War much more logical (within the MCU of course).
If you've only watched this one once, I strongly suggest a second viewing. I really feel this one more than any of the others (at least so far) gets better with each watch. Next time I get to do a couple of One-Shots, which is exciting for reducing list purposes.

The Importance of Corporate Videos
In today's fast-paced digital landscape, the importance of corporate videos cannot be overstated. These dynamic visual assets have become a vital tool for businesses to effectively communicate their brand message and connect with their target audience. First and foremost, corporate videos have the power to engage viewers like no other medium. With eye-catching visuals, captivating storytelling, and professional production value, these videos can captivate your audience from the very first frame. By combining powerful visuals with compelling narratives, you can leave a lasting impression on your viewers and ensure that your brand stays top-of-mind. Moreover, corporate videos allow you to showcase your products or services in action. Instead of relying solely on text descriptions or static images, videos provide an immersive experience where potential customers can see exactly how your offerings solve their pain points or fulfill their needs. This level of demonstrative content builds trust and credibility among consumers. Furthermore, corporate videos are easily shareable across various online platforms such as websites, social media channels, and email campaigns. By leveraging the power of video sharing sites like YouTube or Vimeo along with social media algorithms that prioritize video content, you can exponentially increase the reach of your message and attract new leads to your business. Lastly (for now!), corporate videos humanize brands by putting faces behind them. In an increasingly impersonal digital world where interactions are often mediated through screens rather than face-to-face encounters, having real people representing your company helps build genuine connections with potential customers. Videos give you an opportunity to introduce key team members or show glimpses into behind-the-scenes operations – ultimately fostering a sense of trust and authenticity. There you have it – just a glimpse into why corporate videos are so crucial for modern businesses! Now let's delve deeper into what factors affect the cost of producing these valuable marketing assets.
Factors that Affect the Cost of Corporate Videos
When it comes to producing a corporate video, there are several factors that can influence the cost. One of the main factors is the length and complexity of the video. Longer videos with more intricate scenes and special effects will naturally require more time and resources, thereby increasing the cost. Another factor that affects cost is the level of production quality desired. Higher quality videos often require professional equipment, experienced crew members, and post-production editing services, all of which can add to the overall expense. Additionally, location plays a role in determining costs. If your video requires shooting at multiple locations or in expensive areas such as city centers or private venues, this may increase expenses for permits and logistics. The choice of talent can also affect pricing. Hiring professional actors or industry experts for interviews adds credibility but comes at a higher cost compared to using employees or non-professional talent. Revisions and changes during post-production can impact costs as well. The more adjustments required after filming has been completed—whether it's editing changes or adding graphics—the longer it will take to finalize the project, resulting in additional charges. Understanding these factors is crucial when budgeting for a corporate video production. By considering these variables early on in your planning process, you can make informed decisions about where to allocate your resources effectively without compromising on quality.
Different Types of Corporate Videos and their Average Costs
1 .Company Profile Video: This type of video showcases your company's history, mission, values, and key offerings. It gives potential clients a comprehensive overview of your business. On average, the cost for a well-produced company profile video ranges from $2,500 to $10,000. 2. Product or Service Demo Video: These videos demonstrate how your products or services work and highlight their unique features and benefits. The cost can vary depending on the complexity of the product/service being showcased but typically falls between $3,000 to $12,000. 3. Testimonial Videos: Testimonials from satisfied customers add credibility and trustworthiness to your brand. The cost for testimonial videos usually ranges from $1,500 to $5,000 per video. 4. Training Videos: These videos are designed to educate employees or customers about specific processes or procedures within the organization. The cost varies based on factors such as script complexity and production requirements but generally starts at around $4,000. 5. Event Coverage Videos: Capturing important corporate events such as conferences or trade shows is vital for marketing purposes. Depending on the duration and scale of the event coverage needed, costs can range from $2, 500 to upwards of $15,
